switches can be changed (without desoldering) if a board is hotswappable, you will generally see this advertised. I dont think the rk board is but the varmilo might be. again, idk for sure
Nah it's $170 lol
Just gonna drop this here since there’s a summer sale for anyone that can go either 75% or tkl, grabbed the A80 myself
Costar stabs on the 80 series, not screw in but still a little bit nicer to tune than plate mounted cherry stabs
I’m looking forward to the new q1
I’m considering it if it’s good
I like the sound of that
This may most likely kill the GMMK
If it works out, yeah.
GMMK Pro already pushed its price point with how many features it has.
Q1 takes it further.
Which is kinda why I'm a little wary.
Are you able to look inside the switch?
Not hotswap
You might still have the ability to open it up, if the prongs aren't stuck into the mounting plate.
Keyboard is a RK sink87g
I think the switches are PCB mounted
nvm
but I don't think I can open it
What keyboard should I get under $100 cad?
That is a full sized keyboard with clicky keys
how good is the anne pro 2?
wired or wireless?
i believe its a pretty good 60% keeb
has decent switch options, bluetooth and software. also some other stuff
the gateron reds are good or trash?
they're alright
aight thx my guy
mhm
Wired
Do you mean like the "blue" kind of clicky where it makes a click noise or a "brown" kind of clicky where it just gives you tactile feedback?
Keychron C2 Mechanical Keyboard. Full-size 104-keys Layout. Connects via wired type-c cable and users can hot swap every switch in seconds with the hot-swappable version. Compatible with Mac, Windows, iOS, Android, Linux. Gateron Switches. 15+ RGB Backlight
if you're interested in it, id recommend getting hot swap in case you want to change the switches
otherwise $44 for a non-backlit soldered blue switch keyboard
Let’s go with the noise, so blue
i too once started with blue switches
Was it good?
is the gk61 way worse?
Did they get Irritating over time?
yeah kind of
I guess the only way is to try them.
Get a hotswap board with blues on them.
If you end up disliking them, you can always swap.
its why i suggested to get the hot swap one because you may not like them soon
Makes sense
any reccomendations for lubricants?
for what application?
custom build keyboard?
well it depends on what you're lubing
stabs for example, krytox 205g0. linear switches, also 205. for springs, krytox 103. tactiles i believe its 203 but i dont remember
nah i think 205g0 for everything is good
there's better
like the kemove snowfox
or shadow
i have this keyboard im in the process of modding and am looking for some keycaps that will look good with it. any recommendations?
it depend of the style you want to give it ... do you want retro looking ? ... modern ? (well that's already pretty modern) ... do you want to go with white ? pudding keycaps ...
there's also the question of the keycap profile ... I suggest you do a bit of research on that ... most cheap keycaps will come in oem profile of cherry ... but it's more and more common to be able to find dsa ones for cheap too
i know i for sure want cherry profile. as for the style, i guess modern. idk. i was mostly hoping you guys knew of any good brands to get
cuz i know some caps arent that high quality
The important thing about keycaps is that you avoid lazer etched abs keycaps ...
double shot pbt or dye sublimated pbt are probably the best thing you can get
as for the brand I don't know any in particular as I'm not that deep into keycaps swapping ... I mostly look at stuff I find nice enough on amazon or ebay
Any opinions from y'all on the KC K6?
its fine for its price
Cool
Trying to decide between the hyperx alloy origins core and xtrfy k4 tkl. I don't care about software too much and I don't mind abs key caps either. The price is about the same so that doesn't matter, I want linear switches and fairly good stabs as well. Which one is the better keyboard?
I'm partial to xtrfy ... but it doesn't matter ... how much do they cost ?
around 100€
you could probably get something better for that price
but the xtrfy has a really nice color scheme and I was tempted to get one jut to fit with my mouse ...
I shifted towards varmillo keyboards, kinda wanting one of them now
desoldered the old speed switches for some mx blues and now its perfect
best keyboard under 100$?
get a ducky one 2 mini if you would like to anger the keeb community
Epic
it cant get better than this
Not for tactiles. Too thick.
@rotund slate
If you're not lubing the legs then sure.
Otherwise, Tribosys 3204.
kemove snowfox
lmaooooo
preference
but ive had good experience with my kemove shadow
aka the black version of snowfox
ok but I need atleast a tkl one
I need the extra keys for work and my old one broke
ive seen the razer huntsman te for 70 new
Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhh
If you need the Huntsman's features, whatever that may be, sure.
But otherwise, just get something else.
Keyboards may be preferential but we're still going to recommend what we think are good.
I play games allot tho
Keyboards are the last things you need to upgrade for gaming.
ik
Unless you need macros for whatever reason.
but my old one broke and now i have an office keeb
and everything else is fine in my setup
I'd still rather go with the Snowfox, the RK84, or the GMMK.
At least they'll feel and sound decent out of the box.
i really don't know if i should go for an anne pro 2 or a gk61
which is better?
gk61 have my vote there ... I had the anne pro 2 and was really disappointed in it
G513 good or no
Are there any features exclusive to the G513 that you need?
Keyboard’s build is alright but I don’t like how the switches feel so I don’t recommend it
compared to the hyper x alloy origins core is it better or no
Basically any gaming keyboard is eh. There are some good ones
You’re better off getting a decent prebuilt
Cheers
Can someone point me to a keyboard that has the features following
- Mechanical, only Mechanical WASD is fine(Some keyboards do only 8 keys mechanical)
- White illumination or RGB so that I can do white
- Extra G/Function keys preferably on the side
Budget is about €100 or less
Something like this Logitech G613 maybe
DUCKYYAYY
There are a few on this list that have that. Otherwise the only thing I can think of is a retro terminal keyboard
I found Corsair K55 which is everything I want but not mechanical
then there's Corsair K100 which is both not avaliable and hella expensive
the keyboard I run right now is a Bloody B418, I love it, it's amazing, it's mechanical feel is out of this world, but It doesn't have extra function keys, the primary reason why I'm looking for a new one
Then there's Corsair K68 but it doesnt have the function keys
well corsair's icue software allows you to reprogram any key to anything...so...you could get one with a num pad and reprogram it as a macro pad. or just buy a macro pad
Nope, I need extra keys on the left hand side
what about one of these? takes an extra usb cable but they work for what you need
Probably not avaliable in my region
I'm in Turkey, that kind of stuff isn't in the market yet
i see
and exchange rates mean if I order abroad it's gonna cost about the same price as the keyboard
I really wanted to get the K100 even though it's kinda overpriced tbh
But it's not avaliable in Turkey
how much do you wanna spend?
I mean, preferably under €100
what about the corsair k57?
Googling
It's a new model?
Possibly
Well well well
It's not avaliable in Turkey yet
Amazon offers it for ₺825(about €75) + ₺461 for Import Fees & Shipping
holy crap.
So you see the problem with out of country orders
I'm paying half a keyboard
I'll keep an eye out though
The K57 is basically K100 without the fancy wheel on top
I like this
damn turkey sucks
:(
You’re welcome
I bought a Asus 2080S right before 30 series were being announced
It was about November I think
I paid €430 for it
For €573 I could buy a 3060ti
and 3070s 3080s were being sold for their regular non-scalper prices for a very long while, months, until the crypto market blew up
So yeah that's one upside I guess
at least you can actually a buy a card
Yeah
But I can't buy a K57
and I just realized its wireless too
Oh yeah I'm definetly getting one of these when they arrive
it seems that g key keyboards are dead
im even having trouble finding them
corsair used to make a lot of them but they have since then been discontinued
razer had one too
wth did i just come across
That's an old Logitech
G510 or something
They were f*cking amazing and I wish I could find one for sale
these are only 4 years old?
They were never too big on Turkey
and apparently 4 years old is 3 years too late to find one
yo i found one for $45
you can pay shipping lol
alright i have a new idea
Wait a sec I'm confused what even is that thing lol
find a logitech keeb with g keys and hope it has cherry switches
okay the only one i can find is the g613 but it has their crappy romer g switches
None avaliable in Turkey
frick.
Neither G510 or G15 or G19 920
okay then my advice is try your luck for a macro pad or a corsair keyboard
Yeah gonna wait for K57 I guess
they are not a thing in Turkey
ordering a $30 Macro Pad from amazon means I'll pay about $30 for shipping and probably about $20 for taxes and import fee
you dont have a turkey amazon?
We do but certain items are not kept in stock, they are import-upon-order and they get charged extra
So yeah you get the point
jeez id be shocked if fruit was available there damn
Nah it's just electronics
Weird country amirite
I'll wait for K57
maybe even call the official distrubitor and ask when do they come in
Imma buy one I like it
I'll head out now
Cheers
aight see ya
ordered my keycaps and hotswap board, it's coming together
@austere jacinth found you.
Did you try contacting them?
i did
they sent the same answer they did last time
copy paste ig
anyway , not their fault
4 days for them to ship , i believe actual delivery takes longer
You will
basically, they're gateron reds
and aquas are gateron browns
I find this is the case with most keyboard vendors if you order close to the weekend tbh
hmmm
ig
i think gateron browns are way better than hyperx aquas , hyperx aquas are more like kalih browns
recently bought amargeddon keyboard
mechanical keyboard MKA 11r
but disappointed ... is too noisy
even after i install O Ring is also produce loud clicky sound
so i plan to change all the switches instead
but need some advice , how much is RED and BROWN switchs different?
i see
but 1 thing for sure is much "quieter" than blue yes?
now i can't stand the blues .... really ruins my mood
i guess
now i switch back my old keybaord logitech k120
which is membrane
so now i'm trying to buy a full set of key switches
still deciding where go for red or brown
It has ouetmu blue switches , worst among the blue switches too , but still really good at that price
brown is tactile it will be loud too , even red will be loud too but u can try gateron black
zeal also has good silent switches but never had luck to try myself
They're lower pitched thud only, no click
opinions on keyboards?
They are good
fuck keyboards
this post was made by the touchscreen gang
They person reacted to your message and left
Never mind discord was just bring weird
No you're not
You don't exist anymore :(
how much lube do I need per custom keeb?
noooo
I believe 2mL nets your around 90-100 switches not including stabs.
Don't quote me on that.
IIRC it's usually indefinite.
I haven't heard of anyone having to relube their switches.
If you did I'd probably assume they'd last for a very, very long time.
They're not like car engines where they have to handle a shitton of abuse.
Or even HDDs traveling at thousands of revs per minute.
HDD lube, IIRC lasts for about a decade.
Mx Browns
None.
Try everything out if you have to.
optemeus
please don't
And also any blue switches. Blue switches aren’t that good
There is really no scientific proof of a switch being bad unless its design actually prevents it from working.
Choose whatever you like, really. Even MX Blues or Browns if you really do like them.
Maybe to you, yeah.
Joking aside browns aren’t that bad but far from what I would call tactile. Glarses describes them as ticklish and that’s about right
I don’t hate them
i need to try them
Switch tester
do they have like sample packs of switches
in my region they do
I don't know how much the shipping is from Asia to US tho

Different switches than the Drop version though.
Whoa
ye
There are smaller versions.
yea
I describe cherry brown as really scratchy reds
That works too
strangely I'm typing on my durgod fusion ... that has cherry mx brown ... trying to find something I like about those ... it's a shame that keyboard only come with 3 options of cherry switches and also is not hotswappable ...
I wanted to ask if there's some medium thin krytox oil that I could inject in each side of the switch using a really thin needle to at least try to lubricate the slider ... I have 205 g0 but it's too thick for that ...
I run browns, I like them, yeah blues are great, but they are loud, very loud, and people will get annoyed with it
browns dont really click like a blue
cause brown doesn't have a click jacket like the blue
but they are not silent switches
I use ergo clears
They sound amazing with light lube
And feel pretty smooth even with them being a pretty heavy tactile bump
Do you have a budget?
Under $50
hey i was looking into buying my first mechanical keyboard, I was looking into the Varmilo VA88M and the Ducky One 2 tkl. Does anyone have them by chance? or just knows something about them that I should know before buying one of them. or just want to help in the process of decision making. for any answers pls tag me Thank a lot
any input on my question for my mx brown ?
good old trybosis?
Do you have a budget?
Yes and No what are you recommending?
My brother has a Royal Kludge RK84 and I can wholly recommend that.
Hotswap PCB, removable bezel to switch between a high-profile design or a low-profile, wired and wireless with 2.4 GHz and Bluetooth, has (I think) two USB passthroughs, per-key RGB, easily maintainable, configurable lighting right on the keyboard...
Also magnetic feet so you can switch between a higher or lower typing angle.
Really, the only bad thing about it is the software. It's trash.
only problem its 80% and i want a tkl

Is this nice?
Any thoughts on the KPrepublic mkb87
That feeling when you finish building a keeb, push the spacebar and it doesn't come back up....
fine entry level barebone
I got 48 wpm now
one of the better gamer board
98 acc too
Alright thanks
How's the quality?
Like built quality
it looks like the gk87 with out the skyloong badge at a glance imo
Do you think it'll make much noise when I type on it? Like the keycaos hitting the board prpducing a sound. Like my Razer TE Chroma
id say the switch choice will affect that
more than the caps
Actually my current Razer TE, has a silent switch. If I'm just pressing it softly it doesnt make a sound. But whenever I'm typing, it just hits the board and causes a loud sound
i mean its not silent by any means
by the sound i gathered on yt it sounds just like your bog standard switch with no dampener where the slider hits both housing
the "silent" part id say is in context when compare to clicky switches
See full build & review vid : https://youtu.be/z8H233BUGgY
Just wanted to quickly share some typing sounds from the Skog Reboot I built , with Seriko silent linear switches (THANKS KOD)
Skog Reboot (sorry GB closed) : https://percent.studio/products/skog-reboot
The switches : https://zambumon.com/portfolio/seriko/
Track: A Breath of Fresh Ai...
this is a demonstration of a board with silent switches
dampeners where the slider hits both top and bottom housing
and you can hear that its way quieter
Oh, so like its the mod helping it to stay silent kinda thing
theres the obvious of putting o rings under the keycaps
but it will only dampens the downstroke and not the upstroke
also come with the side effect of mushiness bottom out feeling
rubber dampeners on the slider did the same thing, but to the upstroke as well
while not turning the mush factor to 11
like the silent level of silent switches with o rings?
Thanks
Just like the silent level

Just wanted to quickly share some typing sounds from the Skog Reboot I built , with Seriko silent linear switches (THANKS KOD)
Skog Reboot (sorry GB closed) : https://percent.studio/products/skog-reboot
The switches : https://zambumon.com/portfolio/seriko/
Track: A Breath of Fresh Ai...
Just like this
then yea impossible
cause again, theres no way to eliminate the upstroke clack with just the o ring
what do I needa do to get it close to it at least
buy silent switches
cause you got a barebone, you can put in whatever switch you want
What do you think of silent reds
which brand?
decent id say
stem wobble is notorious for gateron, but you only notice it if you picky about it
otherwise that loose tolerance allows gateron to have pretty good smoothness stock
@violet gale
i should note that for its price
Oh alright thanks
With the gat silent reds, would it be possible to silent the sound to somewhat close to the vid?
yes
im just about to say that it might be too light for you, the gat reds
but coming from razer orange, the weighting is similar i would say
can u film for better
you can i think
might have to get me some deskeys
So, I got a question, is it bad if I use spray lube instead of manually lubing the switches?
yes
I see, nevermind then
I don't have a soldering iron and wanted to spray lube my keyboard instead. Looks like that idea is out of the window
films generally don't help that much for stem wobble
unless there's so much wobble that moving the stem moves the top housing
which is the case with basic gateron
I need a basic membrane keyboard for programming work that will fit in a backpack, and survive being hauled from home to office and back. The only other requirement is that the arrow and control keys are in standard layout. Any recommendations?
which trybosis number would be not too thin to not leak or wash itself too fast but thick enough to be put in a syringe and injected ?
3204?
the thickest, just to be safe
is it as thick as the krytox 205 g0 ?
nope
a step thinner
ok ... maybe I'll need a bigger needle I guess ...
the gaterons in kemove shadow
they are white bottom housing
yea those has massive wobble
can u film to get rid of wobble?
with that switch, yes, some of it as aspality said
I mean it isnt too bad
I kinda like it
But also kindof dont
Rubbishy can I have the link to the diamond linears?
Magik
Are those better than mints?
Does anyone have any recommendations on good affordable pre-build keyboards
whats your price range/what size are you looking for? mini? 10-key? 10-keyless
Under $130 TKL/60%.
Do you want RGB or no?
I can stretch it to $150
for TKL thats a large budget
I dont mind it, but i prefer quality over aesthetics
If there is a keyboard thats better without rgb, its fine
these days, quality at that price range will not differ, so get something you like
I know a few friends who are keyboardfiles and love Drop.com
Kemove shadow, if u can wait get a keychron q1
Or akko wt
Thanks
No problem
Amazon.com: Razer BlackWidow Elite Mechanical Gaming Keyboard: Yellow Mechanical Switches - Linear & Silent - Chroma RGB Lighting - Magnetic Wrist Rest - Dedicated Media Keys & Dial - USB Passthrough: Computers & Accessories
This thing like 70$ off
I don't like full size keyboards
But it's a good deal
Any interesting linears out there these days? In the mood for something different.
There are more than one type of linear?
Yea, not nearly as diverse as tactiles or clickies, but still some variety to be had
Yeah, I could see having an o ring be a big deal for linear switches
I wonder what the longest travel Linear keyswitches are
I had an old dell membrane board with super long travel, it would be fun to replicate it in mech
id look it up
@chrome raft hey do you know any hotswap keyboards but just has the plate and stuff
like all i would have to do is just put in the switches i like and keycaps and then im good to go
gmmk barebones
it has a name
barebones
does it come with stabilizers already pre installed
the barebone kits
depends a bit on the kit, but generally yes
ok
keychron is coming out with one in july. if you're willing to wait a bit you can check that out
comes with everything but switches and keycaps
oh ok
is it good?
dont know yet but we (or at least me) expect it to be a gmmk pro but cheaper
ooo that sounds good, ive actually heard about the gmmk pro but when i saw the price tag i was like :yikes:
what does gasket mount mean @potent void
A gasket mount uses gasket material between the plate and keyboard housing on both top and bottom sides. This gives the board a slightly more cushioned feel since the plate isn’t in direct contact with the other metal components of the keyboard
ah i see
basically its just some pads or something the keep the plate floating
tbf when the GMMK Pro got announce there wasn't anything with its feature set at that price.
The Q1 pushes that even further.
It's only missing RGB lighting and maybe its own software for newbies.
But it is VIA compatible. Hopefully.
Sure it's a piece of shit by y'all's standards but find the concept interesting.
Amazon.com: Touchpad Embedded into Keys Bluetooth Wireless Keyboard | Auto-Switch Between Keyboard and touchpad Modes | Windows, Mac OS, Android, iOS, Smart TV Keyboard | Multi-Device Rechargeable Keyboard : Computers & Accessories
Daaaaang.
Honestly
This really is interesting.
But I wonder how sensitive it is.
Because at that point there's a very thin line between responsiveness and accidental movement rejection.
I just want to know how they implemented the capacitive surfaces
Glad I don't care about rgb or software ... keychron q1 it is then ... also no volume wheel by default is really a plus for me.
Oh shit it doesn't come with a knob either?
Optional if I've seen correctly
I don't care about volume knob on my keyboard
I have enough them already
No idea ... maybe it comes with it and you just have the option to install it
Found an old Cherry MX keyboard at work, now it lives in my office lol
is it good ?
Yeah I like it
glad you like it ... which switches in there ?
It has mx clear switches
It's just missing the windows keys which I use pretty often lol
what keybored will look good with the normal white model o?
the keybored must have media-keys and the windows key
with a glorious mouse ... a glorious keyboard ... 😉
but I don't know if the gmmk pro have media keys ... I never use those
gmmk pro does have a rotary encoder so you can use it as your volume knob if you want
did you swap out the alpha cluster?
those are cherry doubleshots
very nice caps
@paper lion a lot of boards have those programmed on layer if you dont' mind using that
With the Glorious Core software it's really easy.
ight
most of them have that stuff pre programmed
and it's not hard doing it with VIA or QMK enabled boards
my budjet for a keybored is under $90 CAD
but i can make it higher
im thinking of getting https://www.pcgamingrace.com/products/the-glorious-gmmk-full-size-pre-built-white
under 90 ... you're quite limited there ... redragon offerings would probably be the best option
got a used k552 for $10 lol
lol
but i want mine to be white do that it matches my model o
Yeah we did, my coworker had some blank keycaps
so take it apart and paint it?
redragon k551 and k552 comes in white
do you have the link for it?
google my guy
lol
i recommend you keep the original ones if you haven't already thrown them or something
found it on amazon
Oh yeah they're in a safe spot
nice
"red dragon k552 white" into the googs

exactly, and the black one is like $10 less or something
ya
It was nice for a quick keyboard grab, but I eventually went the way of the Razer fan boi and got the huntsman v2
lol
im not shure beetween the k552 or the GMMK
the gmmk dosnt have a big brand logo on it and it'll match model o
but k552 is cheeper by 40 bucks

Does anyone know if is possible to change de switchs in this keyboard?
I think you can find a Royal Kludge board for that.
I believe the RK84 is available for under $90 CAD.
If not, it shouldn't be that much more expensive, I hope.
Do plate stabs fit on a gmmk pro? The stock ones are among the worst stabs I've ever used >.<
yea
which is partially why screw in stabs support on pc plate with the gmmk pro is patchy
makes sense
Any real reason to go with screw-ins over some costar plate stabs?
First board I've had that uses PCB stabs that has a plate
its more stable
and typically plate mount stab tolerance arent as good
I suppose the stabs you have are better than the stabs you don't. That said if the ones I've got in my parts bin don't cut it, whats the goto? Keep hearing Durock mentioned
Honestly really only having problems with the spacebar
yea durock/everglides are the go to with screw in and plate mount as well
tho again, pc plate on gmmk are having issues with durock screw in fitment
Not too picky when it comes to stabs, i just need the damn keys to not stick >.<
durock plate mount just to be safe about fitment
GMMK's marketing language is unbearable but they did end up making a pretty good board

does any1 know how to fix a wobbling switch on a none hotswappable keyboard?
bruh
That's probably the only way to fix it ... at least that's the only way I know of
man thinks people casually have soldering irons laying around
Well it's either that or you leave it wobbly
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I got a razer blackwidow chroma for 37 bucks because of how my walmart did old stock, every 2 weeks, it'd go down in price, and when i stumbled on it. It was listed for 37
Brand new as well
Actually pretty nice for $37.
I just dont have a key cap puller.. and i dont want to do it by hand which is the equivalent of scratching a cd disk
Imma probz get a p g pro wireless tommorow mabye
If the mother lets me
Mouse btw
Its on sale
wired?
@ionic briar what do you think
Lmao
No, a g pro wireless is wired
sensor is fine, switches might double click depending on your use rate
cause omron is like almost bottom tier
It is?
I game
Dont really care if it would double click every now and then
My razer does that
U have any other recommendations?
i mean if you like the shape, you can always desolder and solder in better microswitches
Do not try to replace the switches unless your hands are steady as fuck and you're ready to get the tiny screw stuck to the side button magnets
I know because I've tried
im not going to
a soldering iron cost close to nothing like around 10$ ... it's really less expensive than replacing the keyboard ... and if you don't want to do it just ask around, maybe someone will be able to do it for you ...
omron 50 M click tend to double click way more than the other omron switches ... also it's more common in logitech mouse, I've read it has something to do with the voltage they use but I'm really not sure about that. anyway I have the g305 with 20 M omron switches and no double click so far ...
ill be fine
i dont care if i double click or not
or are there any other better options?
any mouse with optical switches or kailh switches I suppose ...
honestly I wouldn't worry about that much ...
there's an asus mouse that has hotswappable switches ...
which is really cool
whats a good mouse with opticals in it
I know that razer has one ... but I don't remember which model ...
and I'm not sure it's "good" ...
probz viper ultra
maybe ...
I know the orochi v2 have really good reviews
was tempted to get it to replace my g305
maybe you can check out the glorious model o wireless
should i get the minus or not?
minus is a bit smaller ... depend of you hand size
personally I would get the minus cause I have somewhat small hands and I like to finger tip the mouse
pretty average manly; handsi think
it's about the same size as my ztrfy m42
anyway I don't think the o- is available in wireless
yeah not cheap here
100 here and model o is 120
nice
That’s nice
i need to buy some case foam to make it sound even better
i have the ck62, and no its not. i also checked amazon
Gonna build a GMMK PRO with bobagums silents Its gonna sound sick!
:D
You know building custom keyboards is kinda fun!
I'm waiting for things to arrive now
Mhm. I’m working on a little custom keyboard project myself too
I have a Motospeed ck62 that I’m doing a switch swap, lubing stabs, and eventually key cap replacement
@ionic briar what do you think about the viper mini from razer?
@unkempt dome
its 30 bucks
I've heard good things about it as like it's actually one of the good razer mouse ... I've never tried it but I can tell you it's a small mouse ... smaller than the g305 ...
can you return it if you don't like it ?
for that price I think you should give it a try and return it if you don't like it
no problem ... tell us how it feels ...
btw I've heard that synapse is quite a pain so if you can use the mouse without installing it I would just do that
I love synapse
Never had any problems yet tbh
Mines never caused me issue, and honestly its not hard to use
Well it's better than ghub anyway so
lol
Ghub isnt bad, but I can't say. much as I only ever used it for a G102 prodigy lol
Cheap one I picked up for my laptop, before I got a basilk hyperspeed
I would like a mechanical keyboard that’s under fifty dollars. Any suggestions?
Redragon K552 blue or red switches, red are like $35 USD and the blue are like $45 USD
I’ve had both and they’re both great
The one with blue switches has more lighting
don't plug it
yes you can turn off the lighting ... or get the version without led
Ok
Yes
Thanks everybody
You're welcome
$45 keyboard
I have that same one!
Did you get the blue switches?
Yeah
I agree
I have one
same
it's in pieces right now
Same
might change the switches at some point
Those redragons are surprisingly decent, especially for the money
Yeah
Yes they are good for the price, really sturdy ... but damn those outemu switches are something else in term of spring ping and the fact that the case is quite empty is not helping for the sound
Yea, they sound terrible, still a decent experience on the feel side of things though
They have a linear version? Only handled the clicky (Oh god the pings) and tactile (not as bad but still pretty bad)
Only had the clicky ... yes they can come with linear
They seem to be my go-to recomendation to friends who want to try a mech but don't actually want to spend the money
None of them actually picked the linear though, listening to them game on otemu blues on discord is... suffering >.<
Try to see if they can afford keychron keyboard instead
It will be a way better experience and will have more switch choices
Keychron uses gat 😋
And can come with hotswappable socket
Yup
Honestly not a fan of any of the gat switches I've tried
Not a fan of cherry so ...
Mostly use Kailh Box switches and Cherry MX on my boards. Built a board with Gat Clears last night. Ended up disassembling it and using a different switch in a few hours >.<
I want some non wobble ones to test
Kailh box switches don't have much wobble in my experience
They are often not that expensive also
Good for testing
Yea, the boxes don't wobble much and tend to be quite smooth.
Might get some
latest build is using cherry silent reds (they were the least offensive switch left in my parts box)
Still have Gat Yellows, Gat Clears, Gat Blues, Speed Silvers, MX Blues, Box Whites lying around, can't say I really like any of them >.<
Haven't tried silent red
Its basically MX red but with some bottomout mush
Cause of the rubber dampers
Yea
Box Pinks is probably going to be the next thing i try. Basically a silent box red
Very different mechanism than other silent switches ive seen though
I have silent box brown
Any good?
Box switch….round stem…
hard to come up with a design that'l wobble less than concentric cylinders
Yeah fair
Yes they are good ... bit heavy, strong tactile bump, sharper than on the kailh box burnt orange, bit scratchy tho
60g spring, 65g tactile bump
Hmm, sounds like its not really what I'd want for a tactile unfortunately.
Yea, I'm in the opposite camp of preferring subtle tactile.
QMX-Clipped, Lubed, MX Browns are still my prefered tactile, even if that does make me a heathen
I have the halo true ... long round tactile bump, really nice spring weight ...
I’m team linears
I really dislike mx brown ... probable the worst I ever had
stock browns, ehh, not great
It doesn't make you a heathen. Just someone with a preference.
Add some lube and clips and they become a very different experience
Maybe but they are soldered and I won't desolder them just to lube them ... if I do it it's to replace them
The clips are kind of interesting since they shorten travel from both ends, not just down like Orings
Yea, if its a soldered factory board, just give the clips a try. Gave my two OEM MX Brown boards a new lease on life
I think I dont know what a clip is
Worth a shot if ya haven't tried them, quite different experience from any normal switch out there
Maybe ... I'll think about it
I wanna learn about keyboards
This is the place
We Keeb.
Clickity clackity
Interesting take for sure, can't say I love the layout but I totally get the style.
Looks cool
Pretty cool, I like it. Where are the caps from?
Lol, it's a wooden canoe, so it's literally a canoe haha
Looks like mt3 sukiwater or just some dolch sa set
My pcb for my custom 75 is done!
Cool
Neat, that bottom row seems.... odd
Yeah it's just supports a lot of layouts
Yea, no kidding. Haven't seen a spacebar that swiss cheese in a while
South rgb too
Pretty clean design though. My WIP is a monstrosity to put it mildly.
Looks like just a underglow set of LEDs along the back
Yeah there will be a frosted polycarbonate bar in the back
Whatcha building the rest of the case out of?
6061 aluminum
High profile? Low? Integrated plate? Got me curious now
GMK dolch iirc and jellykey zen pond 2 artisan
Nice
lift off distance
basically the distance from the surface that the sensor stops tracking
nop
u can change that
now gotta get the sens just right
it is
i changed it and it
is
anyone know where the grey and beige keycap set is from?
looks like a gmk set that chyro took from a old cherry board
thanks for the help!
do you remember if it's vintage or not?
would you know of a set with similar colors?
theres these
that's good but i was looking for the font letters to be at the top left.
i did find this set from kprepublic but it looks like they're sold out https://kprepublic.com/products/pbt-dye-subbed-keycaps-cherry-profile-retro-beige-grey-for-ansi-104-mechanical-keyboard-for-cherry-3494-3000-87-tkl-ansi-poker?_pos=17&_sid=c0cd42ffe&_ss=r
thats 9009
close enough
theres these
are those key caps available now?
easy to find on amazon
yea
a plethora of em are available everywhere
hk gaming is one on amazon
and thats one set that i can vouch from hk
beside their history of cloning with no shame

thanks for the help again but I might stick with this set https://drop.com/buy/artifact-bloom-series-keycap-set-vintage
the colors and font are off on this one but it's similar enough to the one in the picture
those look fine
yep
thats a fine keycap set for its price
Is this a good keyboard? Im looking at reviews and it seems to be its pretty good stock, especially for the budget its at
Sure
its also prelubed really nicely, im lookin at reviews and it sounds so good
its good for its price imo
the stab might still suck and rattle but its competitively priced
you can check out the gamakay k61 for maximum rgb and hotswap socket
the typing experience on the k61 will be softer feeling than the akko due to its mounting technique and plate material
Sure
@ionic briar
Thoughts on this?
kinda limited in switch compatibility as there is no standard on optical switches as of now
you will be stuck with gateron optical only
and they dont really have stand out switch in their optical lineup besides the linears
and the weighting might be too light for your liking
just to feel
was not aware they made gateron orange switches
or pink
Dig deeper and the colors won't matter anymore

he seems to also be surprised by that

love the color

Best part is I got the cyber deck for free
A friend is asking me to buy him a 135usd keycap set, should I buy him? I mean, he is a great friend, but I can't afford it plus the group buy is ending August 1
I don't wanna look like a jerk and say I don't have enough money to buy it for him
But also, I just have like 60usd to my name
Look up the word "friend" online
What kind of mouse pad is best for keyboards sound
Is it worth getting a thicker or thinner one for the sound of your keyboard?
should i get a keychrone k6 or k8??
Has anyone heard of this? Is it good https://au.prohavit.com/products/kb487l-tkl-mechanical-keyboard?variant=39354432192710

@junior lodge got my keyboard atlast
it will take longer for me to be comfortable with the keyboard tho
the software is quite complicated
it will take some youtube for me to understand
i have a lot to learn about this keyboard now
anyway will talk later , anatomy classes in 7 minutes

Nice
Any other recommendations on a TKL or 65%, not too pricey, other than OBINSLAB Anne Pro 2?
anne pro 2 is a 60%?
and anne pro 2 is now sub par vs the current offering imo
kemove snowfox/shadow
check the keychron offering ... they have a lot of different layout
looks nice, may be the move
and what switches with it would you recommend?
what are your previous experience with switches?
just gateron browns.
dont like them
right
and do you want something that has more tactile than gat brown or a complete difference experience with linear switches?
may try linear
would you recommend them?
recommend what tho?
linear switches?
yeah.
yea sure
gateron yellow in particular
weighting is pretty close to the gateron brown that you currently have
whereas red would be a noticeable difference in terms of lightness
and black are heavier switches
it's just the fact that the kb i currently have is quite loud
so i want to change it up, try something new
hence why i want to go for linears
oh
then you might need silent switches if gat brown is loud for you
yeah the gateron yellow won't be much more silent than the gateron brown
it may be the fact that its a cheap keyboard as ive been told its an unusually loud sound than normal gat browns
which keyboard you have right now ?
dierya dk61
is it hotswappable ?
i would reckon the case is not that different from the snowfox one acoustic wise
prob the largest difference is the material
couldn't tell you kekw
it's hot swappable with other optical switches
well the one I found on amazon tho
maybe you could try to put some dampening material in the case ...
and would this be done by just taking the keycaps and switches off and placing said material down
well o rings can dampen the sound but it might make the key stroke mushy
also they won't dampen the upstroke, only the downstroke
i'll buy a pack and see how i like them
worth the try, they are not expensive anyway
yeah.
try to find some self adhesive neoprene sheet as case insulation ...
is sorbothane good?
yep
well another type of foam that is good at sound deafening
just like neoprene, just the more expensive version
heavier and quite thick
ok
but i may just use my mousepad as i have a new one coming anyway, lol.
hehehe ... not a bad idea ... just be sure it's not too thick and that it doesn't induce some pressure on the pcb
Just asking, can huntsman TE switches be changed?
that comes with optical switch?
yeah
the lightness of it bothers me
if not, I'll just mod it to improve the sound and hollowness
nope
all the other compatible optical switch with the current one you have are also light af
and its also to do with the super shallow actuation point
that so... Well then i guess I'll just lube and insert some foam or butyl rubber
Not much why you ask
and i wonder how much monster is to the right
@junior lodge did u get your keyboard ?
Didn't order yet lel

oh
How's it though?
i still cant find the option to turn off the option to sleep after 10 mins
Sleep as in?
normal keycaps doesnt work , thats the only downside
Didn't get you
its like selective USB suspend but controlled by my keyboard
the software is soo freaking annoying
