how does a tab keep ur binds on the board

you just configure them on the tab

nvm im just gonna get fully assembled
Just get some switches
I don’t see how not getting it fully assembled would change whether or not you can pull up bios with it
but uh

are red switches or brown switches better
@glossy sandal
@onyx summit
im watching a video
Ok I can up my budget to 50 bucks
from what
30
so you're raising 50$ from 30?
For keycaps that’s fine
Has anyone in Canada tried & successfully received a Keychron 10% coupon from their website? This is all I get when I try to get it
There aren’t any actions to complete 🥲
Those are so pretty!
oh i though that was for the entire board
yeah those are fine
i don't really like the colors but they'll work
im blocking youi
Well the 50 dollar ones are too expensive after shipping WHICH IS 25 BUCKS
I pay 50 bucks for some keycaps
Now I have to pay 50 percent for shipping
Yup that's how it is
For me it's 40usd to ship keyboard from keychron
The trick is they include tax so it ok
Granted I'll ever buy again from them 😁
Fuck it ill just get these Razer Doubleshot PBT Keycap Upgrade Set for Mechanical & Optical Keyboards: Compatible with Standard 104/105 US and UK layouts - Mercury White https://a.co/d/fTzZREU

What
sin
i forgor
Its that or ydmk
Told you
It’s really not that bad for a budget keycap dude
Also razer QC can be trusted
If you want to get father in the hobby I’d recommend saving a bit for a premium build
We talking like 500usd
nah you will never get father
maybe
What’s wrong with cherry though
Sure it’s overrated but it’s not bad either
He has north facing
Also cherry is not overrated it’s the greatest profile ever, gifted to us by God through Moses
Oh get mt3 or something then
His splitting of the sea was a metaphor for my heart splitting when I don’t see cherry profile keycaps on sale
cherry profile is probably the profile I like the least along with oem ...
Could someone recommend me a good kb to buy for about a 100$
Is that your complete budget?
Including keycaps and switches?
Nothing beats a fully assembled v3 from keychron on a budget
If you want 60% sure
But check for vendors, the main website isn’t the best way to buy
Where could I find vendors
Keychron V3 is the next release of the Keychron V-series which brings accessibility and affordability into custom keyboards. The V3 is an 80% TKL layout which follows in the footsteps of the Q3 with a tray mount design. By incorporating a different mounting style and utilizing an ABS plastic casing, the changes signifi
If you’re in the US it has free shipping over 100
The barebones is 50$
Does it ship everywhere
Israel
Wdym
Anyways try and find a keychron V series board either fully assembled or for barebones you’ll need switches and keycaps
Barebones need only switches and keycaps yeah
But if you want 60% get v4
If you want TKL it’s v3
Anyways you’ll want to get it from a single supplier
Yeah
Ill get a tkl ig
Whatever you prefer
Look into switches since you’re new
There’s linear and tactile
Ill get tactile ones
I think thats what I have in my current oard
borad
board
how many keycaps do I need to get
Yeah get 90 switches
But keycaps aren’t usually single unity
They come in full kits
Like this
So should Iget a kit
You don’t really have a choice lol
If you get a barebones you’ll need switches + barebones + keycaps
Also look into tactile switches and don’t just get Mx browns lol
How do I find keycaps for a tkl
A lot of people consider the boba u4t switches to be the gold standard of tactile
What website are you shopping on
The one u sent
Btw I found the GoPolar Azure Dragon V2 Tactile Switches are these good
Usually keycaps are sold like this
Which site should I buy em from
Just get a set that has this part
Cuz I wanna stay in my budget so around 100
The same site where you get the barebones and the switches you like
Don’t go shopping on multiple websites for different parts
ok
Since you only need 3 parts it should be easy to stay on the same website
Find a supplier you like and get either a fully assembled keyboard from them or a barebones, some switches and keycaps
Make sure they can ship it to you
Pick one from here
Make sure they have keychron V series tho or you’ll need to get it from somewhere else and then it’s not worth it to pay shipping twice
Ok
Okay ty
https://drop.com/buy/drop-entr-mechanical-keyboard?defaultSelectionIds=970394%2C970396 should I just get this keyboard @chrome raft ?
is razer renata keyboard good?
why?
o
you’re better off with a Logitech g pro keyboard
Anyways before making your decision talk to other dudes in this server
@glossy sandal @amber tartan
I recommend a v3 with cherry blacks and a WOB cherry profile keycap set
But that’s me
Cherry Mx hyperglide blacks
Cherry switches are the famous mechanical switches renowned with its smooth and tactile typing experience. Fully compatible with our Keychron K6 Wireless Keyboard Hot-swappable version, and other mechanical keyboard uses Cherry MX style.
Yeah those in red are nice too for beginners
You could try and get everything from keychrons website
Those are linears tho
Like I said don’t rush and take your time
For tactiles I recommend boba u4t
Linears I recommend milky yellows or cherry blacks
Where could I find the boba ones
Any keyboard supplier really
Keebsforall, divinkey, ash keebs etc etc
Before finalizing your decisions ask for second opinions on Reddit or here
I trust gas and night which I tagged
Imma go read now pls don’t mention me I have adhd
what do you need
Bruh it’s 3 am 👽
If you want, the K series is wireless no?
It says wireless or wired
Yeah
It should
If you can find one cheaper than a v3 sure
They’re fine keyboards especially the pro variants
It costs more than the v3 but its in stock
nvm I cant get a wireless one from there
Their cables cant fit my case
Any recommendations on wired kbs under 110$
What mouse do you use?
Tbh with these Black Friday sales I’d seriously recommend just getting something from Logitech on your variant of Amazon
glorious model o i thin
Free shipping, pre built, good easy software, etc etc
Sales are for 40% off where I am
should Iget 1 from Amazon then
This is an incredible deal honestly
24% off, legit keyboard with good switches and good looks
It’s not gonna win any smoothness competitions but if you’re on a budget and don’t wanna pay one fifth of it to shipping them if you can get free Amazon shipping then it’s worth it
Just think it over before the final decision
The custom keyboard hobby is difficult and expensive since it’s so niche rn
Ok
One fifth of the price of everything goes to useless shipping
You can get great deals on Logitech or razer or even glorious but I’ve never seen a group buy on sale
They’re always so expensive
this is the one right
There are other options too
But yeah
I think Israel has Amazon
Must have prime shipping too
I tried to order my pc parts from amazon but they wanted like 400 bucks for shipping
-_-
your choice
Im gonna look for a different one since a new one costs double the price
Got any other brands u recommend
I dont know if the v4 comes with a wire
It doesnt say on their site
nvm
I like keychron and Logitech
It comes with a cable don’t worry
But the cable doesnt fit
I need a 3.0 one
it comes with a type c
On both sides?
Then you’ll be fine
Yeah you’ll be fine
Keychron uses usb c on the keychron side
The usb that attaches to your computer is the a that you have
It’ll work
Make sure to not pay too much for shipping
Okay
Get everything in one go
Im gonna order it from keychron
If you get it pre assembled then ok but if you don’t, don’t forget to get switches and keycaps too
Both are should be available on keychron
Look up info on the switches
I chose the blue ones
Clicky?
Keychron k pro blue
If that’s what you like I guess but you better have done your research
Blues are not liked by many
Hi
Make sure you like them by looking up clicky vs tactile
they sound pretty good
Don’t get peer pressured into not picking the switch you want
Go for blues if you like em
that only applies to switches
Not crimes against Christendom
blues are such crimes
I ate a Bible once
browns sound good too
Get those if you like em
Nvm 45 dollars for shipping
What is a good mechenical keyboard for about 50euro rn in the netherlands? red/brown switches or something quiet
preferably full sized or tkl
I'm tempted to get iQunix F96: Joker Wireless RGB - Cherry Brown, on big sale here
Down from 1499sek ($150) to 799sek ($75-ish)
If you duys don't mind helping me
Personally, I hated brown switches. I don't like red switches either, but they were better than browns. I had the cherry MX browns and they just felt so mushy and my typing accuracy went down. Although I don't really like red switches either. (MX cherry)
Bro what... Keychron wants $20 shipping for a keycap set...
I want to replace my g915 switches with Navy Choc switches https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8T5kjkf6y5o&ab_channel=Shiftypoo269
Kailh Navy Blue Choc switches make their clicking sound with these little click bars. With the clear top switch housing you can see those things going.
These are installed on a Pancake keyboard I bought from MKUltra
https://mkultra.click/products/group-buy-pancake-keyboard-kit
Switches were purchased at Novelkeys
https://novelkeys.xyz/collect...
They wanted 50 for a keyboard
That shipping price is absurd for keycaps
$1 per keycap lol
Crazy
Anyone have a recommendation for other companies that have keycap sets for a Keychron K2
Can't really find anything good
All are over my budget
does this mean my gmmk works with cherry even thought it's north facing
You have to temper your expectation of 'good' at 50 Euros
since it seems like the parts i picked didnt go on sale
ill just wait for my birthday to buy them
maybe ill get more money to upgrade from v3 to q3
Cyber Monday is still a thing, right?
yeah but most of my parts are like as cheap as they can get so its best for me to just get money for better parts
doubt keychron will discount v3
Probably not X.X
I hope they discount v4
Does microcenter have lube for switches even
maybe
Woah what the fuck
They sliced 10 bucks off
God I hate how parts come from different websites
So shipping isn't free
About a sales tax off
you cant stems are different, unless you find another set of choc compatible caps
because f ing logitech bothered to modify the stem holes
i already know
It annoys me. I tried dremeling some stems
for a keycaps standard that almost no one use
its like try harding too hard from logitech
But if you replace the switch, then that is no more
There arent full size or tkl compatible kailh choc v1 sets to my knowledge
or you have blanks
maybe there is a cheap ass set from kailh
they aren't. The switch itself is propietary but the stems into the pcb are the same as the standard ones
yes, its kailh choc socket
mhmm
or spec
but not the same stem holes
because they bothered to make it incompatible
I found out the hard way lol
its stupid, why going to that extent to do another mold
that's why I want to replace my switches entirely in the first place. I want transluent edge stems

its not like there are compatible sets out there to begin with
the rgb is so ugly and muted
aliexpress actually has replacement for the 'gl switches' which is what logitech calls them -.-
yeah for the actual switch
i meant for kailh choc v1
I think the modification were actually good. The stems on the normal choc switch keycaps seems a bit wobbly. Like the little hook end might have a value to it, but otherwise I hate they did this to my keyboard. Having no option to replace these shitty ABS plastic keys makes me want to toss this keyboard out the window
honestly its not a good mechanical switch to begin with
I am a huge fan of the low profile.
shame because the board itself has good battery life
imo now i grew out of that low profile thing
this is nearly the perfect keyboard other than the lack of keycaps due to propeietary stem in the caps
i mean board doesnt sound good 😄
this keyboard is completely level. Instead of the Z, A, Q lines being different heights
I hate that and most keyboards seem to do that now adays. Z obviously the lowest and Q row being the highest. That's a 100% deal breaker
i mean its how its kinda supposed to be on cherry profile
maybe you need those uniform profile keycaps
I just need everything being the same height
Well depends on the angle of the keyboard
I do not want to have to lift my finger and with long nails, it's even more dramatic
I really wanna try a layout where the rows are uniform instead of offset, but that would probably be weird
It's also about actions per minute. I feel like it's alot lower when I have to raise my finger even a few mm more every time. Like I want my fingers to kind of like slide on the next row of keys
You mean ortholinear?
nah low profile, but ortho wouldd be the next step forward
honestly its harder to adapt but its a good concept
But it’s cool
yep
one advice would be to skip preonic and go plank
the higher row is harder to reach
I just used it since google wasn't up
having the 4x12 row force you into using more efficiently the layers
Preonic is cool
but then you find the weakness of the plank layout
QMK is fun to play with
its too close from left to right hand
then youve got stuff like big dill and big dill extended
but lack of wireless is a deal breaker
so split is the step after
i'm sure you can find wirless one, lemme check
Oh don't worry. I do not need another freaking keyboard x)
I have 2 logitech wave keyboards. 2-3 mechnical cosair keyboards, and the g915
I really wish the logitech wave had a mechincal keyboard. It is still my favorite keyboard of all time
i have around 28 keyboards
I have about 7 if we’re counting consumer boards
not disclosing the one i bought already and are coming lol
I want a white TKL 915 but they don't have blues avaliable at all for the white version
Get a Q3
so then I'd have to spend another 75-100$ on replacing switches
yewah id advise either getting the blue or red
plus an ass of time
because kailh choc tactiles are ass
the best linear kailhs are the lightest ones
I like browns
sub 30g
trust me kailh choc browns are garbage
Like rgb mx garbage?
I wish the force on these were heaver. I have alot of accidental presses with my nails brushing them. I think these are 60cm
no like i think membranes are better
not cm. Whatever the unit is
g
oh it's cN
what
yeah
centinewton
1gf = 1cN
i'm sure i saw some specs sheet using that unit
but you mostly see around people using g
I've never seen gf on a spec sheet for switches
which would be gf to be correct
gram force
and direct conversion is centinewtons
1:1
1 cn = 1.02 gf
yeah approximatively close
I only know that because I googled it just now since I never heard of gf
I didn't know that before
good to know if I ever see it pop up somewhere!
sold mine kek
I would mill max a g915 before I got a keychrone. I do like QMK, but I like media keys more
actually, there is a keychrome with a nob on it, but I still like a full set of dedicated media keys
that'd be interesting if you had actual keycaps choice lol
Layer hater
on custom keebs i use layer one for that
on those with arrows i use fn+up and fn + down
Actually, not a layer hate. I should get more into layering so I don't need to have some special attachment for a keyboard and have multiple keyboards
twas joke
and on arrow less keebs i have fn + ' and fn + /
I wish I could pull up via rn
I would show you my media key layers
but you do make a good point. I could imagine just having a bunch of layers instead of a series of key combos
layer zero
Layers are awesome
I use a ton of global hotkeys generally and I'm constantly running out of space
I got salty with QMK trying to create a way to have 3 knobs. One to control discord/voip programs, one for general purpose, and one for chrome/music
Turns out that wasn't as easy as I hoped for =.=
I assembled a little macropad so I could play with QMK
very good
Didn't find what I wanted just gonna buy all the stuff online
Keychron is reliable to just buy straight from their site right
I'm also thinking about vice-versa
If I should buy keychron products from other sites
yes, but you might have proxies in your region also
depending from where you are
here in EU we have some proxies
What do you mean
I do really like the custom options with Glorious keyboards
the problem is the keyboard I built ended up being like 300-400$
and it was still wire only
wire is the way
Amazon pls pls
the more you go in price, the less you see wireless
proxies/vendors
I think my only wireless custom keeb build is my ikki68
so a budget one
I just like the option to be wireless so long as it doesn't effect performance too much.
That is the 2nd complaint
You nailed the 2 things I hate about that keyboard
doesn't mean we value the same positive or negatives!!!
It's terrible and a grease magnetic and looks awful
i think i can be objective on strength and weakness
I want my double shot pbt with transluent edges sooo damn much
I didn't realize how small 60% was lmao
great software if you skip the qmk level of custoimization
Those hyperX keycaps I used spoiled the fuck out of me. My keyboard use to be so pretty with those
great battery life especially on the tkl model
battery life is insane.
I use it 8-20 hours a day every single day and I almost never charge it
Nope they aren't discounted
Why not get a qk75
I do have RGB light turn off after 1 min or no usage. if it was on 24/7 the battery life drains every few days (obviously)
True
It’s up for preorder rn
qk75 or zoom tkl good entry level customs
Qk is wireless
it has wireless option yes
or it has the option for wireless connectivity
Can't seem to find any of the parts I'm looking for all in one place with a proper discount
I don't need a new keyboard. I don't need a new keyboard
oh wait, I don't think this model has QMK
easy, dont buy from scummy people that tried to steal keycaps design, switch brand and other stuff
What's the lore?
Thoughts g815?
get a g915 but otherwise it's nearly the perfect keyboard other than 2 (or 1 for g815) glaring issues
i think it kinda sum up the story
Copied from Alexotos, right @forest pebble ?
Is the one on the left the alleged one copied
lmao
Pretty sure that’s the one
well its a bit more subtil, its about the general design idea
I don’t follow it because I don’t care about gmmk
and the other set too
or most keeb YouTubers for that matter
heavily inspired without mentionning it
I was just looking for IP issues because IP law is pretty fun. I don't think this would fall under it
Allegedly, they were not heavily inspired by it, but that is what they were going to say anyways
I've seen alot of gradient colors in the last few years becoming pretty hot for keycaps
they arent companies
but to me so far worst thing was the holy panda trademark they tried to deposit
Is $18 for gateron yellows good
Glorious will try if they can to maximize profit regardless of the community, that's how they show it at least
I don't want them to be cheap garbage
for normal consumer it doesnt matter though
gat yellows are good starter switches
Thanks
I'll have to order them to be here next week since Amazon wants to be stinky
Well, more like I don't think they could have a patent or copyright on a color gradient for keycaps
I get what you are saying, but you don't have to be a company to afford IP protection on your product. Atleast in the US. idk what it's like elsewhere
why is that the worst thing?
because its a name of a frankenswitch that was popular in the community
later sold on drop
There is nothing wrong with that in the Us atleast. You can have a bunch of trademarks with the same names, so long as their industries are completely seperate and it's actually not an issue
Most articles you'll read about trademark this word or that word, for the US, is just kind of legal BS
so they did what they should have been since the beginning
glorious panda
ok
holy panda was already quite popular and used as a name for another switch
its not legally reprehensible i think
but its still scummy move
also when via came* to the gmmk pro
Most laypeople think everything to do with trademarks end up scummy x). Although sometimmes it totally is
I have seen some crazy stuff x(
Getting a trademark is typically a CYA function. It's more costly to get a FU letter from someone wanting to take you to court over a potentially frivilous claim
in a general sense i'd avoid the gmmk pro for double key stroke registering issue ? or is it called ghosting ? i dont remember
both are really bad O.O
maybe they fixed on the new models
I would have a conniption fit.
but i haven't look at them since its not what i look for
a what ?
I did read about that. I think it was allegedly fixed in the pro version. The hardware is slightly different. Only the pro support QMK
a conniption fit?
yeah i googled it
I'd be extremely pissed off and raging
i know now lol
That verbage might be a US southern thing
English is not my native language 😄
ooo what is your native language?
French
I still hear about people having issues on the gmmk pro, did they release a second revision under the same name ?
its noticeable on vc's 😄
I heard a firmware revision fixed the issue, but you can never know just reading self reports here and there
I got g815 was 30 bucks cheaper and i like the cable
i see, the one who told me about his issues also had a broken hotswap socket on a key, but its a separate matter in my opinion
I think the g915 that is 150$ is the TKL version anyways, not the full sized.
tkl good version though 😄
Other than lack of clicky/blue switches. And no g keys
but I want a white TLK one really bad
If the fullsize has a great battery life, it's better on the tkl
The difference should probably just be the power consumption of the additional rgb , presuming it has the same battery
From my experience the black ones don't age well
I don't want a black one
I already have that one full sized
It's not really black either now that i think of it
It's like grey
Yeah some kind ofdark grey
but not grey
black abs keycaps. I just see giant smudges on all the keys
It's not a great abs blend indeed
The new logitech keyboard (the one with the cloud mousepad) comes with PBT keys
Compared to domikey or gmk sets i saw
It's also cheaper. I was so salty
The only thing I like about the GMMK keyboard is I wanted a cotton candy type of keyboard.
If you are in for a gmmk pro, look at the QK75 😁
Wireless option since you were into that
It is maybe pricy for someone not in the hobby, but a quite accessible option as a custom keyboard
180$?
Still cheaper than my keyboard lol
oh, there probably aren't switches included
There is not
Without keycaps and switchzs
I'm glad I figured it out within a second or I would have felt stupid
There’s a bundle you can buy with select kailh switches and qk keycaps
Bundle is 235
wonder if the pcb has rgb places to add diodes
But I guess you have to add shipping
I need this
I was looking into acrylic rainbow puke keyboards. I really want to be that obnoxious

Goodnight.
Maybe look at something like the Lele60
I don't think it has RGB
Upgrade your GK68X/GK68XS Who said that you can only upgrade your switches and keycaps? The standalone cases allow for you to upgrade your GK68XS from the comfort of your own home. deal breaker 😦
I've gone full send at this point with RGB
Imo RGB is useless for me, better room lighting is better to me
But it's all preferences
All my RGB in my espresso machine holder and embedded flushed in my desk all goes into my pc
What
Leaf60 ?

is knob worth it?
If you want one, i have a friend who is selling a leaf60 hhkb polycarb, she is like me in the EU though
Any good keyboard that is
60% (minimalist)
scissor switch (cause tactile and quiet? cause my laptop keyboard is more quieter than my brother's red cherry switch)
wireless
I don't care if it's not backlit
and purpose is pretty much gaming + typing notes
unless mechanical keyboard can also compete with the quietness and tactility
hmm ok
they're not
Check out topre
One bias is maybe his board is loud
Like I know someone who bought one of those cheap hk gaming rk61
Bruh so loud
Lol
it's cosair
No way.
Not a quality factor to me lel
It's my phone camera so the quality isn't great
You are now my archnemesis 🤣
@pastel drift
I needed a stand for my espresso machine!
This is
and I figured I might as well tie everything into my mobo
Impressive.
I might look into having better coffee setup though
But it’s so
extra
What do you say 😁

I was half joking I'm not THAT much of a BB fan
any alternative that's like even more low profile? I should have mentioned that I prefer low profile
I have an international archnemsis! sweet
Hhkb you mean
thanks! After spending a year designing and building my setup, this was a cakewalk. It only took 2 days with all the staining and stuff. And the total cost was about 15-25$. But I had everything on hand to do it already
Well at least I'm not a fan of SA or mt3
Those keycaps profiles are too high (for my taste)
It's funny but lately i start to buy more and more the same variation of components
MX blacks, cherry clip ins + C3 wire and XMI caps
But it's good to try different stuff
so no options for me then
What are you reasons for low profile?
At first when I switched from the g915tkl to custom keyboards, i used a wrist rest
Then i raised my chair height (well by having something else than that cheap wooden chair)
And now my desktop is high enough and the chair high enough and I'm comfortable with normal height keyboards
Though for custom keyboards i avoid anything over 7-8° of typing angle in general
me trying to envision my typing angle is not working out in my brain
looks nicer (heavily in my opinion)
and seems to be nice and low enough that I don't have to raise my hands to type over, but that could also be avoided with wrist rest like you said
It's in my experience a factor of how you are sitting on your chair, how far your keyboard is from you and how high you are relative to the keyboard
A lot of variable imo
One issue with raising hands on alot of keyboards is the height of the rows
I like 8-9°
lolol
I wish I could imagine the difference between 5 degrees verse 9 degrees
Trying to find a frame of reference
I'd say i don't have very big hands but I guess I do have long fingers
You’re talking about keycap row heights?
I guess the f-row is the one where you'd notice the most the angle and then the numrow
yep, although is it the keycaps or the switches?
oh, you know the height difference might be in the stem itself
Keycaps
Like does it have a deeper, erm, hole or not
When we speak about typing angle its about the keyboard frame/case itself
Since Keycap profiles can change
OHHHH
That went over my head X(
Btw oem keycaps you find on most consumer level gaming keyboards are a little higher than cherry profile keycaps
also the bed is above my head, if I rest my elbow (my hands is at the table's edge), it goes about 7cm below the desk
Ah what
Hmm
What I was asking if the cherry mx compitable keycaps stems have different depths to them to create the height difference
I never consider the different in the depth in the keycap itself being responsible for the raising of each row
I read that completely out of context
are 90 switches enough for a 75?
Yes
Yeah, my brain was on rapid fire and I couldn't say it in a more direct way lol
Yes
ok cuz i just bought all of my parts
A tkl has around 87 switches iirc
v1 bare, keycaps, milky yellows
Awesome
