That controller is GARBO
rama moment
Man
U know what the keeb town poster was?
And then the artist had to change it coz all that shit with Rama and hibi happened lol
yeah its a shame
i did see hibi andy n kate in a meet at least
(and hibiki)
not my pic
Lel
yeah isn't it Elvish?
and the dark one is Black Speech
sort of elvish font for english lanugage
i like it just not green
lol
I know, I mentioned Hebrew afterward bc it also looks cool
Oh right they’re not GMK
Looking at switches for a number pad. Deciding between mx clear and mx brown. My current keyboard has browns. Anyone have experience with both?
just found transparent keycaps. they look sick in pictures
Been thinking of replacing my g915 with another low profile keyboard
Looking to get new keyboards for my setup (need two) and recommendations?
hey gang spilled some energy drinnk on my g915. cleaned as best i could and it works fine but the presses feel atrocious. whats my best option to actually like clean the switches?
Clean as much as you can with alcohol. Otherwise get the soldering gun
2x realforces
I prefer yellows
What is the thockiest switch for gaming
Topre
electro captives (EC)
I am looking for a good budget mechanical keyboard for gaming and basic computing so a TKL or a 75% would be great. Any suggestions?
Electro-capacitive
LOL
@swift forge @arctic shuttle
Proud of you
Feels and sounds way better then my previous
oh wow
thats some dedication
yep
they feel just okay after lubing
they were in a keeb my gf built for herself like 2 years ago so I cleaned it and lubed her switches today
I think the only spare switches I have are some gateron browns and reds
maybe some kailh reds as well
damn
how does the keyboard sound?
Haven't reassembled yet
gonna lube the stabs and finish cleaning the inside of the frame tomorrow (her cat liked to sit on it so cat hair everywhere 😵💫 )
The switches feel a lot better lubed tho
yeah I can imagine, is that where you brush the switches with a coating?
yes
Good on ya
It arrived! I won't get much time with it this week as I'm away on vacation though. Hype to use it a lot next week! Initial thoughts pressing the keys for a few moments, absolutely love it!

Looks nice
Nice!
Dude chosen keychron as his first prebuild board
Wise
Scene from Batman Returns at 1:29:26. I would kill for a replica of these caps
i need a good recommendation on a budget mechanical keyboard
❤️
They are PGA White (A) and Black (M)
Good luck finding an in stock set
SA not quite the profile though
SA dolce also very far off
It's white and black my guy
You could probably mix MT3 BoW and WoB to match it pretty close
It's either a Honeywell or a beam spring
Wtf is sa deepwell
That's close
There are custom mods anyway
SA wouldn't be quite as scoopy as the ones in that picture
mt3 on the other hand is prty scoop central lol
Mt3 so scoopy that it's a little jarring at first lol
kat/kam > mt3 > SA for me
i see how it is then
agreed
DCS > KAT > MT3 > SA
You gonna call me wack now
Lemme see

guys i wanna start building a keyboard but on a quite low budget, what are good cheap swithes
Used topre
Gateron Yellows
Jwick Blacks
thx
can you use lekker switches (with fetures like setting your accuation point and rappid trigger) on akko keyboard to be specific the Black & Silver 5075B Plus ISO
Since we are on the subject, what are some good barebones keyboards?
topre
keychron,akko
Oo akko stuff looks nice. Too bad they have a lot out of stock right now
they do ? where you from ?
Us
they had a massive sale recently , boards up to 50% off
so thats probably the reason, whats your budget ?
Ideally less than 100 for the kit. Not including switches and keycaps. Cheaper would be even better
lets see more setups! i know theres some crazy builds in here
keychron
setups ?
try Monsgeek
they make diy kits for 100ish
full alu
That was one i was considering. Microcenter has a barebones 75% kit i was interested in as well
yeah go for that
The keychron or the Microcenter?
the box says
alu casw
and description says plastic
but even if its half alu, gasket mount is awesome
id go for that
looks pretty good
They were pretty hefty when i picked one up
Could be same oem
maybe yeah
either way akko or keychron are great choices
or if you wanna scour aliexpress there are many other cheaper options
Eh ill stay away from aliexpress
damn I have only great things to say about ali 😄
yeah on some items the prices are cheaper elsewhere but also they have soo much stuff
I know there is some good stuff on there occasionally, its just hard to tell whats good and whats not
this is great
It looks identical to a gmmk pro
only good 75 is the 7v because gok is god
yeah also
Wouldn't be surprised if it was literally the same as well
Seems like microcenter is selling cope now
ew exploded
Just jumping on the hype probably
Whats wrong with 75%?
I'm trying to find an hhkb pro 2 in all white around $150-$200
i just plugged in a keyboard and it isn't working
nor doesn't it appear in device manager
do i have to send it back?
What brand?
hyperx
Try a different port?
i tried all 7 thet were on my pc
nevermind i guess i'm just stupid
now it works
thanmk you
Literally nothing
Clearly I'm using something wrong on superbuy cause I get zero results
you got a taobao link ?
what are the best keyboard mods? (excluding foam and lube)
tape
how to tape
o ring
wtf is o ring
just tape the back of the pcb with masking tape
or electrical
2 layers work great
rubber ring shaped like an o
waht difference does it make
o ring is putting o rings on standoffs on tray mount
work somewhat, not perfectly
it makes hell of a difference
reduces vibrations and adds thock
Which keyboard is better epomaker th80 pro or epomaker aura75?
epomaker th80pro
but overall stay away from epomaker
why
like what?
Not the rgb ones
I mean cherry reds dont have much of a sound
Unless you count that subtle plastic sliding on plastic sound
gateron g pro yellow 3.0 clear top are really good
much better than milky version personally and factory lube is near perfect with very little wobble
Haven't tried many switches but pandas are top for me
I didn't have the opportunity to try them so I went mx reds
I’m looking for a 104-key keyboard with Cherry blues or similar, as cheap as possible
switches are something you can't just buy without trying them
how cheap we talking?
Something reputable, but not high end.
Something with a good company behind it but not a “brand name” if you know what I mean?
Like Behringer? But keyboards instead of audio equipment
if it's in your budget, maybe a keychron?
though clickies like blues will be noisy
I gtg though, I'll respond in an hour or so. if anyone else wants to chime in go right ahead
should i get a

im upgrading from my shitty ass redragon keyboard and i want smth good and i shouldnt have to replace for quite a few years
i mainly do programming along playing fps, rhythm, and platformer games
Realforce
if your responding to mine, i kinda... cant
im trying to keep a budget of $50-60, maybe $70 if im willing to spend that much
Oh
Does keychron have a quiet keyboard and I assume I'll have to buy a hand rest too
Quiet/gentle mean they sound like a membrane keyboard or quieter?
3:15 is browns

does anyone else's bluetooth on their logitech g915 really suck? left my receiver in a friends pc so have to use bt, but it frequently disconnects, and just doesnt work at all if i have an object near the back of the keyboard
bluetooth sucks in general? but that sounds bad for bluetooth. If your on a desktop, are you using your anetna?
how should i mod my keychron v1, i have custom keycaps and gat yellows
i didnt put the foam in it yet
or the stuff that came in it
*with it
Opinions needed. Keychron Q1 QMK Custom Mechanical Keyboard - Version 2 or Wooting 60HE.
Realforce is better
thanks, but inquiring specifically about those two. 🙂
Im looking for keycaps for a 75% board. It has south facing rgb. Should i get some shine-through keycaps to fully utilize the leds?
Sound wise or anything else
Wooting should suit you just fine
Has more functionality and reliable developers for working on the customisation software
the 'best' keyboard i've had is the razer huntsman.. but i want something more premium and not just pay for a name and shit ecosystem... so i've watched several reviews and landed on those two.. but for the occasional FPS games i play.. it looks like the wooting may be better suited.

can you use lekker switches (with fetures like setting your accuation point and rappid trigger) on akko keyboard to be specific the Black & Silver 5075B Plus ISO
does the akko 5075b plus support hall sensor
im thinking between tuf k1 and vapoo v500
ones membrane and others mechanical
stay away from membrane
You know, what has membranes? The mitochondria, which is the powerhouse of the cell
indeed you should stay away from membrane keyboards like the model m
this is dumb
Whats wrong with it?
It's dumb, it doesn't have AI included /s
flexcuts!!!!!
i love flexcuts
truly the innovation of the century
everything should have flexcuts
the chassis doesn't have enough flexcuts imo
yeah
energy compounds , atp
adenosine triphosphate
although it's a totally different thing
its shit?
they don't feel as good as mechanical
wait so you're saying the model m feels bad????!!!!
probably, if it's membrane, it doesn't feel nice
memchanical is different
buckling spring is a different thing to just membrane. it's not even on topic
so are regular rubberdomes memchanical too?
those use membranes just for sensing too dipshit
a membrane on its on literally wouldn't function as a keyboard so yes its on topic
it's not?
it's litterally mechanical switches but with membrane rather than contacts
yes, but combined with mechanical switches
memchanical
mechanical switches but membrane under it
you realise those "memchanical" switches are just regular rubber domes with a click leaf right?
its not a discrete switch or anything
dumbass lol
then i could be wrong, oh well
what? mechanical is better than membrane?
imo, yes
i'm not though
modern mechanical is far better than modern membrane
i mean, i'd love to be corrected tbh
that's how i learn
i'll look them up
yes topre uses rubberdomes and capacitive sensing
but not the cheap ass white membrane stuff, right?
the ones you find in cheap logitechs
because quality differs with price
wdym
please, explain what you mean so my "non hobbyist" brain understands
i won't, but ok
i get your point, there's a point where you get diminishing returns
i'm not?
i say i don't know much about it but i try to help
bc hypyo exists?
keyboard youtubers exist
dude trying to help doesn't mean you have to defend your opinion to the grave
i'm not trying to
says the elitist
whatever
it's new people to the hobby that hurts it
sure
no its new people who present their opinions as fact that hurt it really
not the elitist that rather want to laugh at noobs and flame them
then my fucking bad
then i'm sorry, happy?
that's not a toxic thing to do at all
nice job hiding that react
i'd love info, but not be corrected in a snarky way, so please, tell me your wisdom
i'm all ears
here: what are topre switches?
google it dude
bruh
i want to learn from the hobbyist
you know what? fine, here's one i can't ask google: what are your favourite switches?
which ones do you recommend?
are there any different types of topre switches>?
but their actuation force is what makes them different?
what are housings for topres?
did you read the page at all
alright, my bad
if you're going to flame me again, i'm gonna leave.
alright
i read it
so, they're kinda like cherrymx, but membranes?
or is that a bad take?
and they still suffer from the accidental bottoming out of membrane boards?
i've heard of buckling springs from shortcircuit tbh
ok
just disregard anything ltt says wrt keyboards
including plouffe
actually mice too
i'm guessing they don't get it right with keyboards?
have you read the pages
i'm getting to it
no they don't
is it in general, or is it with keyboards other than membrane or mechanical?
everything
Anyone with the ROG Strix Scope II 96 , got any modding recommendations or switch replacements
i can't say i fully agree to it, since they do seem to get mechanicals right, but i'll be wary of it
mice i do get, forgetting to remove the film under a mouse is pretty dumb
if i'm being honest their peripheral videos are only useful for manufacturers to learn how to make the UX easy for techbros
they don't
even switches?
how so?
IC or GB?
oh
from my limited knowledge, group buys are stupid, right?
so, it's better for smaller keyboard makers?
no
oh
so kinda like a preorder?
but if you become a bigger company, then it's a different strat?
or same thing?
then, if it's group buys, why can they sell out? can't they just order as many as they need?
or is there a window?
and once that goes over, it's sold out?
not strictly true
its supposed to mean minimum orders before the gb can proceed
ok, makes sense
but if they don't, they don't order more?
fair enough
why would people charge back? wouldn't the company just send the order anyways?
even if it doesn't sell well?
are you talking about boards or keycaps lmao
oh, ok. that would explain why
endgame is just a mentality
though, membrane and mechanical is mostly objective, right?
if you like membrane, get membrane, if you like mechanical, go mechanical?
i mean everything that involves you using it is subjective
fair enough
pretty much, yeah
it's just how it feels to you that matters
ok, welp, thanks for the knawledge, learned alot today
I see you still haven't read the pages I linked
I did, it's just that i haven't tried topres, so I can't make an opinion on them
ok ill just say it straight, do not use mechanical or membrane to describe keyboards
describe and form an opinion on them using the switches
and construction etc
fair enough, it's not the board that's membrane or mechanical, it's the switches
or optical if we want to start that flame war
fuck i missed the fight
or they buy ice cream machines and porches lel
did you see this lol
is it worth getting the volume knob on the keychron V2
If you think you would use it
fair point
They are pretty neat
I have questions though. Why do so many keyboard kits come with south facing leds? It seems like many enthusiasts don't use lights and the south facing ones are apparently bad for backlight and shine through?
Like i understand the clearance issue but why include the leds still?
coz it doesn't otherwise impact the experience
a "might as well and attract customers who want it" sorta deal, coz if they didn't want RGB to begin with they can just leave it off
Before people started making switches where the stem was centered, they use to be off center which would effect keycap compatibility, specifically with Cherry style keycaps when paired with North facing LED's
Plus, enthusiasts don't use shine through due to a major drop in quality compared to that of standard double shot abs
Sorry I went a little elitist there I'll tone it down father
Damn
So its kinda just there... because?
I guess if the boards allow it, they might as well
What do you mean
Like the contacts for leds are on the boards. Probaby doesn't cost the oem much to add the leds
You have to design the PCB for it
Once you get over a certain price point, people don't care about RGB or backlit keys
Like if I'm spending $800 on a board I'm not going to care of it has RGB or not because that's not why I'm buying the board, and just people share that opinion
Hell I personally prefer solder PCB's over hot swap
But if we are looking at like mass-produced boards in like keychron or whatever. Is it just easier to have it as a default that to have 2 different boards?
For South facing leds
Right
It makes sense to have them all South to avoid keycap interference issues
Right i knew about the interference, i just wasn't sure why they would include them at all if they dont work great on the south. I think i understand now tho
Oh the shine through keycaps, cause they still work
And shine through are dirt cheap to manuf
In case someone wanted it pretty much
Yada Yada, better to have something available and not need/want it vs not having it at all
Makes sense
Coz you don't know what the purchaser will ultimately want
Makes it hard for me, cause i feel somewhat obligated to use the rgb even though it may not look great with whatever keycaps i pick
Do you guys have hand rests on your keyboards?
Can anyone tell me why my windows key stops working? I have to restart my pc to fix it and did not hit the wind lock button on my keyboard
anybody know anytihng about via not working with the mosngeek m1
you have the international version ?
i bought the chinese one from Taobao and its not via compatible
monsgeek m3
I need to find a cool set of mt3 profile keycaps. I really like that vintagey key shape
drop has a lot of mt3
Yeah they seem to be the main seller of that profile
they are the only first party seller
MT3 Olivetti
Or Camillo
Same thing
For 35 euros, whats a good mechanical keyboard to get?
I weirdly like the noctua caps. I dont own any noctua stuff though
It's gmk bread with extra steps
you get what you paid for

THIS IS NOT...
Looks like a warped Etsy special
its just a resin keycaps
anyone know how to swap this to ISO in VIA, my keyboard changes to ansi sometimes and then my @ key goes to the number 2 instead of the key above the right shift
As you can see it's not quite right at the moment
looking for a keyboard with TLK and membrane/flat. and i suck at finding online ratings on this.
i know of some good price comparison sites, but i have yet to find one thats good with comparing keyboards on performance/value regardless of offer.
got any good website that allows for tag-oriented rating search on keyboards?
i have a convertible but i need a way to easily switch between touch and typing, so i am looking for a quiet keyboard that is quiet/slim, not too overkill and decent quality in that order
having the keyboard out makes it near impossible to accurately write on screen
from what little i found, the MX Keys are favored by many Logitech K380
flat, usually also implies membrane. there are a lot of keyboards that have a membrane but use big keycaps to imitate mechanicals, which are usually the type of keyboards you find under "membrane" rankings.
when i look for just "quiet" keyboards it tends to be mechanicals, and even the most expensive 600€ ones still are louder than a stock laptop keyboard. plus, i prefer to stay below 100 if possible, albeit 200€ is my max.
and convertible is the laptop im using. also often called 2in1
im used to calling it that, and its part of its official branding afaik
realforce ticks all those quotas
this one is the k380 i talked about. flat, presumeably quiet and has a 65% layout afaik. plus it has a device switcher
real good
they dont look flat tho
like, i dont mind bigger keys if it werent for the typing sound. flat keys means quieter tippytaps
dont wanna be the loud guy during my uni lecture
if it was just work from home id go with a good keychron k5 deal i found online
dont tell me i started another brand war in #peripherals
ive been looking at his messages for some time and he only and always suggests realforce to everyone
i mean id never take any advise for granted. but advise helps me focus on some key canidates
I mean they are good boards
cause realforce is good
but its not a universal answer
they are fairly quiet board
topre isnt the answer
i dont need office quiet, i need lecture hearing quiet
budget ?
^
wow dude rent free much?
anyways realforce is good
better than 95% of keyboards out there
not really
yeah it is
yeah considered that, but the ones that can compete with membrane in quietness are 200+
ok your confirmation bias is so obvious 😄
at least the one that get shilled
just dont spend cash on topre if you dont need it
topre?
i think maybe try giving opinions when you have experience with switches that aren't just mx clones
id prefer something i like using for longer amounts of time. i always try avoiding throwaway products
yeah realforce is topre
the realforce will last you atleast a decade
😄
ill say that much
hahahahaha
I've spilt atleast 5 cups of water and one jug onto it and no problems so far
XD
also been using it daily for 4 years now
there are many second hand units that have been used for upwards of a decade
either way even if realforce was secretly good and every critics corrupt, i have yet to see an actual FLAT membrane keyboard by them
sorry
eh
those exist actually
unless it makes little difference in sound
but from my experience flat is always best for sound, even with quiet mechanicals
not really true
sound as in quiet
flat usually implies rubberdome which are inherently pretty quiet

im not looking for good:10 & quiet:5, im looking for quiet:10
i agree that mechanicals are on average much better than membrane minus the cost, but im hyperfocusing on the quietness rn
no this dude just thinks it bad and not worth it because its expensive new and that i've been shilling it and nothing else here lol
ive tested some mechs with super quiet switches
doesnt have to be 0DB but it should be on the level of an average laptop keyboard
well thats topre
its even quieter if you silence it
if the price isnt too heavy, id love to include those in my search then
but you mentioned something about the dimensions ?
like being flat ?
or you mean flat sound
i just know that with the right technique you can type almost silently with flat keyboards, if you just press them slow and gently
dunno how easy it is with the added distance and literal MECHANICAL structure
the membrane itself makes no sound after all
thats just because you aren't impressing enough force onto the switch for the stabiliser mechanism to rattle
i meant flat keys bc shorter travel distance makes it easier to type quietly imo
plus this
unless im greatly overexaggerating things its only logical that membrane is quieter
especially including the average
because rubberdomes act as a dampener when bottoming out
yeah thats what i mean
it also contributes to the mushy feel regular full height rubberdomes have
laptop switches don't really have that because the rubber dome is so thin
i dont want a keyboard that tries to juggle everything, i just want a good flat quiet keyboard thats wireless and has a decent layout
i suppose logitech has something for you then lol
and id prefer to get the most out of my buy, both in terms of longterm value and price
so i should go with this
you can have full height lubed mechanical silent switches that are quieter than flat rubber dome over membrane keyboard ... you just have to build it accordingly
i dont have the know how and i doubt it will ever be as quiet as, at least not with some considerable price uptick
its the only accessible keyboard that appreciates in value
ive heard similar things about keychron
but they are full mechanicals, and their delay is ass for gaming
keychron doesn't appreciate lol
not that delay is that relevant in this case
and the slim membrane board will be better for gaming ?
are you buying one for portable use?
had this for a while too
the layout looks weird but is actually really good
my current keyboard thats attached to my lenovo yoga makes it near impossible to switch between typing and using my pen on the screen cause of the weird angle. so i planning to get a seperate one. thats my primary use.
once you get used to it atleast
im planning to check local offers and market place for used deals, so its always good to have multiple models in mind in case the recommended one isnt sold
and remember its pretty much indestructible
or a good reduced deal on amazon or sth
id have to look into reviews of it first. that is if there are any
no reviews are worse than bad ones since bad ones often outline stuff you can deal with. i even saw some amazon 1stars bc they bought the wrong keyboard layout XD
yeah still on the fence for those. they tend to give good recommendations from my experience, but for products that you pay a hefty premium for
they tend to "only be 400€" and "beginner friendly"
its easy to look knowledgeable to a normal consumer is all I'll say
wtf what did they do to my beloved Ctrl
those bastards
yeah every keyboard tends to be "the best for the price"
the control is usually on the diamond key on the left
that layout shown is for people who prefer the old unix (i think) layout of control there
ah, i was almost worried that they fucked it up
the fn key is a bit odd for me
i probably also need a bindable key as well to assign the linux command function for umlauts and other symbols
i usually used the right control for that
dunno if im willing to experiment like that
plus it still doesnt look like itd be that quiet
then how about this https://hhkb.io/models/HHKB_Professional_JP/
the one you're looking at is a type s
factory silenced
what about the hhkb lite ones
i think its out of my price range, since i dont have a big reason to spend more than 100
only if theres a really good reason
logitech will probably have something for you then
idk being able to last a decade while appreciating is pretty good a reason for me personally
After owning several keyboards, the best sounding/feeling keyboard has to be the new asus rog scope 2 96%
Ordered a set of these keycaps (XDA) hoping theyll improve the feel and look even more
its a 75%
its not, its just the keycaps design (they come with the extras for a full size)
its 96% dumbass
no clue, i dont have the chart in front of me
Ahhh i see
ye its very nice to be fair, having a numpad on a small ish keyboard is very useful
its hard finding keycaps cuz of that enter key
took me three hours to find a decent set of keycaps..
THANKFULLY.. this one comes with that enter key as an extra..
Onced I bought a sa grab bags
I found like 17 iso enters
why no sharing?
oof
wtf is that murder o_o
As i said, grab bags
Mine was idk the lowest end possible bag
U can see some solid sets
theremin reviewed the new mx2as
its been up for a while
I should get some browns while the molds are still fresh
incl. shipping from some polish store
it won't be quiet
im saying it here again for some feedback
its supposed to be
its really fucking hard to compare quietness tbh
i dont want a shit keyboard or shit price just for it to be quiet
but i dont want to buy a good keyboard thats really loud just bc "good value"
and I'm saying it won't be
i was about to look them up rn you bastard
im looking for a keyboard i can pair up with my 2-3 devices for 3-5 years. more would be nice but not neccesary
im not planning to marry my keyboard so i dont plan on spending 300 or more on a topre or whatever
U interested in customs or prebuilts ?
i cant really afford to no
maybe once im done studying
i am looking for a keyboard that doesnt bother anyone in the presentation hall of my uni
and one that doesnt have issues with stuck keys like my current one
Sub and under 300 get u some great deals
Will get ur foot on this rabbit hole
my built in keyboard is good enough tho, and id never buy a keyboard rn if it wasnt for the fact that my touch laptop is hard to draw on while also using the keyboard. so im looking for something that can sit on my lap, or at least in a better position
sub what
if all recommendations fail to convince me ill just get this one and be done with it
maybe yeah
@fathom terrace Look at the asus rog scope 2 (snow switches)
this is the quitest keyboard ive had and the best feeling one
look at youtube etc for reviews, the sound profile is thonk
i went back to the mx keys mini. this time i bought it for sure
id love to get into mechanical keyboards in the future, but i feel like if i buy one that is both really quiet and is supposed to satisfy my every needs ill end up with a product that either burns a hole in my budget or wont fully satisfy either side
worst case i can always save up and regret my decisions later ;P
still thx @boreal rivet @chrome raft @amber tartan @sage wren for all the help and recommendations
maybe in a few years ill get a really comfy keyboard with some kick ass caps

til then id still love to see your guys setups
its always fun to see ppl get creative
just dont use functionally keycaps that you constantly fear of smudging
like, ive seen some that have no info on them, or are shit like literal snow globes that stick out of the keyboard like a sore thumb
yeah maybe. but to have something thats both a good mechanical as well as silent enough i think id either have to spend a lot of money or time. id rather have a keyboard in the future that got great sound, and only is "office-quiet" at best
Yeah bud, we are looking forward to you spendong thousands in a piece of rectangle metal with bird or smth in the front
not the uni presentation quiet that i need
i mean u dont have to spend crazy c:
yes yes, thats what becoming rich is for
bragging rights
i know but i gotta spend something considering how subjective and biased everything is. both the opinions as well as the perception. one person calls something premium the other says it feels like cheap plastic
and then each side calls the other bs
id have to either spend time or money to truly know who is in the right, if anyone
i mean i bought the scope 2. and just gonna change out the keycaps.
to me its the best keyboard ive owned. and ive spent ALOT on different keyboards 😢
seems that manufacturers are actually starting to sell good DIY (quality) keyboards
funny thing, every time i look at keyboard enthusiasts on youtube, when they review its like "its a good keyboard to have in my wardrobe full of 1k keyboard builds i spent 5 hours each on. so if i ever feel like typing on it ill take it out and use it for a week"
ofc hyperbolic but you get the point
here i am worrying about overspending on a single fkn membrane keyboard for uni
im new to the sphere, but ive already head the phrase of "x finally makes good and affordable DIY keyboards" at least 5 times on different brands
I can only speak of Asus
and theres a big difference between "good for the price" and "actually good", especcially in relation to the budget of the buyer
their azoth and scope, are a major step in the right direction
azoth however is very high end on the price scale however
asus prolly wont have shipping issues at least
Probably not 😄
i literally am on an asus laptop rn, they are pretty decent. if their keyboards are good its not bad to vote with your wallet a bit
make them consider feeding the market
true
give it a year or two
i feel like with time especially asus will mature even more
although i still am constantly unsure what company tries to overprice shit bc they can and what company has good prices
unless its alienware or razor, ive always been told they overprice stuff
I love keyboard
That's hhkb it's the layour
i know i was partially sarcastic
We love hhkb
it might be good but rn i need something reliable that i can use under the table
could be fun to try if i have more disposable income, and time to get a general keyboard not one this hyperspecifically tailored to my needs
Get a Frog TKL
is it a trademarked layout?
too late, got the mx mini already
Nah it's just their layout
so technically if it takes off there could be multiple manufacturers making it
not gonna be that bad
There are multiple manufacturers making them
Hhkb layout atleast
its a traditional flat mechanical. my expectations arent high for that very reason, but i expect some base quality.
what do you think of colemak/dvorak
maybe once i have a keyboard with interchangeable buttons i could try it
but as of now i think custom letter positions are somewhat overrated
I can't do it, I can only do qwerty
especcially considering the learning curve for something that is meant to be intuitive
I learned Dvorak and thought it was dumb
neo2 apparently is also made for german or sth
tried it a bit
for android layout
cant say it made things worse
but sure as hell not a noticeable improvement either
You can get pretty quick with it, but it still feels unnatural to me atleast
yeah i guess so
tbf my right hand never uses the thumb nor the small finger, so i could be more efficient anyways
custom layout or not
I do like a nice Alice though
type k best
The thing that looks like airplane wings?
The grill of a corvette
Lawl
Thr afa
The afa
Am afa*
That plouffe reviewed?
I think he did, I didn't watch it though lol
someone help my pick a purple matching deskmat for this
this one is really matching
much appreciated
Is that a m1w
They lookthe same thu
indeed
My first nice keyboard.
Ah, topo keycaps
What board is that
looks like a gmmk pro alright
higround keycaps ?
Its gmmk pro and i put in durok pom piano switches.
https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B0C2YLGY79?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1 Dagaladoo XVX caps here is the link.
Those switches are niceeee
Present it
My pro jp comes September 18th
And I need to cope with the layout
Tiny spacebar
Silicone? Or rubber
No kinetic sand? What a shame
Hey, I know that guy
He's kind of a prick
That's what I'm saying, he's a scammer too
Ya his real name is ||Josiah||
SAME
Prolly gonna just get MX sliders tho
I'ma try the deskeys stuff
See how it goes
Each slider is $1.05 a piece
Thats what I plan on doing
Maybe some Olivetti
AHHHH MT3 THOCK THO
Who makes some solid topre keycaps
I want those
When you put in a China order let me know I'll throw down for some keycaps
That's fine, I get that stock topre experience until then
And that was what, july
What's the probability I hate JIS,
Can't be worse than that R2
I really wanna try one of those coolermaster topre boards
Ya
Was gonna say supposedly best stock sliders out of the other big 2
You gonna keep waiting too
Allegedly
nice
Beta test these for me thanks
Also arent these nissho hipro
Or did kbdfans actually make a hipro set with nissho colors
How did you find a set for so cheap lol
Just curious, do you guys prefer wired or wireless?
why does my up key sound diferent from any other one

china no1
We love China
Real
My first mechanical keyboard, with silent red switches 😁 I love it
Is Dvorak's music any good. I hear people like his keyboards
Lol.
cool. any performers you think are good? I'm looking for a SACD to test my new UBD player
incredibly upset to learn that my keycap set has yellow and orange keycaps and that they're intermingled. been using it for 9 months and only noticed when I ordered some orange keycaps because it's my favorite color. They showed up and were the same color.
Always thought it was weird that the keycap set came with 2 rows of yellow lol....
I can see it much better in the picture, in real life I can't tell at all...
I have bad news...you might be color blind
yeah, it rarely comes up (or I guess I only notice it rarely). Only other time it's negatively impacted me that I can remember was doing job evaluations
the good thing is there are 5 keys per row and you can just move them to the right place using the photos!
which would make more sense with the colors as you guys see it? red blue orange yellow or red blue yellow orange?
but if you're a starfield fan -- Blue-Yellow-Orange-Red
too many fan configs, trying to find the offiical color band lol
I think its this
so blue yellow orange red
Red, Orange, Yellow, Blue
So my only gripe with my keyboard (Halo96) - The feet don't "lock" into place and if I slide it forward a tiny bit, the feet close.
I wonder if a company exists that makes keyboard feet replacements that can lock into place and have a clip to press in to move them.
yeah
that happens with all keyboards tho
yeh
flip out feet will close if you move them forward
at least they dont fall off like my old board haha
im glad
the 2.4ghz dongle goes far too, can game from my livingroom with my wireless mouse on the tv over moonlight without plugging it into my shield
less input lag this way
how´s the sound ?
i don't know how to put it into words
i love it aha
we tried all the switches they gave in the box and this is still our favorite
yeah mine is like marbly
i like that they give samples
yeah
have you looked
which switch you have in your spacebar ?
I had a night breeze
check
from the sides
gonna see if the puller goes that wide
lol
is it a blue one ?
I like it either way
its intentional
the spacebar sounds worse with a racoon
something id love to have is those silicon pads
like to be able to buy them separately
i can technically put any of the sample switches in the space bar if i wanted right
yep
aha
with that switch
yeah i'm pretty good with it
racoon is a bit high pitch for a spacebar
im sad i can't use aurora to control the keyboard lights on nuphy products
small sacrifice to make
no razer chroma lights for me
anyway i think maybe 1 or 2 games use it that i play
so wtv haha
i honestly love the special ghostbar sounds
yeah a well lubed durock stab with a nice spacebar sounds great
i love how no matter which part of the spacebar i hit it's the same
but a ghostbar has something special
