But they are not clones
i also buy clones like gmk clones
but i prefer WoB and BoW
if i pay 10 times more i expect 10 times better quality
why would i waste so much money
So try it, purchase a set of GMK, ePBT or signature plastic BoW and you'll get that
Lost cause imho
i have nicepbt and pbtfans
and they feel exactly like 15eur from aliexpress and those are 90eur
also nicepbt has worse colors
what i am trying to say why do people complain about ethics
just let people enjoy stuff
Because some things are unethical
lithium batteries are unethical
and you use them
wireless keyboards
Why do people complain about ethics........ That's a very sociopathic thing to say
I can’t stop it however.
you are not able to stop clones
both will happen without you
vegan not eating stake gets thrown in the dumpster
they will have zero impact
But I can support the designers they were cloned from
Mhm
you believe designers earn money
no company does
Just
Because they do
you know how much percentage spotify steals form artists
my friend has a band on spotify
they do not earn shit
I know designers earn money because I'm a designer? Hello
spotify is as bad as piracy
Lol
spotify takes almost 80%
But that's Spotify
I know GMK pays artists more
i would like to see the source
still me wasting 150eur on gmk will earn artist 1eur
I'm not posting a contract to a linus tech tips discord
nice i made artist buy an ice cream
while i wasted almost a week of pay
i just do not see a reason why people get attacked for buying cheap keycaps
gmk is like veganism of mechanical keyboards
like saying piracy damages companies while they throw unethical microtransactions with no respect for their customers to milk them out of their money
someone who pirates a game will just rather not play it than buy it
therefore no money will be lost for company
also how many sales are made 100mil or 200mil on opening weekend
Not stacked for buying cheap keycaps, you are ridiculed for buying clones. And not the sense that you have clones, but openly admitting to not caring you are not supporting the original designers.
They keyboard community has been trying to rid clones for a while, but it's newcomers that see pretty colors for cheap that keep them coming
are clones illegal
no they are not
also cheap aliexpress keycaps are not illegal
they are frowned upon
elitists try to get rid of clones yes
oh so are you saying the original designers of the Dolch colourscheme are getting paid !!!!
clones are the reason why a lot of new people get into keyboards
You can't put cheap and clones in the same sentence, cheap keycaps are fine, clones are not
designers get paid pennies
says you lmao
i support both
I'm done, you have no idea what you're talking about with this
no my friend is engineer who designs and another is on spotify both get ripped totally off
i saw their paperwork
if i buy 150eur gmk artist will maybe get 1eur out of it
I'm not talking to you
don't talk to me thanks
i type not talk
don't be pedantic for the sake of it
yes good luck lashing out on people for beign afford to buy keyboards
if you want to gatekeep community go ahead
It's literally not gatekeeping but go off
you lose nothing if someone buys cheap keycaps
yet you want to gatekeep them
you gatekeep people from buying cheap keycaps
this is definition of gatekeeping
Are you not understanding there is a difference between cheap and clones?
yes and i support both
cheap are cheap clones are stolen designs
but i support both because they are both cheap
stolen design is not equal to stolen product
logitech steals from razer
but they are still different in manufacturing
Wait, I recognize your name. Didn't you get banned off of multiple keyboard discords and KBDfans for hostile attitude and opinions?
i was banned from few because i tried to be defend subjective opinions of many innocent people while elitists attack people for no reason yes
i say live and let live if you like cheap keyboards or expensive keyboards
but people get offended of poor people buying mechanical keyboards
i never got that why being aggressive and disrespectful to other people gives nothing to your life
i was banned while never using a single slur or insult
while i was called a clown an n word and r word
stop the cap
That is cap
Elitists didn't come at you, you didn't like their opinions and belittled them, just as you are doing here.
Or tried to at least
This dude also got scammed on switches and started swinging on the whole hipyotech server
The server basically has nothing to do with hipyo his name is just attached to it
He gets insulted all the time
sounds like a waste of time
meh
we can go back a little back have i ever insulted you no
did you mock my taste yes
all i tried to do is share opinion that everyone should be respected
but sadly some insecure people have issue with allowing people to be happy
you know what marcus aurelius said
opinion of 10000 men is of no value if they do not know anything about the subject
only hostility i have noticed on discord were tech servers but not all primarily mechanical keyboard ones
i just do not understand what is wrong with standing up for people who are poor
all i tried to do is defend opinions of people who are not able to afford expensive keyboards
but you went batshit crazy with gatekeeping
What do you guys think of the new video LTT released about mechanical keyboards?
seems a bit overwhelming for people who are not already privy to keyboards
Thank you for saying this
i never said you do not know anything i just passed a quote
what i wanted to point out if people ban you it is not always they are right
back in the day people burned witches with crowd mentality
you just have to do some research
Getting into keyboards is a big step, but it's not super complicated. Having the right person to get you started makes the journey much easier. Videos in general push a lot of information very quickly, you have to dissect it. The video was a bit much for someone just trying to get into keyboards, but it's okay. It's a place to start
My taste in keyboard is superior
Adda boy
That's what I thought too
For real tho didgy I love your keebs tho
It's about ostentatious keycaps too
More expensive = more better
Here's my next design
I'm gonna color it all pink
And I'm gonna fit the keys tighter than ever before
We're down to 13mm keyspacing babyyyyyy
Screw the keys, replace then with capacitive pads
All of yous tastes must bow before my genius inventions
Yes sir 👍
Once I'm done, I have to make a copy and send it to LTT for some nice roasting
Engrave the back with lttstore.com
Now we're talking
Print the PCB with linus' face on it too
what is maximum utility
like supreme
To me, max utility means trying to maximize ergonomics, portability and usefulness
For instance, I've found that I can do everything that 104 key keyboards can do, I can do with 28 keys
i like tkl i barely use function keys and arrows but i like them for coding and rts games
Damn straight
I started using navigation keys a lot more since I got this keyboard, since they are so easy to reach now
idk i guess logitech keyboard for 10eur does everything 90eur does just feels less premium
i still have highest wpm on cheapest logitech
thinking of getting one cheap office keyboard again they are so neat
What kind of switches are the best (in everyone’s opinions)
I like tactiles
Linears are icky to me
I’ve only tried one kind of linears but I imagine they’re mostly similar
Tactile for typing linear for gaming
Clicky for typing with a little bit of spice
Now, if you are saying "whats your favorite switch", consider the following subjective information:
Linear - Durock Mambas or Vint Blacks
Tactile - T1 Halosuns (Halo True Stem, Durock Sunflower Housing, 55g Spring)
Clicky - 2013-2015 Razer Greens (Kailh + Greetech)
it is completely subjective no wrong answer each person prefers a different thing i primarily just use linear switches i used to only use tactile switches for years but i only like brown switches with pretravel out of tactile group not a fan of clicky switches too crispy on feel and loud except for kailh box white switches they are only clicky switch i like but i miss tactile feedback
I only use super light switches with short travel distance to minimize effort to type. So I use 20gf linears. There's no tactility to be had at light springs anyways
Dang son that's a light switch
20g for top or 20g for bottom
Bottom I guess?
Yo @arctic shuttle I think I got my first franken all built out, just gotta buy it all. What do you think?
Outemu cream yellow housing
Outemu panda stem (I changed this because I wanted to have a better housing for more frankens later down the road)
Spring from outemu cream
And then outemu panda housing and outemu cream yellow stem
Should be nice
Basically budget U4T
And yes I know U4T’s are only 10 cents more
It sounds interesting, I personally dispise panda housings
Why do much outemu
You're gonna need films
Sounds good. I will pick some up when I order some more keyboard stuff.
Wait wait wait, box stem?
Yeah
Why?
That’s like all of the good outemu stuff
Cap wobble?
99% of outemu stuff is box
Cream, the seasonal switches, the normal stuff, the red blue brown, there’s a few non box stuff
Trust, try Durock T1 bottom housings, regular for more thock, Sunflower for more clack
Insane tactility leaf
Aight I gotta try
They a bit pricey, you could go with the jwicks
But they are cherry style housings, oops
Not gonna work
Nvm ignore me
i also like light switches but do you not have any return issues
Not at all
where do you get such light springs i know sprit sells lightest 55g and tx 45g
Thock pop
I’ve seen one switch have 28g
@viscid tapir I use this
Love it tbh
i have 50g bottom out and long spring and return is not that good anymore
nice looks like the one they use it court
I don't actually remember where I ordered my springs
i prefer low profiled keyboards but they lack customization
It's infinitely customizable if you just 3D print every piece and design your own PCBs 😉
Mhm
true you can also create your gpu
but there is not much on the market
i like least amount of effort
main reason why i have such bad wpm on mechanical keyboard
is primarily travel distance
miss just going to the store and buying logitech or razer keyboard
with no stresss of finding for ideal springs and lubing them
I don't remember the last time I just bought something without careful considerations
Takes me 2 seconds
If I like I keep
If I don't I sell
Don't like these switches, lemme l+f and add $25 to whatever I paid
Hey everyone looking for switch suggestions, I'm currently using a corsair mx70 with mx blues, I love blues for typing everyday for my job but gaming has been a problem where I need to click really fast and repetitively, I was looking at either speed silver or reds would love some thoughts on which to go with next? (only have best buy and staples in canada to shop from)
Check out the steelseries Apex pro. They are adjustable optical switches
Finally went out and took some nice pictures of the Swoop!
Unless you are set on sticking with mechanical switches, reds will have a better typing experience
Interesting shots
can't say I'm good at photography hah
No the photos themselves are great it's just an interesting backdrop
Yeah I mean I've seen others put their keyboards in nature so I thought I should too, though this is a bit more cliffy than most
I think it works well for the first picture especially
It's an interesting juxtaposition of organic and inorganic
indeed
Desk definitely needs cleaning. I have a few picture of it on my desk but they're not great
Either way it was a nice 5km walk
Gotta include one with the fortress
Quite far away tho
I might go closer another time
Yup, that is what I was asking 💀
I know it’s subjective, that’s why I said “in everyone’s opinion”
Ya it's dope, solid photography
Thanks!!
Ah perfect, well there are some of my backed opinions
I don't expect the average consumer to go ahead and start frankenswitching but, I just couldn't find a heavy enough tactile bump anywhere else
Makes sense
I still have yet to buy a mechanical keyboard of any kind tbh, I just like the intricacies of them
That's why I got into it
Take a look at some of MechWilds offerings if you want to solder on components like smds and really build your own keyboard
I like tactiles, linears feel a bit off, and I’ve never tried clicky switches but I’d assume they’re not too different from tactiles aside from noise profile
Oh interesting
Is that yours?
Mhmm
Looks sick
It's a cutie, but I can't type on it
Is it not done or something?
No it's just a 40%
In the market for a mechanical keyboard mainly for gaming. Any recommendations for a good TKL? Don’t care about RGB. Been using the Durgod Taurus K320 for 4 years. However the latency is higher than most keyboards.
picking up a keychron board tomorrow
i use a keychron at work, its alright.
no real complaints about it. its nothing special either.
its "good enough"
It's 👌
Well my friend
Software is your best friend
And the “gaming” brands have crap software
I know the keychron stuff has a lightweight keybind suite
I haven’t used software at all for the Durgod Taurus k320
Been using it for 4 years
Not too fussy about the brand, RGB, or software. Just looking for a simple TKL with good latency @magic wolf
Never heard of keychron
Better than any gamer brand you have heard of
I’ll look into it
If you don’t care about RGB you’re in for a good time
Never been a fan of keyboards from big gamer brands
I can see that
no lol
My first and only mechanical keyboard has been Durgod Taurus k320 and it’s still working great. Just wanted to try something else
I have been very happy with my HyperX Alloy Origins Core. It's pretty good for a gaming board. HyperX Aqua tactile switches are pretty nice. It's RGB, but it works fine out of the box and you can save solid color backlighting to the board itself and then uninstall the software if you don't wanna deal with default rainbow wave. My Corsair board that was twice the price made you keep the software installed if you wanted to have custom profiles
I’m big fan of 60%, learning to fn bind is like learning to type again…..but once you get good at it
Woooo da macros
Icue is just bloated software in general
corsair keycaps are poopbuttass too, my escape and function row keys were constantly popping off
It’s not about the lighting even, there’s just nothing good for binds
didn't icue have a privesc vulnerability
Razer I think
i know synapse did
that's my concern of 60%, if i don't like fn binding
but i do love the looks
Ye, the soft is good for gamer. And a standard hotswap everything
Nobody likes it until they brute force themselves to like it
It’s just like using Linux

hmm
linux is fun with a nice keeb
yeah i'm not completely sure if i get a 60% or tkl as a first mechanical keyboard
Are you coming from a full boi with a keypad?
TKL is my go to but I don’t mind trying 60%
Yeah you’re gonna, miss that F row and you will miss the delete key a lot
I like having the F1,F2,F3 etc keys
Id go for the tkl
yeah tkl is more beginner friendly
The advantage a 60 has is once you overcome….however long that may take, you don’t need to take your hands away from your standard alphabet movements
and more desk space
how is that an issue
and better looks imo
most people just use 60 for more space/aesthetics
hi mx
that just implies the inverse is a problem
who are you
I made it very clear the pro was a fluid function row / macro key typing experience with the con being a steep learning curve.
#I try to be self aware of bias when I can.
gastrail can maybe explain
whar
scroll up
what am i explaining
people use different layouts tailored to what they're comfortable with
but 60% is the best so
i got my wife an iqnix f97(https://iqunix.store/products/f97-hitchhiker?variant=39750760038460) with gold pink. I still just use a razer blackwidow v3.
thats very nice of you bellend
The Keychron keyboards use Gateron switches. Is Gateron brown equivalent to cherry brown?
honestly, if there was a keyboard like a blackwidow v3 id swap over, but i havent found any that really have the same key spacing and feel
they
they're similar yes
i really hope you know what my name means, because thats hilarious, and if you dont know, dont google it
huh
i know i live in the uk
the blackwidow is the most generic gaming keyboard ever
literally anything else has the same spacing
making sure hahaha, i grew up in bangor lol
isn't the blackwidow just a standard mx
it is
its something about the spacing between the tops of the keycaps.
and the comfort grooves
thats just OEM profile
cherry is pretty naise
every keycap has "comfort grooves"??
oem being taller cherry
so real
skill issue
oh hi mx
hi
what was lux saying
no idea
silly little guy
sum about 60-%
dude let's play
im ready
ik im using ayame
oh alright
i just vaguely remember you as a shitter
LMAO
whats a good "oem" feel that has replaceable switches, addressable rgb, a good solid and soft wristwrest(preferably that fits into it, not some amazon extra), full size keyboard, and wireless and wired capabilites
a keychron k10 pro?
lel
idk what i'd do if my rgb wasnt programmable
Keychron Q2 pricing is similar to Wooting 60HE. Which one would you go for if you had to choose between the two?
Likewise
trying to think of something.
i do, because 1.) i like to match it to my PC, and 2.) i like to be able to control its brightness and colours depending on the time of day and such
wooting bruh
well im 36, im not asking for it to be OMGAMERZ, i just want it to be nice lol.
lmao
Never used a 60% board. Do you just have to use the FN function to access the Del key?
yeah
my issue with smaller boards is i need a numpad
If I wanted to press Del to access Bios I just have to hold down FN and the button that’s assigned to Del?
i couldn't care less about a numpad
have you considered a seperate numpad?
you obviously dont work in a place that uses it a lot lol
Might try the wooting 60he just to see what the hype is about
id want it to match the keyboard aesthetically
i don't even have a job lmao
so if theres something like that id be fine with it
obviously 😉
It helps when someone tries to be too familiar with me
yeah
numpads dont matter until youre in the professional world tbh
i'm just a silly little guy
what
airheaded and all that
ha ha
i actually thought that was a weird set of ballocks before i zoomed in
TIL i need a bigger laptop screen.
ahahahaha
balls
yes
i was looking at the pics my manu sent
gaojie fit kinda fire though
real
im rocking with the thin belt
belt goes hard
haaha
omg i was gonna say that
if you think of something that could replace my blackwidow let me know
not a huge fan of it, but i simply havent found anything else that does it all
so remind me of the criteria again
full size, fully addressable rgb, hotswappable.
full keyboard, OEM layout of keys and key height, addressable RGB, hot swappable switches
wireless
PREFERABLY usb c
ok so about oem layout and keys, you can change the keys to oem whenever you'd like.
fair, but not so much the layout
as in like no squished layouts
makes it impossible to use for me, muscle memory is strong.
Anyone here try the wooting 60he?
I made dis and still gotta learn how to type as I'm used to ISO German.
It's the Akko Mod 007v2 with stock U4T (will likely be replaced by U4Tx when they arrive) and Durock v2-GSV2 stabs (GSV2 casing, rest is Durock due to fit issues with the PC plate), only the enter key is a full Durock v2.
Caps are the Glorious ABS double shot.
Oh and the numpad is the Glorious one with PC plate and lubed Pandas/U4T mix, might also be replaced by U4Tx
hows the numpad
yes this is why i added my subjective opinion
i usually get attacked for "hostile opinions" while i always add this is just my subjective opinion but some people gatekeep well elitists
loos nice i like magenta or lavender backlight
i wonder do you actually use numpad that much see a ton of people getting it
she shipped it today
cringe
I've got 3 more they just get worse I promise you
Dawg I hate to be that guy I really do but nobody asked
Like I know it’s true but I asked about your preferences not past experiences 💀
but who asked you to respond to me
You were talking to me literally the message before that one but alrighty dude
i replied i never said i wanted a response
Responding in a conversation is the polite thing to do, but it’s a dumb thing to fight about so how about let’s not
Seeming kinda hostile today bruv
i just shared a thought you are the one being upset over my thought
you are the one saying you i should not have posted that
i never tried to control what you said
I didn’t say you shouldn’t have wtf 💀💀💀
idk why are you taking it personal
At the moment you’re ranting because I said nobody asked, I don’t know how I’m the one taking it personal.
dude calm down and take a deep breath and start thinking rationally
I’m plenty calm, how ‘bout you?
why would i not be
Well so far you’re going off on me because I simply said “nobody asked” so I’m under the impression that you’re not calm
i am completely calm just baffled why you are taking it personal over simple opinion on the internet
you could just as well ignore it
but oyu decided to comment what people should and should not say
Dawg I didn’t take anything personal at this point you’re just in my face over nothing
why are you getting upset over it with "dawg" and "skulls"
And also when did I say that? You’re twisting my words to you can get offended by them 💀
just ignore it and move on
That’s how I tend to speak on discord but yeah sure I’m upset
i said what i had to say there is no point in continuing this
it is a waste of time
I’m the one who said we shouldn’t fight and you kept going you silly goose
Silly billy 🤭
just stop with the rant and move on it is that simple
Look back at who was ranting dude 💀💀
Yooo fr?
Yeah I can tell he likes hearing himself
Bro got pissed off because a 14 year old on the internet said “nobody asked”
Interesting
Lmao
REVAN why are you picking fights with people
This is why you got banned in Hipyo Thock
Wait a second is that a glacier
cloudline
Ah, hmmmmm
It’s amazing if you like a more high pitched sound signature
What makes it your favorite board
The anodization is perfect, color is super nice, it’s 3kg, and I really like the theming with the engravings
The designer is also a cool dude
Oh why?
Noice
I use mx blacks pretty much exclusively
Sick
I want dcs red alert
Ah nice lol
I still haven’t used any of mine
Going to the NK meetup so I’ll prob get smth worked out to use one lol
Wow that looks almost a perfect match
I thought masterpiece was a lot lighter
Noice
I’m looking out for F1-V2 this summer
Also I looked at your mutual servers and I understand this now lol
I honestly don’t know why it was that hyped but I’m just glad I got it
yep
how many boards you got
I have 4 atm
lmao
I usually sell a board everytime I get a new one
coolio
I would have nowhere to put them lol
I have mine in carrying cases
can you send me a korn compat pcb purchase link for a vendor in canada
I am down to only a couple of boards, the rest have been sold
@glossy mica @foggy socket it is really nice imho and probably kinda on par with the GMMK Pro. Stabs are fine to me but I also saw people hating on the GMMK stock stabs and I guess they are in there as well. The slider can be assigned separately which I did for spotify and it's freaking awesome. It does feel really nice. I would recommend having it on a mousepad tho, that way it just sounds super bassy which I love. Feel is decent with the switches I used. I kinda did "overgasket" it just for the lulz and it got really bassy because of it yet it doesn't have much flex. I like it.
G.O.A.T. stabs are such a meme
Have you experienced them sticking yet?
nope, they do feel super smooth tho
You got super super lucky
already guessed so. But the GSV2 are just like 10-15 bucks or so and those are great.
Durock stems and GSV2 casing do have very little wobble, tried it myself when assembling
Just saw my u4tx in the mailbox
still think it's kinda funny I opted for an ANSI board when I've been typing on ISO boards my entire life because Germany almost exclusively has ISO-DE layout which is completely different from any other layout
Tx and cherry stabs are cheaper and significantly better. Durocks have faded out a lot in the community, as there were a handful of problems with them. You have staebies to help prevent stem wobble, but stem wobble isn't really an issue as long as you keycaps to switch stem connection is tight
alright. I've seen quite some odd behaviour on pure GSV2 with the GMMK2 but the combo seems quite nice.
Availability isn't all that great here for all those I didn't try but cherry.
eeh I kinda wanted to go with screw ins
probably just mind tricks but it seems to be able to be less rattly
Your quality clip ins shouldn't rattle, but I understand
also thing with the other stabs is that Idk what are best for me yet I don't really wanna try all of em out bc that would mean lubing them
too tedious for a possible disappointment due to minimal benefit
I mean, you have costar, clip ins, plate mounted, screw ins, and Razer stabs. That's your extent of stabs. Razer stabs are exclusive to optical keyboards from Razer, costar isn't really necessary on a quality MX board, plate mounts are not spectacular and rattle the most, screw ins are the most sturdy but suffer from resonance issues, same with clip ins but less as they are not torqued down
I mean since the pcb is like 1.2mm only I also used some foam underneath the stabs but I get ya
Oh, tx makes 1.2mm stabs as well
owlstabs and tx are my favorite
I've had binding issues with owlab before
which version did you use
V1 I believe
you are the one harassing me
I know V3's had some issues
i have blocked you both
I get V2's on qwertykeys
I haven't done anything, stop
Leave me alone, stop picking fights with everyone who has different opinions and calling them elitists
What's going on with the v3's
idk
nor do I really care tbh lol
these are the good ones https://www.qwertykeys.com/products/owlstab
Anywhere else besides qwertykeys?
you can use the code cub65 and get two sets for $30 shipped to the US
its the best
What's going on, what about them? Interior to what
U4T
I used to be a tactile guy but im all linear now
Linears are just bliss
eeh not for me
That's fair
Really? That's kinda wild from a gazzew
U4T = smooth enough
U4Tx = feeling kinda scratchy
like not metal scratchy
I think it is the silicone
it's also super sticky
U4T 's are pretty smooth after lube imo
tried the switch without the silicone
they're smooth enough stock imho
I might film mine, idk yet
I dont film switches anymore
They have that little bit of scratch though. Not like a cream or cherry scratch, but just enough for me to go like, hmmm
You don't really need to for switches after 2022
yeah
Some here and there but not many
I just buy like 500 mx blacks at a time and use those
I scalp them for their nylon tops xD
frankenswitches are kinda dumb nowadays imo
I get you, I feel it too but honestly only when I really try feeling it y'know?
Like, normal use? Don't notice it
Once you break them in they go away
btw is there any recommendation for a better tactile than a U4T 65g?
might also be why mine are fine now
neopolitans maybe
My frankenswitches
They are a lot of work for minimal pay out. Like BCP's are become more and more obsolete

yeah i'd rather save on my switches to buy more caps
Lol grab some Halo Trues off drop, some Durock Sunflowers off daangkeebs and slap then together
just from using 23 cent mx blacks instead of 65 cent anything else, I save a GMK set worth after building two boards
Ya that will do it
I'm so mad I didn't hop on the GMK kitsune gb
Keycaps are gorgeous
there will be extras
Ya but for more than $125
what about the neopolitans? They actually worth a try?
Oh ya
ive heard they're mega tactile
They rival the u4t
ive been wanting a few keysets but idk which ones im actually gonna get
Cojiro is my personal favorite along side black lotus
ive been eying hooty, panels, and redline
I think imma stick to the U4T then
You can always get a couple to try out
Keychron board has exceeded my expectations
These optical red switches are actually really nice
keychron switches are also pretty well factory lubed compared to other switches
The low profile optical reds?
Yes
I've got a board with low profile outemu blues and they're pretty shit comparatively
Well that's not a keyboard
Games made for a controller suck with KB/mouse the vast majority of the time, unfortunately
and most game I play are made for controller ... so I don't game much with my keyboard
For games that support either, it really just depends on what mood I'm in. Sometimes I'm sitting in my chair and I want to sit forward and focus, and in those cases I typically play with KB/M. If I'm leaning back and playing casually or have my laptop hooked up to the TV, I usually play with an Xbox controller
i use a ps5 controller most of the time
I like the idea of DualSense but I read that they're very prone to early analog stick failure and it doesn't make sense for me to get one just for PC
I've been using a Series S/X controller, I had another that I lost and then found but not until I bought a replacement lol
So now I have a black one and a white one
aight ordered some
Hey, sorry if this is a dumb question I'm just trying to look into my first custom build. I'm looking for a barebones TKL kit preferably with a metal frame, any idea where I should start looking?
I've tried looking in a few places like Idobao and keycult but they don't appear to have anything in stock. I'd also prefer to order my own switches and I have my own GMK keycaps
How do I yeetus my stabs?
Most stuff is gonna be from groupbuys or from extras from those groupbuys
I would honestly recommend scouring the mechmarket discord for some used or even new boards
What’s a yetis
I always say to checkout Keychron
Q3 and Q3 pro are all metal
V3 is inexpensive, relatively, and good quality, but plastic
Does Keychron sell DIY kits?
everything comes pre-assembled
yeah i wanted to try something I could assemble myself, or at least with my own switches / keycaps
they have barebones kits
plus their boards provide the tools required to take it apart and mod it
oh that might work then! Thank you
Wooting all day
Fastest keyboard and by far best firmware
Indestructable analog switch + heavily customizable
mine
i assume price is only going to go up once it becomes more readily avilable
It won't, because proprietary switches never make a high resale value
Plus not VIA/QMK compatible
Is it possible to mod a non hot swappable keyboard and if so how
What do you mean by mod
That’s not how mass production works !!!
Best way to wall mount keyboards?!
Wanted to share the keyboard and mouse set up. Going for the retro theme.
Like the base of the keyboard what if I put like that squishy foam in it
ima coop the wooting keyboard
so i recentkly got a keychron v4 and was wondering if i can change the backlight color ?
uh i can only change the mode of the light but can't really choose one
looks neat you also need ibm crt monitor
you can put it on the bottom but does not make a big difference

https://thockpop.com/product/longboi-springs/
Good ol thock pop
nice thx i wonder how they would feel i recently bought 50g bottom out long springs i was thinking of going 45g but idk if they would have return issues so i rather got a bit more
80g feels decent but causes so much fatigue for long typing sessions
it is so hard to find right springs since there are so many options
kailh manufacturer told me they can sell me a variety pack while tx did this but they said they stopped selling them
i guess light double or long springs would be sick
so it would balance the top and bottom
Keychron K10 with the drop MT3 DG dasher keycaps. Quite a pleasant look on my opinion but I may be bias saying I have the terminal which the caps are based on
whoa 100
i kept bumping my mouse into mine
I’ve got loads of space
You should see the terminal which these caps are based on
Love it man
hello i need some help with my keyboard, would somebody mind helping me?
my keyboard isn’t working and inputting into my laptop, it works to change settings on my rgb if i press on the key to do so but won’t let me type a letter into my pc
i really could use some help as i don’t know if it’s repair needed as some things are working
Check drivers, check USB port, check if it has a Windows/MAC input and change accordingly
If it's via/QMK compatible, reflash with appropriate firmware or just initialize it
It’s on laptop
Which usb port do i check
Ok
Nothing on usb ports
I checked drivers to
Would u mind doing a call to help me out?
If ur able to
Unable what's the keyboard
It's the laptop keyboard?
Yes
i think i like extended thumbkeys
ortho is awkward
glad i didnt make that 10x4 bar
wouldve been cute tho
You may have a connection issue tbh not sure
What do you mean extended
Like, 7u & 10u
I'm looking for an 80% keyboard (for work & gaming) that has very quiet switches from out of the box in the <$120 price range, any recommendations?
Uhhh, Apple magic is pretty quiet 🦗
Thanks, that's too low profile though--was looking for normal profile. I saw Cherry MX Red keyboard, but even that might be slightly too loud
Get something with silent red i guess
https://www.keychron.com/products/keychron-silent-k-pro-switch
https://www.keychron.com/products/keychron-v3-qmk-custom-mechanical-keyboard?variant=40256628392025
Try it normally assembled, with red switches. If it is still too loud, pop the switches out and swap them for the K Pro Silents
If you are looking for a new feel on your keyboard, you came to the right place. Keychron create the Keychron K Pro switch. They are designed to deliver a premium smooth and tactile typing experience. The SMD-LED compatible switches are fully compatible with our K series and Q series Keyboard Hot-swappable versions without soldering requirements.
The V3 is a fully customizable mechanical keyboard ready for any situation. It’s a great option to introduce you to the custom keyboard world. With its tenkeyless layout, QMK/VIA support, acoustic silicone pad, and double-shot PBT keycaps, the V3 is designed for ultra typing comfort and boost productivity.
Fun Fact: an 80% is just a TKL
very good. Red and Black is the way
Looks decent
Keychron optical red switches are very quiet unless you're really banging on them. I think they're actually quieter than the scissor switches on my laptop
A but tacky to me lol, I prefer a clean slate looking keyboard.
I used to like RGB, and I still do like being able to choose my backlight color, but I mostly prefer static color backlighting.
I see
I disable all rgb on keyboard and mouse.
My only rgb is on my case and front case fans which I set to a static color using the hardware controls on the case and that's it.
I don't use rgb much cause I never seem to be able to set it properly and don't want to bother with it anyway
And also less software bloat in the pc
lol i always set keyboard rgb to a static single color
i used to do that ... but not anymore
I have a monitor back light and my keycaps are not shine through ...
and my switches don't let much light through anyway
For anyone that has the wooting 60HE can is there a noticeable difference in responsiveness compared to other mechanical keyboards?
tbh from what i have heard it is super ove rhyped
That’s what I figured
I’ve only used the Durgod Taurus k320. I recently found out through Rtings review that my keyboard has high input delay. Just wanted to try another keyboard out with less
Can i ask how much that keyboard cost you? Looks very good
WTF
i thought it was like $500
Wow, and what switches did you use?
Oh hey jingle
got new lube from keygem trying to lube ktt kang white switches
still scratchy despite putting a ton on rails and legs
New keyboard fo today
Not really lol
It’s a 65 xt
Amazing
Don't be rude, drop the sound test
Clack is fire honestly
That's how I build my boards
That's how jingle does his too
Yep
There's a saying about clack v. thock that will piss some people off here
Here’s a pic of the bottom
Ooooo, that copper?
Yep yep
Middle piece is part of the stainless steel through weight
Can kinda see it through the plate in this pic
So it's a copper bottom plate and a SS through weight
Copper just kinda there for looks and a little weight
basically
I'm a sucker for some nice copper
Not patina though
Never saw a good patina on a keyboard
lol yeah Im not a fan either
Hold on a sec
Like this, looks atrocious
It's like a paint splatter hydrodip but a permanent reminder of sillyness
the 60he has switches that when you press it you dont have to press fully to have a butten press and that you can release like 1mm for it to reset
.
Hall effect switches
does kailh housing really not benefit from lubing
was told by a person that this is why kailh switch is not any smoother after lubing
the pain of wanting to buy custom keyboard parts outside of the US is real
my only 2 options are keychron and aliexpress because other sites will charge me 80 dollars to ship 20 bucks worth of switches
at least keychron has pretty cheap and fast shipping compared to the rest it only cost like 15 bucks and 9 days to ship my v1 from dongguan to poland
More like outside of China
true
but at least most companies ship to the US for pretty cheap
i'm fucked in poland
hyte doesn't even ship here so if i ever want a y60 i'd have to pay like 50 bucks extra to buy it from a third party seller
most things are 3rd party only
especially when it comes to keyboards and pcs
ltt made a keeb video!!??
that's just a relaxed type, vs the like 80 i get trying hard on my old membrane keyboard
What’s the best barebones kit to get if I’m tryna make the loudest keyboard
i put a singular razer green switch in my keyboard on the space bar
Listen to that perfect space bar switch
Yes my desk is a mess lmao
And my pc doesn't have a shell
Wdym loudest
Loudest
Well the class 60 is coming out in groupbuy soon and has a buzzer and a solenoid

[IC]Class60 keyboard by MM studio-Leafspring, Plateless, Buzzer, EC PCB
@simple flax
It’s so expensive
Welp you asked lol
$250 pretty good for what you getting
I bought some switches that u swap and make frankenswitches out of them
And I wanna put em In a really hollow keeb to make it just horribly loud and pingy cus why not
What’s your budget
Prolly like 200
Get a vortex board or smth
Vortex?
Idk why you’d waste your money like that tho when you can just get a decent board for $50 more and you can make it loud on demand
The buzzer will make them suffer more lol
hello, it's my first time using kbd fan, and I wanted to know where I am supposed to see what I am actually getting if I buy the keyboard, cause I want to buy that thing / https://kbdfans.com/collections/all/products/weekin-y-40-solderable-diy-kit / because looks pretty, but I did not find anywhere something that says me what's in the box (also I know it's currently out of stock)
Disclaimer The entire board needs to be self-assembled based on the steps and accessories stated in the provided tutorial. After assembly and soldering, the product will not be covered by warranty. Please also note that additional accessories will not be provided by KBDfans but (besides the plate and acrylic parts) can
Have you listened to it
Want natural sound tho
It’s not available
I said it, and I'm ok to wait, but idk what I will get in the box
What are vortex keyboard
It says there’s a tutorial for it
I did not see it, i'm gonna watch it
I would assume it comes with all the parts on that doc
is there a way I can just pay somebody at kbd fan to do it for me, cause it looks a bit too complex for my limited brain capacity
I believe it's only for their tofu keybaord
Nah it’s for all I think
Uh
It was an option when I got my kbd8x mkii
how am I supposed to solder that
Skills
is it an option when you buy it ? or how do you do it ?
Yeah normally it’s on the product page
let's say (not that it is actually the case of course) I don't have that ?
My Mercutio came completely disassembled, you had to solder on all the components. I hope you are ready to have 8+hrs ready to solder
I just don't have a heat gun or flux
or solser, whatever that thing is
I'll be honest, the board isnt gonna be for you then. 95% of people that purchase the boards like that are looking to solder the board themself
Kinda why they are created
it is simple to solder with the holes, but I never solder micro chips
Everything is holes
i'm ok to solder, I just never solder micro chips
Yeah just takes way too much time
I’ll stick to assembled pcb boards lol
ok, I think I would make them build it for me
With a build service included, you might as well search up a better board
also, is that layout with the odd space bare common ? cause I did not see anywere on the tutorial something about the keycaps
It's a split spacebar, common on 40's and some 60's
It’s not common but a lot of in stock sets have it
All Novelkeys and Cannonkeys pbt sets have split bars
Typically, keycap sets under $100 will have them either included, or people will use shift keys in place
i'm not really an enthusiat, I just find it pretty, I don't really know the different keyboard crap
You are looking at an enthusiast level keyboard
100$ for keycaps, my current keyboard is worth 100$
Under $100, such as nPBT, Cannon caps,
I don't care, it looks nice, its the primary metrics i'm worried about
The sets I mentioned range from $50 to $100
oh, under, I comprained over
Ya unless you understand plastic quality and looking for the top line of keycaps, sticking under $100 is where you're gonna be
If you like a more vintage aesthetic, shenpo caps are $30 on Ali
yeah, but it doesn't have the same look has the other one, and I don't like ergo keyboard, I type slower on thoses
How about this guy then
I only have women
No botches
I still prefer the other one
Then you godda bite the bullet and learn to solder on those SMD's since paying someone to do it will cost about as much as a nice Monsgeek
idk how much that is
Over $130
crap
Lol jingle
exept that one, do you have suggestions for a similar keyboard that can be soldered with limited brain power ?
I've been looking at some of the Chinese CNC cases for the 1800 and some of them are kinda fire
Mechwild clunker
Just some generic no brands
do you have another one, it looks kinda odd with the half num bar
Check mech wild's website
ok
yeah no, I still prefer mine, I'm just gonna buy a heat gun and deal with it
Look up hold to solder them on
yeah, I will check out tutorials on how to solder micro chips
looking for recommendations on a 6x3 split board with 4+ on the thumb cluster. currently have the sofle choc but find i never use the num row and some of the outer thumb buttons are hard to easily access. being able to put an encoder on one of the thumb buttons under the hand would be good i feel. But I do make use of encoders as well.
Currently eying the kyria (i know it has some further in thumbs but can use an encoder there and has plenty of others) or the hillside 48 (non splayed). any other suggestions?
also, while i'm here, I have my ifixit screwdriver that died lately, is the kbd screwdriver good ? (I assume it's theirs, because I saw it in like 15 keyboard pictures on their website) that thing https://kbdfans.com/collections/keyboard-part/products/nanch-precision-23-in-1-magnetic-screwdriver-tool-kit-set
Probably, I use an ifixit mako set
yeah, but mine just don't grip to the bits anymore, I have a pro tool kit that I got for free personnaly, but idk if their bits will fit in it, I tried with another screw driver and it did not fit
A micro screwdriver is still a micro screwdriver, I'm sure the KBD Fans one is fine
oh, it's called a micro screwdriver, I did not know, I only had screwdrivers with the bigger bits, I didn't know
It's called something else I'm sure, I just call it a micro screw driver
ok, I didn't know their was different sizes of bits
Compared to something like Milwaukee bits, they are significantly smaller
idk what milwaukee bits are but yeah probably, also, do kbd fan has an european warehouse ? I don't really want to wait a month for my keyboard + importation taxes
I have no idea, I don't think so
damn it, cayse like for exemple I bought a 15$ razor knife from usa, and I ended up paying 85$
sure, if you find my keyboard in the eu I will be happy with it https://kbdfans.com/collections/all/products/weekin-y-40-solderable-diy-kit
Disclaimer The entire board needs to be self-assembled based on the steps and accessories stated in the provided tutorial. After assembly and soldering, the product will not be covered by warranty. Please also note that additional accessories will not be provided by KBDfans but (besides the plate and acrylic parts) can
(and from a not crappy site that ain't gonna send my credit card info to a russian hacker)
are they unable to take a photo that ain't from the side ?
i'm critisizing their ability to take a photo, not you
i just went on google image to find one, and yeah, it is kinda the same, there is not the solanoid, but I don't really get why it is there anyway
I don't really care about it, idk why it is there, also, do you know what is the material of the base ?
Fr4
it looks really small
?
Sup!
I’m good, lol
also, what are these ?
Holy shit finally
I’ve been unable to access this server for 2 Months nearly
I acidentally left and the verify button wouldn’t work
And the mods didn’t really help so I had to wait
Hey guys, looking for a keyboard to go with my first PC, something not too pricey, that works well for gaming. Any recommandation?
50-100$ maybe, idk if that's reasonnable
anything Keychron
They look kinda goofy on Amazon but it seems better with the lights on, thank you! I'll look into it
These are extras
Lol
Eee
ok courier company managed to fuck up the address despite having all the information there
now its going to a random university which is named after the street instead of the actual street
even the postal code is wrong which is the only set of numbers that fit that option
Need a recommendation for a wireless (Bluetooth or dongle) low profile kb, quieter the better and short travel ideally
Currently running the Microsoft Designer Bluetooth kb (don't kill me, it matches my desktop but isn't great for gaming) which has been great for WFH
Looked at the Keychron K3 ultra slim but still looks kinda tall
Also looked at the Yunzii YZ75 which also looks chunky
Ok, I thought it was an abbreviation I did know
