i actualy use cherry mx goons
no.
ok i have to tend to some linux isos
and some cyl gmk's
bye
bye
hmx scratchy
i wish to see you again
have a good one
im going to go to bed
lol ?
its 3:11 am
yeah i bought these "sonja" and they feel so scratchy for some reason
science cannot explain it
holy bunchsnop batman
we will never know the reason
buy v2u
i guess now it's my turn to scratch the switches
internally
hmx sonja is mid
who is it that said they like the scratchiness of their switches
think it was a diff server
they feel nice but the scratch is very inconsistent depending on pressing angle
just 3d printed a break in machine
the real enthusiasts buy scratchy switches just to spend countless dozens of hours making them smooth
bonus points if they're vintage
i also dump quartz sand over the keyboard with the keycaps removed and switches open
bonus bonus point if they are from west german
bonus bonus bonus point if they are brand new
bonus points for just buying oil kings
i then replace the feet and entire bottom of my keyboard case with nails
or whatever people like now
2022
no don't buy 2022 of them
any of you guys try the rusted spring mod on ur switches?
im curious what the jupiter bananas are like
i hear its just slightly worse baby kangaroos
i will probably never buy them
"Tactile (Similar to Panda switches)" but literally everything is these days
we even have "holy panda" linear switches
i am not googling that
mmd is an animation software
it sounds like a recipe for disaster
THOCKY
š®
uh
why is there a random outemu pear colored leg on my desk
how is that even possible
the invyr panda was a linear switch
know your history
Iām looking for a portable monitor for my Xbox series s, since I canāt play on the tv all the time and I donāt have room for a full tv. I want at least 120hz but itās so hard finding a good one. I have yet to find a 1440p one.
Possible???
no idea if it counts as a peripheral but i got a panasonic viera st60 yesterday and its arguably the best plasma made but its insane i love it :3
Are they good
alright turbo nerds, i need a very small CRT with composite input, like total width and height must be less than 12 inches.... turns out the denon amp i bought cannot be setup without a TV connection... suffering the pains of using flagship stuff from 1991
needs to have composite video
Ah, that was not part of the original request, so now you'll have to wait while I refine my search. (Or, you could also search eBay for "small CRT composite" and see what results are returned.) I am le tired. I must have a nap, then fire ze missiles.
any result that doesnt look like ass is like a 13 inch monitor with a bigass case
also i literally said very small CRT with composite input
ill probably run down to freegeek in the afternoon tomorrow
You are correct. I rescind my comment / my apologies - it's been a REALLY long day. Anywho, I serve you... something like this: https://www.ebay.ca/itm/396360356211
Small CRT TV's with composite are harder to find these days. Or are expensive. Or both.
yah i remember they wer all over when i was a kid
hell, finding the parts to fix our donkey kong was a nightmare
we ended up pulling the monitor out of a mario bros cabinet we had, the donkey kong was a red cabinet, obviously oworth significantly more
Wait, hold on... do you actually need a CRT? Or do you just need a way to view something over Composite?
sold them all recently though
i mean, for now no, i suppose i could get a composite to HDMI adapter for now
Well that, or get something like this so you can just connect it to a laptop. (There are a thousand of these on Amazon - just be wary of the REALLY cheap one's and one's without any warranty, as they're sometimes duds.)
https://hauppauge.store/product/610/
cool i could consider that
i gotta fix my IBM model M13 keyboard first
then focus on this
Yee. Much smaller than a CRT, half the cost, and you can re-use it later if you ever need to capture composite video from something, like a game console, VHS player, DV tape camera, etc.
end game will be setting it up as a display playing initial d clips, but till be a while before that
gonna put a mini-pc in a gamecube case or somethin to run it
What would be a good keyboard that looks ānormalā which to me is like the picture below. I was looking at keychron but I donāt like the key caps that much
ibm model m

Initial D clips? Pffff, no, you see comrade, you just put this playlist on repeat.

Sneakily soft-launching my patreon in the description of this video like 2 years later: https://patreon.com/vikasmusic
I have been permanently demonetized from youtube so any support on patreon would be greatly appreciated
I'm still stuck in 2012 back when Logitech's G710+ were around, so will defer to someone who's more up-to-date on the keyboard scene of today.
Realforce
unironically just pick a keyboard with a switch you like the sound of, preferably one thats not 4 bajillion dollars, dont be dumb like me and spend 700 dollars on a unopened IBM keyboard @timber zinc
High key
can always swap keycaps btw
i also only ordered a keychron because i thought itd look better with other keycaps
i have ruined 3 NOS IBM Model M keyboards lmao
This. So long as the stems are the same, can swap caps all day long. My G710+ currently has Razer's PBT Doubleshot caps because the original caps started to wear out and I'm cheap AF. š¤£
Is it difficult to swap them?
I kinda like that idea
no
yank one off
push a new one on
can get a 2$ keycap puller
So I'm planning on getting a mechanical keyboard. Given how hot swapping is a thing, is there really anything I need to decide when selecting a frame other than the key layout?
if ur going barebones (or not), look for software compatability like qmk/via, included sound dampening, whether its tray or gasket mounted, case + plate material.
polling rate and latency are good too
latency requires RTINGS or some other review tho
a lot of this stuff is about the pcb though
if you are going super duper diy a lot of this is in the air
I'm not doing anything with software or RGB, this is for my computer at work and I don't think I have access to any of those softwares.
well qmk/via lets you re bind keys or set up macros with a browser
that kind of thing
but for work just materials/mount type then
Got it, thanks. I might get a second keyboard for at home eventually (we're talking in a couple of years eventually), but I use my computer at work so much more so it makes sense to focus on that first.
gasket mounts are more flexy, tray is firmer, metal can be more reverby than plastic, yadda yadda
Oh. If I can access it via browser I should be able to use it then. Maybe.
atleast for like my keychron, you just plug it in, and allow the connection in the browser
How bad is the reverb, I wouldn't want to accidentally annoy my coworkers. I've never actually used a mechanical keyboard, so I don't really have a good frame of reference outside of LTT videos
depends on the board, keychrons Q series is a big offender
could always mod
if you wanna be quiet you could go for a plastic case with foam or sillicone and use silent switches
any key switches that arent intentionally silent are going to be substantially louder than most standard membrane or laptop keyboards
btw
or atleast sharper
most full travel linears or light tactiles should be fine tho if silence isnt like a top necessity
Modding might be a future consideration but if I don't need to I'd rather not until I have more experience with mechanical keyboards. Silence isn't a top priority, I just don't want to be a bother more than anything else.
i dont keep up with specific models because im new to this too
Any recommended places to get them or brand? I have never bought caps before
but like keychron is the default good enough and a lot of features board
tbh whatever looks good to you on amazon is fine
no probs with a set of 14$ keycaps i got on amazon
keep profiles in mind
cherry is like the standard but there are others
Profiles? Size?
keycaps have different shapes
depending on the row
most try to curve like a bowl
to make closer and further keys easier to hit
cherry and most others make more sense when you notice that most keyboards have some tilt
knobbie
I was looking at this keyboard so how do I tell what profile?
Keychron Q6 Max is a 100% layout full metal QMK/VIA wireless mechanical keyboard featuring 2.4 GHz and a 1000 Hz polling rate. Customize any key or create macro commands through VIA software as usual, and connect the Q6 Max with up to 3 devices through Bluetooth for seamless multitasking across Mac, Windows, and Linux.
profile is about the keycaps themselves
board doesnt really matter as long as it has south facing leds which keychrons do for the most part
also id recommend against the q6 max ngl as keychrons metal keyboards are waaay too pingy
and reverby
could give it some love tho
especially for the price it isnt grreaat
Keychron Q1 MAX Wireless Custom Keyboard
Switch: Gateron Jupiter
Keycap: Keychron KSA Double-shot PBT
00:00 Start
00:09 Gateron Jupiter Red
01:12 Gateron Jupiter Banana
02:14 Gateron Jupiter Brown
Product page: https://www.keychron.com/products/keychron-q1-max-qmk-via-wireless-custom-mechanical-keyboard
can get somehwat of a taste here
id assume bigger board might be slightly worse
its not a huge deal but it might be annoying to you
also ive hear much more reverb from other people recordings
ajazz ac0100 did the same
and cheaper
What is the difference between switches?
which switches
other switch means other sound
other type feeling
generally that
can get specific if u want
The red banana and brown for keychron for example
the reds are gonna be the lightest to start pushing
smooth, no bump
they are linear, small amount of tension feeling at the bottom, the quietest
Doesnāt bother me much and I donāt normally hear my keyboard anyways but thanks for the information
brown is gonna have a small bump mid way thru the press, slightly louder, slightly more force to press
https://vi.aliexpress.com/item/1005006594922054.html these has close to similiar quality to that q6
banana is gonna have a larger bump at the start, most force, loudest, shortest travel,
Okay, I think I have the info I need for now. I'll think about it and come back when I need to search through particular brands and models. Thanks ghost.
np
those plastic keychron is really hollow without foams
What would be most similar to this keyboard?
no
No this is the shit keyboard I have now
So which one is normally preferred for gaming or does it matter at all? I have a feeling I would find anything but liner kinda annoying
ur on a membrane, browns would be the closest feel
also it is literally all preference
i game with anything tbh, if its linears i live flatter linears like silvers or smoothies though
i like browns for gaming since they are still light enough and let you know you hit actuation, makes me more confident in spamming keys or whatever
some people like linears because less force to spam keys
I donāt like membrane that much. They feel like shit which could just be this keyboard I sorta phrased that question wrong. What do you mean by bump near the bottom? Like it gets stuck before it bottom out and you have to press harder?
which bump
.
starts smooth, then takes a little more force before gently snapping to the bottom
you dont feel the change in force unless you are actively trying
membrane rely on a rubber dome collapsing, its kind of the same vibe, but mechanical
skill matters not your keyboard
they give out better "experiences" but skill idts
the key kind of snaps to the bottom from the release of the subtle force after the bump
linears just go down
smooth
i personally violently hate feeling the tension at the bottom of linears that get more tense on the bottom out
like most reds
So brown would be like membrane and red would be no change in force the whole way down?
red would be linearly increasing force
but brown would be a cleaner, light membran kind of vibe
much cleaner
Ahh okay
i recommend browns to first timers
its like the safe option
its not too new of a feel, but still a much cleaner upgrade from membrane
this is the reds
from start to bottom youll need abt 15 grams more of force at the bottom
i find it gross
you might enjoy the tension and the smooth
top red btm brwn
Alright thanks for the recommendation. So if I decide to change the caps and I wanted to do say solid black what would I have to look up to get the right ones for the keychron for the rgb to shine through and everything? I was looking around and there is an over whelming amount of options
keychron doesnt really have rgb shine through
unless you get a side legend
the leds are on the bottom of the switch socket
for shine through youd need a side legen like this
but nah, just get some cherry profile keycaps that you like the look of
unless its god bad reviews itll prolly be fine
btw look for doubleshot pbt
takes longer to get greasy/smooth and is gonna be sturdier
So I donāt want shine through right? It wouldnāt look right I would assume if not side printed
yea dont go shine thru if you are getting a board with south facing leds
like basically every keychron
there is non side legend shine thru
its looks normal
like those gaming keyboard keycaps
side printed was a dumb thing all the time
i dont recall normal shine throughs looking good on south leds
i thought that was a whole thing
just get a pc board if u want rgb
he was asking about shine though keycaps
im just informing
also i like my south facing rgb tyvm
its not as awesome as shine thru but it adds a lot
solid dim purple
let me be happy with my board
but ye for a first mech id say start brown and you can get cheap like 35 switch sets to try other styles if you want to down the line
can replace your alphabet keys + a few other and get the vibe
indeed
we gotta raise our innerchild sometime
which one specificcally
So they make shine through key caps that can reflect the light to work with south facing? Just asking I play in a dark environment so I do find them useful and side printed just looks ugly AF to me
else he will end up with huano browns
i dunno man
Fair enough
Amazon.com: transparent keycaps
i can read my pink on black in the dark fine enough so im sure white on black is fine
you could always not
Good idea
ugly keycaps fr
HyperX PBT Keycaps are durable and feature our signature HyperX font, which is designed to let keyboard lighting shine brilliantly. These double shot PBT keycaps are thicker, more durable, and more resistant to solvents. The full key set is compatible with most HyperX mechanical keyboards* and mo...
So for example this are shine through
Will not shine through at all? I would fine with these
Since itās white
Sure
they will shine thru
Idk I wouldnāt mind if they arenāt fully brightness or not at all. Just trying to find keycaps like the ones Iām used too
the G is a lot dimmer irl btw
and it takes max brightness to noticably change color
ymmv
Ngl wouldnāt mind it
imo it just takes an obnoxious amount of side glow to have a point in the shinethru
you might not hate it tho
https://www.corsair.com/us/en/p/gaming-gear-accessories/ch-9911060-na/pbt-double-shot-pro-keycap-mod-kit-aca-a-onyx-black-na-ch-9911060-na are these o rings a good idea
I could deal with it kinda looks like what my shitty keyboard does now
for me the amount of glow between the keycaps being like 90% brighter than the shine though is straight up distracting
but feel free to play around
amazon returns exist
oring on keycaps will transfer ur fancy mechanical keyboard back to membrane
Thought so
gmk amethyst
im good with my 14$ keycaps
So would these work just dont use the rings?
Yeah they are optional just looked it up
Alright thanks for the help guys Iāll be looking at options.
Have fun with it
Iāll try
dont buy keycaps from gamer brands
u are buying the name only
Yea but itās only 30 bucks not too big of a deal. Plus I know someone that had these exact keys and I liked them so I know I will use them
šš
yes
30 bucks got u pbtfans
epbtfans etc
those are proper brands
and aifei
i got that u have tried it but there are always smth better
gmk buyers
(this is a joke for legal reasons)
u are about to trigger 548 elitists
i think i already did
SP DCS > OG Cherry dyesub > og cherry ds > GMK > CRP

Topre oem>>>>>>>>
How would you guys configure QMK (VIA in my case) in this scenario
I want, caps lock to have 2 different functions,
1, as caps lock.
2, as its own "FN" key
currently
Layer 0 = caps lock / caps lock
Layer 0 = FN / MO(2)
Layer 1 = caps lock / MO(3)
Layer 1 = FN / MO(2)
how could I put a TG to switch between layer 0 and layer 1
could Layer 1 FN be MO(4) to to then use the caps lock key to switch between Layer 0 and Layer 1?
I would like to use the caps lock key to intuitively toggle between Layer 1 and Layer 0
oh im overthinking the hell out of this.
I have these function keys that could just be dedicated switches instead
F13-24 can be replaced easily within MO2
sweet im all good then
idk if anyone cares about macro suggestions but the whole point of this shebang is....
caps lock-wasd / windows snap shortcuts, caps q / alt + F4
and caps-zxc app specific but
You guys should try it
caps-zxc could also be the virtual desktops shortcuts too
no brainer
What is the most reliable wireless headset mostly for gaming on pc? Audeze Maxwell has seemingly some iffy reviews and Iād rather keep it under $150. Iām considering the HyperX cloud III.

As with anything in life, there is no "best" thing in any one category, but if you want my recommendation, the Logitech G733's have been rock solid for the last 2.5 years I've had them.
You can use layer tap
Lt(x,keycode)
Toggle*
Layer x on hold, keycode on tap
LT(1,KC_CAPS)
If you put arrows on wasd on layer one, it would let you hold caps with pinky and arrow with wasd
Is that what you were trying to do?
this is exactly what ive needed thank you so much. Why this key is not presented in Via / KLauncher blows my mind
theres a lot more untapped potential here
still need the windows key for the snap shortcuts in this instance.
I think I need to stick with macros here
you mean screenshot?
KC_PSCR will trigger print screen, which can be tied in windows to launch the clipper tool
or you mean like the left and right windows snapping
or tell me what you are trying to get qmk to do
what switches were better was it linear or tactile I forgot
currently running boba u4t's and I'm planning on switching to Gateron Milky Yellow Pro's
going from tactile to linear
I have a chance to get 110 pcs of them for 20ā¬

well thats a downgrade

the milky yellow pro's are prelubed and i'm running the boba's unlubed since idh the time and patience for that
back then 1 boba can buy 4 milky yellows
better kept those boba
if u think milky yellows worth it then give it a try
Is the G Pro Superlight good?
or is there something better thats not 180$ š
I have this right now and I think its good, but my reviever likes to be dumb, but it is 2.4Ghz and there are a ton of networks in my vacinity that could be causeing issues
Also the Pulsar PCMK 2 HE TKL looks pretty good for the cost
If I get a bluetooth dongle, how can I check what bt version it is?
should be on packaging
can check device manager ot verify
to
Do you guys have any peripherals or peripheral upgrades you think are must haves or should be first things to change
That depends on what you have rn
Fair point, I can post what I have rn but I more so was wondering what people first like to upgrade
should be in the advanced tab
Uhhhh
try to get the right drivers for it first
That would be great if I knew where to get them from
assuming you tried windows update already
you have a picture of the dongle?
no logos on it with a company name?
no logo, just a white text saying V5.0
i fixed it, i had to disable the integrated bluetooth of the laptop and afterwards the advanced tab had the data
it's bt 5.3 according to the firmware version
thank you for the help <3
ahhh, nice
anyone have any idea of nice black keycaps for my keychron k2, the legends should be shine through for the keyboard backlighting, and if the function keys have the right media key symbols on them thats a huge bonus, not a requirement tho, im in the uk
anything specific?
puddings is a keycap style
there's a bunch of listings but afaik they all come from the same factory
yeah i just googled it, its like the keycap is entirely transparnet right
no
translucent skirt around the cap, black top, shinethrough legends
gskill produces something similar that IS transparent, but i don't know if it comes in ISO
not produces, sells
called crystal crowns
i want the whole keycap to be solid black, and just the legend be shine through
Does it have south facing or north facing leds
how do i tell
is the led at the top or bottom side of the switch
the top
The stock ones are shine through too, right
yeah but i want black ones now instead of the stock grey ones
holding on š
Keychron sells this
I think that might be one of the only double shot pbt options without going for gaming
iso
thats us site, any chance u can find the listing on uk version?
im so lost using their website
is your enter key a rectangle
uh no, its a
upside down L
idek how to describe it, lemme take a photo
it's an ISO enter
yeah
The UK keychron website sucks
Thanks I think I realised š
Itās a struggle
can u find the best listing on those websites then
mechsupply probabably wouldn't have keycaps like that I don't think actually
idk if I can be of much help for UK because idk what stores exist
not many to be completely honest unfortunately š
overclockers? ebuyer?
I wonder if aliexpress has something
ali has everything
thats a bit of a gamble
maybe this @wintry bough https://www.amazon.co.uk/Glorious-Gaming-Translucent-Mechanical-Keyboards/dp/B0F14K498Z
lots of 1u options so you can have the right legend'd key along the right
in the right profile
why is it ascend rather than enter š
that's so hilariois
i do NOT want to ascend š¤£
Ascend is their branding or w/e
its the best one ive seen so far i think, only thing is the mis matched media keys š
ngl that's going to be a tough pull
yeah
can i rebind the media keys š
no its built into the keyboard right?
I never know what to use this key for, itās technically a screenshot button but Iām more than capable of windows shift s
j believe on that keyboard you can't rebind
You can on the newer ones
aw man š
Do you have a listing for what you bought?
its the white led backlight version
bc i was a lil stupid and didnt read the full listing
this is so much chaos its almost worth getting a new keyboard
which i genuinely could do as i have a birthday next month
any ideas? š
i rly wanna still have media keys, i like my brown switches but maybe something that feels a bit more clicky to type on as this feels a bit more mushy despite being mechanical? i rly like the idea of having proper rgb backlights rather than white ones, and i would love if the keyboard stuff and lights n stuff was controllable via a software or something
Wdym by it being kinda mushy
It feels soft on the bottom?!
no not soft
like i want it to feel a bit more clicky
it just feels like its mushing into plastic when the keys bottom out, i want it to be more clicky if that makes sense
Hmm that's weird because normally it shouldn't feel mushy, plastic is solid
You can get clicky switches
yeah maybe i need clicky switches
but then that makes them so much louder right
i dont want them to be like excessively loud
Your board is hot swap
clicky as in literally clicky or do you just want more tactile feedback
thats true but i still cant rebind the media keys š
like i want it to feel more clicky under my fingers
like not mouse click level of clicky tho?
but like closer to mouse click than it is rn
you could try gateron melodic maybe
according to chatgpt, the actual switches on my keyboard r soldered
not hotswappable
i thought it was hotswappable
ima dig deeeper i dont trust chatgpt
i was right, chatgpt was wrong
Don't listen to chatgpt
well its not always all bad

Outemu Spring ...
melodic is at the end
is there anything that is more clacky sounding but clicky feeling?
everything clicky feeling is gonna have a chirpy sound
I think that's the only way to create the click feel
oh man keyboards r so complex
I wonder if ceramic keycaps would tone it down but that's kinda a silly thing to buy
There is a big rabbit hole, honestly go look at some reviews and most do a sound test
You can also use the keeb finder site, it has some basic filters and a decent amount of filters on there
Also whatās your budget
Some tactiles feel snappy
Such as?
Okay so options exist
Went to a keyboard dedicated server
Now looking at not getting shine through keycaps
Keychron Q3 Max, with some sort of sharp panda-like switch (undecided on switch yet), with these keycaps https://www.keychron.uk/products/double-shot-pbt-osa-full-set-keycap-set
What do you think of the weighting on your (I think gateron g pro) browns?
Stop it.
Itās not bad, but I would prefer the panda like switches as they have the bump closer to the top
chatgpt knows shit about peripherals
Update, keyboard selected, Q3 Max, keycaps selected, Double shot PBT OSA keychron keycaps in āwhite on blackā (black keycaps, white legends), Iām still undecided on what switches tho, looking for a tactile panda-like switch with the bump at the top of the key press, more of a deeper thocky sound is ideal
Looking to be a nice upgrade so far from my current K2 white backlight version
ChatGPT can fuck off
Okay I think I get it guys thanks š
It should not be a habit to research with ChatGPT
pansy everglide v2
Oh those sound good but theyāre a little light
Maybe closer to 60g actuation force? Those are around 40g
u can spring swap
Iām somewhat limited in hardware interaction capabilities, that seems complicated š
simple as it is
u take the swithch âprt and throw in the springs
then clip it back
And I have to do that like almost 90 times
A TKL has almost 90 keys right?
Looking at getting the Q3 max
I counted 88 myself with my eyes on the Q3 but I donāt trust my counting
87-88
depends on the layout
f12 or f13
neo80 > q3 idk why u get the keychron
chatgpt ?
Hello. Need suggestions for a good quality wireless mouse with a simple, inconspicuous design like the Logitech Superlight, but with a durable scroll wheel that doesn't break in 6 months, unlike the Superlight.
Hi does someone have like 150 bucks so I can buy ceramic keycaps (JOKE)
Sure, bro, just send front and back pictures of your credit card so I can mail it directly (jk)
LMAO
https://www.cerakey.com/products/two-toned-ceramic-keycap-set-v2?variant=43156390477963 these look so nice and no one will be able to change my mind
I have the first gen of this mouse, never had issues, how did the scroll wheel break?
Havenāt ever had issues with mine
Got mine back in Dec 2023
about 7-8 months after I bought it the scroll wheel started going both ways when scrolling one way. The issues are intermittent so when I took it to the store it was working and they said they'll send it for "repairs" but it will be rejected.
The issue has slowly gotten worse
Only issue Iāve had is the grippy stickers collect dust round the edges
That seems like a lemon to me
Do u play any games or do any tasks that are particularly strenuous on the scroll wheel?
iirc 98% of those chinese budget mouse looks like spl
now 2 years later I can barely scroll on a page.
The "hack" where you turn it off and start spinning the scroll wheel, only solves the problem for 30 minutes.
That may have made it wear faster
buy gmk ( this is a joke too )
will their scroll wheel last?
By using the mouse I guess
haven't dropped it, haven't thrown it, haven't spilled anything on it.
when I googled this there are a lot of people complaining about this issue on the Superlight btw
Great mouse otherwise, good sensor, comfy, simple look. I just want to be able to scroll pages again without the page jittering up and down.
look up those vxe mouse
people will recommend attackshark too, but i wont personally
look into the gateron type-r perhaps, the entire travel is a bump
a lot of people like it and the weighting should be good for you
you could spring swap something but there's 10000 switches in that 60-70g bottom out range
you could probably find something
Oh those seem good
I like the look of those
(Not in a literal visual sense, you know what I mean)
So now Iām stuck between the Gateron type r and the everfree greyish
sorry for the late reply. Why wouldn't you recommend it?
Also, I didn't specify this, but I'm not necessarily looking for a budget option. As long as it's good.
terrible mcu
my friend had a r1 it died in 3 months lol
Yeah... The main thing I want is reliability...
Anyone able to suggest an ergonomic chair? Been looking for a couple weeks but cant really decide. Tryna get best bang for buck
Some said to get one off amazon, others said to get a used known brand on eBay.
My budget was £100 max but was willing to up it to about 150 to get a better quality one that will hopefully last longer.
I'm in the UK if that helps with recommending any
Only thing I can think of that I might benefit from is a compact wheel base as I've got a little bit of a tight space on the left side of where the chair will be, but the rest of the build should be fine
Yall I need an actually good TKL keyboard worth the money budget is around 200-400
100 for an ergo chair ??
do u want a prebuilt
Wdym?
prebuilt or custom built keyboard
Prebuilt Iām guessing
evo80
nothing else
maybe some keycaps change if you are like me and think those are ugly
Okay and for a custom ?
depends
I had to look up what those ment lol
custom complicated the problem a bit
Oh ?
it came down to what layout do you want
what sounds do you want them to gave out etc
aesethics
alot of elements
here are the basis
Oh boyā¦
That's why I said I could stretch to 150, if it makes any difference I don't know. Otherwise, what are my options? I was told gaming chairs are shit and to get an ergonomic
So not sure what you'd recommend outside of that and within that budget, but if it's just a gaming chair ideally dont wanna spend 150
these might help
Yea idk abt the custom lol
thats like a lot of uh thinking and
A prebuilt should be just as fine
Right?
a lot of 'custom' keyboards are prebuilt
Idk if the custom label is super descriptive tbh
Mmm
So @worldly garden in your opinion evo80 is the best TKL keyboard for gaming
if you want something technically "best for gaming" imo you need a 500$+ keyboard case and a 60$ venom he tkl pcb
and those switches adds up a bit
š
how
isnt he is the best for gaming bao š¤
idk
you can get cheaper he keyboards
But also isn't the whole advantage of he now considered a cheat
that quick tapping what ever thing
idk if u watch cs 2 esports
I do not
maybe they have it disabled
regular keyboard but you can configure the actuation point
How much is your budget
...
idk if u can do that on mech
switches have different trigger points
yeah I mean I was saying maybe they're just using HE as if it was normal
Because I'm pretty sure the quick tapping thing is banned in cs
Oh no
That was just the "snap tap" thing where it can cancel strafing keys
oh wait you did say that
how's it compare to like neo80, I've seen a lot of people raving about the neo series
Or is the neo not prebuilt
First one was from a company named staples which looks pretty decent but Im in the Uk
no i forgot to put that in the thing lol
compare in what
And if an ergonomic isnt worthit at 150, what are the options?
against the evo
in what element
Unless the neo isn't prebuilt then that's not a good optiom
value? quality? everything
yea alot of people said to get the Wooting 80HE
tigerlite gaming
wtf is that 80he layout that's terrifying
or Keychron V3 Max
Mmmm okay
@worldly gardenhttps://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0DJLW99T6This is one that I was recommended
Only 2 reviews tho
u have 200 for a keyboard and u are buying a keychron
nah
soo the wooting 80HE
yeah cause keychron is slightly expensive š§
i cant access thoƩ lol
not at all compared to my recs
that keyboars like $80 lol
It needs switches I believe
Tiger Lite Gaming The inception of the Tiger Lite Gaming project stems from a dedicated community of ABS plastic case enthusiasts. These users seek a lightweight alternative that offers a distinct acoustic profile and typing experience compared to traditional aluminum Keyboards. With the Tiger Lite Gaming, we have metic
kbdfans do provide add on switches
And key caps
how ? because wooting is overpriced all the time
where is the ergo part but the headrest lol
Lol I don't know what im looking for this is just what someone here suggested the other day
I've been tryns look around but can't find much. And if I csnt grt one for my budget then not sure what to look at cos people have said gsming chairs are shit
Yea someone told me the neo80
if u want to build a custom i will choose neo80 over evo80
ok
SIHOO M18 Ergonomic Chair is another one I keep seeing pop up around the range I was gonna spend
Dang itās unavailable anyways
used market ?
???
how about the sihoo m57?
wow that is way over the budget
the m18 instead I guess
155.99 on their site
Only a couple quid more than the m18
yea that's the one
having a look at reviews, someone said it has sideways wobble but they got sent a replacement part to fix it and it stopped happening
Think Ill just grab the m57
Comes to 145.99 with a discount code
Picked that one up, hopefully it's good cos I'm fed up of a shitty wooden chair with 2 pillows š
Thank you
Is the Logitech g915 TKL the good keyboard for gaming ?
Decided on new keyboard:
- Barebones Keychron Q3 Max
- Keychron Double Shot PBT OSA Keycaps in dark black
- 90x Everfree Grayish switches
the newer x version has much more durable keycaps
and is better
but if you want a low profile gamerboard its basically one of the very few options
at a certain point it's all preference
if you enjoy using your board and it isn't actively making your gaming experience worse, then it's a good board
i decided on a keyboard, keycaps and switches combo
i saw š
sorry didnt mean to reply or ping š
no is k š
- Keychron Q3 Max (scams me out of Ā£17 as UK iso version isnāt available in barebones)
- Ghost Judges WoB keycaps
- Everfree Grayish switches
changed keycaps
shinethrough is hard to find in the hobby
and also changed keyboard as the previous one wasnt iso UK layout
idk why š
puddings already exist
there's a couple of old chinese manu'd SA sets that are single color with shine through
pom jellies do rgb quite well
generally can find that sorta thing on aliexpress
Ā£257.07 on a keyboard, kinda crazy
its because most people don't care about shine through legends anyways, either the room.is bright or you touch type
And north facing LEDs are incompatible with many low keycap profile
Yeah fair enough
inb4
That's just for indicators

Lock indicators but also those aren't common either
i need one of those for the caps lock on my rainy 75 since it's almost impossible to tell if it's on with the stock keycap
ong
You can tell by typing
skill issue
@wintry bough oh i just found out about these, have you considered the kailh box mute jade
apparently they're clicky but with less sharp of a sound/chirp
kalih box went with muting when
That sound is terrible, just watched a vid review on them š
keyboard noob here, previously i always use the volume knob to adjust volume. now that I'm trying keyboards without a knob, what is the easiest way to adjust volume? The fastest way I can think of is to set FN+arrow keys, is there anything better?
what keybaord do u have rn
drunkdeer a75 pro, bought the melgeek made84 pro on the way
use your keyboard
keymap app
remap it in somewhere fits you the most
So I want to try new switches in my keyboard. I have currently keychron k pro red switches. But I was thinking of buying gateron milky yellows. But the thing is, I'm scared it's gonna be too similar to what i currently have. So can anyone tell me if it's different enough, and if it's not, give me another option please...
what i would do is
find a store that will sell you gat yellows in like a 10 pack or in singles
get a few, swap out like 5-10 keys and see if you like it
that way your investment amount stays low
if you live in the US, flashquark out of new york sells gat milky yellows in singles
pick up some other singles witches while you at it to see if you wanted to try anything else
I'm from belgium lol haha. And a 110 pack is only like 23 bucks...
i have those!
you can order from germany fine then right?
keygem carries 10 packs
Is key gem German or what?
Which of those 2 would you recommend?
I'm not going to lube them myself so would i pick up the pros?
It's 7 bucks on shipping so it's already 10 bucks for 10. Wouldn't I be better of buying 110 for 23 bucks then?
ah
And it even comes in a bottle?
bottle costs nothing, just convenient if you don't have another way to store things. ziplocs work fine
if you not going to bother lubing, go with milky pro
a lot of it all boils down to preference
Yeah but bottle is fancier and nicer then ziplock bhahaha
the things that aren't preference are like, if you need cutouts for LEDs, 3 vs 5 pin, etc
Yeah I know
clear top for rgb, etc
Could the milky pro yellow be 3 or 5? Or is it always the same?
And what is it?
5 pin is preferable if your pcb supports it for the switch to stay straighter, sometimes with softer plates the switch can get a lil crooked
i spent like 4 hours cutting up my plate and sanding my new stabs to get them to fit
but i did it
now have tx ap v4 in my keychron v3 max
anyone here have any experience with flashing keymaps to a QMK keyboard? specifically im using a framework laptop 16 and am trying to flash some keybinds to my macropad but the commands i used before have either changed or maybe i missed one?
oh hey iroh
i thought i recognized your name from the framework discord server lol
hey guys im looking for a keyboard for gaming and quite a lot of typing , im looking for something with low profile (if possible), must be TKL and i want clicky switches with strong tactile feedback
cant believe im not recognized
all i can think of for iroh is the rog azoth but thats 75%
i checked it and the price is not worth it for what u get
do you think i should build my own keyboard?
could always customize a
-# ||keychron||
theres the nuphy air keyboards
but they have a habit of
š„
isnt that illegale to sell then?
its a shame considering how good they seem
#1, chinese company
#2, consumer protection is fake
#3, its not wide spread enough to force them to do something other than say it's user error or some bs
chinese company is not equal to bad quality
their non air keyboards are pretty decent but their low profiles have battery swelling issues
yep
dont have much in mind
not clicky
but it does have the tactile feedback
i have one of those and i like it tho
its a bit on the noisier side but its not like total gamerboard shit
i have the logitech g413 tkl SE
and idk
something lacks there
the tactile feedback
feels off
idk how to explain it
it has gx brown switches
i currently got a MSI keyboard with white low profile clicky switches
and i quite like it
but the keycaps are breaking apart
idk how you daily clickies
i think the "off feeling" i have is from it not being a low profile keyboard
yeah i made a mistake there
i thought tactile and clicky
had the same feedback feeling
i just thought
clicky = sound + feedback
tactile = no sound + same feedback
im gonna return the g413 tomorrow
my focus was screwed up lol i recognize ya
personally i prefer the tactile ones with the full travel, whichever switches were on the corsair keyboard that came with the bfcm backpack sale
ic
although that one ive been having issues with it repeating keys, like a key bounce problem or something
depress this spring arm
and release it to click
whereas this is how most tactiles work
left is tactile stem
different feeling
yeah so i need clicky for sure
but with my current clicky keyboard i feel like the feedback is not enough
clickies usually have a "cleaner" feedback because they are able to get away with more noise
is it because of the switches or is it because its hard to pull off the feedback on a lowprofile keyboard
prolly 50/50
yeah i want that "cleanerness"
ive hear great things about kailh box jades from clicky enjoyers so full size with a wrist rest might be the play
its what i do
part of it could also be that most tactiles like the logitech are brown
those barely have a bump
something more prominent might interest you more
like baby kangaroos (im using rn)
yeah i heard ppl say they are basically linear
clickleaf >
i currently got kailh white switches low profile
is there a way to see how much feedback they give?
compared to like other switches
yes
where
force graphs
this is the best one i could find for yours
"bump" of increased force shows it
heres a gateron low profile blue
to compare
vs a brown
is the bump of mine considerd to be high or low?
is it high feedback or low feedback
to me they feel like low feedback
well based on a quick gander id say it looks a lot smaller than a gateron blue
so that checks out
you can see with yer eyes
on the graph
white
vs blue
so im probably gonna be happier with the blue one
would be very noticably stronger
because i get pain from my current ones after hours of gaming and typing
what kinda pain
i dont know if its because of the mini impacts my fingers get when i fully tap out the keys
after some time it feels that the keys are heavy
if its sore, prolly the switches
if its pain, we got an ergonomic issue (more likely)
i would say sore more
