bcs i never want to open this thing again and dont want to buy a switch puller if im never gonna use it
also it was fine just pulling them out from the top with my long nails 😁

I mean why bother then
Kinda anti-enthusiast, which is opposite of what this channel is for lol
Well it pushed it up slightly to make it easy to take out
My stabiliser was just a bit wonky and I wanted tech support to make sure I didn’t break anything mb
This is true
I however took the risk which was a bad idea but nothing bad happened
But yeah
Eventually when I build a keyboard right I’m gonna invest 3 bucks in the proper equipment
Have anyone experienced about AZERTY keyboard and QWERTY keyboard which should I get for game 🤔🤔🤔
it depends where ur from
get whatever is the norm in ur country
What are u talk about
Well the game are issue must game I noticed are running in qwerty keyboard in default
You can change layouts in windows
I know about that. but me question is has anyone tried first between those two keyboard and has knowledge of that
Like which are better
May be a difficult question it can be
Up to you
Okay thanks for answer of that question then I know what i am going to do I am going to test both of those and see how it went
azerty is the layout used in France mostly
it's not better nor worst than qwerty
I don't know which other country use azerty
that's why I just mentioned France
so true
Can someone explain what the fifth pin is supposed to be? It's from a keyboard I'm looking to mod a removable usb cable for it
maybe cable shielding ground wire?
Yeah I've confirmed that it is,
plate ground maybe
its likely this tbh
no other explanation
I would assume so yeah
You can do it 😎 😎 😎
Are you installing a usb port into the keyboard or doing some sort of external extension type deal
the former
im planning to use a type B port
based as hell
type c has too many pins for me to keep track, easier to fuck something up
Technically you only need the 4 main ones and can still use type c
but usb b is based, originally intended to be used for peripheral devices like keyboards
i like the sturdiness of type b
it is a solid connector
Daily beater.
Rama Koyu
look what i just found:
https://uncrate.com/finalmouse-centerpiece-keyboard/
it looks so good 🤩
btw, is this website is safe to buy from ?
Engraving on the newer protos looks ass
Never thought id like mechanical keyboards so much but after getting an old blackweb keyboard from a friend i fell in love with it and got a razer huntsman to go with my balistic x wireless mouse and for supported software, i love this noisy thing and my mom hates it

If I want the same small tactility of an MX2A Brown, but with a bit more actuation force, and without the Cherry scratch, should I just go with Gat Browns? Currently I'm going to try lubed & filmed MX2A Browns, but.... I predict scratch might remain a bit...
MX clears are made to be difficult to pull off and can mess up key caps
The MX2As have a new barrel spring... Will report with sound demo but looking for something already known as less scratchy, stock
More curious so I can expand at next purchase
From the Finalmouse server -- most recent update
ahha... so its not released yet...
well, that's unfortunate. anyway. i will keep an eye on them.
if they release it, i will definitely going to buy it, but i don't preorder that...
I bet it's going to be 1200 to 3000 USD
its not
i hope not. its not worth that much.
lol
for me 300-400 is the maximum that i willing to pay for a keyboard like this.
Word
ngl I would buy one second hand if the engraving was actually that deep
Not to this market
keebs
Meaning like if it was the "audiophile" audio market or something, $2k on something like that would be normal
i mean, i like how you can interact with the background of the keyboard.
that aquarium theme is my favorite from the preview.
agreed
Cool, bro
I was referencing the audiophile market becuase it's chock-full of ignorant snake-oil-lovers
who spend money on things that don't help ... the Finalmouse is more than that, it's an affectation, a working art piece -- If you think it's poised to compete with other top-of-the-line keyboards, you're missing the point
I'm not looking to buy one but I get the point of the project
lol
and I'm remembering why I blocked this blowhard
Adios
Phew -- Anyway...
why is the website thumbnail vsc LOL
🤯 super rad!! Wow
Maglev keys with software adjustable tactility 🤯
Someone tell Plouffe
Then go MAKE cheap art; don’t malign vision projects that are trying to push boundaries — prices will come down if the tech is viable
its not maglev
and it's probably a scam anyways lul
the mechanism they use is not maglev
you just believe whatever a random company tells you?
Well I believe the main source of what the designer/maker says the product is going to be for now, yes.
Or at least what they believe they can make it
if you used your eyes and looked at the mechanism sitting inside the TRANSPARENT keyboard
you can tell that it's not maglev
That’s not rocket science to do that — just more costly
do you understand how maglev works?
Show me your well-lit, well shot tear-down and I’ll take what you say as gospel of what it is. K? Cool.
If it’s a BS site, I also couldn’t care less. Back to real work
I don't need to tear it down when the mechanism is right there lmao
I suggest you use the brain your parents gave you and think critically for once
hell no
should i go for the keychron v7, epomaker th66 pro, epomaker ajazz ak820 pro, or the rk86
Those maglev switches someone sent here a few days ago are very much tempting me. I think key switches are a little ambitious for a first 3d printer project though. Should I go for it?
v7
Keychron all the way
topre stabs
stabs topre
my keycaps arrived today. they made a subtle sound difference, made it look substantially better, and feel WAY better then e-yoosos crap.
New here but I’ll chime in and say I just got my K100 with OPX keys a couple months ago and hands down the best keyboard I’ve had yet
I went budget, after the key caps I spent 65-80 total. I got the board, switches and key caps seperately though, and that adds up fast
i think my base was like 100 pounds, spent like 60+ on switches then 40 on keycaps then got new keycaps for my bday
I got this working yesterday! Ferris sweep keyboard has been pretty fun so far though a bit more work then I thought.
rule 5
there is nothing to buy on there yet - just looking for feedback
it’s still an adv from which you can possibly benefit so…
point still stands
🤓
<@&750150305383186585>
why you gotta hate on me just asking for feedback
I don’t hate on you, it’s still an infringement of the rules
Hall monitor
u were breaking the rules tho 😛
there is nothing for sale on there - rules does not say you can't link to outside sites but we
that’s still adv…
u were advertising ur stuff , u said something about buying from u..
advertising free stuff sorry
but u did talk about buying stuff. ¯_(ツ)_/¯
you can buy in probably like 3 months - once it gets to that point then I agree it will be breaking the rules
but now if I removed the 1 button that says add to cart (which is disabled) then would it just count as a free tool
I tried to give out something for free without having to do anything and I got warned for that.
and if u dont talk about buying anything , sure
''hi , thoughts on this keyboard designer tool thingy?'' would probably be fine
if it brings something healthy to the chat and you don’t profit from it whatsoever then it may be extenuaning. It still may be considered an adv because who knows if you won’t benefit from it in the future.
i’d not suggest pasting it again or in other servers as it may get you banned
this server isn’t the strictest
nothing agaisnt you. Just a friendly reminder so you won’t get banned as some servers are far more sensitive for such stuff
speaking of selling...
guess who made 15 bucks
my beloved
o7
tbh more of a prototype than a beloved
I'm just excited
gonna visit the PO to send it off today
So how made 15 bucks
sold a pcb
oh nice
someone saw my board and asked if i had extra
it's basically just the cost of manu/ship
yeah i got my boards for 50, 4 extras can be sold for whatever as profit ig
I wonder if anyone would want to buy my extras when i finish my project 😐
108 key lol
depends on the feature set for me
id be down for a full size for the normal board users, if you got something fun
my most abrasive feature is probably the integrated plate case with no lip around the switches, although im sure other cases could easily be made. But it'll have all the basic features gaymmers like. 108 key, one rotary encoder, north facing addressable rgb, hot swap sockets, detachable usb c. I intend to have a usb2 hub inside as well although thats pending me figuring out how to implement it
lopro?
check out the cm4io reference
though that idk if would be easy to implement
is it like, regular full size layout?
did someone nuke the chats below this dafuq

huh
there was a whole convo below that, unless i am totally schizo
yeah i told you it was not low profile and explained a lil bit
someone else was babbling as well
oh ya you said repular prof
someone got upset at someone else
he recommended realforce and got 1984'd
holy moly
hi, I'm looking at Keychron V3 Max. What's the difference between gateron jupiter red and gateron jupiter banana? I know reds are linear and bananas are tactile but not sure whats the difference
tactile switches have a bump in the mechanism, and linears do not. I don't know those specific switches, so I don't know any of the more nuanced differences like feel or sound though
You should buy a realforce instead

NICE
say on skibidi

what if he doesn’t have 200$
secondhand
Good point
👀 no wayy

You need to try linears & tactiles to see which you prefer for your uses. For gaming, generally linear is the preferred choice. As a non-gamer, using mostly for typing and Pro Tools shortcuts, I prefer a tiny bit of tactility.
I heard tactile are similar to laptop keyboards
I will try to find a store that has a tactile keyboard so I can feel how a mechanic tactile feels
Do you know whenever gateron Jupiter red and banana have any sound difference? I prefer a quieter one
No, sorry. YouTube university
Membrane
Based 108 key
Finally took some pics of mine
my cameras glass is literally gone, that's why potato camera
On skibidi but I got 190 ten words and like 96 accuracy or 94
humph 😠
ayone know about keyboards switch color
some of them
i saw green yelllow silver
idk what else
i hear that yellow are better then any key switch color
Anyone got some extra keys?
Out of curiosity how did you do this? I’ve been tempted lately by the idea of a keyboard that only has a numpad, arrow keys and maybe alt, ctrl and f1-f8 but obviously hard to find something so niche
this is a prototype board called the stag42 only 5 made. there are tons of 40% boards out there or its also a good project to make your own pcb or even hand wire a board
only low profile keys, unfortunately
> 5 made
wheres the other 4? :o
Fraser(creator) sold 4 of the 5 prototypes out to his discord
also wow that board is close
its quite small actually
split?
nah lol

i hear they have silent ones now
ur back?
someone gimme thoughts on buying the kit adam keyboard, love making customs but just love the sound and uniqueness of this one
Damn, after around 3 years of being on monkeytype quite a lot, I've gotten to around 90WPM from around 45, which is pretty quick already, I don't know if I need more, but it would be cool to be able to hit 100 consistently
buy realforce instead
Soo my keyboard hardware kinda fucked
If I pres k it will also type ,
And i will type k
as combine would type k
Soo instead of changing my keyboard
Is there any macro software to just disable a certain input combination?
try changing the switch first
I was hitting 70 words in fourth grade and that’s when my computer teacher said to keeps typing because I have talent. You got this
Thanks, haven't been on monkeytype nearly as much in the last few months, so I haven't made much progress
I bought some outemu silent peach v2s because they were on sale for $7 for 70 switches. I liked the quietness, but the gateron clears have spoiled me and they are too heavy. I gave them to my brother.
he had reds before, they feel similar, but smoother, and much quieter
he's happy, and I'm happy I didn't waste my money
Is there an alternative keyboard with g613 form factor with the same price range
I feel like I've even degressed over time, now struggling to get 80WPM consistently without making a lot of mistakes.. but I'll get that back eventually
This thing
Probably easy to solder and components is cheap
But
I don't wanted to deal with that
???
its a hotswap socket
try changing a working switch onto the not working socket
it looks like the socket is broken orno?
so top row is the pink right?
ya
the top 2 pinks are alternates
so the top/bottom can swap the middle 2 out for 2.25s or the whole row for a standard spacebar
6.25 top and bottom , and put enter on top and backspace on the bottom
ofc i could always put halfnum in a more gamer location, but this feels aesthetic
i do appreciate the asymmetry here
trigram
matrix issue dumbass
now make a low profile computer
now make a low profile gpu
Basilisk V3 PRO. Has anyone used it? Thoughts?
mouse ?
two of my friends have the wired version and its great
Getting it. Thanks.
just wanted some help with a keyboard. Wanted to know if there is a better alterative to this would like to be a custom build but if there is anything better within the price range preferably under 80 quid also debating to switch the keyboard with the ak820 let me know?
Imagehttps://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/635315558241271828/1241132965795332127/image.png?ex=664916a6&is=6647c526&hm=b6c09eb4791b08e051410d0b574fb834d7e0c448dfd1f5ed1c80b7b0be552b5e&
for under 40gbp you can't really get anything "better" but it's also not a great board
also the switches are bad, buy some Ciy Sakura or Ktt Kang's , the ones you selected are ass
90 quid office liquidation hhkb from ebay
true
nah I think it didn't ship to sg
Guys help i cleaned my keyboard w a brush that had 99% isopropyl alcohol and now its not working at all
I thought it was good for electronics…
was the brush damp af or did you pour it over the board
I basicLly used like a small cup then dippled it in
it wasnt that much bro im sure
What is the solution i need help pls its a g915 tkl
@sonic cape what can i do to save it bro its 200$
U look like u know something cuz u talk here everytime
what
did you put it on ?
like what part of the keyboard
The switches
and in between there was buildup
The omly thing working is the logo
Just flickering colors bro and the rest is dead
like
lights dead or even the switches ?
wait
what did you clean ? the sockets or what
maybe you killed it w too much isopropyl
im still geting used to us layout
It's a 20 dollar keyboard I bought 3 years ago
I couldn't care less
painful

20 bucks is 20 bucks
20 bucks that reeks of vaseline
its odorless
baller
You guys have any good budget switch recommendations?
Preferably Linear, and idk if switches affect sound very much but if they make a deeper thocking sound, that'd be good too
what's budget
where you're from
and how many switches
So like around 90 switches
75
so 80 switches
60$ is plenty enough
Cherry MX2A Switches are an updated version of the beloved Cherry MX switches. Find more detailed information on the updates here.
MX2A blacks
The Hyacinth V1 switch by Sillyworks now has an upgraded V2 version after almost two years. In contrast to its predecessor, the V2 boasts significant improvements, notably shifting manufacturing from KTT to HMX. HMX's precision molding ensures consistent stem length and tight housing tolerance, minimizing.
I looked up a sound test, damn the strawberry switches sound good
or hyperglide blacks
I'll probably wait a month or 2 after I buy my keyboard to determine if I want to keep the stock keycaps or get new ones
If I had to guess I'll get cheap PBT keycaps
Really I just don't want to spend $80 on keycaps
I was going to buy some nice looking ones on amazon but I found out they're clones so I wasn't sure
tai hao are good price
aliexpress
https://www.aliexpress.com/store/1100044158? for example
depending on the profile, color you can get them cheaper
usually dye subs
also pretty inexpensive too
do you guys know any decent keyboards for $100<
my "D" key seems to be dying, i've swapped the switches and am waiting to see if it makes a difference, if not im gonna go ahead and clean it but i want something i can use in the meantime if i have to go ahead and order a new board
realforce
check out Akko
or Keychron
double shot btw
like how, it takes like 5 seconds to check this if you have it on hand and like 60 if you don't
oh labs finally has a website?
they really need to get a proper keyboard person on their team LOL
true
or atleast someone to consult cause like I can tell it's lasered just by looking at the keycap texture
they should hire blacksimon
wdym , this is clearly doubleshot
https://i.imgur.com/6xL4IMW.png
why look when you can copy paste in the same amount of time

perhaps this is a place holder?
like not finished?
I don't wanna blame individuals on this, I am sure they are doing the best they can
on the apex 3 btw
the chassis material is hte same fucking ABS as like 99% of keyboards
and I would not call a membrane board for over 50 USD a good price to performance
if it is just about input latency a G213 is still about half that for example
me neither but the way everything is written just makes me think the person writing it isn't that into tech
coincidentally the senior content writer self describes as someone like that
oh
should be ''it comes with shit cheap ABS keycaps''
bigger problem imo is them not assuring the quality of their articles
especially since these are the first articles on that product subset
I assume the writer just went with what their so called subject matter experts said
I hope that isn't the case though, that'd be much worse than just the writer saying whatever felt correct to them
@sonic cape@patent belfry ty for the suggestions i will have a look
I'm looking for a new keyboard to replace my rk61
Requirements:
60% standard layout or hhkb
Preferably aluminum housing
hotswap
none or minimal software integration.. ie something that will work well with linux
I've found a few keebs that I might consider
tokyo60/ massdrop x tokyo 60 hhkb layout
pros - aluminum, literally effing perfect in every way
cons - my wallet will cry
keychron k12
pros - aesthetically pleasing, thin bessels, hotswap, affordable
cons - usb c is on left side of the board 💀
keychron v4 barebones
pros - aesthetically pleasing, affordable,
usb-c is on the correct side of the board!!!
cons - not aluminum, kinda thick besels
trying to find an endgame keyboard for less than $100usd is really fricking hard
I think I bought more than twice
yo do you guys think the aula f75 is good
really love the low actuation force and relatively low travel of my gaming laptop's keyboard, it's so good for typing quickly
bro is consistency
Does anyone know which keyboard Plouffe is using in this vid: https://youtu.be/UhpOR9j4hRk
Thanks!
Thanks to Secretlab for sponsoring today's video! Check them out at https://lmg.gg/secretlab
The Corsair One was a very solid pre-built when LTT checked it out almost three years ago, but is Corsair making the most out of the newly added thicccccccness? Plouffe is here to check it out to see if it's worth saving up to put this beefy unit on you...
Hello everybody I am new here and just ordered everything for my first custom keyboard! I did get a few different options for silent switches and just want to know if anyone in here has tried any of them and can let me know what they think.
What I got:
Idobao x kailh elf ultra silent
Epomaker sea salt silent
Cherry MX silent red clear tops
The switches won't be here for about 2 weeks so I have lots of time to choose and with the extras I do plan on using them in other keyboards so it's not a waste
hello. new here, so i'm sorry to this discord server
looking for some level of explanation of abbreviations. (like, what is ANSI or ISO. at least i already know Ten Key Less?).
If I want nordic (ÅÄÖ) keycaps layout. and where lights shine through the letters (not the entire cap).
What are these things called? I have no idea what I'm searching for. (i'm sorto f new with the custom keyboard scene).
i would not , as its a pretty bad sounding board imo
if ur ok with 65% , try looking for a Neo65
whats ur budget?
sent u a invite to mechmarket discord
wait nvm
not allowed since only accept dms from friends
Ile find it
My budget is around $100-150ish
My wallet would perfer to spend less tho
shoot me a friend req
or u could open ur dms 😊
i don see anythin
ah I think its cuz I have all my security crap on
Bro send a picture of the link
lol
bruh moment
not being allowed to share discord invites is kinda dumb , but at the same time i understand why
send me a DM
and ill be able to send u it
would prefer not to get banned
@drifting mauve did u get it?
i would recommend doing some research
figure out what ur looking for in terms of sound etc
need to verify
ah i guess the invite leads to rules , check the #verification channel
nm it was in the serv but not in a chennel so it was a bit confused
just got verified
I'm in
i would also recommend watching some typing tests etc , to figure out what type of sound ur looking for
take them with a grain of salt tho
as they wont be accurate etc
bro ngl that server seems dead af
no? its very active
if u look in the selling keyboards text channel
pretty sure thats the biggest aftermarket discord for keyboards
Yeah but compared to..
absolute brain rot server
ok
don't join it
Then don't even get my started on og irony hub from a few years back
rip
That server got perma banned
and any subsidiaries of it too
It makes me miss 2019-2021 era discord tho
I don't even use that server
I can't remember how or why I'm even in it
I just know its one of the biggest out there
People who know, know
i did get montech m3 as a base.
Nah I literally just know that theirs alot of fricking people in that server
I don't know why, who, what its even about
Its just big man
thats it
anyone know of a good but cheap 60% keyboard?
i wanna get one for my project PC so wont be used for gaming
also wireless is an option cuss i dont want too many wires on my desk
What budget?
maybe like 30-60 bucks
Because "cheap" can mean anything between a rk61 and a tofu60
Some may say its an outdated recomendation
But Theirs a lot of dirt cheap used rk61's on ebay rn
If your patient you can score one for under $20 shipped
is there a average price for wireless?
They go for roughly the same price
You just gotta make sure the listing says "tri mode" or "bluetooth".. etc
There are wired and wireless versions of it and its not always easy to tell which it is
ohh ok cool
The wormier (XVX) m61 is pretty good too
I have the wires version of it
only thing you have to keep in mind with that spc platform is with some early boards the hot swap sockets like to break
In this video I upgrade a keyboard from amazon with a budget of only $20. This is a collab with: @AndyVNguyen @LewisToh @SwitchandClickOfficial and @Keybored
Listen to my new song "WAKE UP" here: https://kadelimusic.com/wakeup.oyd
⬇️Affiliate links to help out the channel ⬇️
Pixel art deskmat: https://kineticlabs.store/desk-mats/kinetic/pixe...
He breaks it in this video
I also broke mine unfortunatly
But if you have the pcb against a flat surface while changing switches its not an issue
I wish someone told me that when I got mine :(
ah
i prolly wont change the switches tho
The stock reds it comes with aren't great
It makes a very good modding platform as long as your careful with it tho
stock its kinda 🤮
if i like
plug it into a USB charger while using wireless will it still work?
Yeah
oh swag ok
tbh i say i wont upgrade it but i usually end up trying to improve anything i get so in due time
Oh theres also the anne pro 2
I don't have any experience with that board but ive heard its good
tbh ill probably go with the XVX cuss it is cheaper than the others
The clear case is also pretty sick
ugh these ones on amazon with like styles on them look nice but the font is gross
I bought it becoase the translucent polycorbonate boards are like $500+ and I really wanted that look
I put mx blacks ("new nixies"), polyfill, retro mac style pbt keycaps and a keyblocker on the r-menu
It was a killer board while it worked
😭
I miss it so much
i might just swap the keycaps for it tbh
would that have a chance of cracking the PCB?
No, just the sockets like to come off
where did you get those keycaps 👁️
ebay lol
They were used
I think you can find them on amazon tho
gotcha!
Not exactly the same but very similer
dyesub pbt and same profile but just no windows key
I love my amazon apple keycaps too
I like ^ these a bit better actually tho
Best legend imo
debatable
I couldn't imagine using any other keycap
it's apple
You have a keyboard problem
I have like 5 keyboards
-rk61
-wk61
-apple magic
-redragon tkl
-razer blackwidow 2013
Other than that a few old crappy dell mebrane keebs
and a broken cherry membrane board with an integrated mouse thingy
I don't count that one tho
And hopefully an aluminum wkl 60% of some kind soon
maybe a brutal60 or a tofu
Whatever I can snag for cheaper
whatt do you guys think of the nzxt function tkl?
no
-M0116J
-gen 3 trackpoint keyboard
-weytec mk06
-rt8255c+
-parts adb
-parts g80 11900
-black doubleshot g80 11900
-pad? g80 11800
-laser g80 8113
-nec ap h412
-one steezy60 build
-one unbuilt steezy60
-g80 3700
-hhkb pro2
-stack of 6 or so free membrane boards
bro I had to google almost all of these I'm not a huge retro keeb person
do you watch Chyrosran22 on yt?
small collection
yes
his alps waxing guide is bs btw
yeah he says it's stupid or whatever
and a few of his reviews
I take him with a grain of salt
he's funny tho
and ltt with more than a couple grains
the swearing kinda got over the top and annoying recently
yeah..
his videos are just fun to watch, just not the best source of info
I figured
miles better than plouffe and hipyo though
i bet
o shit the USB cutout
@crisp patrol have you heard of alexos?

yes but haven't watched him
at all
What're you despair about
He's the type of mfr to nonchalant tune the most perfect sounding space bar stab and say
"ouch it could be better"
then fix it to make it sound worse
I was thinking about getting the case milled, maybe from acrylic or some other non conductive
or just printed
In any case, it doesn't seem you noticed the Choc v1 footprints in MX key spacing ;P
which is what this thing is about trying
As well as exploded not alphas
Regarding this case, if it were to be made of plastic, how would it feel with a metal plate?
funny probably
i mainly just want mac keycaps because i use a mac
realforce for mac
Two faced trust fund shitter
yeah like how tf does he afford all those expensive designer keebs?
like ik most of them are youtube sponsors but still
his family is just filthy rich
This mfr came out of nowhere arriving on the scene and hit the ground running reviewing high end keebs
and he's pretty big in the hobby so everyone sends him protos
he's been in the hobby since 2019 or something
i don't remember when i first saw him
I found his channel about 8 months ago or so
I’m I disgusting and a shame to all keyboard gamers because I use a Razer Huntsman Mini?
plis suggest me a good mechanical keybaord 100%
it is going to be my first mech
idk anything about keys and stuff
i had a wireless keyboard of my dad's
im still using it and its good but i want a mechanical one now
plis suggest :>
UwU
Realforce
meanwhile chyro gets all his shit just because he knows all the right people
and gets sent shit for free every now and then
Sometimes the best keyboard is the one you have 💚
Think of it like this, razer made them, they are made to be used
someones gotta use them
if no one bought them, used them or anything it would be a waste
People are so cought up in what others think that somtimes we forget
Its ok to own somthing that isn't exactly the same as what everyone else has
For example I daily switch between an rk61 and an apple magic
I've been bullied for it
Do I care?
crap no
I mean sure.. good keebs can exist, and there are ones that are worse than others
But at the end of the day
There all just keyboards
Not everyone has to have the best. or best value etc
rk61 sucks though
horribly
tons of pcb issues
Mine has had 0 issues
Weve been through this
I've swapped out so many different switches in it
Beat the crap out of it over the years
that keyboard has seen some shit
Ive modded the jeebers out of it too
Ile go as far as to say I'm proud to be an rk61 owner
Idk.. i guess I just got a good one
I won the pcb solder joint lottery
Now you know what keyboard really really sucks with qc
The wk61
even mine broke
:(
just buy good keybort
I'M NOT RICH LIKE ALEXOS
I'm saving up for a down payment on a house rn I can't waste a single cent
my rk61 works perfectly fine
Why replace it anyways?
(That said I rlly wanna get a brutal60 super bad)
Its only $115 on cannonkeys rn 😭
frog tkl
no tkl
I need the desk space
oh my god theres a frog mini wkl??
ong I'm in love
🤩
its certainly not cheap tho
Keyboard nerds fr the most single ppl ever ngl
#gotem
nah I have a small keyboard drawer under my desk
its from the 90's or early 2000's and its made to fit a full size board with mouse on top of the desk
But when I put a 60% there its just enough space for a standard 7.9x8.7" mousepad
a tkl can fit but it hangs off the side a bit
I need help. My brother is an apple keyboard fan (🤮), he won't even consider giving a mechanical keyboard a try saying they're too clacky or that the key travel is too long. I've tried telling him that there are mechanical keyboards that are as quiet as his apple one. I've told him that there are short key switches with practically no travel, but no matter what he stands firm in his cult of apple beliefs. How can I enlighten him to the awesomeness that is mechanical keyboards?
magic keyboard is good though
🤮
i'd rather have one over some random mx linear board that i'll never use
bro it's not that he can't prefer the apple keyboard, its that he wont give a good keyboard a shot.
depends
there was a period where their keyboards just sucked
newer models are better afaik
I tried something like a 2019 or so mba
it was 65% !!!!!
dude G4 era apple keyboards are the hardest things ever to type on lol
keyboard was godawful
oh no I'm talking about the desktop ones
yeah that era is good
hm maybe they didn't make a magic keeb ver with those switches
they were super low travel
I'd rather have something that wouldn't immediately turn brown from finger gunk
yeah
afaik all of their desktop ones have just been traditional chiclet
that just sounds like you not being a very hygienic person
prices are low for a reason
☝️
sounds like someone doesn't own a bottle of fast orange
I wash my hands excessively lol. Like every 10 mins
excessive hand washing ain't gonna clean your keyboard for you lil bro
oh its awful, you know the amount of lotion I have to use?
that's not what I was saying. No matter how clean your hands are a white keyboard will show gunk, and apple doesn't offer a different color.
?????
or do you only care when it's visible
I've used white caps more than not
no issues whatsoever
aside from dust
and some food cause I eat at my desk
also like
I do, it's how often I want to clean it, I'd prefer to spend less time cleaning it tho.

you're making it sound like a whole ass process when it takes like a minute or two
wet wipe
... oh. sigh. Alright apple I forgive you.
I'm not gonna do a half-assed job. Those keycaps are getting pulled off and cleaned under.
huh
if you gotta pull them often that's a you issue
I live in a dusty ass house and my hair is everywhere and still don't have to clean much
are you telling me you produce so much finger gunk that it immediately gets under the keycaps
doggo hair, and catso hair, and me hair.
this isn't really about the magic keyboard being white now then is it?
hair doesn't make finger gunk
no. You said I was making this sound like a whole process, and I was telling you, yes it is a process
this^
yeah cleaning finger gunk off a keyboard ain't a process man
just wipe it off
have you read nothing I've said? I told you that I was going to do a full cleaning, and not just a wipedown.
why do you need a do a full cleaning over a little bit of dirt on your keycaps?
because if there wasn't as much noticeable dirt on it I would be able to do a full cleaning whenever the keycaps need wiped down.
it would be less often.
you can't even do a full cleaning on a magic keyboard anyways
I have.
Its a pain.
dude is just a stupid kid
It was used, someone had spilt on it. And besides hair gets under there anyway.
i pray he never has to use a laptop
don't spill stuff on it?
talking about yourself again?
and most hairs are long enough to pick out
I got it used is what I said.
and you wouldn't have any of these issues if you bought it new
you realize not everyone wants to sell their kidneys to pay for apple products right? And it was free.
When was the first time I talked about myself
overexaggeration but ok
if it was free you should have no complaints
all I'm seeing is a concerning lack of gumption
you said "dude is just a stupid kid." and you're the only person here you could be talking about.
big badass over here
Uh
Ok man sure
So it wasn’t the second time “I talked about myself”
You should think before you speak
Well now I know you're talking about yourself, there has been no thought put into anything you've said here.
Saying things doesn’t make them true mate

Wise words, you should take a lesson from yourself.
you wouldn't have had to type half the things you did.
Hm yes I’m surely the one projecting on others here
I asked a question, not to be called a stupid kid, dude.
You got an answer you didn’t like and dug yourself into a hole
That’s pretty stupid to me
say stupid shit get called stupid
what I got wasn't the answer to my question. I was asking how to introduce someone to mechanical keyboards.
not to be told "dont try"
he can like what he likes
If that’s how you want to interpret it then sure lol
I just said the Magic Keyboard is good
And his opinion is justified
It was never that he couldn't like apple keyboards, I wanted to know how to convince him to give it a chance.
also you kinda went on a tangent about how white keycaps get dirty soooooo easily
they do tho
Not relevant to your supposed question though is it?
how was my question supposed?
its right here, I dont think thats supposed
it's material
Just sounds like you don’t like the fact that he’s fine with a Magic Keyboard and doesn’t wanna change it
^
not everyone wants to go down an expensive rabbit hole
No I told you, its fine, I wanted to know how to get him to give it a chance. To consider it, if he still doesn't like it thats ok.
Also like if he tells you he doesn’t want to try something new then just respect it?
Why are you desperate enough to ask other people how to convince him
all my irl friends have pretty shit keyboards by enthusiast standards
I don't force them to try my boards
thats not desperation. When you have a question to ask you ask a person.
duh.
sounds pretty desperate to me
how?
especially since you couldn't convince him yourself and assumed it was a sign to ask others
instead of leaving him alone like a normal person
Fr
I was expecting some keyboard recommendations based on what he likes. Not some toxic internet addicts to go on a rampage.
You’re the one using terms like doggo and catso
Objectively you’re the one who has thrown the most insults
I’m quite literally just here for some entertainment on my way to work
Whats wrong with doggo dude? Have you actually run out of ammo so you choose to attack my choice of word?
Yes, you insult me, I will insult you tenfold.
did you even read what I just said at all
Non terminally online people would know
"internet addict"
I'm online for 4 hours a day, max.
ok
most of thats just playing a game anyway.
I will choose not to believe you 🙏👍🫡
that makes you so much better than us clearly
NO I AM NOT BETTER THAN YOU! what is wrong with you why would you suggest that???
We are all equals dude
uhhh idk
what you just said moments ago
😐
^
Yes I said you had a flaw, maybe don't be toxic? I've my fair share of issues as well. But we're all human, and as long as we have the potential for good, we. are. equal.
Damage control mode 💯
um ok we didn't really need a philanthropy speech
if you dont want a speech, dont suggest that I am better than you.
when did I suggest you were better than me
right here.
why would you even think of that in the first place
obviously sarcasm, but you said "that makes you better than us"
yeah I said that sarcastically
I didn't suggest anything
lol, I was about to say that. But still, I would never believe I was better than you.
I meant you suggested that I believed that.
ok cool
thanks =)
according to #peripherals message I "suggested that you were better than me"
@crisp patrol yes I made the same mistake there as I explained here.
why do you feel it necessary to keep this going? I thought we had closed the conversation?

does anyone know what the cheapest aluminum case for the 60HE+ is? thanks in advance
Jonna wasn't leaving me alone. He was being kind of toxic, it wasn't out of turn for me to point that out. But we worked things out in the end. End of conversation. Why are you bringing this back up?
And besides, who are you to speak for Jonna?
oh, cool!
Hmm seems like power abuse to me.
I am sad for humanity now, why do people have to be like that?
I have news for that dude, his opinion will be wrong very often, leveraging moderators to win an argument is dumb.
why do the mods put up with it tho?
if you feel like it you could go to the first message underneath his and reply to that. Then I could just scroll a single message up.
I was scrolling through the stuff he had said, what a minimod.
also he has a lot of really bad opinions.
No problem... I think I'd be dead if I didn't
the correct choice
thocc you seen my recent shenanigans?
thinking about making it plastic case with metal plate, but I'm redoing this case because the plate would prolly be stiff in this...
wonder if i should just make a generic 10.25u x 5.5u case for this
yeah but metal cases scary and cnc expensive, would rather cut a plate and nothing else lol
Basically yeah, it's gonna be enclosed so i don't gotta worry uh
idk
alu isn't too bad but gl finding someone to cnc just one unit
sendcutsend can do plate
but that's why case is prolly 3dp in the end
yeah but unless it's stacked alu, SCS prolly won't do a case
which actually sounds kinda dope
I'm just making a rectangle bc I'm lazy
lol
Hmm, any standard case? gh60 still around?
We got wireless bakeneko before gta 6 💀
60?
ooh i should make a wireless fullsize
jkjk i already did i just need to case it
i honestly have too much going at once
my standard
oh wait
3u not 4
how do i know if some switches can fit in my board?
i currently have redragon kumara with blue switches
they terrible fm
if you have 3 pin pcb you have limited amount of choice
Seems oike i hsve limited amount of choice
can you take out one of the switches and tell if it’s 5 pin? or send a pic
Its 3, i know
I inew
About 8 hours a day
welp, you have two choices either pick some outemu style switches or clip regulae 5 pin switches yourself
there’s decent choice for outemu style switches nowadays so, I’d not be worried
pick whatever switch you like based on the sound tests comparison
also, if you want to lube them yourself or want stock experience
stock is fien
i was thinking about KEYCHRON Gateron CAP Switch Milky-Brown
i want some kinda quiet
maybe even silent whites
which one is the new one?
cuz that lil foldy thing is kinda 🥵
The lil one
nice
Yuh
huge upgrade from that ziyou lang and it aint even mechanical
mini keeb made for mac > cheap sub $30 mech
:D
The ziyou lang is mechanical
I just dont like it for homework and productivity
I meant the mini keeb isn't mech
Yup
For rubber dome haters.. I implore you to buy a Packard-Bell 5130. The only issues I personally have is that the spacebar rattles a bit and the pipe/backslach key is under Enter and to the right of the Right Shift.
IMO, it feels better than any sub-$40 mechanical I've used.
It is a dome w/ slider keyboard is like a knockoff Topre switch feel.
resist the rubber dome hate propaganda
Rubber Domes w/ Sliders are pretty good, IMO.
I use this thing at work.
(Yes, it's mine, not the store's.)
Best $20 keyboard I've bought to date.
winkeyless
u should send it to me so i can try it
Idk, i remember us talking about keyboards, but then i checked our dms and i think i remembered wrong
To winkey or not to winkey?
I use the win key a lot
But I really dig the look of wkl tho
I already bought a cheap set of kbd doubleshot robo caps
hhkb bottom row>
so regardless at least I wont be looking at a hideous windows logo
There is nothing uglyer than a windows 8-11 logo on a keyboard
the 7 and earlier logo is vibey tho
hhkb bottom seems like a waste of real estate
I like how wkl has the bare bones old school unix look while also being familer
and don't even get me started about the delete and ~ button placement
it just aint for me
I could live with a "code" button tho
thats like saying wkl is a waste of real estate
I'm saying its a trade off of aesthetics/function
(for me at least)
I know some people are more efficant and productive with hhkb.. and I am not one of those people
If I got a wkl I would be happier with the way the board looks..
But I would be sad the win key is gone tho
I guess for my picky ass.. perhaps the perfect keyboard doesn't exist
In the perfect world I would go winkeyless on only the right side and keep the left one
RWKL?
I don't think such a keeb exists tho
I guess I could either go standard and put some kinda keyblocker on it
Or buy a wkl and dremel the left block off...
..but I would hate to destroy such an expensive block of aluminum
WKL > HHKB > WK
Cheap aluminum hotswappable?
realforce
guys, otemu brown switches are good (i'm not buying, just need to know)
(like good when it comes to brown switches)
I mean, most switches on the market last really really long.
But when it comes to sound and feel, you’ll just have to try until you find the right one.
well, i already have my keyboard. my classmate is buying a keyboard and happend to be with Otemu brown
What would you guys say are some good beginner mods for someone to do on their first keyboard?
I have tried outemu blue, brown, and red. Outemu brown are the worst feeling switches I have used, and second worst sounding (only beaten by outemu blue). Outemu reds are alright, but really pingy.
Replace it with a realforce
outemu blues are like loud and scratchy
Oke, gonna tell him but he already bought that keyboard
I should have convinced him to get a keyboard for 20€ more that is also wireless and has Kailh Box Brown/Black/Red. Endorfy Thock Compact Wireless
Any recommendations on switches that resemble Cherry MX Silent Blacks? Both in actuation force and soundprofile?
Topre
Still the same soundprofile? 🤔
you could try gateron silent blacks , theyre pretty good
keychron q6
ipad
wk870
Steve Jobs
very Thocky Sho S60V2
pro2ge
is there any good wkl keyboards under 130 usd?
Thanks for the tip
Does anyone have a tactile switch recommendation with an actuation force of about 45g with 50g bottom out?
topre

mx browns with a 50g spring
new ones I should mention
mx purple
if you like breaking keycaps, sure go for it
yea
Main reason I'm looking for new switches.. the Box White's I've been using for the last 4~years absolutely crack keycaps like crazy
fr tho, newer mx browns are fine if you spring swap them
I have been using HG browns with TX L 60g springs for months at work now
I was looking into some Gateron baby kangaroos
have heard people liking those
They seem to be pretty popular on reddit at least
💀 can't wait for the next meetup to have 30% bobas/u4t again
On the reddit posts for the baby kangaroos like, 40% of the comments were "How does it compare to u4t?!"
And the rest was they are fantastic
