Often the "fake" cherry are better than cherry
if you're going for cheap keyboards with mechanical feel
HP – Mechanical gaming keyboard GK100F { english keyboard only // 26-key conflict-free function // RGB Light } [ GK100F200901757 ] Features: •Highly durable, double-shot injection molding keycaps. •Enjoy typing all day: With a thick keyboard with responsive keys. •Built to last: Gaming buttons rated at up to 50 million-clicks. •Color uniform, ov...
this seems good
i think these are cherry blue knockoffs
but im not 100% on it
it has outemu switches
they are mechanical
I would take a good membrane btc board or tore way before something with outemu blue
One day I will get a topre
They have really loud spring ping and that's quite annoying
depends on which ones u get
I told you ... outemu blue
HP makes gaming keyboards!? I just had to make a video on this! This keyboard comes in either RGB or white back lighting, and a choice or Blue, Brown or Black switches. Best part? I bought it for $27!
this is the review for the keyboard above
thanks
So my friends keyboard’s S key doesn’t work on his computer, so I took a look at it and cleaned it and it works on my computer perfectly fine. I go back to his house and it turns out no matter what keyboard he has plugged in the S key just doesn’t respond. Any thoughts??
What kind of keyboard is it?
Lol a GK61😂 but it works fine on my computer and a work computer the weird part is every keyboard does it on his pc
Bruh
what are the reason for you to buy it?
cause it has fast switch that are good for gaming?
I'm getting it for gaming
are you fine with waiting till 16th of june for a product to ship?
The reaction time is hella impressive if their marketing claims are true
But considering a single frame in 120 FPS is around 8 ms, kinda wondering if it really does make a difference.
it doesn't
yea
its too minusclue to make a difference
none of this response time stuff matters unless you play video games professionally
If I wanted a speedy switch I'd actually go butterfly lmao.
But those feel like crap to me.
yea thats why whenever anyone asks what is the fastest switch i'll say the butterfly
because it technically is
even if thats the case
there are too many hoops that the signal has to go through that can easily add more latency
yes
for a professional gamer its more of just wanting the best possible gear
even if the difference is basically negligible
then its the placebo effect cause by the light spring and low actuation point rather than the actual gains tbh
Yeah I don't think so too.
anyway

@ionic briar idk I can get a apex pro for 140$ and they just came out with these sick pudding keycaps
okay
well apex pro for you then
hopefully you have light typing force
for me personally, pudding keycaps are not sick
they are so common
Does anyone know of any good keyboards for the $40-60CAD range?
what size
what is your preferred switch type
tkl and brown switch
blue switch is also ok
brown and blue have different sounds when actuated
so if you work or play in an environment with other people, they are going to find your blue switch clicks annoying quickly
if you're alone and like the loud noise, there is no issue
I mean
When we're dealing with newbies they're almost definitely talking about the MX varietals.
Like no one new to the hobby is gonna know what a Holy Panda is
?? For cherry switches and copycats they usuallyt follow the same colour standard
red = linear, no tactile
brown = non linear, tactile
black, blue, green yellow etc
sorry im very new to keyboads, i meant a tactile switch
nope
gateron clear for example is a linear
whereas the cherry color equivalent is a heavy tactile
theres no cherry mx yellow in the cherry product stack
preferably heavier
guys for banana splits on the gmmk pro
would you say aluminium, polycarbonate or brass?
looking for the least noise possible i guess
then poly?
I would say dont go for brass, since it is sonorous
i am looking for a good keyboard
and my budget is 10.89$
anyone have any suggestions?
10 usd?
yeah
ik its not much
but yeah
my current keyboards spacebar is like
broken?
ig
yea not much
if not none
the stabelizer is brake
yeh
You can just Google best keyboard under 10 dollars
You will find a lot of suggestions.
yeah but
most of them are
like i dont know how good they are
like reviews would be really helpfull
For $10 you can fix your keyboard
its a wireless microsoft keyboard
i would rather but a new one
which is prolly gonna be better
Try finding them on Amazon or Newegg and read the reviews xD
Or you can always go with the people's choice on by sorting your list as best selling ones.
And if you don't like your keyboard, you can always return it.
Your welcome xD
Be sure to check the return policies tho. Not every seller on Amazon accepts returns xD
thanku so much ill try

you think its even mechanical?
meh
it's technically mechanical but BLUES oh my god
it's not just about whether it's "mechanical" or not, it's about the switches, the typing experience, etc
yeah ive never actually used a mechanical keyboard for like more than 2 minutes
so ig this would be a new experience
so its mechanical confirmed right?
so its not like i would dislike it or anything
technically, but mechanical keyboards aren't all equal
ik it may be weird for others who have used better keyboards
i regret getting Corsair boards because compared to other boards, it's not great
but i probably wont even care
ok
I'm doing a kind-of-custom build soon
so my advice is read reviews, get smth like womier 60%
@junior lodge hey
HK Gaming GK61 Mechanical Gaming Keyboard - 61 Keys: Amazon.in: Electronics

Or
You could get glorious keycaps for like, $50
They're probably fine
Unless you hate all the color options, I guess
If you need a custom layout and colourway Maxkeyboards can help you out.

lets see how long it takes to deliver
Nice! I'm going to order the one which has yellow switches
yellow ? u dont like clicky or tactile ?
is this that good ? it is costlier than my G502 hero !
nah nvm
G502 FTW
Those two different mouse you can't really compare them
For me it would be glorious all the way
u like light mouses ?
is it mouses or mice
I have been told my many people that yellow ones are pretty solid so I'm giving it a try.
thoughts on this parts list?
- keychron c1 hotswap board
- plate-mount stabs (clipped/holee mod/bandaid mod/lubed w. 205g0)
- durock t1 switches (deskeys 0.15mm films/lubed w. 3203 [switch] & 107 oil [spring])
- akko black & pink keycaps
is the steelseries apex 3 a good keyboard
Dk exactly
I see
im gonna start programming and video editing and I need a full size mechinical keyboard my budget is $200 CAD any recommendations?
Do you want a full size for the footprint of a tkl?
i dont want a tkl I need the numpad for some features in adobe premiere
Yea
I suggest the leopold fc980m
Or the 980c if its under your budget
Their unavailable lol
Hm
Varmilo va108m?
lemme see
my pc doesn't have a usb-c port
Its usb c to usb a m8
oh oki I'll tink about it
Heya I'm about to get a Samsung Tab S6 lite for school and Im looking for a small wirless keyboard. Which is quiet so I don't disturb my teacher or class mates whilst typing. Do you have any recommendations?
If you don't care about the noise then go with the Logitech K480, but if you do then use the Logitech K380
And also what is the best programming
Those 2 are hella loud I need a really quiet one
I mean your best option is probably a cheap chiclet keyboard then.
Like one of those generic Bluetooth membranes.
May as well since you're going to carry it around.
Unless you really need a nice keyboard.
I will keep looking
I think the key-to-go from logitech looks good for what I need but I can only find the IOS version which I can't use
It is compatible with both android and iOS
Are you sure? The Product page of Logitech mentions only IOS devices
for the K380 go to:- https://www.logitech.com/en-in/products/keyboards/k380-multi-device.920-007597.html
for the K480 go to:- https://www.logitech.com/en-in/products/keyboards/k480-multi-device-wireless.920-006380.html
This isn't the keys-to-go keyboard. I told you that those 2 are too noisy
then try this one , https://www.logitech.com/en-in/products/keyboards/k400-plus-touchpad-keyboard.920-007165.html
or if you consider noise and portability go with this:- https://www.amazon.com/Fintie-Keyboard-Detachable-Wireless-Bluetooth/dp/B08883JK8Y/ref=sr_1_3?crid=GP016F1J78X0&dchild=1&keywords=samsung+tab+s6+lite+keyboard&qid=1623348875&sprefix=Samsung+Tab+S6+%2Caps%2C527&sr=8-3
Buy Fintie Keyboard Case for Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite 10.4'' 2020 Model SM-P610 (Wi-Fi) SM-P615 (LTE), Slim Stand Cover with Secure S Pen Holder Detachable Wireless Bluetooth Keyboard, Black: Keyboard Cases - Amazon.com ✓ FREE DELIVERY possible on eligible purchases
They are all too noisy
I need one with not actually keys
Amazon.com: Logitech Wireless Keyboard | Keys-To-Go: Ultra Portable Bluetooth Keyboard for iPad, iPhone, Apple TV, Desktop and More (Black): Computers & Accessories
like this one
then go with the one you suggested.
that is the best
if you want no noise and a physical keyboard, if you consider noise alot then just use the inbuilt keyboard
well as I mentioned above it is IOS only and I don't know if it is usable with android
there is no inbuilt keyboard. I don't know what you are talking about

Chiclets are already quiet.
Well imagine being in a class of 20+ people and being the only person using a keyboard
It needs to be that quiet that it sounds like nobody is using one
Then any and every keyboard barring a touchscreen will be noticeable.
Even a butterfly keyboard.
Can't really think of an alternative that doesn't involve a touchscreen or altering typing style.
as I said the keys-to-go is quiet enough I think
But Im not able to find an android version
or just learn to not mash the keys
It should, it’s a Bluetooth keyboard
I used one on my MacBook

I guess you could go the lubed MX Zilent switch route, which has a deep, soft click, even without o-rings, which would make them even quieter.
But those are Frankenswitches and are thus expensive on their own, to the tune of around $1.65 a switch. I don't know how much you're willing to spend but at least they're exceedingly quiet for a mechanical switch:

Terrible phone recording of switch noise comparing MX Silent and MX Zilent (MX Silent stem / Aliaz housing).
Phone microphone is close to the keyboard while filming so it sounds a lot louder than in real life, but you can tell how much quieter the MX Zilent is.
Probably a last-resort Hail Mary though lol
Oh this too lol
i can't tell if you're joking
Well I’m joking but…I mean…it’s what they wanted
😩
I mean
I would of this person didn't want to be noticed being the only person typing away.
Well it isn't what I want
It is what my teacher wants
It isn't like I have much of a choice
Then I don't know what else to suggest them.
why are you the only one typing in the first place
Well anyways thanks for the help everyone
Because Im not in a digital class
I would be one of 2 people using a tablet
the other peson is only using the pen tho
Im not like in a Uni or something. I just want to have my stuff digitally because Im bad with keeping my paperwork in school organized
I hate using touchscreen keyboards
also they don't work really when you have long nails
Well that one is quite silent ... not sure if it will be enough for you tho

Eyyyyy
Is the logitech g613 worth it
for a prebuilt it's ok but the switches aren't great
you dont like the va108m?
out of stock
This keyboard features a Koi design in collaboration between Varmilo & Hua Culture Girls
oh I checked only amazon
Varmilo VA108MN2W/LLK12W CMYK - 108 MX Brown,: Amazon.ca: Computers & Tablets
is the steelseries apex 3 a good keyboard?
nah
fancified rubber dome
Yo does anyone here have purple keycaps
just wanted to ask how are the Cherry MX Brown?
they have a very, very light tactility
most ppl who have been subjected to stronger tactile switches commented that mx brown feels like "even scratchier mx red" rather than a tactile
specifically the logitech G512 Mechanical
so if i want that clicky feeling what should i go for
hmmm
whats your budget for the keyboard, what is your preferred layout?
and you said that you want the tactility of clicky, specifically mx blue?
so full size with numpad
and you want the same feel as mx blue but without the click sound?
no i would like the sound
oh
you want the same level of loudness or you want something louder
and do you prefer backlightning? if so, does it have to be rgb?
i want the same level of loudness and i would prefer RGB

my budget is around 250$ for a keyboard need some suggestions on which to buy the budget can increase 50-100$ depending on the keyboard i really like the logitech g915 tkl and i am also looking for a tkl
The Gemini Dusk mechanical keyboard pairs warp speed input with super bright per-key RGB LEDs and programmability — this is the ultimate gaming device. Its machined all-metal case, custom PBT doubleshot keycaps, and hot-swappable switches set it light years ahead of lesser offerings. Those aren’t the Gemini Dusk’s only
i want a keyboard from a more mainstream or a well known brand like logitetch, razer or corsair
sounds like you already made a decision and just want positive feedback
why would you?
they are selling the same or less feature rich board for more
i guess i should sent you this first
this is one of the solid custom mech vendors and gb in the state
no i want a keyboard from these companies thats all
Other than them being chronically late half the time. Maybe keystone will ship in the next few years >.<
yea
i mean you can be the lab rat and buy the new blackwidow v3 for us
I mean if you are only considering those 3 companies, scratch corsair and razer off the list before even bothering to look further. Both still have terrible build quality across their lines
@rigid falcon
ok
yea?
@rigid falcon
Honestly I remain amused that out of all the mech boards I've collected over the years, the one still sitting on my desk is still a filco majestouch circa 2005
i was about to rec leopold boards
but then i realized is that to the average gamer, they dont even know about the damn brand
Yea, hard to go wrong with a leopold or filco
Probably done with input club/kono though. Been burned with terrible delays way too many times
you have any experience with mechanicalkeyboards?
mechanicalkeyboards.com? I've ordered switches from them but thats about it
yea
Theyre usually one of my secondary choices if novelkeys is out of stock on something
ic
hows the shipping experience?
about the same as most major retailers, 3-5 buisness days on ground
nothing great or bad to say about them really
switch pricing is always all over the place for some vendors >.<
Maybe at some point my GMMK pro will ship.
.<
Leopold is too high end for general gamer maybe ...
shrug I mean a pretty decent sized chunk of their catalog is in the same price range
Yes I know that was a joke ...
I would gladly buy a Leopold way before any of the major known gaming brand
Anyway the next keyboard I want to buy is 65% ... I guess ... and hot swap for sure
I was thinking about the gk68 (I think it's that one)
is there smth better than the RK61 at that price range?
waht is a good switch for a guy that likes gat reds but wants to build a baller custom
Box reds if you like them light and linear
not too light
what about banana spllits
also what switches do you think a weirdo that uses a dell keyboard would like
wanna build my mom a keeb for her bday
Dell have a lot of different keyboards ... I suppose it's a rubber dome over membrane ... that would mean silent with a small tactility on top and mushy ... maybe something with silent brown ... or cherry brown with o-rings :/ I don't know really ...
are there any alternatives to the DROP + REDSUNS GMK RED SAMURAI KEYCAP SET?
what?
also is corsairs tiny bar that goes in front of keebs any good
For $20 it’s probably fine
Streamdeck but single row with 6 buttons iirc
theres plenty on aliexpress, for anywhere from 5- 20 dollars
I'm in the middle of building my first PC so I had to go out and choose a keyboard.
I settled on the g915 because it looked sleek and was reviewed to be as fast or faster than a wired keyboard. But tbh I kinda hate it
I'm used to those "crappy" laptop keyboards with minuscule travel distance and virtually none existent tactility. I thought since it was so low profile the switch would be easy but is anything but. Also despite me choosing Tactile over Clicky mechanical is still extremely loud!
Does the switch from standard laptop keyboard get easier with time or should I return it before my return rights are voided (I have 25 days left before having to return it)
sorry for the crappy lighting
yea return it if you want dead silent mech boards
https://youtu.be/yWQdeph9zc8?t=12
something that kinda like this, not exactly like this

and i dont think theres a break in period with scissor switch
the common type found in laptops
he wants to know if the transition from a laptop keyboard will get easier
and no if you cant get used to it within a few hours then you wont imo
both kinda
only used it for a few min
its already getting better
but the sound is still a bit loud
yea
cause its plastic to plastic contact
whereas with scissor switch boards, it got dampened by the rubber dome beneath the scissor actuation mechanism
@minor quest
ty, I'll look into it
will still use it for a week or two since its got a long return period
Is just me or your peripherals cost more than your laptop?
nope
no
welcome to the keyboard hobby
where an ergo board can cost thousands usd in the aftermarket
laptop was 6000 keyboard was like 1300
Don't worry, ikr
and I even got a free headset stand with it. (see pic above)
i need one of those
which is better the rk61 or the redragon k530
aight thx
Anyone have a good lead for a full set of metal key caps?
anyone have hyperx alloy elite 2?
What?
Like chrome style key caps?
So they look like metal?
I’ll dm u some links later today or tomorrow
are these good aswell
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0915SJD22/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?smid=A2E0HBWQ5UE4ZT&psc=1
dont wanna get trash keycaps
I mean its either these or the gpbt keycaps from glorious
I want a more thockier sound
something that would compliment banana split switches
Amazon.com: Metropolis Five-Sided Sublimation PBT Keycaps for Mechanical Gaming Keyboards, Upgrade 129key Keycap Cherry Profile 87/104 98068 Customized Filco Keycap (Metropolis Keycaps): Computers & Accessories
Those are dye sub pbt keycaps so yes it looks good ... those won't let light pass through tho so I don't know if it's important for you or not ...
i mostly care abt the sound
Well it's pbt keycaps cherry profile ... what keycaps do you have right now ?

it here bois
finally
Also not pictured are Durock V2 stabs because I forgot to bring them down
fucking finally
yo any budget keycap sets under 100 preffereably black and white
whats your current keyboard?
one little sec
NICE
shit its cherry profile
thanks
might be interfere with north facing switch tho
one sec sending smt thats interfere proof
https://pimpmykeyboard.com/sa-ice-cap-keyset-sublimated/
this with the english alpha and 60% modifiers
@wet cave
yea
but the problem is cherry profile row 2 might interfere with the switch
which will make the key feels odd
how to stop my stabs being mushy
what are your stab?
gateron plate mount?
have you dont any mods to the stabs?
ee i dont ike this
nah
spooky
if i kill this keeb i cant get a new one
You can get stabs tho
but parents
yea
but your board is hotswappable
which means that you can pull out the switch out no problem
it wont brake anything
unless you do it while yeeting it into the wall
im just gonna put on a clear on my space bar and ill be fine
better feeling
we good now
what is a clear?
eh
wont resolve the mushy issue
just saying
i think the satbs were just putting drag
it dosent mush
just drags a but
*bit
so its hard to press
does it mush when you are at the end of the travel distance?
then that sounds like either the wire is heavily bent or the stab stem needs some lube
gateron yellow
the whole akko cs switch lineup is pretty competitive in the budget range
ehhh its nice
v2 has some qc issues so do check each of the switch to spot out scuffed ones
matcha green looks nice
banana splits any good?
meh
i think its tight enough that you dont need films
but tbh, the base of that, durock linears would be more value imo
pinks
how do they sound
eh it depends on the board
what mods do they need
prob lube
with the winglatch design, the housing is pretty tight as it is stock
i think ill lube and film just kuz
nah
films will not fit cause of the winglatch design
yea
https://youtu.be/CttQCPBuffw?t=443
dont take this as a reference
If you want to support me, please use this link if you purchase, helps me out so much!! (https://en.akkogear.com?ref=898)
Akko CS Rose Red - 43g linear
Akko CS Ocean Blue - 55g tactile
Akko CS Matcha Green - 50g linear
Manufactured by KTT and developed with akko!
Hope you enjoyed that video. This is the first switch review on my channel, alth...
I have that but the snowfox. they're good keyboards and I would recommend them to anybody looking to get into keyboards on a budget
pinks in general i found are quite clacky on my board
however even for my kiddy fingers they are really light and have a short travel distance
if you want that though go ahead, but if you want a more standard feel i reccomend the matcha greens or gateron yellows
i do kind of wish i had gone with the matchas imo
Eh doesnt matter
You can carry a model m to school if your mates can endure it
lmao theres over 100 i believe
smoother than mx reds?
its not hard to simply google and check which switches are the smoothest.
it gives me what are the beat gaming switches
there is no such thing as a gaming switch
for speed
the dark green tangerines look really nice
Hey so my keyboard broke recently and I’m looking for a new one. Could anybody recommend me a fairly cheap durable keyboard? I’m really focused on durability though
Gimme a sec
tkl?
I previously used tkl so I guess yeah

Going by that logic, chiclets would be the best gaming switch
But do you see pros running out to buy them?
No.
It's entirely preference
No like homework and essays
its just that the mx speeds were made with gaming in mind
No they were made to fool gamers into wasting money.
I have mech keyboard
but they work exactly as advertised
actuating a switch 0.01 ms earlier doesnt make you a better gamer.
any tips for a good keyboard with a 96keys layoyt?
hey does anyone know where I can buy just two white split spacebar keycaps
2.25u and 2.75u and preferably dsa profile
In reality actuation speed is very, very negligible.
Like, "less than a frame at 120 FPS" negligible.
Anything can be branded "gaming" nowadays. We already have "gaming" SD cards.
In reality, "gaming" switches (AKA any switch with a small actuation distance) are really just preference.
Gaming peripherals is just easy money grab and marketing most of the time
more or less, but i don't think anyone would game with blue or green
Greens do exist.
i thought it was just heavier blue, no?
Cherry has some.
yea
yea i have a green spacebar
Razer has their own Green but they don't give a fuck lol.
They're so rarely used/sold
100% preference as to whether someone likes clicky, tactile, or linear however
If I can game on a membrane, and if plenty of other people will too, anyone can game on a blue or a green.
i can't imagine gaming on my blues though, it'd be annoying
But that's besides the point.
I gamed plenty on clickies
wow really?
It's about preference, not really how it performs in game.
It helps that I have closed-back headphones ig
You get used to the tactility
Issue now is that I despise the sound of my old Cherry Blues after using linears
ic
but yea, it does exist and other "clones" did make copycats
gateron green availability is much better than cherry green
box pinks yes!!
One of my favourite clickies
Unless you're using a super, super heavy switch, or a switch that's waaaaaay outside your preference, switches are one of the last things that will affect your gaming performance.
It depends on the game
And whether you can get used to differing actuation points easily
ye
yea
tbh, all those marketed gaming switch take advantage of the placebo effect
using light spring and shallow actuation point and whatnot
tho
cherry has good batches
problem is, you have to work for it
cherry picked em
I liked my kailh speed copper ... but then noticed the spring ping and from that point it was a no go
yea
like the best cherry on prebuilts are leopolds
and that is still off branded to the avg gamer
I've only heard good thing about Leopold ... personally I wouldn't get one unless they have it with silent black maybe
lubed gat reds are fantastic ngl
speaking of, i may as well ask just in case - does anyone know of any prebuilts that support split backspace? (i.e. support the ability to have 15 keys in the number row)
ehhh i guess gk61x/xs?
the one that comes with mechanical switches
Well if it's pre built,, it'd have to come in a "Unix layout" variation like hhkb...hhkb is just too expensive
oh
do you know how to solder?
you dont have to tbh
hakko 936 used is a great starter imo
Oh I meant the keyboard
I'm looking at like $400 for the parts on adiy
Biggest chunk is case, finding tkl cases is hard
oh
you want tkl hhkb?
cause traditionally hhkb layout boards are in the 60% form factor
@sour peak
I want this in tkl
so 7u space ?
So like that. Actually I'm ok with 6.25u space and all 1.25 keys in space row
you want the backspace in the place of the tilde ?
Currently I have this, but I miss arrow and F keys..so this + F and arrows
Yeah that's the main but, no long key in number row,
Yes but the pcb needs to support 15 keys in the number row. Not many do
Like if I buy a drop ctrl keyboard and desolder the backspace, I don't know that I'll be able to solder 2 switches in its place can I?
iirc ctrl is hotswap?
and most hotswap has a fixed layout tho
Oh...yes
I was wondering if I could buy it but mod it
Can I just change the programming to have 15 keys and it'd be ok? I assumed it was a physical limitation on the pcb
yea
solder pcb might allow this cause you dont need a full solder pad to be able to solder the switches in
Ooh interesting
I'm still debating if I should do tkl, or buy a nice case for the 60% I have. Tkls don't have a lot of nice case choice
yea
you missed out on some tkl gbs recently
like scarlet tkl
although glitch and frost are still live
buutt the pcb doesnt support 15 key number row
I'm just too tempted by this case
wait
you have a unix60?
oh
Handcrafted walnut case though
today we play-"guess the price!"
My guess is $349.99
The case? Oddly no, $120. $349 would be the whole thing including the kb
I was guessing for the whole kb. And wait was it actually 350

what?
the kb
lol i just made a wild guess aparently it was rite
i shd go to the price is right
also 350 for a kb is so much money
It's really not, relative to the customs keyboard scene.
That's like mid-tier.
Cyberboard costs more than that for the case alone.
It's a lot compared to pre-builts though.
more or less, maybe a little less for the one i got. Most of the cost is: case, and keycaps. I got really cheap keys so i think about $150 before the case (which is $120) for me, a good set of keys would have been more, so around $350 with a good set of keys (i.e. ones that aren't crappy plastic and actually etched writing that won't fade)
i could easily pay $50-$100 for a full set of keycaps and about $100-$150 for a nice case
also yea, something that was odd to me at first: DIY costs MUCH MORE than pre-built due to the economies of scale.
that 65 percent is CLEAN sheesh
clean?
looks good
oh yea yea, they make one for a few differnet keyboards and a generic 60% one, it's about $120 or so but DAMN it looks SO GOOD
i still can't decide if i want to upgrade to TKL, it's very pricy commitment, and i've actually starting to enjoy using Fn+WASD as keys
i dont use tkl so i cant vouch for it but i use 65 on my main board cause its more compact and enjoy it a lot
oh nice, yea i see you have most of the keys there

Also if anyone responds please ping or I probably won’t see it.
Hi, can i ask if exist or how i can do this with mechanical keyboard - Arrow Up/Down, in one slot with two caps
how good is the tecware phantom 87?
whaa....i don't think u can. press is a press im not sure there's a way to distinguish pressing from above or below
what MAY BE possible though, is some other way to get around it. A fully prgramable keyboard has some pretty crazy things like: regular keystroke=up, double tap=down. press and hold=up, just tap=down. etc(or just like, a down key but it's an up key with Fn)
lmao i love the name
it aint bad
pretty decent tbh
for the price
starting my YMDK 64 build next week :D does anyone have any advice for a first time build?
take it slow
what do you mean by "slow" is there any specific step I should take extra care in?
youre doing a hot swap or soldered build?
hot swap
oh
then dont apply too much force on the switch when you plug in the socket
to avoid lifting the solder pads underneath
also
wire balanced, clip and lube your stabs
I'm definitely planning on lubing my stabs but what is wire balancing and clipping?
this is clipping
left is before right is after
only do this if your stab has that exact 2 legs with a claw

But it's a good visual representation otherwise lol
which keyboard should i get the keychron k6 (brown switches) or womier k66 (yellow switches)
k66 imo
can u give me reasons y its better
idk ive just heard bad things about brown switches

i guess you cant go wrong either way

does anyone know how much an artisan mousepad costs? i tried going to their website but it says they're out of stock
south facing switch meaning it wont going to interfere with cherry profile caps
what material are the top and bottom housing on gateron cap yellows?
Are gateron brown switches good?
They’re ok
what about gateron black inks?
great linears, if slightly pricy
Thanks
Thoughts on those prince switches ?
Gateron black or kailh black ?
@unkempt dome Gateron Black Ink
I wanted to try another linear switch before I brand myself as not a linear switch person ... and i thought that since gateron yellow are too light for my taste, maybe some black switches would be more suited for my taste ...
Is there something like just gateron black and gateron black ink or they are the same thing?
Gateron Black Inks are a little more expensive and IMO sound better
They sound more consistent in my experience
Ok ... I'll try to look for them
Anybody know a good keyboard and mouse for $50?
u mind linking it pls?

none
Yeah
i found it, its 60 on lethal gaming
ik a keyboard a mouse which you can both get for 60$
the red dragon k552
is the keyboard
and the razer viper mini
Alr bet thanks
the k552 is a really entry level keyboard ... sturdy enough ... noisy and amplify the switch spring ping
but for the price it's still better than a lot of other in the same price bracket
Well what are you looking for ?
That combo sounds really good
The razer viper mini is a superb mouse
It’s the best budget mouse by far
The keyboard is
but you have very little money to work with
it should be a good deal
yo
im selling my apex proi
tkl
i was dumb for bying
i need new good keybaord
size tkl
not tactaile swithhces
Grab a Leopold or Filco if you just want something that works and will continue to work basically forever
i want something nice
Definition of nice is going to vary significantly individual to individual. Going to need to be a bit more specific
good looking
and good sounding
mabye a black keybaord
good sounding swithes would be nice
GMMK Pro if you don't mind the wait and are okay with 90% of a TKL
what keeb i did that
@tight moon
Ive got a model f xt
i dont have a hotswap kb
nice
Are cherry mx reds good or bad?
Just asking
Btw thanks for the recommendation
I bought the keyboard
It's really really nice
the gk61
.
brown
;-;
Probably shouldve gotten something but
its fine
I really love the brown switches even though theyre probably meh or even bad in the enthusiast world
Opti or mech
optical
Gat reds and yellows are top teir
Same
But I cant afford this stuff yet
I want to try the gateron yellows, reds, and black inks
There are red and yellow inks too
oh
I should mod my keyboard but i'm kind of lazy
Same
also it would cost a lot of money
And I cant afford to break anything
getting new stabilizers, buying grease, buying new keycaps, buying foam or something to put inside the keyboard, buying the lube
Neither are stabs if u really need them
U dont need all that
Nice pfp
Can I have a link
Sure man
On any anime site
Just need to find it again
I need a new one to watch
Yeah i thought that too ... but then I tried kailh box white and kailh box navy ... appears that i like clicky when it's actually good clicky
gat greens sound decent
meh
have you listed to at least kailh box clickbars?
no not yet
yea take a listen
Yeah, box jades have an insane click and are super tactile
ayo what switches are the most silent?
silent reds?f
are you sure they are they quietest
those are super expensive though
but they do seem to be considered the quietest switch
i did know google is a thing bucko, i search it up and it only says browns
Wow that's plain stupid answer from Google
There's also MX Zilents.
And lube and even o-rings if you really need to quiet them further
dont o rings make the bottom out a lot squishier and less satisfying]
thats true. guess you gotta sacrifice if you're looking for the quietest possible board
would def reccomend lube though. Generally lowers the pitch of the switch and quiets it in additiona to making a smoother press
Hey my friend is looking for a new keyboard, his budget is 130-140 euros
He wants tkl
and really wants the NK creams but he is unsure what to do since it would be really expensive to ship them to Finland
Any recommendations?
Im not sure there are any boards that come with nk creams stock. Might have to get a hot swap board and buy the switches separately
The ducky one 2 tkl comes in many different styles and switch types

id choose leopold prebuilts over ducky
he wans a pre built board with nk creams?
He simply likes the creams idk
cause the tfue board?
No he has tried them before and he wants them
huh
does the creams he tried already burned in?
cause you will have to do it first due to the binding creams are well known of
and tbh
the price arent that great
if he wants a full pom switch
theres durock pom for him
sounds like he just wants creams
Hey all! I don't interact a whole lot here except for Floatplane stuff, so you probably haven't seen me around much, but I thought since there's a keyboards channel I would share a couple of photos of a keyboard that I added to my small collection about two years ago. Still my favorite theme.
Very clean build!! Is that a wood case?
Thank you! Yes, the outer chassis is wood. Inner and plate are an alloy.
Love it! I'm a fan of darker woods and the whole thing looks super clean. What switches did you use?
Kemove shadow
Alright man.
I need those specs. Everything about this is beautiful.
Chinese knockoff
e
Thank you so much!
Chassis/PCB: gk64 / wood kit
Switches: Cherry MX Reds (lubed with Krytox 205g0) -- though I used to have MX Clears in it.
Keycaps: SA Calm Depths
Artisan: A seller on Etsy that I can't remember. I can look it up though if interested.
Cable: I honestly do not recall who made this either. It was some guy on Reddit. I could look this up as well.
Thank you! I do wish the wood were darker, as I also prefer darker woods. I may eventually refinish it but I dunno. Still happy with it now!
Yes, sorry! Stock plate.
No worries.
I do wish the stock plate weren't so wimpy. I wish the build had more heft to it.
Thats probably my only complaint.
Maybe there's a brass plate somewhere.
That would be awesome if there was one out there.
It doesn't really suffer from deck flex due to the wood, but its just so dang light, so anything to make it a bit heftier would be cool.
put a slab of brass in it.
Absolutely haha
Is 600$ a decent budget for a thock and deep sound on a custom keyboard lubed and foamed and a good sounding spacebar
ooh what
Hey. So I recently noticed that my keyboard flashes red when I turn on my pc but then it’s normal afterwards. I’m guessing this isn’t normal?
might be a problem, u would want to see the manufacturers website
Damn really? I got this keyboard like a month ago
@cunning plume
I have their steelseries mouse and I like their software. I've been enjoying the keyboard a lot since I got it. I just contacted Steelseries with the video clip.
it feels smooth as it was on day 1.
Not on that one, as I didn't make the cable and have no desire to added the connector myself. I do have several custom cables that include the aviator connector, however, and love those.
how much for the whole build?
IIRC around $270 USD if you include everything from the primary components down to the lube, cable, and artisan cap.
whats an artisan?
That's the high-tier of budgets now so you'll be able to grab all but the Cyberboard, maybe a Bauer, and definitely a Keycult.
Don't really need to spend that much but hey, I can't force you to spend your money.
do whole keyboard with them
go broke
no way man, $600 is i'd say middle for DIY (well i guess that depends on how much of a keyboard, for TKL or more, def. mid teir)
ok so that's more or less what i paid for my 60% somehow going from 60-65% to TKL the price jumps to like $500 for something equivalent
i mean the stacked acrylic gang is now bridging that price gap i feel like
look at glitch and frost from protoza
if you make the artisan keycaps ur self it shd be pre cheap
yea
but resin is really bad for you lungs
assuming ur time is worth nothing
its a liqid how can it be bad for ur lungs
yea maybe
but then it take ages to get to the level of artisan selling atm
will you invest your time, money and potentially your health in doing so
yea i assumed time was worth nothing
if u have that much dedication
mayb u could do it
96 artisan keycaps for every person?
could ezely sell for 2 grand a piece
for the whole kb
That's not how you force artificial scarcity but ok
The way to succeed in artisans is to make your artisans be seen as collectibles
which is what it currently is
Uh huh
except the one selling on etsy
The artisan guys can easily pump out more than a 100 a month
But they don't because it's better for them if they don't
ooh yea I call that the "rolex business model"
even to force scarcity u need to make for the whole kb na cuz thats what ur whole selling point is
What are you talking about??
see the whole business model is to make artisan keycaps for the whole kb
But why?
because it wud look cool as fuck
i don't think i've seen a whole keyboard of artisan keycaps that wud be crazy expensive
