No one would buy them
oh didn't linus do a video of like full metal keyboard or smthg
really? theres ppl who buy random useless crap that costs thousands of dollars all the time
Artisan collectors make me cringe
Like?
like the gel that makes your no.2 gold
idk gold plated pens?
Who the fuck buys gold plated pens?
yea and that toilet paper made of gold
rich people?
also toilets made of gold
Rich people don't buy things like artisans
eh, gold/silver pens don't have to be crazy expensive tbh and sometimes htey can be really amazing. but it's easy to take it too far, i mean if you earn millions of dollars a year $2000 is a drop in the ocean
There is no physical value in artisans
also there weas this rich guy in india who made a whole shirt and pants out of 18k woven gold
rich ppl dont care abt substance
they just want the most expensive
stuff
Why do rich people buy expensive cars but don't drive them then?
yea but its also about street cred
It's an investment
i doubt uberr rich are buying artisanal stuff from etsy
yea like im not talking abt all rich ppl just the ones that are into collecting random stuff
i dont expect bill to buy 100 keycaps
but im almost certain if lilly pichu comes across them she would get them
would be funny if like timapple would have come on stage every keynote with a really gaudy looking keyboard full of artisanal keycaps
Lilypichu is not a millionaire
lmao
yes but she has enuf money
who dat?
offline tv
Micheal reeve's gf
what im saying is that
you will always have buyers
no matter how cray cray ur idea is
Yea like one every 5 months lmao
thats all u need when ur selling for such a steep pric
500 bucks every 5 months is not worth the effort of making 100 separate molds
rolex is just a regular watch ppl pay hundreds of thousands of dullahs fr that
500 is much too low for 100 keys
lets say 10000 dollars for 100
Standard price for a artisan is 50 bucks
Even artisan collectors will realise you're trying to rip them off
Nvm I'm dumb
the point is u cant make a living off of it but u will have buyers
??
wer assuming time and effort are worth nothinggg
And sell lots of those
thats planb if the artisan thing goes sideways
If we do assume that, your proposition is already unrealistic
That how all artisan makers operate
Why innovate when you can just milk it
There's no point
Keyboard people have alot of money to spend
well
Just let them give it to you
intel before ryzen be like
lmao so tru
i still dont understand how such a smol company is taking on the worlds leading chip designer
Amd is not small
doesnt amd have loke 1000 employees
relatively
They are simply not as large as intel
Isn't that the definition of "smaller relatively"?
wrote the message before he sent that
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005001948504011.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.0.0.655a181fags6Y4&algo_pvid=baa076b5-9d1b-4c14-a568-01c4c8abdd69&algo_exp_id=baa076b5-9d1b-4c14-a568-01c4c8abdd69-1 are these durock t1s genuine?
Smarter Shopping, Better Living! Aliexpress.com
prob but thats overpriced
where are you from, i can hook you up with regional or local retailer that stock those
uk lol
need a 90pc at the very least since i'm upgrading a keychron
they only have smokey housing tho
smokey is fine
ooof £54 for 90
thats why i asked if that link had genuine ones, cus its cheaper than anywhere else i can find that sells t1s
yes tbh
Intel is the biggest name in PC for tens of years
ok and what made you think i needed to be reminded of that fact?
Nothing is as big as Intel lol
whow
thats is bold statement there sir
but that doesnt answer my question does it?
it doesnt lmao
amd bigger rn
for high end
Still debating about durock t1 vs boba u4t
those linears?
darn then idk anthing about them
im linear gang for life
have you ever tried gateron reds
No I have gateron yellow
buy the bobas
Why those?
you'll be supporting a cool guy
and if you keep trying to choose you wont end up buying either
Or buy a few samples switches of both and choose then
Those two are expensive
I don't want to spend that amount of money on a switch I won't sure about
Which if those two have the sharpest tactile bump ?
you can literally just resell for what you paid since you have a hotswap
I don't sell on Ebay
mechmarket
I don't ship stuff that more like what I meant
okay then ask on reddit
because non of us here have tried either switch
unless someone would like to correct me
Ok I'll see if I can find which one has the sharpest tactile bump ... I want something close to the bump a click bar can provide
what's the difference between a c3 kiwi and a durock t1?
both use the exact same stem but idk what the difference is between the two that makes them appealing to some people other than the color
poly top, nylon bot, pom stem
theres also a fully pom t1
called durock koala
best keyboard in the price range of the keychron c1 for typing and gaming in GBP, want it to be TKL but can also be full size so for around about £50-55
not in the price range of the c1
kk thanks
A gk64 exists right?
hexgears gk707/705
There is no real difference other than the changes that c3 claim they have to the housing
Which the newer JWK molds match anyway
There's a lot of decent budget boards nowadays
eh you quote the wrong guy?
He was talking about keyboards the whole time above, then Ryzen was in quotations as an analogy
Only in response when you mentioned Intel
that looks good i might just go for the c1
its all lubed and stuff
where?
you mean the pre lubed stabs?
theres no mention of pre lubed stabs or switches in their marketing for the c1
@ashen finch
nope
the best is that they come with pre lubed stabs
which is most of the time inconsistent and doesnt do anything
Same should apply to the hexgear too
yep
the hexgears come with a better stock clicky whereas the c1 comes with a better linear option imo
What are some good boards to get under $120? I already have a set of keycaps. Just looking to complete it.
Must haves:
- Good RGB
- TKL Layout
- Good build quality without minimal sound
where are you from?
Malaysia
rakk lam ang pro?
Are the gk87 and sk87 both pre built?
nope
both are barebones with no switch and caps
hey does lubing switches make them quieter and reduce spring ping?
What are the pricing on them
As in normal market price
reduce spring ping yes
quieter depends on the viscosity, the amount of lube you applied
205g0
it might
but from my experience its quite suble
i think imma do it if i can get it for cheap
and some of my gat reds are scratchy for some reason
gk87 is 79 usd wired, 89 dual mode wireless
sk87 is 99 usd
Alright thanks will take a look
Are the rk keybaords better than the ones you recommend btw
its like entry level
at that price go with gamakay if available
As in the rk isn't build as well as the gk and sk?
kinda
also they use basic outemu which are patchy in terms of quality control
Oh I see, do you know which pins they use?
For like the switches
the gk and sk?
they dont come with switches
they are just the pcb and case and plate
you will have to buy switches to plug into the board
which iirc both accepts 5 pin switches
Oh then I'll just need to get switches and keycaps separately and that's all right
yea
which you told me that you already have keycaps
Yup I do
Which keycaps do you recommend me getting for silent experience with the keyabord
keycaps doesnt really affect the sound level of a board tbh
its more to do with the switch, plate, case i think]
Whoops I meant switch
I miss typed it
I was thinking of like linear switches
but I'm not sure on which ones since there's so many
If possible, something like these specs
Actuation Force: 45 G
Travel Distance: 3.5 mm
Actuation point: 1.2 mm
Which is something like the razer yellow switches
I like the feeling of it, but it's not that silent
Like the part where the keycaps hits the baord makes a rly loud sound
thats because of the plastic to plastic contact between the stem and the housing
Oh I see, would the sk87 and gk87 have the same problem
no
cause thats on the switch
not the board
Since they're both gonna be plastic as well right
it might sounds hollowy
As in, it doesn't hit the board?
yea
the switch doesnt hit the board
the stem inside the switch hits the housing of the switch, creating sounds
Oh, do you have like a sound test example of that?
Also is that softer than the one I'm experiencing?
i mean
all sound test are like that
the housing of the switch stays secure on the plate of the keyboard, not making sound
its the cross thingy that you put your keycaps in that travels and create sound
See full build & review vid : https://youtu.be/z8H233BUGgY
Just wanted to quickly share some typing sounds from the Skog Reboot I built , with Seriko silent linear switches (THANKS KOD)
Skog Reboot (sorry GB closed) : https://percent.studio/products/skog-reboot
The switches : https://zambumon.com/portfolio/seriko/
Track: A Breath of Fresh Ai...
it could sound like this
in terms of loudness
not exactly sounds like the example i gave
Oh the sound is very silent
I like this kind of sound HAHA
Would the loudness be like this XD
yea
more or less
def sounds quieter than your razer yellow
Yup that's for sure softer
Which switches would you recommend me to go for?
Have to be below $25 tho
Since I've used so much for my board HAHA
gateron silent, kailh box silent pink, durock dolphins
that sounds like gateron silent
Oh are there more options?
Also I saw that, there are like 5 gateron silent switches
Which ones would best suit me
gateron silent red
more options means more expensive price
Oh I see, so you're saying gaterons are my best bet for the price
Alright thanks I'll take note of it
yea
for your given price
theres outemu silent basic switches as well
but im not sure if the quality control is better
What's the difference between normal gateron and silent gateron
Would there be a lot of difference between sound
like the loudness of it
there are rubber injected to the part of the stem where it will make contacts with the top and bottom housing
which dampens the sound quite a lot
0:01 Gateron Silent Red Linear 45g stock
2:11 Gateron Silent Red Linear 45g lubed
Keyboard: KBDfans Tofu 60% Aluminum
Plate material: Aluminum
Keycaps: Cherry PBT Black on White
Switches: Gateron Silent Red Linear 4.0mm travel 45g Actuation
Stabilizers: GMK screw in, lubed and clipped
Lube: Krytox 205g0 (Spring Krytox 105)
Links
Keyboard: http...
These are just silent reds right
yep
for normal gateron
i use em
gateron yellow
but my sound test is more silent than the other due to proximity effect from mic placement
Oh I see
Do you know the pricing for both silent and normal? As in market price
my gateron yellow was 0.25 per switch
silent is a tad more expensive iirc
sea
malaysia
SEA
Malaysia
I think it's cheaper at my region
Oh I see, thanks for the info
I already decided to get pudding keycaps already AHHA
Oh wow thanks so much
and this
Alright thanks
It's $120 without keycaps only
So I'm trying to split between board and switches
Must haves:
- Good RGB
- Hotswappable
- TKL Layout
- Good build quality without minimal sound
Oh yeah I forgotten to ask, are the sk87 and gk 87 hotswappable?
Alright thanks
if it doesnt
it wont come without switches
there isnt a optical gk87 as far as i know
yea
from the vendor list we posted or from your good old shopee and lazada
not everyone here lives in asia
This one doesn't come with the switches right
yup
The gk actually looks rly good, I think it looks better than the sk
In terms of rgb
Also are these considered entry level or are these high end keyboards already
entry level low budget for custom and semi custom mech
an example
tgr jane going for 5k usd on aftermarket
I saw those razer hunstman for like $200 but those are like high ends right
nah
still entry level
if anything i feel like razer boards are not accurately priced
like the build quality of em are worse than leopold boards
Oh I see, what about ducky keyboards?
I saw the ducky one 2 series looks rly good
Those are entry level as well?
yea
100-250 to me is still entry level territory for custom mechs
Oh alright thanks
could you tell the difference between entry level and those mid tiers
most entry level cut cost by using more stiff mounting config like tray mount, top mount cause its easier to manufacture
the case commonly comes in plastic or some sort of acrylic (tho things like gmmk pro is aluminum and it has pretty good value)
doesnt have many plate material option, usually limited to only alumium
Oh I see, and what about budget switches and those more expensive ones like you recommended
tho again
there are many custom mech recently that is breaking those stereotypes
like ikki68 with gasket mounted mouting style
gmmk pro comes in with okay aluminum case
kbd67lite is another honorable mention
entry level you have gateron yellow and the whole akko cs lineup of switches
mid range could be composed of durock switches, outemus designed by gazzew, ktt, kailh box clicky, nk dry series and so on
Alright thanks
What's the difference between mid range and entry level?
Like how do you tell them apart
And also when I get the switches, do I need to relube it and all?
smoothness of the housing tbh
and price
mostly price
cause tactility level and click sound pitch is subjected to personal preference
Oh alright thanks so much!
When you say standard gateron, does that include silent gats? For entry level
nop
all non silent switch
excluding things like gateron inks, linjar, mito collab and whatnot
Oh I see
What are some recommended silent switches
Yup that's right
How much are they btw, just wondering
are those box brown/pink silent switches good?
What about those entry level budget ones HAHA
0.38 per switch for 70 gat silent red from novelkeys
Are gat silent the only good entry level silent switches?
no
there are outemu silent as well
24 usd for 60 switch
Smarter Shopping, Better Living! Aliexpress.com
but again
not sure if those has better qc than the basic outemus
any thought about the system 76 keyboard ? ... I've seen the short circuit video featuring Antony ... I thought that the keyboard was looking really interesting
but probably you can build something about the same or better with the same amount of money
yea
the big thing they marketed is that their usb passthrough hub can do high speed connections, so you can transfer datas through it without the need for an extra hub
which is fine if youre going to buy a keyboard and a usb hub
but imo, you can buy each part seperately and get the same result
otherwise, the modifiers will be a pain for keycap buying since now you will have to buy extra kits for small modifiers from gb sets
qmk is nothing new
I'm pretty sure that I won't change the keycaps ... also I already have two sets of dsa that I can match with the OG keycaps if I want to ...
it would most likely be for the layout that I find really nice, the hotswap of course (not sure if it's 5pins compatible) the split spacebar that is kinda interesting ... and I see myself using the hub also
yea
tho i would hope that keyboard reviewers get this to have a look at the build quality
cause from what i saw from the renders they look cheap compare to say the gmmk pro
I was thinking about getting the gk64 or gk68 I think those are called ...
like the floating key design makes me feel like they use super thin metal for the case
well the gmmk pro doesn't interest me ... it's expensive and I don't have any use for the wheel
yea
gmmk pro is 170 usd barebones
27 usd for 90 box white from novelkeys
that leaves you with 87 usd for caps and a usb hub
launch is 285 usd btw
is there any decent usb hub for 36usd?
no idea ...
cause thats the total for a gmmk pro with the same spec as the launch
without the usb hub part
well I like the look of the system 76 more than the gmmk
the staggered 3 bottom row trips me off
but thats just me getting used to standard layout 75%
dunno if the staggered will help in ergonomic like the marketing said
but each of their own tbh
well I would like a standard bottom row more but it's kinda hard to find
maybe I'll just stick with a 60% or tkl and call it a day
yea
sad that the snowfox doesn't have 5 pin switches support
womp womp
welll cutting off the 2 other prongs doesnt really hurt much
maybe ... but I would want to avoid that
it does?
leemmie check
mine doesn't
it does
ill show a pic
nvm my phone dead
but yea my new one does
like 1 month old
Still mine doesn't
oofers
get a new one ez
I'm not gonna get the exact same keyboard just to have 5 pins support
lmao
I'll get something else
id build a cheap one
rn, i have the cash but i just bought this
are there any actual stores for keyboards
irl
no
not here
only bestbuy and they only have corsair, razer and logitech ...
not even glorious
anyway gtg now
have a good day
tangies or mints?
nothing really wrong with a 3 pin hotswap as long as the plate is good
yea
Well you can't put 5 pin switches in unless you mod them and I don't want to mod the switches
Not by cutting part of them
more stability?
It does that, yes.
But he's mostly right. They're just for stability and nothing more.
yes
and 3 pin is pretty stable
do you think mints are good?
Sold in packs of 10 Linear 5 pin 68g spring UHMWPE Stem Polycarbonate housing 4.00 mm travel DinoFilms V2 are compatible with these switches but offer minimal benefit Please Note: All lubed switch orders are made to order. Fulfillment depends on the current workload. Current turnaround time: 3 business days.
or should i wait til tangies are in stock
I realized that I never shared my keyboard build here. Gk 61 in a 3D Printed case from Bs3DPrintShop, TEX ADA Keycaps, and Glorious Panda Switches
I also had to stuff the case with bubble wrap to make the case sound less pingy
nice
The only way to know is to try it yourself, unfortunately.
I find that describing a switch’s feeling is like describing food to someone, everyone has their own preferences so there isn’t really an unbiased opinion
yep
Would have liked another layout
i will wait until i save up, first priority is desk and mac air tho
then mabye tangies will be in stock
i like that
Redragon's boards are some of the only options under $40 I'd actually trust to have decent build quality
I'm using a Redragon K552 at home myself right now until my GRID 650 comes in
I just returned my 60% from reddragon because some of the keys stopped working. so im looking for a dif keyboard and also blue switches sound annoying af
Amazon.com: Mechanical Gaming Keyboard, E-YOOSO Red Switches Hot Swappable Wired Gaming Keyboard with Blue Backlit & RGB LED Sidelight,Three-Color Keycaps 87 Keys Gaming Keyboard for Windows Mac PC Gaming: Computers & Accessories
It'll probably be about the same quality or slightly worse than the redragons
In terms of the overall board
I agree, personally I can't stand blue switches
I only have the redragon because it's cheap haha
They're unbelievably scratchy
ew
Gateron browns are quite nice though
Brown imo
Because Tactiles > clickies for me
I found a better keyboard but they dont state if its gateron browns or just cherry
Cherry browns aren't bad, I just feel that the gaterons are better
how bout the sound?
But usually if it's a cheap board it'll probably not be Cherry first party
Tactiles all sound basically the same unless they're very unusual
ah
The keyboard is what defines 99% of the sound (except for clickies), and it's going to sound hollow/not super quiet because it's cheap
ye
check this out for
Amazon.com: NPET K20 Mechanical Gaming Keyboard, Wired Backlit Keyboard with Red Switches, Customizable RGB Lighting, Ergonomic Standard Keyboard for Desktop, Computer, PC (104 Keys, Black): Computers & Accessories
For $30 I wouldn't complain at all if it's got linear switches and reprogrammability
yeah like, as long as the product page isn't outright lying I would be happy if it just meets the claims with ok build quality on that page
some of the reviews say it used to be a 20%
$25 is the same price I spent on the stabilizers in my current keyboard build project lol
but they changed it?
lmaoo
gaterons are almost always better
oh yea jesse do you have any tips for my to type better
im learning to look at the monitor instead of the keeb
try one of many touch typing courses online?
you ping everyone but you respect jessie
🙂
sus
Basketball legend Allen Iverson has some wise, universal advice for that:
"Practice."
which top modules did you get for Grid?
Anyone know of any good wireless keyboards under €80 (95$)
Maybe something from Royal Kludge?
My brother has an RK84 and it's great.
Sounds decent too.
Though the software is ass.
I'll check it out now! Appreciate it
Aight.
The RK84 my brother got is both 2.4 GHz wireless and Bluetooth, hotswappable, fully serviceable, has RGB that's configurable right on the keyboard, has angle extenders to change your typing angle, and has a removable faceplate so you can choose between a low-profile and a high-profile look.
It's plastic but has an aluminum plate.
It's also compatible with 5-pin switched. RGB is north-facing, though.
thoughts on gateron optical yellows
Too light for my fingers

You'll be fine.
Just don't bend the pins.
(You can bend them back but it's good practice not to.)
Thank youuuuu
Which ones would you guys choose? Without considering pricing. And why?
Sk87 or Gk87
should i flip my space bar?
yea i lik eit better
idk
it's beter for typing
idk how i'll like it for gaming though
but i'm not gonna flip my space bar everytime just to play games
i mean i guess it's fine'
So if I have a all white setup what would be some good cool key caps for like 60 or under
Does anybody know any 60 or 40% keybord that are wirelles, hotswap, and have screw in stabs?
Finally installedthe Tacit. V2s.
kemove shadow is nice
it is wired/ bluetooth
hotswap with any mx style 3 or 5 pin
and has gateron switches

Gateron switches? Aite then, any recommendations for TKL's within that price range?
150 USD

Aite, thanks for help
rgb?
Not really a necessity, maybe just single colour backlight

but the switches are so light
How light are they compared to cherry MX red
they are 45g actuation and 50 bottom out
I'm gonna do some more digging around, but adding that to the list for consideration though. Thank for the help man
I know some people disagree with LTT's keyswitch video, but I just swapped out 2 boards for sherbet and tangerine 62g. Loving the feel of both. Damn though, expensive hobby, and I wish more boards had ISO layouts.
tangies the best

or just get a plain one
i have a plain keeb
or get the set of the mousepan and rest
those look like browns lmao
congrats you're so smart
would you like me to judge his switches for absolutely no reason at all too?
judge
verb
gerund or present participle: judging
form an opinion or conclusion about.
"a production can be judged according to the canons of aesthetic criticism"
how the fuck can you do that while looking at a board with caps in it
is that stereotyping?
They're HyperX reds
this
Also I posted the pics bc I just got the keyboard and I love it
True u were close
anyone know of a good budget keyboard that has the travel and feel of a laptop keyboard?
$30-50 is preferable
the best I can find is the logitech K380 and K480

this one seem to know about some future macbook pro model lol

I've never seen a proper chiclet keyboard in the form of a separate wireless one
the apple magic keyboard is chiclet but idk if you can use it on windows
yeah ok, i might try and see whether i can find one of the old USB magic keyboards
Are you able to use novelkey creams with a drop ctrl not high profile
yes
Do you have to cut they don’t or anything cause of the rgb or whatever on the side
uh no i dont think so
yes
you need to cut off the 2 plastic legs cause the pcb only supports 3 pin switches
Can you please send a tutorial link
literally just get a flush cutter and cut off the 2 plastic legs
cut pin 3 and 5 here
HyperX ngenuity is my first keyboard software AND I LOVE IT. i can sync my keyboard to my rgb light strip, whereas i cant with my mouse
Hey, I got a tofu 65 with epbt Miami nights and it's cool but idk where I want to put the accent keys
It has eight: two cherries, one detailed cherry, and a heart for both r4 and r1
Idk what I want
why are you asking us though
its your keyboard
if you don't know where to use them then don't use them at all
btw i did manage to find some, the microsoft surface keyboard, a couple random brand keyboards, and i think the microsoft bluetooth keyboard is also chiclet
but dont quote me on that last one
also the red dragon K502 is chiclet style
I am Buying a new keyboard coz my huntsman mini broke after just a month and half, i am decideing between a ducky one 2 SF with cherry mx speeds or a corsair k95 with cherry mx speeds, i am not worried about the price difference tho, can soemone help me decide
yea neither
womier k66/yc66, alperionkeys hotswap 65%, womier k87, keychron k6
leopold fc660m or leopold fc980m
epomaker ep84
if you want something more fancy leopold fc660c
thx i'll take a look at them
is the leopold fc660m a hot swappable keyboard and are the stabilizers easy to lube??
no
its a cherry board
modding is quite the process
but its a quality prebuilt
@void veldt .
i can tell especially compared to the sound of a huntsman mini
that its more quality?
i am looking at a budget of about $179 aud, is it worth building a custom??
in australia maybe not tbh
cause iirc the price for switches and what not in australia is steep
k
can anyone guide me on what mechanical keyboard to buy? i wanted a quiet keyboard, similar sound to membrane like quiet quiet and have an rgb software which i can control. preferred if its TKl
@ancient idol what's your budget
Hi, what's a good budget keyboard in the 30-45 ish range
say 100 - 125 usd?
kemove shadow
so a gateron red?
id say kemove shadow if u dont really care about the size
keychron k2 also a good option
@ancient idol
https://www.keychron.com/products/gateron-switch-puller?variant=32326258688089 would this work on any hotswap?
how about silver switches
redragon k552 kumara
He wanted quiet, he should get silent linears.
A Leopold or Varmilo with silent reds or silent blacks.
forgot about leopold thx
Why is this like that also how do I make that button feel lighter
It’s sounds and feels scratchy
I don’t see a wire
How do I get there
Ye
K
So what’s wrong with my wire?
Is it like bent?
Maybe

You might need to clip the claws as well so
Ight
It would
But its too fancy
Which switch do you guys think is better.
Outemu gray silent tactile or Outemu Silent White
Need help deciding between these switches
And which of these would have similar experiences with the razer yelllow switches
My budget isn't much
So I don't think i can afford for those
Planning to spend around $25 only for switches
As in the silent version?
Akko rose reds 😫
Cuz I'm looking for silent switches so that there aren't any sounds
Membrane /j
kailh silent box switches, cherry silent red or black ... check the price for thoses maybe it will be ok for you
Those are way out of budget HAHA
Anything below $0.29 per switch would be fine
I don't think you will be able to get silent switches for that price ...
I saw the outemu silent switches so far
Outemu Silent White
Those are within budget so far
What do you think of those
no idea
never used them, never saw a review of them
the outemu switches I used was blue and completely noisy and not just cause of the click jacket
Alright thanks guys
Small chance I think it came lubed
if I were to get an artisan pad which one do I get? zero, hien, or hayate otsu?
I’ve seemed to some how make it more scratchy?
This time just through out the entire stab
@hasty saffron
I'm thinking of apex pro tkl
no
@chrome raft I like tkl
It's like 130$ rn
keychron
@chrome raft idc about typing I just care about pure gaming
Link?
Doesn't the apex pro have omnipoint
I don't have much keyboard noledge all I know is that I want fast clicks
English 💯
Some more thank others
@hasty saffron I just want something easy to press
Mechanical
Why does a bump Mater
Sure
Should I get these keycaps
if you like them probably ... the downside is that they are abs and with time will show sing of wear and become shiny on the keys you use the most ...
if it's something that doesn't bother you much then go for it ...
personally I would try to get some pbt keycaps ... either dye sublimated or double shot for the best feel and durability
i want some akko wt keycaps
they look poggers
along with e white tofu65
seems like it would be a good combo
Do you have a link to some?
drop artifact bloom?
whats a good barebones kit is. Im looking at the drop ctrl low profile
Budget?
whats the best switch for the drop ctrl thats not to high weight needed to click
There's quite a few lightweight switches so it's more about preference.
Those are way more expensive, like over half the price of my keyboard alone lol
There's the Falcon, ye.
If you can wait and stretch your budget a bit you can get a GMMK Pro for $170.
Buuuuuut we don't know when the actual launch is.
it do be like that for nice keycaps
I like the drop ctrl
I was looking at 15$ ones bc I just want a piece of plastic, not a high quality item😩
m8 its nowhere near quality tbh
its midrange
to some even on the low budget end
If it’s not quality then why pay 45$
its mid range in terms of quality
like better than your generic 2shot pbt shine through
but not gmk or signature plastic level]
Oh man
Just wait until you get into custom keycaps and, even further, artisans.
Expect to pay $45 for a single artisan key, depending on what it is.
Fully custom keycaps from, say, Signature Plastics, are on the upper echelon.
It's not about the quality
Gmk would be stupid cheap if each group buy had like 10k orders
An artisan is just a completely different topic tbh
Fair
I have a 3D printer, I might make myself a custom key cap
varmilo
and technically leopolds since they use hyperglide cherry which comes with a light layer of oil consistency lube
Noice I'll check em out
and razer prelube their switches?
thats like the last company to do that tbh
why would they care
According to a hardware Canucks vid
The huntsman mini is prelubed
i dont think so
its just the nature of contactless switch that doesnt have friction between the actuator mechanism and the stem
You could be right lol. That's just what I heard.
I'm digging the varmilo calculator lol
Hmm so I could just get hyperglide cherries and put em in a hotswappable
Damn. Varmilo looks nice tho so I'mma save that
I don't really trust pre-lube jobs since it takes hours to lube a 60%, so it's likely they'll rush and over-lube.
But hey, that's just my theory. You're free to take the risk.
I'm gonna be the cynic here and say it's probably just a checkbox to fill. I don't think they'd do a particularly good job.
yea
i have stated my theory
Yeah Im just too lazy. Plus this is my first mechanical keyboard so it'll be better than anything I've ever tried
So it's all g
If I ever feel like taking the next step I'mma hit up a taeha vid heh
Personally, I'd try an unlubed mech first, just so I can feel amazed at how much lubing makes a difference.
It made my brother's TTC reds feel so smoooooth.
I can hear it in ASMR vids on YouTube
It's such a noticeable difference.
I want that one big jump
Fair enough
Glorious pre-lubes their Glorious Pandas.
Well, you have the option of having them pre-lubed, anyway.
I have 140$ and I'm going to buy an apex pro tkl convince me not to
meh build quality, switch are more often than not too light for most user, caps are bottom tier
only thing thats unique is the oled screen and the volume roll
but the oled only display which profile youre on thats it, which is a waste of money
I'm going to replace the keycaps
id rather go for the varmilo va87m double rainbow
check out leopold and varmillo
Thanks for the tip.
Do they have linear switches, lubed?
nope
akko has some
Cool cool cool
Only now realizing that you could get lubed switches without the keyboard
So I was gonna go tactical but….I tried some reds and I like how they feel better. Blues aren’t my thing anymore. Any recommendations for linears?
akko cs matcha green
10 for 45 switch
Just buy lubed switches off people on r/mechmarket or something
Factory lube jobs are never sufficient
So that’s like $30 for the amount I need. Alright nice
How about Gateron yellows?
Or the other Akko switches
gateron yellow got dethroned by the akko cs linears
the other switches will depends on your preference
cause those are lighter and/or have shorter total travel distance
Akko switches are long pole though so there's still a reason to get gat yellows
Actually im unsure if I asked this question before. But is there a program out there that can configure a numbpad into a macropad? (google doesn't really have an answer for me.)
Those that support qmk and via?
Erm oof doesnt seem like it
Sweet16 is one?
alright im lost i gotta google that
Any good gaming keyboard for 2000 rs?
No i dont think theres any good keyboard for 20 dollars unless u wanna buy a membrane keyboard
There is a mechanical reddragon keyboard for about 30 to 40 dollars i think
whats a good mechanical keyboard for on a budget of about 30-40, blue switches are what i want. thanks if you can help
maybe with rgb
Yo boys, anyone recommend me a keyboard which has hotswappble switches and it has to be RGB
budget?
What are the price range usually for these kinds of keyboards?
well anywhere from 65 to infinite usd
cause you can turn a soldered pcb into a hotswap pcb
my logitech g910 is having some issues, when i press a key it either registers twice or doesnt register at all
as u can see theres 2 spaces between words instead of 1
how old is it?
hey @ionic briar I've been eyeing this for awhile now, whats your advice? https://www.tecware.co/spectre-pro
i probably would get brown or red switch
you can only swap in other outemu switches with that board
cause the outemu hotswap socket has tighter clamps that wont fit other cherry mx style switches from other manu without modification
Yes, my current spoilt mechancial keyboard is also outemu, im fine with those switches
other than that, do u have any other advice/recommendation
its sold in my country from $79-$99 (singapore dollars)
hey guys, do you have any opinion regarding red vs brown switches?
reds are the way to go
Buy a used ducky from carousell
It's always a matter of preference ... none is better than the other ... would you prefer linear or tactile switches, it's up to you to decide
alright, thanks man
I have a dedicated volume knob, it's called an amplifier ;)
he literally said nothing about the knob but ok

so, I have a set of switches+caps i'm in love with, anyone have any favorites/suggestions for buying just a hotswap board/case
I was kinda looking at the Glorious GMMK
the Drop Shift looks nice, but they don't do the barebones/highprofile very often
I have the gmmk and it's a nice barebone ... certainly not the best but it's decent enough and I have nothing to complain about with that board. It's now it in it's box cause I'm using the kemove snowfox (which is 60% and hotswap)...
There's also the gk61, gk68, some keychron can come hotswappable and I think royal kludge are also hotswappable ... There's probably a lot more options but I don't remember them on the top of my head
Hey, what would you guys say is a good Keyboard for Programming(Mainly typing) around 100,-EUR
Thanks Pls Tag Me 😉
leopold
they have some decent ones
with a numpad
@broken grove
i already pinged him/her once
Where the heck can i download the RGB software for my Cherry MX Board 3.0S.. they said "it would be getting a reprogramming, should be done in a week" yeah its been 8Months now! Thanks Cherry!. -_-
Like even if your old software.. even if its shit, let me use it atleast and make my simple effect...
Its current light mode isnt even bad..
I just want the key i pressed to glow white for a while while having a rainbow effect going..
I just need backlight.. its.. too dark else.. so ye..
why tho
My blind(?) Is defective.. it wont go up.. and i sit infront of the light ..
Bro, i spend 100€ i cant just "buy a new one"
And i actually like it very much
I could aswell just program the programm myself at that point ig...
Reverse engineering without anything to reverse engeneer
Remove keycaps
Unscrew board
Remove PCB
Desolder switches
Get new PCB
Resolver switches
Put PCB back in
Screw in board
Yeah ig.. but uhm.. i dont buy a kb to need to change it to get its full potential
Is your board compatible with VIA?
I have the same problem with mine :(
Keychron isn’t supported by via
I could replace the PCB but…then I might as well build a keyboard
Apparently they were supposed to release some sort of software but it never happened
Solder. Bought it right before the v2 hotswap released
Yeah
I don’t want to save the switches anyways. I don’t like them. Swapping them with something else
u dont lube like that
Why not?
You made
Zero difference lol
Nice meme tho

The two keys sound different tho
Please do! Lol
Dw I rinsed off the keycap after, also the sound test was between a switch with a stab, and one without lol
No only the first
I took out the stabs on the other one
I hate this keeb, I was so clueless when I bought it and overpayed for crap
I am tempted to get the 40$ keytron c1 tho👀
I mean hey at least you can experiment now.
imagine getting a cheap keeb
Put some super thin o-rings on it.
Like less than 1mm. Or even less.
Nah I am not gonna risk that
cast it into the fire!
If I wanted a keeb to experiment on I would get this 20$ hotswappable one lol
dang
get brown not blue
It-it’s my keeb I use for everything
It’s stabs suck 💩
I’m not gonna desolder just for new stabs on a crappy keeb
ooooof
typing with keyboard
hey everyone, im going to buy some keycaps for my keyboard. just wondering if thick cherry pbt keycaps are good?
hmm, let me check that
looks like i have south facing, phew!
i have north facing
you're north facing
Its prime day and I was wanting to go wireless for a while is this a good keyboard and good deal https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08FQTK1RW?category_name=wireless-keyboard
Amazon.com: Razer BlackWidow V3 Pro Mechanical Wireless Gaming Keyboard: Green Mechanical Switches - Tactile & Clicky - Chroma RGB Lighting - Doubleshot ABS Keycaps - Transparent Switch Housing - Bluetooth/2.4GHz: Computers & Accessories
I've been had
I don't care what anyone says
after a few days of using brown switches
i can say
brown >>>> red and blue
thats fine
i mean
do you feel the tactile bump?
yea but it doesn't bother me as much as I thought it would
it's like the perfect balance between teh both of them
I didn't want something that was too loud
have you tried any other tactile other than brown?
yea i said it already
what do you guys think lol
I'm not a big keyboards guy but out of red, brown, and blue switches what do you guys think is the best
Personally, it's not for me.
Feels like a scratchy linear. I like my tactiles to resist a little before they actuate.
But there isn't anything scientific about my opinion so it's entirely subjective.
depends on the brand of switch
like typical cherry found in gaming board would be a no go for all of em
hyperglides from leopolds or varmilo then maybe cherry mx red, just to see if they actually decent or not
otherwise at a low budget my heart stick to gateron yellow and akko cs switches
kinda want to try browns
just to feel for myself the tactility of that
yea i'm asking for ur preferences
polia has interesting tactile profile iirc
Introducing Phantom — an o-ring gasket mount 65% custom keyboard kit featuring an ultra-soft gasket for a comfortable typing experience starting at $179. Its seamless and screwless unibody aluminum enclosure paired with a centered USB-C port delivers a simple and modern aesthetic that will fit into any desk setup.
30 cents a switch bruhhhhh
anyway this interesting thing about to drop
wait you have to look at mouser pricing for cherry mx
its ridiculous
They really tryna price Cherry Reds like Zealios lmao
wait what
heres a taste test
wtf
previously i saw black selling for 2usd per iirc
Also RIP Canadians
I have to drop over half that price for just shipping alone.
Yeah no I'm not getting them. :(
holy
but why?
idk man
mouser pricing
bruh
Ay jessie if u see this I got the keyboard
reddragon red switches
they feel and sound good as hell
feel a bit membrany but still better than cherry mx blues
I didnt ping u in case u dont like it
akko switches are good?
might have to cop me a akko wt if they are decent
so those polia switches would be about 70$ once arrived here and accounting for exchange rates ... and that if there's not some duty fees on top of that ... I guess I'll pass
Does anybody have any Kailh Thicc Clicks Navy they'd be willing to sell?
honestly dawg, I can't find them in stock, any leads?
@ionic briar novelkeys is sold out
kay one sec
I should clarify the Kailh box thicc clicks, there are Kailh speed thicc clicks in navy but I gotta have that Long travel
NovelKeys x Kailh BOX Thick Clicks BOX Navy features the same spring as the BOX Pale Blue, but with a thicker clickbar. BOX Jade features the same spring as the BOX White, but with a thicker clickbar. Sold in packs of 10 The Thick Clicks features a thicker clickbar. This increases the tactile feedback tremendously and
You rock
is that their akko prebuilt switches
https://mechanicalkeyboards.com/shop/index.php?l=product_detail&p=6913
this too but its overprice af
akko cs
not the old akko v2
yeaw
i mean you can do the jailhouse mod to your blues if you want
@pallid trout hows the fitment of durock stabs with your gmmk pro?
Haven't tried it yet. Wanna go stock for the first month before modding.
so gmmk stabs is currently on the plate?
This question might not have an actual answer but does anyone know if zealios v2 or Glorious Pandas are better Overall
I have a tendency to bottom out the switch and I like higher force if that helps
What specs would be good for the loudest clicky keyb possible?
no lubing obv, low profile case, not sure what switches would be good tho
it just needs to be obnoxiously loud
it needs to scream GAMER!
kailh box navy, gmmk barebone, random pudding keycaps
done
Yes
Kinda rattly, spacebar feels like mush out of the box but for some reason the rest of the stabs feel fine.
LoL, you're on to me, that's pretty much what I'm building, except I'm gonna throw on a set of kanagami key caps so it can only be used by touch typers
just so i have it, whats some good lube to buy? krytox?
Depends on the switches you have.
Which Akko CS?
So Krytox 205g0
seems to be the go to. alright ill pick up some of that
205g0 if you want creamy smooth
105 for slicky smooth
205g0 is not a beginner lube btw
not many people seem to remember that nowadays
