#Keybored #Keyboardshowdown2 I Turned a $40 Keyboard Into a BAKENEKO
Yup... You read that right. I turned a $40 budget Keyboard into a Bakeneko. Why? Because I was challenged to a Keyboard modding contest with a limited budget... luckily the "Keyboredneko" followed through for the WIN!
Collab with: @SwitchandClickOfficial @HipyoTech @AndyVN...
Barebones*
Let me check that out
He also filled the case with pennies and did a janky gasket mount mod
Its pretty sick
some points of the video are really boring and scietific tho
I almost fell asleep to it š“
Isnāt weights more of a āfeelā thing rather than sound signature thing?
Harder to slide around
I would dissagree
Iām asking as an amateur here
one of the main properties of determining acoustic profile is weight and density
Iām sure I have plenty of small flat heavy things, Iāll factor that when I foam up
I gotta get a barebones that lets you disassemble from 4 corner screws
Not even really for acustics, I just don't want the rgb to shine through the case
I'm gonna get the transparent blue one
the sound is a bonus tho
Those centered middle post things are a nightmare
Bro your keyboard is gonna be more expensive than mine
I honestly have a $200 budget for the barebones rn
Ibe bought several highish end keebs but I keep returning them becoase I get buyers remorse
Thatās how I feel about the gmmk2.
I got a gmmk 2 last week from best buy
I returned it
its not great for the money
my rk61 with milky yellows sounds and feels better than it
granted its a heavily modded rk61
The switches are what Iām looking for tho. Silent linears. Decent feel
Just want it quieter
Switches are relatively cheap as far as the build goes. That something you recommend for a dead silent setup?

š“
oh theres also hhkb topre keyboards but they are very expensive
they sounds swishy
think of like a membrane board but more whispy
I donāt care too much for sound signature as long as pings, twangs, reverb is kept to a bare minimum
That sounds impossible. A mechanical keyboard bottom outā¦.
Must be some stiff springs
Lubed with 205g0
My first topre board, it is actually insane. Could type on this for hours!!!!!! I am glad I got a silent keyboard that is really good
perfect example
Okay, finally figured out some audio-related issues that were going on. Happy with how this one turned out! Big thank you to Diego (Lightning Keyboards) for modding this for me. Super hyped to have a Topre board now.

real perfect example
(For real this time)
(I dug through my search history)
np :)
If I had to describe it, sounds āchalkyā
I agree
Holy shit
It sounds so goddam good
In your opinion, does masking tape behind a pcb not insulate the sound and actually feel louder?
For my knowledge its mostly to pretect the pcb from whatever is behind it
Like if you decide to put coins or sand or some other weird shit
Got my nephew a new keyboard. I think I won best tech gifts. Other than the PS5 the family is getting him for for Xmas
I have the same one
Ballin out on the child sheeesh
And very glad itās not a Razer, Steelseries etc
Right? I spent so much for a 10 year old techie
I got it from the site because their sale started before best buys
Only reason I got an GMMK2, only QMK capable thing ya had
Lol he runs the best buy?
He represented himself as the Best Buy guy
Glorious is the only custom keeb shit at best buy
other than that its just shitty gaming brands
I like the cables
I was shocked when they started carrying them TBH
It earned my business, prefer to shop local as much as possible
FYI my nephew has been shit talking on Roblox since he was 3 and telling his mom what to write back at the people talking shit to him. Now he just shit talks back faster than I can.
Honestly not the worst way to raise a touch typist
He hit like 81 wpm while sitting in a bad angle and his baby brother bothering him.
Kids these days. Damn
Itās cool what YouTube has done, even if itās cringe, 12 year olds know what a gpu does
He discovered Linus and learned a lot from him. He learned to use Google translate to talk to Spanish speakers in Roblox. The fact they can find how to videos and learn or figure out how to use their resources is amazing
Learning to / how to search for solutions online is something my parents are incapable of doing and theyāre successful.
Hell with computers knowing what to query is almost enough to be a full time in house IT guy
I took him to LTX 2023. We got in the video for the making a PC booth. Little dude is gonna go places. He asks all the right questions. He wants to learn. I got so lucky having a great nephew like him
Dude loves running a windows 98 build for the sounds
sorry i just like bragging about the little guy
awww
no
it is to make it sound different
that said, you should put cement in your keyboard
wet or dry?
Wet of course

Two layer keys, a full sized shift, full options panel
Ight this is the one.
Iām scamming myself buying the barebones arnt I
Welp thatās all she wrote.
Hope pairs real nicely with these
Shouldāve just bought a realforce
You don't get the cool mac g3 lookin font tho
or one of these mfrs
?
Where tf were you 20 minutes ago
Damn thatās hot
How have I never heard of these
Because most keyboard āenthusiastsā seem to think cherry Mx and derivatives are the only switches that exist
Part of me wants to cancel my orderā¦..
But another part of me thinks that two layer keys is too good to pass up.
Itās the exact sound signature Iām going for too. Itās aā¦well. Hm. It sounds a lot like an IBM model F but damper
Quieter
I just wish this name came across before I paid
its right here though?
Yeah you right.
Damnā¦.I think I ended up glancing at it as in that moment I was just looking for a barebone
yes but it's a gasket build isn't it?
so that eliminates a lot of vibrations
I wonāt claim that I know jack shit about keyboard modding but what I do know is metal is an excellent carrier of sound
Yes
but a gasket metal keyboard dampens the vibrations
that's why it's so good, because it's all metal build but the plate sits on silicone gaskets
or O rings or whatever
What can I do if my keyboard keeps pressing buttons that arenāt the ones being pressed, and going to google via a button randomly, Iāve tried resetting but nothing
Even tried changing the language but nothing
If i click āOā it puts āopā instead and U for google shortcut
maybe a short
How can I change the short?
It also flickers with lighting when I didnāt change anything
what board is it ?
is the keychron k8 pro good for competitive gaming?
i heard the latency is pretty high compared to other ''gaming'' keyboards
i wouldn't worry about that
sure the switches aren't the "fastest"
but you could swap them if you really needed to
true
but if you are gaming at the level where keyboard latency matters you'll have sponsors who give you a keyboard lol
it got hot swap
ok thx
i already ordered it anyways but i just wanted to know
So who buys a 1000$usd set of 109 keys witches
Lol I saw a set of 109 key switches for 1279usd
AK 873 + Akko OEM pbt caps
- akko gateron pinks
real scratchy as hell but it's the only linear I have
Trying to decide which of these two setups to run.
A) Glorious Model D Wireless Mouse and Glorious GMMK2 Keyboard.
B) Razer Viper 8KHz Mouse and Razer Huntsman V2 Keyboard.
I already own both setups. Just not sure which to use as a main.
Can anyone describe to me what these are based off of / similar to https://mechanicalkeyboards.com/shop/index.php?l=product_detail&p=9199
Gmmk by nature of software alone
The huntsman has a very janky ass switch that wobbles too
Another pro is that you also have the option to not use any software at all
You can flash QMK.VIA firmware onto it and configure it entirely thru a browser
Or if you wanna get really advanced. Get crazy with your json file
i wish i was making up finding a set of 109 switches for 1279$ usd
who in their right mind would pay that for switches
Basic supply demand. Same concept as supreme hoodies
Jordanās
Anime figures
Motherfing baseball cards
Keyboard no different.
Goodwill hoodie keep you warm like a Lenovo membrane packaged with a computer
so im looking for a new keyboard and not sure wich one is the best all around. Came across the apex pro tkl, razer blackwidow v4 75% and the logitech g pro x tkl. any tips or difference suggestions?
Razor v3
gilette?
Mach 3?
i have the razer Deathstalker v2 pro tkl and it is fuking amazing
what are some good 60% or TKL white keyboards with "creamy" switches for around 100-150 eur ?
for what use?
check out Akko or Nuphy
or Iquinix
wait actually its probably better if i just get new switches and a white keycap set
do u recommend any switches
topre
Mostly gaming and just typing/school related
would you prefer that over the blackwidow v4 75%?
The widow has very slightly better build quality over all but abs keys are much worse. I prefer the deathstalker because it is wireless and isnāt that clicky
The keycaps of the widow I think also feel kinda inconsistent
Hope that helped!!
Dont buy those stupid gaming brands
yes thanks alot š
then what is your suggestion?
What is your budget ?
around 200/300 if custom it can be a bit more
damn
If you want a TKL thats nicely built check out a wk870
a more expensive variant Monsgeek M3
would you say a custom keyboard is that much better?
Well
There is the experience of building it
Then you get to chose everything you want yourself
and yes the build quality is amazing most of the time
problem is i have no idea what is good and what is not
Well you should define what sound you want
and how you want it to look
also if you want it made from acrylic or plastic or metal
Id say if you dont want to spend time looking at milions of people“s different ideas, go with a Mode keyboard
If you want something more oriented for the masses a Monsgeek si great
thats like a keyboard builder?
Mode is a keyboard company
note that better to them is "better sound" mostly
ahhh okay i see
but performance wise it doesnt change that much?
its not noticable
some keys may be called Speed or even the new Hall effect which are ultra fast but its too early to tell
99% of switches are identical in gaming performance in my opinion
so is there a difference between those new apex pro switches and normal mechanical ? or is it all just to sell the keyboard
Eh
Yeah but if you are not a
super mega pro gamer you will not notice it š
if you want advice on specifics dm me
so we dont bomb this channel
will do
lot if it is marketing bullshit
wk870 is really nice
I have it and a friend of mine has it ... he plays osu on it and don't have any problem with it ...
Hmm how bad could set of aliexprees silent black prelubed key switches be the list at $2
75 for 110 switches
Super excited
Random question Iāve never had screw in stabilizers before I take it you donāt Band-Aid mod these
I got this budget 60% mechanical keyboard from amazon for $30. It comes with a ucb-C cable. You can choose out of brown, blue or red switches. I chose brown switches cause they sound good in my opinion. The only thing thatās a minus point with the keyboard is that it only has one LED color which is blue.
Itās the dierya DK61se.
It looks good tho ngl
does anybody know tactile switchs that have a big bump and are cheaper
best ive found are JWK T1 Blacks
Topre 55g
you can. I use foam padding stickers on mine
Same method with pushing the clip and lifting up? Or under the whole bar itself

Nvm this answers it all
Just trying to keep things quiet and stab keys need all the loving
Just get tx stabs
Nah the keychron stabs should already be decent
Iām excited for my new keyboard to come in tomorrow
I'm not sure they know what pcb is
whats the difference between tactile and linear switches?
I see this on a keyboard im hoping to get... not sure which one is better... by the looks of it it looks almost the same...
tactile has a tactile bump in the travel
linear is smooth all the way
where can i buy or build a keyboard under ~$150 that'll sound nice and "thocky" but still be good for gaming
i'm down to get some switches w a low actuation for the gaming side of it but try to keep the deep sound

eesh. they don't even got a white
let me rephrase. i'm trying to find specifically a 65% maybe a little bigger of a board that's generally beige and white
i'm gonna add some green accents for keycaps but i can do that myself
will probably go with the 2048 beige set
what are the contents of the board from this link? would i just need switches and keycaps? looks like it's got everything except for that
The one I linked you is a frosted acrylic, so like white if you also turn the LEDs white too.
That page shows you the contents. You select the parts to the board you want and thern you supply your own switches, stabilizers and caps
got it. and what's the difference between these two?
google isn't being helpful
one is just wired and one is wire + bt/2.4ghz I think
flex cuts are these slices in the pcb that give it a lot of flex but a lot of people don't seem to like them so they are non-flex cut boards to stiffen up the typing feel a bit
gotcha, makes sense. thank you !
Neo70 solid
i rant on glorious keyboards discord about lost shippents and slow lead times on orders on amazon and only a random non staff member speaks up to support the company that has provided the worst ordering experance ive seen
they earned me never considering their products ever again or me recomending their products
im being nice and not just reviewing the keyboard now
Na but the specs are not bad at all
Gasket mount or gummy o ring mount, multiple plate options, separate nav cluster pcb, designed with disassembly in mind, alu case, and this is subjective but imo nice weight and colour options too
yea it doesn't sound bad it is a little loud after looking at some sound tests but i need to research more into what makes a keyboard a little quieter and deeper instead of "clicky"
i'm sure i could j stuff the case though?
foam or something or the sort
i read that switches are only really a part of the sound but not what makes up for all of it
i pray that glorious makes a perfect keyboard barebones
otherwise they wont crack 2 star review
my nightmare of a ordering experance is worth -3stars
slow lead time on products
5 days and still not shipped out

particular listing might be bad but i've heard the brand is a good budget brand
i have a odd question
i was blocked from paypal community due to my username wich i use everywere
they want me to change it but i cant access the site to change it
how do i fix this issue
your username is banned change it!
lol
sometimes stuff makes no sense
any one know a good full sized keyboard thats not too loud for late night gaming and typing but still mechanical and a budget of 75 to 90
if i could get it on amazon that would be great
anything other than a glorious keyboard!
my experance TRYING to buy a glorious keyboard on amazon has been frustrating
Then buy a keychron
i got money in a glorious wich i cant seem to recive
they are in no hurry to ship out keyboards
nor to replace lost shipments
they wont get a good review
no chance of that
is that a modded keychron v2?
Red is Q2, blue is Q1
Why modded ?
Oh yeah you could have taken the photo without the LEDs, I see nothing
Mines were barebone and iso not Ansi
So no caps nor switches stock
ah yeah makes sense i got mine pre-made
my apologies i hope you are not blind
what are some good 100% keyboards?
wonder how glorious will respond to me saying " ok im done
one sec copy paste didnt work
if by thursday of my second wasted vacation week i dont have to keyboard i ordered im returning the keycaps and key switches i ordered with this keyboard
not only will i burn ties with glorious i am done period!
congrats on the customer experance that might turn a customer off customizable keyboards in general!
i meen when a customer is at this point you as the keyboard manufacturer failed at your one job
NCR80-R3 on the way
I haven't used it but when I asked this I was reccomended the keychron Q6
Though from what I can gather you should consider an 80% with a separate numpad.
No one cares!
Pretty much everyone knows glorious is ass
Itās on you for not doing your research beforehand
Better than the wooting 60 he? Lets find out.
Buy a 75%
why are you so agressive
what is this useless advice
akko 3098b plus from akko is a nice budget option
Because it's a good one
Realforce
I would like to buy a family 7 seater SUV, yeah sure here is a small hot hatch
thats how stupid your advice sounded
I would love for my friends to have nice small boards but they all work with numbers and thus they need a numpad, stop suggesting something people don“t ask for if they have needs you“re not aware of
I work with numbers too (programmer and math background) and having a 100% is a loss of ergonomics for two reasons
First it f'up the ergonomics of the mouse, you have to put it further to the right (and you'll hit more often the keeb too) which then means your arm is not in the right position, OR the keyboard will be too much to the left which will be also not good ergo-wise
Second, having to go and reach for the numbers is not ergo, it's way too far away and it is a loss of time, it's painfully slower
It's just a question of habits, when you get used to it you never miss it honestly
But I agree the way I phrased all of this was deeply dumb indeed
Also I know for a fact people will give good advices for a 100% keyboard, so one guy saying to look at 75% isn't that bad, and maybe he didn't look at them or smth, but yeah once again I could have phrased it differently
A well structured argument, I understand your viewpoint thank you
Honestly I found the Akko 3098B Plus a great budget choice for people wanting hotswap rgb with numpad
but yeah a 75% is sweet
I don't know about it honestly
its a tray mounted 90usd hotswap
sounds decent
this is my keyboards lmao
Bro really displays the most boring keyboards Iāve ever seen
I also have the Q1, Q2 a fully custom diy aluminium full size southpaz, a corne and a 65% choc spaced choc low profile
But now I don't want rectangles anymore
Still I like your wall of keyboards, I need something like that
And I like the red one
(I like colorful stuff lmao as you may have seen in the above screenshot)
hehehehe got my first mech keeb
keychron v1
all stock tho
I'm getting pulled into this rabbit hole too quickly
my wallet cant keep up
So true
Hey guys does this resellers website look sus to you guys? They seem to be brand new but are they a scam or are they legit ?
keebsmod was the websites name
still probably better than a redragon or glorious

Yes just buy a realforce
I want to make another dactyl
I miss mine
where could i buy a coiled cable that is not overpriced af? (eu)
i was thinking about this: https://www.amazon.de/-/en/thermoplastic-polyurethane-Mechanical-Removable-Connector/dp/B0C8M88RB2/ref=sr_1_1?crid=1DWTM55TBTL1F
but with the shipping it still seems a bit expensive
Rate my keyboard
Board: Idobao id87 v2
switches: c3 equalz tangerines v2 (self lubed + filmed)
keycaps: two sets of aliexpress keycaps combined.
Stabs: durock v2 plate mounted
Mods: tape mod (3 layers), bubblewrap inside, holee mod in everything but space, self made āpaper modā (paper in the middle of stab keys)
That looks pretty cool. I like the caps to the left that you most commonly use for gaming, being a different colour.
hi guys - i am new to custom keyboard and need recommendation. i am looking for a 75% wireless keyboard with knob and 4 nav keys.
initially i am looking at monsgeek m1w however, still looking if there are better boards. Since this board doesn't support via/qmk
keychron q1 pro could be good- but the 3 nav keys is a dealbreaker for me.
eh
Akko?
I just got a vintage cherry 3700 to go with my NCR 80
yes
Im new to custom keyboards, i have had my gmmk compact for around 2 years now but im looking for something that stands out a bit more any ideas ?
size ? location ? budget ?
For size preferably 65% up to 80% , I live in the uk and budget no more than 150, thank you.
dm me
do you guys reccomend the MOD 007 v3 via
Just finished it up
Best switches that still got that T H O C C sound but are faster/lighter than my brown switches from my keychron k8 pro?
ohh I like the keycap set. Lol just got a blank set today cause I am a maniac
well I'm pretty good at touch typing so I can manage that...anyone else using my keyboard however yea GL.
Itās a really good way to get your punctuation down
Skill issue, TBH
lol yea at that point
and I don't type with all my fingers after some injury I had years ago though I can keep up enough.
Silent baby
ohh man this is great.
Got some Kailh silent apricot (silent yellow) and theyāre hush quiet and stillā¦resemble tactility
I hate loud kb too
Even if I diddnt respect my house mates
And maybe neighbors
we don't talk about one of my friends clicky blue keyboard last night in call
played lethal company you can hear his typing
worse when you have to listen to mobs nearby
When you hear someone over a mic use clickies you begin to realize just truly how cringe I was myself for liking them
oh yea what made it worse if I have the mimic mod added soo it's creppy AF
the reason why clicky switches are popular is because out of mainstream switches that gaming keyboards come with they are some of the only ones with decent tactile feedback
unlike the shitty joke of any variant of a brown switch
where it feels worse than typing on a membrane
have to go hunting for alternative quiet tactile switches since brown is the most popular of them
not even that loud unless you put your mic right on your keyboard and then type like a gorilla
is the keychron v4 pro good?
keychron ass
Is silicon oil, a viable alternative for thin lube, as dielectric is to thicker lube?
ChatGPT seems to think so
dont be poor and just buy some 105
You see keyboard lube, Isnāt anything different than typical lubricants you can find it every store. Theyāre sold at a factor thatās Accurate in a specific context and massively marked up for it
Youāre willingly paying more to think less
and you see keyboard lube is just rebranded industrial lubricant
most of it is not "typical lubricants you can find it every store"
actually its not even rebranded
its just rebottled and resold
Itās the petroleum lubricants you gotta look out, for they can be penetrative, degrade plastics, hence, when you say, lube people think WD-40
and?
Itās nice that they created a standardized consistency labeling, but waiting online for something to ship at this time of year? Sheesh
ok?
I might just get some super lube,PTFE oil, and call it a day, even comes in a syringe bottle
Thanks for the help
I don't really get the logic behind buying a potentially subpar product (the type of which is a pain to remove once applied) over a well known and proven product that costs a bit more and requires just a few days of waiting
idiot logic is just something else huh
I think the demographic youāre talking about is someone who wants to put WD-40 and their switches. Yeah itās not me.
I think idiot logic is paying more for the same shit just so you donāt have to think about what youāre spending your money on just outcome.
if you can't fathom the idea of different companies having different formulas for their products, then just say so bud
This is the equivalent of buying onions at Whole Foods
keep huffing the copium buddy
just buy keyboard lube bro
ive tried putting ptfe lube in can and its not good š
first of all the smell is soo much stronger and second the viscosity, buy what everyone agrees on and dont experiment with chatgpt's flawed and lazy logic

its like saying you want to use a tarp to protect yourself from the rain , yes its usable but people wear jackets because they agreed its a better solution
hello. i got a little problem with my Qpad mk95 pro. i got it used and the website seems to be down. my question is: is there a software for that keyboard and does some got it on hand maybe? i cant find it anywhere.. if it even exists!?
Depends on the case as well also the mods you apply
no mods currently, maybe ill add a tape mod.
i want to switch out my brown switches from my keychron k8 pro
these coffee chip ice cream switches form CK, are pretty great, granted lubed/Spring swapped
but are very brown
When I got my keyboard the only option was cherry red
yesterday I visited a pc store with an impossibly silent keyboard.
I now crave silent switches
any reccomendation? (ping pls)

realforce
i am just looking for cheap keyboard under like 60$ or something
Logitech G G413 Carbon
is it a good keyboard?
PANTEON T10 PRO RS OUTEMU
A4Tech Bloody B760
Red Square Keyrox TKL Equinox
ones i found locally in my price range and with good reviews
just got an monsgeek board in the mail. would you recommend using a couple layers of painters / masking tape or the big sheet of tape it comes with for the tape mod?
so the keys on my keyboard are kinda wobbly sound
the space bar
and the shift kyes
I wanna hear those rubber domes shine
there is tapemod included in the board
there is a big plastic/paper thing included in the box thats the tape mod
Linear switches
But the biggest noisemaker isnāt the switch at some point
Itās the keycaps clanging when you press
I have rlly nice silent tactile switches but it doesnāt sound silent at all when I press down bc of the keycaps
12 column 4 row colstag/ortho recommends?
I already have linear swithces.
Cherry red.
I'm loking for silent switches, the ones with the tiny soft pads that make it so that there is no plastic-on-plastic "clacks"
I know they exist, I just don't know which ones I should get
lichicx lucy
O
these seem interesting...
can someone help
evga z15
Hi all, I was wondering if anyone can help me with deciding what TKL to buy. I have been looking at the keychron V3 as my mum has one lol, and I have heard quite good things. And Iāve also been looking at the Epomaker Shadow X as I like its look and the screen is just coolHowever, I was wondering if there are any better ones that I should be looking out for.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
finaly got my IBM model F working. was some grounding issues. so had to reflow som solder to make it have better grounding with the backplate.
i paid 150 doolar with a sears converter as well so cant complain to mutch. and its a norwigan layout witch is not that easy to get aparently
yeah thatās what i meant by āthe big sheet of tape it comes withā
all good i got it sorted tho š¤š½
Realforce
@boreal rivet since you answered to my question, can i ask you another thing?
Corsair K95 RGB Platinum XT or Fujitsu REALFORCE R2 PFU Limited Edition (the one you mentioned)
because the realforce keyboard is way too expensive for my budget, the corsair is about 50$ cheaper in my region
they all have cherry blue switches
i think
Realforce uses topre switches
never heard of topre switches
Iād buy the realforce 10 times out of 10
question is.. is it worth 400$?
No buy one used lmao
i already bought 2 keyboards
dont wanna keep wasting them, i need to buy one that will be worth it
ill see if i can buy realforce
or else, too bad
where i live it doesn't exist
I've been looking for 96% keyboard and I need suggestions, which would be better rk96 or keychron v4 or something else
Fc980c
halo96 or akko 3098b
Hi all, I was wondering if anyone can help me with deciding what TKL to buy. I have been looking at the keychron V3 as my mum has one lol, and I have heard quite good things. And Iāve also been looking at the Epomaker Shadow X as I like its look and the screen is just cool, I've also checked out realforce and they just don't sound good and I don't care all too much about gaming performance as I'm trash anyways lol. However, I was wondering if there are any better ones that I should be looking out for.
So far I'm definitely leaning towards the V3 From keychron.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
realforce
bumping for the lols
Hi
I'm looking for a TKL/75% White & Black keyboard, Silent and up to 150$
thanks for the helpers
Why realforce? I honestly don't see anything new and special about them
because it uses switches better than any mx tactile
and it lasts forever
The thing with hotswap is I don't care how long the switches last as long as it lasts for a decent amount of time. Plus I atleast want the keyboard to sound good and thocky when I get it which I didn't really hear in the typing test I listened of one of their keebs (Can't remember which one)
when i say it lasts
i mean the entire thing does
also
topre is literally the genesis of "thock"
Do you have one if so would you mind just sending a recording of sound test...
what are some great keyboards out there for under 50 euro? (prefferably full sized, with rgb)
Does real force have any keyboard with knobs? Or no?
Doesn't exist
Find something used
I spent money >> and i love it lol
I really like the polaris switches
It's also a lot bigger than I imagined it
ohh what board is this?
Field 75

Heyy, what are some great mechanical keyboard that are silent?
What keyboard feels the best for gaming, it canāt be loud or clicky switches?
I know an good 60% keyboard. Itās the DK61E itās on Amazon for less than ā¬50
I built my first custom keyboard a couple days ago
Itās very quiet except the spacebar because I didnāt mod the stabilizers and I donāt feel like going back into it right now
I also bought keycaps that donāt work well with the lighting so Iāll have to replace those soon
first good post in months
Help me kb chat
The twang on release, whack too loud
Tell me how to dampen this
Itās already stuffed full of, stuff

is that a gasket or tray mount?
what do you dislike about it?
its just how the keycaps soundš
whacking sound on a hollow spacebar
I love everything about it, but the spacebar makes a way louder smack on the release than the initial press
yeah cuz its hollow
I put kailh silent yellow in here to keep it down, now thatās the most obnoxiously loud thing
you need to remove the hollowness
thanks :)
dampen the vibration on the return
Is this not enough removed hollowness
Do I need to put caulk in it
Itās hard to tell but thereās even 5 orings in there š
It is still quieter than my mouse though, which is a huge stride but Iām trying to min max here
damn
ok
i had a similiar issue on one of my boards
turned out to be a structural thing that caused the part of the plastic around the spacebar to produce some vibrations
could someone give me a brief synapsis of the types of mods I should research for my NCR80 R3. New to the idea of modding a keyboard.
You can buy silent switches for the mouse
What are the switches?
they're kailh "silent apricots" // silent tactile switches
eh, I just have binds for mouse 1
Tactile and relatively heavy weighted => strong return force => the sound you hear
Maybe try a light linear one ?
its the stabilizers, ive tried both gateron gpro red linear and silent red linears.
just not sure what to do about that
first time having screw in stabs so...
I dont think I can just slip bandaids under em
might be work doing this
It's clacking on the way up because of the stabilizers. You can maybe bandaid mod the stabs as well, how are your stabs built?
Got a cherry G80 3700 today and threw a new set of caps on it
ps2 supremacy
buy realforce
is apex pro tkl 2023 good?
price?
real force orthoo
budget custom keyboard - barebones/assembled suggestion? $80-150
i want it to be clack/creamy + medium thock
75%
doesnāt have to be aluminium case, ideally plastic because that produces more creamy sounds, i donāt want it to sound hollow. thanks.
i was considering something like infi 75 or rainy 75. but, rainy 75 is out of stock everywhere.
expensive solution, but iād suggest replacing them with tx stabilizers. all they need is bit of lube. they tick little stock but, all you need is to straighten the wire a bit.
Yessir
Exactly the plan here
For now, I just stuffed the posts, which is working
Kek Keychron stabs should work just fine huh
also, check your pcb thickness if itās not 1.2mm
1.6mm stab on 1.2mm pcb may cause some issues
incomprable. tx stabs will sound better stock (with straightened up wire) than keychron would with holee mod + bandaid mod + lubed + clip out
also, stabilizers are reusable.
$20 for those stabs is very worth it if you value your time and want the best/ second best
anyone think that keyboards are kinda meh right now?
Oh wait arenāt you that dude with zero reading comprehension
There's not much anything that makes you go wow
they're starting to look like a clone of eachother
Uh huh
No
tbh, best time to hop into custom kb hobby rn
prices gone down
tho, i missed the black friday sales
and cb monday
sadly
had to do some stuff
alot of barebone kits are insanely cheap and good.
$50 bk + $20 pack of switches + $30 pbt keycaps will set you a budget mega thocc
I still hate group buys
I think it's insanely stupid
I also think switch wise it has been pretty stale
outside of long stems and etc
those were fun
Because mx has been optimised to the point where any interesting innovation is too much of a risk
I think group buys are alright for smaller designers like back when the hobby wasnāt so commercialised but big studios still running with group buys in this day and age is stupid as shit
just donāt buy group buys then
you can live without them
personally, iāve never used them i think not even once
what made you think I'm participating in on e
it's essentially a kickstarter with extra steps
and even if you do get them you're much better off selling them off
also scalpers on them are fucking insane
ktt kang white v2
it's the best value linear
even if you don't like the weight 60G springs are readily available
ktt mints/cabbages/sea salt are also good
i like the sea salts
from the 3
the mondariās come well lubed
some minor inconsistencies and occasionally a switch has weird spring ping noise but, otherwise ok
still probs best prelubed switches
if a switch needs lubing to be halfway decent it's objectively shit
death of holy pandas
i donāt like anything thatās below 50g
45g too light
ideally 50-55āish
I type and work with it so I need it to be light
gaming maybe?
working with 45G above?
fuck no
when i use too light switches i accidently press some keys i donāt intend
I'm accurate enough
iām pretty much used to 50g+
how many grams do you prefer
45 ideally
try 70g switches and then youāll gen used to 55gās easily kek
why should I'
what are your second favorite switches
cherry brown, ktt kang whites, thick lubed gateron reds
mmmm, try gateron milky yellow x47ās
they are quite old by now and a bit outdated aswell. but, still pretty decent switch
they have like honey thick feeling tbh, cheap.
and sound very good
I wanna build a custom keyboard under 100 dollars so you guys think epomaker sea salt silent switches will work well in a GK61
I also love heavier switches, and these are my favourites.
-C3 tangerines v2 (lube them)
-durock black lotus, the most stable switch i have ever felt
Lubed gateron ink black v2
Try them and you wont be disappointed
thats the same as saying youve been building PCĀ“s for 20 years, keyboards have evolved to a point of it being accesuble to everyone so 8 years of experience isnĀ“t really of any advantage š
ah yes the same mx style switch with tiny little differences and same repetitive board form factor
Yes it is
but at least everyone can access it
its not some closed off club for nerds
still pissed off about youtubers pushing the same monotonous shit combinations
Most people want thock at a budget
no it's not even budget either
No one cares about tinkering with stabs or modding it
100$ isn't budget
stuff huffing that copium man
for a quality board 100usd is budget
yeah you can get a cheap ass board for 50 if you want
you can get a decent pre modded kit for like 30
XD
caps and switches probably 20-30 more
oh yeah a tester68
cheapest worthy gasket mount is a gmk67 I think
thats a barebones kit
GMK is npc as fuck
I'm not
because a hobby you liked is also liked by other people
it's just copy paste of each other at this point
just like how the market was flooded by 60%s for a while
YouĀ“re offended that people enjoy keyboards ? š
nah enjoy all they like but companies and boards who looks the same as every other board out there should be ousted
shit's boring
Akko has been really good recently
Just build your keyboards, enjoy them and stop caring what others like or buy š
being complacent is a sign of failed evolution
only by asking and thinking what other options there are is the only way you find unique things that are innovative
Its not being complacent
Keyboards arent essential to life
Its not something that has to be grinded or improved
they just type letters you know ? š
It can be but doesnt have to be
I mean, knobs are a welcome addition
Honestly you just donĀ“t have any real arguments š
don't huff that copium because you spend 200$ on a board
is it possible for you to answer with normal words ? normal answers ? this isnt reddit
you're just as bad as the people you mock for buying gaming boards
keyboards are such a basic concept so its obviously hard to innovate
huffing copium, are you twelve ?
If you want to get mad and ask for change dont behave like a child
These words taken from some forum dont improve your argument and you look like a weak internet troll
now you're accusing me of reading off a forum?
You think huffing copium is a word people that can change something use ?
““ ohh mom please dont be mad because I use a word I saw on the web““
Such childish phrases meaning nothing and crying about people wanting normal keyboards
real unique with my GMMK š¤ big up lads we're going custom
yeah youĀ“re just mad š
everytime an argument is presented you write something completely off topic
yeah your 8 years of keyboard experience are wasted at this point
lol
are both of you like mentally lacking or something?
I just said that the keyboard scene has been boring for quite a while
Are you mad because someone disproved your point of view ?
alot of things have remained the same
alot of companies have been doing the same shit copy and paste
people want what others have, learn something about trends in society and behavior of masses
i joined it 2013
I still have the original proper board that I have
I have an gigabyte osmium aivia which i still use for work
are you stupid?
I just said that's my first board
sure pal
Oh yess
you're that hurt by being called stupid
oh you have an OEM board you must not be into keyboards
like are you that dence?
dense*
I love how Im seing in real life something that my professor once explained to me
š
which one I have 3 that I cycle constantly
““ howdy hey““
Rk61 ktt kangwhite oem caps from another keyboard
oh yeah a rk61 thats enthusiast grade
ak873 with akko "pink" switches with xda blue cat idabao
ck61 with thick lubed gat reds and ktt kang white modifiers
I'm at work at the moment
So have you had any real
that's not ma...
keyboards ?
define real
any that are mor then 60usd
I donĀ“t know some full metal, gasket mount or something š
not owned but used
It is but its the trend now
though I like the feel I don't like the sound of full metal boards
Ok so how can you speak on being bored of keyboards
I prefer wooden cases
when you havent even owned or tested for a long time the higher end stuff ?
I mean even a tofu60 is something š
aren't kbd fans in the shit right now?
i dont know about now
Im just saying a tofu60 was the hype for a long time
and thus a lot of people have it or it was their entry into keyboards
it was a keyboard manufacturer that tried to pull a fast one by putting their manufacturing in china
I forgot whats their name now
yeah but its still a nice board š
nah nah it was proper enthusiast stuff
I have one, its not great but not terrible
even a cheap akko board outpeforms it š
I'm not really feeling the metal tbh
it has this hollow esc sound
even if you fill the void with foam or whatever
Well if its a tray mount yes
even gasket mounted
but a foamed up gasket metal board is awesome
š
I have a monsgeek m3
And there is no metal sound
I want to do a full custom oak case at some point
Also I feel keyboards are something I don“t want to cheap out on
I feel its more a work of art sometimes
And having a cheap plastic board isnt whats pumping me š
Whilst a nice anodized alu with a copper weight or something feels soo much more premium
don't they turn into fingerprint magnets after a while?
there was this 60% case I looked at a while back
I“ve grown out of 60%
friend bought a aluminum case? i can't remember the manufacturer
kprepublic ?
it has alu in its name
I liked it but the lack of arrow keys are kinda meh
yeah I want to write that
65% is kinda of gold right now
and the Neo65 is like the to deliver all the expensive features for cheap
found it
it was a group buy but the time passed rather quickly
i think it was called alumaze or something
I loved magicforce 68
?
I still have my magicforce 68
I have much more expensive metal boards on the wall but the akko is much better for everyday use
underrated as hell ngl
isnt that tkl ?
ak873
yeah I dont really like ajazz
currently what I'm using at home rn
ajazz had a bad reputation for being cheap
but this one is special
it's already pre modded, decent stabs (also lubed)
tray mount ?
but for what it is, it's not bad at all
i ordered one to see if its worth it
comes with coiled cable too
just all around a decent deal for what you get
there's also a pcb film and some foam for the space bar
this one was around 60
barebones?
doesn't have to be tbh
ive never had a tray mount with a good spacebar except the halo75 from Nuphy
I've had luck with heavy lubed gat reds and bluetack on the spacebar
moding the spacebar never worked for me
always ended up being a problem elsewhere
either the stab or the case build
I replaced the whole caps on the rk61
I want to replace or atleast lube the akko pink whatever mystery switch it is
ak 873 with akko caps
oof that cloud wrist rest
which one?
I dont like these wrist rest because it puts my hands up waaay too high
too high for comfortable typing
keyboards coming with ewaste š¦
how are you enjoying the field?
So far been using it daily, really love it!
Only complaint is no Dongle holder on it. However it has a USB Hub port instead that works when using wired mode.
im happy if you are
got my fiancee a keychron k4 and she LOVES It too - red switch
so she wont steal my halo XD
and thanks for your suggestions ^^
I was supposed to have two keyboards delivered today
but it turns out the courrier probably didnt have any space left in the car
so tomorrow hopefully
ah i see
the Neo65
yep
i gotta quick question i wanna get this barebones keyboard https://awekeys.com/products/touch65-triple-modes-barebones-kit-purple?variant=45488597664025 and i wanna add KAILH BLACK switches and im wondering if those switches will fit on the barebones keyboard

Is this a good budget keyboard
Its like 55
Also what color switches is more nice sounding
Options are red blue and brown
20 dollars of shipping ?!
Best mechanical wireless gaming keyboards?
Must have 2.4Hz
What are the options apart from the Lemokey L3?
okay nevermind, new option i found razer huntsman mini. is it good?
Between the asus azroth and razer black widow v4 75 what do you guys think is better?
I think realforce is better
Look what we found at work
Got that genuine cherry black. Diamond in the rough out here.
Nah I canāt even rip it off the superglued velcro
I donāt know much about OEM Cherry product besides their switches, but looking these up online indicates to me this is a massive step up from the oem dell / hp membranes that litter this place
is the STK61 hot swappable?
I know it's a little off-topic, but since there's no specific place for this: What wireless mouse would you guys recommend?
on a budget g305 or darmoshark m3
more expensive ones check out pulsar, lamzu and gpx2
The colors look great!
