any would be fine tbh budget
but not over 300 dollars
i want a prebuilt board but with hotswappable
I watch alot of streamers with custom board and i cannot hold my temtation anymore
pretty much
cause theres not really much custom board place here
asia
yep the gmmk pro is not even availabje here
Mostly in popular asian country like china and japan
my place bad
But 4hr shipping is good
kbdfans
Yep
I heard thay kdbfans are good
I dont live in singapore
i live in indonesia
Hehehehe
yea tofu
What about epomaker
?
I think so
What about gk64xs
oh really
id80 is 390 dollars here
So my spacebar rattles and I was wondering if there is a way to get rid of it or at least help it a bit without having to take everything apart
loose?
dude just look on Shopee for GMMK Pro's
or even physical stores, I know friends who live in Malaysia who have them in stores
why is there a keyboards channel but not for mice?
Treat this channel as the "Peripheral" channel.
SwiftpointZMasterRace
@hasty saffron
is the gk61 hotswappable with 3 pin switches?
Like an akko cs red rose
the person selling to me said that its optical switches only
then its only compatible with gateron opticals only
fuckkkk
Welp that sucks
hm
Beli Paradox Gaming GHOST GK68X DIY Kit Wired RGB Hotswap Custom Keyboard - Hitam https://tokopedia.link/5EQj0NYGqgb di toko DGeva Gaming Rp625.000 di Tokopedia dengan Bebas Ongkir, Sekarang!
Should i get this instead?
cool
what do you think of razer deathadder essential?
it costs $30 on amazon
but I found one for $17
Not bad
ehhh sure
Steel series apex pro worth it?
seems good enough
Yo I have a question
On the back of my gateron blue switches it says F-K
What does the F-K mean
The keyboard is GK61
most likely just the mold marking
so that if one batch has defective housings, they know which mold is causing trouble to remove it for maintenance
https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/602214150848118840/749453503801589780/20200830_092015.jpg?width=218&height=473
an example
this is the bottom side of one of my gateron yellow
well going to try to like the gateron yellow again ... wish me luck ...
😉
well ... it looks like I equipped the snowfox with kailh box navy last time I swap something in it ...
still find them a bit heavy but overall these are great switches
finally
@misty crypt what keycap set is that. It look super good
what keyboard is that? 👀
Glorious GMMK Pro
looks nice
it unfortunately was only a softlaunch and i'm pretty sure all remaining slots are filled for now
and also, is that 70%?
75%
Noice
My condolences on mouse
oh, they have stock
but nice board I guess
though the gaskets basically don’t work on gmnk pro
and stab fit is a bit wonky on aftermarket stabs
though polycarb plate works fine iirc
yeah, i know about the stab fit thing
i did get some Durock V2 stabs but decided to just stick with stock
Yes I knew ... they have the box white spring I think with the navy click bar
IIRC you can still reserve now but you will have to wait a long while.
yeah
also the boards being produced starting... i think today will not support QMK out of the box
yeah, they said they're looking into making the chips in the newer GMMK Pros support QMK with a firmware update
also where can i get VIA?
i pretty much only wanted glorious core for the firmware updates and RGB control
i was hoping it'd be a bit more robust but this is actually quite fuckin bad
gotcha, thanks
good thing it's on both windows and linux since i dual boot
can't seem to find it
maybe if i quit glorious core
this should work with VIA out of the box, right?
it does not lol
hey guys I'm looking for a sub $100 tkl keyboard that's good for gaming and productivity that doesn't have too much of a clack
I preordered the gmmk pro too
I will also get the model d wireless once that releases and I will be satisfied
Amazon.com: RK ROYAL KLUDGE RK87 RGB Wireless/Wired 80% TKL Mechanical Keyboard, NKRO 87 Keys Bluetooth Gaming Office Keyboard with Rechargeable Battery for Windows and Mac: Computers & Accessories
is 65% or 75% acceptable
now, if I were to sell a fairly new G413 Carbon how much should I sell it for
I bought it for $65
45 dollars would be good
$30 lowest price starting price 42$
kk
definitely, I don't need num pad, but I do need fkeys
What is better claymore 2 ROG or k100 Corsair
can I use any 60% keyboard case for an ortholinear keyboard?
Any have any suggestions for a ok mechanical keyboard for under 70 usd?
RK84?
gamakay k61, k66, k87
Thx for the suggestion but I've decided I'm gonna get the keychron c2
any suggestions on a 60/65% keyboard for around 100

The snowfox is a nice board ... the only thing I don't like about it is that I don't seem to be able to put a single solid color in hardware mode ... if someone know how to do it please teach me
None of them available at my region
: (
Depends.
Because you know how it is.
It's all about

You don't. Lubing requires coating the spring, the parts of the bottom housing, and parts of the lower half of the stem. All of which are inaccessible without opening them up.
Finally got my second board much to the dismay of my family lmfao
can't wait to take out the reds in them and put in either outemu purples or akko cs switches
can i use krytox 205g0 to lube stabilisers? or is it not thick enough
thats good enough
thats what the hobby has been using right until 2020 when a crapton of new products started popping up
cool setup really like the deskmat+waterbottle, they look like they were made for eachother
Gib 😦
ayyy, i have the same keyboard
You can always spray lube lol
For cheap clones, yeah, they're not bad, but don't pay more than 50 bucks for a board with them
You can but it's not really recommended.
meh
I assumed he was just talking about like <30 kb's
Like the k552 or smt
what are your kb specs
Indeed he must be talking about the basic lineup of red, brown and blue ...
Does Linus have videos on keyboards that can be partially pressed? Like a controller? I think some games could benefit of partially pressing W and I'm curious if LTT has tested any.
It might be called that way, that would make sense
I only know of one which is called wooting one
It is indeed called analog
It's just really freaking expensive
Aren't hall effect switches analog ones?
True well I have always used a blue switches Sharkoon keyboard which I really love for coding and they're only like 70 bucks
Hyper x has a board with those right ?
Kailh
I think they're lovely
Interesting
Are they tactile?
Awesome
I'll look into that
@hasty saffron not the ones I was thinking about
I put my kailh box whites in my gmmk with my double shot sa keycaps today... was missing that profile
Thanks
Yes
I was thinking about omnipoint switches with adjustable actuation point as analog switches
@hasty saffron yes they have thinner clickbar than navy and jade
And the spring of the jade
And the jade have the navy clickbar if I remember correctly
That's the final product
You've clearly seen nothing there ... it's just a small part of the mess
Yeah indeed
hey what's the quietest sub $100 keyboard, with rgb, I can buy
preferably tkl up to 60%
Are halo true good switches ?
Beautiful
thanks
y'know, there's a tux key too for linux users, and while i am one, and while it is a cute key, the aesthetic of the windows 9x logo is just way too good
Wow interesting
Aah I see you went with an antique ibm model m look
i have an actual Model M lol; the keycaps don't look as nice as these
the 9x logo seems a bit jarring to me, just because of its size it feels wrong
usually on actual older keyboards it’s smaller
true, but i think a smaller 9x logo would look more out of place with this particular set
I'd agree, since the legend is relatively large and centered
I have the corsair k70 mk2. Is there a "type" of keycaps that would fit it? What would be the name of them? How do I look for them?
I have the brown switches btw, if that matters
these days it's been getting easier to find keycaps compatible with corsair boards; corsair themselves even sell some PBT keycaps
iirc the main differences in key sizes that a corsair board has are...
1U windows keys and a 7U space bar
as opposed to the typical 1.25U windows keys and 6.25U space bar
oh also a 1U menu key, i think
trying to recall my memory of my K95
mhm thats right
it's the sizes of the keycaps that matter with a corsair board; as for type, all of corsair's boards have cherry mx or mx-based switches, so just look for any cherry mx-compatible keycaps
my windows is 1u, and space is 7u
yeah, so that's all you gotta look for, really
a lot of these enthusiast keycaps like the ones i have are getting much better at accommodating these nonstandard key sizes
but... buying a set of those for like $70 minimum to put on a corsair K70 is like buying $8000 rims to put on a 2004 honda civic
i mentioned corsair sells their own PBT keycaps though; that's probably a reasonable upgrade
yep
https://www.corsair.com/ca/en/Categories/Products/Accessories-|-Parts/pbt-config/p/CH-9000234-WW
CORSAIR raises the bar on keyboard performance with PBT double-shot, backlit compatible keycaps. Each keycap is created using our special two-shot molding process, ensuring more durability, more stability and legends that won’t fade.
pardon the canadian link though
they're available in white and black
PBT is good; has a nice, rough texture that doesn't slip as easily as the ABS caps your board came with
hm... there are those pudding keycaps
what about oil stains
They do
I really do like these
https://en.varmilo.com/keyboardproscenium/subject_product_other?subjectid=288
But only if you have mega greasy hands
but I dont they would fit
mine are relatively less greasy, so I guess they are good
those look pretty good
would they fit tho
might wanna find a retailer to buy them from though; varmilo generally isn't great at direct sales
lemme double-check
...yeah, their site is devoid of information on that lol
i mentioned pudding caps; they're a nice choice for RGB-heavy boards
hyperX ones?
found a set that includes some nonstandard sizes, including ones that should fit your board
https://www.amazon.com/YMDK-Through-Profile-Mechanical-Keyboard/dp/B08CB8D2YB
Amazon.com: YMDK PBT Double Shot Shine Through ANSI ISO Pudding Keyset Suitable for MX Mechanical Keyboard Corsair Razer Ducky SF KBD75 Tada68 DZ60 (Black Pudding Full Set)(Only Keyset): Computers & Accessories
nah, see
one company produces these caps by the truckload
oh I see
then all these other companies are free to buy their stock and rebrand it as their own
hyperx would be unnecessarily expensive then
glorious auras, hyperx puddings, ducky puddings, they're all ultimately from this one manufacturer lol
aye
also was it 7U or 6.5U...
looks like it'll fit though
7U
well nah, like
i said that pretty confidently at the start but now i'm not so sure
since the listing shows a 6.5U space bar
yep, that's the one
so yeah, those puddings are an option
i've used puddings before; they provide a nice, dramatic RGB effect
tbh I'm more leaned towards the varmillo ones
since they let the light shine through all on the sides as well as the tops
I like a matte affect like that more
aye, but i'll need to find out if they include extra keycaps of the right size
yeah, i'm tryna find it too
i gotta go to bed for now though
they have so less info on this
yeah lmao
aight, cya! Thanks a lot
they sell keycaps.. but dont have the info for them
varmilo generally relies on their retail partners to provide the proper info

ah thats kina dodgy since I can't go to physical places because of covid
mechanicalkeyboards.com is where i've gone to shop for varmilo's stuff in the past
well i say retailers, i mean online stores lol
np yo, good luck
Maxkeyboards lets you have custom colourways.
I really want to build a hot swappable keeb, but honestly don't know where to even get all the parts
EU btw.
how much are you willing to spend and what look are you going for
If you want just a normal gamer looking one just buy one from Amazon
but a cheap hotswap would be nk65
Doesn't need be cheap, but i want hotswap cause i'm able to switch it up then, instead of soldering.
If you’re looking at keyboards, the number of keys is the size reference.
The NK65™ - Entry Edition is a standard 65% layout keyboard with a hotswap PCB. The PCB is VIA compatible with per switch RGB lighting. The switches are south facing. The kit will come with the polycarbonate case, aluminum plate, PCB (same PCB as the NK65™ v2 - Aluminum Edition), Cherry style plate mount stabilizers -
108 keys is a full-size keyboard, 87 is tenkeyless, and there’s also custom sizes with different layouts.
When were they last in stock?
Going in stock: NK65 - Entry (all colors) - Q3 2021
I like the Varmilo I have better than my Leopold FC980C with topre switches, so I’d definitely vouch for the quality of their products.
alrighty ty
im looking for keycaps, I know the keys (104/105/108), but the sizes are the issue
what sizes?
are you worried about keycap profiles or just how many keys come in the box?
the physical sizes of the keys
not the profiles (thats just the height right?)
2 sec
this is my layout
both windows keys and clipboard keys are 1U
and the spacebar is 6.5u
opposed to the 6/6.25U standard (idk which one it is)
sets over 80$ which come with extras come with 1U keys which are those
so a lot of keycap sets wont fit because of the smaller windows key
ah shit are there any cheaper ones?
you need to buy the extras or get a set which gets those
probably, but you are getting absolute garbage
a set with those is what I am struggling to find
how much do decent PBT keycaps cost
I dont want ultra high pro gamer cool boi coder hackerman ones
what profile, also PBT?
ABS has better colors
but they get a oily a lot faster
what profile is standard?
like what do you reckon comes with keyboards
the "standard" is Cherry/GMK
oh that are profiles?
it's called the cherry profile
I thought these are
those are SA
the cherry profile then
Specs: Design by GOK PBT material Cherry Profile Dye-sub 146 Keys Manufacturer: enjoypbt Compatible with Cherry MX switches and MX-style clones Just keycaps, not keyboards Work with DZ60 REV3.0, DZ60RGB, DZ60RGB ANSI, KBD67 REV2.0, KBD67 MKII, KBD75, DZ65RGB, DZ60RGB WKL Color reference GMK WS2,Spot sale, not group pu
i think they look sexy
but they are plain white
i mean, you could like them, im sure many people do
but this is the stuff i like
75 + 69.55 is close to what my keyboard cost
dont u think thats too much for keycaps ?
i have 100 USD as budget for a new keyboard with blue switches but nothing that good seems to available in my country except GK64 and hyperx alloy pro tkl
yeah, thats what I mean, im not getting them\

Guys are the akko rose red switches good?
is my 20 dollar bloody q135 good for broke mfs?
I don't like them
They’re meh
If you're getting a generic set, then yeah. But at that price, you're likely getting something good, or something you really want out of a keycap set, like a nice colourway.
the keycaps on my board that i posted earlier are a modified version of SA
Hmm
Interesting
I'll see about that
Oh damn
Well I think I could just make jades with my box white and box navy
What would yall say would be the best keyboard for around or under 180usd? I would prefer silent red switches if possible.
https://youtu.be/yWQdeph9zc8?t=16
this silent?

Just wanted to quickly share some typing sounds from the Skog Reboot I built , with Seriko silent linear switches (THANKS KOD)

that almost sounds like membrane lol. I mean i don't really want to build a keyboard but
just asking about the level of silentness
youre from the us?
yea
what is your preffered form factor?
full size, tkl, 60% or 65%?
oh ok. I mean as long as there about or more quite then silent reds. I want tkl, but if there is a 75 percent that would be nice
and
assembling your own keeb is pretty easy with the inclusion of hotswap sockets
you just plug in the switches, put your keycaps on top
bam
I just don't know what that means but it sounds expensive
meh
ok, would you recommend that over buying a prebuilt?
i would, based on the basis that you can customize the board easier than most prebuilts
there are prebuilts with hotswap sockets as well, so i will recommend some of that as well
ok, thanks. Is there like a pc part picker but for keyboards? lol. or r u just going to send me links
imma send you links
there are sort of pcpartpicker for keyboard stuff, but its limited to group buys and stuff that has an interest check, which most of the time are pretty expensive
👍 thanks
in order of increasement in the amount of rgb, these are the prebuilt options:

with these board, i hightly recommend buying with some lubricants to modify the stabilizers and also lubing the switches
you should wire balance and lube the stabs (holee mod if necessary)

Welcome to Keybored! Today, we're going to fix a Rattling Stabilizer! We're not going to load it up with Grease, but using an alternative method such as the Epsi, Holee and even the Band-Aid Wrap mod!

next up, hotswap kit options
https://www.pcgamingrace.com/products/glorious-gmmk-pro-75-barebone-black-reservation good board but currently having issues in fullfilling its promised, and its pre-order

https://www.idobao.net/products/idobao-id80-75-hot-swappable-mechanical-keyboard-kit looks good, but has a pretty stiff typing experience, pingy and hollowy, and only works with screw in stabilizers
https://epomaker.com/products/epomaker-gk87-kit
So I've been typing on the halo true in my snowfox ... they've been lube either by factory of by the previous owner ... they feel like heavy smooth buttery linear ... quite silent ... probably too much lube in there
@quiet thistle youre from the us right?
I like the weight
halo true is not factory lubed so yea
the previous owner overlubed them
ok
Could get a GMMK and add your own switches and keycaps.
yea, sorry for late response
right
and you have no previous experience with mechanical switches?
this is my current keyboard, got it on black friday for 50 but its 70 at like any best buy:
https://www.corsair.com/us/en/Categories/Products/Gaming-Keyboards/RGB-Mechanical-Gaming-Keyboards/K70-RGB-MK-2-Low-Profile/p/CH-9109017-NA
The CORSAIR K70 RGB MK.2 Low Profile Mechanical Gaming Keyboard combines the all-day comfort of low-profile, low travel keys, with the performance of CHERRY® MX mechanical keyswitches and stunning RGB lighting.
whats your opinion about the current switch?
too light, just enough or?
Sorry, im getting a lot of info in another server. thanks for the help but im just going to stick with there recommendations for now
what do they recommend i might ask?
leopold
I actually got a recommendation for them from a seperate server as well
pretty good quality prebuilt not gonna lie
my only gripe is that they only have cherry mx switches which are meh, and they are soldered, which you will need a soldering station and accessories to mod em
expect they have good batches of cherry hyperglides smh
@quiet thistle
I would go gmmk instead of leopold ... unless you're really set on getting cherry switches ... which I would not recommend
I mean i just dont have the time to switch all the switches out
nor do i have the time to lube each individual key
nor the mental focus lol
But with a hotswap you'll at least have the choice to getting something else in the future.
Also, Cherry switches aren't bad. Again, preference.
Ive never tried anything outside of cherry, so i wouldn't know. what would you recommend as a hotswap keyboard that is as loud or quiter than silent reds?
i have listed my recommendations above, you can take a look
yea
its just that the price they offer make it not competitive compare to others
Could add an RK84 to that list, maybe with Kailh silent box pinks.
Or MX Zilents if you can somehow afford those.
r those just the pcbs or the swithces and keys as well
An RK84 is a complete kit.
also, do they come with the switches and keys installed?
Fully assembled.
the first fews are prebuilts that comes with the switches and keycaps
after 2 yt videos linked are those that doesnt come with switches and keycaps
They come with TTC switches, which aren't half bad. Their reds are decent.
80 percent too, very nice
bump.
these are the prebuilts with hotswap socket options
amazon says the rk84 has a red switch, i wanted silent red or quiter sry
ok
well silent red will fall into the same ish sound level like the skog reboot example i gave
which you said that it sounds like a membrane and that you dont like it?
I never said i dont like it, it sounds nice tbh. I would have to disagree tho, i think reds or quite a bit louder than silent reds, at least from comparing silent reds to the board i currently have
You can always buy your own. You have the budget.
but not the time
^
Swapping switches doesn't take too long. Maybe like, fifteen or twenty minutes?
Comes with a switch puller.
I have the kailh silent box brown ... they are quiet and have a really nice tactile bump with nice spring weight ... their linear counterpart are kailh silent box pink which have been recommended previously ...
those in the gmmk
ppl said from another server if you want to lube it, it takes 4+ hours?
multiple people
You don't need to lube them.
Just swapping them to another switch you like doesn't take long.
the whole point of me getting a hotswap would be having the ability to properly lube them
If they come with silent reds i wouldn't want to change that
But you don't have to...?
Lubing them is a choice.
You can swap then out for silent reds or silent box pinks or whatever. You have the choice.
That's the actual point of a hotswap.
So you don't have to fumble around soldering.
I think im just going to stick with the leopold. thanks for the help though
you lube them if you feel they need lube
ye
First minute of this video kinda makes me think otherwise. again thanks for the help but i think ive made a descision. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=44Wv4OGdmu4&ab_channel=TaehaTypes

Stem holder: ...
I've never lube any of my switches ... I bought some halo true that has been lubed by the previous owner and I think that it might be overlubed
Why would you buy them
They're completely useless, the stems are the only thing worth anything
Probably used pricing at that point.
Still wouldn't buy them
well
preference, some like the top tactile bump on em??
Better off getting gat yellows
I have gat yellow and they are way too light for me
Buy some nice 72g springs from sprit
I've been recommended the boba U4t and that's probably my next purchase
I don't really care about rgb so ... doesn't matter to me ... but it's all a matter of preference
look , my savings are like 100 USD per month which i spend on other stuffs
I never said you should buy them.
Just stating that it's normal for keycaps to cost that much.
it's my third day with my first linear switch keyboard, just wanna share my thoughts, it's kind of bittersweet, like, I can type smoother, but it kinda feels like my accuracy is declining, like I since I don't feel the bump I usually feel, I mistype alot more than I usually do, but can I ask will it go away after I get used to it?
You'll get used to it.
ahh, ok thanks\
Can always get heavier springs
lol, since I'm used to the ISO enter key, i sometimes press the slash when I press enter lol
ahh ok
what switches do you guys usually daily drive?
gateron yellow and scissor switch
yes
- switches are referred to every keyswitches that uses the cherry mx mount style
https://deskthority.net/wiki/Scissor_switch
this is so interesting to learn, thanks XD
my first and so far only build uses Durock T1s lol
i also have an IBM Model M in my office setup, so there's buckling spring representation there
I don't have daily drive switches ... I change every few weeks ... also I use keyboard only during week end
I have membranes for now since I'm waiting for my GMMK Pro to come in.
After that, it's lubed Halo Clears.
i've previously used razer greens twice and steelseries brown clones
which keyboard is a good upgrade form a razor?
Budget? And what kind of keyboard are you looking for?
i have 200 dollars i was thinking a 60 percent keyboard?
i was thinking a ducky 1 2 mini
Anne pro 2 + some new keycaps might be a good option, though the ducky seems similar
ok thx for the advice
Np
Ok thanks
Red or blue
Yes
Light
Ok
Yes I can sodder
Lol
Thanks for the help
Ok ty
I had the anne pro 2 ... didn't like it at all ... then I got the kemove snowfox and I confirmed why I didn't like the anne pro 2 ...
anne pro 2 ... soldered switches, lightning looks really meh, sound is meh with cherry blue, spacebar stab was really noisy and I had to lube it a lot to make the noise stop, keycaps are just ok
any big servers about mech kbs
kbdfans
TaehaTypes
r/switchmodders
JYMV
thats a sub not a server
they have a server
like how r/mousereview does
I almost like the yellow space bar
They do, a quick Google search will give you the link.
Uh anyone pls help, i broke my stabalizers hook thingy that you use to open em, i managed to get the stab out but can i still use it? Im not planning to get new ones AT ALL
So it doesnt clip in as usual but it does go in fine
Do i have to use glue and never get it out ever again?
You can still use it but when you take out the caps the side with the broken clip should be yeeted out
Yea
It wont be secured
But the force of the caps reverting to its position shouldnt be enough to make the housing pop out.
You can stick in some band aid around the place where the housing sits on the plate to make it more tight
Ok good thx
Also im in the middle of holee so im probably gonna be asking things lol
So im following this mod for my exact keyboard for now and im struggling to put foam inside, this person manages to out in a large peice and sqweeze the pcb in, idk how he did it but i just cant, what do i do? Heres the link: (timestamp: 2:15)
Today I mod the SK61 by using Krytox 205 g0 on Gateron Optical Red switches and filling the case with foam. I also swap the keycaps out with Mojito PBT keycaps from Banggood!
⬇️Affilliate links to help out the channel ⬇️
Get the SK61 here: https://epomaker.com?sca_ref=450109.wjDF4oHK4N&&sca_ref=450109.wjDF4oHK4N

Have to trim the foam
Or completely remove where thr pcb got pushed up too much
Especially if your foam is hard to compress
The guy prob use different foam than yours, which are more easy to compress?
Ok so make it thinner?
Probably yes, his is more hollow
Yea
Mine is a bit more dense
Like i try to conpress it with my hand its pretty easy to compress down, i think i can also manage to do it but even after i trim it the pcb bends allot
@ionic briar
Foam =quarter the thickness
Pcb = at risk
Scews = screwed up
Mission = fail
Nvm it all worked out i fixed the foam and the pcb is live, im opening switches rn
So in the video im watching they use superlube and put the springs in a plastic bag and put a small amount of superlube in, can i replace superlube with normal lube?
yes
as a matter of preference i would recommend against using grease consistency lube for bag lubing
cause it takes more time to wipe off the excess lube out of those springs
than manually applied said lube with a brush
So whats the easiest way them?
then apply a thin coat on the spring pole
Ok is there a pic or vid?
Hmm ok ill see
basically lightly dip both ends of a spring into your lube
or use a brush to apply said lube
for a thinner layer
then apply a thin coat on the spring pole
Oh ok
Thx
Since im going to use this method is it more efficient to leave it for the end?
Ima just do it
leave what for the end?
Springs
yea
Ok thxxx
housing then spring then stem then assemble
Mk
who here can help me find a keyboard/mouse
keyboard i can
whats your budget, whats your preferred form factor and switch type, where are you from?
just for the keeb
O_O ok well, im in michigan right now but will be moving to CA so just United States ig xd
and as the switch type lol iv only ever had 1 keyboard which is a corsair k55 rgb keyboard
but iv heard there are some keyboard out there that give better resistant to the switched,
and this one is a bit to easy to press them and makes it hard to type with a weird feeling
right
whats your budget?
does not matter as long as its a good keyboard
but if possible 300 max
and do you want the full size form factor of the k55 or you want something more compact?
@rocky scarab
oh sorry was looking up stuff
imm im not sure
idk keyboard layouts xd the only keyboard iv ever had is this one or laptop ones
Ok so i fthank god i was testing to lube one switch before mass lubing and im in big trouble, i think im not using the right lube, i followed the exact lubing instructions and first of all my switch was getting stuck, second of all it was making a soft friction sound when i press it after i fixed the stuck problem by washing it off and drying it
what lube are you using?
Its called anti seize nickel lubricator
also did you position the top housing in reverse?
Thats what i did at first but i fixed it
yea that lube doesnt work with thermoplastics
Can i use it for stabs atleast?
forgot to ask
you did apply a thin coat of em right?
could be that the lube is so thick it made the stem hard to move
As thin as i can get them to be, its also very hard to wash off so im not trying it again, and i cant beleive someone reccomended this
@ionic briar
i think its so viscous that you cant apply a thin coat
and yea
id rather go with the normal krytox stuff

no its ok
idk why ppl recommend that
That crap is expensive tho i couldnt beleive i found a good deal untill i saw its not right
And it took ages to arrive
Its just so sad i spent 3 hours opening switches for no reason
who tell you to get that?
Someone on a keyboard server
They stopped responding to my questions so i started asking here
which server?
just give me the name
I think it was glarses
my guess is that ppl trolled you
Sad
So i basically did nothing today? I cant get use of what ive done? I cant use that lube for anything else and waisted my entire day?
i mean its too thick
at least it wont gonna eat your switch plastic stuff
Yeah lime vaseline lol
I managed to clean most of it off but it still is making soft friction noises
That explains that it wasnt the thinness
Ok one last question before i stop waisting your time for no reason (sorry btw), what now? Do i just close up my switches
Like nothing happened?
yea
after you have tried your best to clean up the lube
prob put all the housings and whatnot in mild soap for a while and then use a brush to brush off the lube
id say no
the lube is too thick the lube itself creates frictions
you can resell i guess
Or refund hehe
did you say it was vaseline?
nope
anti seize nickel grease
oh
oh wait
it contains nickel
looks like something you would use for engines
rip
Rip
if it mx browns though its okay
Sadly im not a normie
ah then rip :(
Can someone send me a good lube reccomendation and not troll me (i beg)
Krytox I think. That’s popular

I hate that us here are so behind on hobbies like this
Everyone here is like oN mY BiRtHdAy i WaNt a Ps5
No unique interests
ya keep talking about lube 😐 and my minds thinking a dif type xd
Lol
So what im gonna do is pack up my keyboard parts and use some old membrane for now 😒
Also whats so bad about wd 40?
its petroleum base, which will react with thermoplastic and start dissolving them
Ok ok
What's a good TKL keyboard kit for someone who's brand-new to building?
I'd go for GMMK pro or smth like that, but I wanted to use these keycaps that don't have the right size right shift
It's difficult to find information on building a keyboard
hexgears gemini, womier k87 or these 2: https://flashquark.com/product/falcon-elite-hotswap-tkl-with-usb-c-bluetooth-and-rgb-mechanical-keyboard-kit/
https://flashquark.com/product/blackhawk-hotswappable-tenkeyless-with-usb-c-bluetooth-and-rgb-mechanical-keyboard-kit/
Thanks for the advice but I'm really looking for a kit that I can assemble at home, not a pre-built one that I can switch the keycaps on!
the latter 2 are those
the pic are just for demonstrating purposes
Anyone know if this keyboard is any good? https://www.cclonline.com/product/332141/TWKB-P105ZO-BRUK/Keyboards/Tecware-Phantom-RGB-Backlit-USB-Mechnical-Keyboard-Outemu-Brown-Switches-105-Keys-UK-ISO/KBD2115/
either that or the TKL version
i want a keyboard with tactile (brown etc) switches and this is the only one i can find that i can really afford atm
Oh that’s a bummer
I prefer a metal backplate at least
i mean
you said brand new to building, so i assume under 100 usd for the kit
whats your budget?
$300-$400 total
oh great
scarlet tkl b stock
ranging from 225 to 265 usd for the kit
Oh that’s not too bad
b stock means minor cosmetic defects like a spot where the anode doesnt work
Then some gateron yellows
or akko cs switch
Yeah I know what b-stock is
Akko cs switch?
Are they linear?
are there other options besides the scarlet tkl?
frog tkl
but that thing is not live yet
I can wait a bit
according to the current roadmap on geonworks website
it will be live starting from june to december this year
Okay!!!
tho with the kit being 275 usd only
i think you have some room for more higher end switch and caps options ngl
@blazing star
But I really like those pheilicia caps
Switches I might be able to go a bit higher-end
maybe durock linear?
How much are they?
youre from the us?
Yes
0.55 per switch from divinikeys
JWK Durock Linear Switches feature smokey clear housings with stem colors indicating their spring weight. So it’ll probably be around $50
also those phelica caps has legend aligning issues which isnt worth the 80 usd asking price
I was planning on getting them without a legend
Or maybe not idk
If it’s bad I can return them
I haven’t found another set that looks nearly as good
the kit doesnt come with stabs, heres some stabs

Ok thank you
that leaves around 66 usd for caps
wait the scarlet has no windows key
F
sorry, couldn't really look at it on mobile
Maybe Massdrop CTRL?
ohhh ok
no backlight either
i work in the dark sometimes so having a backlight to see the damn keyboard is kinda important to me
ehhh
i mean, most gb boards doesnt come with rgb
cause that doesnt look as professional
but ic
hmmm
you can wait for frog tkl to go live
will frog tkl have backlight?
from the latest build stream it will
the soldered version will have through holes for tht leds whereas the hotswap version will have smd leds
ok
b stock does
for white and blue, both winkey and winkeyless
Cute little board! Where did you get the caps?

Also what are the specs of it?
Oh thanks
It's called the 45-ATS. It uses lubed and filmed Alpaca V2s, lubed Durock V1 stabs, and the keycaps I linked.
Alright cool, thanks
Wait, I lied. I'm using Gazzew Boba U4t Thocky switches.
@ionic briar
can u help me find a dif keyboard i want one with the G keys and thats rgb/led
@ionic briar sorry for pinging but im in a bit of a rush i just want to know if this is fine for lubing: https://www.amazon.ae/Negaor-lubricant-Lubricating-Lubricant-Anti-rust/dp/B08H1PBWNT
Can't find any Krytox or Tribosys lubes?
Because we don't know the viscosity of that lube you just linked.
Yeah you're probably better off with the usual Krytox/Tribosys lubes. Still can't tell what Super Lube really is.
ok thx
hey guys
so im kinda new to all this
i have decided on 2 things so far
I want my layout to be tkl and my switch to be silent alpacas
where do i start with pcbs cases and backplates and all that stuff
iunno man, learn to touch type
Looking for help with finding a keyboard
I need a keyboard thats kinda like my corsair k55 rgb i wat it to have the extra G keys for keybinds but for the keys to have a bit more of a resistant to pressing and i type quick and the light keys be weird feeling so i want to get a keyboard thats got a bit harder to press keys but not to hard, and thats rgb/led still ^^ Budget is around 300-400
imagine not being able to type without looking
but also just turn on the lights man
lol
im not sure of the layouts :T everyone keeps asking me that but idk xd iv only ever used a corsair so idk wt other types there are
hmm one sec let me try to find something with all the layouts\
im using this for gaming so which one of those do u think would be best for it? i can adapt to it if its better
wdym clickies?
and idk how to build one but ill try if its easy
and iv legit only ever used corsair k55
idk is there a way to check on my keyboard
i can send an image of it if u want
also i kinda like the bent looking ones
they look cool wts the name of it so i can look it uyp
ok
oh i didnt mean the switch type
i meant the shape type
i cant see the letters on it
no i meant the name of the keyboard layout
ok
nvm i dont want that xd
one sec let me send u an image of mine
ahh
then yea that
i dont need the numbers on the right side tho
is there a keyboard with the G keys but not the number pad?
keys for extra keybinds
yea macro ones
With QMK and VIA you can remap the keys to whatever you want.
So ensure your keyboard is compatible with those.
Group buy tho :(
but its not rgb it seems
i want a keyboard like the one i have but just for the keys to be a bit harder to press
Does the boba u4t have the contact leads thinner like the outemu base (red, brown, blue) switches used by redragon ?
Is that even hotswappable?
is this for keyboards only or mice too?
if this isnt for mice what channel can i go to?
arguably you can talk about mice here too
Can anyone recommend a good 108 key barebones? A 104 key would be fine too (I have my eyes on the gmk), but I would love to have the 4 extra macro/media keys
if you dont mind cherry mx i would advise you to not spend 150+ on gmk and buy a leopold PD
But like the pd doesnt have a num pad
I need a TKL/60% keyboard to play cod on.
Which one should I get?
I currently have a red dragon one and it's huge
I read that ducky keyboards have latency problems so I'm a bit lost rn
it needs to be wireless?
they make layouts from 66 to fullsizes?
@ionic briar nope
whats your budget, where are you from?
My budget is about $150
America
Make that $120. $150 feels like a lot

and lemme tell ya, 150 is on the cheap end for keyboards
Me rocking an 80€ MnK combo
Where do i get a 1 peice replacement for my switch
which switch?
depending on which switch it is you can probably just find whoever's selling testers of it
pls dont judge lol ||optical redsss||
Gateron?
@ionic briar is there such a thing or do i have to buy a whole other set or steal it lol
optical reds are quite nice
you need to buy like 10 switches
you can't buy just 1
yeah
still too much
you can't get them in smaller sizes
can i make a diy switch lol
ik i sound very cheap but shipping custom kayboard components in my area costs allot of shipping
where you ship them to
sa or uae
how much the import tax and sales tax
atleast 20 bucks
huh?
the switch batch costs like 6 bucks and the sales and import tax are together 10% in UAE
so 6.60$
please send the link
thanks
i found some on aliexpress

I need to change my old Logitech g602 (random double click issue) for another similar wireless with macro buttons mouse. Does anyone have some feedback on those ?
1- Logitech G604
2- Razer Naga pro
eyy thx
I am kind of sour with logitech sending me 2 time the same product with 2 different problems ...
I will look for it ! Thank you ! 😄
@ionic briar thank you
ive been interested in these custom boards recently lmao they look and sound rly nice
how much do they usually cost for a full size?
preferably a kit, and id avoid soldering if thats possible lmao im pretty shit but i could probably learn it
do they even use cherry mx in that space or smth else
I'm thinking about getting this keyboard as its a TKL and I don't have much space on my desk.
My brother has this and it’s a pretty nice keeb, though I don’t like typing on the blues so maybe get reds
nonono if you're going for the apex pro go for the omnipoint switches
theyre like 1 of the fastest switches on the market
fast response time and short actuation distance
I'm currently at best buy rn
@potent void
So far I've concluded that I like clicky stuff
So one of these
My brother wants to learn butterfly clicking, he is debating between these three mice: Redragon cobra m711, logitech g203, razer deathadder essential. can anyone tell me which is the best for learning?
Whatever is more comfortable.
Unless one of them has an insanely long actuation distance, which I doubt.
he doesnt have access to the mice, so he cant try each of them out and see what he likes
It depends wildly. But I'll admit, there aren't many full-sized custom keyboards I've seen.
Most of them are usually 60-80%.
Cheapest one, then. If it's not good, return it. Don't have much of a choice.
You can get separate custom numpads.
hmmm yeah i doubt I'm gonna want it enough for that shit lmao
But what is the price usually then?
I don't know. But I imagine, though, that full-sized customs are on the more expensive side, unless you go the inexpensive Chinese hotswap pre-built route. In which case, you may be looking at, maybe, $100 USD?
no I want the secksy sounds
currently I have razer greens I'm getting very tired of them
https://youtu.be/AOFnLntygwE this was the video that cursed me
Find keyboard parts here: https://shopmech.com/
so i finally decided to add case foam to my tofu65 lol
specs:
- KBDFans tofu65
- Gazzew Boba U4t switches - Lubed krytox 205g0, filmed w/ deskeys
- kbd67 solder pcb
- polycarbonate plate for them deep thoccs
- HK dye sub PBT BoW keycaps
- durock screw in stabs
- and a white tshirt in lieu of a de...
Chinese pre-builts aren't terrible, honestly. Some come with aluminum plates, if that comforts you.
I understand I may not be able to achieve this god level but I want it lmao
hmhmhmg
I'll look for a full-size though.
thanke
are they hard to make?
They just require more material and more through into its design.
I heard you gotta fucking solder them and put lube stuff into it siahegitbejwisn
hmmm
Like the ai03 Vega is an example of this, and it turned out to be a literal cheat code.
Nothing can sound wrong on it*

Don't even know where to begin with this keyboard. Some say it looks like every other 65%, this may be true...

oh bruh lmao
It's the closest thing to the sound of Hagaromo Fulltouch on a freshly wiped chalkboard.
It's just so
🤌
well i think I'd be looking at aluminium frame with that polycarbonate plate thing maybe and some reds or smth maybe blues without click if thats an option
oh dang lmao
is rgb an option btw? 😂
or is that like nonexistent
Blue click usually ... well the "traditional" ones do
Blue without click would be tactile
Ye
ye I haven't tried reds a lot but with my limited experience they feel nice
These guys have some numpad options.
it is? pog
Not 100%, but stuff like a 60% with a keypad.
Ye. Stuff like the GMMK/GMMK Pro and the Cyberboard.
That is a really nice layout
Gmmk is available full size ...
it's a nice enough board
Barebones though?
they're all weird
Do they come in a full-size barebones?
pogness
Not sure about it
My tkl came bare bone... not sure about the full size, should check the glorious site to be sure
I wish there was just a normal full layout lmao
Define normal ...
this layout
oh shit I realized I use Nordic layout
Is that gonna be nonexistent too
or is iso Nordic
Iso is iso ... I don't know if nordic is a special kind of iso
Probably better off getting an 80% and a separate keypad. :(
oof guess this custom shiz ain't for me
looks cool doe ill probs have to buy a normal keyboard if I ever want upgrade
Keychron K4 (Version 2) Wireless Mechanical Keyboard. 96% Layout but Compact. Wireless or Wired. Bluetooth 5.1. For Mac and Windows. Optical or Gateron Switches. Connect up to 3 devices. Inclined bottom frame. 15+ RGB Backlight. Dedicated caps lock indicator light.
There
hmmm
it's nordic iso
yo big pog
Not quite full size but still a numpad
And I think you can get it hot swappable but not sure about it
hmmm
No idea
I found it in the guy with secksy keyboard video
oh I'm stupid this isn't iso Nordic

I might probs just get external numpad and 80%, it just looks stupid doe
but ye rn I need 3070 more lmao
I think you need the viper ultimate in quartz
im planning on making a custom build with an nk65 soon, does anyone have experience with nk blueberries? i have used creams and my personal board has silk yellows, i'd like to try a nice tactile switch next
