oooo i like those

verbal canopy
#

you can grab some lube from that site too

steady hatch
#

ill need to find them in the uk thanks for the help

verbal canopy
#

Oh UK

#

Look up the vendors in the Europe category
https://www.mechmap.tech/

delicate python
#

i moved a few keys around on my keyboard since it didn’t have volume keys and there were a few i don’t use, does this seem like a good layout for them?

#

i feel like somethings off about it but i don’t know what and i think it might just be because i’m more used to the older layout

#

also i'm gonna use powertoys to remap them in software

misty crypt
#

i mean, whatever works for you

#

changing keys is just a personal preference thing

potent void
delicate python
#

that might be what i thought was off

misty crypt
#

was thinking about which keys i'd want to have in my GMMK Pro build and i think i'll wind up with what they show on their site, just with a delete key instead of an insert key

#

was finally able to complete my order for one a week ago

#

and now i'm hoping it arrives before wednesday because a newly-debuted vtuber i'm subbed to is gonna be having a keyboard review then

delicate python
#

ok i changed it up a bit and i’m thinking of also replacing the end key since i don’t use that either but for now this is what it is

#

im probably gonna make the end key a dedicated FL studio button or something since I use FL a lot for music

potent void
#

i dont know anyone who uses the end button so go ahead

ashen oriole
#

alota games use it xD

worldly shale

does anyone know if there are any electrocapacitive keyboards out there that aren't just from topre whoa i am not paying 350$ for a realforce

#

Just wanted to ask if anyone knows a good 3d printing shop in India

#

if you do, @ me or maybe dm? catwoa

#

I want to make an ergo split keyboard and I want to 3d print the case

#

the cheaper the better

little otter
loud narwhal
#

Does anybody know a good 100% keyboard with switches like cherry red/brown for under 80$?

little otter
#

You can try r/mechmarket to see if you can get deals but to get a fully pre-built board I'd say 100$ is the minimum. Check out Drop. They have some cheap ones.

boreal rivet
#

hardwareswap is better for prebuilts

loud narwhal
little otter
#

As far as I know, yes. You're free to check the mechmarket subreddit and hardwareswap mentioned above to see if you can get a deal tho. You might get lucky with discounts.

#

Although it will most likely be offset by shipping.

#

Wait ... if you're talking about regular ass keyboards then sure you can get them for a lot cheaper than 80. But pre-built keebs made for the custom keeb market are at least 100+

loud narwhal
little otter
loud narwhal
little otter
#

Its a great beginner friendly choice. Make sure to choose the switches wisely lest you end up hating them on arrival 🙂

heavy maple
#

that's why I'm trying to 3d print the case and going for a hardwire dactyle 4x6

#

something like this but one more column

loud narwhal
heavy maple
#

hmm

#

then i think the drop enter is the best one right now catwoa

#

but it is a tkl

#

so you want the numpad that much?

#

Also what kind of switches do you want? if you don't really know maybe start by looking for what purpose you're looking for a keayboard?

unkempt dome
# steady hatch Boba gum silent linear 62g or durock linear

Yeah it's really hard to choose there ... never tried any of those and I'm also debating which one I should get in their tactile switches ... most likely will go for boba ...

Also if you have a hot swappable board you can just buy the other set in the future and swap it in to try it out then sell the one you don't like

steady hatch
#

the k4 an k6 were unavailable so i just got that one

unkempt dome
#

Sadly when you are in the part of pinpointing the last details it's often try and feel yourself ...

#

Cause I guess those 2 switches you're thinking about are more or less the same ...

#

With really small differences between them

steady hatch
#

i like the feel of mx reds

#

i want some smooth ones that are good for gaming and typing essays

unkempt dome
#

But mx red aren't silent tho

steady hatch
#

ik

unkempt dome
#

Well from what I got yesterday from the chat we had for my tactile choice, boba would be smoother than durock out of the box

#

You can always lube them eventually tho ...

#

But it's a tedious job

steady hatch
#

i dont mind

#

the only part is that i need 87 swtiches and they only sell 108

#

or 70

#

ill defo buy them but first i need to get the keeb

unkempt dome
#

I always buy for about 110 switches ... in case I ever want to populate a bigger board or have spares or make a custom macro pad or something like that

steady hatch
#

i cant find anyone in the uk selling these switches

tall karma
tall karma
#

Yup

steady hatch
#

out of stock amazing

#

i can only find cherry

steady hatch
#

these not pandas

unkempt dome
#

I have no idea how the kailh pro lineup is ... never had them and I kinda never heard anything about them ...

unkempt dome
#

you can look for gateron silent switches too ... heard they are good ...

steady hatch
#

im getting reds by default but i want something nicer

unkempt dome
#

gateron silent red maybe

steady hatch
#

should i just order from aliexpress ?

unkempt dome
#

I will be ordering from ali express

steady hatch
#

btw do i need the rgb edition

#

or which one for the k8 keychron

unkempt dome
#

any will fit in ... the rgb edition will let the light of the led pass through ... the non rgb edition will most likely block the light ... so if your keychron have rgb I would buy the rgb edition switches ...

steady hatch
#

oh ok thanks for the help

unkempt dome
#

hope I'm not wrong on that one tho ... 😉

#

maybe others will be able to confirm

unkempt dome
heavy maple
#

does anyone know where I can find a good TRRS jack?

#

the 3.5mm Jack

#

catwoa need it for the split keyboard

steady hatch
#

oh btw if anyone is going to buy the k4 or k6 it will restock on the 20th or by the end of may thats what they said

#

thanks ill check that out

#

do you know if keychron is the only brand doing mac and pc support ?

#

btw would you personally buy a keychron keeb ?

little otter
#

All custom keebs support both platforms right?

steady hatch
#

im getting the k6 or k4 which ever comes available first

#

they support all but they dont have the right keys for it sometimes or the layout

little otter
#

I have a corsair keyboard which does not advertise mac support but I can still use it. Sure I dont have the mac keyset but you get used to it

#

^ Exactly

steady hatch
#

i only found some on aliexpress

#

oh yeah i used that for the aliexpress link

unkempt dome
steady hatch
#

what keyboard do you have now ?

#

oh

silver fable
#

it's just that by default keychron doesn't do a wonderful job of lubing them (if at all)

#

basically pop the switch and put it in the spring and the sides of the switch

#

if that's what you were asking

#

it's up to you though, i just wanted to reduce the horrible sound that it makes stock

#

just like you said about yellows.... i might replace them with lubed/filmed ones xd

steady hatch
#

what do you think of this one ?

#

is there something better for the price ?

unkempt dome
#

I would go gateron switches if you buy the durgod

#

Also a review of the keychron k8

crude echo
#

Is it worth going from gateron blue to kailh box whites?

crude echo
#

Thanks!

versed cloak
#

Question: Do you perfer ergonomics or looks?

little otter
#

Its 50/50. A board has to feel good in my hands but if it looks like shit, I'll pass. If a board looks fricking amazing but feels like shit, I'll pass again.

But yeah all keyboard will gather shit whether you like it or not

pallid trout
#

You mean a low-profile keyboard? It may be a little easier to clean but as everyone has mentioned, you will inevitably have to wipe off or vacuum up all the dirt and hair and all that regardless.

worldly shale
austere jacinth
#

is it worth to go for Hyperx alloy origins red , it will have hyperx's own red switches ?

give your opinions please

#

i heard those red switches are similar to gateron red

worldly shale
#

hyperx has good boards but if you're just going for the switches you're probably better off with a cheaper board without all the gaming marketing attached

austere jacinth
#

the thing is availability is limited in India

#

that board with red switches is costing me 135 USD in India

worldly shale
#

no chinese retailers?

ashen oriole
#

nope

worldly shale
#

or any cheapo keyboard retailers in general

ashen oriole
#

if we want mech, not cheap

#

thats the issue

austere jacinth
#

NGL , there is

ashen oriole
#

usually gaming brands are the cheapest for mech boards

#

never anything hotswap

austere jacinth
#

but i used all those chinsese ones

#

pretty good at their price

#

they have Kalih blue or kalih grey

worldly shale
#

i find them to be more overpriced most of the time but if they're what's available what hyperx offers are good

#

if you can find keychron or gamakay boards, those are also pretty good

austere jacinth
austere jacinth
ashen oriole
#

save up for a gmmk on mkeys

#

they got good boards

austere jacinth
#

i was going for Logitech g512 , it has the same kalih brown , so meh

worldly shale
#

love the looks of logitech boards tbh

#

expensive here though 🏃

#

kailh browns just not worth it

austere jacinth
#

thinking of going for GK64 or GK61 , they seems to be worth it

#

6399 for gateron blue

ashen oriole
#

i wanted a numpad and could only find the gmmk pre built

#

big oof

austere jacinth
#

i dont really need a numpad , or i can get a separate numpad for like 10 USD later

worldly shale
austere jacinth
#

Now the question is how long will it take to deliver in India

worldly shale
#

gk64 with stabs+ foam modded is good

#

are you buying from china?

austere jacinth
#

this website

#

have to check their privacy policy

#

BRB

worldly shale
#

usually over here they take a week or so

austere jacinth
#

if its same here , then its ok

#

i contacted their support , waiting for their reply

ashen oriole
#

its an indian site

#

should be a week or so

austere jacinth
#

lets hope its not a scammer site then

ashen oriole
#

lmao

austere jacinth
austere jacinth
#

"KAHIL"

#

"bule"

ashen oriole
#

bruh

#

i cant even

austere jacinth
#

no , that keyboard has kalih blue switches

that indian guy says "Kahil bule switches"

#

not even kailh box switches , jeez

#

we indians really have a way with English

stuck raven
boreal rivet
#

there is nothing wrong with opticals

stuck raven
#

wrong

#

you cant upgrade

austere jacinth
stuck raven
#

i got the gk61x pcb kit

boreal rivet
#

for most people the gat optical prebuilts are more than they will ever need

stuck raven
#

then i just got keycaps and gateron blacks

#

and just lubed them

austere jacinth
#

i see

boreal rivet
#

not to mention theyre very good switches anyway

austere jacinth
#

i am getting gateron blue

stuck raven
#

blues are way too loud

austere jacinth
#

which should make enough sound to annoy my neighbours

stuck raven
#

i had blues and they were hard to use

austere jacinth
#

best choice for me then

stuck raven
#

now that i have lubed blacks

boreal rivet
#

itll annoy your family at best

stuck raven
#

its hard to change back to really any keyboards

boreal rivet
#

box clickies if you want as loud as possible

austere jacinth
stuck raven
#

i heard yellows are also good

austere jacinth
#

really ?

stuck raven
#

linear with a good spring weight

austere jacinth
#

should i then ?

stuck raven
#

smooth

#

well it really comes down to preference

austere jacinth
#

should i ?

stuck raven
#

what are all the options

#

i cant tell what colours the middle 2 are

austere jacinth
austere jacinth
stuck raven
#

oh you want the sound

#

blues have that signature clicky clacky sound

#

listen to sound tests on youtube

austere jacinth
#

thats all i want

stuck raven
#

lmao then go for it

#

just dont lube blues

#

thats a no no

austere jacinth
#

i do not

#

i dont lube anywhere osuvo_smile

stuck raven
#

the gk61 and gk64 stabs are trash

#

maybe lube that if you want a slightly better sound

#

or just get cherry plate mounted stabs

#

and use those instead

austere jacinth
#

i just want anything good under 9000 Indian ruppees

stuck raven
#

yelllow good

#

noice colour

#

very bright

austere jacinth
stuck raven
#

very yummy indeed

#

i wanna film mine but i have no money lol

#

idk i just use krytox 205g0

#

lmao parents say no

#

also shipping to canada is like 30 bucks

#

i got an entire kit of lube a switch opener, tweezers, 2 paint brushes, switch station, stem holder for 30 bucks

#

which is the same price as the exact same amount of lube

austere jacinth

can i get the pringles ?

eternal wraith
#

how do mx clear rgbs sound in comparison to standard mx clears?

pallid trout
#

The only difference is the top housing.

eternal wraith
#

even a minor difference

pallid trout
#

I wouldn't see why it won't be, but I can't really find anything.

#

For someone as relatively large as Cherry I'd expect them to be cost-efficient. Which means using the same materials.

worldly shale
#

cherry doesn't have much variation in their switches, they're probably going to sound the same

eternal wraith
#

prolly.

worldly shale
#

you could get a tester and compare the two but probably not worth it

#

still pissed at cherry for making a perfectly fine tactile switch and making it heavy as hell linuth

eternal wraith
#

or would any lighter spring work

worldly shale
#

lighter springs work better yes

eternal wraith
#

since im planning to get some for a gmmk pro build.

#

not that you care

worldly shale
#

sounds fun, wish gmmk pros weren't do expensive here

#

you can usually just pick out any lighter spring from cherries and use them to make ergo clears

#

although at that point i would be lazy and just buy akko blues, hate opening up switches with a passion

eternal wraith
#

never heard of those lmao

#

i am a fuckin switch noob

#

but aite

worldly shale
#

akko switches are pretty new

eternal wraith
#

well, ok

#

spring swappin for a gmmk pro build

#

ye

#

not really!

#

i'm gonna use nk cream springs!

#

lmoa

#

3204? and 105 for springs maybe

#

then again ive never tried 3204

#

nah ive already got gpl 105

#

and budget isnt a massive concern

#

yeah

#

tf is that lol

#

oki

#

huh, interesting

#

well tysm rubbishly

#

ill def save that for future reference

austere jacinth

I never used an optical one btw

shy schooner
#

Anyone has a suggestion on 60% keyboards?

austere jacinth
#

wdym can't upgrade ?

#

it is hot swappabled , we can lube and o-ring it

shy schooner
#

I see

austere jacinth
#

ah i see , good point

boreal rivet
#

what are you going to upgrade to anyway?

#

why upgrade if you'll be happy with it

#

are you prepared to spend atleast a 150 for a aluminum case if you want to "upgrade"?

austere jacinth
#

i dont think i will use it for long term anyway as i am a psycho but will go with mechanical anyway cause opticals are out of stock

austere jacinth
#

opticals were cheaper at my case BocchiHyperCry

boreal rivet
#

because metal = quality to most people

austere jacinth
boreal rivet
#

you buy opticals for how smooth they are

#

and in his case they are also cheaper

#

.

austere jacinth
#

am gonna buy a board with blue switches and a pack of gateron yellow mechanical just to get the fell

boreal rivet
#

if you aren't going to use it for long then why are you buying gat yellows?

#

will you buy a custom case?

austere jacinth
austere jacinth
boreal rivet

you need to go see a therapist if you regularly destroy keyboards because of your temper.

unkempt dome

Yellow are quite smooth but the spring is way too light for me ...

austere jacinth

its a lot lot expensive

unkempt dome
#

Indeed

austere jacinth
#

its madafaka India , lemme show u

#

Nvm , its not even available now

a pack of 10 yellow gaterons are 4$

boreal rivet

india does have very high markup on electronics

ashen oriole
boreal rivet

uh huh

austere jacinth
ashen oriole
#

im in mumbai too lol

#

no point complaining

austere jacinth
ashen oriole
austere jacinth
#

ikr

#

but the thing is i still didnt get a solid point against optical

#

i would have gone for optical if it was available

grizzled ruin
#

Hey Guys i would like a good recommendation for a good value rgb mecanical Keyboard which i would put infront of a Laptop

#

use it stock

chrome raft
grizzled ruin
#

I would like a qwertz german layout

#

and my max ist short above 100 dololas

#

I dont need a numblock but i also dont mind if it is there but i would prefer without

boreal rivet
#

he means layout

#

as in size

grizzled ruin
#

Oh i guess an 80 percent keyboard

boreal rivet
#

tkl? fullsize?

#

tkl then

grizzled ruin
#

i dont mind if it has red or brown switches

#

i just dont like blues

chrome raft
grizzled ruin
#

ok Iam gonna lock at the keychron k8

potent void
#

i use blues but i dont like them

boreal rivet
#

keychron does not offer qwertz i would assume

potent void
#

they only offer gateron switches

boreal rivet
#

unless he wouldnt mind just regular qwerty

potent void
#

oh wait you mean a layout

boreal rivet
#

qwertz as in keymap lol

potent void
#

sorry lol

chrome raft
#

oh id didnt know this was a thing

#

wondering if the Logitech g910 is wroth 100$ or if i should just spend the money on a new keyboard and mouse

im not a big fan of their keyboards so they're okay at best

chrome raft
boreal rivet
#

uh ok

potent void
#

(dont mind them they do this a lot)

boreal rivet
#

and did i make fun of iso enter?

chrome raft
#

id like a good mechanical keyboard with some dials/buttons for volume and some nice RGB

valid cypress
#

Built a KBD MAJA this weekend.

boreal rivet

I've used both iso and ansi, I don't care for one over the other.

chrome raft
#

...yes but with keyboards

potent void
#

that is a keyboard

#

without the key

chrome raft
#

with the keys

boreal rivet
#

you just need to pay more for switches and keycaps 🙂

potent void
#

yes

chrome raft
#

im not doing that i just want one right out of the box

potent void
#

what about a steel series keyboard?

#

its got the wheel and a screen

chrome raft
#

oh pretty

#

is it mechanical? i like the clicking

potent void
#

my brother has this, i dont like the blues but it has red and browns

#

blues are too clacky

chrome raft
#

long as it has purple

potent void
#

it has everything

chrome raft
#

ok i mean i want to change it all to purple XD

potent void
#

you can get a cheaper one without the numpad if you want

#

red switch variant in TKL

#

i believe this is the exact keyboard my brother has

boreal rivet
#

wow font looks nice actually

chrome raft
potent void
#

id personally go for reds

#

they're my favorite cherry switch ive used

#

i almost like blues

boreal rivet
#

you should try the enthusiast switches, you'll hate gaming companies and cherry for ripping you off lol

potent void
#

id be happy to try other switches at some point

chrome raft
#

it all depends on the price lol
any mouse?
im looking at the 502 wireless

boreal rivet
#

i'd advise against going too deep unless you don't interact with the community

#

not worth the waste of time and braincells

potent void
chrome raft
#

whats that?

potent void
#

a mouse

boreal rivet
#

g900s go for dummy cheap nowadays

#

used anyway

potent void
#

im trying to be a mouse, but im dummy cheap, and the click of my left button keeps alerting the buyers

chrome raft
#

can it wirelessly recharge? like i want to get that charging pad

potent void
#

nah

boreal rivet
#

yes those come with the module if im not wrong

potent void
#

oh wait those

#

then maybe

#

it lasts a long time tho if you turn the rgb off

#

lasts like 50 hours

boreal rivet
#

oh g900 doesnt have powerplay

#

the g903 refresh does

chrome raft
#

yeah but i want the hero 502 because it can charge wirelessly and the batterly life

boreal rivet
#

so can the g903.

#

your choice

potent void
#

then sure go ahead, but you're going to need the special pad probably

boreal rivet
#

the mousepad yea

chrome raft
#

yeah thats what im planning on getting

potent void
#

thats an extra $120. its cool but it seems easier to just plug it in at night or something

chrome raft
#

nooo

#

@chrome raft
I you like the feling of knowing you pressed the key: Mx Blue.
If you got a wife: Mx red.

boreal rivet
#

irrelevant all unsilenced mx style switches are loud.

#

its just which is louder than the other.

potent void
#

they're all loud

#

browns might be the quietest

#

however this also does depend on your keyboard too

chrome raft
#

I got the Corsair Gaming Strafe RGB MX SILENT & I absolut hate typing on it

boreal rivet
#

if they don't have silencing, they will all be about the same loudness

with the exception of the shit jacket of course
