open fulcrum
#

Would it be smarter to prioritize switches more than keycaps? Or is it just whatever I wanna do here?

worldly garden
#

idk is up to you

open fulcrum
#

After a while, the beige seems a bit weird with the black

#

I found a set I think would fit a lot better, although it’s about the same price as switches, maybe a bit cheaper by a few dollars

#

(Switches being the kd200s you recommended)

open fulcrum
#

So what would make the kd200s that you recommended a better switch than the yellow cream v3 pros? To understand the upgrade a bit better

#

(Trying not to sound stupid or anything)

spiral mica
#

honestly switches are up to preference

#

hmx switches are all very smooth out of factory and are mostly if not all clacky and longpole so if thats what you want go for kd200 or any hmx switch

open fulcrum
#

I got yellow cream pro v3s from Akko and they are recommending to upgrade to a better switch at some point, so I’m not sure if I should do that or keycaps eventually (I did find a set of keycaps I think would work a lot better)

#

So that’s mainly why I’m asking

#

Since apparently the switches I chose are dated (not necessarily bad, just dated), so I’m not sure the differences and if it’s worth the upgrade

#

Or if I should do that like a few months to a year down the line

#

(I don’t think anyone here is trying to be super rude or anything, I definitely didn’t choice the best parts for the price, although them mentioning that stuff does make me wonder a bit)

#

I think people here have been pretty helpful, so definitely nothing to complain about there, I don’t see why I should act way smarter than I am here

#

Or well, most have been helpful, I think we know who has been the least helpful

spiral mica
#

I like cream yellows

open fulcrum
#

I mean they feel perfectly fine to me, so I might just get the keycaps

spiral mica
#

they sre decently smooth and sounds decent on most boards

open fulcrum
#

(Although I noticed the actual keycaps are a dark-ish gray not black, so the colors are kinda reversed, but that’s whatever)

#

Actually idk, are these clone?

#

The red samurai set they have is definitely a clone

spiral mica
#

I dont recon that set of gmk but if it looks like a set of gmk, definetly

#

first gmk are all doubleshot abs

#

and you cant find them on amazon and whatever

open fulcrum
#

The gmk Arctic set

spiral mica
#

definetly clone then

open fulcrum
spiral mica
#

zfrontier gmk are legit

#

I didnt know they have a english website

open fulcrum
#

(The amazon set)

#

Or kbdiy

#

Whatever the brand is

spiral mica
#

kbdiy are also clones

#

the only not clone clone is nicepbt which uses gmk set designes sometimes but they are licensed by the designer

#

honestly if you are on a budget whatever works works

open fulcrum
#

I mean it seems some care about clones while others don’t mind

worldly garden
open fulcrum
spiral mica
#

it is

#

just like pirating

worldly garden
open fulcrum
#

Probably not the most accurate representation of what it would look like, just idk how to change the color of the spacebar and stuff specifically

#

Without changing the other modifier keys

spiral mica
#

how bout this

worldly garden
#

@open fulcrum how much u are willing to pay for a keycap set

open fulcrum
#

Maybe $35-40, I would assume around that is a decent place to be for a decent set without spending a whole lot

spiral mica
#

havent used cannoncaps

#

but should be better than gmk clones

#

and its cheap as hell on kibou

open fulcrum
#

The website seems to be using Hong Kong dollars, although that’s about $27

#

Idk if there’s a us website

spiral mica
#

its a HK based company

#

so I dont think so

So I have an AKKO 5075B Plus. Randomly during a game it shut off, I assumed it died so I plugged it back in (this kb is wireless). The power turns on fine, I check settings and it connected fine, but it refuses to type. I have tried different USBS, I’ve done a restart via FN + ~, which worked, but it didn’t help my issue. I have also plugged the keyboard into a seperate device and it still won’t type, receives power fine. Does that mean it’s the receiver? And could there be any other options I could troubleshoot while I email AKKO?

I've figured out a bit more - If I am holding down the wrong combination of keys, it will think I continue to hold down keys even after I let go. So if I press A + w + shift, it might think I continue to hold A down, even after I let go of shift and A. Is that a known kind of issue?

I did, definitely

You know there is an aliexpress scams on these mad60 ?

#

Thats the youtube video im trying to send

I did not recommend but yet , avoiding them from your pick which is mad60

bitter oar
bitter oar
#

i usually just see people getting meme’d when they ask for a chinese keyboard if it’s good

#

instead of actual recommendations

#

pretty sure they’re asking because they don’t want what local retailers sell at $15-100

#

if you want to avoid aliexpress scams just buy from a decent seller

#

or is it because some of them buy from shady suppliers?

i’m asking because i don’t know about those scams

lube ?

just shove it under there

fleet scroll

it wasn’t before

timid pivot
fleet scroll
#

keychron includes it in all boards iirc

#

i got one with an aliexpress gmk67 so it should be fine

timid pivot
#

huh

bitter oar
#

@timid pivot also, if you’re going to ever buy krytox, beware that there are so many counterfeits out there, prob more than the real thing, make sure the seller provides official document that is not fake, but the seller can reuse a real document as well and sell you the fake stuff.

bitter oar
#

a lube

timid pivot
#

hm, I wonder if keychron includes some lube with the keyboard... or just the tool(s) ?

bitter oar
#

doesn’t have to be krytox just for switches

timid pivot
#

bruh I just checked, they even got switch lube and stabilizer lube

#

it's 50% on sale but honestly, the fact that they went as far as branding two different lubes is crazy

worldly garden
timid pivot
#

lol no

bitter oar
worldly garden
#

U will need to redo keychron stabs, they are a bit rattle

timid pivot
bitter oar
timid pivot
timid pivot
bitter oar
#

probs 5g

timid pivot
#

10mL for the switch lube
15mL for the stab lube

bitter oar
#

that much?

worldly garden
#

Decent price

#

Will last you some hundreads or maybe thousand of switches

bitter oar
#

assuming it’s good, garbage lubes tend to dry out or change in consistency with use and time

timid pivot
bitter oar
#

or simply not hold well to the plastic or give too much friction

#

that’s also a shitty lube

#

but depends what’s the use case

bitter oar
#

or like even printer lube works with switches

bitter oar
#

it’s not hard to counterfeit lube

timid pivot
#

first timer here

worldly garden
#

Just get anything from kryptox and u are fine

bitter oar
#

anyways, it’s going to be fine

#

just don’t expect you getting good value

#

they still get big margins from it

worldly garden
#

Thats good value lol

#

Wdym

bitter oar
#

but everything compared to krytox or tribosys is cheap

timid pivot
bitter oar
#

they’re industrial grade products with whole lotta testing

worldly garden
#

Most lube is literally kryptox, and packaging was at their end

worldly garden
#

These will help

timid pivot
#

lemme see that

worldly garden
#

Disclaimer : backache and eye problems are not included

bitter oar

bitter oar
timid pivot

I always plan ahead

worldly garden

Good wisdom

timid pivot
#

do I need brushes to apply the lube ?

worldly garden
bitter oar
#

like 0 / 1 brush is fine if you have

#

smaller better

timid pivot
#

I have zero brushes here, I'll order a couple

bitter oar
#

but takes longer time to apply

worldly garden
bitter oar
worldly garden
#

Brushes, opener, stem holder etc

timid pivot
worldly garden
bitter oar

a zero brush should cost like a buck, opener buck or two unless you’re looking for aluminum ones those are $5+, stem holder about a buck or two too

timid pivot

cuz I don't read any included tools on the page

worldly garden
