I remember when I was making a purchase inquiry for this a few months ago
And you said that after I swiped the card
Then looked into those
And realized
I goofed
But hey I’m really deep into modding now which is fun
Can you change the keycaps or it you get what you buy?
Why not just buy silenced switches then
I do, but do you know how much quieter you can make a keyboard after that?
It’s so satisfying to type on a full blown mechanical quieter than any chiclet or membrane you’ve ever heard
I went from kailh silent tactiles to gateron ink v2s and next up id love to snag some bobagums
🤦
You don’t know man
You just don’t know
And I’m going gentle on these reds
Here’s the kailh vs normal gateron pro reds
Mid too.
do i see SA keycaps
Has anyone flimed before
I have kalix type switches and want to flim but idk which type to get 1.25mm or 0.15mm
No
Any good keyboard brands to buy a prebuilt one looking for anything besides a full size 100%
Look at the message above
perferably new soryr
Your loss
loud
I mean if you put a mic right up against an art farting the mic will push the gain way up to balance everything so
ig
Should i put the foam under the silicon? Will that make a differnce
whats foam sound like
honestly i started prefering my old redragon keyboard when typing, the outemu blue switches on it have a tactile bump, the logitech blues do not
I’ll trade a little bad for silence tbh
Mom says I’ve got the realforce at home
Oh you don’t get the joke
“We have the x at home” meaning we have a shit alternative
It would’ve been funny if you got it
But you diddnt get it

First pass complete on a wireless remix of the Le Capybara EC/#topre #keyboard
Includes an accelerometer which is planned to wake from deep sleep since we can't scan while in that state, opamp with shutdown capabilities, and all designed to try to maximize runtime on battery despite the inherent challenges.
realfortho
realforty
If you could take that kinda thing, split it in half, and mount them to the end of your arm rests, I’d be interested. Otherwise god that looks so jank
Not that kb specifically I meant that form factor. Something about, that bend inwards.
Makes me uncomfy looking at it
I’m not an ergo guy by any means but wouldn’t you want them going outwards rather than in?
This ec corne kinda deal
This has
Mad potential
If you can workflow without a mouse decently that is
it's just a corne lol
it kinda has like 10derivatives
hmm maybe i have been hanging too much in 40s
topre lily when
58
Whats a reasonable price for a corne setup that includes switches / doesn’t demand soldering
what case
Im still on the front page of google trying to figure that out
Introducing the Unicorne Ecosystem by Boardsouce: A Symphony of Design, Functionality, and Style

This is a bit of cash for what I’d essentially want to test out. I’ll take a peek at the preowned market, but, the only real speed bump to these seems to just be layering numbers and symbols. And that’s cake
This is really interesting
This is like, “Vim, but with any posture you want”
yeah splitkb might be better for that
unic is a premium version
i do also have one that's acrylic skeleton
atmega though
hi, im looking for a keyboard with an ISO layout (or just the portuguese layout because of work) and low profile if possible. I was looking at the mx keys S from logitech and was wondering if that was the best option for my requirements? I just use it for work and light gaming (no fps games, mostly for flight sims, ets2, some multiplayer games on steam and gta v on occasion). I might be able to get it at 100 euros since thats what amazon is offering at the moment. Should I go ahead and purchase it or are there better options?
hey guys, how quiet are cherry brown switches? i currently have a keyboard with blue switches and my gf is quite annoyed about the noise
so currently searching for a quiet mechanical keyboard
preferably full layout
My brother in Christ let me tell you
I’m something of a silent keyboard enjoyer
then share your endless wisdom
If you wanna game while the lady is asleep with 0 issues
Cop yourself a Logitech mx3s for starters
what is the top one?
People always forget how nasty mouse pinging is
That is a lot of things
Can you pull a switch out of your current keyboard
Bin that blue pos
tell me master
Im struggling with the base part. Barebones are like, only $20 less than their fully built counterparts which is stupid
You open to the idea of getting your fingers covered in lube
?
i am a machinist
so thats a daily struggle for me
i am not open to the idea of soldering my own switches
just so you know
what switches does that top keyboard use?
Oh hell nah neither am I
Gateron Silent Black Ink v2 Switches 5pin RGB Linear Switch for DIY Mechanical Keyboards (108PCS, Silent Black Ink) https://a.co/d/5Bqddlm
These babies
But they don’t sound like that without a little loving
Haimu silent are really good
^ if it’s a better deal by all means
No idea about that tho
The hard part is recommending you a base cause. There’s a lot of options and for the most part it’s personal
If you just want a silent mechanical keyboard for the late night gaming sessions hit the preowned market for like, a GMMK2 for $50 or something
And get switches
But if you wanna embrace the silent superiority all day every day
Idk
Money
i want a model for german layout
also, i can use the keycaps i currently have right?
You’re better off doing the shopping. As long as it’s a plate mount / 5 pin hotswap you gaming. And yeah
Def
i will def come back to this but right now i have to walk the dog
ima send you a FR
I don’t help in DMs sorry
@magic wolf Fr was just so i know who you are XD also i am back
what are some websites to shop for keyboard parts?
It feels more worth your time if you’re adding to the search keywords in this discord
Like a knowledge base
You lower 48?
?
Websites depend where you’re from
what is lower 48?
It’s a term for mainland usa
ah
48 so minus hawai'i and alaska
but no, i am from austria
so european market is where its at
Oh then I don’t know lmao.
ok, but sites do you use
Keychron ships globally but the ogs here don’t like em
i can browse
and search in the european markets for the same thing
https://www.gateron.co/products/gateron-switch-tester-version-2 is that worth to get? so i know which to buy?
Just find a hotswap keyboard you like with south facing LEDs if you want rgb
as far as switches go I’ve only owned 2 different sets, and its parroting to just say shit I’ve never even used before
I love the silent ink v2 tho so
looking at this the gateron red are even quieter than the blacks you sent
Those are just normal blacks
Silent switches will be declared as silent switches
Because they add dampeners to the switch itself
those are the ones you sent
also are those the same? https://www.amazon.de/Gateron-Switches-Linear-Mechanical-Keyboards/dp/B09PL6Z4L5?th=1
looks like it
Let me show you something
shoot
On top is a gateron red gpro
On the bottom is the silent ink v2
The only thing that makes a silent switch a silent switch, is those “pads” that look white, see them?
one the prongs there?
Otherwise, with linear switches, it’s mostly just housing material / combinations
Yeah, the white spots
so the bottom out gets dampend?
Quite significantly, remember that these come out of Asian markets so be certain what you’re buying is a silent switch if that’s what you want
Gamer shit honestly
Razer / steelseries / asus / w/e
Besides that, it’s a personal taste thing as far as, material, price, form factor,
what shell do you have for you keyboard?
I started with a keychron q7, appealed to me for having a ton of utility keys, and comes with via firmware pre flashed
Thing is heavy as a brick too
thats good
Yes and no
i think so
Metal has a way of reverberating sound
But
There’s fun things you can do to deal with that
like a foam insert or smth?
I got a layer of this stuff in mine
Makes the gasket stiffer (sadly) but it is the most quiet thing I’ve tried
Most just use PE foam but most also just want to cut out the high end sounds from their keyboard too so
Do i habe to leave the green thing open when doing tape mod
Okay bro just go into another sever
Server
Like mechkeys
Or hipyo
And ask
Were not putting up with your dumbass
This is my pcb someone said i have to wire Z to L shift then back to the ND42
Or there no work around or I can just solder the bottom
You dont have to anwser if you dont want to
If you feel attacked by words just ignore them
Ive noticed that i can tape over it i couldnt find something like tht on yt
On my keyboard thats why i asked
Bro ur just trolling
Im just a beginner
Watch hipyo tech, switch and click and alexotos
Just put everything back on.
When i plug my keyboard in it lights up green but the keys dont work.
In bluetooth mode they work tho
U fried ur switches my dude
Or broke the solder
Sry what does TL;DR mean
Keyboard doesnt work, key presses dont register.
But if i plug my keyboard in the power light turns on.
But if i use it in bluetooth mode they key presses work as seen by the led in the video.
But i cant figure out how to connect bluetooth, doesnt seem to work either i guess
I will try rn after this round of warzone
Thanks for trying to help
I tried resetting with VIA, via only recognized my keyboard in bluetooth mode but i couldnt reset it.
fn + j + z should also reset the keyboard which of course dient work bc my keys dont register
No
Theyre here!!!!
you cant fry a switch lmao, its just metal parts making contact
Well this dumbass wouldn’t know
That font and placement 💀
i doubt he would find that on a budget pcb tbh
Chat
I just did penny mod
And
I think i became a nerd
I did the layout without looking at my phone
Is that normal as a keyboard enthusiast
touch typing?
It would be more weird if you couldn’t as someone in our generation
Found it next to the space bar, says reset on it
Were the generation that replaced cursive with typing classes
wowie didnt expect that
try it but i dont think itll work personally
you very likely damaged the pcb
but try it
Not in canada
We gotta have cursive now
Till like gr12
And now gr13
Oh yeah, that’s gonna be real useful
but i think gr13 is optional
Good job Trudeau
Signture thats it
And already have one
Our economy
Im from toronto and i gotta say bro
Hes acc giving money to ukraine and not for canada
I mean bro its been like 7 years for the elignton subway station
I have no idea what you’re talking about I just like saying that when I hear about a Canada moment
Pretty sure if all ppl in Toronto decided one day in summer to get a shovel and fix it we will be done in a week
Fr
ok this might be a stupid question but do i have to press it while plugged in or out
press it while its on bt/wireless mode i believe, i may be wrong, check the manual
but i believe you dont need to have it plugged in
Check manual
what is a good pcb with hotswap and led and where can i buy one
id suggest just getting a new barebone kit right away
pcbs alone are kinda pricey to get
also, itll be better than the k8 pro
but wont support via likely
Ok like a whole keyboard or are the kits to build one
because cheap keyboards/pcbs dont
hi75, sugar65
Thx
there are far more barebone kits but, these two just came into my mind. do some research tbh
Yooo thats rllly cheap
Should have done more research on kits rather on what keyboard i should buy
Thank you
which switches do you have
Ws morandi
sure, thatll do
Ultimatly i want a creamy schlaffy sound
aluminium keyboard with foam is creamy/marbly mid thock
plastic keyboard are more creamy tho
but, you do have to fill plastic keyboard with something to make it sound less hollow
Is the hi75 already modded or is it just the case with the pcb
Ill just use the silicon from my broken k8 and some foam i have layin around
And tape
its built barebone kit. just put in switches, keycaps and lube stabs if possible
the silicon pad may not be compatible tbh
with other keyboards
the plastic mold shapes are different
and standoffs
If i just cut the silicon to fit the case
id suggest just get the hi75
you dont need silicone pad for aluminium cases most of the time
probably monsgeek m3 if you manage to get one at a discount. itll be still more pricey than the hi75 tho and no knob if you prefer knobs
cant think of any tkl kit srry
100% there are but i dont know of any thats decent and at around $50
Ok thx
Whatsgeeks.com is it legit?
Anyone know good cheap mx reds or anything that sounds like MX reds, looking for a TKL keyboard
How did you manage to list two useless mfs and one of the most pretentious mfs in the hobby
Figure it out
You shouldn’t be talking like that if these people are your references
No im talking abt switch and click like sound switch video
And hipyos modding
And alexotos hardcoreness
Whats a good keyboard under $60 thats black
Ak820
Idk anything about keyboards but what is a good budget 100% keyboard
Where r u looking on
Office keyboard
Lets goooooooooo
the epomaker and the ajazzstore website
Ajazz is better
Epomaker is basically reseller
but epomaker does have free shipping
But i prefer ajazz cuz no preorder
can you send a link please
I'm looking for a mechanical backlit (don't really want rgb) keyboard under $60. Any suggestions?
Search ajazz ak820
also should i get the ak820 pro?
Press on the first link that pops up
It depends look at the features
Also I don't want a 100%. Something smaller
Magee 60% only one color mod so just turn off the rgb
I don't want loud switches and that one has blue switches. But other than that that keyboard looked great
Probably one with brown switches
based
anyone knows any shine through keycaps that isnt side printed\
I'll just look at their other keyboards
Just switch the options
There more
@magic wolf opinion on ak820
you'd be hardpressed to find that "mechanical keyboard" at that budget that are not obnixously clacky and loud
I give opinions on shit I know about
Oh
well then buy it and if u dont like give me for 99% off
And a oreo
I'd love to see stuff like this replace razer and corsair shit that floods local store shelves everywhere, at that price they totally could too.
ight Ill give you my opinion. this thing checks all the boxes
Im pretty sure it has a shit case but saw sound test pretty decent
Then imma tape mod
Thats it
New stabs
New switches
New keycaps
its cool that its an actually budget kb that gives you the chance to do all that and not do some absurd shit for $140 like
this thing one sec
Total build cost around 150 cad
Acc 200
WHAT ARE THOOOOSE
THIS IS DEF SOME RAZER COLLAB
literally says razer on the board
The switches im seeing r pre lubed
Let’s sell a keyboard more expensive than the ak820 but design it in a way that anyone interested in modding is stuck with their thumb in their ass
So the ak820 is good?
Bro the switches on amazon r so annoying
Pre lubed
I dont want that
I want back pain
It’s probably not exceptional at anything but it has all the things $2000 customs have. It seems like a super good way to start developing your tastes
anyone got any recomenndatino for a 75% / TKL Keyboard set,
am considering buying the hi75
depends on your budget
the hi75 and hi8 are both good budget board so if you like them go for it
like max 100 -105 bucks
yeah hi75/hi8 or monsgeek m1 on aliexpress
ok thx
I pulled that out of my ass
huh
Hey
I need a switch recommendations, I'm looking for a Creamy, silent and deep switches, around 50$ for 90 switches
anybody got some?
Are Akko double shot pbt keycaps any good for $60?
Rn I have the default keychron ones that came with my board
does anyone know where to find a 108 key iso pcb
wdym
60 is quite expencive you can get a set of dubbleahot pbt's for 20~
to have it always tight whilat still being able to increase distance a sort of slack whilst still having it tightly routed
it kinda is now maybe it wasnt created for looks but people use it for looks now i think im not sure tho
ye i remember and old heasdphones too
yes
ye and tiktok
no they started beutifying them because of the use, and then copycats claim looks whilst being copiecats leading to a lack of understanding
and the airospace connector is because the connector would wear out so would need replacementa but the coil is the expencive part so you just replace the ends on it
but more expencive means more better to some, thats how nzxt grew
lmao
i like nzxt but its expensive for no reason that why i dont own any parts from them but i have all corsair so no difference lmao
What are the best ~$70 keycaps
yea both are build on hype
thats a high budget, get some that you think look cool and google how they sound, anything solid pbt dyesub or dubbleshot pbt is usualy a good bet, if you need shinetrue your gonna have limited options but you can still get some nice ones
like these are 70 bucks, and there quite unique as they are 75% pudding so production is expencive for em
meanwhile these are dubbleshot pbt's and there 20 or so bucks for a 136 key set (136 and 166 key sets have keys that may be different for different layouts like iso enter and shifts as well as 60% shift keys and enter keys)
keycaps are more a subjective thing you buy for how they look rather then sound, tho they may sound awfull due to being made of a thin abs or something, like spacebars may echo a bit at times
Yes but keycaps are also a HUGE part of a keyboard sound….
I’m leaning towards these because they look great and apparently are great quality and good sound
the pbt vs abs or dubbleshot yes, but set to set not much
Ahhh okay that makes sense
pbt and dubbleshot pbt are a relitively soft sound as they are a softer plastic then abs so they don't rattle as much abs sets do, tho some switches use a pom cover so then it doesn't matter as much
I’m pretty sure set to set matters a lot like how thick the plastic is and all that..
depends on price, akko caps are fine, so long as your not paying to much
Now I am no expert but I know enough to be confident in saying that
Yes but having too thin also isn’t good
So are these Akko ones worth the $60?
it can, but usualy not that significant, unless you grab an expencive set that is weight ballenced vs a cheap set thats thin sure, but usualy within price bracket its fine
maybe 35 at best but not 60

pbt, pbt is a plastic as far as my understanding goes just as abs is, altho dubbleshot as far as i understand just means there were 2 injections
Blud took time to google it
Is there an ISO alternative to the NuPhy Air75 V2?
i.e low profile, not that expensive and actually looks good
weightballenced is reffering more to part production matterials at a set thicness should have a set weight if its not in that weight it would mean its not evenly thick far less time consuming then mesuring
no to check my spelling on what i was saying before it
its done in a lot of expencive parts, where after its ejected from the mold and finnished its done on the belt and ejected from it if it fails, and if the fails exceed a certain % it will shut down the line for inspection
and they wear out and are imperfect quite often
Ikr now I’m getting a speach of how they are allegedly made
Preferable $70 or less
If needed I can go higher
K thanks for the help and actually getting to the point
i never said its used for caps, i said in plastic parts, usualy more expencive ones
Bet
which of these switches are the quietest?
yeah, i know but of those which are the most silent?
i do plan on buying them
hmm alright
so of those, which feel nice and have a nice clicky sound that aren't that loud?
or just which should I go with?
of these switches
yeah i know, i saw your messages. im just asking of the ones they are asking me to choose which of those feel nice, have a nice sound but that don't sound annoying
idk what this means
Is there any retailer selling the hi75 thats not in china
I have to pay 40 dollars shipping fee in every shop
Am from switzerland
thx
thank you men
@patent belfry wtf is a shaft name, i just want the basic diy white version with rgb
Is getting a k617 worth the extra 10 to gettting a generic keyboard and why?
ahhh i have to organize the delivery myself
ok shipping fee is still like 30 bucks
but the keyboard is way cheaper
did a shipping calculation so its just an estimate
thats actually rly nice
except for it being chinese and the ui giving me headache
👍🏿
o 3o;;
im rusty
my friend hit 117 😦 i feel inadequate lol
beginner keyboard guy here, did a stupid and was yanking too hard on a switch (eventually found a thread that explained a much better way) but the bottom locking bit on it broke off on the one (and i ended up not being able to get it out), any way to salvage it and get it back out?
I have uhm “standards”
Keyb is a Corsair K60 RGB Pro low profile with Cherry MX speed keys and some aftermarket keycaps
dude i did it to another one while wiggling it why is this so easy? did it just come with a crappy puller or something
the plastic on the locks is so easy to snap
Yea. If you can’t get it out from the outside just open it up
sorry wdym open it up? like get down all the way to the PCB or open the switch up
Open case, remove plate from pcb, remove foreign debris, if you wanna try out mods now’s the time, it’s barely a 10 minute task
alright thanks
Pandabuy?
guys my keyboard "left" arrow key is not working so does anyone know how to fix it?
dead switch?
yea kind of the i have pressed like 15 times for it to work
yeah, dead switch or dead popped out socket
have you been hotswapping your switches
what's hotswapping?
what that too💀
it's in the laptop
should’ve told me that in the beginning
there are youtube tutorials on how to repair them
take out the key (aslong you’re able to) and replace the membrane
not just the membrane literally but you get it
and i’m not much into membrane keyboards on laptop ones so, i barely have any experience w them
you're just talking out of your ass since it's clear you don't even know how a membrane keyboard works
disassemble the entire laptop till you get to the keyboard assembly and somehow clean the specific contact where the key is dead and hope that it was just dirt buildup
otherwise get the assembly replaced
i will do that but if it's not a dirt buildup then yea
btw i am using a white ASUS laptop btw @boreal rivet
i have ‘t slept today so i barely have two gears in by brain
right the color and brand matters a lot here
What are some recommended creamy switches? Budget don't matter but would be great to get combination of budget friendly and expensive
So far Akko yellow cream switches have attracted me but would great to see other options
sound profile comes from everything that makes a keyboard a keyboard
buy realforce
you should be shopping for switches based on type, material, bottom out weight in general etc
feel.
Idk I just got into keyboards recently
right, I dont blame you, youtube video titles for this stuff is criminal
Cause I'm building my first keyboard now
And I just want to ask for different switches for future builds
what have you used and does the keyboard base you're using come with some?
I went with akko purple lavender switches, cherry profile keycaps and a 98 layout keyboard frame
The keyboard base does come with the board and keyswitch holders already. Since I'm new I see that sodering the board is kinda tedious
who said you need to solder
I have a mate that builds custom keyboards as a side job and I did watch him do it as well. Unless I missed something then idk.
this is what you wanna be looking at when you're buying switches
you ever use a tactile or clicky before?
Yeah I think my purple lavender is tactile
oh embed fail..
Yeah I do
odd
Yeah img ain't loading
Lol
Can you explain it
Or is it too long to explain
And an image is more effective way to show
Shopping for switches comes down to feel. Not for sound. Unless you like blues. Nobody likes you if you like blues
It ends there
Basic mods can make keyboards sound on completely opposite end of sound profile with the same switch
When you build your keyboard you’re gonna do some basic free mods and you’ll notice just how tiny basic things like….1 vs 4 layers of PE foam does. Then you’ll hear what different caps sounds like
Then you’ll lube a switch and see what that does
Film a switch
Try out different material plates
All of it
You still probably don’t understand anything I just said now, but you will, when you start doing this stuff
yeah I just got into this for the past 2 months
describe what is a topre switch mechanically.
I mean he’s right but you won’t learn anything
It’s not a bad recommendation, just a, too frequent one
It's great that there's prebuilt, but I prefer more of the DIY aspect of keyboard builds. I'm more of a hands on person
there’s way worse hobbies you can get into.
if someone asks you
“i want a budget linear mechanical keyboard”
do you always answer with realforce?
Based
That’s hobby but trying to make it sound like denial
it’s all preference and y’all topre lovers should stop enforcing ya opinion to others
topre switches few years ago fine…
nowadays you can get actually decent keyboards for $50
An assembly consisting of a housing, slider, rubber dome, capacitive spring and the PCB. The housing together with the PCB keeps everything in one piece while the slider is used as an interface for keycaps to mount on, it also serves to stabilise the switch. The switch action is provided by the rubberdome, which provides resistance as well as tactility. As the dome collapses under the weight of a keypress, the capacitive spring located under the dome is also depressed, thus creating capacitance which is detected by the PCB and subsequently registered as a keypress.
Jesus this guy loves his topre
you seem to think topre is a membrane keyboard simply because it employs rubberdomes, which is blatantly untrue
it’s not
no shit
Do you cuddle your realforce at night?
no i leave it on my table
that’s like comparing well… ipad to an android phone basicly
Could just say Apple and oranges
I just understand how the switch is contructed enough to describe it
but you still force your opinion of topre to others
same goes for MX
But this is LTT discord
and alps SKCM/SKCL
bro I didnt think asking for recs would lead to an actual argument
This is LTT discord
because its the better choice
This happens
not for everyone
it is really
Grab some popcorn next time
proven by every single og who quit with a realforce
damn, how many times does it take you for understand the term budget and preference
or some variation of topre
aight, thanks for your tips and guides. I'll look into it.
I gave you one tip.
and how hard is it for you to understand that something expensive that lasts forever is better value than it's complete opposite?
how long does it take you to understand the term budget
“my max budget is $50”
nah, i’ma recommend you $200 keyboard
sucks to be this inflexible
Max budget of $50 ima tell him they should not be shopping for a keyboard
Steal one from your work
i mean +10% they’d prolly be fine with that but, not a price of a whole three keyboard for them
Mfw $20 shipping
literal solid $50 keyboards.
aula f75 from taobao, that’s $25-30 not even $50
ajazz ak820 pro
they’re not best ofc
but 100% better than any gaming branded company peripheral dogshit at that price point
i’ll make a sound test of the f75 because i hasn’t been doing much or any
Yeah the ak820, wish someone slapped me with one when I’m at Best Buy buying my 3rd (big gamer brand) keyboard
Something that checks all the boxes at least
The bare minimum
bro hasnt heard of used goods
and if you want to tell some people dont want used
then sucks to be that inflexible
shipping from ebay is usually extra money
its not hard to find a good condition topre board second hand for cheap
their loss as always
Why are they selling it if it’s the best?

i wonder, are the keycaps even pbt on the older versions
how have you been in this hobby for years seemingly without even knowing of mm
because used abs keycaps…
what if the person doesn’t want an used keyboard? good question
can't read can you
Even if you can nuke it with windex it’s still gross
what is they don’t want that unique tactile feeling?
it’s again preference.
that is such a dogshit argument
they ask for linear mechanical switches… give them.. linear mechanical switches
I could just say what if they don't want random MX tactile #219
if theyre in the market for linears they just want the wooting 60he anyway
again sucks to be this inflexible
can't imagine how they would go on with their life like that
what if they don’t have good availability for used rf
then too bad?
what if they dont want their keyboard to look like something from the early 90s
buy an R2
what if realfroce goes out of the question what do you recommend them at $100 bucks
what if they’re saving up for a pc and don’t want to waste up that much on a keyboard
pretty sure most keyboards with a gasket and plate can be modded to do that
for some people even $30 is alot for a kb
again, anti budget factor argument is dumb
if they can't even afford 50$ for a keyboard then I think they should have other priorities
I agree with this take
thanks for the validation
if you cant afford to feed yourself for 2 days you need to be stealing a keyboard
so, you say if they have super crappy keyboard they shouldn’t upgrade to a less crappy one
but, if they don’t have money for other stuff yes. prolly valid. but, if the person expl. says that he wants $30 keyboard then what
yes, they should upgrade to a really good one so they don't have to waste money in the future
if a person explicitly says he wants a $30 keyboard then I'd say dude get your life together first
or maybe don't cheap out on a gift
and on the other hand there are far better cheap gifts to give than some shitty $30 keyboard
the 2nd hand realforces are being sold by people who got psyoped by mxid and built their own
but, was if $30 keyboard would be plentiful for them
plentiful at the current moment sure
ive sided both takes equally
human greed knows no bounds
because you can’t answer with realforce to everything
mostly
tbh, even your realforce can fail at some point
so can your heart
maybe not the switches but the pcb?
especially with how the japanese discount anything and everything thats even slightly discoloured
you can prevent that by keeping the mtn dew away from your table
also, what if one’s don’t want to keep one keyboard forever
I'll update you in 15 years pal
there are million requirements that simply “get realforce” can’t get
i’ll update you in 15 years if my jerry fails
based tbh
sure I'll set my calendar for 2 years down the road as a preemptive measure
so uh, what kinda traphouse mods can one do to a realforce
yeah, more like you’ve invited me to a server where you just got me banned
also, deleted the invite and hide your tracks very good job sheesh
that’s definitely nothing i should point at
thats not traphouse mods
all you need 👍
for the unsophisticated really
lmfao
@patent belfry also, i’m not but what you’ve done basicly falls under rule 5 in this server under self promotion
personally its cement or nothing
oh man this is how you know you took the L
guys i am currently using a mechnical KB and whenever i press the "down" arrow key the light in the top right goes OFF and ON so does anyone know how to fix it?
yeah, i’m partially rude to him due to that, he just got me banned from a random keyboard, i don’t care about the server
but, it’s self promotion
you’ve invited me to a server
and got me banned here
(the first point stands)
real petty eh
13 year old playground snitch behavior
he does this everytime
“feel free to join my” server
i didn’t say i want to
you sent me the link regardless
lmfao oh my god
this guy tells cops in public "thank you for your service"
guys i am currently using a mechnical KB and whenever i press the "down" arrow key the light in the top right goes OFF and ON so does anyone know how to fix it?
no idea mang
🍿
“spreading misinformation” but which misinformation
you guys just randomly ban people in the server for having different opinions
and what about it was misinformation
like a proof?
i mean, you know the best because i was chatting with you in the chat
so, getting banned for misinformation just like that is even more sus
“trust me bro”
thoctober can be unpleasant to chat with? How did you manage that
you avoid literally everything i’ve asked regarding the ban when going deeply
don’t know him, don’t care
if i’d actually care i’d ask for an appeal not scream over you
i care about this server, not about you.
you’re still part of the server
if you stop recommending realforce/hhkb/topre shit to every brokey i’ll stop
you’re just recommending people wrong stuff they don’t care about
where’s my right to argue with you stop
just don’t
idk, man if you think ws mondari’s are meme switches then tell me what’s comparably the cheapest one that’s decently lubed
man, but you could assume that about everything…
if they ask for linear switches… give em linears
they probably know linears or atleast want them
what if they want clacky keyboard
what if they want a midrange prelubed linear switch?
at the end it’s just preference
Tbf nobody ask these things except the clacky part
People ask for what switch to buy for a stupid onomatopoeia word
Like wtf is milky
Milk sounds like water
I want a creamy marble thock clack guys, should I get holy panda x's
yes
Lol I haven't been here in a bit and then keyboard drama 🍿 just did the raptor he/lekker stem mod for my wooting recently btw, feels amazing now. 😍
clacky, thocky, creamy, marbly, poppy,
milky / honey is more of a feeling
So i need a good mechanical keyboard at 25 euro budget
I saw the k617
But i dislike the no numpad(not the biggest problem), and i find it weird that the delete keys and stuff arent apart keys and was wondering how it would work
Whats the difference between greenshaft and red axis, which is better
Define what would meet your grade of "good" in this scenario. What is good for you may not be good for others. Are you able to tolerate cheap plastic feel? Lots of rattle and pingy noises? Do you need tactile feedback in the keyswitch? Do you care if the keyboard itself is loud? In probably most of our opinions, at that price point, you can probably buy anything and they'll all be relatively the same.
Checks as many boxes as possible to address all these issues eventually
I'm guessing improper contact when the key is actuated or damaged pads on either the membrane or pcb
Do keycap material matter when it comes to sound?
massively
keycaps overall
just dont shop for them with a desired sound in mind
cause thats either impossible or you have bought an unhealthy amount of caps already
Aight
@patent belfry my keyboard is now stored in the warehouse but it wont let me pay international fright?
sry
i did but everything is chinese and when i change it to english only like a couple words actually change to english
pro tip pay in taobao if they accept your card
superbuy's exchange rate is shit
same goes for every other taobao proxy last i checked
if I want a TKL hot swap base whats differences between buying a plastic and metal base is it just sound or flex
just want make a hot swap base with thick box jades
Both
right gotcha
would a metal base enhance the sound of clicky switches ?
When I think of a metal case I think of very nice weight and feel
Idk I spent my entire keyboard careeer shutting them up
Not trying to hear them more
current order status: stored in warehouse?
2024-01-14 16:12:06 Your ordered items have been inspected, and will be stored to the warehouse within 24 hours.
2024-01-14 17:08 Stored in Warehouse
wait
i did
bruh my phone shut down
On the home page everything is english but when i go to my orders everything is chinese
Expert bag or self made bag?
I did bro😭😭😭😭😭😭
Thats the thing
It only did half the app to english
I choose english
It still says chinese
I got new keycaps
White, Red and black pudding keycaps
Hoping to find some teal to replace the red
how many switches would i need for a tkl ?
ok thx
i just downloaded the app again in app store and chose english again on the setup and the app is still in chinese, i think its just broke for me
got 90 switches of kalih box jades for like 39
i think i want to get pbt keycaps with a base
have rgb with one colour
well
im looking at hot swap keyboard bases
i want to get one with rgb
Just replaced my pudding caps with these cool PBT dyesub mac style ones lol
Hell on earth
I fricking hate cherry reds
I'm personally don't like the feel or look of abs pudding caps either
PBT pudding caps aint that bad tho ngl
How much less useable a keyboard is going from 65% to 40%?
Not less usable
Just more complicated
You really gotta be a special kind of fella to use a 40%
I am special, yes.
i have a tip to make your keyboard sound better
||blast your ears with such loud sounds that they ring extremly loudly(idk why this made my keyboard sound better but yeah)||
life changing keyboard mod
real
I don’t feel well to argue rn
not sure if i want to get a plastic or metal base
guys, i have my first "customizable" keyboard, that i dont really want to customize, aside from remapping keys
so far it doesnt seem like i can remap "Fn" and "right option" button using usevia.app
is that normal?
is that an M65 though
Yes
Great mouse as long as you..
Step 1: Install icue
Step 2: Set the lightning and calibration to exactly how you want it and load it onto the on-board memory on the mouse
Step 3: delete icue
I'm never touching that rotten maggot infested rats nest of a so called """software"""" EVER AGAIN!
Ide rather jab my eyes with a dagger that's been sitting inside an isolated terrarium full of mutant super bacteria
Hahahahahaha yea. God
The funny part about this is this isn’t even a fraction of how I feel about proprietary software bullshit
Like hey, have dumb unicorn barf lighting till you get nauseous enough to use me
To be honest I have had 3 due to RMA in the switch issues they have. My wife was using it up until a week or two ago when the latest replacement started double and no clicking. She's now got a g305
g hub is no better
at least theres onboard memory manager. so you can set your mouse to onboard memory once using g hub, and then continue using omm for the rest
I don't use any software
I hate Ghub so much.
Any recommendations for software that will let me save lighting on board my Logitech keyboard?
Got the Logitech g512
anyone here know what MOA keycaps are?
I love the design but how does it do with large fingers like mine?
Profile type of keycaps, like cherry, oem, xda for example
they seem to be similiar to KOA profile.
yeah, they’re alright pretty much for any finger size (aslong you don’t have bigfoot sized finger tips)
There’s nothing particullary wrong with them. you can expect small defects from molding under the keycap but, nothing major.. Maybe a slight amount of fuzziness on the legends (if they have any legends).
It won’t take anything from overall feel of the keycap or sound
nice thanks!
also, is it possible to make tactile switches sound more creamy through keyboard mods? Or am I about to discover a new sound that no one has heard of through mods?
sorry for asking these weird questions
well, lubing them would make them more creamy, but, they would lose up thier tactility, especally if you lube the mechanical parts of the switch.
if you don’t want to lube then, adding PE foam mod, tape mod should generally make the board more creamy
also, just to be sure tactile or tactile clicky
asking because I got given akko lavender purples when I didn't know about custom keyboards. Now that I just got into it and building one, I want to make the sound creamy. (Cream as in light and soft sound that's not too loud)
just tactile k
switch is just part of the keyboard what makes it creamy, but, yeah it’s substantial part of it
lube the switches with a thin layer, add PE foam, add tape mode and that should make it more creamy and clacky
aight thanks mate!
also, be careful with PE foam when inserting in the switches, because as the metal pins penetrate the PE foam they may bend and when they’re bent and you insert more force than you should you can pop up the hotswap socket
and that requires soldering skills
ok noted
I didn't realise how deep this custom keyboard building rabbit hole can go lol. I just go into it and I feel like there's like endless possibilities and options.
all you need is just enough force to socket the switch. if it’s doesn’t go then just check for bent pins
average decent custom kb have became relatively cheap recently
nowadays you can get fully built aluminium case keyboard for $100-120 that doesn’t suck
or alu keyboard kit for $40-60
I've heard the m65 elite from a few years ago was pretty bad
Mine is an ultra, only issue ive had with it (a common one that can be fixed) is when you click the snipe button the curser lags and jitters a few seconds later when you move it around
Easily fixed by creating a new profile and deleting the stock default profile
My main issue with icue is that it kept crashing randomly all the time
Amazing mouse as long as you know how to fix its problems
my old m65 still doubleclicks
not like corsair is even worth it now anyways
never were imho
Are MOA keycaps suitable for gaming? I do light gaming on the side of my design job and I just wanna know if they are ok. (Sorry if I ask weird or odd questions, I'm just starting out)
keycaps don't really make a difference, it's all about personal preference
i game on mt3 sometimes and it's fine
Ah ok, thanks!
keycaps are literally just preference
if you want deeper sound, taller and thicker keycaps then.
if you don’t care then it doesn’t matter
koa/xda sets are cheap, you can get them off ali for $15-20
there are also other keycap profiles
whats funny is, yeah this would make sense from a….basic understanding of how sound works perspective. But
These tiny ODM pbt caps are deadass quieter and deeper than my SA keycaps that have the most overall material I’ve seen a keycap have.
There’s no guarantees with caps besides what the material is and what that feels like against your skin, and the look
This experience just proved to show the little I knew about how sound worked was a load of ass so
well, it also depends on the thickness of the keycap tbh, those marshmallow looking koa keycaps are thicker than your avg 1.5mm cherry keycap
yeah, there’s a whole science around that
sound is weird
try some low profile flat keycap profile and you’ll be surprised how differently it sounds
The science of keyboard sound feels like it’s not conducive to logic at times
Literally, my ODM caps
Wrong reply I meant to low flat key cap profile
The weird thing is, they’re not low enough to sit below the top housing like cherry profile, and OEM profile tend to do
Yet they’re without a doubt more prolific on that lower end sound spectrum
It was a fun little surprise. It’s too bad that I still like my SA profile more than the sound
the row 5/6 is so tall
or well, R1 just to be correct
finally my aula f75 arrives tomorrow
after a delay
atleast i get a $1 coupon from ali for the order not arriving within 14 days
Your right. Dead right. Too right.
It’s actually, tiring to use this profile. I need to use a wrist rest with it for typing sessions
But
Now this is a huge but
It has a very, very almost, “optimized” type feel. Not in terms of effort expenditure but in, motion
It’s hard to put words to it
tbh I feel like taller profiles make a wristrest even worse
you probably just want floating hands while typing (like you really should anyways) and then higher angle
Really? You find “clawing” at your keyboard more comfy?
like legit 11 degrees or something
floating wrists
not touching my desk
That’s an entirely foreign concept to me unless I’m standing over my desk
I put my elbows on my armrests on my chair
and then just have my wrists hover above my desk
I do this when I’m going for max effort monkeytype wpm
using a wristrest while typing actually supports RSI, since you add pressure on your sinew canals
Kb Ergo is a as convoluted of a science as Kb sound is. Again my logic would, dictate that a less fatigued muscle is a less strained one
Joints got it
I diddnt take human bio and now it’s biting me
(obv best way to prevent RSI is doing proper stretches, but who does that)
the strings that sit in your body and connect muscles to joints
they sit in canals
and them rubbin on the sinew canals is what causes RSI
doing proper stretches helps with loosening up hte whole system
pressing down on them increases friction between them
imagine it like a thin tube with a string inside
One hell of a straightforward science for once
it's not super complicated
the whole vertical mouse thing essentially does the same thing, since you reduce the pressure on those canals
I’m assuming (my enemy by now) that, a deskmat, and following that, a cushioned wrist wrest could at least delay the harm done here
Weight absorption is less pressure no?
a bit maybe
ideally you just don't want your wrists to touch a surface with any higher amount of pressure when moving your fingers a whole lot
I love this sa profile for typing but I also don’t love the idea of debilitating myself for it
especially if you already overextend your wrists
what
How do I say, tucked in split form to them
no I mean upwards
I’m on the wrong axis
something like this (not even sure what the proper term is) will barely do anything
Thanks for your input my friend. Im, def gonna consider this factor, but ergo seems like it’s own sector to this hobby
yea somewhat with splits
no I mean like with split keyboards
Nature etc
Alice
that's the layout there
yes I know it is an alice
but I'm not sure what you actually call the angle that you get there
something like tenting or typing angle
oh like the rotation?
yea
unibody split angle ig
like this angle
wher my function keys
it's numpad zero. a lot of keysets don't have an extra "b" so many people put a different key there.
Would value a second opinion here before I dedicate the next couple give or take hours of my life.
Silent linear.
Is there a brush “workflow method” to minimize the variance in amount of lube applied to the springs?
Dump it in a bag
Saw in a video the guy use a silicone oil when bagging springs. Some 205g0 just fine too?
I got various lubes just say the word
use oil for springs
Great, easy
for the stem you only need to lube some parts
not the entirety
I figured I wasn’t dunking it in the 205
The red is supposed indicate “no no” zones
What I could use detail on is this, spring guide
anybody got suggestion for a creamy and quiet switch?
1.6mm stabs or 1.2mm???
