"don't need to mod them"
then proceeds to say to mod them 🥀
mod the board by changing the switches*
i just saw thats an oteumu brown not a cherry brown
man I hate working with zmk,
tbh I wasn't expecting cherry browns for that price
i wondered why they had more of an actual bump then an mx brown
its still barely there
mx brown hate is so forced I can't lie
they're just light tactile, but still tactile
why are there no good alps clones
they feel (stock) like unlubed linears and when lubed they feel like a very lightly lubed linear
because no one uses alps
arent alps actually good in terms of tactility
and people who does value authenticity and rarity
cherry switches were never meant to be tactile
50/50, they're better for clicky
compared to my ktt matchas which id consider light tactile theyre a lot more tactile then a brown
id describe the mx brown as having a light scratch near the middle 2mm~ of the keystroke
also theyre very different when broken in/not broken in
well for one the beers are tactile switches
you may want to film them though, only reason I didn't buy a full 110 set of beers
yeah ill see
gg got scammed
can u desolder
?
make it plateless
and drop ina 15$ set of stbstoo
yeah
plate delete is an interesting mod
honestly with how relatively quiet it is currently i might just go for a foam mod
hmx sonja
if i ever replace switches ill probably go for some kang whites
its a 5 pin slot that works with the other regular switches ive tried
i doubt ill need otuemu specific switches
honestly on these switches i find myself bottoming out a lot less then the akko v3 cream blue
i feel like its the less harsh(non existant) bump
plate delete only really works if it's a 5 pin switch
yeah
otherwise, it's a fucking nightmare getting it on
I've got a plateless build with mx2a reds
i’m pretty sure it is 5pin
i haven’t actually opened it yet i’ve just seen that switch and seen a 5 pin variant of it
i wonder if a plate delete will make it sound quieter or louder i’m planning on using this in work instead of my shitty laptop keyboard so i kind of want it quiet
sent back my wooting, im pretty sure i want to go with keychron silent K pro switches and im contemplating what keyboard to put them in.
barebones is out of the question due to price, im paying 35€ for the switches so i would like to spend somewhere around 40-70€ (full size, ISO-DE)
some options i have are the sharkoon skiller SGK20, acer predator aethon 300 or genesis thor 303.
all options available to me are in the screenshot:
(i didnt filter for how swappable as a lot of the hot swappable ones wont be listed)
you might wanna do that because some in the screenshot aren't even MX switches
but why not a keychron keyboard as well?
that seems like it'd fit the layout and price
something like the V series
no keychron is just overpriced in germany
whats wrong with the wooting
its SO ass
i dont want to miss out on a num pad again, i picked their most silent option and dampened it and it still was quite loud.
i had to wait 2 months for a product, they offered me a gift card, whichthey later revoked, im right now in contact with customer protection if the issue can be resolved naturally nad i can be compensated for everything or if this will legit end up in a lawsuit
linear switches arent for me, the actuation force wit hthe lekker 60s was too much, which is why im now targetting 40-50g silent linears
the software was terrible compared to via, locking out so many options if you wanted to use the 8000Hz mode
i could go on for hours
some of these are personal
and just subjective to taste
but as a company wooting is just awful
btw the product was listed as "in stock" i got 3 confirmation emails updating my process to the product is being packed, packed and ready to ship and then 1 week later after nothign happened they just said "yeah your keyboard never eisted, we just made up these confirmation emails out of thin air, here is a gift card"
the gift card would not be applicable to my current order, which makes it literally useless, no im not actually buying a 2nd wooting keyboard anytime soon, why would i?
and then later on they just claimed they never offered a gift card
fair
the good thing is i can stil lreturn it and learned i dont want linear switches (which makes HE kinda useless (and even more expensive)) and the costs of shipping and all that are carried by a very terrible company
and most likely im already entitled to a free keyboard because of misleading information and i'll just sell that or gift it to a friend
at least thats what consumer protection told me so far
id think linear switches would be the best HE switch type
because of how analog inputs work
exactly
thats why im happy to drop the HE and just go some mechanical keyboard thats cheap and silent and just a mior step up fro mrubberdome
as switching back to rubebrdome after~10 days feels totally fine
like minorly mushy but i only notice it while paying attention.
my other option would be to just put a 2nd keyboard in thats really silent but i dont want to do that really
i like my ak820 pro
mainly bc of desk space
you could try that
no ISO DE layout that i can find
and buyign new keycaps and reprogramming keys is just not worth it at below 100€
oh also wootings plastic switch puller they sent with the keyboard broke after just pulling out 3 switches and i had to use a screwdriver to get them all out bc the keyboard doesnt fit in the box with switches in.
well, now its wootings problem if some of those switches have cracks and scratches 🤷
wooting 80 he was never a tkl
stock keycap and switch pullers are universally ass
you need some all metal ones
MMMM yummy 50%
oh i meant to mention this earlier but forgot; why k pro silent specifically? have you looked at all the other silent switch options
they have all kinds of tactiles if you want
thats my specialization currently
i want to target 40-50g actuation force and others are about 2x the price
they are 35 including shipping whilst the next cheapest option is 55 and wouldnt even cover the whole keyboard
which version of the k pro silent were you gonna choose
have you seen 40%
have u seen 3%
I am looking for a button that I can mount in one of my pcie slots. Not pcie but in one of these things from the image I attatched but with a button in it.
these?
DLC
I finally setup all of my monitors.
That's also an option. But would be great if there was already a button mounted to it
Hey all! I'm between three oled monitors with similar specs and price, but I'm not sure which one to buy. They all have 1440p 27, with 240hz OLED
I was gonna buy the Gigabyte one but I'm not sure if Asus has better panels etc
(The Asus one is 100 euros more but I don't mind if it means it's better)
Someone suggested this one too
i wanna buy a qd oled 1440p monitor, should i buy now or is it better if i wait
summer generally is a good time, depending where you live i would probably scout for sales.
where i live (germany) right now there are some for under 480€ (taxes and shipping already included)
but sometimes there are sales for 400-450€ so its worth to keep an eye on it for some time, especially with websites that offer price alerts
unless you have very specific usecases where 360Hz and 240Hz is a night and day difference (most likely this wouldnt be your own money then but an esports org buying the monitor for you) i would never spend that much money on it.
the standard for even the more budget OLEDs is so high tho, that it barely makes a difference, they are all very good already with minor differences.
the main difference here would be WOLED or QD OLED which is more of a personal preference thing, monitors unboxed has videos about it.
but paying 20% more for that is very hard to justify, even for very convinced WOLED people.
besides that, the OEM menu is probably the biggest factor, besides colour calibration, which is subjective and you wont know unless u see both in front of you which picture you like more.
they are all accurate, just some might have a more blue-ish picture whilst others are tainted more red and again thats preference and you wont know in advance.
in general just go with the cheapest (ideally wait and scout for sales for a bit) and 99/100 times you will have made the best decision
where did the keyboards channel go
here
well this is boring monitors channel
this is monitors, keyboards, mice, sometimes headphones
It is you just have to mention it
i'd say this is still 75% keyboards 😄
as are most keyboards' layouts
i have some where for only keyboards
only good one
yeah I dont play competitive games at all, I mostly work with photos and videos and play casual games with friends
I'm between these two
529 euro vs 629
100 euro difference
529
not sure how accurate this is but apparently the evnia one is better at handling colour?
Yeah I think that's probably the one I'll pick
the colour thing though...
if so its marginal and if you seriously work woith videos you should copy an ICC colour profile (just ask chatgpt where to find one) and at that point both will be very similar in colour accuracy
they dont spend a lot of time calibrating it which is why is one of the reasons the cheap ones are cheaper, but optimized settings are just out there to copy/download
takes 5 minutes, saves 100€, 1200€/hour
sorry im pretty new at monitors
dw was at the same point not too long ago 😄
I currently have a used samsung oddisey g5 I bought ages ago
the 32 1440p one
i'ts okay but the VA panel really tires me
apparently the colour thing I showed is because the phillips has 1500000:1 contrast?
not sure if it's a typo lmao
i enjoyed the uplift in contrast and picture quality when i moved from IPS to VA
no thats correct, most OLEDs have some contrast ratios in the millions
because, well, a turned of pixel is quite the contrast
😄
so is the difference between 15000000 vs 1:5000 that noticable?
does it mean the gigabyte ones dont fully turn off?
they also turn off, it should have similar contrast ratio
right
I'll get the cheaper gygabite one
i've been thinking of getting a dirt cheap secondary screen too
so maybe i'll spend the 100 euros I save on that
oh!
second last
then I don't know why the vs page displayed it like that hahaha
yeah i'll get the gigabyte one!
yeah those are often terrible
I really appreacite your help
npnnp 🙂
yeah I assumed hahaha
thats why im here
do you have any recomendations on cheap secondary monitors?
i've been meaning to get rid of my big 32 samsung screen and replace it with 2 smaller ones on a vesa mount
like nobody cares what HZ it has or how colour accurate it is DISPLAYING DISCORD OR STH xD
basically yeah haha
oh no my taskmanager has a slightly red teint i cant even notice on my usage diagrams
like the keyboard
thank you! it's the first one i've assembled
u got the rainbow accents in a pack or had to buy 5 different keycaps?
it's an iso-es pack designed by some spanish artists
but I think they have ansi keys in there
i just noticed the spacebar
i'd need ISO-DE
oh that's perfect then
whoops sorry
they have uhh keys with drawings you could replace the spanish keys with?
is DE similar to ES?
I thought it was
left from enter u have the Ä Ö Ü
oh that's right I forgot the umlauts
and a few symbols are palced differently, including on the coloured ones
rip, sorry
like @ and € are on Q and E
it really sucks for us non ansi people
y im looking for ages for an affordable silent ISO-DE keyboard, the rest i almost dont care about
and that ended me up with a wooting, which is now sent back and they violated some laws in the process which is now getting resolved either with consumer protection or legit a lawsuit
huh
they labeled it as in stock, even sent 3 production steps like packaged /ready to be picked up
then said it never existed and next shipment is in 1 month
offered 30€ gift card
bruh
and then when i said ok they said they never offered onexD
wait were you the one that I suggested keycheon to but its too expensive
and offering a gift card that is not applicable to the current order is already illegal
Oh
do you have any tips to see the lowers prices for the gigabyte monitor?
like a website or somethign
thats usually local price comparison websites
i dont know which ones there are in spain
thats why im here
still open for any other recommendations from the screenshot i sent, currently im not in the modd to watch hours of reviews again 😄
my hhkb pro 1 showed up
is that left win upside down
Idk to be honest
yes
and spacebar, yes
oh macos layout
I mean its Mac layout though
the board just doesn’t have windows keys
uhh
no it’s not
it’s hhkb layout
cause it’s a hhkb
Macos and windows have flipped alt and windows
so you have it set to the Mac layout right now
see the command logo , that's the windows key
it
it is not on the mac layout
does it not have a windows layout option??? I could've sworn they did
there is a dip switch to toggle mac layout
it is Not on the mac layout
Also there is no windows keys
meta
This isn’t a mac keyboard
is that not windows key?
what does it do
useless for me
but it’s used for old systems iirc
for lisp and such
this keyboard was designed in 1996 i believe by a unix programmer
I thought meta was supposed to be the windows key on a modern OS
Well it isn’t
maybe with a modded pcb
but from what i’ve seen (at least on hasu psb) it seems that alt is replaced with win keys
that would be a "Mac layout" yes
So what does Mac mode do vs windows then
on a normal keyboard it swaps alt and windows
well brother
it is not a mac layout
cause it’s hhkb layout
its what I meant by Mac layout was the point I was trying to make
I was talking about the modified one you just mentioned, not yours
why is the left super/windows upside down
cause it’s comfy
i use it as my modifier key
so
ok i guess
had that with the arrow keys on my wooting as well
in standard rotation they were awful
alt key in the regular windows keyboard position is comfy
sucks is an understatement xD
my 12 year old 40€ rubberdome is legit better than the wooting
not even close
glad that abomination of a keyboard left my house today
would be interested to see if topre can decrown the lichicx raw silents
at the very least there wouldn't be any possibility of ticks or anything
Wooting 60he? Is it that bad
there service alone is very close to a lawsuit rn bc what they did to me
at least consumer protection is involved
and 90% of its features rule out the others
if u have 8k Hz mode on, it disables any RGB effects and basically anything else they offer
i dont even remember everything that disabled something
it was so much
idk
8k mode also locks u to 75% brightness
for some reason
like it seems to be power supply issue
not even mentioning their support legit scammed me
(which is why there is a potential lawsuit)
oh they also advertised 90 switches but in the actual pack there were only 87
which means there was just 1 single reserve switch
@young spoke u know some things about sim racing right?
nice
in game, i cant steer fully
how much rotation do you get and what game/car
and ive been troubleshooting liek 2 hours
f12019
got automobilista 2 downloading rn
tried 900 and 270
for everything else set 900 degrees in software and game
f1 cars are 360
if that solves it
modern ones atleast
for the vintage cars id google what they are irl and set that in software
i never play vintage cars
nope, i stil lget like 80% max xsteering
i just replay at a corner
with controller i make it
with steering wheel i crash the barrier
id try ams2 see if its the wheel or the game thats the issue
the weirdest thing is in the calibration it shows it can do -100 to 100
and then it just never does it when exiting the menu
seems to be the same issue in ams2
the game registers in at 100 left/right
but when in the race no matter how much i turn it, it wont turn as much as on the controller
@young spoke
show video
just want to hop in private call and i stream?
seems easiest to me
u ok with that @young spoke ?
just record it and upload it to youtube or something
max steer (left) on controller
same on wheel
on wheel the ingame steering wheel rotates like 170°
on controller 220° ish
Hey all,
Looking to upgrade my GPU for programming, Blender, video editing, and some gaming with ray tracing. Budget is £200–£300, AMD only, 12GB VRAM preferred, no RGB, and reliable brands only. Any recommendations or good UK stores to buy new? Thanks!
that pretty much limits it to 6700/6750XT and 7700XT
if 7700XT is within budget thats a no brainer unlesss there is a 6750XT for legit 2/3 the price or less
i'd highly suggest making it an own thread in #1106613567966429224 tho
okay I'll check it out
although i'd highly recommend checking out the B580
I'll check that out then thank you for your advice
npnp 🙂
if you have any issues with intel that i can either confirm or dismantle just ask.
cant say intel has no issues but a LOT of them were fixed just by software updates, while others remain
i’m going to be honest i’ve genuinely never seen this issue
is the wheel rotation in ams2 on 900 too?
just had it on 360
set everything to 900
but i would be more than baffled if that resolves it
also what car is that
games are weird
chevy cruze 2022
the weirdest thing is it recognizes it in the software and sais it can do 100%
and then it doesnt
in both games
it’s probably a software issue
try opening usb controllers in windows and pressing t128 properties and recalibrate
does the wheel physically stop or does it just stop in game
what are your wheel rotation settings in game
100 360 when it was set to 360 from f1
that means the game is limiting the rotation to 170 for some reason
put it to 900 and put it in game to 900 too
most games just have a stroke when not using 900° of rotation
also check if there’s an option to sync wheel rotation try that on and off
that worked
but
it steers even more than controller
i wont complai ntho
problem is this game is useless to me and we somehow have to get this to f12019
but thats progress and im already infinitely thankful 😄
in f1 it didnt help, still exact same as before
real rotation of that car is like 540 last i checked
in bed now, but i'll try tomorrow before i leave
ok fair
Anyone have a Corsair Katar Elite? Are you able to test if it works with OpenRGB.
also do you like it lol
I don't have katar but I have the k60
that works with openrgb
tbh just use signal, you get pretty good rgb with it
i use linux unfortunately
anyone here using a cheap mechanical keyboard from Officeworks?
i use the typhoon G12 PRO keyboard & mouse bundle
damn we profiling people based on their operating system now smh
people need way less to profile people in way more serious interactions than random discord chats
did you test f1?
nah had a stressful day and will spend the rest with some friends but im free tomorrow
ok fair
OpenRGB and ArtemisRGB but look at supported devices for openrgb
I just got a new monitor but it's calibrated much differently to the one I already own (they arent the same brand so I'm assuming thats why) is there something I can use to make the other look closer to my new one, without manually fidgetting with the settings?
FR
or a framework
try to find an ICC profile.
they are usually quite hidden and unless monitors unboxed has a review on your specific monitor, i would just ask chatgpt to find you one, thats usually the most successful
MSI FORGE GK310 (40€), Genesis Thor 303 (57€) or Tecware Phantom RGB 105 (60€)?
i will get new silent switches anyway but the rest will keep the same
look up ICC profiles for the specific model on google, there might be ones if there's any reviewers with it
It should go without saying but don't ask chatgpt to find anything because it will probably just give you garbage
@young spoke alright, im ready to test settings again.
how would you proceed now?
tested in 360, same issue, controller makes the corner, wheel doesnt
althought whats interesting, this is what max steering right looks like ingame with controller
with wheel the ingame wheel turns more, but the steering on track is less
its just complete and utter bananas
just to make sure i also turned off any assists to make sure those arent different depending on if you have a wheel attached or controller, but even with all of them off, the same inputs turn out different results
dont ask chatgpt to give u the calibrations (it cant even do that), just ask it where to find them, as there often are 10 reviews and only 1 or 2 of them have an ICC profile.
i recently looked up one for a friends notebook and couldnt find an icc profile myself, but chatgpt just linked me an article that had one in 5 seconds
and this happens all the time.
most often i just use chatgpt upfront as its just quicker than clicking through articles manually
this is accurate
wheel needs to steer a lot more in a corner
because controller has weird smoothing
alright, but technically given the same input of 100% steering and 100% throttle the result from controlelr and wheel should be the same, right?
i have an asus tuf k1, and i really hate how its loud and 105%. im getting a new one and heres what i need: I want it quiet, 75% with printscreen button, a volume knob, needs to be querty, and codable. kinda need to see what letters im pressing at dark too so ig that too. all under £40. I can push up the price to MAX £60
i need a michelin chef by my house in 15 minutes with a vegas dinner course meal, my budget is 40$
main things are 75% quiet and volume knob
yeah so ?
try and i will lyk what i think about them
@short compass or look buy a membrane
is quieter than mech
is not a fullsize
it is
Hello, I've been looking at getting a new headset for under $70, preferably open-back. I care most about the sound quality, but it would be good to have high-quality spatial audio for games and such. Reddit recommended PC-37X, but those are out of stock or over MSRP, and AI suggested Philips SHP9600. Any recommendations?
is buying MSI MPG 271QRX now a good idea?
at least in my country u could get a 4k OLED for that price
if its one of the cheapest OLEDs where u live, its good, especially if you are coming from 1080p IPS
4k oled in my county costs 1300$
and have a GPU that can handle the extra pixels of course
thats so wild, we pay 750€ (taxes, shipping, etc. included)
1440p oleds are ~450€
i have a 4070 ti super and comming from 1440p
may i ask where are you from?
germany
but europe in general has very similar prices
rn there are 2 offers sub 750
earlier this week there was one for 720
with the ti super u could almost think of going 4k, especially if you dont mind using upsaling and frame gen
its kind of an overkill for 1440p and just not good enough for 4k
if u plan on upgrading to a 5080 level card in the next 1-2 years i would definitely recommend 4k if u can afford it
else OLED is great and all, but especially if ur comign from a more high end 1440p monitor 750$ (pre taxes i imagine so more like 900) is still a lot of money
what is your exact main monitor model name?
@winter plume
sorry i was in the bathroom
my dream country to travel
npnp mate 😄
its a 27” 1440p 240hz ips for twisted minds, sorry im in my friends house so i cant check the exact model
thats just how prices are here
again, the 1440p ones are ~450€
which in % is about the same price difference as from 750 to 1300
u gotta start saving up
im going 4k OLED with a 5080 level card next summer myself
thats a great choice, hope the best for u
TM27DQI
does that ring a bell?
yeahh thats it
the name of one of the worst choices ive ever made
was it that expensive?
ill sell if for like 200 (bought it for 300)
as u technically could get a second one and play dual QHD
for the time being
wouldnt need to be the exact same one ofc
yeah but i think its wiser to sell it and buy some games, im not a streamer of anything and i dont have much space in my setup
ill think abt it, thanks for ur time
why is that
npnp thats why im here
the 750$ is pre tax right?
meaning roughly 900$ that will leave ur bank account
in both cases thats a lot of money without any meaningful differences besides the panel type
you already have 1440p with quite a high refresh rate.
and the other improvements like response times are technically there but unless you are getting paid to play esports, wont matter to you.
(and in that case it would be already your orgs money that pays for the monitor)
even minus the 200$ (if u even get that much) that is still a large commitment when most of what you gain is better colour visualization/contrast with the other features not really too different during actual gameplay.
if u were coming from a 60 hz monitor or 1080p or something, now we are talking about a lot of uplifts,
but you are comign from a fairly high end 1440p, the only thing it doesnt have is an OLED panel or other forms of local dimming.
real
there is no tax
i mean most of the games i play are storymode and rely on visuals and graphics
yeah ur right i think i will wait, thanks
no worries.
maybe u want to go a similar path as me, get a 4k OLED next year when prices are better (although if ur in the US thats more of gamble than a given compared to... any other country)
your 4070ti super will be perfectly fine with 4k and a little upscaling even in demanding titles (those might need balanced to get 60-100FPS)
until 2026/2027, if ur lucky a bit longer, but ofc we are already getting speculative here.
in indiana jones, expedition 33 and cyberpunk for example u still have some headroom and could probably even run those titles natively in optimized settings.
and by the time your GPU gives in, 5080 level cards should come down quite a bit.
if u think by next year that a buying a 5080 is realistic in the near future, a 4k OLED definitely is an amazing move.
if not, having some money saved up especially in the US is always a good idea.
Recommendations for a low latency capture card to play console (Switch 2 primarily) games on PC?
Whether external via usb/c or internal pcie card.
I was looking at a 5k2k monitor primarily for productivity. I am on a 5090 laptop, so i figured the dell u4025qw is probably the better choice (and play on a different monitor mounted underneath) since there's no way for a 5090m to play most games well on the LG 5k2k right?
I took apart my mouse to clean it and I only lost 3 screws! And it still works!
Anyone have recommendations for felt deskmats?
is 4k the consumer standard these days? I feel old and silly asking. All of my tech is still 1080p and I'd like a frame of reference
1080p is still the most popular
1440p and 4k are getting quite popular though
in like 3 years i bet 1440p will overtake 1080p
Thank you
does anyone know if there are mice like the logitech t400 zone touch; it seems to be discontinued now but i loved using these (maybe a lil bit of nostalgia)
1080p is perfectly fine, you can get entire setups including, PC monitor and other peripherals to get started with gaming for below 1k$
1440p is an uplift that doesnt require an ultra high end GPU and even the monitors are fairly cheap, so if u spend a lot of time and have a little extra its often worth it.
4k, especially if you play demanding titles and dont just edit spreadsheets requires GPUs that cost about 1000$ on their own (to work without compromises). and 9/10 times u would get a better and cheaper experience in 1440p with an OLED monitor, which is why 4k is at its best for the really high end where u have to cheap out on nothing.
ofc there are niche szenarios that can change that, e.g. if you only play idk minecraft, stardew valley and trackmania, but for most gamers this is roughly how it goes.
you should still look at yourself as the individual tho. some people just notice the difference less than others. if everyone around you has a 5080 and 4k, that doesnt mean it was worth it for them or it would be for you. the best thing is to check what you can afford, try it out before buying it, seeing if the difference is worth the money for you and if you would be better off spendign the money elsewhere or not at all, saving for emergencys or reducing your work hours to have more freetime instead of a higher end setup.
I think there was an older one. Also, the new Magic Mouse uses touch, I think?
tips for a new monitor?
looking for 2k 27inch 144hz+ as a minimum tbh
just so lost on what's good value
what monitor(s) are u comign from?
honestly i don’t think anyone should buy a new 1080p monitor
if you already have one fair enough but i’ve seen people buy 240hz1080p monitors over a 165hz1440p monitor
just why
i would also not get a high end 1080
but if u are new to pc gaming and want to try it out first, its already a huge commitment of at least 800$
no reason to make that barrier of entry even higher
not even including games and most people who are new wont instantly sail the high seas or start by playing the free2play games which are usually competitive games
1080 le works
?
the median savings in the US are 8k$
1/3 of people are in debt
Yall i wanna hear what do yall think of sennheiser pc38x headphones?
I've been using them for over a year and i think that theyre amazing but im thinking about what if they die and i have to switch to something different so what could that new pair or headphones be?
magic mouse is way too overpriced and way too inconvenient tbvh; are there no brands that make mice like these anymore 😭
if you think magic mouse is bad try a mighty mouse
Tbh if ur thinking about spending money on this kinda mouse just get a cheapest wireless mouse on aliexpress at that point..
Theres no point in spending more than 10 bucks on this kinda mouse
aliexpress mice dont seem to have the touch scrolling
Tf's touch scrolling
Been using the scroll wheel since always and its been good so i dont get for what reason would you need touch scrolling?
I guess its nice on trackpads
Get a used magic trackpad then
I've heard that these are good
i already have a primary mouse and i was just wondering if they still made mice like these; i don’t need a trackpad i want a mouse
Which mouse u got rn?
Oh this one
i have a razer cobra rn
I got viper ultimate
nice
i wish 😭
You don't actually need the keycaps, you can just press the switches directly yourself.
less weight!
It's a g502 Lightspeed i got from goodwill. All of the weights are missing
I'd like to buy a bluetooth audio receiver, but most of them has a battery inside. Though I'll use it home so I will never unplug them. Could it be dangerous? The batteries are obviously way smaller than smartphones or laptops, but I'm not sure if it could be dangerous to keep it plugged in all the time.
it might reduce battery life (which shouldnt be a concern for you) as most batteries lose capacity faster at 0-20% and 80-100% charge which is why a lot of devices offer batery saving options where they wont charge over 80%
otherwise, as long as u buy from a brand that has to go through international testing and dont get some knock off on wish or sth you'll be fine
even on aliexpress and similar sites you can find good ones, just make sure you buy from someone with a lot of sold products (as those are hardest to fake) and reviews (which are more easy to fake)
I was looking for the Ugreen ones, on Amazon, so it should be fine. 🙂 Yeah I don't mind if it kills the battery, as long as it won't inflate and get on fire. 😅
no product is 100% safe from that, but besides the junk pieces u should be safe and in the very unlikely scenario thats why we have insurances
Alright! Thanks for your answer!
no worries mate
hey guys Im trynna get a brown switch mechanical keyoard (60 or 75% is fine, j dont want a full size) and would preferebly want a 2.4ghz option (the usb reciever) along with wired
whats the best keyboard for under 30 dollars usd?
please consider spending more on a keyboard than 30 us
d
it is infinitely worth it
would 40 bucks be enough
its not enough for most keycap sets honestly
but you can get low quality mx boards for 30 or 40 usd
if you desire that
damn wth
what r ur thoughts on this?
if you want a cheap mx keyboard with fancy lighting then its great
but if you want MY thoughts i would never buy dat lol
gateron optical browns yeah
i would HIGHly recommend picking a different board even if you want a cheap amazon keyboard doe
because that 60% layout is dreadful
alright
the keyboard im typing on right now can be flipped for probably like
how much dyt is the minimum to building your own keyboard
bro WHAT
700
dawg
does it have gold or diamonds?
keep in mind its an enthusiast board from 2003-06 with 2400 units ever producd
oh
Rubber domes
its really cool but flipping them islame
so its like a koenigsegg in keyboards
well i built my gmk67
my only mx boad
board
for 100 gbp
but you could do it cheaper im sure
my friend has these purple switches
dont know the exact name
but those r so nice
but browns r honestly the best middle ground
if youre trying to build your own mx keyboard for a cheapish price im probably not the best person to ask because iam not a fan of mx
but i was a fan and im surei could help u
ah
ill consier building my onw
own
someones selling this for 30
but its not like a gateron or hcerry
idk how good the "logitech" switches are
oh i thouhght it was just cherry mx
thats what i thought u were referring too
akko
nah theres a loooot of different companies wh oproduce mx switches
oh
if it mentions mx its mx
if not, google the model name
wb the low profile keys
if its not mx its not reallt worth ur time
most really suck to type on
oh
unless you have previous experience with low profile and "regular" boards and know you like low profile more
theyre probably not worht your time
if you do end up buying a low profile board try to get one with choc switches
is this not your first keyboard?
im typing on some ergo logitech keyboard right now
its membranes
i went to micro center
and tried out some keys
blues were the best if it werent for the noise
jeez i wasnt recommedning stuff to u cause i thought you were buying pc components and on a strict budget loool
so brown won
idk why ithought that
may i ask where ur from
ydy
america
i see
r u canada
welll if youre willing to spend al ittle more on a keyboard
nah im from england
oh
id highly recommend going with a topre board
they ARE more expensive than typical mx but theyre worth it
hmm alr
gimme 1 sec
@wheat warren this is the hhkb
WELL
that’s where my pro tips come in
do you like the layout
that’s why i showed u that
ctrl replaces caps lock position btw
yea its chill but why arent there keys in the bottom right and left
honestly i don’t really have an answer but it’s nice to be able to put your hands there and isn’t really a real issue
ok now for my pro tip
@fervent breach im also upgradign my keyboard rn but dont want to disturb, if ur free after helping plutonic here, i would be glad if u could @ me. dw if u cant tho 🙂
yea sure
the pro tip is to look for specifically hhkb professional 2's
on a proxy service for japanese used marketplaces
my pick is https://buyee.jp
look on mercari and yahoo auctions jp, they can be really cheap (especially charcoal models)
avoid pro hybrids cause theyre expensive
ok
and avoid kb02/kb01/lite models
because they suck and arent topre
theyre early 90s versions
you CAN get a classic or bt
but honestly a pro 2 is better
keep in mind youll need a micro usb type b cable if the listing doesnt include one
its a nice connector but theyre kindof uncommon
Ctrl is where caps lock is normally
for me in the uk
oh
(should be the same for u)
the board gets shipped to buyee warehouse
and then they ship it internationally to you
another day of topre recruiting I see
its really good but some people would rather not adjust
its wayyy better than corner ctrl
no
but
sometimes the seller will pay for shipping to the warehouse
its usually only like 5 dollars anyway
indeed
I think I would like an hhkb but its so overpriced
ill find you a good listing wait
It's absurd
id pay 500 usd for mine happily
theyre great
if you know hwo to get them cheap theyre well priced anyway
what keyboard u got
j wanna know cuz it might be good
paying like $200 for a plastic piece of garbage keyboard just for the switches being decent is absurd
I would recommend neo80 instead of what I have probably
thats act good
its really not piece of garbage lol
also by design plastic
yeah all hhkb's as far as I know
100 bucks
its pretty misunderstood
basicall
yeah
For it to still be so expensive is absurd
my Logitech keyboard is mainly plastic by design
how expensive do yo uthnk they are?
they're generally in the ballpark of $150-200
all of my hhkbs are cheaper than that
good for you
ok now were talking
the issue is knowing where to buy them
neo80 has an alloy chassis
me neither
its really funny how hyped up metal cases are
when in reality they dont do much for your keyboard
is it really hype to just want a thing made out of decent materials for the price
hhkb plastics are very nice plastics
if you want to clack, however.....
also again its by design plastic
for portability mainly iirc
but the sound is very nice
BUT if you want you can get aftermarket hhkb cases
which are gettign cheaper as time goes on
Shipping has to be terrible I imagine
like heavy grails are absurdly expensive
but im pretyt sure u can get a s60v2 for like 200 bucks new
which yes is a lot but its made by a random enthusiast
for me its 15 gbp with small package air
for the record I have a nuphy gem80 but if I knew the neo80 existed at the time I would've gotten it instead
and like 20 for ems
i mean it doesnt matter that much yea plastic is fine but man the finish and feel of alloy or steel j adds that next level premium touch
but ngl the one u send for 100 is compelling
i urge u to try it...
im pretty sure youre just looking in the wrong places ngl
I will try lubing and relubing my silent bluish whites to cope
if i bought from my local ebay id probably be like
1300 gbp down
instead of 350 down
for 3 hhkbs
keep in mind i have paid above 100 gbp for al l3 of mine
lowkey 150-200 isnt that bad though
oh wow you can buy the new ones on Amazon
its absurd when >neo80
neo80 uses mx
what typa switches does the japan keyboard use?
i mean theres plenty of mx boards that are way more expensive than topre boards
not gateron or cherry?
topre
yeah not gateron or cherry
that is hardly an argument
oh there own switches
did i not mention this
topre is the whole appeal of hhkbs
very renowned for great feel
and the silly layout
well theyre not their own
topre switches are made my topre corporation
who also make refrigerated trucks for some reason
weird japanese company
The hhkb?
yea
again
They're what you'd probably call semi silent tactile
Much more tactile than brown I hear
nah ur good
theyre not really comparable
oh
(brown may as well just be red)
they use topre switches which arent related to mx switches at all
yea i understood
they are tactile and a lot of enthusiasts agree that theyre very good
like peak good
like the best good
sorry for interrupting between the hhkb disucssion n all but look at this
how does this look
its a glorious keyboard
someones selling on marketplce
and hes done this stuff
Lubed Switches and Stabilizers
Foam Mod
hello ripster55
If the curve captures it at all
did not know ths much went into the making of a keyboard
LOL
Oh God
Hopefully it wouldn't be too mushy for me if I ended up buying an hhkb
its not really mushy
This is such a horrible legend
Who wrote this graph
i would not buy this btw
I would love if they made three dimensional force plane curves based on how fast you press
@wheat warren honestly i think u should just bite the bullet on the hhkb lol
its really worth it
I think it depends on the return policy
especially that listing even though i didnt look much
yea gotta convince my parents first
you can return it to your local ebay marketplace for like 150 or 200 bucks
theyre used to the 10 dollar logitech wirless bundles
what keyboard layout are you used to currently
It might take a bit of adjustment
rn im using this ergo logitech keyboard
i see
alice land
topre is a wildly different experience to mx btw
youll probably be pretty surprised by it
You may take a while adjusting to the hhkb layout
Because you don't have like any keys
i come from fullsize mainly
its pretyt easy
dyk if the one u sent is like tactile
or linear
im trynna get a tactile
topre is in fact tactile
They don't have any topre linears
It is extremely tactile for all I'm aware of
but it does take some getting used to
nah its great
Backspace is where \ is usualy
no function row so esc moved down
I use it constantly but I guess its on a layer there anyways
no you do
like if im gplaying gta and im on a plain
theyre under the fn layer
theyre reallly easy to use with the split right shift dw
Look at [;'/
like as easy as dedicated arrows
this was probably the worst example image lol
have yall tried the razer oragne switches?
razer make bad keyboards
I have a black widow v2 with them
i hate to say it
They feel like generic brown like switches
razer make bad keyboards
They're a bit pingy for some reason
Maybe mine are old
oh
i remember when they used kailh switches
Are yours optical
thats not his pic
I KNOW THOSE SWITCHES
THEYRE SO NICE
I've stopped liking clickjacket switches
i wish topre wasnt so uncommon man
My new friend is gateron melodic
clicky is so good imo
people dont get the chance to try it
if it werent for the sound
clickbar is good
it would be the best
gateron reds i actually had before
they suck
id rather have the apple membrane
but it was like a cheap hp mechanical keyboard
yeah I don't really like linears
apple keyboards pretty good tho so that’s not necessarily bad
It wasn't the fake mechanical one... Right?
idk but if i pull the keycaps i see red switches and they say gateron
i have the wireless one from a decade ago
its so nie
nie
nice
yeah

We don't hate hybrid membrane-mechanical keyboards, we hate when the box doesn't make it 100% clear that that's what you're buying. Despite th...
pretty much everything they’ve made besides the butterfly has been good (at least for its time)
One of the few ltt videos I've seen recently
thats the one i had 💀
im p sure
the apple magic keyboard is one of the few keyboards I've actively not liked using
