explain my 12 year old custom still being used with the original pcb then
Because basically all keyboards are unlikely to fail at the pcb
They're incredibly simple circuits
that is simply not true
i had 2
Which is why people in this hobby obsessing over PCBs like these are the circuits running industrial power plants is crazy
what....
i obsess over the stuff i spend thousdands of dollars on yes
my bad ill not do that

Obsess over relevant factors then
the pcb is relevant you knob
is his money, let him be
With PCBs you're obsessing over the fight to lowerchance of RMA from one in x thousant to one in x thousand and one
enjoy your cheap china slop
on god
if you want smth that works
He can do what he wants
a logitech k120 works
dont argue with my opinion then
and thats one of the best p/p keyboard u can find
opinions are like assholes, everyones got one and they usually stink
I'm just saying giving PCB this much attention and pretending like there is any relevant difference here in quality is like someone in the PC community obsessing over the difference in lifespan between air coolers
youre spending as much or more money than they are replacing your dogshit products
youll see it eventually
You'd think someone's crazy if they were arguing to pay more to get a noctua cause they use 15 micron thicker copper on their heat pipes so over the millennia it will withstand corrosion from the moving air slightly better
And that's basically what this discussion is
i will enjoy my flagship pc with noctua cooling thanks
Except it's being done without even the one maybe fact included in the analogy
It's being done off feelings and emotion
I can say whatever I want
cringe ass mf
If you choose not to listen that's on you
Believe me
I'm all for spending whatever you want on a hobby
It's just imo an irrelevant non factor people in the keyboard hobby latch onto about PCB's
not up to you to debate with people
And they do so without understanding the minute details that make up this non factor
newsflash nobody cares aboout your opinion as much as you think they do
When you obsess over a non factor it also makes it look like the hobbyist are all just coping
the things you say get screenshotted and memed on in enthusiast discords you are aware of that right?
When you focus in on actual factors it helps show people why the hobby is worth investing in
ah yes my bad I will focus on the colour and not what makes it type
apologies king
I have 20 year old dell membranes that still work
thats cool

If they work out the box the only failure point of relevance is re ic's which are under minimal stress
Not very convincing when you tell someone they should pay thousands to get a keyboard that will out live that dell by a month on average
invest ? we are here having** fun** by spending our hard earned money over it
not to profit off it as the main focus
dont shit on people for having nice things
That is much more compelling
not good looks
u sounds like kvetinky when i disapprove his ali keycap set lol
couldnt imagine yapping this much in a discord full of normies who arent connected to the hobby. you should go yap in enthusiast discords
"not all people is rich" and "keycap is keycaps"
I'm just trying to be logical here
mmm smelly barbeque someone will be roasted
Value should come from tangible things
they should argue with the people in kbd
or some other enthusiast discord
Not from a near schizophrenic level fear of a slight increase in failure rates based on nothing more than a gut feeling
yeah fr lets take this to kbd biooc
theyre in your walls biocc
And if there is an identified issue, I do actually believe in informing people about it
Not over or under blowing it
But informing people of that issue
ur blowing rn dude
For example, let's say imaginary PCB runs 5v to a 3.3v controller
That'd be worth telling people
they are in your walls
Idk, I'm not the one chalking up the whole hobby to a fight for 1 fewer unit failed per thousand
@worldly garden BIOCC kbd regular when
i couldnt imagine hiding your shit takes behind normie discords where people dont know better and wont call you out on your bullshit
I say the same things in every discord
you get laughed out of them
Pc hobbyist discords are just more likely to think of things in a logical way so fewer people will jump to the defense of company pandering and baseless arguments
im talking about keyboards pal
It's just a more developed hobby with a better sense of the market
Keyboard hobby rn is in the state the PC hobby was in like 2016-17
this gives me "i entered the hobby last year" vibes
he wont last 30 seconds in geon discord
In a bit of a boom with a lot of competition, but people are squandering it to focus in on how important brands are and these semantic baseless ideas of qc and failure rates being bad on anything that isn't the biggest brand
keep dreaming in budget keeb land
In the next few years you'll notice reviewers like keybored start becoming more popular and people will focus more on things that are objective
Same thing happened in the PC hobby
that has already came and gone
not hard to tell how long youve been here
pc review channels are also dead memes too now
Gamers nexus started gaining traction along with resources like psu tier list and as people gained easier ways to be objective, they started just... Being objective
GN has been in the space a lot longer than that
He has
strawman is grasping at straws
who woulda thunk it
this is regarding keyboard pcbs
But he became much more influential and as a result gained more of an ability to dig deep within I want to say the last 5ish years
i dont give a fuck about pc hobby
Do you know what that is?
thats funny because I stopped watching GN like 5 years ago
It's taking your argument and misrepresenting it as something easier to argue against
Idk where on earth you got that from me stating the PC hobby has become more objective due to better resources and information
you are late
they did after covid
thats the root of all the budget chinese keyboard ass
No, keyboard hobby just became more competitive
Not more objective
its not competitve
Kinda like the PC space during the pascal era
the people who know whats good know whats up
its competitve in the cheap china slop where people making them dont give a fuck about the hobby and all they want it money
is money*
they dont apply the moore law here buddy
is not cpu's
the people who care about the hobby and the people in it are making good shit for pennies on the dollar because they care
i called up nuxros yesterday
he told me about running gbs and stuff
ooo
Everyone wants money
biocc you should design a keyboard and run it
Sooner you realize companies aren't working for you the better
companies?
im talking about the designers
this tells me you know absolutley nothing about how the hobby works
I agree there are better and worse designers though
So focus in on the objective reasons
Not the "it came to me in a dream" reasons
so the cheap china slop
that nobody but you and kids with birthday money care about
Maybe so, so focus on tangibles and make a real point š
A tangible is things like feel, sound, materials, sight, etc
Not "I imagine it has PCB issues cause it's Chinese" (gives alternate option contracting another Chinese factory)
Tangibles things can be subjective in preference
my preference is to not see you type bs you have no experience in
have a nice day biocc
Same as in PC space
š
š
My wants might lean to multi core and yours might lean to single core
Both can be broken down and then people can find what they want
yours is multi core celeron, his is an i9
@patent belfry you could be entirely right about something being a bad option and something else being better, but it doesn't matter if you focus in on arguing about how you have a gut feeling it has a bad PCB rather than the objective reasons why it might be good or bad. Does this make sense?
You wouldnt take someone's tech advice very seriously if they said get a 4090 cause they know in their gut the 7900xtx will all fail and break cause it came to them in a dream
But if they showed you benchmarks demonstrating the 4090 is faster you might take them seriously
who are you speaking to? weve stopped listening
people who speak the most say the least
If you choose to ignore what I'm saying that's chill
š
Maybe someone else will read it and realize the obvious
what am i reading ? braille ?
feels like it dud
love me some thocky keyboards
@bitter oar is this a fair take?
especially with flex cut pcbs bad firmware, hotswap, foam and spray coated alloy!
oh dont forget GASKET MOUNT!
ball catch, magnetic connection
OH yeah this too
What's crazy is I'm not even disagreeing with y'all's advice, just criticizing the basis you use when giving it.
honorable mentions are PVD WEIGHT
imagine messaging kvetinky for social reassurance on the internet
he went out , touch some grass and did some volunteer
u should too
he learns from his mistake
Hey guys I'm looking for an aluminum 65% keyboard that's gasket mounted, has pom plate, flex cut pcb, rainbow pvd weight and a knob. My budget is $15
asking people for reassurance in your argument tells me you arent certain about what youre dreaming up
nice L dude
aka call for reinforcements
wee woo wee woo
Not really. I'm just asking for a non biased opinion
@worldly garden i got a beige deskmat
oh really
So you're thinking everything is an attack and are acting overly emotional and defensive
When like I said
ooo classy
youre the one still yapping biocc
I'm not even attacking your recs
weve moved on
Just criticizing the basis you use when giving them
@patent belfry when everything's calmed down I would like for you to go back and read what I stated
You'll realize I'm not attacking you like you seem to think
he is laughing in your face
I'm just criticizing some pretty objectively bad tendencies in giving advice
i dont think i will
That tie back to the state of the hobby rather than to you personally
i have my opinions
That's the thing, I don't think you actually disagree
I think you're just in this defensive mindset so you aren't processing what I'm saying, instead thinking I'm after you or something
Cause tldr, I'm basically just saying advice and discussion should focus on facts rather than non tangible nonsense and made up statements
Not something I think you or any sane person would disagree with
feet replacement time!!
That bottom case and weight look amazing
How much did that board end up costing you?
950 after shipping, minus the build + keycaps
On the more expensive side, but seems really well machined
What material is the weight?
sts
Yoooo that looks really cool!
Is this saying USB 4.0 is a Requirement of using my keyboard if I don't use USB?
Also...backlit key lettering when the keys themselve are white is really stupid...
Also, not letting me use the USB C port for a wire mode is also stupid...
I'm glad I only payed 9 dollars for this thing
just plug it n and u will be fine
and this has nothing to do with usb 4.0 since they doesnt exist
bluetooth 4.0 is an old tech so anything should be compatible
That's where you're wrong. Appearently this device doesn't support wired mode. It specifically says the USB port is strictly for charging.
what keyboard
such dumb design
Razer Pro Type
no
keyboards can't even saturate usb 2
its saying you need atleast bluetooth 4.0
Wow. I can't read...
Anyway. This thing is going in a drawer in a few minutes. I'm switching back to my Das Keyboaard
that one was 10 dollars. Much better quality.
Have you ever seen a Logitech keyboard?
low profiles
nuphy
lofree
maybe keychron
This looks good though ngl
This looks ideal
those aren't chiclet
Chiclet?

sounds nice
Pretty sure quiet key is membrane...
looks sick ngl i love old keyboards
beige keyboards are the best keyboards
spacebar is a lil sad but i think its just a stabilizer thing i can probably fix it
rod? does it have the pin style?
I can now say I have keychron v1 every possible chance
And I can also say, and it's the worst sounding non gamer board I've heard
But it actually synergizes really well with my milky yellow switches crazily enough
But still ends up sounding bad with them imo
refurbing this keyboard, do yall like lubed (left) or unlubed? i canāt decide if i want a smooth muted sound or a scratchy but classic sound
ok so im looking to build a keyboard with these caps (https://www.thekapco.com/products/thekapco-x-peanuts-snoopy-keycap-set?variant=47874248769769) im not looking to spend to much but im not sure exactly where to start.
im looking for a 100% keyboard thats wireless with RGB

Hey guys so im currently using the Jupiter Bananas on the KeyChron v1 Max. So I want something that's thwompy and i hate to use this term but thoccy.
But I'm currently deciding on the Akko V3 and the Akko Rosewoods, So I was wondering which one would you guys suggest? Also if there's any other switches I should look into before making the final decision. And please let it be on amazon. thanks!

Sounds like ass
Feel like ass
And the build quality is cheap
get a new keyboard ffs
Hello just asking do I need electrical tape for keychron Q2 pcb or just any tape of my choice? (First time modding a keyboard)
painter/masking tape
Ty
3m masking tape
You got a q2 it are you thinking of getting one? Cause if you don't already have it get almost anything else, but if you already have one, go hard on tape and dense foam mods tbh
If you really want to improve it buy a brass weight to mount with resin
bro this thing was 2.50 lol idc if i can find better this thing is practically free
no way u are fucking serious
Hey y'all
A while ago, I bought a g pro kda keyboard, it had everything I wanted, it was TKL, had lightsync and had Brown switches. It started having some problems, and the warranty offered me a g513 carbon for free and I accepted it. That was a good decision?
return it both
buy smth not logi
I don't see any problems with Logitech tbh, besides it being expensive, I guess. I never had any issue besides some leds dying in the g pro
Had g203 for years and after that I bought a g502, both of them work as expected
like g pro should be like 40 bucks
I am getting a keyboard for free
Due to faulty leds
I've seen the g513 also has a double click issue, but I saw on Reddit that it can be solved on windows control panel
So I guess it ain't that bad
a lot of logi mice/boards have double click issues
I mean the keyboard
they might be talking about the debounce delay
adds more latency to the keyboard
Eh, any way I bought the g pro for half the price on a promotion, and got a keyboard for free, so I guess it ain't a bad choice accepting it
If is that bad I can maybe use them both, one for gaming and one for gaming or smth
sell the one u just goy
and buy smth else
nah just escape this channel get farr away from this hobby
As a Brazilian resident, no one got money to buy keyboards, and for my experience Logitech is far from that bad
Most of the things I bought on promotion, which is the price of kinda bad keyboards, like reddragon ones, that are kinda just white labels for the same price I paid
thocky keyboards
do any of you know any keyboard cases that are compatible with the Drunkdeer G65?
none
double clicking is an issue on most mice, youāll see it more often on logitech mouses because of the number of the mouses existing
logitech doesnāt have increased chance of having double clicking issue per mouse
or may have but itās insignificant enough that itās unlikely youāll have the issue
oh, g513 keyboard, i misread that for a mouse, welp, same thing applies to keyboards as well
it usually happens when the contacts inside the switch are damaged or when the switch rebounds and the mouse registers it as another click
A good pcb is ruined
In what way?
It's now equal to having a heavier thicker PCB
Good luck taking it out without making any damage tho
it's hotswap so no
It's a permanent mod
Why would I want to remove them
As I said
U said what
It makes the PCB much heavier and it makes the PCB as a result sound lower pitched
No reason to undo that
If you swapped a thin cheap board to a much thicker and heavier one you wouldn't be thinking about how easily you can move back to the cheaper thinner one
WhatGeek x Ajazz AC100 vs qwertykeys QK100 vs Keychron v6 max vs keychron q5 max vs Thekapco PLAY 1800 vs monsgeek M5
qk100
is it worth the extra cost over the rest?
yeah onlyh board there that doesnt need foam as a crutch
infi100 if you can find it, if not qk
is it hotswap?
yes
no shot they make a 104 key version do they?
thanks tho ill add it to my list
where should i start looking for switches?
Qk 100 then ac100

YOO you play FH4?
Yes
Since when
Sheeesh
Nicee
Iāve been tryna play online with other people but
No one seems to be using the Xbox LFG thing
Sure, once Iām free then I guess we can play for a bit
I lay played horizon 4 back in 2020
so getting on the game now is somewhat nostalgic
Everything feels new
But somehow old at the same time
Anyways
I saw that you CANT use this knob on just any keyboard
The keyboard needs to have a rotary encoder socket or sum
Still looks solid
Gib 200m cr so i can buy auction cars
Yes sir
Iāll give you 50m
No shot haha
Donāt have much because Iām not a āvanilla playerā
We will drive null car together
Fr
But I did finish the game and everything back when I played it last time
Legitimately
Gained like 10 levels everyday
If u noticed there was some 12+ hrs sessions
Oh wow
I canāt grind the game this time around because of this guy
I would rather have him than playing that game
Just realized I donāt have any good pics of her on this phone
I have gotten 100 scratch marks on my hands in the past week when I try to get on my pc
She likes sitting on top of my pc case because of the cold AIO air
And if I move her, I quite literally die
Just be be nice to her lol
I try to but I donāt really want scratches on my new case š
Dont use it
I mean itās alright if she just doesnāt turn the dust cover at the top into a scratcher
Then she can stay there for as long as she wants
The new case or the pc
The pc
I havenāt gotten on in like 2 weeks
Was sick and just didnāt feel like it
Use a cover lol
Planning on doing that soon
Anyways
Did you get the
Aston Martin Vulcan FE yet?
Can redeem it using backstage
I donāt know about redeeming it with backstage but
If you can snipe one for cheap, just get it from the auction house
Me whoās on a 2060 Super:
Used to be an extremely OP car back when I played
I will get a x1 carbon
no
Specially during early game
Prbl gen 12 or 13
Yes found it out using ChatGPT š
Thinkpad
Yeah i bought a gen8 for my dad lasr oct
How much was it
Oh wow
My relatives are going to the US for a bit so I was wondering if I should get a laptop or a phone
Get a new keyboard
In used market
I was supposed to get the m1 v5
At the end of November
But itās been delayed
Till the the end of January
Something up with the shipping or smth
The shop said theyāll let me know on Monday about if they can get a single unit shipped to Bangladesh
Thatās very hard for where I live
Over here, $130 for a keyboard is considered a lot
U have 130 ?
As a budget
Yes
But there isnāt that much thatās available over here
So only a handful of startup-Ish brands import the keyboards officially
@worldly garden calm down š
8 hours
Anyways howās the rainy75 if I donāt get a knob
good
oh 8 hours
im grinding some forzathon dont mind me
it sucks
Oh what
its chinesium
Idek what to get then
filco majestouch
Idc about that since
Currently using an overpriced Corsair board thatās very outdated and sounds horrible
how is there any correlation there
The rainy is cheaper in terms of the features it has compared to if I wanted to get a Corsair/not a Chinese board with the same features
youll get 0 after sale support
why whats up with monsgeek?
the qk101 isnt out yet tho?
Oh
Yāall recommend me some keebs only available in the US
Using US prices
Budget is $130 USD
Need it delivered within January 4th
Iāll ask a relative to bring it for me
i recommendbuying from reputable makers/vendors
Idk anything about US prices
thats not at all what i said
A $80 board is $140+ in my country
Ik what you meant
Like
Ik some brands but I have zero clue about where to check for the current price of the specific boards
From those brands
I heard there are sales and stuff every now and then
Easier said than done
This is my current keyboard, I am realizing that for college I need a number pad, because Iām a computer engineer with lots of math. Any recommendations for a hot-swappable number pad that I could get to go with this. I have leftover tea caps for the number pad.
My current keyboard is a GMK glorious 60% that I modified.
keychron makes one
How is Cooler Master's keyboards?
Mid product
where did you get this?
Some place called ll!mpoo9 according to the picture
is that a thrift store
Yes
Spacebar makes a weird sound, but otherwise it sounds like it works
Needs an A to A cable
Who TF designed this...(It was CoolerMaster)
But we all know CM didn't actually design a keyboard. They just paid someone and put their logo on it
i guess but coolermaster made some pretty cool boards
About 3.5 USD
for those keycaps alone imo yes it was worth
Im i looking at a different picture?
ill buy it from you
its like that saying
You know what keycaps i hate?
what
i hate them too but how do they relate to the caps on your coolermaster
They relate inversely
no offense but i dont understand what you're trying to say
those caps to me dont look like generic shitter OEM caps with sharp corners
and if you mean that they're smooth because they're worn out that would mean they're abs, which isnt an inherently bad thing
do you guys love thocky keyboards?
It's white on white
I'd make a keyboard out of piezo igniters if i could
so you dont like the blue on the caps
What blue?
just buy gmk pulse

paypal converting currencies
Wtf? That's not even the picture i posted when i said that
we were talking about the coolermaster board you got, was this unrelated or something
My apologies. I've asked too much of you. Forgive me
23 hours š
cringe
got the nuphy air (75v2)
its awesome so far
theres some crazy amounts of factory lube in there
even the board is kind of wet with it
doesnt feel mushy though, so i'm ok with it
Can someone recommend a 75% Aluminium board with a knob, VIA and tri mode for $125 USD
After playing around with the keyboard and looking at the manual, it turns out, that Context Menu key on the right is actually a Fn key. Not sure if there is a way to change it. I think the person bought some caps for it, but the set didn't come with an Fn Key and they just said "F it, I'll know it's the Fn Key".
And I find no record of a Orange Switch version of this product. I assumed I was just bad at colors and it was the Brown version, but looking at the keys again it's definitely Orange. And the F9 key, which is supposed to light up when activated, does not. I don't like non-clicky and -non-tactile keys, so I really don't care for the keyboard, but I still give it about a 7/10 since it feels pretty solid, but I occasionally do what to use the Context Menu key. I could probably just do something in windows to force that key to register as the Context Menu key.
Made an offer on a v1 max so I can give it a chance next
But I still find it unlikely it'll compete well when options half its price are cnc'd metal and sound deeper and have similar gaskets
But maybe it'll be good
But the same people who shill it shill the v1 non max which may as well have been a mainstream gamer keyboard
keytroll's
I'll give it a chance still
hey everyone, I am trying to get the kailh low profile wizard switches in ireland, but cant find anyone or anywhere that would evens ip them here.... any help?
by the way, try the iqunix magi65 or magi65 pro, will be the best decision of your life if you want a low profile keyboard that sounds and feels incredible!
xmas money vibes
@worldly garden
i love how you say that
can i get your guys's opinions on this
which one sounds better
first one
Going to be doing a tape mod on my first actually moddable keyboard soon
No
Dont do it
they both sound like butt
First
NOOO
I bought the akko rose woods and put it in my v1 max
so the first was jupiter monkey and the second one was the akko rose wood
oh wait it's switched nvm
But yeah honestly I don' tknow oif that was a fair representation because I did have to turn the mike all the way up because the rosewoods are very quiet
Tune the space bar stabilizer though
It has some rattle in both
Should improve the sound a lot
@charred plank might just
I think a big issue for me is to sound chase
I really want those thoccy creamy sounds
but the issue is that the switches might sound different for all keybaords
Tbh
If you're chasing sound I'd say focus more on case less on switches at this point
But switches do matter
Just, if you've found a good switch case will be a bigger place to upgrade
thocky keybort
what is the best keyboard for gaming under $80
hhkb tomorrow
Praying it includes the mini b to usb a connector
cause i donāt want to order one
well, whichever you like more is better
hey there, i have a Logitech G Pro K/DA keyboard.
ive noticed that the keyboard sounds waaaay better when on a blanket. for the past month ive been rocking a blanket under my keyboard (basically on half of my desk) but its kinda annoying when im doing something other than playing games/typing.
Since the keyboard doesnt have hotswappable switches. is there anything i could do to make it sound thicker like id have a blanket under it without actually having one under?
i never modded nor built a keyboard howevber i want to, ive seen some people use foam padding that they put inside their keyboard however i cannot really find a good video/tutorial thats dissasembling this keyboard so i could atleast see the insides of it before i proceed. (if anything like that is even possible)
and i dont really want to mess up the keyboard as its a limited edition
Disassembly is usually pretty easy, just a few screws and some ribbon cables underneath. If youāre decently capable with your hands it shouldnāt be a hard process Iām sure youāre able to. Just remember, if there are for whatever reason any clips or anything you need to pry, pry with something softer than the case material as to not damage it (use plastic/rubber pry tools as opposed to metal ones)
Otherwise itās tough to advise, as every keyboard is different. Iād be surprised if no one has disassembled a Logitech Gpro before tho Iām sure youāre able to find a video
As for what you can do to make the sound better, the go to is usually cramming the case with something dense (foam, tape, blanket, etc.) mess around with a few options and see what sounds best in your opinion š
ill look again tomorrow, i just did a quick google search and all of the videos vere with the hotswap version of the keyboard
alright thank you
If its the same case/board assembly will probably be similar though, but youd have to visually check
it is afaik, by the looks of it atleast, only difference is that the switches are swappable
why
also
whats better for playing games and typing in general, MOA, ASA or Cherry?
currently using cherrry so you could say the only keycaps ive used in my life are cherry profile
Preference
Unless you've used really scoopy keys like mt3 or moa, or are looking for scoopy keys specifically, they are going to feel weird and might eff you up just off that
Moa is also a uniform profile, meaning the caps are all the same shape and height, which might feel weird to you too
ASA are tall, if you want taller caps
Other than that, it's all preference
The only non preference advantage one has over the other is that because MOA is a uniform profile, you can move the caps to any position on the keyboard if you want to try different layouts like azerty or something, or ergo boards
If I have a really stupid keyboard that uses USB A for its USB port...what would happen if I just plugged a USB A to C cable into a USB C port on my PC?
It depends.
Specifically need a cable with data transfer.
Just make sure you aren't getting a cable that is charging only.
I may have misread your question though, any male usb-c to female usb-a will have data transfer.
any damn cable works
my brother uses a type c cable from a weed vape and it works just fine
charge only cables exist but I think are kind of rare at this point if you get them from like, a tech store.
does anyone got any recommendations for a mechanical keyboard which sounds good and is 75% for 100-150 euros?
hhkb just arrived (sorry for the horrible res)
i do need a micro usb b to usb a cable though
topre is indeed nice but i think i need to get used to it
minusb*

or
a conversion board
I keep meaning to get one coz, right now I just use a small micro b to usb c dongle thing
oh fuck yeah this is a nice one
lol how come
potentially
lole was not aware these were good
iāve heard they ābreak inā
i must say itās a nice first impression
now you need to put some grey and white or sakura blanks
Computer Am ------- Cm Cf Cf Cm ---------Am Keyboard
i love how light it is
i have heard that before
i already want another though
maybe iāve taken a wrong turn since this is one of my first boards
*financially
i love the board already

wait till you see that people make custom enclosures for them
iāve seen the heavy grail, is there more?
i probably did a less amount of research than i shouldāve lol
lots
i can inv you to my server where there are some topre collectors
if thats fine
sure dm me
does anyone got any recommendations for a mechanical keyboard which sounds good and is 75% for 100-150 euros?
they may be a little stiff for me to be honest lol
i may swap them out
iāll save the old ones for a different time though
no
No, just a normal A to C cable.
What kind of port does your keyboard have?
this should just work then
Just tried it. Doesnt work
no OG cable. As-Is, but I did just test with an an A-A cable I happened to have. Still works
and the usb a to c cable works for data transfer?
Data + charging?
Dex works, SO I assume Data is working
This is backwards. The Device is A and the Host is C
If I really wanted to use it, I'd just buy a longer A-A cable from Amazon. But it's Orange switches...and I dont really like those
I'm happy with my DasKeyboard
oh itās a quickfire xt
havenāt seen one of those in a while
It was 3.50. All I had to do was reset the spacebar
thocky keybor
No, it's one of those ones where it only makes noise if you constantly bottom out
okay i definitely need lighter domes for this hhkb
my accuracy is at an all time low
Hey theyāre nice though
iāll save them for another board
???
Orange. Non Tactile, Non Clicky
I hope you realize I was just making a joke? I still don't understand what you're on about though
Though, the spacebar makes a weird sound
i don't really know what "thcoky" means...so that's two of us
I really wanna get some Super Blacks, but I hear they don't exist anymore...
I have some, they are very rare, finding enough for a keyboard would cost you a house payment
they come in the g80-5000
I've seen some springs I can buy, but I'd have to mode every single switch
"nobody"?
Are you saying everyone opens all their switches and puts new springs in?
hey @patent belfry sorry for the ping, but my hhkb is being Weird
i found a mini usb b cable lying around, plugged it in
didnāt work in arch, thatās fine, i rebooted
still didnāt work, didnāt work in grub either
one of the ports is blue
also probably the wrong person & place to ask
look up the dip switch diagram
alright thank u
there's a Linux setup
for cherry switches yeah basically
am i being stupid, or is there no dip switches in there
is that a stock pcb?
daughterboard/controller I mean
it should be, i bought it from thocc exchange and the listing mentioned nothing about a modded pcb
idk what that is but I would assume its used
okay now that iām looking at the listing
the previous owner prob swapped the controller
apparently it has bluetooth and qmk compatibility
What the fuck
they didnāt give me a dongle lol
yeah 3rd party controller
dont need dongle for bt
oh true
iām assuming i need software to change settings, then?
and that also explains why my leds were flashing while it was not plugged in
you prob would want to know what pcb that is honestly
So, you're saying. The most popular switch used in mechanical keyboards for at least 10 years during it's introduction into popular PC accessories between about 2005-2010...
Of all those keyboards sold and gifted to people...
Less than 5% of people just used the switches as-is?
More than 95% of those people opened up their keyboards, and replaced the springs?
yeah that would really help if they mentioned that
i donāt know if i want to open it right now
I mean people who are putting them in boards not the ones that come in stock
also iām confused why they swapped these keycaps
the original ones were way better
(the prev. owner)
honestly your choice
letās see if bluez shows it
Open it up and add all the keys that are missing
??
honestly I would guess the controller is a hasu
@spiral mica thanks for the help by the way
I dont recall yang one supporting qmk but idk if hasu has bt (it does)
There's no Ctrl key.
Also no Del or numpad
del replaces backspace traditionally
numbers are at the top, i donāt need a numpad
ctrl replaces caps lock
fire layout
iām gonna have to figure out how to get it into pairing mode
lol
thanks
What about AltGr?
iāve never used that key in my life
Put the leopard into pairing mode by holding down Fn and pressing Q. The leftmost LED indicator will blink blue when it's in pairing mode.
Me neither...I've only ever seen it on an old kb I think it was an FK-2002
itās on some of my older keyboards too
but my older keyboards are just membrane shit
@coral ferry looks like it just connected
it even has a battery indicator
thanks blueman-git
is the royal kludge r65 worth it for gaming?
The FK-2002 I had was White Alps. Kinda sad I lost it, but it didn't have a windows key
send him the imgur link
wdym by that? imgur?
e waste
wait a second
let me find it
this
gotchu
thanks ill check that out
honestly rk r series seems to be better than the original rk series but still shit for its price
i mean
the r65 is like, the only one in my price range in mechanical keyboards
check out aliexpress or something
whats is ur budget
around like 350 BRL
big roblox ligma ?
no
Brazillian Real
iām kinda shocked i have a hhkb with a modding kit in it though
oh thatās the wrong person
my fault
iām kinda shocked i have a hhkb with a modding kit in it though
spares me the time
I just realised... BR in BRL isnt for Brazil...B is Brasil...and RL is for Real...
yea
@fleet scroll success?
hey all, I have a couple of questions around my new Corsair mechanical keyboard (my first one....)
I got the Corsair K70 from LTT Black Friday bundle, and was looking at advice on switches / key caps and more importantly a wrist rest
what would you guys recommend?
I'm used to using a low profile membrane keyboards (Logitech MX Keys) so this new K70 TKL is like double height of my old one lol
Yeah, the tall keys are a bit of an uncomfort compared to newer flat keys
Buy a router and mill out an alcove for the keyboard to rest in?
haha on this desk that's not really an option, as it's an IKEA desk so it's hollow lol
well cardboard filled
Cut the top and make a tray?
an option that doesn't mean cutting up my desk so the Keyboard is fixed into one place would be helpful
hmmm
Lower the desk and add a layer of wood?
Are you constatly moving the keyboard?
serious options please lol
You want like low profile keycaps?
I wonder if you can mod switches to have shalower stems
I'm not overly sure, it's my first time using mechanical keyboards, hence why I'm looking for advice that doesn't cutting up my desk or a brand new keyboard
oh. It's your first mech
Have you ever used a full size keyboard before? Or just the newer flat keys?
This looks pretty shallow, but there's no label...You'd have to draw the letters
thocky keyboards
as I said above, my old keyboard was a low profile MX Keys, full sized keyboard just flat
first time with a mechanical keyboard and first time using TKL
No..i mean really full sized...in all dimensions
wasn't really a lot of money as came free with the backpack from LTT black friday
Don't worry. This sort of things happens when you ask certain people things
if youre looking for high quality keycaps look at signature plastics
Get your hands on this rock solid keycap set: DSA Granite, designed by Matt3o. This colorway stands strong on its own, but also provides a beautiful foundation for further customization with its timeless mix of light gray and white. This keycap set comes with low-profile, durable PBT, dye-sublimated keycaps to create a keycap set as long-lasting...
That's...like...the price of an actual keybaord...
"designed by Matt3o".
Real men buy keys designed by some guy in the 1800s who died a long time ago
why are you being cringe
"I just got a free keyboard, what can I do to make it more comfortable?"
"Spend 75 dollars on keys that will change almost nothing"
spending money on keycaps for that shit will do nothing regardless.
by your logic this conversation is over?
If they're more shallow and more comfortable for him, that would do something
He's the one who asked for them
I was after advice on keycaps partly as I like the look of the 2 tone caps, but mostly I wanted advice on decent wrist rests for it as it is a very tall keyboard compared to what I'm used to
yeah mentioned it in my very first couple of messages lol
I can see this uses cosairs own MLX gen 2 pre-lubed switches
I don't think so... never had to used one in the past lol
https://kbdfans.com/products/quartz-stone-black-gold-wrist-rest
i like these stone ones just because they are always nice and cool to the touch
Specs Material: Quartz stones Dimensions: 60%: 296 x 80 x 20 mm;Ā 65%/75%: 320 x 80 x 20 mm 80%:360 x 80 x 20 mm PackageĀ Weight: 60% :Around 880g;Ā 65%: Around 990g Including:Ā Wrist rest, Rubber feetĀ Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Notes As the texture of the Quartz Stone is uncontrollable, It is normal that the pictureĀ has some d
they do look nice!
as IU'm in UK, I'll see if I can find similar over here, if not I hope they ship to UK lol
there are plenty of different makers of these
I remember there being a maker in london that did one off orders for clients, for maybe 50 gbp?
nice! thank you š
looks like switches are not swappable with this keyboard which kinda sucks :/
soldering iron time
the linnmon?
yep
whats a budget HE keyboard?
linnmons can accomodate things that clamp to it
as long as not too much weight is put on to stress, so a under-desk sliding tray should be alright
if you wanted to drill, you could probably attach a piece of wood to the bottom to the ends and drill into that piece of wood
the ends of the table aren't paper fill since that's where the legs drill in
Got a new keyboard
A bit late but I ended up buying cherry profile caps
Specifically, gmk sumi
Clones
yeah, turns out it has a bluetooth modding kit
lmfaoo
thats amazing. does it work?
yeah
has way better battery life than my old gmk67 too (or so it seems)
and it hasnāt randomly turned off like my gmk67 loved to do
i thought that was srircha lol
did u replace the port too? or still have to charge with mini
