Hot keycaps
I like my current keyboards
Was more looking for a resin keycap with grass
Does anyone have a black snake 60 to sell me?
WKL
What keycaps are these?
Of course it’s a filco
GMK Noel, Hiragana Alphas
oh hey gas
Hiya
you like the snake60 wkl
Side profile looks boring and I don’t really like soft corners
I think those are sold out
W
Which you’ll probably never have a chance to get again
Like final mouse
unless on aftermarket or through a re run**
Finalmeme
how can they call themselves final mouse when it fucking breaks in a week
L mouse
Had my viper ultimate for 2 years and it still works pro
W
It’s been kinda weird to get used to the shape but it’s not like I move my hand a lot
The only razer products that aren’t garbage are the death adder line and the razer blades
8k dpi
What’s polling rate?
How many times the computer asks the device what’s up
Razer Oranges are good
???
What
What’s oranges
A switch
Bro did not just say razer oranges are good
They r
I need help.. anyone have site suggestions for getting keyboard parts?
im new to custom keyboard so im looking to build my first hotswap
Try keychron
thanks @pastel drift do you have any recommendations for frame?
No sorry
ah no worries
what size
im thinking 80%
so tkl
yes
keychron Q3
hmmm 150-180?
Do you wanna build a custom or a prebuilt?
both i just want options
i was thinking the ducky one 3 but i dont like the white plate
it get scratch easily
Duckys are not recommended, trust me you can get way better
well any suggestions?
Well there's keychron, you can get their V3/Q3 kits if you want to build with your own switches and keycaps. Or go with the assembled options for only a bit more
V3 is plastic and Q3 is metal but they're both great
There's also the Zoom TKL slightly above your budget and it's a group buy but that would be beyond premium for most
Or the tiger lite that's good value
That's a 65%
wait only 65% can have that profile?
Oh you mean high profile so you don't see the switches?
Yeh that's fair, I think that's an NK, they also make a tkl https://novelkeys.com/products/nk87-entry-edition?variant=41740390662311
That's their budget kit, most colors sold out but I saw gray
This is zoom tkl https://meletrix.com/pages/zoom-tkl-ee-configurator
This is tiger lite https://kbdfans.com/products/kbdfans-tiger-lite-keyboard-kit
This is Q3https://www.keychron.com/products/keychron-q3-qmk-custom-mechanical-keyboard

Keychron Q3 is a fully customized 80% TKL layout mechanical keyboard packed with all premium features and endless possibilities. Q3 is an all-metal keyboard that allows customizable capabilities for every key switch, keycap, knob, and stabilizer. It’s made for your personalized experience and a more comfortable typing experience.
hm so what does that include?
and the first one you sent was perfect is kinda like the profile im looking for
So a kit generally includes everything but the switches and keycaps
So the case, plate, pcb, stabilizers, sometimes a case and foam
ah so all the ones you sent are hot swap tho right?
don't feel like doing soldering
Yup, I don't consider solder boards anymore lol. They're fun projects when you want to but not great convenience
cool ill def take a look at thank you
now what kinda switches would you recommend? I really enjoy MX brown
so kinda looking for something similiar to that
The brown switches
Light tactiles are akkos specialty, highly rec
The Akko pom browns are Coolio
are they kinda the same as browns?
What kind of sound would you prefer from your keyboard?
Yeah
Basically why they’re the same color lel
what's the point getting the Akko pom over brown then?
Cherry browns are blasphemous
oh my
Yeah it's a whole rabbit hole lol
not really
so what are the thockest switch? lol
90% are just garbage recolours
Boba U4T
i just learned that term lol
Also the gold standard of tactiles tbh
Yeah fax
They're pretty deep sounding and tactile
Well you buy packs depending on your key amount but I think they're like .70 per switch?
u4t boba stems in moyu black housings*
Durock poms are nice as linears
me no gusta linear switches
Franken switchings too much work for the results imo
Depends if you’re going for a super endgame build
Which ones have you tried
so @stoic tangle is the Q3 high profile? i cant really tell from the picture
Yeah if you want best no matter what I get it, but most don't need or notice that difference
and I've tried pretty much all cherry mx
i dont like linear from my experience because they're too sensitive
It's high enough to not see the switches yeah, most are I think
That’s because you’ve been using light springs
Linears aren’t too sensitive you’ve just been using garbage reds
Hyperglide black supremacy
I like light linears but you can try a heavier one like gateron ink v2s
Blacks are king in premium linears
But yeah default "thock" tactile are boba u4t
quick poll do you guys prefer rgb or non rgb for keyboard
It’s why it’s actually called the big thocc
dam @chrome raft seem to know their thocc lol
also ontop of my previous question.. what size are yall keyboards?
40%
I like a bit of subtle rbg, and I prefer 75%
how you do function with 40%
Layers
lmao @stoic tangle i was gonna say the same thing
And drugs
Also boba u4t lookin mad cute
40% is objectively superior
It’s the inevitable conclusion of keyboard degeneracy
hmmm so should i get the keychron Q3 and just modify it with the boba u4t?
One day you will arrive here too
should that be the move?
Get barebones version
Barebones has no switches or keycaps
Save money and no ewaste
yeah.... but it's only $20 more for caps and switches
wait how's the gateron G pro brown?
NOOO
If you know for sure you'll change out the keycaps there's not too much of a point though
I mean they're not bad
breh keycaps are sooo expensive
Man you shoulda been here last week for black friday, cannonkeys had 80 dollar mystery sets at 30
stahppppppppp
i didn't know what to look for back then
also my girlfriend is the one getting the keyboard stuff for me for xmas
so i don't wanna get her to spend too much
then I guess you could get it preassembled and add your own switches but you’ll have to deal with mid keycaps
yeah... even tho in reality i already spent hella on my pc so i dont feel like spending hella on her present as well lol
Or you can find a keycap set on sale somewhere
I mean it can be a later upgrade
yeah yeah
but $184 tho... yikes
that’s cheap
it bouta be $200 after taxes
I think my budget keyboard ended up costing 200
Yeah it's budget in this world sadly, but you don't need the metal Q3 if you wanna save
$200 for a 40%?
V3 is half the price
lube is expensive
hmmmmm what's the difference between the Q3 and V3?
Tiger lite is 120
V3 is not thocc
why use lube when you can use spit
V3 plastic not metal
It’s plastic and poker mounted
oh fr?
Q series is gasket mounted which is thocc
Honestly you’ll never achieve thocc it’s impossible
Wait wait
You like tactile right
yeah
Tactile and thocc?
yea
TOPRE TOPRE TOPRE TOPRE
huh?
YESSSS
you lost me
oh nah
TOPRE TOPRE TOPRE
i just saw the switch
No they're not, they're too young!
and oh nah
It's like membrane on crack
nah
wrong gif

Ayo?
Speaking of topre imma combine my 205g0 w/ 105 and get one
where is kbdfan shipping from btw?
Ligma 😔
That, V3, or nk87 would be good value and you can mod them to be thockier
Yeah v3 isn’t bad on a budget
And you can afford nice keycaps then
V3 barebones + boba u4t + keycaps of your choice
Try and find at least 1/3 on sale
breh the nk87 is like $225
Not to mention try and get everything from one place so you don’t pay 300282 in shipping
You're looking at the metal version
ooooooo
@glossy sandal how many drops of 105 do you use per 10 switches in bag lubing?
where would i even go to get the boba switches?
I’m thinking of combining some 105 with 205g0 to make thinner lube for topre
I got mine from aliexpress
~63usd
But I'm fine with that to pay to get free shipping cause keeb sites charge big for shipping
Damn that’s expensive
Yup, bobas always are
XD
I'm considering a keychron k4 w the gateron reds as a first hot swap mechanical. Thoughts?
K?
alrighty i guess ill just wait and consult with the girlfriend
thanks for the info lol
V4 would be notably better if you can get it
ong
I want a numpad.
Sorry forgot they don't line up
What is better about the v line?
Or lose the numpad and you can get a macropad instead 🧠
I know literally nothing about this.
Nah that’s too expensive
V is more enthusiast oriented with better build quality and more “features”
K is wireless mainstream line that’s mid
Filled assembled V would be nice if you want the reds
V5
Wish more companies would consider a left numpad so I dont lose mouse space
Then I'd be interested
It is wired, correct?
Think so yeah
So, better build quality and a better platform for future customization.
Too bad it's sold out. I guess I'll set up a notification. The knob seems like a cool option.
I just have a separate numpad
I have a hard time with the idea of not having one, so I'm just trying to find something more compact.
60% is so small. It's crazy.

Pardon my noob, it is showing
Stupid question, how do you take system screenshots without a print screen button?
What do you mean Layers?
Thanks for clicking on my dumb video. I do other dumb stuff as well that you can check out down below:
https://twitter.com/ItsJordanCosta
https://www.instagram.com/espressokeycaps/
https://www.popcornpeeps.com/
Same but wish i didn't have to sometimes
Nah you're valid, 40% is a monstrosity to many veterans too lol
Bruh thats like saying you don't need two shift keys
But, my winkey, and yeah I can reprogram one of the four left to be win but then that leads back to other issue lol
Idk, sometimes I feel like people go too far for compactness, like get a bigger desk
That's exactly the issue I'm saying lol, that's like sacrificing a shift key, you should have the mod options on both sides imo
Some things are classic for a reason
I can maybe see sacrificing one win key but both? Nah
spc gear gk630k vs razer ornata chroma v2
Both are the same price
I just wanna rock body ody ya
what does that even mean😭
I don't know, just try not to think about it lol
Oh but to answer your question, neither tbh just a keychron V series
Layers are like uhh
Changing your keyboard into a mode where it’s your own custom inputs
Be it stuff like Prt Screen, Volume up/down, zoom and stuff like that
I don’t think you’d have a board that can support layers so I would just say set a keybind to Prt Screen
So my mom needs an illuminated keyboard for work (home office) because it’s hard to see the keys when it’s dark. Can someone recommend a non-gamer looking illuminated keyboard?
Am I seeing this right? This kit include switches? https://kbdfans.com/collections/diy-kit/products/kbdfans-tofu60-dz64-rgb-hot-swap-diy-kit?variant=40019986579595
Specs Case: Tofu60 aluminum case Structure: Tray Mount Typing angle: 7° PCB: DZ64RGB Hot-swap PCB (with Per-key RGB on top, no RGB underglow, Type-C interface, QMK/VIA support,SKU:DP4192) Layout: Fixed 64 keys layout Plate: Brass/Aluminum/Polycarbonate material Stabilizers: Cherry Screw-in stabilizers 60set Foams: PCB
Nvm silly me it’s $196 not including caps
not worth it anymore
tofu so thock tho

Is that a group buy boRd
I don’t like group buys
no
it will turn you into pro rgb gamer
can go dollar to dollar with the greats
beating out keycult
what are group buys?
a way for designers to get interest free loans and maybe deliver a product in return
mans made it sound so sus
it is, plain and simple
the why you phrased it made it sound like a 50/50 of getting the product or losing all your money
when most of the time you get what you paid for
maybe doesn't imply 50/50 though?
ofc
even geon knew he couldnt compete
so he left the rgb gaming market to the pros
If you choose group buys from reputable companies they're similar to preorders or indiegogos. You order it, wait half a year or something it shows up
Most high end boards are group buys pretty sure
hot
lmao its even worse if its a straight up company
think about it, would you give apple a interest free loan to maybe deliver airpods?
yes
for the smaller buys its understandable, the whole point of group buys were for small batches of items that were cheaper when bought in relative bulk
but my point still stands
what you talking about?
you're giving the designers a interest free loan with no guarantee you'll be getting the product you paid for
no matter how reputable they are
wat?
kid, its not my problem if you can't read
Kid it's not my problem if you don't get the hobby. They're common and rarely have problems, especially the respected groups
I don't Like them per se, I would obviously prefer in stock
ello selix
oh I know that, chances are I've been in the hobby long before you even knew about it
I've seen what happens when a gb organiser just disappears
if you want to join one, go ahead
im just saying you should think of them as interest free loans with no guarantees
Yeah I don't buy anything from a new company, but at that point you're also saying that indiegogos are bad. Everyone knows that lol
No they're basically the same that's what I'm saying
Sometimes they do them on indiegogo actually like Zoom tkl AE
time to learn python
Nah you gotta learn machine code, only fake programmers use coding languages /j
i wish i knew what that meant🥲
Oh lol, it's the 1s and 0s that the CPU takes as instructions
boing boing boing
See this guy gets it
heyllo
smart moment
Got the keyboard guys! This is how it sounds!! ☺️ 🎶

Clean, not too flashy @pastel drift
hot
i think it's a pretty standard board, kind of odd mounting style (I hate centered legends)
I got big hands
But yeah you're right everytime I press a key my finger is getting stuck
I drop ameyal on my keyboard And now some switches are left pressed after stopping pressing xd anyone knows where to get a cheap switch opener?
Your nails will be good enough. A small sacrifice they'll grow back 😈
let's go my mom is buying the keyboard on firday
My friend thinks the k6 looks cheap bruh 😟😔
This isn't cheap plastic right guys!!!!
PLEASEE 😭
I couldn't find one with aluminum on amazon, the scammers they are
top 10 scammers
kek
i don't wanna lie to you bud
ken beans
Shutup
you're so mean
BRO
in the mean time im going to look for switches and keycaps
i might not use cream switches
Help me

Switches together

W trip
bet
Roblox is a global platform that brings people together through play.
lol
oops
I don't play Roblox
hoi
boi
Hi
Bye

Check epomaker
They got pretty good keyboards for cheaper
its cheap plastic board that lasts you for a year
What are you talking about?
I have the sk61 from epomaker that I've been using for over 2 years now
Absolutely no issues
that was an exaggeration
I see
but i wouldnt recommend it
If you want a better quality keyboard with premium after market keycaps then pay the premium price I guess
Or really do your research
I'm sure there's a few good keyboards for under 75$ usd
@glossy sandal i decided to go with a ck68 base with gateron oil kings
both were very cheap and are decent
the switches were like $42 free shipping for 70
gonna mod the stock stabs and see if i’m satisfied with them before i buy replacements
My godddd
Premium price being like $200
And even that is considered budget
many
if by keyboard you mean case/pcb/plate kits for under $75
Is there apps that let you change the RGB of each key
So you can basically pixel art keyboard rgb
Or color code things like overwatch does
(please ping on response)
Yeah depends what kind of board you have tho
No I want to get one but like a numpad bored
depends on your keyboard pcb itself
some have per key rgb some don’t
whats the cycle layer key in qmk
cycles the layer
Coolio
Make sure ya get keycaps that fit
?
68 key, 65% key requires different sizes on certain keys, if your keycaps aren’t dogshit they should accommodate it
That is, if you’re looking for aftermarket keycaps**
yeah the keycaps i picked specifically list support for 84/68/64 key layouts
1.5mm thick blank black pbt
awesom
the ck68 comes with precut foam for inbetween the pcb and plate and i have some for inbetween the pcb and case
just mod the stabs and slap the switches in and i should be golden
QK65 extras during Christmas
Stabs are probably the hardest bit of that
balancing and lubing should be all you need (maybe clipping)
i’ve lubed stabs before and it wasn’t bad
i still have leftover dielectric grease from last time
yah
Hello
I wanna buy a good wireless keyboard and i was wondering if nuphy air 75 or the new hero is good or if there are better ones
Air75 is good if you care for low profile
Im going to see how the halo is different from it and could get the halo even tho its bigger
What’s the hero?
Nuphy halo
Oh
gas
Hi
@royal patrol was hungry smh
post a pic of your daily driver keeb
I’m not home rn but I can send what I was doing last night
👹
This one is using Epsilons
Originally had oil kings doe
oil kings are smooth, can confirm
good
Is razer ornata v2 worth it for 40bucks?
Isn’t that a membrane keyboard?
if you already have a keyboard that works then i’d say no
Fr where?
you can save up money and build a custom board for less than $100
F
Fr
my main one broke I use some office keyboard
it was also membrane
lol
Prob missed Black Friday, I got too many switches though
Sorry
Wrong reply
at what point does it become too many switches
I got it on black friday I have a customer policy that I can simply
don't pickup it and don't pay for it
got it on black friday for 40bucks
is that worth it, cause I got like an hour to pickup
When it’s double my amount of keyboards lol
I mean if you don’t have something that works rn, it is what it is. There won’t really be a good keyboard at 40 dollars
I mean
I can get a cheapie mechanical
my friend has it
and is pretty satisfied
it's a polish website
sry
Kailh browns or reds would be better yeah. If you can go a bit higher a royal kludge board would have hot swap so you could easily upgrade it later
Idk what switches to get
You could probably upgrade this one but you’d need to solder
Yes I know
it's the same price as ornata
but ornata is discounted
Whatcha looking for
Hot sound
it's probably better quality
The ornate? Nah cheap razer boards aren’t great, it’s not even true mechanical
Okay two more questions: Will kalih brown be noisy? And 2 Is there a big difference between 61g of activation and 50g. Is 61 too much?
But if you want the brand then that’s it’s own value
it's 40 bucks right now, much better than what they called it for at the beginning (100)
61 is fairly standard 50 is lighter. I prefer light but it’s preference you need to try
It’s probably never actually at 100, even now I see it for 50 on amazon
So not missing out on much
It was in 2020
Yeah and keyboards have gotten way better, thank god lol
Browns will be louder than reds but not too bad, way better than blues
at the time it was basically the same
only the sound
I thought that too cause I just had some Logitech “mech feeling” boards like g910
Turns out big companies just dont make good keyboards
I am my whole life on membrane
My friend said the spc gear 630k is okay but it's nothing crazy
Yeah like I said there not gonna be a great keyboard at that price, 100 is generally a good starting point for great custom boards
But better than fake mechs
Someone I know of have nearly 1.5k individual unique switches
I’ve seen a couple of people like that in keyboard discords, they scare me lol
They sell for like nothing used
they lose all their value because they’re shit boards
In my country just 12 dollars less
Maybe less of a market there but still, shows their true worth. If you just want it you can do it, it’s just my advice is all
I, what does that mean lol
Good sound
that sounds like a lot of money
are they a keyboard content creator?
So do you want loud, quiet, high pitch, low pitch
“good sound”
Hmmm
oil kings are really cheap and don’t need to be lubed if you don’t know what you want
mhm
here
don’t bully me i lost my keycap
but
oil kings
salad mixer
it’s a long story
i was washing them and it kinda opened
and uh
Short
@pastel drift answer him
Disrespectful
Idk
Mobile is trash
bruh
u want like clack or thock
Hmmmm
I mean switches won't always sound the same depending on what they're in
yeah
but you can generally get an idea
@pastel drift do you have a board and housingalready?
Ye
what is it?
qk75
Hi
KTT kang whites?
QK75 isn’t out yet Phil
yeah
I meant I’m getting it
I'm tempted to get it
i want now
money :<
Ez
Can’t wait
For zoom meeting
I don't think I've agreed with you once lol, but that's why this hobby is cool, preferences
Obamus that is
Imagine
I don't think I'm the possessed one at this point lol
Hmmm
I refuse to spend more than 200 flat on a keyboard
And i love gaskets 🔥
If only I could ban you lol
Obamus so silly
Spend 300 then
skill issue
200 moneys
Poor shamed again lol. I'm fine with 300 total including switches and caps but not the kit, that's a hard line
There is nothing that would reasonably justify going past that for me
L
keyboard enthusiasts trying to find a layout with the least amount of keys that’s still usable
Somebody tell me I can live with a 75% keyboard.
I just feel like I will miss having a num pad
if you regularly use a numpad then make a full size board man
don’t drop size just because other people do
It isn't that. I do like the idea of a more compact footprint. They also look nice.
I'm not constantly using the numpad....I just like using it when I need numbers.
idk.
100% keyboards are huge.
Yeah, I'm looking at the keychron v5 because I do like the 1800 size. It is oos, unfortunately.
At least the one with the knob and red switches.
I do have feelings about the small 0 on the 96%
Why are south facing leds a thing?
So it is for people who want the underglow but not the shine through?
Sure?
I find it really useful because I don’t use leds or rgb
And no issues with cherry profile interference
I don’t care for them
I’ve got decent lighting
I like indicator windowed keys but other than that
I don’t really care for them
where should i look for keycaps?
They had a great bogo deal for BFCM, maybe they'll be cheaper second hand now
Novelkeys too, good sets. If you just want cheapest good sets AliExpress imo but it's a long wait
i have a weird issue i wonder if anyone has experianced similar. My keyboard(s) had what I thought was a dodgy @key so I purchased a new hot swappable keyboard and I have the same issue, even if I swap the switches. The only way the key is press is to push and hold it, this goes for both keyboards. Any one have any ideas what could be causing this? I’ve also tried a new usbc just in case
What key
.@
Can you send a picture of the board
i can but have the same issue on two completely different boards
Yeah I just literally forgot the layout in which @ is on the board 💀
It sounds like more of a computer issue and not a keyboard issue
yea i agree
I would check drivers
yea i suppose never checked keyboard drivers before ill try and look into that now
hey is it a good idea to buy a new keyboard so you can replace your currently broken one, not cosmetically, but input wise, aswell as take the keycaps from the broken keyboard and put them on the new keyboard?
It’s totally fine to salvage keycaps
aight thx
Make sure they’re the same layout and actually compatible
yeah they are
i.e membrane domes and mx switches
they're both blues
Alright cool
why
No kidding
No
Actually yeah
But fast keyboard is cool
How is it overrated bro
Damn
They're wastes true
Well well well, look what came in the mail
My $30 is probably only like a fraction second slower then the fastest
My first mechanic keyboard (almost)
My keychron came too lol
Same day niceee
Keycaps come in Friday
Keychron V1
Like I'm supposed to know every single keyboard and case name
Imaging being obamus
Don't listen to them gamer man

Don't listen to the haters
I ain’t hating
Obamus is a stinky head
???
And plus divinikey didn't had anything smaller afaik
???
How’d you record the sound test
They only had v1 and 3
if you still haven’t unboxed

Does the k6 really sound that bad then lol
wdym
are you fking serious 💀
At this point me reading Obamus' messages are going to make me slam my skull into a wall
Real
Very real
If I didn’t know him beforehand I would have him blocked
Y'all know irl?
No
Rip
First time as Darth Obamus, secondly as August Dunn, a third time as Sight
⚠️
Maybe if we just keep calling obamus cringe they'll lose power
it feels
oddly heavy
maybe because my current keyboard is a cheap membrane
so im used to how light it is
anybody knows a good mousepad 👀
A big picture book

They’ve got silicone weights don’t they?
Based
its a logitech k850
Doctor suess gives the most fps
Ohhhh I thought you were talking about a keychron
MB
Oh yeah
I’m pretty sure they have silicone weights in KeyChron
Quick google says this so I’m unsure
(This image includes weight of switches and keycaps) ^
might just be you’re used to really cheap stuff
true
They have silicone pads but no weights
well i mean my monitor feels pretty light
Weights aren’t really a thing at this price point
Mechanical keyboards in general are quite abit heavier
strong asf
maybe q has them
It doesn’t
It’s just heavy because it’s a solid piece of aluminum
Possibly isn’t there a polycarbonate or plastic casing version I can’t remember?
No?
The aim of Q series is a lineup of aluminum gasket mounted boards in like every form factor
Cool
afaik keychron doesn’t make pc cases
I’m new to this shit I’ve just got a really mid GMMK compact
I’m gonna do a better build I’m just looking for a place to start and tryna find the shit I like
Where?
Search for one near you?
looking for a decent keyboard one of those that light up and i can chnge the keys on
any ideas also i would like a full size r say 85%
What do you mean you can change the keys?
There isn't a 85%, do you mean TKL, or 75%?
yea I think TKL is considered an 80%
as far as i know, i have used rubber dome/membrane keyboards for as long as i've be using computers. could someone explain to me why mechanical keyboards are better than rubber dome/membrane ones?
You can buy it elsewhere
They aren’t, in terms of inherent “better” there is no best
It’s just more customization and I guess more feedback
Also a lot more premium
They all do the same thing, I guess it’s more of a quality of life thing
ok, so it's all about personal preference. thanks
Keebsforall, Cannonkeys, Novelkeys, KirballsKeys
Are they all out of the u.s
I could list more but I think keebsforall should have what you’re looking for

That’s why I listed them
Lol
I mean like outside
Ohh

What's the difference between the gateron milky yellows and the pro linears
There's gateron milky yellows and then there's a pro linear version of that same switch, is what I meant.
Difference between the ones you gave me are that milky ones don’t have entirely “milky” housing, just the top, and pros are prelubed
Damn no pros then
So they're the same switch
Just one is pre-lube that's it
The KS-3 is prelubed and has all milky housing
If you’re gonna hand lube just get the dry ones
They’ll feel just as smooth (probably smoother)
