it'll feel mushy if you do it
if you want to sacrifice feel for sound without spending time tuning stabs then go ahead
If you do it incorrectly then yes. It's not mushy on the stabs on my brother's keyboard.
Feels just fine.
Unless it feels like a 1u switch downstroke I would consider it mushy, if it does then nice job.
i hate when people parrot this opinion
It's not that big of a deal for someone new to be careful with using less lube
an easy way to make sure is to just not lube the bottom housing and just lube the stem
which is why its not a beginner lube lol
beginner lube is stuff like 105
where you literally cannot mess it up
Which one of the linear akko switches do you guys recommend? The matcha green ones were recommended but someone said they had ping issues.
ping can be easily resolved by just bag lubing the springs with 105
since you're lubing the switch anyway i say you do the whole thing
Ah alright. Well I like the sound of greens so I’ll go with those. I’ll watch more reviews on them
I wasn’t planning on lubing the switches btw, just the stabs. But I suppose I can lube them at the same time
Which is why I didn’t want to do it yet
yea well try it without lube first i guess
Alright then I’ll go with greens probably and decide if the ping is gonna be an issue
I personally dont mind spring ping since I'm almost always listening to something or too busy with work to notice
I did try to do the topre pcb lube thing once though
my dielectric grease was too thick and ended up causing the springs to stick onto the pcb
F
So I guess at some point I’ll have a keychron k2 with Akko cs greens, lubed stabs and a foam mod
Do you guys think the Logitech G915 TKL is worth it's premium price?
I guess that $300 goes to whatever features you need out of it.
The only things you don't get from an $80~ RK84, though, is the software and the sub-1ms 2.4 GHz wireless.
i haven't seen it in person yet, but with it being low profile and wireless speaks to me
wonder if it would feel nice while gaming tho
If that's what you want, you should probably skip it and get a hotswappable keyboard.
You can get low-profile switches to pop into it.
Like the wireless RK84 I just mentioned.
Or whatever other keyboard is available in Royal Kludge's lineup.
I kinda replaced the keys on this one i currently use, but i'm a bit tired of it 😅
Fair enough.
Are those pudding caps?
Still, I'd rather get a low-end custom keyboard for that $300.
i don't know how to solder 😅 wish i could
Neat. My brother uses them. Personally not a fan of pudding caps but if you like em that’s cool
You don't need to with a hotswap.
Just pull out them switches and push them back in.
There are PCBs with hotswap sockets that do not require solder
oh i didn't know about those 😮
i'll check into them soon, first i want to get some audio tech
don't want to spend on everything at the same time 😛 wifey would get mad
I found a video of someone using Akko switches in my keeb. Nice
⏳ timestamps
00:00 intro
00:20 unboxing
01:08 sound test on z key
01:42 backlight bleed
02:02 top housing fyi
02:21 sound test (stock)
02:51 sound test (lubed)
03:24 conclusion
03:52 akko green v gat yellow
tldr: i highly recommend for a beginner/budget build, especially the matcha greens BUT if you have a bit more budget & don't mind a heavie...
Those lubed and filmed gat yellows tho
saying it like that makes it seem more complicated than it is.
If its more viscous, use less, anyone with a brain can understand that, whether they're new or not.
Just cos they're a beginner doesn't mean they can't follow basic common sense.
you overestimate this community.
got those ocean blues for my first tactile
still have no idea whether i like them or not
Was gonna pick up some Akko switches too
they're definitely tactile and have a rounder top bump but idk if i prefer it
i might pick up some box jades to try out what sharper tactility is like since thoseare relatively budget
Glarses said they have a thicc clicc

cheapest?
ofc it had to be on indian amazon

I dont think they ship that out of india tho
Is it fine that i like the sound of overlubed keyboards?
Preference is preference I suppose.
True lol
Obviously, not a lot of people would recommend overlubing but if that's what you like, hey, you do you.
Honestly luning normally i dont see that jurastic difference
But when i started listening to overlubed switches
I was in love
Jk its cool ig
But are there other bad symptoms to overlubing like damaging the keyboard
Maybe you'll gunk up movement but other than that, I don't know.
Hmmm
it's a big thing though, if the switch is slow from too much lube it just feels bad to use
Hi, I'm looking for something really specific, can anyone help?
A question to ask a question. The classic.
But sure.
Bruh I'm not saving that much anymore :(
Fuck Canadian shipping rates
👀
omg sorry i couldn't reply in time
I'm looking for a 60% design but with the f1 row keys but not in the tkl style, also, I need the arrow keys but the number pad is not needed, hotswap is preferred but not needed
I need it for portability
I'm planning to make it my "typing keyboard" separate from my gaming keeb
I was planning to replace its switches with durock t1's
oh nice!
thanks very much
😄
ok ok, thanks!
So a 65% or a 75%?
There's the RK84
Ah
Oh the dude needs arrow keys.
Pro Mode allow you to fully program any keys with macros and customization.
Wait without software?
compact was the word I was looking for...
I was looking at the product description.
Without any of the TKL keys on the side it looks hella good. Much more symmetrical.
Daaang everything else is on the Function layer.
Man I'm kinda wishing this 70% form factor was more common.
lastly, should i lube the t1's with 203, or 205 krytox?
Something thin, like Tribosys 3203.
Or, at least, don't lube the legs.
I bought a 2 key keyboard, and milky gat yellows and black bottoms, thoughts?
XD
the switches were recommended by a friend
the 2 key keyboard was for osu, and I thought it would be a great practice for lubing
I also bought a pack of 10 durock t1's just to know what it feels like IRL
what rank?
Im not good sorry
not bad
im like 1.1 mil
havent played in a hot minute
what switch u use
get red
switches dont matter
once you finally get back in, prepare, you wont be able to stop
i can
i get rage issues
i get ya
I once did 187 retries trying to get SS
in 1 sitting
dont do that
make s muscle memory
u dont want that
the number was more than 187, 187 nwas just the last number I remember from that day
lmao
i play for fun
i can play in a bit for like 3 rounds if you want

I’m going to Home Depot today to get turf for my pc
Huh?
The pump isn’t at the highest point
Here is a visual representation
The highest point is the top red line
The pump is the lower red line
Yeah
I’m getting a new aio that has a more traditional pump placement, but that one should actually fit on top
Hello rubbishly
Remember me
i finished my custom kb
it looks eh alright i guess
First build anyway
Got much to learn
May we see?
Can’t be that bad
I stained the keycaps
cause
i used those
Plasticy keycaps puller
And not the metal one
Left a stain
It’s simple. I like it
im going to clean it soon
Uh you could try to get letter-less keycaps or ones with the letters on the side
Noted
i wanted to get gmmks
But
The price
Yikes
Abit too much
They are pretty expensive
Yup
people say the qualoty isnreally good
So
I guess you’re getting what you’re paying for
My keycaps are custom to the board so I’m stuck with them
so u cant change em?
I can, they just have symbols for special commands like brightness because this is technically a Mac keyboard
Yeah it is a keychron
ohh
wait
Keychron has custom keycaps to the board?
is it the grey one
greyish keycaps
pretty neat
If you zoom into the function row you’ll see what I mean
I have a keychron too
i changed the keycaps also
Cause i dont really like the keycaps that came with them
But the keycaps itself is still pretty good
Why did that crop so bad?
Can I see ur mousemat
No you can’t have it
Man of culture
It was free :D
Give me uwu
I’ll probably change them at some point. I only use like 3 keys on the function row
yup
Yes totally ... I hate it so much
Is the 205g0 thick enough to donut dip ?
I'm looking for tkl keyboard for 150€ max, what would be the best option?
Could someone point me in the right direction for some nice wireless keyboards?
I encounter 2 issues usually.
One is the low battery life usually being less than 20 hours (i would honestly prefer one with replaceable batteries).
The second issue is that it's really hard to find a keyboard that has my specific keyboard layout that i'm used to which is 'belgian period' I find that i don't even have the option to get this with a lot of brands.
does this look decent for the price? 4 and a half stars, $39.99 normally
What do you guys rekon is a good keyboard with the clicky clicky?
that has to be one of the most amusing descriptions I've read of a mechanical keyboard in a long time
youtube would be a better place to get your answer there are many clicky clicky reviews
Don't get blues
Please
For the sanity of all this world
I thought I'd like blue switches
Oh how I was wrong
You would be dead with kailh clickbar
No
"mechanical feel" keyboard all suck
You get all of the downsides of a mechanical switch
With all the downsides of a membrane
Either get a good membrane or actual mechanical
Also the npet k20 is 4 dollars more with proper mechanical blue, brown, or red switches
Wait a sec
Wtf
dafaq
I mean
Typical stereotype from brands
I hated clicky switches until I tried kailh box white ... and after than kailh box navy ... is still prefer tactile but a lot of time I catch myself missing that sharp click
Yea it does
i know the gen 2 zealios were stupid sharp as well
will there be a low profile brown switch?
or will I be stuck with maybe getting a low profile red
I do like having tactile bump, but I prefer short key travel
Choc brown?
I can type faster on my laptop than on my outemu blue
trying to make a custom choc board is more trouble than its worth
sooo from what I can tell I'd be better off getting a low profile membrane
Boardsource has a ton of split/ergo choc pcb iirc
But then caps finding would still be a pain
mmm
does this look better?

Amazon.com: Redragon K503 Wireless Gaming Keyboard, RGB LED Backlit,Multimedia Keys, Silent Membrane Keyboard with Wrist Rest for Windows PC Games (Black): Computers & Accessories
do you really want a wireless keyboard?
yes
my pc is gonna be a few feet away from my keyboard and I don't trust wired keyboards in case the wires aren't long enough
how many feet is a few feet
uh
you can always get a usb extension btw
3 feet horizontally and 3 feet vertically
vertically as in below
plus, its a double pc setup
a work desktop with a logitech combo m+k and a gaming desktop with whatever I decide to get today
its hard to toss around a wired keyboard when you have two large displays and a small desk
you could get a kvm switch
kvm?
essentially you can use same set of peripherals with two or more different systems
kind of
they have buttons that swap between each
Random question for everyone what's your favorite key switch?
Gateron yellow cause thats the only switch i have used
any type of high-quality membrane switch
MX Red
my laptop scissor switch
That's a bold statement
it's not
I prefer very short key travel
no less than 1.4mm, but closer to 2mm is better
Honorable mention to hp scissor switch on the compaq 6520s
I need a longer key press
If I have a budget of $150, what should I get?
for what use case
Office/gaming
office = quiet?
I've heard that redragon makes some really good clacky boards
do you like tactile or linear
I like tactile or linear
oh so both are fine
I dont like super loud
What if I wanted to make a custom keyboard?

Just wanted to quickly share some typing sounds from the Skog Reboot I built , with Seriko silent linear switches (THANKS KOD)

yes
who the hell doesn't have a keyboard with a numpad
specific sound?
I only want a 60% or 65%
oh.
I like the office vibe
personally I go all out
imo you're sacrificing usability for size with 60%
I can't really use a keyboard without one
Who the hell has a keyboard that looks like this? https://youtu.be/u-tLe78z1jU
This is a tiny little board that's really fun to use and feels good in the hand.

tkl is kinda my preference
all keys + multimedia and macro
WHAT THE HELL
WHI
WHY
There will be ppl that need that specific layout
isnt there like a 30%?
wtf
oh gaming things
I have decided this needs to die
Thats where the niche of the custom keyboard scene comes to play
Only good thing for this is macros
dafaq
OH MY GOD WHY
There will be needs for boards like that
For ppl who just need alphas and number keys for portable essay writing
No backspace I'm screwed
60% is portable enough
no backspace, enter, and why does end matter
delete is the only key I ever use in that realm
It also has a 1 key
So you want the same level of loudness as my example vid?
drop alt any good?
That end key doubles
yes
40s people
Overpriced imo
what would a 10% look like
145usd?
how much would it cost if I wanted to build a custom?
alright then
Alot
Makerkeyboards phantom looking lit
what's wrong with razer
the only peripherals they make that are decent is the deathadder and the basilisk and the variants of the basilisk
Mostly poor price to performance
form over function
ah so certain logitech models
logitech is no diff
Yea
I heard genesis made awesome gear but they don't deliver to the US
yeah but not their budget gaming lineup
even for budget mice, I'd rather take my chances with a redragon or ET mouse
wait what's considered budget mouse?
G213 is meh
Only good stuff imho is g102/g203
Anything under $50
G102 and 203 are the same thing
Yeap
hmm
Look at that insanity
KDA is pretty cool and their music is decent but that mouse design just looks great
at least Razer doesn't name everything "G pro"
lol
G pro mouse, G pro headset, G pro keyboard, G pro mousepad?
hey at least its better than nvidia's naming conventions
Or Windows
REccomendations for custom keybaords under $150?
any mechanical keyboard can be custom with a keycap swap... right?
Let's count to 11 kids. 1 2 3.0 3.1 95 98 2000 XP Vista 7 8 8.1 10 11
"haha yes the 770 is better than the 1030 because that makes sense"
and NT
we don't talk about ME
why
ME was a buggy mess
👆
it booted on my ancient Dell once
before it never booted again
it was terrible
it was as bad of windows as it gets
I can't get it working correctly in a VM let alone a physical machine
(I hated windows 7)
Gk61x barebone kit, akko cs switch of your preference and drop artifact bloom or gpbt
Tho build quality is expected to be meh at that price point
And their usb port has the tendency to break if you disassemble it hastly
I have a PC that runs windows 7
at least
it used to
Thank you
before I gutted it for parts then proceded to do a linus and drop the motherboard
That's the most controversial things anyone has said
nope
It's impossible to hate Windows 7
Chrome sucks.
(insert angry facebook moms here)
in all seriousness Chrome does suck
Can agree on that now. It used to be good
I hated it
Now it's just a RAM hog
I know a few others who do too
personally I use edge
swapped over once I realized that it didn't suck
the performance difference is very noticeable on my low-end machine
what is the closest switch to razer optical reds
felt them at best buy and i loved the travel and speed
Gateron optival silent red?
So traditional mx switch?
Kailh speed silver?
Much heavier tho
Akko cs vintage white
@open vector
None tbh
If you want the most similar switch spec wise
Actuation force and whatnot
Akko cs is pog, ktt oem

I'm building my keyboard right now and my backspace stabilizer is like sticking
I don't know how else to describe it
When I press down on the key it stays pressed down
I am going to try installing the stabilizer again but idk what's wrong
Did you reassemble the stab the wrong way
It is possible I'm going to see
That's what I did and all my other stabs are ok
I'm not sure if this helps but the wire comes unclipped when I try and out the key back on
Popped wire huh
Whats your stab? Durock v1?
I'm going to be honest I have no clue
The ones that come with the ymdk 64
I think they might be cherry
The split keyboard?
Yeah
Plate mount stabs
If you switch a stab that is not scuffed in it will still not bounce back?
Like
Install a stab from the other keys
And the same thing happens?
Oh I haven't tried yet
I think I figured it out, one of the stabs appears to have been put in wrong
Bruh.
I mean I don't know until I try
Time to reassemble the board and but all the switches back in
Yeah that was it
Thank you for all your help though
Today we waste some more money, around $1000 in total, as I reaffirm my superior taste in switches. MX Browns are an endgame-worthy switch, @Glarses can come over and witness. The board is the Forever65 by Drift Mechanics and is a superb board.
Shoutout to @Chiika Ch. 山根ちいか for the amazing art!

Ofc its glarses
Im looking for affordable, palm grip mouse, rgb not needed, wired or wireless, large hands (preferably but not necessarily white)
what counts as "affordable"?
and for what purpose
G502 is decent, deathadder is decent
and is relatively affordable
Im sorry for late reply, I'm looking for a comfortable mouse for binge video editing sessions
And around 50 and 60, I don't know
Usd
for video editing you might want something like an mx master 2s or 3 (can be around 60 when on sale) rather than a gaming mouse
just keep in mind that a g502 can be just as good due to it having so many buttons
and also good for gaming
hey @ionic briar i got the keyboard alongside with their pudding keycaps, i love it
do u want to see pics
anyone knows what this deskmat is?
I know what it is, it is adorable
Way more people than you could imagine
Numpad is useless, it doesn't have anything useful about it, other than "you might prefer the layout over the main part"
true that
saw the video, it sounds wrong what he says about hololive near the beginning...
yep ahahahaha he didnt know what hololive is
I do looks at history
it’s important for some games
afaik u cant really control aircrafts n shit in gta v w/o a numpad
"important" all the keys on numpad are just a 2nd permanently attached keyboard with nothing but the numbers, enter, etc copied over
well all im saying is that u cant play some games w/o a numpad
you can, easily
not like you lose keys like you do with those weirdly popular keyboard layouts
it is whatever you get used to
i personally prefer tenkeyless keyboards, mostly because they use less desk space
and i play w controller anyways
its just sth to keep in mind
preferences, nothing important or required about it, unless you are physically incapable of moving your hands to the main part
is what I mean
well you would have to do a lot of key remapping for some games
you don't have to though, you don't lose numbers, enter, del, etc
they are still there, just less compact
"have to" is a bit exaggerated
the kay mapping for normal number keys and numpad keys r different
Yea no one is going to use a layer to play games
@crimson isle fire up gta v and try to fly like a helicopter or sth w/o a numpad, it was a while since i did that but afaik its impossible unless u remap they keys
would have to own it, lel
i didnt know that theres people who still dont have that game
it was literally free at some point
It is probably because I don't care about games at all, just sometimes play some MMORPGs
so I really do not look around for anything specifically gaming
Then don't talk as if you do
I don't tho
All I am saying is, there is nothing required about it, just preference
The thing is you do require a numpad to fly planes in gta
its literally required for some games
especially when u can just get a keyboard w numpad
Yet to see any game where it is 100% required, (which is pretty much only when you need more keys than anything smaller has)
I don't look around, I see it sometimes coming across some videos or news, but I never really look for it
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Not saying it can't be better you know, not talking about it being better or not
it is 100% required, i think u need to fly to complete the story of gta v and its a big disadvantage in online if u cant fly
idk any more games since i always play w controller, i only know that it’s required for gta v
"100% required" would mean there is no way around it if you do not have it, which is still possible
well yeah but thats a pain
Have you tried a numpad layer on the staggered alpha cluster?
if the game doesnt support it, it is
tbh idk if it has that cause i didnt bother much and just grabbed my controller again
ill check later
flying?
Here I am just looking at some currently available keyboard cases
keyboard.... cases?
don't worry bout it
brb getting a mouse case
ehhh
sorry but what the hell is this
its a $74.00 pancake with the apple logo on it
hmm
Magic mouse is great as a skipping stone pebble
I don't... last gta I played was top view ... I think it was the gta 2 maybe
is that a magic mouse in an airpods max pad?
no its a carrying case for the magic mouse
ummmm u can use the mouse
left click i think
u need more than 1 button
its like 4 or so
for all axes
after all the review I saw ... I got the xtrfy m42 and I'm very satisfied with it
Do you have any name of the mat?
Honestly
I would love a normal mouse with a touch pad for gestures.
Somehow
Like it could replace a lot of buttons and still be relatively light.
Combining gestures would make it even more powerful too, as well as an option to toggle it with one of the few buttons it has.
i was trying to find the exact one on the exact video
It'd be a lighter, more elegant Swiftpoint Z.
i found that one
Details Deskmat: 900mm x 400mm x 4mm Stitched Edges Cloth Top Rubber Bottom
out of stock damn
the shoobs deskmat hmm hmm
no idea what it's called
Anybody know budgeg 60% keyboard
which is better the gk61 or the razer huntsman mini?
Depends on what you want.
gaming
I think Royal Kludge has one.
Any keyboard can be used for gaming. Is there anything more specific?
I guess if you want something dead easy then the Huntsman Mini can work out.
The GK61 is hotswappable but only with optical switches.
But if you're considering the Huntsman then maybe you can also consider the Glorious GMMK? That has 5-pin hotswap with the software and ease-of-use of the Huntsman.
I'm biased toward more flexibility for the price but keyboards are almost wholly preferential.
aiht ty
There's also the Royal Kludge lineup for cheaper, although the software is straight trash. Thankfully, RGB on that thing can be configured right on the keyboard.
My brother has the RK84 and I can attest to its features. It's nuts for sub-$100.
the rk61 where i live is trash and i ain't ordering online since the shipping is like 30$
and that;s the only royal kludge keyboad here
oof alright
Do you care about weight?
Because if you don't I can second the G502. With G-SHIFT it effectively has 21 buttons right on the mouse. Perfect for assigning macros.
Can also cycle through different profiles too, as is the norm for most gaming mice nowadays.
I would also shill the Swiftpoint Z but that's way out of your budget, but I'm just gonna put it out there.
Heyo ! I need advice
My current keyboard has ghosting and some keys are starting to wear out due to my admittedly harsh presses
What is a keyboard in the 40€ range that would potentially suit me ?
I can go higher, as high as 70, but I'd rather stay closer to 40-50
Is it the keycaps that are wearing out? Or the switches themselves?
It's more specifically the spacebar
It gets stuck
And the keyboard is, well, cheap
It's not all that great to type on to begin with and it was supposed to be a placeholder
Saying it's stuck isn't right
The best way I could describe it is that the spacebar is wobbly, harder to press down on the right side than the left side, and when I press it on the left side, it tilts to the left until I press it on its right
I'm not looking to repair the keyboard and am not willing to get custom keyswitches
What I want is a new, ready to use keyboard with a numpad and that doesn't have ghosting (I play fighting games and doing half circle motions or pressing two punches at the same time gets tiring after a while of not having your inputs come out)
If it wasn't for ghosting I'd keep it
Having a 2070 super and 32 gigs of ram alongside a 15€ keyboard isn't great.
I'm aware of my financial decision, dw
So you're looking for a keyboard with a high Key RollOver.
So membranes are out.
I don't really know of any good mechanical keyboard for €40 except for some Redragon models.
May I ask what it does, as far as what I'll experience does ?
You mean a mechanical keyboard? Or KRO?
KRO
Never heard that term before
Despite watching LTT for a year and a half, as well as the keyboards under 75$ video
😅
If anti ghosting makes it so that when I press something it outputs it no matter what other key I have pressed down, what does KRO do ?
And again, if it's good enough, I'm willing to go higher
"KRO" describes the number of keys that can be pressed down at once.
For example, most gaming laptops have a 6KRO, which means up to 6 keys can be pressed down simultaneously.
However, that does not mean you can hold down 6 keys all the time. Only certain combinations.
It depends. Can be different throughout all keyboards.
My GMMK Pro, however, has __N__KRO, which means I can press down every single key at once and it will register.
I'm not sure if there are keyboards under €50 that have NKRO.
Research is required.
Aight. No problem.
NKRO is one of the few aspects on a keyboard that's objectively better if it has it. But otherwise, it's almost always preferential.
This one seems to fit the bill
Achetez The G-Lab Keyz RUBIDIUM E Clavier Mécanique Gaming AZERTY FR Haute Performance - Clavier Gamer Red Switch - Rétro-éclairage Full RGB, Anti-Ghosting, Repose-poignets Magnétique - PC PS4 Xbox One (Noir): Amazon.fr ✓ Livraison & retours gratuits possibles (voir conditions)
You should be able to use the google translate plugin
I'm a filthy baguette person
IT states that it has N-Key Roll Over technology
Granting full ghosting proof from all 105 keys
Is this brand generally trustworthy ?
Never heard of them, but it's best practice to try to research the keyboard itself.
It's the cheapest I've found that has everything I want
and is on amazon
I can only order from there as my university residence doesn't allow us to mail packages there
I have an amazon locker 5 minutes away, which makes things much simpler
Oh, nevermind
Scrolled way down and found a logitech one
I'll try to do my own research to see if reputable keyboard offer this at a lower price
Thank you very much for your help !
I was assuming there wouldn't be any NKRO keyboards at that price point but apparently there were.
arent gk61s nko
Doesn't say that they are so I don't know.
i don't wana make a custom keyboard
it's more expensive than just getting a geek or epomaker gk61
i found a gk61 but for some reason the guy has 2 different switches on it
black and red
why
yeah but 2 different switches?
Yes.
Maybe he wants to type with tactiles for their feedback but game with a linear for their smoothness.
they are randomly scattered
he likes to think he is a cool and quirky person
what i didn't understand is why didn't he keep the other switches
i think he bought new switches but only got like 30 on accident
Not sure if you can even get 30-packs.
You can get 10-packs though.
That feeling when you order a new keeb and are like "Eh $^@%! it. Gateron Clears"
lmao
I almost did that with the Kailh Polia. And then I saw the shipping.
Hehe, finally got my GMMK order notification. Decided I didn't want to use anything out of my switch box since all the switches in there ended up in there because I took them off something >.<
I KNOWWW
I am not spending half of that price on shipping when I don't really need it :(
bruh
Yoooo they're hard undercutting the GMMK Pro damn.
I really hope it does well because they really need a hit right now.
Even comes in multiple colours. Really hope they add an e-white to them.
Oh wait they do have a white option. Kinda wanna see it now.
I need some more recommendations for a TKL keyboard with linear switches. Anybody have any good ones that are aesthetically pleasing. Currently eyeing a Varmillo VA87M Sea Melody. I wanted to get the Akko World Tour Tokyo 87-Key TKL, but the shipping fee would've doubled the price of the keyboard
yea go varmilo
theres the fc750r too
https://mechanicalkeyboards.com/shop/index.php?l=product_detail&p=4247
alright, think I'm just gonna go for the Varmilo Sea Melody, thanks for the recommendation tho
Is this room appropriate for mice too?
i wanted to recommend a product i recently got myself, as it fills a niche that i'd struggled to get at an affordable price for ages
i like using bluetooth, but i like having horizontal "tilt wheel" scrolling, and struggled to find a mouse offering that for years
finally found the M590, ordered 2 off aliexpress for about £20 each, and after tightening the wheel (1 screw, pair of pliers on a metal lever, 5 minute job) it's the best mouse i've ever had
You put your money in the right places, don't worry about it
Most of the time when it claims nkro it's usually something like 6 kro
I know 😅 I just didn't expect to keep the keyboard for that long
is that a real subreddit
yep
What’s a good budget hotswap keyboard that doesnt make your wallet cry?
I can only think of the GMMK, but that's a far cry from not making your wallet cry
Yea that looks really good
Late August is the shipping time, just so you know.
my new membrane keyboard just came in and I love it
I saw a video talking about how keychron isn’t the best option anymore
or just might get new switches for my shadow
I’m gonna order new switches for my k2
what tactiles u reccomend
And then eventually make a custom board
i wanna feel some decent tactiles
Holy Pandas are popular, they might be good. There’s also the budget Akko CS Blues
It’s a tactile so probably not
@hasty saffron hey do you know of any quiet tactiles?
Browns aren’t that tactile, they feel like linears with an every so slight bump
If you told me they were linears though I would believe you
Hm
I can’t think of anything
quietish
not loud or not quiet
t1?
or boba u4
aliaz 70g
might just save my moneys and not buy her a keeb
Uh, there’s the silent box browns which apparently are a bit scratchy but are quiet
Boba makes a silent switch too
Rubbishy probably knows something so wait for them
im just not gonna buy my mom a keeb
she will probz hate it anyways
but i would like some tactile switches
Kailh silent box brown, aliaz silent, bobba u4, zilent, probably gateron silent brown ?
for me tho
for my rk61 or smth
gk 61 mabye
i might try those
or jusst get gud with my reds
interesting keeb
kind of wish steel plate would make a comeback, seems like you almost never see it offered anymore
yea, makes for a super rigid typing experience on most switches, makes the "mushy" silent switches feel a lot better tho
I find ALU much to flexy for those personally, never tried brass in a case that was rigid enough
Still daily driving an old first gen filco majestouch with a new microcontroller swapped in, despite owning like 9 keebs from various GBs
Was a group buy for the controller & PCB to do the mod on geekhack almost a decade ago >.<
Tempted to do my own design at somepoint, have access to most of the tools needed. Being lazy AF has its downsides
links? google fails on super generic keeb names >.<
found it
ah, zfrontier, yep
Hmm, actually kinda like that board. fullsize enough but not fullsize
Lol, pretty obvious what word did that
ah
the 1800 layout
Tempted to do a 70% if i do make something from scratch, no arrows and no nav
seems like there are a few takes on 70%
Oh look all the glass man server people are here
Is this good for a 100?
Ah the invisi 45
Oh a Logitech. Uh they’re not great
But for 99 because the others are 200
Nah I wouldn’t recommend it
I need one like this xD
With media keys been asking here but never got an answer
Well it might be okay. I just personally don’t like how they feel
Is that Logitech one the cheapest you can get?
alright, hopefully you like it
im about to buy akko matcha green switches. these are good for the price right?
and also what lube should i get for my stabs and switches?
205g0
thick enough for stab but thin enough for linear
Got it thanks
you know where to buy it from?
Amazon?
maybe
where are you from?
US
then yea amazon is like the last place to buy lube
especially in small quantities for lubing switches
one sec
Oh
https://keyboardlube.com/
https://divinikey.com/collections/lubricant
https://dangkeebs.com/collections/lubricant
https://digital-carpentry.com/collections/keeb-supplies
https://415keys.com/collections/lubricants
https://3dkeebs.com/collections/lube
just a few

my logitech g910 orion spectrum is having some register issues
when i press aa akey once it either registers multiple times or doesnt register at all
i cant ask my brother when he brought it, i would need a shovel for that
sounds like either bad contact on the switch or the solder joint on that particular switch failed
a majority of the keys are like this so its most likely the first one, which makes a whole lot more sense because i dont have a keyswitch removal tool so im not able to clean out any dust
but the romer g themselves has an extra contact leave just in case one of em fail
im thinking the usb control on the board has issue?
again idk when my brother bought this but ik its well over a few years old and this has only happened recently
literally 415keys... actually it's 500
okay ill order from keyboardlube. they're the cheapest for a 3ml. ill get 105 from divinkey some other time when i decide i need it
Hey, what are some good silent switches? I’m gonna get the gk64x.
few questions
- linear or tactile?
- silent as in with rubber on the stem or just not extremely loud?
- I hope you mean the gk64x mechanical, not optical in this case?
@chrome raft ^
Tbh, I have no idea, I just don’t want the switches to be loud. And it should be mechanical yeah.
The ones with the rubber are prob more expensive too?
yep, it's the mechanical
and yes, it is
cheapest are around 50c/switch, give or take
but it can already help to just go for heavier switches to some, because they type heavy (I'm one of them)
decent linears start at around 20c, tactile can be a bit more expensive considering most of the low end is or is similar to brown switches, which have rather little feedback for a tactile switch
and clicky is obviously out of the question here
Yeah, 50c a switch is okay for me
I just want something, that’s good and silent
Aliaz 60g/70g/80g/100g
Durock Daybreak/Dolphin
Gateron Ink silent black/Silent black/Silent brown/Silent red/Silent clear
JWK Silent alpaca
Kailh Box Silent Pink/Silent Brown
Keebwerk Tacit
Zealpc Healios/Rosélios/Zilents/Sakurios
that's pretty much the options you have in silent switches
to be completely honest, I don't like silent switches myself as I can clearly feel the rubber-y bottom out
Yes totally ...
but I can say good things about all 3 of the manufacturers involved here
which are Durock/JWK, Kailh and Gateron
Kailh silent box brown have a really nice tactility, kinda silent, bit mushy, slightly scratchy
it's only that it's still a brown
so the tactile force is a bit more than say a Cherry brown, but it's still not a whole lot
which some people like, but still
I don't really want the switch to feel werid, so I guess i'll buy something different.
I just don't want it to be as loud as idk, kailh speed golds.
I said I didn't want golds
I said nothing about gold
haven't tried them myself yet
and gold is an extreme example, obviously
but most linear and tactile switches are relatively silent, just not as silent as a silent switch
so it's a compromise you make at one of two points
I got some halo true used and they were lube by the old owner ...
They are not that loud when lubed ... well compared to the other switches I tried ... also it's the first lubed switches I have
Gateron milky yellows sound pretty good too.
The only way to truly know is to try them out yourself.
Or to find a force graph and extrapolate from there lol
I think i'll just go for the gateron milky switches
What makes the kiwis special ?
they're limited run, but not that special in what they actually are
considering most JWK/Durock switches will feel similar
and milky yellows are decent, so is most of Gateron's budget side
it's just between red, yellow and black as far as weight goes with linears
Which rk boards do you guys recommend for TKL, Good RGB and Hoswappable
can anyone suggest a good keyboard for me?
What size @bitter flicker
tkl or 60%
i will
Do you have a budget?
I already set him up with a good one @pallid trout
Nothing wrong with options.
max 150 60% or tkl
Ooooohhh.
Keychron is coming out with a Q1, a 75%, if you don't mind.
Otherwise, there's a bunch of options from Varmilo, Royal Kludge, etc., as well as the GMMK, if you want something now.
Speaking of which is the GMMK Pro worth getting? I like the look and it seems like a good starter
What’s that supposed to be like?
Oh, a Keychron-ified GMMK
o
wow thats cheaper than the gmmk
nice !
i like the gmmk layout so ill consider the Q1 if its good
I never got the point of TKL. I use the numpad all the time, it's a lifesaver when entering numbers
More compact, and people might want that aesthetic.
When it launches, yeah. But again, I'd wait to see what the Q1 turns into.
Q1 pre-orders start July.
IIRC it starts shipping late-August.
GMMK Pro is already a really good value barebones.
Q1 is positioned to overtake that.
if its good ill consider it. it seems like a nice board to have
could even transfer my parts from my current k2 into it
It's a 75%
they're both 75%
assuming the gmmk is the same layout
heres the k2
its missing a few keys but they're the same otherwise
i see this keycap set is ready for windows 11
Can I ask for recommendations here for keyboards or is that frowned upon?
I could just be a bad typist, I don't have an office job so I don't spend that much time typing.
I bought a logitech G910 a year or so ago and the experience has been horrible.
My key strokes either don't register or they register to many times, so I spend more time fixing typos than typing usually.
Because I don't know if the problem is me or the Romer G switches, I'm unsure if I should look for a keyboard with linear or tactile switches?
I'm looking for something quiet/silent
full size not 10 keyless
budget is basically whatever suits my needs
you can get a keychron c1 for like $50 and swap the switches with boba u4 silent.
u sure?
lol
lol its fine

jx87

And we dont' have the double rainbow variant as well
What about royal klutch
Its fine for its price
Tho outemu basics do have a rep of dying
As for the royal klutch or varmilo
outemu is royal kludge, varmilo uses cherry or kalih switches iirc
