@urban panther The v1
i'd get brown (tactile), personally
but if you want linear, get the reds
i'd advise against blues
Thx all
I'd get the barebones kit and build it
^
i'd also reocmmend that
but if you get the pre-assembled, at least its full hot swap so modding down the line is relatively simple
They must embrace the scratch
majik keebord
any update on astolfo keyboard
Doug
There's an Astolfo keyboard?
Hello, I'm wondering, is there people's that still have an IBM model m, or equally old keyboards, that like got from their fathers or whatever ? That still uses it, it's to win a debate (please) if you have one, can you send a picture of it, so I can settle that even if a keyboard is from 1985, it's still good today
Also please ping me
no, just wondering if theres an update on one being made
Very very niche market, to my knowledge no
i want a $100 coiled wired astolfo themed keyboard
it would match my pink table
$100 means it would need to be mass produced. There aren't enough people looking for one to justify that
ill mass buy them
spares for when i rage
$100 turned into $100,000 real quick
yeah, meaning they'll make more of them
meaning i can buy more
it'll match nicely with my astolfo butt mouse pad
try making a astolfo themed keyboard
what would that even entail?
I have a little issue i never thought was possible on a keyboard
I sometimes have input delay
Like second long input delay
run a gb 😊
is it bluetooth
It uses a reciever
It's a logitech keyboaes
*keyboard
and you are sure you have it connected over the receiver and not over bluetooth?
yes
i have the feeling something might be interfereing with the connection between the reciever and the keyboard
got anything that could introduce 2.4hz interference?
and how far is the dongle from the keyboard
Phone
like not a router/ap right besides it or anything
No
for their gaming stuff logitech recommends using the extension cord with the adapter
to get the dongle as close as possible to the board
Is the dongle plugged in a USB 3.0 port ?
do people really like small keyboards
Define small ...
I like 40% keyboards
They look nice
60% is way too small
preference
ah yes
because everybody needs to do accounting at home
all the time
and requires a numpad on their desk at all times
This board is hot, don't be rude
whats a gb
you dont need a numpad considering theres already numbers
group buys
i always prefer bottom, in keyboards of course
start CNCing
starting googling
i did, but no sign of astolfo keyboard
just mouse pads
including a butt mouse pad on amazon
i dont know how to diy
then youre sol
ok
if i ever start making keyboards, then im making a astolfo one
ok gl
I mean they do for some people
My dad needs his numberpad
He grew up with it
He also types in a lot of product names which have lots of numbers in them
I smashed my keyboard because someone beat my record in val
you need more than a keyboard
Oh golly gee willikers
Imagine getting so angry at a video game that you smash your keyboard
For real
96 is great, its full size but doesent take up that much space
There really is no benefit to getting a 96 over a full size
You save what, less than an inch of space
Yeah
keyboards that have the thing where when you press down like 40% on w in driving games you get 40% throttle are those types of keyboards generally expensive i thinking of buying a new keyboard but dont want to spend hundreds of pounds on it because i think that would be a waste of money
Those are analog keyboards
Nope, cheapest you'd go is the Wooting two HE
And that's in preorder for $200
Analog gaming keyboard in general are kinda
Scarce
damn i guess instead of getting one of those ill just buy a controller for driving games
i still would need a new keyboard tho because mine is made by microsoft and is ancient
Get a keychron v series
Newly built
all of the Get a keychron v series looks hella ugly
whats the point of the red keys they looks so out of place
get the barebones?
for real
wont i have to buy keycaps and switches for that lol
any reccomendation on ones that are all black?
bow
don’t you mean wob
what
by a punching bag
and hang it by your pc
prebuilt ones have a certain style yes
most people put other keycaps on them
eh
yo guys do you have keyboard recommendations
I want a mechanical keyboard that isn't loud
currently have an old dell office keyboard, which I've had for about a decade
Just clean it
what
get a razor keyboard
get over price keyboard with good sound
I have never heard a good sounding razer keyboard
Keychron v series with silent switches and whatever keycaps you want.
Or just a keychron v series
My dad owns one of their prebuilts
Pretty silent compared to most of my builds imo
While not a silent switch but instead relatively quiet, I’ve loved the Aqua King V2s on my Q5. On a V series it’ll just sound better/deeper.
i have a redragon k630 for £40 thats not great stock but i spent £14 on akko cream yellow v3 and like £7 on lube and it sounds a lot better
what the hell is akko cream yellow v3 lol
its a switch
the keyboard its self is hot swap so u can yank out the switch and put a new one in
Silenced realforce
I can’t wait until I get my keyboard
A Corsair one I think
cool
This one
Tharble

mechanical gaming 😎
any updates on a astolfo themed keyboard
stickers are pretty nifty
I hope not
i want one of either one of those 3
i love those 3 characters
or vergil
vergil themed keyboard would be cool
oh
If you want to further silence whatever board you buy, I'd strongly recommend filling the case with some memory foam from a memory foam pillow!
My dude you’re either gonna have to diy or you’re most likely never gonna come across a astolfo keyboard
I have a hot swappable keyboard from keycrhon my "d" key was not getting registered every time I pressed it, was noticing mostly while gaming, will swapping the key out and replacing it with a switch from a key which press much less frequenlty like page down fix the issue?
Yeah
neco arc solos
I know y'all mocked me for buying a full size keyboard, but I love my new Glorious GMMK full size keyboardddd. It's so CLACKY and so METAL. I can never use a plastic keyboard againnnn
ok
ok
clackathrock
Is mechanical keyboard better than normal keyboard?
isn't the bottom plastic
Can anyone look into my question?
depends on what you want
keyboards are all preference really so if you know what you want it to feel/look/sound like it'll help narrow it down
guys I have to ask, what is your opinion on reDragon peripherals, they are something of a cheap budget brand but they do look good
Like they look legit, not just wish.com quality
They’re fine
I was looking at some keyboards and saw this one: DEVARAJAS K556
I've looked at the product page and saw that it has brown or red switches
which do you think are better, I think I would enjoy the brown swithces, but I haven't tried either
waiting patiently for the Keychron Q4 CARBON BLACK to come back into stock 😐😐😐😐😐😐😐
Psaudio 💀
how is the Razer Ornata V2 keyboard has anyone tried
g915 tkl clicky thoughts?
Just bought these lets see if there good
any update on a neco arc, astolfo, felix argyle, or vergil keyboard being made?
what would be a good midrange mechanical that has media controls, not too loud (doesnt have to be super quiet, just quiet enough not to be picked up by the mic as much) and is usable for a longer time? i dont care about side stuff like customizability, fancy turning controls, rgb or any of that stuff, just a bit of backlighting and quality.
that said, if the price stays the same i dont mind those additions but i dont wanna pay extra for an overpriced fashion statement.
planning to use it for gaming and typing, and the size doesnt matter much to me. can go without numpad.
if not a direct product recommendation, any hints as to what places youd research on keyboards, what price range to expect and what details to consider would be appreciated too. most stuff on youtube is about custom built, look and "sound", with what feels like a overgenerous pricetag for most.
for context, got a worn down microsoft sidewinder (fake mechanical) and after a few passes down and clean routines it changed a lot in sound and feel. wanting to buy something i can rely on for longer, maybe pass this one down to the next person without a budget
video recommendations are nice too
`i think maybe, but the rest isnt , including the keys
You’re most likely gonna have to pay a designer to design one of those keyboards
It’s a niche hobby and themed boards rarely happen for the wide market
I’m buying a Keychron v1 with kalith blueberry ice cream pro switches any key cap recommendations
Tharblin
Thanks
Better components won’t fix a ass circuit tho
hey im trying to find a new keyboard
I would like one with 62 keys
I want to do various tasks with it
Nah what you want is the ID80 Crystal sponsored by HipyoTHOCC
so i have got into custom keebs recently. else, why am i here? anywho i have my full sized keyboard my Keychron k6 pro. and main main which is a split kyria. but with bouncing between multiple devices where i sometimes need a physical connection (nas server, home assistant server, 3d print server, etc) im finding i may want to build a more basic keyboard. I thought about a nuphy because i think they have a dongle for wireless? point being i need to be able to hit DEL when booting which BT cant usually do. looking for suggestions for somewhere around a 12x4+thumbs.
low pro is ideal. prefer choc but mx is ok. full custom kit is a plus too. cheaper and can build myself.
under $100 is possible since this is basically something i would only use occasionally. i may still get a cheap logitech keeb with dongle. idk yet
i don’t think that’s how amps work
So the dac chip, digital and amp stage circuits are completely different?
burbrown dac chip inside iirc
Ye 2702 or something
still not too late to go r2r h
i haven’t heard the amp but i’m p sure it’s fully class a
So what you’re saying is you got someone to stick a whole new dac amp into the existing chassis?
So what is it now

i assume they switched op amps
Apparently the gain cell thingy is sealed
Probably cap and resistor swaps
Maybe a better pot
i’m j over here looking to sell my stuff and go for bliss and spring 3 both kte
Spend that money on some speakers tho
Upgrade to genelec eggs
with a metrum jade s r2r dac
U missing out
was gonna get genelec for my desk
the 8331s
no sub
might get a kef kc62 for living room
for room modes and stuff
my buchardts has two back firing woofers
sub bass isn’t really that much of an issue
Sub for the genelecs I mean
i don’t wanna stick a sub in my room somewhere though
i could also j keep my devialet phantom 2s
they go to like 23hz or sum
Try and demo an egg setup with subs first before deciding whether or not you can go without one
the experience center in london is very unresponsive lmao
Unlucky
whats a good white fullsized (not compact) keyboard for 222AUD
Is this channel for like building ur own keyboards and dat or is this like general keyboard stuff?
Aight so Bacisly I’m in need of a 60~ usd gaming keyboard with rgb, any recommendations?
Also linear switches I believe they’re called
Ye linear
Yall
I need a cheapass keyboard, like $35 of less levels of cheapass
Nothing special, like a single membrane thingy that everyone recommends?
if thats what you want sure
id say logitech sells the best quality ones
but whatever works ig
K120
or like the dell one
Where can I buy Keyboard parts? I have no idea where to start but I know exactly what I want in my head lol
This is a keyboard channel
I meant keybored
misstime
Ok
misstype
like a 60% brown/mocha and around $250-$300
well the lower the better lol
I dont even know what sites to look on
all g
Kbdfans is a good place to start, make sure its in stock not gb
A reasonably priced high-end Board would be geonworks frog mini
Please make sure to use this link to purchase Add-ons for combined delivery : https://geon.works/collections/frog-mini FROG MINI BAREBONE KIT by Geonworks SPECS - MOUNT : Tadpole mount , Top mount - TYPING ANGLE : 6˚ - FRONT HEIGHT : 16.5mm - MATERIAL : TOP,BOTTOM CASES - A6063-T6 : INNER, OUTER WEIGHTS - Brass : PLA
You will still need switches, caps, and stabilizers and pcb
Tx makes great stabs
thank you
not a lof of places anodize brown so that would be tough to find
if you want a really light shade of brown ig 7075 alu with clean ano could work ig?
you obv always have the option to cerakote
See our complete collection of Cerakote Coating products. Shop by product series, unique coating attributes or application types.
got a few options there that would be somewhat easy to get
clean your keycaps ffs
What are some underrated keyboards or brands with great value for money?
Doesnt have to have rgb or gimmicks, just backlight and not too loud
Media controls would be nice too
keychron v series or k pro series
was thinking about recommending leopold
but would make no sense to buy one of them when a v series is cheaper
The V3 is a fully customizable mechanical keyboard ready for any situation. It’s a great option to introduce you to the custom keyboard world. With its tenkeyless layout, QMK/VIA support, acoustic silicone pad, and double-shot PBT keycaps, the V3 is designed for ultra typing comfort and boost productivity.
stupid good value
Is the G915 overprized?
yes
they are not wireless
there aren't any low input delay keyboards that I would recommend
- kinda pointless, you need to recharge it anyways
and you don't move it around much
Didnt know 100€+ was good value, maybe im just out of touch with pricing
it's not 100€+ though
Tbf most pc parts are at that level but im just used to 50€ keyboards
yea and those 50€ keyboards prob have very shitty software at best
no reflashable firmware
no hotswap sockets
maybe if you are lucky actual support and not just amazon whatever
New keyboard
Small question if my keyboards backlight works, but if writing doesnt, what could of happend?
your switches are dead
or your pcb is also dead
if it doesnt function as a keyboard its broken
Its membrane
then your pcb is dead
Wierd because the only thing i did was wash this plastic thingy
But it was dry when i put it in
But then how backlight is working?
you didn't reassemble it properly
its really hard to break a membrane keyboard when cleaning it
Ok ima try to reassemble again
im more talking about 10 years ago or so. didnt expect inflation to take off that hard.
but tbf, my family tends to have a very low bar for "wasted money". they were suprised i recently paid 2k for my pc and display setup even though thats prolly still on the low end
when it comes to building a mid tier gaming pc
what is your guys experience with offbrand key switches? i hear everyone praising cherries but i doubt they can be that unbeatable... can they?
eh
depends on use case
for most people cherries won't be the best option
if you are ready to mod your switches they can be though
do you mean most active pc users or normie office workers included
yes
._.
like the people that cherry switches are good for is custom keyboard enthusiasts
and not really anyone else
Yeah unless you wanna break in and everything
nah
what makes them different for modding? isnt it all about feel and maybe sound?
Well that helps ig
Yeah
mainly sound
no other switch really matches them in that regard
Yeah
so if you want that specific sound signature there is no other way
there are other good options though
gateron milkies for example
ah, i never really understood the focus on sound bc in most cases the keyboard is a tool for me, not the main event. but ive been using a "membrane mechanical" keyboard for almost all my life, and before that mostly cheap office ones and flat laptop ones
if you just want a switch that is good ootb gateron pros are prob hard to beat rn
which is fine, just means that it is prob not for you
maybe i have yet to break my keyboard virginity and learn the wonders of a good keyboard both in feel and sound
I can tell you it is cheaper to not get into custom keyboards
i know that even though i overspent on my screen i love how both colorful and bright it is, which i couldnt imagine without experienceing
yeah thats why i asked here in the first place
like I am easily in the thousands for keyboards by now
but arent cherries a standard in high end prebuilts as well?
(the non customizable ones are called prebuilts right)
I mean they can be customizable
but they are intended to be left as is for most people
the keychrons are in a weird situation
since they are prebuilts
but you can also buy them barebone
a lot of keyboard stuff online seems like its more of a fashion movement, form over function. really fucking awesome looking keyboards with 10 times the prices id actually pay
plus, some look so fucking small, i cant imagine them being good for gaming
Overhyped moneypit elitist “enthusiasts”
eh it's not reaaaaly form over function
I mean it is the same with custom PCs
there are some people that really want a specific look
but that doesn't mean that you necessrily need to drop off all other parts of your build
for me personally I look for sound and feel first
yeah thats why im asking about the term, its kinda unclear to me. i just heard keyboard hipsters call the plebians budget choice "prebuilts". phrases like "its good but sadly a prebuild" or "it has good aspects for a prebuild"
Its just terminally online losers jerking off over keyboard thoCc sound and thinking they are some sort of engineers because they can take a switch apart
don't think anyone would say "it is good but sadly a prebuilt"
unless they are shitheads
tbf i was a bit exaggerating for effect. but yeah i unstand what you mean
like comparison would be peopel being angry that idk
i just dont want to overspend on stuff that i could rather use for car payments or stuff. but i wanna live as well
hp started to sell prebuilts for 700 dollars with 4080s in them
honestly a keyboard having actual "software" seems so fucking foreign to me
eh
I mean essentialyl most custom keyboards just reflash their firmware
or nowadays have a tool that allows firmware to change a keymap
nothing suuuuper complicated
but also most keyboards with software don't do more
i know of pc software that interacts with specific keyboards, but having to update a "tools" firmware is so odd to me. but i guess its a natural progression
wrong
yea a major exception
would be wooting boards
they do a lot with their firmware
i tend to shy away from features that look like they are gimmicks to inflate price, like rgb a while ago, or almost every new(?) phone feature that comes out
i just recently found out that rgb isnt that bad in upcharge as it was once
like an rp2040
i mean if the software is too complicated its also more prone to bugs and more hassles when upgrading due to bigger size id imagine. simple but effective is best
yep
qmk and via/vial (which run on qmk) are all pretty simple
[IC] TKD Cycle7 (70%/FRL-TKL) | Added UK vendor and final colorways
this will be lit
ill look more into this series of keyboards you recommended. i also love to try out underdogs if they arent too much gamble on a gimmick.
if you got more recommendations as to where to learn more about whats the right one for me id love to hear it
most keyboard yt is about the custom fashion keyboards
actually good question
dunno where I would point someone for budget boards
imo people like hipyotech which focus on budget boards always way overmod them
so you don't get the characteristics of a board anymore
damn that looks like a keyboard that doesnt wear down at all. i love it (prolly still overpriced)
price is actually stupid low for what it is
metal is great but imo it looks worse IF it wears down compared to plastic
hm fair
why would the case wear though
i ask myself that as well. but i am really clumsy by nature so shit wears down faster while in my hands.
i just had to learn to be more careful and expect it more
fair, the pimp my ride kinda philosophy. its not the same in the end if you mod everything
some don't even give them a chance
or try it, identify a problem
and then go all the way
instead of just trying to get rid of the one problem
when does this come out? and would you recommend for buying it?
as a main stay keyboard
it will run next month actually
with a 2 month leadup time
waiting on stuff is sadly still common ofr custom keyboards
hm
idk for a person that just wants a keyboard
I would prob recommend to just go with a keychron
fair
what switch color?
planning to game with it. have no recallable experience with the different types
or should i spend extra for those overpriced test boards
reds are prob the safest bet
I mean if you want you can go to a local electronics retailer
and look if you like linears
or if you would prefer tactiles etc
good point, i should probably do that
ok wtf do those percentages mean
sizes
ah
those are the amount of keys
fair, never cared much about numpad. who tf under 80 uses that anyways
real
a full-size has 110~ keys so a 75% has around 84
ok that looks horrible but at the same time im intrigued
crooked ass
wait was it 104
think so
@glossy sandal he j like you fr
idk I never bothered with fullsize
I like Alice layout
it's odd
theres only one full sized and one alice keeb i want
I liked it back when I had my sesame
but I don't like it now that I have a weird owllabs spring clone
Fossil was cool
which ones lol
But I also want a rf
boomerang is nice
rf hello kitty full sized and dolice
compact keyboards make me develop claustrophobia, especcially if they make the enter button small. i wanna feel like im launching a nuke goddamnit
dolice 💀
would rather have a real alice
ig
you think i got that kinda money-
Dolice bottom is cool as hell
do you have the money for a dolice
man id buy one if i could
hmm
anyone got some good takes on the layout
if i stop buying keeb shit this year yeah
the alice one in general, not just this kb
i saw this shit
it's pretty subjective
yeah i know
thats why im not asking chatgpt
I mean it seems decently well designed
they didnt half ass it
although maybe i should try asking chatgpt for keyboard recommendations
could be funny
yea but there really is no better take to tell you besides you have to try it out to know
don’t do dat
thats not gon get you v far
Alice messes me up
feels like the kind of stuff that might be better if you learn to use it but it will be worse for everyone else that didnt
It also highlights all my typing mishabits
the gaps in keys for alice fucks me up
I mean it helped me with touch typing
the look isnt for me
it gets me really good at using on side of the kb because you can’t use the other
Borrowed a Q8 for a weekend

tkl is a classic
what’s on your desk
mainly j into tkls and 60s
TKL is fire
atm F2-84
No F1?
I mean I have one

using g80 right now
F2 plate too bad
Get a custom
which
1800
ah
Proof?
buy brutal 1800 v2
the layout isn’t for me
@muted karma would you be fine switching and staying on normal if they keyboard stays the same in everything else. or would it be hard to get used to it again
when size.l
for me it was pretty fluent
like, how steep is the difference
size.l guy j linked me the platefiles
when I feel like paying 100$ shipping
but that is just my personal experience
wait wtf its that much?
plate files of a g80?
isnt that what they sell for
h paid that much
oh, nother question. knobs, worth or overrated gimmick
it’ll probably be cheaper to me
size.l plate files
a
random top mount keeb that goes dirt cheap aftermarket
bro said random like s80/s65 isn’t hyped rn
canada moment
ne orion
it is?
wtf
im that outta the keeb space
the screen you dunce
how much does it go for aftermarket
150$~
i saw some hype here and there but nothing major
oh that is dirt cheap
buy heavy grail
norb doesn't deserve money
all i need
but heavy-6 so pretty
norbowow
sho has some nice stuff
Keebox M0110
yea that one
lip on that is pretty
I bet if you cut it enough you can fit a topre internal
i assume i wont gain more bang for my money by buying keyboard and keys seperately
its probably always more expensive
mhm
it's also quite expensive
at that point just wait for topre parts for the frog mini to come around
:( not to mention prolly pretty annoying to find good keys
theres someone working on that?
cip?
not with keychron v series
yea I think cip even has protos of it
yeah thats why im asking, they offer barebones versions asw
scrolling through his server
cause imo the buttons are boring and a bit ugly, but i dont want to spend 50 bucks more for china quality buttons that feel horrible
i need to keep up with that
ah
it's just an EC60
makes sense
and a custom plate
this + a custom plate
whats "custom" about it? looks pretty stock to me
which should be easy to do
oooh the hardware?
also a bowl project ec coming up but thats probably gon ruin my wallet
I mean that is what makes that specific board extra special
Please make sure to use this link to purchase Add-ons for combined delivery : https://geon.works/collections/frog-mini FROG MINI BAREBONE KIT by Geonworks SPECS - MOUNT : Tadpole mount , Top mount - TYPING ANGLE : 6˚ - FRONT HEIGHT : 16.5mm - MATERIAL : TOP,BOTTOM CASES - A6063-T6 : INNER, OUTER WEIGHTS - Brass : PLA
i just thought customs are mostly just keys and switches
and an overpriced led screen that is worse than a nintendo ds
gamer shit
it's decent if you use a differnt plate
we love
still waiting for the cute frog themed keys smh
any frog build is gon be baller
didn't like my frog TKL
and F2 is mid at best imo
hated it with a plate
have it plateless with gat yellows
with keychron, do i need to pick out specifically compatible custom keys or is it standardized?
which make it above average ig
if i were to go with barebones
no they are standard size
poggie
if you want I can double check if a set is compatible if you find one you like
f2 pretty but the sound and feel is iffy at best
but honestly going with it fully built is the best value
what build did you have on the frog tkl
alu flex plate and tried around a bit
ended up on spstar melons with a different nylon top
thx, i might take you up on that ~
the leaf spring plate?
which still didn't sound that nice to me
most ppl ik with frogs did not like that plate at all
in hindsight should have gone with PC or something
did you sell it alr?
hella ppl j told me to get a diff plate if i buy a frog
i rlly wanted a bias at some point
yea also the galatea pcb is garbage
cancelation slot was open but i didnt have the money at the time
how much?
for good money
hopefully you didnt have to overpay
good shit
I think 450?
i remember a lot of them selling like that
450 is way way under retail
yea I don't think any of the biases are flawless though
they should all have that scratch above f-row
now we have the whole refinishing thing going on
should i care about "anti ghosting", or is that just a non mechanical keyboard thing
V series should work as intended
only the cheapest shit of cheapest shit mechanical boards have a problem with that
asking out of curiosity, i heard that some cheap ass keyboards try to redeem themselves with that label
but i dont know if its valuable if used right
but ok ill ignore it for now
the keychron k series is pretty cheap as well, any reason not to choose them?
if not cheaper
so if i were about to get the Keychron K8 over the V3, i would have optional bluetooth support and a cheaper price for little to no difference?
@muted karma
build quality on k-boards is a bit worse
also dunno if I would recommend bluetooth on input devices
it likes to have massive delay
you can use them as wired, and according to keychron themselves it has the same latency wired than the v3
that is 1000hz
as opposed to 90hz wireless
its fine for general purpose use; but I wouldn't use bluetooth for gaming (especially FPS/competitive)
if its like civ.....bluetooth is fine lol
bluetooth polling is typically lower than wired/RF polling
although 90Hz feels a little low
wireless wont be my primary use
but if its literally an extra feature with no drawback its not bad if its not that high
im still looking for the catch in k8 vs v3, especially when compared to the k8 pro
the only thing i can think of is the design maybe
yea, but the v3 is asw
i haven't looked at their K series in quite a while so I could be wrong
hm
does k8 pro have an aluminum chassis option?
pronin says build quality on k series is worse
yes
I'd personally get the pro over v3
but so does the reg k8
but I'd get a Q/V series before either
doesnt give me any options on their store

the k8 base has it tho
maybe k8 parts just fit onto the pro asw
does k8 non-pro support QMK? i don't see it saying that on the product page
nope
only q, v and k pro series do
So K8 Pro gets QMK/VIA and pbt keycaps
so basically what i gathered
k8 < v3 < k8 pro
seems like it
@muted karma sorry for pinging you again but i just want to make sure that theres no good reason not to buy the pro over the v3 if the price is better
since you recommended them
different style of case basically
wait how
price difference is not that big
its a box
not really ig
yeah like 10€ less, fair
and a lot more features, i think ill go with the k8 pro. worst thing ill lose is the rgb
tbh i'd rather more boards ship with basic white LED backlight
i don't care for the rgb on south facing pcbs
true
that said, if the only difference in price is like 5€ i see no harm. plus, in some cases its even cheaper to buy the rgb version. got my g502 mouse for cheaper than i would if i wouldve gone with the core non rgb
thanks for all the help everyone <3
they didnt have aluminum on stock, but it was an option. dunno why the option picker didnt load before for me at first
and yes, despite shitting on rgb i bought the rgb version anyways, bc 10 bucks more is no biggie
i'd be RGB varients are produced in greater quantities, and the actual manufacturing cost difference of solid color vs RGB these days is probably negligible?
11ms wired latency tested and 23ms wireless
"1000hz"
seems like a standard by keychron to have abysmal latency compared to even cheap gaming boards
1000hz with non shit debounce algorithm and firmware should be in the 1-3ms area average latency
only hope for it is to wipe out whatever garbage is on it and use QMK with eager debounce and 1000hz and set a high scanrate with forced NKRO
looks like that one ordered is qmk compatible atleast not sure what weird defaults they ship with
still bluetooth latency is unfixable for wireless since they apparently are allergic to just using a 2.4g dongle like any other brand over bluetooth dogshit
yeah looked it up rn and apparently heychron doesnt have the best track record on latency. which i hope will not be as much of a problem ingame
i will mostly use it wired
if not only
ill try to not read into it too much as to not fall into buyers remorse. but i will try comparing my microsoft sidewinder x4 to it once it arrives
it can probably be reduced to 5ms after solving the debounce issue but thats just an estimation but atleast you bought the QMK version so that you can adjust the firmware
the eager debounce sends keypresses immediately without waiting 5ms or so
probably more prone to chatter but whatever
will be a problem in game
becuase you got an overhyped "cuSTOm" keyboard for gaming
some 50 dollar ratshit corsair or razor will blow it out of the water in gaming
https://michael.stapelberg.ch/posts/2021-05-08-keyboard-input-latency-qmk-kinesis/#qmk-input-latency
Over the last few years, I worked on a few projects around keyboard input latency:
In 2018, I introduced the kinX keyboard controller with 0.2ms of input latency.
In 2020, I introduced the kinT keyboard controller, which works with a wide range of Teensy micro controllers, and both the old KB500 and the newer KB600 Kinesis Advantage models.
only problem i see with QMK currently though is they still have input chord splitting but it only matters for rythm games with multiple simultaneous keypresses
but yeah there are some 50 dollar gaming keyboards that have better firmware in terms of having low latency and high scanrate with forced NKRO already with no tweaking
at the expense of having cheaper keycaps and stabilizers mostly but ive seen complaints about keychron having not the best build quality in the world
only brand i fully avoid is corsair from how shit their stuff is
have not had one good corsair peripheral
corsair has good latency and rgb but their build quality sucks
macro software is decent in features except for how bloated it has become
😂 feels miles better tho
I hope i wont regret it too much
If you guys have better ideas feel free to give em. I might refund it
Obv. Not too late
they’ve argued this point a couple times
when the latency is negligible in game
just buy whatever you were going to
Yeah
hi whats a good budget wired mechanical keyboard with cherrymx red switches tkl size? budget is like $30 or $40
What are the quietest tactile switches in all of existence without lubing?
i got a Redragon keyboard and its pretty nice

is the brand a good one?
not really but if you like the board that's all that matters
buy it
is it good?
lol
???
Here is my hyper x alloy fps (mx blues) with cool white leds (diy) just didnt like the red glow so yee
And yes the leds look alot more blue on camera then they do in person
any update on astolfo keyboard
Yeah that's how membrane works
I can here the clicks from here 😭
Hello, I've got a Cooler Master SK622 keyboard with Cherry MX Red (low profile) switches. A couple keys don't register unless I put some effort into making sure they are fully depressed. Is there a way to maybe clean the switches? or am I better off just finding the low profile switches to replace them? I haven't done any of the custom keyboard stuff, so not sure exactly where to get low profile switches, which I understand I cannot use regular switches on this keyboard, as the pins are different.
What keyboard do you guys recommend for around 75 usd? preferably it'd be one I could go to a store and get aswell.
hyperx alloy origins
how noticeable is latency ingame?
got a keychron, and it has around 11ms latency afaik. a lot of gaming keyboards have a latency around 1-5 so i wonder how well itll work
im using a microsoft sidewinder membrane "mechanical" so i have no clue if my previous experience is better or worse than that
i might try to refund it if i can find a better keyboard, at least in terms of input delay
heard akko has good ones but theres very little to no info on input delay, just the usual stuff
not that much iirc
from what ive heard
should be a big upgrade from the membrane then
feel wise sure
from what ive heard, past 10ms delay, you can feel the difference in game noticeably
i have found some wired keyboards like the Roccat Vulcan 121 AIMO for 50€, and the Corsair K100 RGB for 100€ on ebay marketplace.
or would you say that membrane cant have lower input delay than mechanical?
there are no clear stats on it besides vague terminology and second hand claims of 3ms, so i cant say myself
I would say that it's likely that the keychron will be an upgrade because microsoft most likely didn't have latency as their main point when making it
well their entire gimmick was being "gamer"
and they brag about their FUUUTURISTIC anti ghosting tech
that apparently also minimizes latency
if push comes to shove i still think the corsair for 100 is a great deal and ill use the keychron as my second keyboard. or give it to my brother to convert him over from a flat key membrane plebian
CLICK CLICK CLICK cant wait to get 40 in a office xD
Honestly in any product I look at I don't give a shit about the product page itself other than the pics and the spec list
That way I don't look at all of their claims just the "Hey this is how it preforms actually"
can anyone recommend any good 75-85% gaming keyboards under$120
What's up my nerds!
I "recently" saw a mechanical keyboard in a typewriter style with big knobs(hehe) and it seemed somewhat high quality
Anything I seem to Google right now seems to give me cheap garbage
By typewriter keyboard I mean, circular keys
STOGA Typewriter Gaming Keyboard with RGB Backlight Knobs 87-key Brown Switch, Media Control Retro Round Keycaps Black
I think this is it
its usually cheap garbage because it is cheap garbage
and also theyre horrible to type with
That's my main issue in the first place. As a rookie in keyboards i would've been better off whitch searching for "gamer" specifically bc it would showoff with its latency
As opposed to just sound and feel
Are you a pro? Or lose fights often because your keyboard didn’t register fast enough?
If not then why do you care
It doesn’t matter to regular people
You’re almost guaranteed to be limited by your mechanical skill and game sense
There’s no point in buying a gaming keyboard with a negligible benefit in response time to gaslight yourself into thinking its worth the money when it isn’t
I do play some competive games. And not to be rude but this point feels a bit like the "the eye can barely see past 60fps anyways" topic i had years ago, dont want to regret it just because someone else has lower standards than i do.
But i figured i just buy both anyways and gift one to my brother like i said. Would love to be proven wrong here
Keyboard latency doesn’t even come close to being as important as panel refresh rate and response time but ok go ahead and waste your money
Observing keyboard drama these past few days
theres drama?
there’s always drama
I thought bc its more showoffy
nah most conversation here is just a q&a
😱 1 ms
Dw not blaming this server, i mean tech communities in general
oh you mean tech overall
Yea
I don’t follow audio much but from what I’ve seen a lot of differing interests
Outside
Hm fair, audio has a lot of elitism
If you aren’t aware then you won’t care anyways
Too late, ive seen the truth (online)
Recntly learned that used products can still be sold as new infinitely if not damaged or used too long
Since then im more accepting of used
Wasn’t replying to you
Hm
If I don’t know you probably don’t know 🪂
First movers advantage can propel many idiots to relevance
mx did the xerox thing arrive
you prob want to rather look at a mouse with lower motion delay then a keyboard
if you wanna minmax keyboards there atm is not really a way around wooting with their rapid trigger
since all their competitors can't really match it
razer has limited range
the other options on the market have limited reset points
and steelseries still does not have that promised update
the 60he is (according to rtings) "only" 1ms behind the fastest board they tested (take that with a grain of salt, rtings is not known for extremely reliable testing results) but you can spam it MUCH quicker since the reset point of the switches is variable
board is ok overall, if you just want a keyboard though you can get better value
and performance that 99% of gamers couldn't differentiate anyways
rukia moment
1000hz polling not enough ? Most qmk enabled keebs are 1000hz
there is more to input speed than just polling rate
as an example
most of the mice in that list are 1khz
Those are mice yo
Some of them are even wireless
I guess i strictly assumed wired keyboards
I mean yea but as long as you dont buy the cheapest keyboard on the planet there aint much of a diff
first of all all of them in that test run wired + all of them are faster than the 8khz evga mouse
and that is just click delay
so the same thing applies to a keyboard
So the click is processed slower than the polling rate.
