Gateron are cheap asf lol
But yeah he wanted 100% so don’t really know any good ones
Apart from leopold
But out of budget
uh huh

theres gamakay k87 on aliexpress
if youre fine with aliexpress
He asked for full size
oh
keychron then?
not really in my experience
if you lubed your switch and its quieter than stock, sounds like you overlube your switches
if you want more silent sound profile, get silent switches
can u suggest silent tactile switches?
whats your budget, how much switch do you need, where are you from, what type of switch do you prefer?
my budget is around 60$ , I prefer tactile , I currently have outemu blues , region: india
problem with blues is that they are too loud
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yWQdeph9zc8
you want this level of silent?
See full build & review vid : https://youtu.be/z8H233BUGgY
Just wanted to quickly share some typing sounds from the Skog Reboot I built , with Seriko silent linear switches (THANKS KOD)
Skog Reboot (sorry GB closed) : https://percent.studio/products/skog-reboot
The switches : https://zambumon.com/portfolio/seriko/

so you want tactile switches?
yes
https://rectangles.store/collections/switches
take a look
i recommend u4t or durock t1
Okay thanks I'll have a look
Are those dongles that make your keyboard Bluetooth any good?
I would hope so! Have you tried one personally? I wonder what the battery and latency is like. I’ve always had latency issues with Bluetooth headphones so I can’t game with them
Does anybody know a good 100% keyboard possibly with red switches and with a driver for macros and stuff?
For under 80$
hexgears gk705?
idk just similar to cherry red yea
Congrats
ayo, what to do when a stabilizer comes off on accident
lets say the right one on the enter key comes off, and when tried to insert back in, becomes uneven
is a screwdriver needed
also
is your keyboard hotswap?
i believe plate?
or
well, I did see a wire under, with something orange that could be the pcb itself
i'm not very informed in this field
yeah hold on, just gotta work on something real quick
and you need to rebalance it
thats some heavy bent wire
your keeb is hotswapable?
it is a plate mount
looks like either gateron plate mount or durock plate mount

anyways, I want to do a little somethin',
what's the worse keyboard you've ever used?
like, with those clicky things
sony vaio e series laptop keyboard
really short travel distance and greasy caps
my old compaq has better key feel imo
The old ipad keyboard case
really old Dell office keyboard
apex pro

is the redragon k551 mitra RGB a good keyboard
what do you think about hyperx alloy elite 2
Apple’s magic keyboard
recommend me a 20+ dollar mechanical keyboard
uuuuh
nothing good tbh lol
either save money or get a k120 while you save for a better keb
ah ok ty
something that is more than $20 or something that is $20? because $20 mechs don't really exist lol
chromebook keyboard, no contest
more than 20 dollars 30 or 40 maybe
i used a random chinese mechanical keyboard from gamestop for a while that had outemu blues in it
it was okay
o
personally i would save up more for something that is going to last longer with real cherry switches, but i'm sort of a keyboard snob
hotswap switch gang
Heyy keyboard talk!
it don't matter if you switches last like six months when you can switch ur switches
Alpacas 🦙 good lineae switch
switches dont last 6 months

Lol
nerd
No everyone
whats a nice tkl keyboard for like 150 usd looking for something like a ducky one 2 mini but also something i can mod myself
RK84?
That's the only keyboard I have experience with but the software is ass.
Everything else is nice for the price.
Cherry green?
hmm it looks too tall ill have a better look at it
Aight.
K87
i want a black one can only find white
Oh. Those are clicky switches.
Meaning you probably shouldn't lube them. But I'm sure there's a way I don't know.
actually garbage
well then
btw i want some nice quiet switches i currently have mx blues which are super annoying any recommendations >
?
cant find a black one
If you want some really quiet switches there's also the Kailh Box Silent Pinks
Couple that with a polycarbonate case.
Experimental case foam mod for keychron
Should i get a keychron k6 with rgb and hotswap reds? im going to be using it with mac as and all around so like gaming and productivity and the like. I also would like recommendations on white keycaps lol
It's hard to go wrong with keychron boards, if you like it and want a board that offers upgrade options switch-wise, it's an excellent option
And in terms of white keycaps, if you have a decent budget, Pimpmykeyboard (signature plastics) is a great source of high quality PBT keycaps in various profiles, very visually appealing fonts, and iirc they have mac modifiers as well
their keycaps are pricy but not GMK pricy, and they're extremely high quality caps
On the other discussion, I wanted ultra smooth and fairly quiet (more just a bassier sound so it wouldn't bleed though game audio) for my upcoming build, the switches I ended up going with ThicThock marshmallow switches
I've had them in their little baggy since buying them 4 months ago and I've just been WAITING for this group buy on my chassis to finally ship
how expensive are those?
Alphas + modifiers will run you between $80 - $100 for a set for a full board, which I realize might seem a bit silly considering that's equal to the cost of the board lol
Get the latest and greatest keysets for your mechanical keyboard! Submit your own designs and vote for your favorites
For cheaper keycaps I'd honestly just look on amazon or kbdfans
There's an abundant amount of different white keycap sets you could pick up 😄
I generally would advise to go for PBT, they don't wear out as easily as ABS, and you can still get high quality PBT keycap sets for $25 - $35
thats why i was asking for white keycaps the k6 comes with abs caps and I dont like the sound lol
yee if you want good keycaps and don't mind the budget, I 100% can vouch for PMK
They're my #1 go-to for keycaps
Bit expensive but they're thick PBT caps that I trust the quality of, and contribute to a nice sounding board
oooh those snow caps look c l e a n
The Keychron boards won't sound stellar either way because of their construction, the keycaps will make a difference but I don't think it would be like out of this world night and day
100% dude
I dig em
I'm thinking of getting a set of snow keycaps with the katakana legend on them myself
👀
oooh that sounds nice lol
I mean hell
IF you're a touch typist
you could get blank DSA keycaps from them too
it's what I did for my last custom build
looks super clean
but ofc you need to know your keyboards inside out to do that
😎 You got this my dude
thanks for the motivation lol
cheaper than gb running caps from the same fab
i like em
You also have access to almost all of their colors, and you can buy individual caps, so if you had the budget you could get a fully customized HQ set
Does anyone know where else I can get customized front-print caps? Maxkeyboards has them but their custom options are ABS so eventually they'll start to oil up.
PBT for life
You'll see shine on both pbt and abs keycaps eventually. High-quality abs caps can have cleaner-looking prints, and decent double shot caps can last you quite a while.
Dont ABS shine after a few months while PBT take significantly longer to shine?
Case-dependant.
For me, nope. Even using low-quality abs caps from razer for over a year constantly, I've seen little to no shine (comparing some of my most and least used caps)
damnit
I'm sure if you're not being a neanderthal with how you type on it you can get the caps to last a long time
🤔 whats the best keyboard and mouse for gaming
no best thing
whats your budget for each part?
uhh im not really sure maybe 200? max
for each part? @rocky scarab
uhh yea as long as its worth it xd
im tryna get them gaming skeels xd
😆 jk but yea if its worth it i dont mind paying 200 max
whats your preferred size, switch type?
O_O whats switch type and by size do you mean the size of the keyboard or mouse?
i have a corsair right now and i like it
which corsair?
jeez
thats out of focus
cant even see
uhhh xd
whats the letters before rgb?
k55
you want a similar key feel to the current board or you want to experience something new?
same as it took some time to get used to this one xd
and you still want the numpad?
🤔 so thats the best keyboard for me to get
Someone pin this please. It's a very elegant and simple visual description of nearly every keyboard layout there is.
got a dif type i dont all thr white color the them rbg colors wont match and will look weird
led not rpg my bad
might as well just pin the keyboard university site altogether
any clue how to fix my backspace button because it needs to be pressed a little bit harder than the other keys
i have a logitech g310
Noice!
Good keeb?
Im new to keebs and I was recommended this in a different server
Pre lubes switches and hot swap
Im getting gat yellows
Yes
Ehhh
Its not gonna have pre lubed switches tbh
Whats your budget?
Also you want the 60% layout?
Like I need one that feels nice and is decenly quiet and dosent really need anything done to it
Because parents dont let you do cool stuff like making keebs
thats very hard to find in prebuilts
and im sure you dont want to disassemble anything
Dead silent like this or?https://youtu.be/yWQdeph9zc8

so just buy it you wont have any problems with it unless you look for them
If not then kemove snowfox
Like not blues
Then im good
you're good.
Yea
Tho the snowfox has better build quality imo
Thats my pick
Well you can do wired mode when you want low latency
And wireless for portability
Holy crap that looks nice and it has all the accessories thanks!
Now I need to just get a job
School sucks
You cant work if you have school
thats so overpricedd
well im going snowfox now
you're buying a repackaged product
lmao
Smarter Shopping, Better Living! Aliexpress.com
buy straight from the source
stop paying double
snowfox is a gk61 pcb
lmao
cheap chinese board
if you want to flex go buy a keycult
Are there keyboards with better value than the corsair k95?
how expensive?
also i need all the included stuff
like keycap puller and switch puller
you should do your own research if you want to flex with an expensive keyboard
anything you buy on amazon is chinese dropshipped crap
especially DK61 or GK61 boards
they're ok boards but no where near "expensive to flex"
lmao
lol
and its hotswap which will be niced bc idk what switches i like
lmao
im 14 and dont have a job
i cant do that
just want a nice keeb
and i have a reddragon with blues so low standards
god same
i have a redragon with blues too
only reason I bought that other keeb was because it was $20 and had browns
like sure, they look super cool
but
too expensive
aliexpress my best friend
For the same price you can get the same board with an alu case
I mean yeah but you're waiting like a billion years.
That $40 USD is basically shipping and keeping it stocked here lol.
Whether that $40 USD is worth waiting a week than 5-10 is up to you.
5-10?
I get stuff from ali all the time take 1 to 2 weeks
at most
with standart shipping
I've never gotten stuff delivered to me from China in less than three months.
It's painful.
lol noob
sounds like a you problem
you're unlucky then
thinking of getting a gk87 when drop gets them back in stock for the next "drop"
it's an ok board
kewl
I have a gk61 but looking to upgrado a kbd67 mk2
i just want the hotswap
if you know how to solder you can get millmax sockets
Then they're just consistently bad everywhere else then.
I've gotten switch films, a Durock T1, two switch testers, two pieces of fan merch, a Bluetooth adapter, and all of them came in three months or more.
and then you make it hotswap
yeah i dont have 160 usd for a case
Good thing none of them got hit with import tax.
damn
when I order from kbdfans ali store it takes 1 week
are those glorious pandas at the top
why you gotta be judgemental of everything
they are very popular and i hear good things about them often so yeah probably a good buy
ok
looks good
Wow that looks nice. What keyboard? Also is that a mini xlr jack?
Tyty! Its just a regular usb-c port
Its the KBDFans D60
WKL
okeg nerd
We’re all nerds here, do you really think that insults us lol
it wasn’t an insult
I thought he said “okay nerd”
who is awesomo
your mom
i only know “canceledsomo132” and “furrysomo132”
I knew by looking at your status you would be like this
ok and?
that i respond to my friends with jokes?
whats wrong with that
Looked like you two were fighting
alrighty then continue with your business
uhm just a question
how quick does a mech kb start to feel different then when it was new?
what do you mean
you mean when it stops working?
no-

over time the switches may "break-in" which can change the feel, this affects different switches differently
did you know that kbdfans is going to restock UC
nk creams for example, after about 10,000 presses or so, they will reduce the scratchiness they are known for
well, ive bought a mech kb like, 2-3weeks ago, but it feels different then at the start. it also seems to miss keypresses which it didnt do before..
when r3
2 weeks is about the time break-in happens
(i mean it could be also just me be way too tired but ehh....
hm.. well i mean.. not to sure how to feel about the break in.. its way smoother now, but also lost a pretty insane amount of tactility if writing..
(just for context, im using the mx browns, since i actually like the roughness and the slight bump.
(tho I'm prolly just tired, so whatever
im just asking whats the point of a 40% keyboard
no numbers
layers.
there is no nothing.
Its all layers.
you don't need to move your hand for the buttons with layers on a 40
creates keayboard with 1 key but 90 layers
for physical buttons moving your hand around on the keyboard is physically slower
the 1% keyboard
Some people like the look of it.
Others like the efficiency and embrace the "no distractions" philosophy.
But you know how it is.
It's all about

i didnt know it had layers lmfao
is the second spacebar the activator
That too.
Also, it can be if you want to.
stealing that

It's a macro pad.
TaehaTypes baybeeee

that is wacky
wait a sec you use ur mouse as your keyboard
That one looks more like it.
Also, I don't, but you can if you wanted to.
The thing that makes it possible is the fact that you can assign button combinations.
With 14 button actions, plus five buttons with analog-like deep clicks, gyro controls, and the ability to assign mouse movements to keyboard keys...
Yeah, you get the picture.
You're only really limited by the amount of memory you have on the mouse.
seems wacky as hell
It feels a little strange having the click buttons lower than the body but it's nothing too strange.
What's weird is that it's 5g lighter than a G502 lol.
And just 2g heavier than the G502 Lightspeed.
You'd think a mouse with more buttons, haptic feedback, an OLED display, and gyro controls would be much heavier
It comes with a bottom plate specifically designed to mimic a flight stick so you can play sim racing or fighter jet games with it.
how much did it cost?
It has an MSRP of $200 but I got mine used for around $100.
It's a four-year old mouse at this point.
pretty fair price i'd say
I saw this rk68 on amazon for around $60, with coupons bringing it to 55 or so
has 5pin hot swap, 2.4 dongle, and a removeable frame
i think they come in gateron or outemu red, browns, and blues
they come in ttc switches
its fine
Talking about mice in keyboards chat
i mean its close to peripherals
and theres no general peripherals chat
wouldn't it be peripherals chat if u could talk about mice and keyboards
Has anyoe tried the Everglide water/aqua king switches?
Im wondering how tactile it is compared to the durock koalas
have you looked for force curves of the switch online?
No force curve but here's a review of the water king switches. There's a section where they compare them to other linears.
https://www.theremingoat.com/blog/everglide-v3-water-king-switch-review
Coming to the end of year one of the website and year two of collecting, it’s not often that I am caught off guard by how good or how bad switches turn out. That being said, these switches from Everglide - one of handfuls they’ve released since 2019 - definitely did surprise me. The real question wa
you're welcome
<33
force curve for the water king
Nice!
and thats a linear
so koalas will be 100% more tactile?
its a linear so koala will be more tactile?
or there is a tactile water king?

im actually
what's jwk?
a switch fab
gotcha, thanks
if its a new switch thats coming out and its not by Gateron or Kailh or Outemu, then its JWK
other than Cherry of course
hey guys I'm working with a Yamaha P-125 and an external speaker, but when I set the speaker setting on the keyboard to auto it doesn't automatically turn off the internal keyboard speaker, and only sends signal to the external speaker occasionally. anyone faced a similar problem?
wait is this a channel for typing keyboards?
#audio-tech perhaps
might be a bad switch but i dont think you can hotswap on a g310
oof its the romer g
you can buy them off aliexpress
im pretty sure i can but want to make sure. I can use these on a gateron red switch right?https://kbdfans.com/collections/oem-profile/products/white-backlit-translucent-keycap-143-keys
Specification: 1. Item: Keycaps2. Color: Milky White ( lower half ) + White( top half )3. Material: PBT4. Caps Amount: 144 keys 5. Profile: OEM Profile6. @willow heart yes
ok thanks
Are there any 60% keyboards which are waterproof and affordable? i like spilling my drinks
Or at least water resistant^
weirdchamp
nerdchamp

haha get pinged
@blazing breach so is there anything i could do about it?
Umm its $3.99 a minute
oopps i pinged the wrong person lmao
my bad dude
really sorry about it
@ionic briar is there anything i could do about it?
i have made my mind up i want a 65% with hot swap able swtiches, black stealth and one that i can mod later.
So you want this?
https://novelkeys.xyz/collections/keyboards/products/nk65-v2-aluminum-edition?variant=34917914706087
The NK65™ v2 - Aluminum Edition is a standard 65% layout keyboard with a hotswap PCB. The PCB is VIA compatible with per switch RGB lighting. The switches are south facing. The kit will come with the aluminum case, aluminum plate, PCB, Cherry style plate mount stabilizers - NK_ Branded, and silicone dampening material
dont have the funds for that one and its like 80 usd in duties and tax
Oof. EU proxy is available through Oblotzky Industries.

what are the risks for spray lubing your mechanical keyboard? since i heard it was kinda controversial
i mean using instances like BW-100 spray to lube your switches
does that come with any risks? or is that an ok thing to do
I guess if you do a spray it could get anywhere and into places you don't want the lube to interact, unless you're very careful. This is totally just a guess but depending on the exact lubricant and the type of plastic or other material the key is made of it could e.g. cause discolouration, or like if the letters are printed on maybe it could remove them. These are just really far off guesses though.
But if you're wondering if lubing in general is safe or not... plenty of people have done it without issues, so I think it's fair to say it's generally safe when applied correctly.
Spray lubing is incredibly inconsistent, you might end up with a worse feeling keyboard than you started with
And you can't fix it without desoldering, which if you could desolder in the first place you wouldn't spray lube.
alright thank you for your opinions, though cant i just take out the switches and spray it into them and let them dry for a bit before putting them in the keyboard again?
like so?
i dont really see why that wouldnt work tbh
Some spray lube do not play nicely with electricity.
That's the simplest way to put it.
aha okay
You may not get consistency across the innards of the switch, which is kinda important in ensuring you don't under-lube or over-lube the switch.
Sometimes spray-lubing goes as planned.
Other times, you go buy a new PCB.
yeah alright i understand the problem now, thank you very much for your time
No worries.
i want to modify my Gamakay MK61 but on youtube basically in every video they just spray lube it
they say you dont have to worry because the switches dont have a copper leaf
thats because you can remove the switch out of the pcb
but still, not recommended cause
1: you can use oil based lubricants and that will destroy the plastic
2: as other ppl said, its not consistent
then just lube it normally instead of with spray if you can take the switches out
alright, thank you all so much for giving your opinions
What do you guys consider to be the best clicky switch?
Kailh box jade or navy for a lot of people
I like kailh box white the most but they don't compare in sound to the navy with SA profile keycap
Are the whites a bit more quiet?
Yes a bit
Seems like the better option for me then
How many grams?
Same as cherry blues?
I have the box burnt orange and they are "the same" actuation point weight as the box navy but the box navy feels heavier probably cause of the resistance created by the clickbar
Just thought of a strange and intriguing idea, any ideas on somehow modifying a keyboard to somehow has a sort of something like a small bell inside where it is connected to one key in order to make a ping sound that you hear from a typewriter.
do you think it is possible or too far-fetched?
I would say everything is possible, it just requires time, skills and money
Could be tied to the enter key
modern mx style would be the box clickbars from kailh or outemu phoneix
i mean ppl doing discrete beep boards to achieve that is not uncommon
Didn't know outemu made one with click bar
nope
its a click jacket but has very crisp clicks
unlike other click jackets
discrete beep boards? got an example of what do you mean by that?
one sec
audio is kinda meh tho
Keyboard: IBM Pingmaster
Switches: SKCC Green Alps
Was purchased NIB, completely stock, has the beeper set to around 50-75% loudness.

thats another one
Oh ok ... well it must be one of he best click jacket if it has crisp sound
The switches were assembled entirely stock (no lube anywhere). Therefore, the board is a bit pingy, but I think it adds to the charm.
Yeah that's the best sounding click jacket I've heard
interesting, I wonder how do they do it
can i use Krytox GPL-205 g0 lube for basically everything in a mechanical keyboard? (like the stabilisers, switches itself, etc) or is it recommended to use different kinds of lube for the different parts?
you can
The phoenix is the only good click jacket
Heroinbob designed it after the aristotle click jacket
But with not shit tolerances
alright thank you
u/heroinbob aka gazzew yes
Yes I know
👍
so which tactile switches should I try next ? ... I'm looking for a kinda sharp tactility ... people recommended me durock T1 ... anything else that would have sharp tactility and about 60g to 70g actuation force ... I have the kailh box burnt orange and really like them but the tactility is a bit rounded for me, I would like something sharper
boba u4t's have a bigger bump than T1's, similar 'sharpness', they're both not as sharp as Zeals but better in every other aspect
Moyu Blacks/Everglide Dark Jades are also an option, but could be a little expensive if you don't buy from China directly
the clickbar switches mentioned in the conversation above could be an option too
thanx ... I'm looking for tactile only ... I already have kailh box white and kailh box navy ... and also kailh speed copper
I'll try to look for the boba u4t's
those boba are not that cheap tho ... well I'll consider them
Another recc for the T1 from me.
Even when lubed the tactile bump is massive.
getting this soon : https://www.amazon.com/KEMOVE-Snowfox-Yellow-Pudding-keycaps/dp/B08Z73XXHT/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=snowfox+keyboard&qid=1621090946&sr=8-1
Amazon.com: KEMOVE Snowfox Yellow Switch + White Pudding keycaps 108 Keys - Wireless/Wired RGB Mechanical Gaming Keyboard, Hot Swappable, PBT Keycaps, Full Keys Programmable for MAC/Win: Computers & Accessories
putting the puddings in the middle
Well I would not want to cut the two pins to fit them in the gmmk ... so I would most likely want another hotswappable board in tkl form factor or maybe 65% or 75% ... any recommendation on those ... ?
oh I have the snowfox ... it's quite a nice board ... ... I don't remember if it's 5 pin compatible
Im confused about my keyboard.
I have a cynosa v2, A membrane keyboard
But it has key rollover.
i think it is lemmie check
dosent say
anyway, I would still prefer either tkl or 65% or something like that
pretty sure it is
I'll check that out later ... 😉
yeah tkl is better for me as I like to change my keycaps and I'm never able to remember the secondary layer of a 60% keyboard ... I need the stock keycaps as reference ...
you just gotta wait for GB

but also, Scarlet B Stocks are currently on sale
https://www.makerkeyboards.com/collections/maker/products/scarlet?variant=39767717478550
Designed for enthusiasts by enthusiasts—Scarlet delivers all the features of a flagship keyboard and more. It supports top mount and o-ring gasket mount, the seamless exterior eliminates color mismatch, and the center-aligned USB-C daughterboard allows for a quick and simple repair in the event of any damage. A hotswap
though its a GB, it's expected to deliver around July
I'm not going to wait for a gb that will likely never happen again.
i want maja
just get MGA Standard instead
is this good?
I mean, Scarlet GB is going on right now, its just any potential B Stock board spots are being sold right now. Only minor visual defects are expected
it'll deliver in a few months which is a lot better than other GBs
i am not interested in it
nor do i need to spend money on something like that right now.
What kind of boards are you looking for though?
kingsaver
cos Alps or cos the board itself?
Both.
that is quite a pricy one ... but looks beautiful
believe me thats actually super value for what it is
probably but it's way more than what I would like to pay ...
for sure
it's usd ?
yes
even worst
yup
you get what you pay for though
so 320 $ + import fees which were about 90 when I bought my gpu and shipping
not to mention you'll need to spend another 200+ for your switches and "nice" keycaps
yeah for 400+ I will just custom make one ...
at least nice caps nowadays can be found on Amazon cos Chinese factories copying GMK sets are abundant

for like <50 usd
they have legend problems and warping
some do, some don't
I would like mt3 ones
100 + here for mt3
considering even recent GMK has had some consistency issues, sometimes the Chinese pbt caps have better consistency than even GMK in some aspects
yes gmk is getting away with some stupid bs just because of the hype behind it.
i heard their new machines that they ordered wouldn't be operational until like around September
could you elaborate please i was looking into buying their stuff
still gonna be another year of insane GMK hype and issues
and long long wait times
delays and warping
I think I'll stick with my gmmk for now ... I won't put more money on my keyboard that I use about 2 day/week than what my gpu cost me ....
its better to support things like crp, epbt, jtk etc
theyre chinese but they do good work
hyped for CRP r4 to deliver
would've bought r4 if i didn't like cherry
Cherry goated for me
I do really like SA profile
Cherry angling is just so nice imo,
But i do like spherical dishes too
only have one set tho ...
i couldn't deal with SA R1 angles
currently waiting for deskeys to release their damned mx sliders
so i can use some nicer keycaps on my 87u
can't read shit with the black on black caps
no nitro
so im trying to build my first keyboard this summer
im gonna get a gk61x kit from banggood cuz im on a budget, with akko switches (red rose)
is dieletric grease ok for lube or should i buy kryotox?
From the videos I've seen on youtube, I've mainly seen dielectric grease used on stabilizer wires. Otherwise, Krytox is used on switches and stabilizer housings.
ok thank you
you're welcome
ok thanks
After spilling water on my keyboard, I let it dry etc, and then the "n" key wouldn't work, I cleaned the keybord, like the pcb and case, which fixxed the key a bit, it now registers 9/10 clicks, any way to fix this? Is it the switch, or is this an error on the pcb?
sounds like pcb error
Any way to fix it? or will that be more expesive tha just getting a new one?
not that i know of
Aight thanks
dont spill shit next time
my hand does things i dont have control off lmao
I go for the mouse and it just slaps the cup
And there it goes

im quite clumsy yes
mirroring this in here just cause I'm very happy with this frame
Marshmallow switches
the most pastel
does anyone happen to know a good keyboard with kailh BOX whites? Preferably cheaper than $150
I think you'd be better off getting a good budget hotswappable keyboard and then buying the Box Whites yourself.
Much easier IMHO.
What'd be a good hotswappable then haha
Keychron's keyboards are amazing
For their price
K6 is one I recommend to a lot of people
the hotswap version is $80
ah so you are also aware of keychron
Thanks! I'll take a look
yeah I've known about keychron for a while
a couple people at the office use keychron boards too
oh sweet
i heard about them from marques brownlee and i bought a k2. ive owned it for id say 3 years now
One of the other writers and I bought in to the Marsback M1 kickstarter
very excited for that
The RGB build guide had one of the preproduction models
I think those might be for that version
we had the one with pudding caps

It's much brighter than it looks in that shot
Would you recommend getting the aluminum frame on the keychron k6?
looks like it
Or is that really just preference
That unit we had there was the reason both of us were convinced to buy one
id kind of expect it to be
cause it's a REALLY nice keyboard
my brother got it, and its not as nice as i thought. but if you want some metal on the sides sure. he only got it because it was on sale for the same price as regular
Alluminum frame over plastic anyday
no question
worth the 20$?
the bottom isnt metal though which is strange, just the sides
the alu version is cheaper on amazon if you have prime btw
If it's just the frame then it would be a negligible difference and probably more aesthetic
so maybe not
well let us know what you think when you get it
its just screwed on to the plastic
I can already tell you how it types 👀 Just gotta make sure that the production model matches the preprod
https://youtu.be/YtNROR3cRC8?t=64 its like this
Keychron K6 : https://amzn.to/382xzdJ
Today we unbox, review, and mod a solid budget mechanical keyboard - the Keychron K6. Not bad at all, with hotswap switches, RGB backlighting, and bluetooth wireless capabilities.
Info on lubing / switch films :
kind of a scam lmao
It's built like a tank and sounds awesome, the linear switches we had were very smooth, the RGB is gorgeous and the overall experience is one I'd describe as being sharp but subtle
Always love the 30$ shipping on amazon
It's a very satisfying board to type on
oo alright i like the sound of that
My plan is to use the M1 as my board at the office and my custom build at home
oh it's also wireless
any reviews on snowfox? was told it was good
k2 has the function row im pretty sure thats the only difference
dont quote me lol
I hadn't even heard of the snowfox until you mentioned it
so does that
so unfortunately I can't provide input
oh oof
glarses discord says its good?
this is the same 85 key layout as the keychron k2
Where do you guys buy your keycaps?
keychron to compare
Amazon.com: KEMOVE Snowfox Yellow Switch + White Pudding keycaps 108 Keys - Wireless/Wired RGB Mechanical Gaming Keyboard, Hot Swappable, PBT Keycaps, Full Keys Programmable for MAC/Win: Computers & Accessories
only difference i see if the lightning key
I almost exclusively buy keycaps from PimpMyKeyboard (Signature Plastics)
kbd fans has some rly good caps so does the one jessie said lol
Not because of brand loyalty or anything, I just think they're the best quality for the price
KBDFans is my second go-to
Thanks 🙂
Amazon.com: KEMOVE Snowfox Wireless 60% Mechanical Gaming Keyboard, Bluetooth 5.1 Hot Swappable Keyboard RGB Backlit PBT Keycaps Full Keys Programmable (Gateron Yellow Switch): Computers & Accessories
thats a pretty good deal
without the caps so there are the reviews
what layout do you guys prefer? i like the K2's layout so far
k6 is rly good if you game and stuff but if you use stuff like blender and things that use the function row the k2 is good
i cant live without the function row and arrow keys

i could probably figure a way to get by with it but its easier for me
then yeah k2 probably a better choice so you dont have to hit fn2 all the time lol
both have arrows tho
oh, thats good
65 percent i could probably get by with
Is the keychron palm rest worth adding?
If you like palm rests perhaps
the k2 for me is too high so id suggest using a palm rest
not sure about the k6 or any others
i use a hyperx one i got off amazon
i use the one the cheap "memory foam" one that came bundled with my brothers mouse pad
f
its kinda weird i have prime so i either get free shipping or i get it nearby my house it feels weird paying for shipping now a days
yeah it kind of does
I got mine from MaxKeyboards. Custom colourway, front-print.
You'll have to stick with ABS keys and UV print if you want a custom from them though.
And deal with a premium if the layout you want isn't there. I had to pay around double to get a set made for the GMMK Pro.
But the option is there.
Thanks!
is the ducky miyo pro any good or the durgod Taurus K320 TKL
if there is a better option i can get let me know looking for a tkl or 65% that i can mod to make a nice
looking for something quiet like the mx blacks or something equivalent
I'm really interested in the drevo calibur v1 layout ... it's like a tkl without the F row ...
is there any other keyboard with a similar layout that is hotswappable
also I don't need wireless nor do I need rgb
you are basically looking for something i want
I couldn't live without le hotswap
cause I like changing them once in a while
it's nice to try switch kit
also that yes ...
true that
I have the durgod fusion with cherry brown and those switches are total crap
is cherry not a good swtich?
is kailh better ?
i got mx blues and i hate them super loud and just bad idk what options i cant have
there's a hype about vintage cherry black
I didn't like clicky until I tried kailh box white and kailh box navy
those are godly
So you can swap in your favourite switches and replace damaged ones.
tkl or 65% nice build and silent switches
specially with a good SA profile keycap set
tactile
kailh silent box brown
or Durock T1
what about linear ?
gateron yellow
those are the only linear I tried
oh
damn
kailh silent box pink
oh god
i need a new keeb coz my no.juan key dont work shift and Z dont work (and ducky wont reply.
paid less for my silent box brown than what would cost me for the boba u4t ... checked this morning
i want something i can customise
under 150 usd
i would but dont have the funds and i need a new one
boba, about 0,81
kailh about 0,65
canadian money
k552 i dont like
k552 has outemu switches and hot swap mechanism
i like a clean look
not compatible with every brand
and the ducky miyo pro
sad only cherry
i cant get it in the UK
well the two cherry I tried there's something I like better in other brand so far
brown and blue ...
nothing all sold out
yes I know leopold makes high end keyboards ... well reviewed
keychron k6
can come hotswappable
i dont like the fact that its super thick
as in the keeb
that will be interesting to see
not the keycaps
there
thin
i currently have a ducky one 2 mini and its ok but it broke
also you can always make the thing thinner using dsa profile keycap
idk the keys i said before dont work desoldered them an still nothing
so I have two contender for my next switches ... durock t1 and boba u4t ... which one gets your vote ?
what do you think of the options i said before ?
I missed them ... can you restate them please ..
ducky miya pro and Durgod Taurus K320 TKL
I wanted the taurus for a long time ...
until i tried kailh switches and tasted the hotswappable board
I don't know about the miya pro ...
seems to be a nice build
I guess the taurus with silent red or brown would be good ... or silent black
if you had 150 usd what would you buy ?
the gmmk with boba switches and cool keycaps
don't know if it will be around 150 usd tho
you're in the UK so I think that the gmmk is available at overclocker.com or something like that
@hasty saffron which one would you take ... 62g or 68g ... I have the kailh box burnt orange and they have a nice weight to them ... the kailh box navy are a bit too heavy for my liking ... so based on that which ones would you take in the boba u4t ?
forget about o-rings I would
i want it to be quiet
also the panda are just ok I've heard ... never tried them ... if you want silent switches then look for silenced one with dampers in it ...
o-ring will only silence the downstroke, not the upstroke
cherry silent, kailh silent, aliaz silent ... all have rubber dampers inside the switch that slience the upstroke and downstroke ...
the gmmk isnt usb c right ?
so the boba u4t are 87,60 on aliexpress ...
yeah mico usb
it's a non issue for me ... cause anyway how often do you unplug your keyboard ...
Lmao meanwhile Im here with a normal razer huntsman mini with default keycaps 😎
what ... damn why ...
then stick with usb c ...
or get a magnetic plug
im always on the go
you leave the plug in the keyboard and unplug the with the magnetic part ...
micro usb wear way faster than usb c
gmmk pro has usb c but it's quite more expensive
Should I get some keycaps? 🤔
if you need a change of look
also I don't know if the stock keycaps are abs or pbt
pbt will have a different feel
and sound probably
also a different keycap profile will change the sound of the keyboard
Holy you studied this stuff
and experimented yes
I bought my first mechanical keyboard ... redragon k552 and was quite disappointed with it ... I told myself that the next keyboard it would not be the same ... so I did a lot of research and watched a lot of reviews (for about one or two years) and I finally settled for the gmmk with some kailh speed copper ... was way better than the k552 ... and with it being hotswappable I could try out different kind of switches ...
apart from the gmmk
so for now got a small selection of switches ...
i have watched so many reviews builds and everything and idk what i want toooo many options
well keychron have some hotswappable
kemove also have some but I don't know if they have some tkl
drop have also some but really expensive
I think drevo also have some but don't quote me on that one ...
there's the gk64 which is not tkl ... but maybe could suit you ...
GK64 GK64x RGB Hot Swap Programmable Wired Case PCB Plate Cherry MX Keyboard DIY kit Replacable Space: Amazon.ca: Electronics
but for that one you would have to do more research tho
specially for keycaps
i want linear now i mixed them up
do i get the gmk get like a volta cable
and put boba gum switches in them ?
yeah
its 60 gbp for a gmmk compact
yeah
out of stock great
is the company legit ?
what about key caps?
@hasty saffron can you find another place than aliexpress to buy the boba u4t in Canada? That has a decent price similar to the 87$ all in on aliexpress ?
Kemove a good brand ?
Keychron K3 Ultra-slim Wireless Mechanical Keyboard what are the swtich options for this one ?
apart from the ones they sell
thanx ... on ashkeebs it's around 110 all in all ...
I have the kemove snowfox and it's a great board ...
i think i found what i wanted
the k4 or k2 but idk what switches
and the worst part is they are all out of stock great
oo i might pick a set of these up
anyone able tot recommend the k8 from keychron ?
is the k4 or k2 better ?
i was thinking k8 and the switches you said
then some time later change the key caps
do you think its a good idea ?
yes I think so ....
does it matter which one ?
or is it just what comes standard on it ?
coz there is a option for gaetron and optical
im thinking this setup
is the wrist wrest they have any good ?
this one its apparently wooden
i mean i have been typing without one for years
so no difference
28 $
which one ?
I use the Quartz one from Drop, hard wristrests not that bad tbh
It's not like you're putting weight onto the wristrest part ideally
so what do you think ?
worth the 28 $
the glorious one on the uk is like 37$
It's probably convenient to order it together i guess, get it if you want
Keychrons have a pretty high front height iirc so having any wrist rest is better
now i need to find some nice switches
What kind are you looking for?
i got one which were the ones you liked but idk something silent but with a nice feel
not mx blue
something like mx browns or black
ones that dont wake up people next door
oh and i have like 60 usd for 87 switches
someone else discovered that gif, noice
