they sound too generic
almost like mx red
too poppy and lack cream and thock
yeah, those are decent, i was up on ktt wine reds but, messed them with ktt roses
Done for the better š¤£
why must it be so hard to find a 5 pin hotswappable keyboard with 6 or more dedicated macro keys and a milled aluminum housing and a magnetic wrist rest and a nice custom paint job for the chasis idealy 6-8 layer autotive grade paint job
media controls would also be nice
lol am i being to picky
idk i just make my own tbh
i like the redragon brahma wich includes 6 extra switches and a switch puller and keycap puller but they dont claim its hotswappable
weird
yes why include extra switches and the puller if they are not hotswappable
i dont get making non hotswappable mechanical keyboards
it makes more sense
to make all you keyboards hotswappable and just leave warranty support for hot swapping out of lower end models
and not advertise the feature
for smaller boards, its done to get better case compatibility, more bottom row options, and such
but for a commercial product? no clue
it wouldnt be hard to start a keyboard brand if you had a supplier for the boards and housings
I think even the big brands like Razer are realizing this now. Their latest keyboards have hotswappable keycaps
lol took apart my Q12 to see if I can uhh look at the stabs. More painful then I thought so I'll wait till I am fully commited to open it fully heh
everything has to come off so that's fun
thatās unusually cheap
why just $20? arenāt those like $100 norm?
no way thats real
Lol
Likely 1 game stop in the country has 1
OK so would a gmk barebones 65% be a good buy for $30 paired with a set of outemu cream yellows for switches $8 for 104
Amazon sells those for super cheap
is evga x15 good
no clue
the rosewill blitz k50 is ok
i suspect all it realy lacks is hotswap switches
add some PE foam
thatās just general recommendation
it makes your keyboard sound better for $0.10
more creamy and thocky
Use your words
any budget suggestion for barebone expect for the gmk67
Anyone tried a 8bitdo keyboard
Gmk bare bones is $21 right now
Or a rose will blitz k50 which has blue or brown switches for $22-24
A
Aluminum housing on the rosewill
Anyone know a budget keyboard I can build/buy. Mainly Lf around $100 budget with a tenkeyless keyboard
gmk barebones on sale now
$21
i doubt you could get more for less

tf $21
hey, can anyone help me find a keyboard for 100$?, its for my friend, he doesn't want to build one himself
he wants an steelseries apex 5 rn
Lost me at GMMK. No matter how cheap it gets I'll never buy another GMMK.
the bare pcb itself is worth it
my keyboard has a stupid layout and i love the keycaps to bits but switches suck and i cant use a soldering iron
90 keys
a tkl keyb but with a numpad
also theres no rgb on it
need keyb reccomendations that wont break the bank
Define: budget
Yeah. I'm searching from the US, so I'm certain that there are offers here that there aren't there.
ah
That being said though, you'll probably prefer the 96% or 1800 layouts.
ah
They retain the numpad, but are smaller than a whole TK-style keyboard.
tbh i dont rlly use the numpad i just like it there
also gives more space for arrow keys
It's always nice to have for functionality.
mhm
Typing out a long string of numbers with the numeric line above is not viable, IMO.
a fan of this tbh

Bear in mind though.... this board uses optical switches.
Functionally? They operate the same as traditional switches.
How they work is different though.
ah
The stem breaks a beam of light and that triggers the keypress instead of the keypress pushing contacts together.
o
I personally like opticals because I like to fully depress my keys, but I can see why some people wouldn't like them.
Yes, but it isn't VIA or QMK compatible IIRC.
whats that
sry im not that much into the keyboard space lmao
ah is it like rgb control software im guessing
It can do that.
oh lmao
Never built a keyboard before but I wanna try it, is there anything wrong with this why is ig so cheap
Still not worth.
So what is worth it?
I bought one and the board died a few months later, but that's just a sample size of 1.
What would you recommend I do
At the end of the day, you're money is you're money
Personally though, I would sidestep the GMMK since that will always have some kind of ping issue because of the metal plate mounting.
I would say buy a functional keyboard that you like the style and switch-type for your preferred layout and start with that.
Hell, if your current keeb has hotswap, just buy some switches you like and pop those in.
I got the 65% version of this. Was a joy really. Really easy to flash QMK firmware onto it (which if you dont know, lets you config your keyboard without bloated software that always runs) its fun to pick your switches (got mine from akko) and keycaps (re-used some pbt from a steel series apex pro) and overall happy with it
but thats my anecdotal amatuer opinion on it
Iām honestly not sure if it is
I have the drop entr
Also Iām not even sure how to build a keyboard so Iām not exactly sure what all that means. Do you know if there is a white barebone?
65% meaning 65% of a full sized keyboard. It doesnāt have a numpad or f-row of keys rather you trigger them with a shift or ālayer buttonā
Donāt worry about ābuildā because itās way easier than you think. The switches have little prongs, and you just push the switches into the board itself, after that, you put key caps on top of those switches. See? Not so much effort. At the surface level anyway.
The advantage to doing this is you can pick how your keyboard feels. Which if you spend a lot of time using one? Thereās no going back to, like, membrane keyboards.
I donāt know about white, if there is, shouldnāt be too hard to find it
The glorious ones are out of stock
Any recommendations? Also I understand the whole idea 65% thing I think I just want a tkl
Me? No. Not that much experience in this field. Was just giving a run down on my experience with it
anyone know how the rapid trigger implementation is on this keyboard? thinking of buying this or the apex pro
Hey everyone, I've got a Hexgears X-1 with Kailh brown switches right now and it's a bit too loud for my wife who shares an office with me. Are there any switches that offer a clicky-ish feel while being quieter than browns?
Was thinking maybe a Keychron with Gateron Reds but I don't know enough about how the switches feel to know if I'd like them
So is the gmk tkl barebones good for$21
i saw this one on amazon is it a good one for $45
I've seen so many people say stay clear away from GloriousGaming. Horrible quality control and software. I was looking at it too until i read a lot of bad reviews.
Again, do you have recommendations? Iāve never done this before and Iām really clueless
I'm currently looking at Keychron. They're highly recommended and have a sale going on right now. They might be my next keyboard
I was thinking of them but they just donāt have too much variety
Are we talking about the custom keyboard bundle or the āprebuiltā keyboards
@cunning plume
They have prebuilt too and you have some options when ordering
Which one u thinking about
I canāt really find any nice white ones Iām not sure though
What are some okay tkl prebuilts for around 100 CAD?
I was looking at some keychron keyboards for my friend but wanted a second opinion on whatās good
so is it worth getting that 1tb kingdian sata ssd for 99cents?
99cents even if it's a cardboard SSD it's worth but that's not really the topic here
isnt a silent clicky key switch a oxymoron
i just found some switches that list as silent clicky switches
It should be labeled under ātactileā then.
Clicky in the keyboard world is synonymous with blue switches
looking at switches
silent is prefered

could have saved 100$
Nah I've read a lot of bad things about them that it put me off honestly.
yeah it's good entry keyboard
$20 is jump in and play with it
well that model is normaly $80
im stuck on finding some silent switches that wont break the bank
I currently have a steelseries but it's very limited in terms of customization and i cant replace a swithc with a broken rgb
not bad
id like a full size keyboard with macro keys and hotswappable switches
redragon k586 brahma pro comes with spare switches and key and switch pullers
but doesnt list hotswappable switches as a feature
od to include a varrity of extra switches and a puller on a keyboard that cant use them right
I have a TKL and I'm going a bit smaller this time to a 75%. Should take up less space.
i use a steelseries apex m300
have since it came out
would buy another if they still made them
im moving to mechanical out of a dead keyboard and a questionable backup
first the ctrl keys died then the rest of the keyboard
figure that was god saying time to get a new keyboard
yeah that's how they start if you dont have a swapable switch support
old membrane board
if i wasnt to lazy to find the adapter to use my old model m on a usb port id pull it out
keyboard came with a xt i got in june or july of 83

grey id have to look for
im used to a full size plus keyboard lol
I could never use a full size. I think my TKL is still a bit big lol
Hi, I'm looking at buying the Keychron V1 and would like to try get my switches from keychron to get free international shipping, the main options are kailh and gateron. I would like to get a linear switch with a good lifespan, looks & sounds nice but preferably on the quieter side, any suggestions?
Currently looking at the Gateron KS-3 Milky Pro Red Switch
Hello all, I'm trying to find the most silent keyboard possible, as I have a distaste of clicky noise. I'd love for it to have backlighting as well, but good gravy that makes the selection very small. Would I be able to achieve anything with making a keyboard of my own with the least noisy switches? Or is this always going to be loud af like all the custom keyboards I've seen on yt so far
I think you can get some pretty muted stuff
A friend of mine has something quite silent
My keebs too are silent, but I wouldn't recommend them lmao
Hmm yeah, it's been so tough finding anything decent
https://chosfox.com/products/outemu-silent-honey-peach-switch
these switches are probably the quietest switches on the market
just lube them
doesn't really matter what keyboard you put it in
ooo
i was afraid when i saw the pricing that itd be 100x 2.30 but i see its 10keys per
that scared the shit outta me hahah
lol
is there any recommended vendor for full keyboards? Im kinda fond of my logitech k710 with all the keys and doodahs on it
full as in 104 key (iirc)
keychron Q6
so id want to go for a barebone in that case right?
or would i go fully assembled so i get the keycaps included (not sure if i can rip out the switches and replace them without issues, first time looking at keyboards like this)
yes
and then you need to buy some keycaps and switches
i see i see, thats perfect
any recomendation for cheaper switches i know ill need 90 for the 85% board

is there a standard ish case format for 65%s?
this is actually a 68%-ish keyboard if that makes any sense instead of a 75%. I still haven't gotten an answer for the polling rate yet from XVX but it's pretty great for a daily driver and it's gasket mounted. I use it primarily when I go into the office, got this red one from AliExpress recently and changed the switches to box cj with new keycaps. š
This is also coming next week for me, it's insane for a 75% keyboard for the price. I've tracked the company that ships this out through my credit card charges and turns out this site has the same company name in Chinese as the US epomaker site from when I ordered the EK21 from the epomaker site. if you use the 5% coupon thing then you get this keyboard for 98 USD total. Will do some updates here to see if it's legit after I get it. Also gasket mounted BTW.
Where is a good place to look for aftermarket knobs.
Y'all know any wireless 100 percent membrane keyboard?(that maybe comes in pink)

really good price on the bare bone but switches are very very personal preference so you can only experiment on that one š
for now im just looking for a decent set of cheap switches
ill order smaller batches of switches later
lol i know nothing of mechanical switches
yeah it's a little hard at the start, I eventually settled on Gateron Box CJ ones but those are more expensive, there are too many switches these days lol. I just use a Wooting 60% for gaming on my gaming rig though, but $$$. Personally I like Box CJs as like a good hybrid switch for work typing and gaming otherwise.
idealy ill get a fullsize board or one with macro keys if i can find one
prolly a keychron V6 in that case, there is a blackfriday on those on Amazon and QMK/VIA support
VIA ones generally cost a bit more so
i doubt ill find a 100 pack of switches cheaper than 19.99
redreagonk586 brahma pro comes with spare switches and a key cap and a switch puller
can always update the switches later when there is more budget and use the default for now since the V6 is generally a good deal as a whole package
i know super clicky isnt what i want
Where can I get cheap stabilizers
look up like red switch keychron v6
do some calculation and that might be your best bet and spend less money in the long run
well keyboard switches and keycaps are only running me $40
this is like 66 bucks total for a full size with VIA compatibility https://www.amazon.com/Keychron-Mechanical-Backlight-Programmable-Swappable/dp/B0CGVDKMT7/ref=sr_1_5?crid=3GM9MPDDAAMYC&keywords=keychron%2Bv6&qid=1700862178&sprefix=keychron%2Bv%2Caps%2C196&sr=8-5&ufe=app_do%3Aamzn1.fos.18ed3cb5-28d5-4975-8bc7-93deae8f9840&th=1
and with screw in stabilizers
also south facing LEDs, which a lot of people prefer these days for the light show
what is a good 75 percent for around 100 pound???
Other than going through the reviews and seeing that for some odd reason the F1 and F2 are 3 pin switches only while the rest take 3 and 5, I think it's good lol, weird.
Barebone or prebuilt?
prebuilt
I saw keychron ones eppomaker and wormier
you wanting it for gaming or sound?
both? imma use it for writing and on my ps5
the TH80, yunzi yz75 and royal cludge m75 are pretty good
have used the th80 and my only complaint were my stabs werent the best and the feet slid around a lot but the gateron yellows i got with it were well factory lubed
Anyone know of any decent 60% keyboard deals? I want something with linear switches, no bumps or anything. I got this back when it was on sale for $20 but I've grown to dislike how loud/hollow it sounds. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08GG93C5J/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1
over the keychron v1?
id so say but thats just cus i dont like the switch options
do you care about having wireless?
I was looking at an rk61 actually, are the sky switches supposed to be quiet? https://www.amazon.com/RK-ROYAL-KLUDGE-Mechanical-Ultra-Compact/dp/B0832LSV8N/?th=1
I see the cases are plastic, I wonder if metal cases are quieter?
they are about the same as yellows, I usually top lube my switches though to make things quieter by default.
no metal ones are always louder and more ping
ah ok ty
you usually need a lot more padding and foam at the bottom or do certain mods to make metal ones quieter, people just like them for the premium feeling
also sorry I linked the plus on purpose
you get a lot more for 8 more bucks
What exactly? I was trying to find the difference just now
hmm can't find the difference between linear sykcyan and viridian
wireless 2.4ghz, bluetooth, extra USB ports off the USB connection, PBT keycaps, pre foamed
non plus is 0 foam, just to foam it aftermarket is like 20 bucks
ah okay nice, ty
unless you do it from like package foams
are these new switches? I can't find much about them. Not sure if I should get skycyan or viridian
2mm actuaion and I think 3.8 bottom out with 50g average force, somebody has a video on it too https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qQaw0tIUAgU

Most metals, specifically aluminum which is used in most high end keyboards have a wider range of sound, allowing for different designs to either be more high pitched, full, muted, etc. This is the main difference between plastic and metal boards. Of course the added benefits of stronger/more exotic coatings, heavier weight, and aesthetics play a big part too.
at that point we are looking at 300-500 dollars LOL
Alright, I can't find the difference between sky and viridian so I think I'll just try the sky's lol. I was gonna ask if I should get some lube but it sounds like they're pre lubed
I mean it doesnāt have to be 300-500 to be made of metal
I do like my sk71 though š
Thereās a $140 keyboard called the cycle 7 that is cheaper than most high end gaming keyboards, is made out of aluminum AND brass, has anodized and coated finishes, wireless, hotswap and soldered options, etc etc
Itās all about priorities. Gaming keyboard brands like Corsair, razor, etc could make these keyboards but they cater to gamers much more than enthusiasts
isn't there one that just came out recently that has like a lot of magnetic connections that's pretty well priced too? I forgot the name, that one looks dope
Magnetic connections? Idk lol
let me find that š also I personally just use a wooting for gaming lol
I know there was that mountain keyboard with all of the different modules and stuff

I really wanted to get the air 75 but it doesn't sell in the UK
it'd cost upwards of £200 with shipping fees thrown in
agreed
What is a good cheap set of keycraps

Im trying to turn my secondary keyboard into a soundboard, im looking at the system IDs for the keyboard and it has 6 system IDs, is this normal for a keyboard, and would anyone know if it matters for turning it into more of a sound board
apparently if i press more keys at once it changes the hardware id that is being used (im using hidmacros to see this)
Are cream linear switches quiet?
they get quieter and more creamy if you lube them with whichever way, different company also have different sound profiles, what company are you looking at?
factory lubed
should I get the th80 or v1 or sum else?
don't know enough about them, checked some reviews on there and it seems you'll have to lube them anyways since they come pretty light factory lubed.

pre lubed outemu whites are surprisingly decent lol
mate no offence but that looks awful

and sey of key caps
yeah I remember your posting from yesterday lol
so.... V1 has less switch options is kinda what it comes down to
you will have to do a bit of research on that
since it's very much personal preference
and TH80 generally has more features like wireless etc if you don't care about stuff like QMK/VIA
they are otherwise pretty similar in price, have to min max that for your needs
Am just going for the red ones
But idk why th80 looks better
But everyone says keychron for no reason at all
VIA is nice š
VIA?
Google VIA keyboard, check out some videos
mapping ur keys and stuff
ill be using it on macbook and my ps5 so wont really need to do that
Just saying why people say Keychron
so I should just go for the eppo?
I think you already made a decision š
v1?
The thing with keyboards, you go with your heart š
what about the v1max
I mean, that's just gateron switches instead of their own k pro and you can't discount those I don't think
You have to figure out your needs to pick either one so, I don't have input on that one š
anyone have recommendations for a 100% that's not too expensive?
This is a shot in the dark, but I was trying to find custom key caps with all the shortcuts for Blender 3D and didnāt want to buy the specialty keyboard that blender sells for like $150. wonder what the chances my $3 keycap set has of coming in a tray
I'm looking to get some keycaps that I am going to pair with a Keychron K8 Pro. I am looking for some keycaps that have a bit of contrast preferably purple or blue contrast, where should I be looking for these? Also what profile of keycaps should I be looking for? I am new to this so idk much about profiles, I currently have a Logitech K845 keyboard, not sure what profile it has.
I am a programmer, and I mainly use my keyboard for programming and writing. Don't game much if that matters.
#peripherals message ok actually got the keyboard, a really thick boy š
got a question, whats the difference between a north facing pcb and a south facing pcb?
apart from the obvious ofcource, why would you pick one over the other?
I think it's just a lot of keycaps are not see through due to them being thicker so you can't see the RGB as well if they are north facing, also if you look at the keyboard from a certain angle, if the north facing LED is really bright, it blinds you for a bit lol
some older PCBs also have like LEDs sticking out the PCB which is really annoying
and like certain rolls of key layouts don't fit well if you have cherry profile keycaps with north facing.
honestly not much of an issue with the newer stuff though
it just comes down to whether you're using cherry profile
doesn't make any other difference otherwise

im looking into either: upgrading my epomaker th80 or getting a new keyboard
i'd probably transfer over my switches and caps, and i like a creamy, loud-ish keyboard. i swear it's impossible to describe the sounds that these things make
im just starting into the custom/barebones keyboard world
thoughts on keychron c1 pro?
like how are the red pro switches, and how is the quality, etc.
whats wrong with it?
switches kinda inbetween mech and membrane?
ive never had experience with topre switches but i have an idea what they look like...?
its a rubberdome that uses capacitance to sense actuation
how does it feel
is it like membrane where the ruber moves enough and then snaps down?
by that i assume when it hits the pcb
ok
More rounded
like a mechanical switch
Uh huh
ok, so i really like keychron, any other keychron keyboards that are nice for gaming and typing? i dont program and i type a good amount for school
or ducky ig
whichever has your preferred layout, and ducky is overpriced for what
ok i just heard that ducky was good
is there anything that has like a major downside to the c series?
thank you much
np, that list also goes over the rest of their stuff too
also south facing rgb
thanks
also should i get rgb or no...
ik its not much of a difference
preference
but most good switches are non-rgb
mostly true, not entire ie nixies
south/north only really matters for cherry profile keycaps
so do they have a specific funciton or..
ah
ok thx
what are the knobs for? i literally know next to nothing about keyboards sorry for all the questions š
rotary knobs, i used one for volume
ok
it's just a novelty thing tbh, can also be used for other things like scrolling but i think thats wierd personally
yea it does, i bought one for my next board if they ever ship it
are the k pro switches any good
i have never used them, i actually got my k10 used and barebones lol. i would just watch a review or two and see what you think
ok
i like the barebones idea, and i know switches kind of?
its just barebones isnt much cheaper
yea, if i bought it new i would prolly get a full board for the value and upgrade as i went based on what i liked/disliked about the stock expiernce
ive never tried tactile
i have linear currently
and i like it, but i can see tactile as more comfortable typing
yep, for instance i got some ttc reds from a mystery switch thing that i am using rn, they are way better for gaming fs, but i can't stand typing on these
too light, i don't feel the press
i can barely feel the press on mine
gonna keep them on wasd tho prolly
yeah but when your typing wont you feel that wasd are different from the others
yea, some dude in a local server did a differnt switch on every key and said he broke his monkeytype record with it lmao
keep em guessing
this is a deal if you are interested in barebones
like a really good deal on switches
ok outside of keychron what do you think is the nicest thocky kb for under 100
ive seen that womier kb
you honestly just missed the first round of the bauer lite
yeah ive heard of that
cement
i thought ultimate thoc came from flex seal
no its cement
welp time to call readymix
ok v1 or c1
also why translucent
also different between the v1 max and teh v1
teh v1 sounds good
i wanted to get my brother a keycrom for christmas but idk which switches would be best ive already rulled out blue switches but now itss between red and brown can you help
idk the difference
nvm i figured it out
im considering a Keychron V1 for my first mechanical keyboard, a prebuilt because I need it right away and it's far more affordable in that category, costing around 53usd in my country.
Other options at that price point are only royal kludge or red dragons, so I think the 53usd imo is a bargain
Went to microcenter and tried their keyboards...the Razer Ortana v3 felt good in my hand (it felt like the keys were less abrasive and shorter? idk)
I'm a total keyboard noob, i dont care for the hobby of RGBs and customization, i just want something under $80 that's gonna not make agitate my fingers nor my ears. Any recs?
Or more specifically, is getting the Ortana v3 for $55 a mistake?
Get a keychron they are on sale rn
you said you liked the low profile switches yeah of the razer?
yes! i thought the shorter feeling keys felt very comfortable
Keychron design and produces custom and wireless Mechanical Keyboard for Mac, Windows, iPhone and Android.
they have some low profile ooptions
youll like the clicky switches since you wanted an ortana
between these whaat do u reccomend?
which are the blues iirc
just pick what looks the best to you
ok cool
You can buy them on amazon too btw
just use the website to find what you want
ornata is a rubberdome with click leaf
you won't get anything similar from gateron lowpros
oh fr?
damn i did a fast look and didnt check them well enough ig
The click leaf on ornata is obnoxiously loud. Without the nicely designed armsrest the keyboard is very mid.
Thanks for the heads up genius
lol
Would lubing the switch be doable without taking out the switch be doable ? and would it help with how loud my kb currently is ?
not without removing the switch, i mean technically itās possible but would take substantially longer
well shit, i cant remove the switch, since its not hotswap
Time to desolder
Donāt bother trying to lube your switches from the outside just to make it quieter
Just put some foam
idk if its doable with my kb

would it be doable on this ?
Nothing wrong with pp heh
monsgeek m1 or keychron q1 barebone
i noticed gamestop in town had a razer black widow v4 fullsize for $60

is that a good vid to learn from
you're good as long as you ignore videos with plouffe in them
and ignore hipyo as well
unless thatās what you want
feeling and sound profile are all very personal so, it's just something you'll have to figure out in the long run, people have different setups for working remote, on site, or for gaming, there are also like hybrid setups. If you want something that's extremely customizable for gaming, currently wooting is still the best though since you can customize how the keys behave so much and they are about the same prices as other quote on quote gaming companies.
is it possible to use regular-sized stabilizers for low profile switches?
I don't believe so
if i could buy a new steelseries apex m300 i would
you get used to a keyboard over 8-9 years ya know
the $3 pudding keycaps actualy came in trays
im amazed they werent just thrown in a ziplock bag
nice
clicky clacky
With most keychron keyboards you can remap every key including the knob using via
So It's up to you where you want to use the knob for :)
It controls the volume by standard
I'm trying to decide between a 75 and an 80. I want a really simple metal chassis and I want to be able to easily get caps for the layout.
Will be my first time building a keyboard.
If it matters, mostly for programming.
I have a 65 now (keychron k7 with gateron reds) and really hate having fn1 and fn2
Advice is welcomed.
I want to use gateron blacks because I love the feel of the reds aside from being too soft...
Looking for a quiet 60% board with light linear switches, any suggestions?
Buy a keychron Q1 barebone
You won't have difficulties finding keycaps for that, the layout is a good compromise and the board is good quality
Looks great. Thanks.
$59 = Aluminum, Gasket, Groved PCB, Knob, Stabs, Foams, PC Plate, Daughter Board, RGB, Hot Swap, Powerful Driver, Weight, Coiled Aviation Connector Cable is a HUGE DEAL We are pretty sure this is the most budget keyboard you can get, ever. which keycaps do y'all think would look best with my setup? (keyboard is going to be a GMK67 if that matters to you)
im thinking one of these two but i cant decide

and i need a new deskmat, any suggestions? im thinking of something white
Prob just like plain white so no letters if you are able to type without them
what do ya'll think about my rk g68 build
i know im pretty late but what do yall think about stock wooting he60?
What % keyboard is 84 keys?
Tkl is 87 right?
And where do I find keycaps for an 84 key keyboard
"84" keycaps alone doesn't describe a layout
that could be a TKL with a WKL bottom row
Is the Highground BLACKICE Base 65 Keyboard a good option for fortnite? Ive been using the Apex pro tkl for a while now but i also need a second keyboard for a second setup now.
High grounds arenāt bad keyboards just overpriced
Are you okay with a custom?
YES
Iven never got a keyboard before (just used free ofice ones) and im wondering what i look for and how to find decent keyboards
im looking for a wired key board, medium depth and no need for the fancy colors
I use a roccat swarm. its a good keyboard. only issue is its really obvious how dirty it gets.
sorry i cant find it
sorry i said the program you use to control it LOL
u good
akko includes so many keycaps in the $30 set omg
and got it for $20
all pbt
not the thickest but, itāll do the job.
the asa shape adds a bit premium feel to it
thx
how thick is it?
1.5mm i guess?
I bought a rk 84 keyboard and the A key aint working
Did you try to swap the switch?
Maybe they fucked up in the factory and the socket is loose
I'd suggest rma if it isn't switch nor os related issue
Lemme check
Keychron v2 š„
i tried everything
No F keys = L
V2 betterer
Jk
It comes down to preference
ehhhh I like 65%s
also lmao the rgb is so much dimmer when I swapped switches
Good. Rgb = bad
-300% fps from rgb
Does anyone know if an rk61 pcb will fit in a Womier wk61 case?
I wanna swap to this sick blue acrylic housing but the green pcb is
no
should be at most $35
fit as fit, good luck screwing it in
recommended linear 3pin switch? im using a stock redragon k617 red switch rn
womier has centered USBC
rk61 has the usb C on the left i think
so no it wont work
Are there any inexpensive pcbs that will fit?
for rk61 ?
wk61
I dont think so
rgb is really something you need to try before you judge
once you have muscle memory for the keys you dont really need strong overpowering rgb
my darker keyboards have good rgb but my finger muscle memory does it even without looking at it and even in the dark
Iām looking for a keyboard that
- Has RGB
- Little to no loud clicking
- No arrow keys
Any suggestions?
@grand totem Redragon K617 is a good option
Iāll check it out thx
hello recently built my first keyboard and bought glorious pandas i absolutely love the feel and sound of them but i didnt think about the backlight on my GMMK2 and it really does not shine through the switches well. How similar do the clear holy pandas sound and feel to glorious pandas. I also just ordered the drop LOTR black speak keycaps how well would the backlight show underneath those caps and is it even worth switching over switches with those caps. Thank you in advance for any and all help
recommended linear 3pin switch? im using a stock redragon k617 red switch rn
Milky gateron yellows
Why no one do this combo yet?
Any good gaming keyboards for 40-50?
(Wired)
Cherry MX Blues. Loud and mechanical! They sit upon a Keychron K11 Ergonomic and it is my favorite keyboard of all time.
You?
Logitech has always made an excellent product. I typed a Logitech MX for quite awhile.
I like the color glow, ambient and subtle, but vibrant and colorful.
They look really good.
Don't mind the wash out, bright monitors bad phone...
They appear to be really nice. If my K11 didn't have specific, low profile keycaps I would look into them.
Thank you. I love it.
What size do you want? (full size, 99key tkl, 60%, 65%)
What type of connectivity?.. Wired? Wireless? Bluetooth? tri mode?
What key switch type? do you prefer?
New keycap:)
Any yall QMK firmware flash?
Iām having a Python dependency problem (classic) on Linux and give up trying to fix it. Straight broken. Compiled firmware and all that
anyone have any advice on converting an old wired keyboard to a detachable usb c cable?
If there is enough room in the chasis.. and the cable is short enough
Just coil the cable into it, get an adapter and dremmel and/or 3d print till it looks nice
If that's not an option then just make sure all the leads are to the correct pins and make sure you use electrical tape so there isnt any exposed wire, pretty simple tho.
Anyone here know of any shine through keycaps that kinda look like this?

Why do you even compile it yourself
Itās what the instructions say to do
Regardless Ive got a windows booted up for this so lets get it done
alright, this is sick you just map your stuff right off the browser
Nah, itās GMMK2. They literally advertise this thing to be QMK compatible
This solves my issue of needing windows dependent software to do anything with it
Yeah
Is the steel series rival 3 any good?
anyone able to suggest a new keyboard?
Currently on a razer hunstsman mini, purple switches, getting annoyed with the clickyness and looking for something new
would prefer anything from 60-75% size
Iām no KB enthusiast or anything but GMMK2 65% kicks ass. Silent linear switches, comes with crappy caps so if you swap em great, modular, QMK firmware ready(so you donāt need to always run crappy software) has a foam insert, but Iād still give it a bit more loving. Bandaids under the stabs primarily
@quaint magnet What do you think about the Keychron K11 Pro? https://www.keychron.com/products/keychron-k11-pro-alice-layout-qmk-via-wireless-custom-mechanical-keyboard
Keychron K11 Pro is an ultra-slim wireless custom mechanical keyboard that allows anyone to master any keys or macro commands on its 65% Alice layout through VIA, it has included LSA (low profile spherical-angled) profile keycaps for both Windows and macOS, and users can hot-swap with Gateron low-profile MX mechanical switch in a breeze (for Hot...
I highly suggest it.
A little odd at first, but once you get used to it, it is a clean, lean machine.
thanks
What do I search for a keyboard w/o the number buttons and with 5 programmable buttons to the left of the main area with Bluetooth
first time lubing switches and i feel tortured from this
need a good mouse & mousepad combo for around 200 dollars

I hate lightweight mice
i hate anything heavier than my G402 HF.
If you blindfolded me and put a logitech pro x superlight in my hand
Then put an e-waiste hp or dell mouse in my hand
I would not be able to tell the difference
I've also been lookinf for something like this for my new keychron
I got my new keyboard!
exiting
Could someone help me with VIA? I applied a macro but it doesn't seem to be doing anything.
what is that blue and white keyboard on the left?
im hoping the ordering experance for most custom/barebones keyboards isnt as bad as my experance with amazon/glorious
are these barebones good?
yes i know this order is a bottom 1% experance
its only as bad as the keycaps/switches you put into it
anyone have experience with it?
i mean can barebones really even be bad?
im not even sure what switches to get though
id say glorious barebones is ok but i made the mistake of ordering the black friday special wich shipped the day it was estimated to arrive on and then it got lost in the mail
24th nov to dec 20th to get a keyboard
the chances are high you will be able to order that and review it before i see my keyboard

same board just $2 more
any suggestion for switches?
im fairly new to the hoby
and the total with standard shipping on that site will be 52.60 + shipping usd

lol amazon wants me to rank my experance on the keyboard that doesnt want to arrive
im not ranking it yet
Womier wk61
Recommendations for around 60?
idk rk61 pro
i upgrading my currently keyboard to this...
but how can i use that 6 extra buttons in the left ?
What website is good for building keyboards?
is there any gateron switch thats sound creamy or thocky ? i wanna build ny first keyboard using the gmk67
wym?
like information? purchasing parts?
also what country are you trying to purchase from?
milky yellow, baby racoon
Thanks i will look them UP
Like is there a website you can use to build keyboard and buy it?
ah like a prebuilt?
Yea
whats a decent wireless keyboard for gaming and long hours typing which isnt too loud and is actually worth it and not ridiculously expensive?
Nuphy Air series is silent but slim, Halo is full height. Akko tri mode boards are pretty good and also Monsgeek
also I think Keychron has some options
Do you have a good model recommendation? hopefully tkl?
halo75 from nuphy, from monsgeek you have monsgeek m1w and m3w
and from Akko 5075B plus
129 usd... damn
it all depends on the switches you choose in order to achieve silence
Yeah you need something cheaper ?
TKL
cuz im willing to pay slightly extra to not have 60
OH?
ships in february tho
this doesnt have keycaps tho
nah its a barebones
well
its kinda a lot to ask
but cheapest possible but not to the point where its just pure shit
Black & Silver 5075B Plus ISO
this is around 100
the dracula version is 10usd cheaper i think
this is what shows up when i search it
The Blue on White version of 5075B Plus v2 and Dracula Castle 5075B Plus v2 come with ASA profileĀ (Multi Modes) RGB LED Backlit + Hot-swappable + Bluetooth 5.0 + 2.4G Wireless + Wired (USB-C Mode) All in One! 75% Mechanical Keyboard with A Knob Akko Beken Plus multi-modes solution (2.4G/Bluetooth/Type-C); Gasket mount
89eur
but i can buy from the US aswell but it should arrive before jan 8th
ok this is still expensive but ig considerable.. im gonna look into the specifics n see
aka
watch 10 reviews
to check if its gonna work for me
if it exists
i mean this is not horribly expensive but im trying to go as cheap as possible for what i need
so if theres something cheaper please do tell
its actually really reasonable
for a mechanical keyboard i wouldnt go much lower
yeah there are like reddragon
those arent good
or maybe Ajazz
theyre not
but he wants cheaper then a 90usd akko tri mode
which is like a god keyboard for that price
with Akko yellows
like i dont need exceptional stuff... just something thats gonna work well without me noticing any major problems
example 60hz vs 144hz vs 240hz
theyre not pretty and you wont get any customer service
i dont like 60 but 240 is too high
I see
well then 60 is the cheap one
the in between is Akko
and then you go higher
okay... just wanted to see where you would draw that line
A dollar a switch?
Yea
full aluminium, tri mode
gasket mount
basically a monsgeek m3 but half the price
I'm looking for a keyboard cuz im using these rn and the switches are so not lubed its rusting at this point
now that theres lots of schoolwork n shit i got to type for longer
and be happy for the rest of your life
this one right?
Im typing on an akko board
and its such casual typing i much prefer it for everyday use
rather then a 400eur board
does this make a lot of noise though?
Its a linear switch
i dont mind some sound but at a point its annoying
if you want absolute silence you gotta pay extra for silent switches
but its much quieter then your average board do to the dampening
nah i dont want absolute... just not too loud
yeah this will be fine
great...
35 pack bro
its a quality nice sounding board
damn
Foor $36 dollars
prolly will restock by the time i convince my parents
Ohhh I didn't peep the total, wurf it
I had kailh speeds, but then I bought secondhand corsair silvers
any difference?
I ripped them out of a water damaged k70 lol
here it is on the US store
with shipping on 10th december
so you should be good, just make sure to get the yellow switches
need it before the 8th tho...
shipping from Akko takes time as they ship from china
if its the US
yeah for the US store
then its before the 8th
maybe 17days
very few keyboards will be here by the eight youll need something off amazon
otherwise i can always order to sweden
keychron shipping takes 2 weeks
Yeah order yeah but delivery wont arrive before the 8th
for the cheaper brands you have to be patient
oh
not december
realized its the 4th rn
the US store is sometimes faster then the EU one
for the Pro ACR 68 mine took 17days from china and a friends from the US took 13
eh it can be cheaper yes
my order was 5eur more expensive then the US one even with taxes
6%
i can hit 6wpm on that baby
because i gotta map every key
They are good in their oem nature
But not as good as recent more specifically designed key switches. Very good overall typers after lubes and films
such as
Tangerines or zeal telios
I'd take either over a speed linear
heres a challange... explain to a parent why they should spend 90 euros on a mech keyboard when they can get one for 30
Build construction, features
Rgb non rgb, metal vs non metal backplate, size / form factor
You can snag a basic af g413 for a good all rounder
Full size with backlighting
But if you game on a budget, for the past 7 years I recommend the reddragon k552 for baby's first mechanical gaming keyboard
I mean if their financial situation doesnt allow it
its understandable
But its christmas isnt it ?
Keyboards last a pretty while, I have two model m's 30 years old. As long as the caps on the pcb don't cronk out or the trace materials break down
Any keyboard with internal storage / battery are ticking time bombs
Cooper is really the main enemy, why gold pins are a "premium" especially on high wear
we celebrate christmas but dont do gifts š¬
its nothing like that... just the mindset of spending much less money and getting the same thing (they don't know the difference between mech and membrane)
Well
may sound dumb but if you are old enough to work, 90eur is easily made in sweden
and i think you get money from the state for going to school right ?
anyone using razer here? how do i even upload profiles to their storage? i seem to only have option to import profiles from cloud but dont have the option to export to cloud, anyone know?
My man ... We have the money... That's not the issue...
The problem is, are my parents willing to spend that much on something you can get for much cheaper
I had another question
How do I know that the drac won't end up like my zebronics, all sticky and rough switches
Do I have to frequently lube all the switches?
Yeah no I'm 14... And it ain't summer yet so
Youll work it out man dont worry
Just explain it with your words
thats such a blatant and stupid thing to say lol
hey quick question. have a msi steel series laptop that i spilled coffee on. has anyone able to take it apart and just clean it? i already tried with the keyboard installed but no luck. All the keys work just sticky keys
don't put it in rice

I hope... But 90 euros is still a lot of money for a keyboard when there's shit for like 5 to 30 euros which work aswell... So It's a hard bet.
Hard to tell you, if they have money and youre still a child I guess its natural to maybe have them buy something for you š
Isnt it ?
What would they say if you said you need a phone ? Would they buy a 100eur cheap android ? if you wanted an iPhone
first off, bad example.. they never buy me phones.. i get hand me downs... and yeah if they had to they would get me a cheap android like the one i have rn... is that not normal..?
i have like a ~150 euro phone rn
Redmi note 9 pro max
my moms old one so yeah its old
woo my wpm is now starting to get over 10
Im just trying to understand your situation :d
i love how it feels though so imma keep practicing
lol its good... ill see whether i can get it or not... i hope i can but the chances are slim... thanks for the help though
Just buy the cheap ones if itās all the same to you
all the same to my parents... not me ;-;
Yall will laugh at me
But I think my endgame keyboard is a wk61
I don't want to spend another penny on this ridiculous hobby anymore
WK61 + glorious lynx switches + Custom diy backlit italicized mac g3 style keycaps
And a silicone mod on the case for some thock
Never doing any keyboard stuff after I'm done with this project
Finally snagged a Field75, Nuphy went and stocked almost all variants finally.
Looking for a suggestion on dark keycap set for a white Halo96? Not sure if the shine through keycaps will look great in day time.
I have the default white keycap set on a black Halo96 - non shine through. Quite happy with the contrast. Wouldn't be surprised if a dark set looks great on the white
quick and dirty photoshop edit on a halo96 photo might help you get an idea
Ya I was thinking of that but oddly enough they don't seem to sell the default set. Also I think default set has mainly white keys on black version.
damn
Yeh, grabbed the Gravity model with Polaris switch. Been wanting Gravity or Electro forever
It'll be a nice addition to my Nuphy collection XD
yeh
Nice
can finally leave my halo on my desk at home when I go to the office
Half decent caps?
anyone know where i can get a good quality white mousepad/pbt keycaps in eu ?
on amazon theres a bunch of like white topography mousepads that look cool but idk if theyre good quality
and keycaps im not sure where to buy
maxgaming
Is there a barebones out there that would emphasize silent audio qualities?
Iād like to go from my gmmk2, switches are fine to reuse here. But ideally would like something plastic case, recessed keys, gasket mount etc
There arent many options to get that italicized mac font so..
Ide say worth it for the aesthetic but sound is subjective
If you want more of a double shot sound you could fill the caps with Emlers glue
