I’ve misplaced my switch puller, what can I use instead?
One came with my board when I got it like 6 months ago but can’t find the box rn lol
teeth
you bet - if you need anymore tech tips let me know. Ill supplement until the overlord is back on the saddle.
Overlord lmao

is akko good keyboards (i already ordered lul)
Just thought I’d show my Anne Pro 2 I actually got for free from a friend as it was broken, works completely fine but the battery will need to be replaced
Any recommendations for a hot swappable keyboard?
Don’t know a whole lot about them. But I would like an aluminum frame and a “thocky” sound. Not sure if this is enough information to go by haha
i dont know what thocky means so realforce maybe
topre is what started the whole thocky thing anyway so get that
I'll probably get crucified for this but I really like my RK84
Especially now that I've put Gateron SIlvers in it
it looks like a keyboard
atleast i dont need to hack the whole os to download an app
Nah homie, WKL just looks better
The Keychron Q series may be worth looking at.
you don't need to download shit for a custom keyboard nowadays
Stupid ass he ment that linux is better
no, they just prefer winkeyless layout lol
Ew
I dont like wkl
I like 60% keyboards
Too bad my huntsman mini broke
Wharlt is a good fast and nice gaming keyboard?
No you’re both just idiots and misunderstood each other
And?
Aliexpress CHOICE have kang whites 70pcs for 16$ for anyone looking for a deal
Who cares
Im just letting people know on a deal
yeah and no one cares
why do you even care ? just ignore it and stop insulting people 😄
damn you must have a sad life
am I insulting you though?
I didnt say me
idk I have a pretty good life
who are you do decide how it is based on how I interact here
surely 🙂
indeed
17 dollar shit is still shit, just cheaper than it was before

geez sooo toxic
I love it, this is awesome 😄
Apparently helping people that want to save by providing a tip on a deal is a ´´ shit deal, noone cares and the switches suck´´

Thats sad if you think that
Not everyone wants to spend a fortune on expensive or hard to get switches, KTT is a great option and a couple of bucks saved here can help someone towards a different thing
Yes some of them are but none sounding as good
Who ?
asked ?

💀5th grader humor
very appropriate for 5th grader toxicity
im not saying theyre awesome 😄
theyre good for the price and some people like to save
I would say there are other options for similar prices that are better.
like ?
Jerrzi
70pcs for 17usd there are better options ?
Yes
which color ?
https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256805350828206.html not Jerrzi, but these are better than KTT for 3 dollars cheaper
Purple
tactile ?
Alright
https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256805364022992.html maybe you weren’t looking enough, I found these in 2 minutes
Nearly half price of kang whites
CIY switches have pretty damn good prelube
No
is there a sound test of them anywhere ?
KTT manufactures Akko switches, not CIY
On my side theyre 17 for 70
That won’t tell you anything about a switch tbh
Yup
I know
Yeah
Fuck I hate KTT Switches
I think I either scrapped or got ride of my KTT Rose switches
Can't remember
Nah I scalped their stems
this amount of rgb is unholy
Someone with a Halo - are the RGB north or south?
Edit - I think they're North facing (which is what I'm used to yay) - Looking at a bunch of videos and the interior of the board, seems so.

-north
Saw the LED shinethrough holes on the cutouts inside the halo on the product page
Guess it's not worth mentionning on the product specifications on their site for some reason XD
yeah the keycaps are not cherry profile so i dont think they care about that
Hello I'm new to the keyboard scene I was wondering if anyone had any cream switches they can reccomend. I'm looking for something with a creamy thocky yummy oh so crummy creamy oh so dream GLACKY switches that make you go BOOMBOOM (gotaa get get) BOOM BOOM (Gotta get get) boom boom POW them chickens jacking my style schlurpy and thocky sound profile
Realforce
damn

Dream Creams from NK
Had some problems with my 2 g915s and was thinking of replacing it with a deathstalker v2, ornata v3, or keychron k series

Akko w/ ASA "Dark Olivia"

Just put the actual dark Olivia caps on it, probably costs as much as you bought that board for
Yeah I imagine
Pink gang let's go
damnnn
that looks great
the Akko needed some tuning on the stabs but otherwise sounds amazing for 50usd
Ya the acr pro series are great
I'm happy with my daskeyboard
i throw them in the washer
short cycle low temp
two drops of soap
only low rotations
oh god wk blocker
It's integrated into the top case
youre saying that its MADE to look like that?
thats arguably worse
also not tsangan
shouldve got a realforce

is this a 5-pin socket ? i'm not very sure and i'm probably going to build a keyboard and i don't wanna get it wrong
Unboxing of the zoom75 p1 and my keycaps. P2 comes when my switches arrive

Tis a 5 pin
You love isabell
mine arrives later this month 😭
ok guys I have a really strange issue with my new hyperx alloy origins keyboard. whenever I press the 4th key of any row, e.g: 4 or r or f or c(?) it instead pastes the whole row of keys (so pressing r would instead paste iopuy[qwert) anyone know a fix?
btw this just started happening randomly, the keyboard was working perfectly for weeks
dead pcb, get realforce
the ideal solution for everything really
my brain just commited self-killing (i can't say suic---)
Update on the free Anne Pro 2, wasn’t working unplugged so I took it apart today and there was moisture damage on a few spots, so I soaked it in iso and lightly scrubbed it down, Bluetooth now works and the battery holds a charge
say there friends/enemies/acquaintances in the #peripherals channel -- was reading online that the best option for a key that's randomly repeating (currently having interspersed, random doubling of my space bar presses in between words in sentences sometimes, as well as it making it's way in between some letters weirdly), is to drop a little drop of high percentage isopropyl alcohol (like 91%) or ethanol underneath the switch into the area where the pins go in, and then let it dry out over the next day or so
anyone have any experience with this? i'm assuming it's likely due to some kind of small debris/dirt that got in there and is causing this annoyance
Unsolder and change the switch
Best solution
can anyone suggest me some good RGB keyboard with different breathing effects under 18usd (1500rs) from amazon.in? there should be atleast more than 3 breathing effects.
wired is preferred for cheaper prices
good
RGB
cheap
pick two
Nice. I splurged on air shipping even though iv got no real use for it till early 2024
RGB and cheap
im seeing the cosmic byte gk 17 , you can search it in amazon
cool 7 breathing effects
and it's 18usd
There's some cheap ones not from Amazon that are actually good but I think they are a bit over your budget
I can't even remember the name of the company
Oh royal kludge
I’m sorry everyone
Update: I took all the key caps off, wash them, completely clean the keyboard, base and switches, gave the ltt mousepad a bath and we’re good fuck I’m so relived

you gonna have to give a lot more than that chief
whats cheap and expensive to you
have you used mechanical keyboards before? Do you have a preference for switch type?
do you want a G A M E R keyboard with rgb and "gamer features" like a million macro keys or do you want something with real solid build quality? do you care about sound?
are you willing to build something yourself or do you want a single purchase and done
i care about SPEED i want it to be super responsive and fast and i prefer either brown or blue switches since thats the one ive used to work with before my keyboard decides to go kaboom and i also want it to be durable without any macro keys and i want it to be either 65 or 60% and my limit is 100$
No i dont want to build it my self i want just a ready keyboard like a razer or something
or ducky idk
also i dont want it to be TOO loud but i like having sound
and rgb too
@gusty ridge
just wait on a wooting
model?
nvm i missed the 100
breh
@dusty remnant what about a razer or logitech or steelseries and shit like that
i mean… nah still tho if that’s all you care about is having the best “Gaming” keeb. i mean steelseries and razor have competitive offering but for under 100 it’s hard to find a decent mech
not too expensive but good
what would u recommend
tbh… waiting and spending more if it was me. but i do understand budgets. ig the apex 9 is on sale at best buy
what about a razer huntsman mini?
i personally used a $20 membrane for two months, huntsman is good but is it under 100
yea the mini is bet
get that
huntsman mini OPTICAL
is it worth it?
at the price point it’s prolly your best bet rn
esp that refurb one for 60 on amazon
have you used optical switches?
if you want speed then yeah, wooting 60HE
i would stick with mechs for now then, personally. but they are “faster” so go for it
too expensiveeee
and hard to find in stock
wootings doing this shit where essentially an analog keyboard instead of switches
watch any video on it
also i heard about lubing should i lube my huntsman mini when it comes?
or try to mod it?
i see
you can customize the activation and release points to whatever you want
how
software
which one
can i do it with my tonado mini zeroground?
you can say, set WASD to trigger when you press the key down 1mm, and reset when you let up even 0.1mm, no matter where you are in the travel
which software
it makes it objectively the most responsive keyboard on the market
thats a wooting only thing because of how they're made
thats why i recommend it if you care about speed
are we talking about the wooting?
i am
yes
if you want a good keyboard then you save more than a hundred bucks.
well i just want something ready that doesnt need alot of shit to setup and customize
like plug and play
also does razer have tactile switches?
i see only clicky and linear
i hate linears
my current keyboard is linear and i hate it
its my brothers cuz he doesnt use it
i thought i hated linears too until i built and lubed my own setup and experienced actual smooth linears
any hotswap board will allow you to switch ya switches later
now i can't go back
easily that is, without soldering
i dont want to risk fucking my keyboard
plus
i dont want to switch switches
cuz its a pain in the ass sometimes
razer sells a bunch of different boards with all different kinds of switches, you'd have to look through their shop
i've had nothing but terrible experiences with razers QC over the years, i avoid them like the plague for all purchases in any category
im buying them trough the greek amazon lets call it like that
ok then check what razer sells and if you see a model in your price range search for it on greek amazon

i saw the razer huntsman mini and the v2
v2 to expensive and mini idk if its worth it
also should i lube my huntsman mini if i get it?
or mod it?
what lube to use and stuff
" sorry for questions "
if options are limited then pulling and replacing your switches may be your best bet for what you want. also if you wanted to lube them it would require the same amount of work plus lubing them.
lube like the switch from the outside
i saw someone doing it
it just takes some time but its not risky
do you know what goes into lubing your own switches? you say you dont want to mess with hotswap but lubing it would involve removing all of your keycaps, removing the switches from the board, and breaking open every switch and hand lubing them
its not really worth it if you aren't actually going to open them up and lube em properly
and at that point you should get something more modular
no i mean lube the part that goes in and out that attaches to the key cap
under the keycaps
theres a thingy that has the color on it
lets say red switches have a red part
but like… switches are way more durable than you think
lube the red part
for sound
yes the switch stem, you can't actually access the parts that have friction unless you disassemble them
unless you want to just drown them in like a very non viscous oil, which i would not recommend
then i wont bother
just get pre lubed ones and throw them in, a lot of boards are sold barebones for this reason. just pop them in it takes maybe 5 minutes the first time
are you specifically looking for a 60% board, i know you selected the hunstman mini i think thats what that one is
(no F keys)
is the huntsman mini hot swappable?
yes
it has F keys but with the fn button
The V4 is a fully customizable mechanical keyboard suitable for different scenarios. It’s an entry-level custom keyboard with a mini 60% layout, QMK/VIA support, an acoustic silicone pad, and double-shot PBT keycaps to provide you with a great typing feel and endless possibilities.
if keychron ships to you one of their budget boards would probably be a better buy than a hunstman TBH
the barebones is only about 50 bucks, and then you could put whatever switches and keycaps in that you wanted. Fully assembled ones from them are cheap as well
you put the switch in the hole, it literally goes one way, and then you put the keycap on the switch
there are about a billion videos on the topic
oh i see
yes its literally just sticking them in, these boards come with hotswap PCBs, so the switches just slot into place on the board by hand
how much does the switches cost
thats entirely up to you
oh
you can get cheapos or high end stuff, even factory lubed, which has gotten better recently, if you aren't up for doing it yourself

i would say
anywhere from 30-70 bucks would be a good range depending on how fancy you feel
alr
if you want some cheap but good ones try KTT or Akko
kinda funny, i think he’s starting to get why 100 is insanely cheap for a fully built mech

yeah
There is the case, then the switches, keycaps etc etc

Alternatively you just buy a prebuilt set
just spend 400 dollars on your case and PCB ez
this is the way.
yeah wanted to ask

i wish i had bought the brass bottom before they discontinued it
my board is not heavy enough
i could only kill 3 children with a single swing
i need to be at 5+
even titanium is possible but its light
titanium frame keyboard for the memes
all the premium metals are light haha
i wanna get those stupid heavy tungsten dice sets for d&d
but its nearly a grand for a set
its hard to work with too which is why the price goes up a lot on crafted things, idk what the actual price of tungsten is but it might be slightly more reasonable if someone was just including a premium weight block in a mechanical keyboard build
nah but if i bought ingots if they're small enough i could totally drill out holes in my keyboard chassis and put them in
yeah
on the site its 40g ingots
and you get 25 of them
Thats legit possible
a kilo of tungsten must weigh like 40 kilos
💀
the ingots are 6mm on their thinnest diameter
fuck
this would totally work
i REALLY wanna do it
it would be inside the keyboard who cares
hello i am trying to make a keyboard for £300 what stuff can i buy that is good and fits in the budget
@gusty ridge ok so apperently theres no good reviews about the clicky version of the huntsman mini so i was thinkg of linear
pls i need help
hey i got a question, im going to be converting a pcb to hotswap, and i want to be able to swap between full size and short switches, however from what ive seen hotswap connecters that kaihil sells seem to be either short or full, do the short also work for the fulls from what anyone knows? or anything to be used for both?
looking for a case and some claim anodized vs e-coating? what are the differences?
https://youtu.be/5YIANzX2SB8?feature=shared (actual answer about $10)
Minnesota Industrial Coatings is a powder and e-coat facility! Curt Wilson briefly explains what e-coating is and how it is beneficial. He then goes into greater detail on the e-coat process used at Minnesota Industrial Coatings!
I want to get a new keyboard and mouse for a total of around $60, anything would be better than what I have rn
does anybody have any recommendations?
I usually play valorant
anyone alive?
if the budget is way too low then tell me a more reasonable range and what to buy
i would honestly opt more for a pricier mouse opposed to a keyboard, esp if playing valo. you want a solid mouse
and then also a realforce mouse
ok
the problem is that idk what to get
this thing is awesome actually
idk what keyboard and mouse is at that price point and still good
logitech g203's are good mice too
theyre super expensive..
Realforce mouse isn’t worth it
what do you think i should get
but the problem is that its super expensive
Darmoshark m3
I recently built my first custom so I don't really know much about this, but I got my switches pre lubed so I don't have anything to lube my stabilizers. my friend recommended me krytox 205g0 but that would cost me $30 CAD just to lube my stabilizers. i found this $17 kit that comes with some tools. which one should i get?
or is it just not worth it to get just for stabilizers?
you can lube stabs and switches with 205
yeah but does it matter which brand i get?
im just worried im going to get like some cheap stuff
You want to make sure it’s genuine Miller Stephenson 205g0
what does that mean?
That’s who makes krytox 205g0
ah
i always thought dupont makes them
I want to make a couple custom cables. Does anyone know where I could source some lit USB cable wiring like these? I would want to buy some meters of it
Razer Deathadder V3 wired, very good for the price
If you main claw grip
can do 8000hz polling if you’re into that without adapters etc
and has everything the wireless version has except wireless connectivity and another paywall for lower 4000hz polling
$70 USD on Amazon
💀 what kinda third world country machine is that
why tf is it hand operated
I am just astonished how antique that machine is
that is comparable to the ones I have seen in china and poorer asian countries
(oh and japan as well ig)
dude all you do is dunk the part in paint water and run a current through it
its magic
buy a realforce
guys i was told that i shouldnt get any gaming keyboard nad instead save money to buy the wooting 60HE
What are some good quality but reasonable priced mechanical keyboards? I wanna get one for home and office use etc - budget: 100 euros or less
it's not going to magically make you 2x better
i never said that it would make me better...
budget?
its currently regarded by many as being the best
100 euros or less
keychron?
I looked at their site, they also got a sale right now, majority if not all their stuff are sold out xD
what should i get for fps -esport
wooting
SOMETHING NOT SO EXPENSIVE
have you checked your local sites?
where you from?
if you want the best you gotta pay
i dont want the best i want something good
but not so expensive
well
100$ is max
Netherlands
ill dm you
rgb and i want it to be TKL
apex tkl?
or just a regular keychron
or some Akko board
i would like a razer or corsair or steelseries
yeah steelseries apex tkl
anything in razer?
name?
a used realforce is cheaper
what about the huntsman mini

yeah if you want but there are better boards
from other brands
the apex pro is 200$
razer
stfu
and increase their quality control, and actually make decent products
viper mini is on top
dont care
one of the worst apps
its so buggy for me
disgusting
sometimes it makes me regret getting a razer product but its not the products fault but the companys
corsair ICUE these days is cheff's kiss
never seen such a problem
this
corsair? what? their mice are great and so are their keyboards
my brother got the K95 and he cried for the waste
no LOL
source: been using an original M65 RGB and strafe RGB for 6 years
longevity is not the only factor in quality LMAO
this
there's literally nothing bad about them
can you stop
oh yea?
and their newer stuff is even better
explain why their stuff is good
legit rattle
other than oh it lasts long
you're surprised that a basic cherry switch rattles?
cherry mx does not rattle
no its the shit design of the base that its not placed properly
mx blue does but that is inherent to clickjacket
so what keyboard should i get?
my strafe is sold af, the only noise from shaking it is the (very used) switches rattling around
with a limit of 100$
i saw a brand new keyboard rattle wdym
what keyboard?
corsair k95
i saw the huntsman mini BLUE SWITCHES rattles too
but the red version does not
yet the huntsman doesnt have the best build quality but its still a good one
which k95? there's been a million at this point
so the newer one?
well that is literally what quality means
the features are also pretty good on them. well, not so great on my strafe since it's ancient, but my M65 is great, and the newer stuff is pretty damn great too
and to top it off, software that doesn't make you want to throw it at the wall
shut
wired?
and mechanical switches if not optical
sctratch that question, it's your only choice under 100
modern corsair, TKL, optical switches, and exactly $100
https://www.corsair.com/us/en/p/keyboards/ch-911d01a-na/k60-pro-tkl-rgb-tenkeyless-optical-mechanical-gaming-keyboard-corsair-opx-switch-na
no?
keyfeel, keycaps, software
weight, shape, clicks
don't give an opinion on something you don't understand fully
its 150 to my place
sucks to be you then.
so anything else?
i live in greece currently so yea
plus shipping is only available in the US on that keyboard
not everyone is deep down the rabit hole of keyboards. the general person doesn't care much beyond the basic switch types
corsair keyboards feel good. my basic bitch MX-browns are good
while I don't own the newer stuff, I know people that do, and I've used them, they're great.
that doesn't disqualify the metric I mentioned as indicators of quality
can u guys stop fucking arguing
deciding something is good quality based on what you use is ignorance
for the love of god
@late zinc so what do i get since the corsair keyboard is way more expensive too my place
what backwards world do you live in?
deciding something is quality because you've used it and find that it is quality, is exactly how it fucking works
ignoring the weird membrane keyboards they've done, corsair is very consistent across the board (pun not intended)
....
idk, go look at your local stores, I ain't Romanian and your budget is low
greek*
sorry
its opinion, not fact that its good
don't be fucking pedantic
"excessively concerned with minor details or rules; overscrupulous."
omitting major factors like keyfeel, keycaps and build are minor details
mouse weight shape and clicks are minor details?
you need to look at yourself in the mirror lmao
maybe go out once in a while too
you can be wrong at times
i know its hard to swallow
but it is life
absolutely typing up a storm there, im expecting a 20 page essay
I've literally explained all those factors throughout the convo you utter clown
keyfeel is majorly subjective, and can really only be opinion, and as I've said, they feel fine. it's just plain ol' cherry keys (unless you go for corsair opticals)
and most, if not all, of their models generally have multiple key options
you can keep waiting i think
sorry, typing on a shitty laptop keyboard
this dude came here before acting like an authority like your typical techbro
can't out argue these clowns and their world ending egos
they asked for a recommendation? what else am I going to do other than recommend things that I've found, within my experiences, to be good?
you're looking into this way too hard mate
ever thought just maybe since, you aren't too deep into the topic maybe your opinions might not be valid?
its good to be humble and self aware
you don't have to be a fucking keyboard geek to recommend something you've found to be good to someone that also isn't a keyboard geek
yeah you can recommend it
but don't be surprised when other more knowledgeable people rightfully dunk on your dogwater opinion

you've yet to recommend anything to them, or give any actual reasons on why my recommendation wouldn't be good
so pop off
I gotta go to sleep lol
uhhh realforce
will i see a big diffirence between a mechanical and an optical keyboard?
No
i am between the razer huntsman mini and the hyperX alloy origins core
what do i go for
not at your price point
i am between the razer huntsman mini and the hyperX alloy origins core
what do i go for
I have no experience with those specific boards ¯_(ツ)_/¯
or any experience with hyperX at all
oof
any life hacks for finding keycaps for 60% layout that have secondary legend for arrow keys?
currently running wooting 60he and am looking for new build
i would do huntsman, i went from black widow to ducky to anne pro 2 to wooting
anne pro 2 is prob best i've had, jus switched to wooting and in the process of customizing rn so haven't used it a ton but the actuation point feature for the lekker switches is pretty nice
Anything
For most people keyboards have negligible impact in setups above a certain point
what is best keyboard for £300
Guys can somebody send me silent gaming keyboard for around 30-45 euros
rk61
thats extremely subjective
maybe a Mode Envoy ?
or Mode Sonnet
what is the most quietest switches to use for a mechanical keyboard?
silent version of linears
any specific ones to look at?
Neither
Get a keychron v series
Razer and hyperX are much much worse than a keychron
i want something ready
plug-n-play
fast and responsive
razer has 8k polling rate AND optical switches
keychron has 1k polling rate with mechanical switches
Opticals aren't really any diff than mechanicals in terms of how fast to actuate.
Also if you need opticals iirc keychron makes optical boards
or at least optical switches
Still why no razer and why get tge keychron
Keychron is ready
Yes but Why get it
Keychron has: Better switches
Better firmware
Yes but uglier keycaps
Qmk on top
then swap em out
Better qual keycaps
Alright, go with the razer, but keychron has a lot of advantages compared to it
LIKE
Better firmware
BRB
Better quality case, Hotswappable, Screw in stabs, programmable knob, QMK/VIA support, Easier to dissasemble, Doesn't sound like shit, and anyways on a mechanical keyboard 8k polling is so overkill lol
IMO razer is the dead last pick for me. But oh well, it's not my money to waste.
Razer is nice for people who love razer but otherwise gmbrothers is right
Go with Keychron
pls no one ever replies to me
wooting 60HE
its not 300$ but its one of the best keyboards out there
Any of the v series
huh?
lemem see
Keychron V3 (UK-ISO, DE-ISO, ES-ISO, FR-ISO, Nordic-ISO, SW-ISO) is a fully customized 80% layout compact mechanical keyboard packed with all premium features and endless possibilities. The V3 allows customizable capabilities for every key switch, keycap, knob, and stabilizer. It’s made for your personalized experience and a more comfortable typ...
The V4 is a fully customizable mechanical keyboard suitable for different scenarios. It’s an entry-level custom keyboard with a mini 60% layout, QMK/VIA support, an acoustic silicone pad, and double-shot PBT keycaps to provide you with a great typing feel and endless possibilities.
uhhh
thats back-lit rgb
Ok
like the rgb doesnt go through the keycap
That are shine through?
I gtg
i want pure black and good quality
Maybe someone else can guide you
ok
well
which one should i get
also
amazon shipping costs more that the product it self since i live in greece
same for aliexpress
or can i use my old keyboards keycaps?
si
so
aliexpress shipping is free
id suggest buying a keychron v1 and keycaps from aliexpress
if you have a keyboard with the appropriate keycap sizes you can use it
oh
i want the v3
the TKL
so will they fit?
also can u send me a link to the aliexpress keycaps
First impressions of invokeys blueberry chiffon switches: id rather browns
$30 for 100
Inspired by browns
Seemed good
Facts
I've gotta get a topre still, that real force r2 though still ass
Bro this bot flagged my message for all caps
Find me an all white pro 2 under 100
Maybe 150
All white hard to find
issat the snow one?
guys should i go for a keychron V3 or huntsman mini
Hello! Looking for a wireless, quiet, if at all possible gentle light keyboard. Need it to be quiet enough it won’t wake my sleeping wife, 7 feet away
Im looking for a mechanical number pad. Can be wired or wireless. I like the cherry brown switches in my steelseries so i would like a similar feel
I dont see many options aside from keychron
razer is overpriced and unless they've changed their boards arent hotswappable, their switches are crappy and loud in a bad way
tons of options out there, what kind of budget do you have is a better question
what size/style do you prefer? (i.e. do you want a 60, 65, 75%? TKL? full-sized? ) you want something that's already put together and ready to use? care about colors/design or rgb or any of that stuff? budget? i will post some options though one sec
I dont want to spend a ton. I know i could easily spend a lot but i would prefer to stay somewhere around the $50 mark
99% of quality keycaps don't have RGB which go through the keycaps, because most really good quality keycaps aren't ABS plastic, they are double-shot PBT or similar which means they won't have see-thru key legends unless they were a specialty job, it's pretty rare
Razer have one hotswap board as far as I know
But probably still not worth getting it
whoopsie
52.99 plus 10 dollar off coupon so 43 bucks
Oh, sorry, im looking for just a numeric pad
oh shit my bad i replied to the wrong person lol
No worries
Keychron have some I think
@smoky karma this is an option, you can also switch out the switches on this for something more to your liking but the RK silent red switches are pretty good especially for this price - pasting in previously sent message:
for 50 bucks there are some options out there, some cheaper decent mechnical keyboards that you can get, idk what size you are comfortable with but something like this board (if you are okay with 65% model) https://www.amazon.com/RK-ROYAL-KLUDGE-Stand-Alone-Hot-Swappable/dp/B08G52MB1J/ 52.99 - $10 off coupon = 43 bucks
word, i got you, one second lemme pull up my little bookmarks thing in raindrop
Keychron Q0
do you want ones with knobs and stuff on them?
i'm a fan of knobs and different rotary controllers and stuff like that so i have a lot of them bookmarked that have that kind of thing
Not necessarily. I was looking for at least the basic number pad keys
But nobs could be useful
My tkl has a little rolly thing
one of those horizontal rolly bars
Yeah
yah royal kludge puts those on a few of their boards
Cool bits are aleays a plus but not required
alright here are a few of the links i have, one sec
these are kinda fancy some of them
that one is like 50 bucks
oh yah do you want wired or wireless or dont care
Either is fine
https://www.etsy.com/listing/1337326153/mini-hot-swappable-numpad-with-switches this store i have bought from before, hey make good stuff, lemme send some amazon links tho i know some people dislike etsy
I saw that one, i thought it was kinda neat, they have a build your own kit too
https://www.amazon.com/Kisnt-Mechanical-Standard-Numeric-Keyboards/dp/B0BPMGKJXT these have different switches you can pick but they arent swappable
yah i own this thing from that store on etsy -- https://www.etsy.com/listing/1327299571/megalodon-doio-triple-knob-macropad
Thats more for macros, yes?
highly recommended, takes a min to get used to the little bit different layout if you are muscle memoried to the traditional numpad
yah
they have different versions of it though
https://www.etsy.com/listing/1521102429/megalodon-19-numpad-macropad-designers -- this is the one i meant to send
yah worldofkeebs store is good, have bought one of those megalodons from them and a few friends have as well, was turned on to their stuff from a youtuber i know
https://www.etsy.com/listing/1503135827/original-design-wireless-transparent these are pretty cool too
The clear plastic is interesting
it's hit or miss, on some of the designs its okay imo, i like the one on the bottom r ight the most
https://www.etsy.com/listing/1241174761/acrylic-programmable-knob-numeric-wired this thing is wild too
That looks fuckin rad
the feker JJK-21 is another good pad
they have it in kit form and with finished ones, depending on where they are selling it
i kind of like that style personally
old school vibe
Very classy
What about something like this? https://drop.com/buy/magicforce-21-key-mechanical-numpad-v2?defaultSelectionIds=966504
yah that looks alright too, long as it's ready to ship (which it is)
idk if thats wired only looks like it
looks pretty sleek though from t he side, has a bit of the clear plastic thing oto, plus you can swap the keycaps and switches
actually you may not be able to swap the switches, i think they are soldered in
Im still new to the mech thing, not too worried about swapping switches
yah, they are, no rgb but white leds, idk if thats a deal breaker
true, personally i think it is better to have the option if it's available
people say its an addictive hobby for a reason haha
i have one of these lol https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71r3ktfakgL._AC_SL1500_.jpg
sits around basically collecting dust
should've done more research before learning the hard way that the little thumb controller is not an actual analog stick but a D-pad
and yeah the options are definitely endless
there's a few 'name brands' which more or less have pretty good stuff for consumer quality, ready to use mechanical keyboards - keychron, akko/epomaker/feker (the same company uses a few different names), royal kludge
Im assuming most of the differences will be aesthetics since they are all using the same cherry/gateron switches?
ooh this is sweet, i had no idea 8bitdo made a mechanical keyboard
https://www.amazon.com/Mechanical-Keyboard-Bluetooth-Swappable-Programmable-PC/dp/B0CCP8KYGG/
for the most part yeah. if you have the option to get something that has hot-swappable switches go for it, same with QMK/VIA support so you can program it if it has any macro keys or knobs or anything
Sorry for such a long delay. I use full size as I prefer the num pad, I use it a lot for work
omg i need this
https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71yE77UAvxL._SL1500_.jpg
has a big ass 2 button thing, the famicon version is even sweeter
Those red keys are super nice
Get that
ok thank you
is this thing legit from royal kludge (not rk98)
I cant find this on their official website
yah it's pretty good, its on amazon that one
i was going to recommend this model actually to @smoky karma but it's a bit more expensive than he was wanting to spend, nice board tho
rgb effects on the side are slick and RK's self branded switches are surprisingly good, other than keychron they are probably my favorite manufacturer of affordable, high quality premade boards
would you recommend that or the rk98
definitely the r98, the price they have that for on mechkeys is a good deal imho
thanks

What's a good mouse to pair with the Steelseries Apex 3 keyboard? I think the steel series rival 310 has been phased out but the 500 model doesn't have rubber grips
do gmk make backlit keycaps?
ooh these are slick af
what you mean backlit, like see thru for rgb? they aren't that common to find high quality doubleshot pbt with see thru legends
you have to specifically seek them out and the choices are still pretty limited
if you dont mind using ABS keycaps you have more choices but ppl tend to shy away from them as they attract a lot more oils and fingerprints/shine
https://www.amazon.com/DROP-Keysterine-Transparent-Compatible-Full-Size/dp/B0B5BDBP18 these are some for example
FRESH NOSTALGIA AT YOUR FINGERTIPS: Your keycaps don’t have to cover up the most brilliant parts of your keyboard. With the Drop Keysterine Keycap Set, you can let your setup shine. MiTo-designed and made with colorized transparent ABS, these revealing caps take their cues from the youthful elect...
https://shop.tai-hao.com/categories/backlit-keycaps this should prove helpful
i woudl also take a look on etsy, it's where i try to go for anything other than base-level keyboard stuff, lot of great options/sellers on there
aliexpress has a million backlit sets just search there
aliexpress is full of a lot of dogshit stuff that barely resembles the photos half of the time
well theyre all cheap so youre getting what you paid for
etsy has gems on there still, you just have to put in the effort to dig thru and find the places that are actually still run by people and not just some guy dropshipping things, it's definitely gone downhill big time in the last few years, particularly over the past year or so (for certain things it's basically unusable at this point)
Thank you everyone! Your suggestions were all very helpful!
guys is it worth the hassle to upgrade the wooting case
It’s not a hassle even
ayo i need help
when i press my left shift key.. all these keys are pressed automatically
i have a cosmic byte mechanical keyboard
is anyone on?
they're also the one that couldn't plug in a 24 pin properly
and was calling starfield bad with zero playtime experience
they will not help you here only insult you
i would suggest asking in official server
you will a faster response there
i would help but i am not familiar with it
i had similar problem it was an issue with drivers
i would suggest you reinstall drivers or windows if that does not help
don't take advice from a fool that couldn't plug in a 24 pin properly
Have you tried it on another pc ?
Blud is still coping hard
yo is this decent: https://www.amazon.com/K6-RGB-Backlight-Red-Switch/dp/B07ZT61LTZ/ref=as_li_ss_tl?tag=switchclick-20&th=1
Well if you love RGB just note that the keycaps are opaque
none of it will shine through them
hmm interesting
so if any modding isn’t on your bucket list selecting that option is technically a scam
though you can just buy prism caps, install and call it a day
Mostly for the durability of PBT
yeah am thinking of replacing the keycaps
And so the legends are visible without backlight
Don’t use it for competitive gaming (but if you are going to don’t do it over Bluetooth)
Anything else like single player RPGs are fine
That said if you like using macros you might want to check out their K pro range, since that has VIA software support
@unique hatch
Thanks for the advice! I just bought it
any suggestions for the keycaps? I am a noobie to keyboards
Welp fancy stuff comes from GMK
All the goated media posts with cool looking caps are likely GMK
even more expensive would be the ones with little figurines attached to them (artisan keycaps I think they’re called)
Artisans are cheaper than a full keycaps set, but the golden price of artisans are $80-$120
^^
Keychron ships with great ones, perhaps use those for a bit then see what you want to be dif
some people just use blank keycaps with no legends to learn touch typing so the dark doesn’t become an issue
hmm will think about it
damn, thats double the price of my future keyboard
Keyboard get expensive my guy, it's like putting tires on a car. You can go cheap and play quality, or go expensive and top tier
Speaking of which some cool caps that are technically blank would be the GMK Dots
haha I like that analogy
Gmk dots is cool, if I'm going blanks I'm going POM Jelly
oh wow that looks cool
And to stop myself being lazy once I can work I’ll probably get myself a lord of the rings keycap set
Only lettering that’s there would be in the Elf tongue
lol, that sounds amazing
Until you want to buy gafs, kwks, or any older artisans then you spend thousands for a single artisan

Are people actually still buying those?
Yikes man. I don't know enough about artisans to know what the older ones are like
I just base the current market off what Dwarf factory has been selling fro the last year or so
yeah lol I mean all the higher end artisan makers are rigged anyways
I'd imagine so
rama caps >
I did just pick up one of these guys, looks dope ngl. But group buys, ugh
