it’s cheaper to master the cooling process than making a chemical mixture in this instance
my point is saying that pbt is abs is misleading even with the subcontext of doubleshot keycaps as whole abs keycaps are well, abs and abs + pbt are usually abs for the stem + inner layer and pbt for the outer (the one you touch)
@flat dock pbt and abs polymers are physically incompatible
well, that’s just your opinion, factually what i’m saying is right
i’ve had a lot of those cheap sets, none of them broke
no it isnt
actually, keycaps that broke were from gamer boards
like bloody 820r iirc
the stems cracked
i bought a £10 attack shark pbt set and within 3 days like 8 keys broke
same issue i had
never had another keycap from a different set break btw
well, then buy another one from a different brand
you just got unlucky
there are also people being unlucky with gmk
i dont think luck was involved
you can buy 5-8 sets for a price of a $120 gmk set
the keycaps were just shit
buy from a different brand or a diff model
i try random aliexpress keycaps and all of them have been fine
if i would be picky okay, some of them are slightly warped, about a degree, but i gotta look for it hard
one keycap from all of my sets (A key) wobbles, fixed it by putting some cloth inside the stem hole
minor printing errors that again don’t matter for daily use
letters are still 99.98% intact
i get these defects about 1 in 3 sets
I couldnt really find any sources either way. Layering does make more sense than mixing them in a mixture. So what are they doing, are some sets making the legends in pbt with the rest of the key in abs just to get the marketing keywords?
It doesn't explain why it'd sometimes wear faster than pure abs
if it’s doubleshot with the abs being the inner layer and pbt being outer then the letters tend to be the inner layer (abs) otherwise it’s a doubleshot subdye or something else in the worse case which is then just marketing
we would need someone to test the keycaps in lab conditions
your pbt keycaps can wear faster than abs keycaps just by having around more dust with sweat for example and you rubbing your fingers on the keycaps more
altough i don’t deny manufacturers lying about their keycaps being pbt despite using inferior materials instead (when it comes to durability)
i think the pellets are about on-par with abs prices
abs is cheaper to mold
this honestly goes for any keycaps
like it cant be that expensive to make a set of gmks
it isn’t
exactly
it’s more about paying the artists
an artist was involved in making a basic black set?
btw pbt and abs chemical bonds can weaken from hydrolisys, so it’s not just abrasion and shifting to blame
nah its definitely something because the stock keycaps on my rainy75 shined within a few weeks, I have gmk keycaps on here for about as long and they're still basically new
anyone got a mass spectrometer I can use
plus my friend had some pbtfans keycap set that started shining super fast too so it's apparently not rare
strange
maybe the set has more micro pores that are hard to clean?
@flat dock what did he use to clean the keycaps?
I don't think he cleaned them ever. I didn't clean mine because they weren't even remotely dirty since it was just a few weeks
so it’s just grease
No
he didn’t clean them…
even my keycaps get shine when i touch them with greasy fingers
I don't ever use my keyboard with greasy fingers
i just clean it with ipa and/or water and the shine’s gone
if you use your peripherals for more than few hours you have something called sweat
I don't know, I haven't really ever had a layer of grease build up on keycaps
btw ipa can be damaging to some plastics
what type of ipa
i have cleaned my vxe r1 few times with ipa and i can feel there is less of that rubbery coating and the logo is fading
isopropyl alcohol
It certainly wouldn't be in the span of weeks
Maybe a few years I could see that but it didn't happen on my old keyboards
just try to clean the shine first and then decide whenever it’s permanent or not
pbt doesn’t turn shiny from shifting and abrasion from regular use within a month
that’s a short time even for a really porous/shitty abs plastic
you didint
i never said i did
do as he says not as he does
should've gotten the novelkeys or omnitype sales where you could get gmk cyl for like $60-70
u said "just spend $120 on gmk" ??
lol
where is your agar
yeah
i spent way more back then my friend
cehck out my new keyboard
.
mx black
@charred plank
you too
this one is stock
all i did was spring swap
@worldly garden bad part of steel plate
look how dirty it looks lol
cause it was not rust treated
People use steel on topre ?
it’s oem
on realforce
i think on leopold too
that’s after cleaning
i mean it’s like 15 years of no rust treatment
i think it has held up alright
im not gonna rust treat it though
i dont really care
Purple sliders
😋
Im still looking for my first topre
U got anythings i should try
Merci or xianyu works
But xy preffered
silent realforce and lube it
pretty much endgame silent topre
i mean u can always get a norbaforce or some shit
but it doesn’t get much better idk
Expensive
No i aint buying norby yet
I just s0ent some hard budget on a mx
So
Give me some good starter
@bitter oar i washed the d key on the rainy 75 stock double shot pbt keycaps and theyre still exactly as shiny as before
xianyu i only use for Some boards
i can’t really tell u what boards because idk myself
Is fine
if i think it’d be better on xianyu i go to xianyu
and i can still feel the legend sticking out like before
As i said im starting th8s so any works
Just dont make me do c9mplicated mods
And a fair fair budget like sub100
Design a pcb
Thats not domething i cant do
it actually feels like it got shinier after i used dish soap
i mean u can probably find a cute pro 2 on mercari for sub 100
maybe it's because i'm being critical
Try lubing i
t
moist critical
That keycap is
Is not fancy thing let it be
Mmm DCS
it shines significantly faster than my gmk set
hipro best keycaps
embrace the shine bro
Chinesium
Dont mind my shirt kekw
can't embrace it if it shines so fast it isnt even a sign of love
buy new keycap
id be ok if it shined after like a year of daily use
I’ve never seen shined pbt
well i have
but only on boards used for like 10 years
i'm telling you this has to be like fake pbt or something
krum had that with his pbtfans keycaps as wlel
and pbtfans isnt cheap
report them to the appropriate authorities
look at that d key
the right of the e
this actually does not come across well on sdr wow
that's where fingers rest the most i think
this keyboard has received almost no gaming
my realforce has become the main victim
causesilenced topre is just so good for gaming
noise wise
clacky spacebars are amazing though
as long as not too loud. the outemu pear is too loud and i might need a better spacebar
it distracts me when my keys are too loud lol
idk why but i am really sensitive to distractions
might just be a minecraft pvp thing
i think you have a skill issue
Im not usually i am just really bad if i get distracted
no bro i am actually very good at the game
i mean i would call myself lt3 at least
^ copium
No bro i am never distracted
that is not an excuse for being bad
Buy mtnu for good 0bt
i wanna try mtnu because the profile looks like it'd be pretty comfy
Maybe it's lower quality, more porous idk
@flat dock
"pbt" set from irok mg75
Shows a little bit of shine
the letter S only
even after ipa, water cleaning
Wwhy u rolling it around
so you can see
as someone who has never done it, how easy is it to configure qmk/via for different software
for context, i want to get a macropad to use with the drawing software rebelle
hi im looking to upgrade my monitor i currently have a 1080 240hz monitor don't play fps games as much and i need it to be like 1000 aud or under
Just buy any generic 4k and higher res
Like pro art asus
wym
like have a seperate keymap just for rebelle?
Yeah basically have a separate macro setup for rebelle
so the way i would do it
drop the layout you want to use on a seperate layer
and have a combo to get to that layer
does that make sense?
kind of, i can almost feel my brain growing a neuron trying to bridge the connection
yeah you can do this
how complicated are the macros
u should get a keyboard cover and a hhkb and put the keyboard cover on the thinkpad and the hhkb on top
and be awesome
Seeking hhkb's rn
does bro not have shoes on
is an adiform superstar mule
basically a sandal
wild
also why are the arrows missing
and why is there just some random screwbits there
because im not working with my computer
wacky ass setup
worth more than your a70 tho, lol
sure vro
and i was out for a cup of coffee
@fervent breach https://github.com/ojthetiny/OpenTKL/tree/main
might help you
shouldve called it libtkl
is a redragon m916 pro wireless mouse good? i would buy a g305 again but i cba to wait till saturday for the delivery
Honestly I won't suggest going with either of those. G305 is more reliable but double click issue.
i didnt have any issues with it until i broke my right click
It's not like everyone would face it but it's been quite a known issue which a lot of users have faced
Why not go with Mchose G7
i want a keyboard that’s good for gaming and productivity, preferably 75%, and £150 or less, any recommendations?
bridge75 is alright
or a rainy75 is you can find it £150
rainy75 kinda sucks
it's built like shit, plate way too flexible, you need "malware" to update firmware, not very customizable
bridge75 I have no idea but I've heard people say it's decent
damn atleast put warnings for th*nkpad
dang
all of those are personal preference btw
also i doubt it’s built that terribly
what's malware about the software or firmware?
that it's weird chinese software sent via a support email instead of just a regular firwmare binary that you can flash with qmk cli
ok, what's malware abt that
that's why i said malware in quotes
you don't call software you don't know malware in quotes
i mean that it's just fairly suspicious
doesn't exactly make you feel super safe when trying to update your keyboard...
i mean, so are 90% of applications on the internet
i don't know what you do on the internet but i certainly don't run suspicious programs 90% of the time
games on steam can contain malware for example, you don't call 90% of steam games malware because the community hasn't checked all the files/code
that is correct
there are a TON of steam games
i guess if downloading an executable that you can only get via email and is only in chinese, that for some reason needs to be run on your windows computer instead of just being flashable via common software, is not suspcious to you then you would be fine
tbh doesn't have to be just exe
also, those are the easier ones for windows defender or other antis to detect
how quick was it to update the firmware through their sus exe app?
i don't think them as a company would be wise to install malware on customer devices
it would essentially ruin their business if it'd be revealed
funny enough i think it might not, because they could just come back under a different name
you don't often see malware pre-installed or recommended by customer support on branded commodities
if you're a medium-sized business that would cost them big losses
really getting anything via email should set off red flags
they contacted you or did you contact them via email
at first
@flat dock your keyboard can come pre-installed with malware that executes on the go on your pc, yes it's better to worry than be sorry but it's unlikely.
you don't know for what they sent you their software instead of guiding you how to flash qmk, maybe they thought it was simpler for them to just send you the software
or simpler for you
that is a narrower vector though and kinda depends on guessing the operating system correctly so you know what keybinds you can do to launch commands...
anyways, if they would want to spread malware i believe there are more efficient ways than sending you a file through an email support that's listed in their business
why should i get the bridge75 over the apex pro tkl?
It's not about being universally scared of any sort of executable code existing on anything.. it's the amount of risk level with each individual given thing
I don't think it should be normalized to do that though
because the apex pro tkl is utter dogshit
That's why I list it as a negative, it shouldn't be normal even if not likely
it’s barely worth £40 on the used market for a reason
why do so many professional gamers use them?
marketing
lol
the same reason people use wooting boards unironically
lol fe
if you want a hall effect switch i’d go for a keychron k1 he i suppose
i’m still debating on the g pro x superlight 2 or the razer viper v3 pro?
i agree, but they did help you in the end no?
looking at gamers who have been sponsored by companies to have their hardware isn't really the best way to get buyers advice
ask @fiery sail about the wooting 60he
I don't see how that's relevant? It still shouldn't be normal to send firmware executables that must run on your computer to install via email
i have no clue about mice
if you look at razer, the amount of telemetry they'd love to collect from you is insane
i still use a redragon m913 in 2025
?
it's why I like qmk and via
data collection
ok
i can’t look at telemetry and not think of the time i nearly broke my pc by saving a 24 hour races worth of telemetry
it was literally 380gb worth of telemetry data
like tf a peripheral has to collect so much data, ideally sensitive ones too when i already pay $120 for their mid-high end keyboard
real
speaking of telemetry, I should keylog myself for a week. To figure out the amount of each key I press so I can shuffle switches to wear them evenly
it is relevant that the software has successfully flashed your fw
if no antiviruses tripped during anything and you can't find anything backdoor'ish in the code uhhh i mean it's acceptable
I don't really see how
- the concern is about the vector used and how that could be dangerous
- it could still flash the firmware but also install malware (not that I am saying that happened! but that doesn't mean you shouldn't be cautious on the internet
Reverse engineering is pretty time consuming and complicated
it is just unlikely that the software contains malware in the first place, even less likely it bypasses antimalware, there is a greater odd your sensitive data get breached this week
why don't you call half of us companies "malware" sellers when they secure/handle user data mostly uncarelessly
yes, the companies are "legit" but in the end da hackers get your data
That's good advice if you use it to choose what you dedicate your time to security-wise but not good if you use it to dismiss a concern about malware safety
well I do but that seems to be a less popular take so I don't go around saying it
keyboard telemetry is terrible no matter if it's Chinese or not
i'm not dismissing malware safety nor wish it
but if your priorities are security and privacy you should look up not just malware you download from a random dude
also, open source does not mean safe, there have been many instances of devs including malware in open source ware
but it's ofc more visible
one of the devs of qmk/via could go nuts, just says, it's extremely unlikely but it could happen
and post a latest version of it on git, their site
no, but that wasn't the reasoning I was using. For example, it's safer to choose something used by millions and with thousands of contributors looking at its code, than one random guy's keyboard tool
Just because you can't be certain of either one doesn't mean that there isn't a difference in the level of risk
i mean, if you look at source available minecraft clients/launchers that have been used by hundreds of thousands if not few millions there have been devs that tried to pull off some hmmm stuff
in the past
how high do you think the risk is? in %
compared to a dev of a large open source project going nuts
I don't really know how I would faithfully guess that
just list your odds
are you saying it's more likely for an open source dev to go nuts than a Chinese company?
we don't have statistics for that so, it's unanswered
can you say there is more malware coming from china than other countries?
like the us
I think it's getting way off track of what I was talking about originally
need to wash my hands after touching this disgusting fucking board
i mean, you mentioned level of risk which is still relevant
was it that dirty
It doesn't mean I have an actual exact percentage probability of "will qmk be compromised this year" versus "can this executable emailed to me contain malware"
If I did then I would be betting on polymarket
no I just hate topre
damn
specially the HHKB of all things
I think it's the worst lowest quality implementation of it
I need a realforce...
although I like the hhkb for the layout
I am seeing how it feels
real force is okay, If i liked topre I would recommend that
bad... the whole thing is bad ABS plastic 😭
I meant the layout how it feels
I have a 2017 hhkb
I really hate the keycap profile to be honest
feel wise, it's alright for me
I like split backspace and split right shift because of it now
you can get mx sliders for it but yeah i agree
I feel like I hit the sides of other keys too much. Maybe has to do with long travel as well
but then again I don't like cherry profile either
cherry profile is good to me
I'd rather have a nice SA or something equally tall
it seems like hhkb is a weirdly sculpted cherry
if you want a mind melter, try them cubic profile ones
I swear if it shows a bunch of Minecraft block keycaps when I look this up
Interesting
they've been around since the 90s as keycap manufacturers in taiwan
apparenyl even before that!
HistoryTai-HaowasfoundedenterpriseinPanchiaocity,TaiwanataninitialcapitalinvestmentofjustUSD20,000in1962andestablishedits1stfactoryinTuchengcity,Taiwanin1965&itsTaipeiheadquarterformarketing&sellingoverseasin1980.ThepristineproductsmanufacturedwerePVCPipe&KeyboardKeycap&KeyboardKeyswitch.Withstrongmarketdemandfordesktopcomputer,Tai-Haohasstep..
yeah, so it's unfair to call it a malware in quotes... there is no proof of malicious code being on it, firstly windows defender, if you have other antiviruses haven't detected anything and they tend to filter 95% of malware, then consider legitimate interest makes probably about 95% of chinese companie if you divide those numbers you get very, very roughly estimate of like 0.01% that the thing you receive is malware and managed to bypass antiviruses
similar thing with us companies, you should even question what microsoft employees want you to use to active your windows license
is this for the rainy75?
I mean the thing is via compatible, why tf would you need a dedicated software for it
some of them allegedly encouraged/guided people to download/use cracks
Firmware update executable
for what?
rainy75
no i mean why would you need to update the firmware from the stock one it comes with
@flat dock contacted them for support
There was something broken, I forget
I mean obviously firmware should always be up to date but that was the root cause
also, it's common for alot chinese boards to have an exe for flashing like for feker because users are idiots and there's a high chance they will bork their stuff
you can do qmk CLI though
i'm explaining to him that he shouldn't call them malware in quotes by default
because the risk is low
do you think the average joe schmuck would bother with installing QMK
it is there ofc
the difference is you'd download something well known rather than from a random vendor
i guess it depends on a person what is a low or high risk what could be malware
it's basically similar to QMK flasher with a different and automated wrapper anyways
even well known vendors pull shit all the time
we're just going in circles man
i mean that is
yeah that's fair
to me, it's nothing out of the ordinary, if it's acting up I can easily see what it's doing using monitoring tools
if it's acting out it's time to get out the holy water
if you want something problematic, look at irok LMAO
oh I just can't read
now them, I wouldn't trust
what happened to irok
irok has been known to actually contain trojan
i mean its badmark... but still
telling ya im a big fan
interesting
i mean besides viruses I just ahte installing softrware
I don't want any more of them
as long as they're via compatibel they should be okay
sounds like synapse to me
yeah
i assume it's not intentional or due to negligence their software has likely backdoors that could be abused, but i didn't know they harvest data and send it to alibaba... disappointing
currently the irok lol
i've quit the hobby
lol bored of all your chinesium ?
mostly happy with the boards i have now
i want a new monitor for my macbook however i also wanna be able to play on my pc and it can only do 1080p. However 1080 looks kinda shiz on mac os any suggestions?
i'm more focusing on pc hardware itself, and niches like testing thermal putties on gpu cores, i've started investing (basicly swapped a money draining hobby for with different polarity)
yeah, i've gotten tired of keyboards, there's not that much going around it
well, not true... you can make a lot around keyboards
geekhack dot org find new stuff there
i have already told you and you wont listen but you should reorganized your inventory and get smth higher end/actually good
i’ve been to a friend that had the good stuff
certainly weren’t boring keyboards but i didn’t see much interest in them as they were well, expensive
and i wouldn’t say the experience scaled with the price
good stuff such as ?
your beloved topre,
i believe he had also some epoch and…
yes
im doubtful hís keyboard is expensive, not really good...
he got any keyboard without foam to sound good
honestly i like foamy keyboards so maybe that’s why i can’t recall any non foamy ones, gimme sec
Ehh....
jjw moment
not me, atleast i think it wasn’t
Buy a matrix
No shilling tho but these are solid foamy boards
like pcb?
The board
yeah, thanks but i ended with the hobby as i said, i’ll now mostly just give people direction what to consider when buying
Give people shit holes again icic
Yawn
Nut65 is really fine
Im surprised
i try to not give direct recommendations, though i do sometimes
didn’t know irok had such outdated or as that guy described it white label software with backdoors so i’ll not recommend them
what about other weikav boards?
Better than lucky
Even tho is 1.2 fc
But is stiff mounted
Stiffiest gasket i have seen on chinesium
Alr order a 1.6 non fc and alu plate
See if it work wo foams
i mean it’s subjective foam or not i like foam and gasket mounted, pcb cut-offs, idm that much if it’s neither of those ^ my preference
i don’t think most people do mind or hate the things i listed above
yeah nice
good price
insane fucking good price
i've already got ppl asking if I get bored of it they wanna buy it 😭
why is kvetinky's troll react backwards
one of the servers ig put it that way
light mode detected 🚨🚨
I've always used light mode
you know this @bitter oar
rookie moment
it's like 3 am in the UK right now and I'm using light mode
banned
no, all offenses of light mode should be taken to court
pretty sure your eyes have been filling their proof for months now
light mode at 3:30am scary, 1% survival rate, something is watching me, monster, within a forest
100% real
i have to admit to my criminal activity
i’ve been using youtube in light mode too
ngl, part of the reason I dont' use darkmode is because it reminds me too much of times I don't sleep
like this one
so by using a completely differnt theme and look I avoid that feeling
if you don sleep a monsta called disease will come to you and plant stuff in your organs and laugh evilishly
anyways, enough der joking, i gtg have nice midnight @void geyser and rember don’t drink those 15 coffees at 3:30am

just metal
it's a WKL layout based on the original model M
space saving model but you ge tth epint
yeah but how big is the space
it always looks like you can fit a 1u key there
you can LOL
they take up exactly 1 u
why didn’t they just slap a key there lmao
it's mostly a homage to the original TKL
see that actually makes sense for a layout
dang
is it dysfunctional as shit? yeah, but does it feel nice? abso fucking lutely
how do you do shit like win+e or something on these though
I bind my windows key under right alt
that’s goofy
okay
i’d do like caps lock i guess
some people bind theirs in capslock yeah
caps lock is the worst key ever made anyway
only use it has is binding other better binds to it
you can bind ctrl to it like HHKB
your boards can't be reprogramed why you lying
Wish I had that set
Clean
Same applies to why they have to spipt a spacebar in half

Nice norbaforce gocf

I game on my chair most of the time and tend to use a pillow case for my 'mouse pad' but i want to see if I can get something else that would react better to it? The arm chair has fabric and not leather material.
Any other recommendations?
A lower chair w mousepad
mousepad on chair is an interesting config
Hi, I am planning on switching to a wireless headset. Present setup: Razer BlackShark V2 + sound card; Synapse is always on for the Razer Viper V3 Pro. External mic planned in the near future. What should I get?
1 - HyperX Cloud III S Wireless (145$)
2 - Razer BlackShark V3 Non-Pro (200$)
3 - Feel free to recommend any other option but 95% it would not be available to me localy neither can be ordered from anywhere because of my country
For more details, here is my post on the forums: https://linustechtips.com/topic/1622907-hyperx-cloud-iii-s-or-razer-blackshark-v3-non-pro-version-which-should-i-get/#comment-16800633
Thanks for any help!
Hello all, I’m planning on switching to a wireless headset and narrowed down my options to the HyperX Cloud III S Wireless ($145) and the Razer BlackShark V3 None Pro version($200). Location & Budget: I live in Lebanon, so my choices are limited. Importing is expensive. Budget is around $150–...

Hi I’m looking at getting a monitor for my new rig (should have all parts tomorrow)
I currently have an Alienware (idk the model) that’s 1920x1080 @native 240hz
I’d like to look to get an OLED 1440p and I’ve found the one attached.
Questions: is it still worth to get an OLED when there’s mini led ones for cheaper?
Im under the impression that higher hz is better, is this right?
My rig will have:
ryzen 7 9800x3d cpu
Radeon 9070xt gpu
X870 eagle motherboard
I’m not sure if I’d really want a 32” monitor as my 25 is already kinda large and I don’t need the “real estate” or whatever
btw may be worth checking aoc oled monitors
I was just under the impression that asus ROG will hopefully be better quality
There’s an MSI mag for same price as the ROG
the aoc is solid, i cannot say confidently if the quality of the asus is worth an extra 100p
the asus is lg’s woled and aoc is samsung’s qd-oled
check which generation of oleds are they the aoc is gen 3 / 2.5 iirc
unsure which gen of woled the asus is
The TrueBlack Glossy display coating on the ROG Strix OLED XG27AQDMG Gen 2's WOLED panel
AOC is gen 3
I think MSI says it’s “next gen” whatever that infers
the aoc is well calibrated from reviews
i would personally save the few quid and buy the aoc
price?
that’s just marketing ignore
Ab okay
manufacturers tend to exaggerate pixel response claims 5x
Anything’s possible with enough asterisks
my favorite saying
i still can’t decide between the razer viper v3 pro and the logitech g pro x superlight 2
both are overpriced imo
idm the price lol, i’m willing to pay £130 for either one
price isn’t and issue for me
what do you think about mices made from metallic alloys?
idk what that is
instead of plastics some chinese manufacturers use magnesium
i’ve felt both of them in person and i like the feel of the maybe the logitechs a little more as i prefer the right and left buttons
fireworks
🎆
that’s the metal used in them
a bit of an unstable metal there 😂
yeah… they use alloys
anything that’s good for fps comp games
not a pure magnesium casing, that would be hmmm i think you’d want to pay an extra for insurance
there are ton of paw3395 mices
look for the coating - what people think, skates as well
shell creaking if that bothers you
silent or loud clicks
soft/spammable or hard/tactile clicks
watch for switch grinding that also tends to be common with mice if it bothers you
which grip style you’re using? claw, fingertip, palm or other
you can compare shapes on eloshapes and rtings
what’s your hand size?
wait i’m confused
i lick to hear my clicks do loud, i like the clicks on the logitech superlight 2
nah not really
look up the chinese gpx clones if you don’t mind gpx shape
i like the shape of both the viper v3 pro and logitech superlight 2
the only time i go ergonomic is if it for productivity stuff
look up aliexpress if it’s available to you
ttc has nice switches
anyways, i don’t think it’s necessary to spend £130 on mice in this day and age
i think it would be wise to save like £70 of that budget of more pc storage or a gpu for example, unless you bought them already
or there are times when you may not have excess spare money
also, if you have money just laying around i suggest buying atleast gold or silver with it or something material, or investing into an index fund such as s&p 500/1500 and indexes in other regions
@prime pivot also just so you’re aware, razer has horrible software
you pay 130 quid for a peripheral and the manufacturer doesn’t end there, they want to collect telemetry as well
ofc other manufacturers do too but razer, if you read their ToS is just playing dirty
don’t need to worry about computer stuff, that money is already covered for its, £2650
chinese ones also should be watched, some use outdated platforms they built their software on and feature backdoors and some telemetry
but pretty sure westernware also has a bunch of (unintentional) backdoors
yeah just beware with most stuff including peripherals there is a diminishing returns curve, like above 50 you won’t get much better than like vgn vxe was in 2024 (featuring similar shape)
samsung 990 pro won’t feel faster than like sn580/sn5000 in 99.9% tasks
Part List - AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D, GeForce RTX 5080, NZXT H9 Flow (2025) ATX Mid Tower
not the most well spent money on each part but not too bad either
if you already purchased the parts, if you don’t think it’s worth the hassle (it’s prob not) then it’s fine
atleast the 990 evo plus, the price isn’t good for a 2tb
does that do something
i haven’t bought anything yet
won’t be buying until october
so if you want to edit it u can
if you think i can get a better ssd then pick a different ssd for me
but i was going to wait until the day i can buy everything to double check
then ask in october
lol
prices fluctuate
yeah, there is a lot that can be improved on the build, ask in october
not now
i wasn’t anyways lol 😂
Hi, I had a question about headphones. I’ve been looking into getting one for under $80, and the one that has stood out has been the open-back SHP9600. However, I realized it may not have that good a spatial audio for gaming, which I would definitely like, but I’d also use it for videos and music. Are there any options that are noticeably better? For example the hyperx cloud 2 seems to have a decent price on Amazon but idk.
maybe consider oneodio monitor 80
he400se, but they’re not very spatial

is this a good mouse?

TTC Sacred Heart KOM switches or TTC Tai E switches?

have you used the monitor 80
the 9500 is where the party's at. with the 9600 they increased the thickness of the earpads, and somehow this threw a lot of things off
I have the old cloud 2 and it's been great with precise horizontal angles in most games
the monitor 80 doesn't do this.
the he400se kind of does this, but it's famously inconsistent and prone to error. it may seem like it's definitely pointing towards the back at a specific angle with a specific sound, but it's actually the front. change just the sound or just the angle, and this is no longer true
there are still worse outcomes, like having no sense of direction
lots of closed backs in this pricerange exist that don't have precision but still show a general direction
you could get an m50x clone around the $50 mark and see if it works well with your hrtf. realistically this is my first pick unless I'm playing games that rely on better distance judgement than picking up quiet sounds
hd280 pro has outstanding vertical directionality in games like cs2, at least for me
y
you should have some perspective on whether or not the monitor 80 can image before recommending it for imaging purposes
My Corsair k63 wireless is no longer charging so I need to replace it. What's a quiet wireless keyboard that would be a good replacement ?
i get a decent sense of direction and instrument separation w my monitor 80’s and my ears
oh ok
I don't really wish to double ping like this, but it appears kvetinky gets a substantially different sense of imaging than I do
i was disappointed with he400se though
for this model
ye me too
I hope I'm just unlucky with the monitor 80. for me it was vague and didn't really help me with where to aim
yeah, maybe my unit is just good idk
when you were describing the treble peak on the monitor 80’s
my unit had it elsewhere
I don't exactly wish for oneodio to reap in the cash either with the monitor 80, that's a personal bias I have against any headphone that doesn't provide replacement pads
but I do have measurements with my 711/kb501x clone
one sec
yeah even aftermarket sucks for the oneodio’s
ripoff dt990 replacements are the most similar I've found so far
may i have the link
btw i got the headphones for like €50 including shipping and taxes
good deal
pretty resolving, I just don't get much imaging from them like I do from even a dt990
I can't tell for sure, but https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CM9MM82H
the earpads that came on my ebay dt990 250, sold as legitimate but actually a good fake, used earpads identical in structure to oem dt880/990 pads but a more flexible and thin perforated black plastic ring on the rear side of the pads
perhaps ebay is the mark of the beast here
all I remember for sure is that they measured more linearly than genuine stock dt880/990 pads
which I got from my dt880 600r new
maybe a bad unit idk
though that would raise concern a bit in terms of qc
interesting
personally i don’t like beyers, their headphones have a bit too much treble, especially the dt990s
I redact my prior attemps of concretely saying what this headphone does
like sure, the extra treble is nice in certain genres, but in something like… bodycam (the game) i’d go deaf
it's poorly documented and I can only add so much
every extra perspective is basically a revelation
did you check out the fiio ft3’s too
oh ye the graaph
i think they may be underrated considering the price of them has significantly dropped
not yet
for the love of god they changed it for good
for bad
