Where did he put it on?
is it safe to buy krotox off of ali express đ
Yeah no that is not real krytox and that wonât do very well in your keyboard after a month
Trust me
I had fake GPL 105. I lubed some switches, the springs were quiet. Fast forward a month or two, was loud again.
dam
K lube is probably one of the better âfakeâ krytoxâs
lmaoo
Itâs a second to kyrtox
is that a good keyboard i might get it cuz of the black switches
i have blue switches rn
its not even mechanical
Just so you know thatâs not mechanical
In other words
If you wanna change switches later
Have fun. It wonât work
Other than other opticals
yea most likely wont be doing that
so like i cant hotswap it for other than other opticals?
Yeah you canât take a real mechanical switch and put in that board
a
Also just doesnât look like a terribly great option. I would rather save my money a while to get something like a keychron.
Yeah, but they are quality.
yea
In that case
Hm
If you really need a keyboard get the one above, however maybe save for a different one if possible. Iâm gonna go get to work soon, so have a good day.
Yep thanks and did u mean the first one i mentioned?
Yeah, if need be you can go with that one
đ
Hey. i am looking for a new keyboard. I have the Hyperx alloy orgins its good but some of my keys have stopped responding or take around 2 sec to register, and i am wondering if there are any fixes / similar keyboards with the same feel i could buy.

thatâs pretty cheap
especially from China
Trying to clean PCB of keyboard after a spilt drink. Using isopropyl alcohol - should I just dampen a cloth with it?
Got this one at Krazy Binz Liquidation Store for 25 CAD
It's a Shurikey Hanzo 002
Nice!
lucky bastard, hell of a cop
Fr
here
also, hi loh
gas dyt its a bad idea to mix choc and mx
uhh
bc i maked a pcb with both hotswaps
and i dont wanna pay for a second case
dye sub is not the terrible one right
kinda wanna customize
also, hi gas
i have too many ideas
there's bad examples of every legending method
yeah it won't come off easily
but like i said, there's bad examples of dye-sub everywhere
gotcha
Yeah no
maybe i should order a second case so i dont have to abominize switches
Yeah
you can turn off pings to replies in the menu there
macropad

macropad?
make a macropad
222 usd for 2 katanalike cases, a single alternate top for ortho, and the ortho 100 case... doesnt seem that bad
all stacked acrylic
maybe i shouldnt get so many dougs
170 for just one doug one 100ic
thats not a big difference for another few cases >.>
but also
idk if theyd even fit
i dont need a macropad tho
then again, prob dont need like
10 40s
cheeeees
also should i silk something in the middle, idk what color the casell be yet so idek if youll see the pcb
wondering if i should make a minivan pcb with coplanar xiao
case would be cheaper
and thinner
or qaz
ortho qaz
NVM xiao only has 11 pins
i forgor
bought more pro micros
because prototyping consumes them
oh god i just realized i used hotswap on the gamepad pcb
why did i not go soldered
smh
any chance these are real?
What makes you doubt them? Are they supposed to be GMK?
i'm wondering if it's official gmk red samurai
or if they're clones
the novelties keycap made me doubt them
none
they're not
I'm using kailh choc reds in my sofle choc and after trying key combos and other tricks I'm finding I want a lighter switch. I'm thinking about the kailh choc pinks (20gf) or pro reds (35). Anyone go through that and have advice? Or even using a mix of weights for different keys?
Those are clones, if you go onto drop (where the real red samurai is sold) u can compare them
One of my dumber purchases but I like it. O to save and X to render.
ill buy you all the gateron blues u want
Can someone recommend a good custom Bluetooth keyboard
Or parts for a keyboard
200-300⏠max price including wrist rest
thats the giga chad macro pad
Any keyboard haters here
keyboard community haters represent đ«Ą
ok
just bought a few pro micros
dunno what to do with all of them
but i have a few ideas
does a love hate relationship count?
terrifying
speech to text is the future
fax
shiver me timbers
Does putting fabric below my desk mat improve the dampening effect? AlsoâŠ.not using the kickstands
yes?
Iâve already diy foamed by case and just trying to eliminate that twangy reverb. At least anything I can do before buying a switch puller and lube
You might as well just go and buy silent switches
Any idea what keyboard is this?
Logitech GX Blue Switch tkl second-hand for $13, does it worth ?
13 dollars? yes
Then you should resell it for 50
ok, thx
easiest way to spot is the backspace key
the font on a gmk set is a lot smaller and has some padding on the right
K70 RGB MK.2 SE
quite expensive for what it is
considering it costs the same as a keychron Q6
which is also fullsize
but has a full alu cnced chassis
Plouffe once again demonstrating how he is still an asshat at the peak of dunning kruger
that mouse video hurt
missed a letter in a 3 letter name
- sl12 feels cheap cause light
Terrible on so many levels
- low production mouse has a 3d printed part
can't wait for the next esports major where everybody listened to his advice and got the porsche mouse
light usually means cheap, but not necessarily
I tried a Logitech G PRO X Superlight, and haven't used anything else since tbh
just like it did with powersupplies?
it's probably what we're used to from for example a kid toys clone of a real tool - much lighter
it is a stupid metric
but it's like an "illusion" so to speak
if it is your only metric
well, it's fine to mention tbf, but it means nothing real
it's not fine to mention "it feels cheap" if you only base it on the weight
yeah "the weight makes it kinda feel like a childrens toy, but don't let that fool you, because I assure you it's not!"
or something for example, is probably how I would phrase it
there is also a difference in cheap material/little material vs proper material
like for example how we use carbon to make things strong, but also light
not sure I've seen the video of the mouse review personally though, so I'm not sure how relevant to that this is atm
using less material basically doesn't change anything about price
it's not a review
yeah, it's not that simple
We picked out five different gaming mice from the past few years for Plouffe to get his first opinions on- and they keep getting weirder and weirder (and more expensive!)

âș GET EXCLUSIVE CONTENT ON FLOAT...
it's an observation on how you might perceive something, but it's highly subjective
it's just an entirely uneducated opinion
but I get it, I had the same impression when I first held my G PRO Superlight
that I certainly won't disagree with
prior experience has somehow taught us that heavier things are usually better quality
which leads to us being biased
yea and then we get logitech putting 26g weights in mice
that is just 1g less than the m1k in that video
those weights certainly doesn't contribute to the quality of the mouse đ
but changes the experience of using it, and probably holding it
you mean just like with powersupplies
where chinese companies put weights in their units
not sure I'm familiar with those
to make them feel more quality
oh, lol, yeah
so people stopped using weight as a metric
never heard of that actually
lmfao, right, makes sense đ
200iq move on the Chinese end here hahah
more like a 50iq move on the end of the people judging quality by weight
yeah, which is why it's such a 200iq move on their end, because they knew to exploit it
texture is probably the biggest annoyance I have with mine
I installed some grips on it though, so that helped a lot
I hate grips tbh
kinda had no choice, my hand lost grip of the mouse lol
yeah
and people complain about razers more textured mice
used a G502 Lightspeed before it
was much less of a problem, probably because it has some more shapes on it
it has textured sides
weird that no one talks about that
when i had mine, the paintjob was just so obviously bad
idk I feel like that one is quite well known
not as bad as the offcenter scrollwheels
I suppose i'm not in enough of the mouse servers to see those sentiments
the scroll wheel is also bad yeah
reassembling it is also weird
can't over tension the screw that holds in the L/R buttons or it'll feel really bad
Rate custom build, linear switches, PBT caps
ohhhhh. i like it. really love those blue accents. personally im less of a 60% person, but i still can respect a good build.
nice and compact though
can someone reccomend a mechanical keyboard for under 70$
Red switches or blue ones?
is the rk96 a good keyboard as an in-between for my ergo keyboard?
ok im considering getting a new keyboard, i want the play buttons and stuff and have volume control
i want the keyboard to be quite as possible and have rgb
one keyboard im looking at but not sure how loud it is or if there is better for cheaper but hows this
a keyboard im trying to buy for my setup because when i had it , it was a pretty good keybaord is the original apex raw keyboard from steelseries
at that price there's better imo
i mean if possible im looking for cheaper stuff
but dont mind spending that much on a keyboard
im more curious if there is better or similar that is cheaper
like the G915 is 30/40 pounds cheaper and a bit better (includes wireless). but it's not hotswappable (don't know if the corsair is)
please
do not buy corsair keyboards
buy anything else but corsair
biggest piece of overpriced trash in the world
gamakay k61
Does this keyboard ring a bell to anybody? It's Kickstarter apparently
The logo on the dedicated case
Eh, keychron v series better IMO
Well
Or K pro
If youâre looking for wireless
not much of a keyboard gal, it was just the one that popped out of my head
Hit 100wpm for the first time yesterday, impressive considering I'm not a touch typist
Awesome!
I use a hybrid style, I don't hunt and peck but I don't center my hands over the home row
do not get that
there are better options for cheaper
Best 90%/1800 compact keyboard according to you?
(numpad is very important but I want something smaller than a full length)
So I know this isnât the channel for this but, there isnât really a channel for it. Iâve done everything I could to silence my peripherals, on my keyboard? Satisfied. At least who cares is.
What can I do about my mouse
Just for context I have a Steelseries aerox 3 and a razer basilisk and would much prefer to use the Steelseries. While the basilisk isnât meshed out super light, itâs equally loud as the current mouse
Could I get a spacer between the switches somehow
You could swap out the switches in the mouse
tons of people have modded logitech mice to be silent
I'm on my way to do that
looks like a keyboard
It is
Looks like someone didnât get a box of rocks
Yipeee
How are you liking the switches
Yeah outemus are prelubed
it also came with a Otemu carrot, and an otemu milky silent
idk
Huh
Interesting
Cool
ye
ive got the silent on my sb and the carrot on my esc
yes
it was in stock
uh
man I don't remember
it's a brand that does multiple boards though
thanks â€ïž
Guys so I have this iPad which has a lightning port and I wanted to connect my mechanical keyboard to it so I used a type c to lightning connector. I connected the devices together but itâs not working. Am I missing out any steps
does the cable support data transfer?
Idk
Itâs the cable that came in the box
Ig it supports data transfer cause Iâve transferred songs using that cable from my pic to the iPad
Pc*
yeah you missed out the step where you couldve googled whether your keyboard or your ipad is compatible with each other
Arenât all keyboard compatible?
no.
definitely not with apples proprietary bullshit
Hm okra
Everyone I seen do it used the lightning camera adapter
Akko ACR top 75 | gateron milky yellows lubed | milk & honey key caps
brb about to buy those caps
My partner will go feral for them
hey im looking forward to buy a mechanical keyboard for under 100 euro, in 60% if possible, anyone has any good recommendation ?
what type of switches would you be looking for?
probably red since i want it for gaming
keychron v4
first its in USD dollard then not sure they ship in france
i believe there's a website for france
Odin 75 with gmk lavender
Why does the Corsair k70 mk2 have 2 cables and do I need to plug them both?
Thoughts on the epomaker ek68
thicc thocc
one of them is only for passthrough
It doesn't really matter which switches you get for whatever you do ... it will perform about the same ... what is important is to get a switch you like
@jaunty heath you see how one has the icon of arrows underneath the USB logo and the other is just a keyboard?
keyboard logo = for the keyboard
arrows only for passthrough
Anyone modded a gaming mouse silent before
Also to access a mouse I gotta really force off the pads. Would they still be usable after?
what would yall suggest to do with like 7 thumb buttons on a mouse? i am running out of things to do with them
and debating if i need this many in the first place >.>
but i also havent found many with 5ish thumb buttons
well, ig i havent been looking outside logitech
but compatibility issues annoying so i try not to stray from what i know
perhaps i should set up a machine for editing the profiles at some point
Trying to find a board:
Full size (preferred) or TKL
"Floating keys" ie switches are sitting above the plate, with no lip around it
White, non-aluminum case
removable USB c connector
per-key RGB, north facing LEDs
So far seems like a board like this doesn't exist, anyone maybe know?
youre looking for a low profile board.
play arma with it
I'm not really looking for low profile, but even if I do go with it, is there any options?
"floating key" usually are just refered as low profile
gmmk has a couple
so does drop but their boards are shit
Need not be low profile. Full height switches would be preferred. There's plenty of garbage amazon board thats are 'floating' with full sized switches. But lack every other feature on the list
oh, i see
low profile case. sure absolutely
gmmk2 96% is quite close altho the aluminum is kinda meh, but could be a good option
why dont you like aluminium
what does bad shine mean
the glow that comes off, not preferable
more uniform reflection i'd say
esp with the sand blasted texture (or whatever it is) has a grainy appearance
Dudes gonna be a room with no lights on.
The reflection property of the keyboard is crucial
đŻ
I have a epomaker keyboard and it has weird driver issues might be just my model tho

I really wanna talk about how shitty Steelseries repair service is. I bought a SteelSeries Apex Pro of a guy for 10 euros. He had to cut the cable to receive a new Keyboard, why did he want a new keyboard? because of two glitching LEDs. These LEDs cost maybe 3 Euro for a set of 15? Well, I replaced the Cable with one of a Logitech G Keyboard (Because SteelSeries doesn't offer replacement parts) and some of the broken LEDs. Is it really that hard to offer a good repair service for their own products?
yes
like legit, paying a professional to repair a 100⏠product might be more expensive than just sending a new one
realistically most peripherals have very easy to repair problems like failing cables, switches or in the case of keyboards, keycaps
all of those (usually) are like 30 minute jobs at most
unless you are logitech then it is like 90 minutes for a broken mouse switch
I have seen other companies offer better repair services for the same thing. So its not a matter of price and or logistics (guessing here) But then again what light does that shine on SteelSeries, the Apex pro retailed at 200 Euro at launch here in Europe and basically just saying "Ouh just destroy the keyboard further and waste some resources." Doesn't seem like a thing a company wants to represent in todays day and age. But have to agree its probably not worthwhile for them, I am just a little mad because, as you can read, the keyboard works fine.
On the topic of the Apex Pro, a magnificent piece of Keyboard, typing feels faster and my WPM went up a few notches and movement in some Games feels smoother. (But I dont have the explanation anymore to argue with: BuT i PrEsSeD tHe KeY!")
Asking again but anyone has a good reference for a pc under 100 euro (in France) ? Preferably in 60/75% format
what peripheral company offers actual repair services?
not aware of any
For that Matter: Logitech, sent in my G413 and received aproximately 2 weeks later repaired, not exchanged. Trust, Which I absolutely thought wouldnt happen but it did. well of course that experience is different for everyone else, maybe I had luck but... I wont complain.
that is uncommon though
like for logitech
I can imagine they hired people for the romer g boards though

me trying to reroute everything after realizing i put the encoder in the wrong space
Anyone have links where I can find pcb foam and plate foam for my tkl?
Lol just make it dawg
(It was mid)
Has anyone here used a hhkb keyboard and are they actually good?
I wanna, drop alt 65%
what are some good keyboards like the ibm model m
Ibm model f
even worse
I'm thinkin I'm just gonna make myself a pcb and case lmao
Goal to take 2-3 months I think
Theyâre good
Iâm not the biggest fan of the sound but Iâm planning on buying a hhkb soon enough
opinions on custom keyboards?
That's my keyboard đ Switches: Tecsee Purple Panda
my keyboard is the entire meaning of overrated âbudgetâ keyboard
kbd67 lite r4 gat oil kings and xda profile black and pink keycaps
I had 2 normal mechanical keyborads before this one, and it just holds much better in terms of build and feel inspite not costing a fortune đ it ain't perfect but I like it.
Oh gas67 is almost half cheaper
and the keyboard before that is my gk61
I like the wood case and it adds a lot of weight to it.
i filled my keyboard with questionable foam
I filled my with a silicon.. was it worth it? Maybe not
damn
idk how to turn my rgb off in via so its always in rgb
Oh I feel you.. Software is the biggest issue. That's why I said it's not perfect
Hmm.. I believe on my it's: Fn + [
And you change modes with Fn + ] as well
stock keybinds right
Brightness is Fn + arrows
But your software might be different as my keyboard was build some time ago đ
And I reset keyboard settings with Fn + Q
When I enable something weird by accident
Via?
Hmm.. I don't remember. I gave up on pc software and just sticked to built in the keyboard.
Horrible
reasons??
I wouldn't generalize so much. It depends on many factors: price, aviability, etc đ
too much schmoney
well there are budget options that are around 60 usd
There are reasonable options that would still cost less than some top keyboards from Razer, Corrsair etc
thatâs so much
yeah and most gaming keyboards will cheap out to use membrane instead of actual switches then affecting ur gaming performance
how would membrane vs switch affect performance?
I đ rgb and razer
And I love freedom of choosing switches đ
you can desolder switches on older razer keyboards, they use ttc switches.
we dont have to desolder to replace switches
on most keyboards
but gaming keyboards you have to
hi tharblers
a big majority, a lot also donât even come with pcbs
how would they function without pcbs??
you buy the pcb separately
It's more effort than building a custom keyboard with hot-swap pcb. My keyboard is hot-swap and it was super easy to install new switches đ
thats after the groupbuy ends
no lol
what makes you think that a membrane is faster than a switch
they both register at similar times if not the membrane being faster
optical switches:
hey prof
hi
Every switch is different. There are some switches with very short travel distance. Not my cup of tea though. Just went for solid tactile.
well he literally responded with his opinion on custom keyboards with horrible and just because theyre too expensive
they are :(
nah
wtf how is 60 dollars too expensive
whoâs paying 2001$ for a keybord
real
when there are gaming keyboards selling for 120
why would you pay more than 100 for a keyboard
cus i like nicer things
thatâs not very understandable to me
$150-200 on a keyboard that will last you many, many years.. why not? And if it's hot-swap you can eaisly disasamble switches to clean the keyboard or replace them with a new set one day.
well there just isnât any point in spending for than 40 bucks
same player
literally the same thing as saying
why are you buying a prebuilt and not a custom build
why wouldnât you buy a pre built
exactly
yes but do you have the custom parts that you have to source separately on the pc?
buddy thatâs how it is with any obscure hobby
is youâre gonna have to do research to get the best
I had 2 keyboards before. Each one lasted 2-4 years only. They were cheaper but it was still a waste of money. The one I built is about 3 years old and it still works fine and looks like new. Quality pays back sometimes.
that is why im trying to say
Not every custom keyboard is great. Especially when you don't pick up parts carefuly. And you need to put some work to it. But if you do it right it will last you for years.
how old are you
30+ đ

stupid question but can you make a non hot swappable keyboard hot swappable
would u have to buy another pcb?
yes, youll need to solder in your own sockets

Would this work on any keyboard?
What are people using to tent their split keeb halves? I bought a couple small laptop stand legs that fold out which work ok but I'm not happy with them.
I thought about something that can use a tenting puck but I feel like I could also drill a hold into my bottom acrylic plate and hot mount a metal screw so let into it too so I just need to buy a mount like this camera mount. Any other ideas? I would like something that could work with a slight forward/back tilt as well.

no
this needs to be placed on a seperate pcb that's made specifically for it
Whatâs up
Haimu silent I've heard
was gonna ask how to open my keyboard but I answered my own question
Lol
Guys is the ek 68 a good pick for a keyboar
xD
Did superbuy not pack it properly
I added extra protection for an interface I bought from xianyu and it came in a box like 4 times itâs size
nah this was a diff g80
one I bought from China was black and a 11900
This is a regular 1800 I bought from a friend
I canât afford shipping from tb twice man đ
Smh imagine not living in sg
We get direct shipping from tb here
So much cheap shit
bro you gots to send me some shit
I need more cheap dye-sub but shipping will actually kill me
either cheap dye sub or og ansi hmmm
ah that
i hate that feeling
$300 not including shipping and taxes
I can build it, Iâve rebuilt my 3 prebuilds enough times, but what I donât know. Is what, is the absolute, best respectably quiet, full travel, non tactile (so prob a linear) uhhh,
âmilkyâ build.
While being a 65, no reason for portability, full aluminum shell, honestly like, if nobody has better aftermarket suggestions, I was just gonna get a Drop Alt with browns, some extra foam, tape, fill my spacebar with jelly tape and call it a day
please do not get a drop alt
one of the biggest wastes of money in this hobby
what country are you in
and are you willing to wait
Exactly why I came to you beautiful people.
USA
Wait? Well. I really dislike paying for things then waiting for them
that narrows down out options a bit
this is one of your stronger options
Bakeneko65 Endgame feel, affordably priced CannonKeys is proud to offer an affordable in-stock aluminum keyboard with great sound and feel. Originally designed by kkatano, the Bakeneko65 is an open-source keyboard featuring an o-ring gasket. An o-ring between the plate and PCB provides friction to hold the plate/PCB
Yes. My biggest concerns about this expenditure is sourcing
Awesome, sleek, great layout
great value too
its going to perform much much better than a drop alt
for switches I would go with
great silent linears
they use a silencing method that does not involve any silicone so no concerns about mushiness
Aluminum case, check
Gasket mount, check
Flat keycap colors avail with check
Narrows all my boxes
what colors are you looking for keycap wise
Flat, I really enjoy a grey with low tone accents, pref on my larger keys
But a uniform color arrangement is fine
oring is going to be different from your traditional poron gasket but I would honestly recommend this over the other poron gasket options in the price bracket
cherry is p similar to oem and offers a lot more options
for grey with accents how are we feelings about beige
Iâd like to experiment since this will be my actual first instance of, well. Yeah. Not gamer brand
Yes.
21kb has a lot of beige options
Okay now, this is prob gonna sound very stupid but
another couple websites i would check out for keycaps to see if anything hits would be novelkeys and cannonkeys
Uhhhh, more like, well I canât explain it. But typically the kinda fonts used in terminals and text editors
Oh I see what that is now that I google the word
Itâs more of itâs relation to other letters
i would need a couple pictures to work with here
Mwah đ€
this isnt rlly color based but would you prefer a font like this
Honestly that second one there is stunning
I love the emblem keys
second set fits right in your budget too
Youâre great thank you
now i would just grab some general supplies and from there you should be good to go
lube, switch and keycap pullers, switch openers
things of that nature
Got all of that already, is keyboard lube a necessity? I mean. Dielectric for my Razer Huntsman TE on everything moving has been decent
Doesnât spread very easy, might be worth it though
Now this is the âtough questionâ
Can you, âestimateâ the best combination (these switches are probably gonna help a lot with this) to minimize âpopâ in favor of, lower sound signature
In terms of foam, unm. Stabilizer bandaids. Keycap filling of any sort idk
I do tend to, be up when my SO isnt. And the âpopcornâ is the worst
Hereâs a demonstration of the worst offender
Would an aluminum case benefit me? I know everything plays a crucial role in sound signature but, wouldnât aluminum be cause for a larger reverb?
beautiful @gloomy patrol
im at $330 including all post expenses
you got everything exact within the random number I threw out there. A lil underbid actually
so thank you
Hi guys,
I am looking for a TKL keyboard with qwertz layout which I can take with me when I am not working from home. do you have any recommendations? (price should be sub 200âŹ)
this was truly a major pain in this ass for me at first
want mine?
it might get u fired.
đ I'd rather not
the feeling is mutual. If you wanna build? well, those silent switches are heavily praised online.
I would j throw dielectric on the wires if you donât want to open everything up
You shouldnât hear much of anything with the silence switches tbh
thats what I was told about putting orings on my keycaps...
it made it worse.
(im just joking, this is perfect)
((I hope))
I just cannot give up mechanical typing
my office has Logitech K120s on the workstations and these membrane keyboards just feel awful, which is why i want to bring my own
God I donât know what we have, theyâre like, a ripoff apple keyboard. Tiny. Flatter than 10 sheets of paper with rubber stands
I tried both my steelseries and razer keyboards, both with stabilizer lubing and deskmat at least: both to the disdain of my neighbors
bro if your neighbours have a problem with you using a mechanical keyboard due to noise it's not the keyboard that is the problem
i really like cheap logitech office keyboards
they feel cheap but they are really responsive
not literal neighbors.
its just a way of saying co-workers nearby you.
and yes, its the keyboard that is the problem. Imagine going to, a library or something and whippin out the blue build
that library could be 5000 square ft and you'll annoy tf out of everyone there.
@gloomy patrol can you help me build a keyboard
sure
can you talk my spanish final
i need to write an essay during that shit
no (lol)
Moondrop Quarks
any tips for making a split keyboard without a case quieter? i have a sofle choc with the MK caps, and a thin piece of foam in between the pc4 plate and pcb but its still pretty clacky. I also have a acrylic bottom plate. i oiled the switches on the left side and don't even notice a difference from noise level of the switches on the right half. where in my keychron the lube made a huge difference.
Lube will likely not make a big difference to your sound, as much as it would improve the travel smoothness.
You can also custom-cut rubber sheet or silicone sheet of 3mm thickness to add mass to the gap betweeen the plate and the P[CB, helping with dampening. Foam merely reduces reverberation.
@glossy sleet what can be done about initial key "clack". I just ordered myself a full build for a silent mechanical keeb, but for the meanwhile. even ever so gently tapping my keys makes them clack. Is this a...switch rigidity problem?
maybe key height
switch tension maybe
Which switch are you using? Is this only in the bigger keys with stabilizers?
well, between both steelseries apex pro, and razer huntsman TE, both linear opticals
both do this
Ive already done all the home cooked mods you could ask for
and its more persistent on my letter keys
non existent with my stab keys
Oh. Interesting. I was just about to request video
Do younot have stabs???
my stabs are fine
my small keys are too fookin loud
IKR. Stabs are dead silent. Good job tuning that.
I fail to understand why your linear optical switches sound like clickies.

Folyfill, foam, tape, silicone, etc
How thick?
PE foam, if not the insulated type (usually black) can buil;d static charge over time and fry your PCB. Please use a 3mm thick rubber or silicone sheet instead. I lost a board to PE foam static very recently.
Also, back to your switch poppy sound problem, try using thick PBT plastic keycaps. What you have are thin ABS and they do make this sound no matter what you do.
Get thicker PBT then.
^ me pulling keycap off
Like more than 1mm thick.
well, the difference wont be on this board at all
thanks for the tips moon
appreciate ya
thats about 4 hours of effort.
will this succeed in not pissing off a housemate
Nah. Likely not if your keeb is wake-sleepwalkers-up loud to begin with
I dont understand....I do the silencing mods to not feel obligated to bin my $140+ keyboards. The end up feeling so much better to type on....
but subsequently become more obnoxious
is it possible stuffing PE foam added this "popcorn" flavor to my sound profile
anywho, hopefully within 2 weeks Ill have my Bakaneko65 https://cannonkeys.com/products/haimu-heartbeat-silent-linear-switch?variant=41075252789359
and those caps
get that mechanical feel so I can late night >type< not self aware of every keystroke I make
Yes. That is called a marbly sound, and yes PE foam did that.
I wanted to fall face first into my keyboard reading that
Soon to be Holy Grail switches, once production stops like it did for the Bobagums
then realized I'd probably scare my neighbors dogs.
Lol. I'm working on silencing my Keychron V1 too.
im an amateur to this hobby, fill me in?
No?
A company called Gazzew made a switch called the Boba Pink. Silent linear mechanical switch, almost completely made of POM plastic. It was revered as one of the best silent linears on a budget. Production ceased recently (I think), sending prices for the existing units steadily rising, especially unmodded or unopened switches.
Well, I think so. Haimu hearbeats are really good.
how large of a role does spring tension play in sound profile
Bobas were stopped for production because the boba blend (translucent housings) yellowed after time
theyâre fine switches but not âgrailsâ per se
Ah.
most custom keyboards recess the keys into the shell....not like you'd even see half of them anyway
Moderate, but particularly noticeable in certain configurations, like with all-metal bodies.
Also gazzew doesnât make gazzew switches
outemu does.
ahh, and thats my last question...
aluminum case. I'd imagine, thats...higher sound band reverb heaven
or am I hopefully wrong
I just learned that PE foam diddnt dampen my sound rather just made it marbly so I need to not have expectations with this shit anymore
Boba just refers to the housing material, you could be talking about boba u4t, u4, LT or Bobagums
I think youâre talking about Bobagums, the silent linear.
Thick foam = higher pitched
