imo the desoldering pump is faster and less cost for maintaining
hot air desoldering throughhole is so dumb tho
Can you recommend a good one?
ss-02
all this effort to be beat out by a 104u/980c
yes this is also nice
or just build with cherry switches and never have to desolder
it's worth it
i was at a rando pawn shop and the dude told me it was for a gamecube
but I could see the VMU slot lol
not a huge dreamcast fan
some people love the thing, would be cool if you had a DD emu
oops i summoned an rgb demon
lol wtf
he's angy
corny
i think it's funny realforce man has nothing to say to counter non rowstag boards
make it topre!
there's a topre corne
the japanese community just be doing wild stuff with split 40s
the corne topre thing was being maintained by gonnoc at some point, and he does like
stuff like this lol
I keep meaning to look into cipulot's replacement pcbs
for tobber boards
he makes a replacement pcb for realforce too
yeah but rowstag lol
the realforce tkls
hmm?
i own one of these, they are quite nice
my tobber board is a leopold
and then I have a niz board with the domes swapped to deskeys v3 domes
I think I have purple domes in there right now
oh
i didn't know niz did a custom tkl
i put topre and mx on the same level
Decided to do one more mod
Extended the gaskets a bit on the lucky 65 with some double sided tape with a thin foam on the rear mounted behind the silicone gaskets
I still don't like gaskets but it at least makes it all in instead of a kinda hard barely moves gasket mount
what are like the best screw in stabs that i can get in stock for a satisfaction 75

Thatβs not even that bad
Yea those look fucking awesome
fr
450 bucks (American) isnβt that bad for what they are
Iβd need to hear them on a couple boards before ever getting even close to justifying it
But I could see those on a like cyberpunk aesthetic build
Super kitsche
not even the actual metals
spoken like a true person who doesn't own it
realforce more like real expensive for somebody who still experiments with layouts atm
silent mx is probably squishier lmao
outemu lime my beloved
skcm cream >
ran akko ocean blues for a good part of last year and they're pretty nice for a super cheapo option
https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=123799.0
oohh this looks super fun pricetag not that fun but seems about as much as id expect for something like this
[IC] mod_ - Fully Modular Keyboard 65% β 110%
the legendary f25 key
Ttc silent frozen and SBW begs to differ
That looks dumb πππ
Thanks π
ok lmao
Just seems really cluttered
what would be a good keyboard to you
Shouldβve figured you were a k1k memer

to keep with the theme of modularity
pangea is pretty nice
I'm pressed
can't wait for it to get here lol
it'll be a good reward for finishing my first year of college π
?
Bro
What did akg do to you
Thing is straight up amazing imo
Both in look and sound
Could be more detailed though
It's pretty comfortable
Mainly cause it has a good π strap with a rubber band mechanism to allow pressure relief
Temple pads are kinda meh
i see
Don't bother me too much
I wanna try these so bad
But they could be stiffer
Fully restored mine from it previously being a falling apart piece of junk
π₯π₯π₯
stereotype comes true once again
just don't spend any actual money trying to lmao
Here are some other vintage things I restored
So side note. Is there a reason this is in keyboard chat?
Went as far as foam matching and finding redoing electroplating to restore some
Or am I having a stroke?
average bioocposting
What stereotype π
What do you have against vintage
nothing
Yea, it's a bit off topic
you think I'm against vintage headphones just because i don't like the k1k and the people associated with it lul
average biooc logic
Honestly, I should start getting some vintage keyboards to restore too
Bro is being racist to a whole headphone π
henlo
i dont think thats racism
it's just regular discrimination
i might have to dial in my spacebar stabilizer, but i dont wanna take my keeb apart again
Fair
Screw in stabs?
do it the next time u clean out the gamer gunk
Use the plate and peel them switches off (don't actually do that please)
then u may as well disassemble now and scrub the gunk out while youre in there
BRO
already took it apart yesterday
and did that
π
and worked on my spacebar for like 8 hours
it improved, but it didn't fix it all the way
condolences
Try balancing it on a phone glass
thats the plan
It might just be the surface you balanced it on wasn't flat enough
either that or ill just go steal another stabilizer
i never balanced it in the first place for this one
π
What did you spend that 8 hours on the space bar doing?
the problem is i dont have any lube rn and i need to buy some the balance it
erm
yoink some lube from ur friend while ur there stealing their stabs
i holee modded it, re lubed it, and made my own switch (after a while of prototyping), re foam modded everything in some spots,
ets...
Walmart sells lube
ayo
bruh pretty sure the sex lube is just gonna leak out of the stabs
Lmao
you can get dielectric grease from car places tho right
Gotta get the gel type for stabilizers
yeah
I only need to balance 1 more wire in my board
But I don't care too much to cause it sounds fine
backspace?
Yep
if u run 1u bs u dont need stabs for it
Balanced shift cause it had some rattle then space cause I was at it anyways and having fun but backspace was just kinda fine already and not as important
i actually am pretty happy with how my spacebar sounds rn, maybe in a few days ill order new stabilizers and balance them and that should fix it
nice
Just use the center of the buttons as intended
i actually one of those ergo spacebars once on a normal 75% keyboard without stabilizers, and it worked well and sounded amazing
the only reason i rly took it off was because i couldn't hit comma and then space fast with it
Stabilizers are just a fix for bad finger aim
frrrr
This is why I use tx lol
Donβt have the patience for the holee mod and all that
Lol
Tx long pole sounds like absolute shit on my plateless board
Had to swap those out
Only kept it on the spacebar
I dont know if this is the right place to ask, but Im thinking of spray painting my keyboard (Nuphy Air75) and the wrist rest.
Does anyone have any tips or tricks?
Especially for the wrist rest
guys do y'all know any good keyboards for 150$?
im looking for a RGB , hot swappable, 60-75% keyboard and it should be on amazon (can't do custom keyboards cuz of that)
there are a handful of custom keyboard kits on Amazon
The Amazon only route is kinda just shooting yourself in the foot
The phrase you'd be looking for is Keyboard Barebones or Keyboard Kit
You might be able to get a leobog hi75 on Amazon
But you'll be paying a lot more than it costs on AliExpress

Imo they don't have any boards that are competitive in that price
what is ur reason for not doing a custom
Amazon
i mean if you have to stay on amazon, that'd be the route to go
Not really
maybe one of the chinese vendors with storefronts on amazon might have something, like kprepublic or ymdk
Even the marked up from AliExpress options are just better cheaper boards
A hi75 would be much better than a q1 while not requiring him to stretch his budget for example
Yes
Amazon sellers resell things like hi75 at a higher price
But they're still better and cheaper options
Please note: Two shipping methods are available for the Evo80βsea freight (30β35 days) and DHL Air Shipping (7β10 days). Expand the shipping method menu on the checkout page to select your preferred option. Sea freight option is only available for non-remote area (check your zip code here; remote area surcharge starts
neo would be cheaper but still not within budget constraints
and still not on amazon lol
Looks pretty good tbh
I actually like the back design of this
I was avoiding recommending epomaker
compared to the rest of the budget garbage
i don't remember if people like epomaker here lol
Hi75 is leobog
Tbh though, company politics are a meme reason to screw someone's recommendion
keycult inspired
i just reccomend whatever
if the price is right and its within the budget i'd say go for anything, but community looks down on certain vendors for being froggy lolol
all the budget stuff is relatively the same, it's more of a matter of just picking one
and going with it
I'm so glad I ended up cleaning my glass pad. I unironically thought it was just trash and was gonna give it away to a friend but it just had some sticky residue on it from shipping
+-50$ ish
outside of vendors not fulfilling things, which is different
isop alcohol works wonders
or being bad at being a vendor
Yea, used some and now it's smooth af
the new pricing lol
does it make you happy lol
hard to argue with that
^
i mean itβs the cheapest of the cheap
i like things that i can put vial or zmk on lately, but idk if thats far out
slop
does anyone have any experience (or just opinions about it) with the keychron q8 and would care to share it with me (I am quite new to the topic of more advanced mechnical keyboards)?
What's neo75 cu MSRP supposed to be
Hello everyone, this is Neo Studio again xD. As our old friends know, we've always focused on enhancing acoustic design and structure to set the Neo series apart from trendy market offerings. After the successful launch of the Neo Ergo, we've decided to challenge ourselves with one of the most popular layouts - 75% - to see what fresh perspectiv...
price is perspective Β―_(γ)_/Β―
Looking into some keycaps for a new keyboard for my new setup, however I need help deciding something.
Do you think this is too hard to see with RGB off?
Honestly if you are buying those I would assume you probably aren't gonna be referencing them a whole bunch anyway so it should be fine
Yea, I'm buying that the day it launches
But copper lx60 is gonna slap. Bowl is S-Tier
I'll try to eventually get both but I know the neo 75 is gonna be a pain to buy after the first day. That things probably going to go up in price from there
what is that mousepad π
thocky keyort
A dark creepy forest lol if you couldn't tell by the space bar saying weirdo ghost gang I have a certain atheistic
Said aesthetic is mostly chaos but leans toward dark/creepy themed stuff lol
chaos aesthetic is a vibe
Based
Themed my whole setup around space
That's cool af
Out of MX Red, MX, Brown, and MX Blue, what would be the best you think?
I know red is considered to be the gold standard to alot of people unfortunately I use epomaker Budgerigar so I can't speak from experience I've heard there great tho
black blue>brown>red
clears
Dont have that option
blacks
Realforce is better
yellows out of box in regard to like gateron and stuff
its all the same and none of its good
also as far as screw in stabs whats the best of the best in stock and avalible
why do you say unfortunately? i quite like the budgerigar switches actually
especially if you hand lube them, they are very nice imo
Oh I phrased that badly lol I like the switch I just meant that unfortunately I can't offer input beyond that as I have no experience
ah fair enough
for a pretty cheap switch they are very nice imo, they sound amazing after i hand lubed the switches and springs, in a keychron board with a tape mod
I do intend to try out others just outta curiosity but I got other priorities RN lol so sometimes in the future
definitely, keyboards are an expensive hobby to have lol
I have a epomaker kw75
cherry clip in c3 wire
clip in though i want screw ins
Really wanted to build my own and when my apartment caught on fire we weren't allowed in to scavenge for months so I was like well my old razer huntsman is probably screwed anyway I may as well
i do need to get some new stabs for my keychron keyboard, the stock ones are shit and rattle like crazy
there is basically no difference between screw and clip
clip in is more of a pain to install in my experience
clip in ones bug me as well
my old bakeneko used clip ins
Now I just need a replacement volume knob and my keyboard will be complete
????
how
its just like screw in but without screw
and might be a dumb question but are clip ins compatible with all pcbs
no
if it supports screw in jt supports clip in
its for a satisfaction 75
just see if it got the stab holes
typeplus x yikb
where would i buy those thats not based in asia
durock stabilizers are pretty good
its overpriced
yeah thats whats in my current build
and needs modding
and zeal stabilizers are pretty good imo
price is not an issue
i did chicken out and get some cannon caps instead of the gmk fuji though
drop
where would i buy those
ive had good experiences with drop
the inventory is pretty solid. Ship times and prices are good
how about TX stabalizers?
TX RevΒ AP Screw-In Stabilizers We also have TX Clip-In Stabilizers availableΒ here. TX Stabilizers are premium PCB mount Screw-in stabilizers that utilize a patented doubleshot stem. The stem contains a POM outside, and TPU + POMΒ plastic on the inside. This combination of plastics on the inside help reduce wire rattle a
where do i buy those though
they sell 99% overpriced slop
I also need new linear switches
aside from all the stuff normal vendors have
im moving these holy panda x into my new satisfaction 75. then i need new linears to put into my gmmk pro
broken in mx blacks if you like clack
i want just whatevers best and i can buy pre lubed with 205g0
i dont want to spend hours lubin them myself
best is subjective
i like medium actuation force a bit clackier
i liked the TKC banana splits i used to have in my bakeneko
mainly looking through this list
just get hmx if you want lube
best factory lube
hand lubed switches arent worth it
im thinking hmx gravel
so now the new build should be a black satisfaction 75x with holy panda x lubed and broken in, modded and broken in durock v3 stabalizers, and nicepbt grayscale for keycaps
thats a prebuilt
id rather have something i can personalize
old build will have whatever stabs i pick out, the gravel switches and generaic wob keycaps double shot pbt on a gmmk pro
"broken durock v3"
Your loss
what the fuck
im gonna pass on some random pre built
they sound really nice theres no ping or anything
you dont break in stabs
Random prebuilt is better than 95% of customs
my bad
good prebuilts are fire
"better" is subjective
like filco and leopold
You should do what my friend did and skip to endgame
i like the control of the exact switches, keycap profile and layout and feature
Dude settled on a Hhkb and Mx blacks in a month
hhkb and mx clears
damn
only missing SKCM/SKCL

Too much effort tbh
Says every newbie
hhkb is my endgame
I have a NIB M0116J if that counts
people who are at so called "endgame" just cant afford multiple
i wanna try ergo clears but i keep hearing about how the stems are ever so slightly bigger and can crack ur keycaps
and i dont really wanna buy a stem shaver lol
i like different layouts and different switch types for different things
mostly happens with gmk and random aliexpress slop
try topre
literally ruins mx experience
one is significantly more painful than the other π
I have an entire keyboard with gmk caps using mx clears
i hope they dont crack
wao
Wbu?
I have these, a 980c and moon tkl sitting around while I use my endgame 87u
muh xerox
I still see it on leopold website
Thatβs the last of their inventory
big sad
what does the xerox have in it again?
and im swapping between a full custom gmmk pro, bakeneko, tofu, and satisfaction
Donβt talk about endgame then
if im coding or writing i love my gmmk pro but for different games my other keyboard are good
just saying but those boards are ass
Oh forgot to add in the 5140 I also have
still worth $$$
I want to restore it but the case is warped
And itβs too much work for me to bother fixing that rn
ouch
I have 2 cases and 1 set of caps to retrobrite
plus a fuckton of alps to boil
god I've had the alps shit since march
thoughts on wrist rests? good or bad?
that's depressing to think about
I've only sold all the salmons and all but 2 or so batches of oranges
I think Iβve had some of it since 2022 lol
The deals were too good to resist
same here except I found out it wasn't really a good deal because the hobby is dead compared to the peak during covid and all the caps were worthless besides the apple ones
I bought them because I like them
I bought to restore and sell
it was a shit idea looking back
the most good that came out of it was like
the cream dampeneds and 5140 caps
endgame layout :D
5140 layout is 65% if it was good
idk what i want still
currently about to test a 4x12 unibody split slab with a half numrow
but im out of solder
and need to order more
i think i could get away with a 3x5
split
have you heard of pg1316M/S?
I have been thinking about switching to a different keyboard and I was hoping to seek any Topre Keyboard users and ask how their experience has been using a Topre Board,
Good
lifechanging if you ask me
if you want to rest your wrists theyre good
not available in my region
whats a good keychron for that range 150-180$
Realforce
You know topre is contactless too right
and yet you chose the contactless with rubber domes π
Yeah because itβs good?
I hear actual people in custom keyboard communities talking about HE. the only time I see people talking about domes is in really niche cursed switch mods
im thinking about getting a realforce, should i?
You must not be in the right places
Yes
The real experienced people mostly talk in private servers
And there isnβt much to say about topre anyway
MFW I'm talking to vendors and community members who have been in the hobby longer than most people on this server have been kicking around.
π
This hobby really only started taking off around 2014
Not sure wym
Most vendors came in during the Covid boom
Iβm talking about people from before that
Most people simply arenβt deep enough or dip out before they get to topre π€·ββοΈ
Like you really
There's more than one rabbit hole you can go down
You should buy a hhkb
Yeah itβs Mx black, topre and alps
And ergo ig
you got there in the end
theyre just switches
Yeah in the end lol
Iβd be happy to use those cheap Logitech membranes at my job since Iβd be getting paid anyway
40 if im lucky
wtf are these names
Would be nice if someone made a full size with these
16 or 50
The cherry ones on the k100 air were really nice
Choc/Kailh scissor is best distinction i could find
idk
scissor seems to be 1425
look at this bean
I saw
i want to try the 1316s used in that
but also 1316M (frow size)
thinking of doing 2 rows M, 2 rows S
5 columns
bam a 40
well gotta fold it in half but wireless is prob slim enough to fit with case into a deck
worst case some kinda magic deck
oof looks heavy
they do have 35gf variant though
still need a hotplate to assemble
oh no
1.4k Philippine Pesos
Good enough?
Reddragon
I like this kind of keyboard layout
certainly a keyboard
@patent belfry did you see this
@true charm grow up
HE sounds like shit
he is inferior in every way to topre besides its featureset for gaming, the convenience, and the cost
reds only
do they feel good
why wouldnt they
they are literally the same as blacks
guys i am looking a 75% keyboard with tactile switches up to 150 dolars have any recomendations
light springs smh
assuming someone of culture uses stock cherry springs should be a hate crime
go to walmart
true
do vint reds exist
no
there is no walmart in turkey :d
the equivalent
retooled reds are what im using
if i say there is no equivalent would you believe π
cause you would π¦
go to an electronics store and buy a keyboard
are they cheaper than blacks from any vendors you buy from
i am kinda looking for a custom keyboard

i have 80g tx and gon stickers
gon stickers?
yuh
what is gon
gotta upgrade the kb game now
gon
you ought to be exploded for that
guys is this a nifty find for 20 bucks? its a mint condition BTC 5060 which is a clone of the IBM pc AT keyboard
decent
im not sure what port it uses, and all the pictures are really grainy π
5 pin din connector?
Looks like a pretty standard din connector you'd find on the Model F XT and AT
My Zenith ZKB-2 also has this connector.
If you did end up buying it you would need this to use it: https://www.ebay.com/itm/385607912016
Soarer's Converter also preserves key rollover over to USB, so if your keyboard is NKRO capable like the IBM AT Model F or IBM XT Model F for example, it will maintain NKRO over USB. Up for buy it now is a NEW custom 5 Pin 180 Degree DIN (XT and AT plug type) to USB Soarer's Keyboard Converter as pictured.
Those keyboards speak in XT, which isn't understood by dumb adaptors even to PS/2
You can probably find an IBM Model F for under 100 bucks if you look hard enough
Typing this on my 122 key one lol (not under 100 bucks)
Model Ms are well liked. The Model F is its predecessor, with an odd layout but even higher quality switches
The Model Fs have full N key rollover which is nice for gaming (though it matters far less than you'd think).
i might jump on it but ill give it some thought
thanks for the advice! i literally use a 5 dollar membrane keyboard rn soooo
There are better ways to go than this haha
Especially factoring in the price of the adapter
Many good modern keyboards for the budget
very true, i had a mechanical one but it broke and old ones are nifty
it matters a lot after you experience 2kro
I wouldn't really game on vint boards but that doesn't mean they aren't great typing boards
tbh the only games I play are like KSP and openttd π
and an old keyboard is very time accurate to ksp
Mine has worked great but I guess NKRO isn't the most common vintage feature out there
some cherry boards have it
my m0116j has 2kro not counting mods
Never checked my M0117AB. Bought it mainly for the Arabic keycaps :p

Not a picture of mine since I took it apart and yoinked the keycaps almost immediately
The seller pulled a fast one on me and took the Salmon Alps out of it, replacing them with Cream Alps. Total scammer but I bought for the caps anyway :p
An image of mine disassembled
Beware of sketchy Egyptian keyboard sellers I guess. Bonus was the machete slash on one of the caps from border security taking a peek.
I wonder if they were replaced simply because wear and tear got to them
was it a working board
Yep the board did work. I still have it.
If I'm gonna type on Cream Alps though I'll just use my AEK II

you should erm
put some salmons back in it
that board is nice as fuck
aside from the dude who decided to take the salmons
Yeah it is a beautiful board. The keycaps especially
a retrobrite away from perfection
yap

would krytox 205g0 be fine for stabilizers?
the ones on my keychron v1 have been de-gooped from cleaning it once every 3-ish months for the past 2 years and i need to redo em
g0 works for most things
^
You should try the AEK-971 if you're in an infantry map. Best weapon for this scenario, though the MTAR-21, my personal favourite, is not a bad alternative if you're in Op. Locker or Metro.
Yo so I asked this a few days ago in the wrong channel, but I was wondering what low-profile mechanical keyboards you all would recommend that work well with MacOS. Was looking to buy one for my mom as a gift, and I specifically thought a low-profile one would be best because she has carpal tunnel. She says she likes the sound of the keyboard I use (gateron brown), and she says she liked using her old school mechanical keyboard when she worked at a news agency in the late 80s
My dad has a low profile one for that same reason, but I can't remember what model he uses. My mom has been using the default apple keyboard for many years, so I thought something new would be refreshing
keychron keyboards
What's the budget even?
Probs around 90 - 100 USD
What size do they need?
If you can do 75% the hi75 would probably fit in that budget with some nice switches and some nice pbt AliExpress caps
"low profile"
Thought he was looking for low profile for his dad and normal for his mom @spiral mica
keychron is basically the only option for pre built low profile tkl
Ah ok, I'm looking at their website now
I'll take a look and consider the options, thanks y'all I appreciate it π
Yea, low profile doesn't leave you with as many options
I completely skimmed over the part saying low profile for your mom
Sorry about that
It's ok, I appreciate everyone's help
Consider one of the Alice layout one's, since she's got carpal tunnel the lite ergo layout might offer some relief
Cool, I'll look at it
Don't have much experience with ergo keyboards yet
hi guys my mom is looking for a custom keyboard
Lol wat
someone looking for a mom keyboard
itβs Β£200 lol
I would have bought their ergo to try if I didn't have erghost and dolice
For what it is that's insanely cheap
It doesn't have a screen
Also, the size of the keyboard doesn't really say much about what it's worth
oh i be looking at the wrong one tee hee
what does it have?
It's probably one of the sexiest copper boards I've seen
Is the copper in a 14900k worth $5?
No
But it's also not a raw copper recycling buy
isnt it just the 75% version of the neo80?
So it's a 60%?
No
Whats the difference?
Completely different body design philosophy and aesthetic and weight and options
im looking for a under $150 magnetic keyboard any suggestions?
is the drunk deer a75 pro any good?
thocky keyboard
what
yuh hurd
Is the drunk deer a good magnetic tho
Without spending wooting 80he money
I don't buy budget stuff, no clue
that's not spring ping dildo
Bros acting like youre bound to gateron reds
Shouldβve bought a gx1
Bros trolling
Nah
Any recommendations for a cheap entry level keyboard for gaming
this is a stupid question but does anyone know how much roughly this would sell for?
custom gmk67 with akko v3 cream yellows
where you living
cap
i have akko cream yellows
they arent crazy expensive
and gmk67 isnt too expensive either
doesnt break Β£20
yeah you are right
fr
if its in good condition 30 is max ig
can someone recommend me a keyboard around 70 to 100 or a bit more
30$ maximum
35 if u are lucky
yeahwill do
it's something nobody really wants
$20 if lucky
Shouldβve bought a realforce
Then you wouldnβt have to worry about keyboard depreciation
caring about resell value of a keyboard over how you personally like it, is poor people/hypebeast activity
go buy some jordans or something
I've seen some people use that reasoning as to why they won't buy hifiman
Imo, I don't ever buy something with the intention to resell it so I just consider what it's worth to me
But I also see how it's a fair take
If you know you're gonna resell something
I've also seen it as an argument for buying i7 CPUs over cheaper options
hifiman is nice, i will never understand the memes
I liked most of their planar stuff
still using LC2s, don't think I'll ever get new headphones
my keyboard has silicon inside, but with it, my gasket performance is way weaker. Should I remove it for more gasket performance or leave it in ?
i am a poor person
Arguably for the price 400se although I'm not a big fan
wrong again
Wym wrong
I've owned them and they're pretty amazing
Especially he1000
And he560 is just broken value
Unfair to the rest of the market imo
For someone listening to mainly bassy genre he6 too
Or he6seV2
Haven't used this one but edition xs
I see so many people happy with that one too
Arya for people who love sound stage
You're just saying wrong to something subjective to someone with experience with the product saying it's good
You could maybe also have experience with those and not have liked them
But to say hifiman makes only 1 good headphone like it's some fact is crazy talk
yap more lil bro
your subjective experience is not more valid than mine simply because you write more
funny stuff going on today
Bro
Why are you so angry at headphones?
First you make some odd discriminatory statement about "akg people"
And now hifiman π
Next bros gonna demand we put all sennheisers in a camp to bring back the glory of Bose or something
No need to twist my words, i just said the k1k memer stereotype came true
and I was right
and it seems like anger then sure i guess
I'm not the one writing paragraphs to defend a headphone company
Bro is being discriminatory to headphones
discriminatory how?
saying something is bad is discrimination huh
I expected no less from you
here I'll explain it nicely for you
the people who love the k1k are always a certain kind of person
and you fit that description
hence the stereotype came true
easy enough yes?
Inb4 "k1k is ruining Germany"
Idk, these statements kinda seem crazy to me
Acting like k1k ownership is a "type of people" and acting like hifiman are all bad objectively and someone saying they liked something from them is "wrong".
what does germany have to do with any of this???
I can say you're wrong just like you can behave like you're right
have you ever gone outside??
Germany part is jus me poking fun at the absurdity.
i would like them to answer this question specifically
it's telling when they're astonished by opposing opinions
you don't have to.
no one asked you to
I don't mind opposing opinions
It's just absurd to use some made up stereotype to discriminate in general. More crazy when it's around a headphone...
yall gotta relax
Again, I'm not even going to entertain this absurdity
@patent belfry what board?
Oh boo Hoo π
Another annoying gnat stops interacting with me
Thank god
@patent belfry do you plan to get neo 75 when it launches?
vintage browns, tx medium 80g, gon sticker
trying to pick a plate
Sounds cool. I really should try getting some vintage keyboards to restore
Honestly love restoring vintage headphones and hardware so I'd probably love doing the same to keyboards
i dont like 75%, i would have bought into the ergo to try it out if i didnt already have a dolice
yes i own a 75
Fair
Imo it looks really exciting
Gonna try and get one the day of launch
I am falling into the hype train
i think the TKD 75% is a little better designed
Introducing Pt.1/75 by TKD, a premium 75% custom mechanical keyboard featuring a top-mount design and sleek, minimalist aesthetics. Crafted with aluminum, stainless steel, and brass accents, this 2.45 kg keyboard delivers a refined typing experience. Available for a limited time only, with free express shipping via DHL.
not sure if you've seen that, but it has 4 brass weights iirc
finally a normal looking 75%
isn't that the red one with the pom blanks
crazy
Now I want to get this one too π
Lilac is cool
question
so i cleaned my keyboard today
and since i did
my shift key somehow doesnt work always
if i blow into the switch
it works for a couple of mins
then it doesnt work anymore
unironically it seems pretty nice
i def would do soldered pcb and a nice non meme plate
another victim of shitty contacts in cherry style switches
ultra sensitive to dust and debris and finicky
replace the switch or blast contact cleaner/alcohol and re lube
or do one better and get a hall effect board
replying to this
Realforce is better
they are far from being sensitive to dust
especially not the contact
I picked up the ASUS ROG Strix Scope II w/ the NX Snow linear switches. Anyone have any experience with it?
Picked it up at a pretty significant discount
bad board, but for 68 its alright I guess
the switches are pretty good for a gamer board
ami suppose to cut these
sounds like a cherry clone buyer
I figured it out
ive owned and used several keyboards with genuine cherry MX switches and even some cherry branded keyboards its not a flawless product
shitty technology compared to most of the other alternatives in mechanical boards
like capacitive/hall effect/optical
all 3 are better except maybe optical in some cases
I can confirm
hall effect is not any better than mx
it requires too many sensors to be stable and is too sensitive to the surroundings
even temperature can affect it
also none of the 3 kinds of switches are mechanical
I am tempted to sand off the anodizing on my lucky 65 and redoing it myself with a blue and purple pattern
Why are knobs always so hard to remove
@cunning anvil do you have a github acc or something with repos for your boards?
sk1d
what do you guys think of the whirlwind fx element v2
I redesigned the lucky 65 gasket mount in a way that made me actually decide I can like gasket mounting
I cut the top half of the slide on gaskets to make room, placed a thin 3m double sided tape on the other side, and put a roughly 3mm thick layer of polyethylene on the taped side. I also mounted a really thin and small square of foam on the center of the board to act like a slight stabilizer fot the board itself
works as a keyboard
Looking at getting a somewhat custom keyboard but have no clue what would be good for a beginner
I was looking at a case that already had the pcb and silicon/foam in it and it just needs switches and keycaps but very mixed reviews
Is there a good place to start
neo75, bridge 75
Bet
What are these style of keycaps called
looking for smth similar for low profile keyboard if possible
Just low profile keycaps
i mean specifically the more flat-ness and possibly concave middle
without the curved edges
find it kinda funny these 2 were my best scores
Neo75 released ?
about to I think
End of the month
Have to get the stabs done and switches
looking for a 60% keyboard under 200usd
Neo65, qk65n
Maybe old tofu 2.0 if yk what u are doing
so many thocky keyboards in the chat today
lol
yeah better luck next time
Chat I need a new keyboard, what's something that has that marble thocc?
Aristole
mr suit

I think Iβve got a few to many keyboards
get at least a hundred more
bad
k series is ass
very overpriced
for slightly more you can get v series
Do you actually need full size?
K series?
I'll point out the thing everyone points out about every other battery powered keyboard first just cause I know someone will bring it up, but they have a massive number of battery failures
But more importantly they sound like a $20 board
If you mean full sized boards in general
lack of via support, not gasket mounted (and has switches not great for tray mount)
They cost a lot more just to take up space that interferes with most people's mouse movements in games, most people don't even use the num pad, and they tend to sound less even in the numpad area just due to it acting as it's own gain cavity on the top half
not true, its just LI battery which are basically same in wireless mouse and headsets, if the board itself is not problematic and you dont do something stupid it would not really be an issue
I'm pointing it out cause it's the same issue rk61 has but more reports and everyone flips out over that so it's fair to point it out here
Imo it's just an issue with lithium ion batteries in general
But keyboard community likes to put it on individual boards
rk61 is a pcb issue, not necessarily a battery issue
So may as well give in
What PCB issue?
People really don't know how PCB's work
In this hobby
i sure dont
The fire was a battery issue. From what I heard some dude put a conductive tape over the back and caused a short which overheated the battery
