And polished stem..
Yes
On ks9 yellows
They have the same factory lube application as ks3’s
if anything ks9s are smoother
Because they’re the newest ones
I believe they're nearly identical but I prefer 5 pin switches in general so I do ks3
Personally my go to switch are MX blacks
Durock pom are nice
Alpacas too
To start with a gateron ks9 yellow is a cheap and good one to learn lubing i think
Or the milky top ones
I don't have tried that much switches on the tactile side (i did start With gat browns and Zealios but switched to linears)
One switch i tried and liked are the gat oil kings
Good options if you don't want to lube, however it's rather on the expensive side i guess
Is the wan show up?
idk
Y u askin in keyboards dawg
Because KEYBOR based 😌
I’m down to learn to lube 😏 if I need to
Hipyo says the keychron v1 is super good for beginner enthusiasts and on a budget but I think I’ll really like the milky yellows
Bet
Yeah tofu60 was good but the market has advanced past it atp
Alright bois I’m a lil tipsy n ready to get the v1 with milky yellows
Any good places for keycaps?
Um, well it depends, what kind would you like?
How much time are you willing to wait and what's your budget
I don’t really have a time frame
I kinda want red and black like itatchi but still okay with other options
Pimpmykeyboard seems pretty okay
Short circuit variant of the k8 was pretty cool I’d also be okay with that. I’m very new so I’m sorry if it sounds very basic lol
Nah basic is safe, nothing wrong with that. You can spend more time looking if you want to be sure. What's your budget for keycaps though?
I’m not sure. I think I’m total not more that $150 and I can always upgrade or change later
Including keyboard kits and switches right?
That would eat half their budget
Yeah that's what I was thinking, if they're fine with the month wait
better options for a sleek 60% cnc keyboard kit ?
I already have 2
but I didn´t find any other similiarly priced options
I also found them on taobao kdbfans for 110usd less then Aliexpress
chinese prices are much lower then AliE
I just dont want to wait for a group buy and most cnc diy kits i found are extremely ugly or horribly colored
bakeneko cnc looks ok
but the tofu has that something special
i know 4 same keyboard are kinda weird but
I can’t believe I just got Rick rolled for the first time in like 3 years
ima be honest
membrain keyboard in my opinion are better than machanical
because they have a wayy better thock
guys i am looking to buy a new fullsized wireless keyboard
my budget is very low around 30$ any tips or recommendations?
I’d go wired for $30
I am going for wireless cause I need to carie my laptop around school
Laptop keyboard?
no, i mean an external one
I know that, why not just use the laptop one
cause the laptop keyboard layout sucks i have to hit FN for everything like pressing home or pressing alt+f4
i can't find that option on windows settings for the recaurd i have a lenovo laptop i think v113
I mean, I wouldn’t buy a whole other keyboard just to alt f4
Plus, you’ll look like a huge nerd carrying an external keyboard
well keyboards are very important for me i use it to do everything cause i am blind
so it can slow me down if i have to press an extra key and then try to remember all the keys lol
Oh shit
i can go up to 40 maximum
Cursed sentence, but hey maybe you would like electrocapacitive keyboards, they're like the advanced membrane
Wired could still work with that unless you don't have ports on your laptop
Hipyo has a video for a $25 Amazon board he upgraded fin total for $90
Not the best but it’s wireless 🤷🏿♂️
Also any ideas for a itatchi themed caps?
Maybe the samurai keycaps?
Or this one?
That ones p coo actually I like that
I can’t find the video that had the link to the $25 board
You'd have to wait a month and won't be top quality but costs 1/4 what you'd get other places
You're talking about this but it's wired
https://youtu.be/CfojrBXu1kM
In this video I was challenged to a keyboard showdown! I built the best budget keyboard under $100 using only parts from Amazon like Akko CS Switches!

simple colors, no weird shapes, just simple industrial look
If you're actually looking for a cheap ass keyboard to play around with, you might look into the Motospeed Ck61. I wouldn't necessarily recomend it, but it fits the price range. I actually bought it just to see, what a keyboard for 25 bucks can do.
Imo the tofu is still a nice tray mount, affordable option. Though qk60 sure is good, Q4 also but you still have the custom keeb experience i guess with the tofu
okay ive decided to give gasket mount a try
with the mojo68
and also PANDAER iquinix
anyone know a problem with gk61 from epomaker where keys 5-9 and the rows downwards from them are dimmed so low they arent visible
and I have tried the reset function
its my opinion
“best”
what
What does best mean
it means most well-rounded
there's no best ...
best doesn't exist as it will be different as each person is different
honestly bro just wait and save enough money to jump to like 100-150
under $50, preferably membrane, responsive, and quiet
i have my reasons not to
like what
reasons that don't matter
??
i just want it under $50
idk a used realforce board
if you absolutely want under 50 then maybe a Apex3 from steelseries
why membrane specifically?
uses mechanical switches iirc
and still a meh board
I was just naming something under 50
o
@rapid belfry
quiet, feels nicer, and tends to have a better IP rating
why are you all so stuck up on IP ratings
i spill things
membrane makes me wanna puke
if you spill something on a membrane and it breaks there's no fixing it
why
one reason is I like the clickiness of my pandas
fine then but i just want it to be quiet
quieter than my amazonbasics keyboard and full size or tenkeyless
you want quieter than membrane?
well as quiet as can be
Honestly the cherry MV that are on the K60 are fairly quiet
but then again I am comparing them to my pandas
i would just buy a prebuilt and change out the switches for silent ones
quieter than this
oh that sounds loud
I have a 2 keyboard setup until I decide to get the bread to get a full size keyboard from epomaker
ish
please don't do that
epomaker boards are mediocre at best
whats the point of a two keyboard setup
true lmao

I play games that require a lot of keybinds
What games
then just get another hand fr
but I really like my 60% for typing and regular gaming
bro you know what layers are right
Get a 150% keeb
i hate 60%
65%>
For startes im in college for computer science
and then I play games like EFT and modded games
'modded games'
Yeah I know it has layers but tbh im too lazy to actually do that
like minecraft and other games with a bunch of mods that need keybinds
but having 2 keyboards on your desk at a time is easier??
maybe because I'm used to it but yeah
how does modded mc need keybinds
like dev mods?
just install a modpack and go to the keybind tab in settings lol
if you learn to make use of your layers your could even go down to a pain27
Like I said I plan to go to either a macropad or a full size with pandas
full size
which pandas
LTC Holy

what
i think ive decided on the keychron k2 with the red linears for now
then maybe get milky yellows down the line
been kinda overwhelmed im happy to finally decide on something lol
what is thock?
People generally say it's a lower sound but it's so vague don't bother chasing it lol
Keyboard: Realforce 87U Tenkeyless 55g (White/Gray)

this
its pretty much the genesis of the word people use in the hobby 🤷♂️
maybe you weren't around back then or the definition has been warped beyond recognition
sure dude
okay and your opinion affects what the descriptor means?
i see
That realforce is quite loud ... or it's the effect of the room or something like that ... not really sure
Thock, clack, marbly, creamy and such words don't mean anything ... it's just a bunch of buzzword that people use a lot
Indeed it does ... but I would still really like to try a topre board
yes, exactly why i feel the meaning has been lost
the upstroke is yes
also nathan's mic then was hot garbage
Sad ... that really doesn't help with the soundest
even your definition of the word doesn't line up with the original one
whar
Im making my first custom keyboard. do these parts fit?
Thera 75v2(Hot swap)
TX stabilizers rev 3 (7U)
tecsee carrots
gmk red samurai
Make sure you have the right kitting for the keycaps
And make sure you’re buying 1.2mm stabs
k
k
My 87u 55g
Dummy does not even know there is nothing to scratch in a topre switch.
There is friction between the slider and the housing though
It’s lubed out of the factory
No it’s not tf
Yea it has a silicone lubricant on each one lol. It’s not great but the mechanism is robust enough to where it’s fully serviceable.
Do you mean the factory lubed stabs?
Not a single topre keyboard comes factory lubed on the sliders
topre is literally where thock comes from but ight
yo
if I ship it it’ll go bad
ok then
can I send you a Big Mac nft
man
nfts are cringe
would much rather you send me a piece of paper with a bigmac on it
what is that supposed to mean
i thought abstract art's definition was defined by its artist
i assume you're the artist
i thought you were the greatest human being ever
I lied

work mainly

and switch modding
have you come up with a combination you really like
I think I have
Cherry nylon bottom and milky top
idk if it’s already been made but I like it
i tried experimenting with the spring weight on my u4t mx blues
and swapping to a jwk pc top
i think 63.5g is my sweet spot for tactiles
The bump is just too easy to reach
and it makes it feel unpleasant to me
Any new boards planned?
Freyr soon?
freyr is a consideration
but i don't like the stock red alu plate
might get a devastating tkl and cut a custom alu plate for it
nop but i don't mind
that is bold
my endgame would have to be a realforce r2, possibly with sa miami nights and a custom case
big fan of tactiles
I don’t like real force boards
they look too gamery for me
Maybe I’d buy a hhkb soon
but the pc66

I love the pc66
ah yes, gamer aesthetic
The bob or grey ones are fine
But the rgb ones piss me off
yeah rgb topre is not good
was going to consider a leopold fc660c
but i have no idea if that has any software like
at all
Leopolds r cool
I think they use proprietary software
Which isn’t a deal breaker for me
if I can remap keys I’m a happy camper
I just need my media keys
now i'm wondering if there's any topre companies that be willing to use qmk or via
does the grail use qmk/via
ah
All of the norbs are case swaps
^
understandable
feels good though
the type of people that buy topre don't really care about the sound
it's a secondary thing
I mean sound is at the last of my priorities
it’s uh
Aesthetics > Feel > Sound
For me
i like to balance sound, feel, software and aesthetic
I don’t really care about sound too much
because that is what i feel a good keyboard should be
Unless there’s a really apparent issue
i guess like
i don't care about if a board has a unique sound to it
if anything it encourages me to collect yk
just get addicted to audio or something
?
I was going to make a joke but i forgot the segue
lmao
in-ear fidelity hours
I asked a question there like once and have never returned
i was on there for a bit and then i just left
adios
never came back to the headphone world after that point
i'm happy with my sennies
he just got up and left
I think I will buy some closed backs sometime soon
Probably 400-500$ range
so true oomfie
oh fuck i didnt even notice elegias were discontinued

(one of my followers)ie
Idk the terminology
I just use it as a somewhat ironic term of endearment
What’s wrong oomfie?
anyone who uses that term unironically probably listens to 100 gecs

yo he playing limp biskit
idk the genres
limp bizkit is like
are you listening to LMFAO
rap rock
party rockers in the house
lmfao isn't pop punk
Don’t buy elegias, Ted talk over 🙂
I will find out
hewlett packard!!!!
nothing came up
not closed back tho so its got shit isolation

Introducing the Focal Elegia, the first high-end closed-back headphone from Focal. Buy now on Headphones.com for 365-day returns & FREE shipping!
Sold out tho
probs forever as well
xamn…
Good
I might buy the arya stealths off bleach and rob him
It’s a shit headphone anyway
free headphones!!!
real !!
If you are able to, get speakers
I don’t like speakers
Then you haven’t heard good ones
my entire gripe is that open ears leak sound
not true
I don’t know what to believe anymore
They do leak but it’s not actually that loud
a good portion of open backs do leak sound but there's an exception to everything
ye
I mean if you don’t want speakers because of the noise then yeah I understand, which is why I said if you could
I hear that well setup 305pm2s can outres hd800
i appreciate somewhat good audio but i don't care enough to invest thousands of dollars into it
I’m easily appeased by audio
I’m too deep
if it doesn’t leak sound and sounds somewhat decent I’m fine with it
Currently building an amp lmao
which is why ive stuck with my HD560Ses + AT2020 + NI KA1 + R1700BTs
it works. sounds great, don't see any other reason to upgrade
yeah.
Frey what’re you listening to at this present moment ⁉️
epic
I like it
i know nothing about jazz
oh yeah uh
me but with metal
if i ever get a freyr
what the fuck is djent
What color
THE PCB???
I never know what type of shit you be on
Gotta stay on my toes
i have 5 hours of sleep
yeah
sorry for being supportive
Frey do you need a hug
yeah
okay cool just asking
do you?
okay just wondering
I think it’s like 50° rn

should’ve seen that coming
50 glasgows out of 2 workshires
christmas present for the server
yeah
Or morning
night
Idk
sleep well
Put your headphones on
Play music to the usual listening level
Keep playing music and put your headphones on the desk
That's about how loud the most leaky open back would leak sound
I mean you do the burger oring mod and it's not that bad, different experience
I might be biased by my stiff board liking, like i don't like that much the vertex angle i built recently, feel like my 1.2og and 2.0add are better feeling wise
True
A lot of things are in the hobby
Especially once you've stopped looking at the low-end/budget
Like qk65 and stuff
(qk65 more in the budget than low end part but you probably get my point)
game
he got the game mouse
I mean it's onn sooooo not bad.
I have a question, the Alpaca Linears state that they will not work with 3-pin hotswap boards unless you clip the 2 extra plastic pins. The PCB I will use has support for 3pin and 5pin support. Will I still need to clip the 2 plastic pins?
No
A 5 pin board can take both 3/5 pin switches
a 3 pin board can only take 3 pin switches
thank you @glossy sandal
W
is there a wirelss keyboard that has a good looking fingerprint sensor like on the touch id magic keyboard for m1 macs?
From what I have tried so far, felt like a normal MX black to me, but it's not like I'm an expert, plus it's hard to tell on a switch tester with a shit keycap. I guess we need to wait for some comparaisons inside a keyboard.
Also the one i tried was the prelubed so very hard to tell. But to be honest looked like it was nice as it was.
I mean all things considered they never were that bad, just need to lube them
Sure there are smoother ones, but sound wise it's different
But then what's a good stock switch
On what criteria, because to me, in the hobby prelubing isn't necessary something that make a switch a good stock switch as the preference is to be able to adjust the amount of lube
However a very light prelube isn't an issue
So happy I brought an 60% keyboard instead of a full one

From what I’ve experienced, if the lube is light you can just do over it
If not, cleaning it is pretty troublesome; I <3 dry switches
Ooof finally done and I love it
from what little I talked to them, random gk61 clone, outemu greens, pudding keycaps?
No, I did do a few years of French though
yeah
Not really, that seems like an apple gimmick
are POM stem switches compatible with cherry profile keycaps?
its the womier wk61
and its outemu greens/teals? switches
i was right on the spot to order some clickey switches since the reds that were by default suck
🤨 ooof good thing i rdered 9extra switches
i mashed some pins they are more flimsey as i expected i thought the pins were thicker and round
Outemu switches are thinner than standard mx yeah
Mostly because they’re meant to fit into outemu sockets
what?
Yeah
If it’s mx style stem and mx style keycap, it’ll fit
well all in all i only smashed one beyond fixing so yeah did better as expected
damn.. it’s not really a gimmick because of windows hello but i guess i’ll ave to stick with a separate fingerprint sensor… thanks tho
Who said I was talking about hyperglides..
It seems cool but doesn’t seem worth it for keyboard manufacturers
Since I imagine it’s very complex to incorporate
🤨 its kinda nice that i got the revised version of the womier wk61, since now i have the silicon mat between faceplate and pcb
is the mx style stem the + looking thing
i don’t mean a button fingerprint, just a keyboard with a fingerpitn onto it would suffice, even if it isn’t a button
Yep
multi standard key
Finaly I can throw away my ewaste emergency keyboard
membran keys are so fucking disguting feeling
🤔 i kinda which the pudding keycaps would be difusing instead of translucent
it would make em look better well i needa get some new keycaps anyways since im german and use qwertz instead of qwerty so its super confusing and shifting between english and german layout with shift alt sucks
pretty sure you would need an iso board, which the k61(?) isn’t.
reminds me of osume keycaps
I’m unsure about the logistics but it still seems unnecessary in a lot of use cases, still interesting though.
If you stay long enough in the hobby you will forget about RGB 😁
🤔 rgb is one of the mst important things for me
But iso-de isn't the hardest thing to find imo
yeah some hyperx pudding keycaps twenty five bucks lol (okay i need to fix the two key)
and the eight xD
okay 2 and 8 fixed lol
🤨 im kinda suprised how good the stabiliser are even stock i dont even need to mod em they are already perfect they are even lubed prety good
but dang theese outemu greens sound and feel realy great
I need help I took my keyboard space bar out and I put it back in but it just won't click
rgb never was important to me, got a monitor lamp on the way
Can you elaborate
Yeah, having good lighting is more important imo
But rgb
In my opinion, like for PC, RGB doesn't make it nicer
Blacklighting underrated by keyboard snobs
I was convinced by backlighting for a while
But having a desk light and using a light in my room is less straining in my experience
Than having backlight on a keyboard
If you have both, well the keyboard back light not that usefull
I've never used a monitor mounted lamp, but I can only imagine the annoying glare that will end up causing
I like a basic white backlight on keyboards
Hmmm i don't really have much glare
If only I could get a refund on my keychron, I would immediately
But i also tend to use my room light also
Monitor light is more when I'm working on my desk
What keychron did you got ?
If you don't have a use case for no backlit more power to you but I have had numerous cases where I'd like as many lights off as possibly and a little bit of keyboard legend glow
Those have backlighting (at least q series)
Including LEDs on a South facing design is purely designed to advertise to non- informed people like myself who
It would be nice if keychron had no backlighting or just white for a few bucks less
Yeah it's dumb
Some model have on K series
Oops, I meant specifically in Q/V series
Keyboard resell loses a lot of value so there's no real point in me dumping it tho. Besides the leds it's good
I see, i did use a bit the RGB on the Q1, imo worked fine as backlight
On low end yeah
I bought pbt shine caps with my board I can not see the letters whatsoever on max brightness.
Unless you have full clear switch bodies idk
Well lately kinda a slump for mid range stuff, but proper nice stuff that didn't ran on hype is doing ok
Even on my boba u4, had clear top and cloudy bottom. It was very useless
Oh yeah for shine through it's useless
I mean, in my opinion it never was meant for shine through anyway
Backlighting ok
No it wasn't
Because they chose South facing
Of yeah by backlit I meant shine thru
Yeah, make all sense to me 😁
Having leds vomit into your kb plate is dumb
It's separate stuff 😁
If find having crisp legends with good contrast better than lighting legends in that regard 😁
But everyone has their taste i guess
(reworded as it was leading to misinterpretation)
I used to like backlit keys but I realized it was more annoying than a desk light because RGB is pointed directly at my eyes. A soft reflection from desk lamp is less straining
I do need to get myself a lamp
What i found out too
And if I have the RGB/computer off, it doesn't look as good as consistently pretty keycaps
And hey, in a way it's better for the environment 😂(not by much)
(since you use a light for the desk)
But during the day all good
Skill issue 😂
Nah jk
Yeah i code too, gotten used to parenthesis but still training the others
I dare you to close your eyes and hit f10 first try without feeling up yew kb lol
Maybe look into different spring weight if you mistype to often
Also i found out that your chair height can influence
Yeah I very dislike my switches
So check if positioning differently helps
I need to get more something more tactile but I'm poor rn
I mean unless you're in pitch black you can see where the second key in the last function group is
And it's the best for me, so maybe try someone else linear board, with maybe heavier linear to see
Do the same for tactiles
Why not clicky switches
I used to have mx blues. Love em. But then I got my keychron and gat browns. Hate those things.
For a while I used boba u4 at work, I like the force of the keys but hate the mush, horrible
Gat browns might as well be linear
An unsatisfying tactile doesn't mean you've tried a good linear lol
Since u4 is the silent one
Yeah i will try more when I un-poor myself
Yes i know they're silent I bought them to use at work for a few months
All things considered, light tactile isn't necessarily bad, it's just a preference
Like some people only want slight feed back
And others want it crunchy
(I'm caricaturing ) but the idea is there
Same stuff, the boba u4t has that kind of round tactile peak
Some might prefer it sharper
Personally i quite liked the Zealios v2 feel but i wouldn't recommend the switch for what it is
Durock cerulean good
By saying they are linear, I'm comparing them to only mx red, gat brown, u4, and mx blue. With that context they might as well be linear.
I just don't like them at all lol. Blues awsom except the noise
It's quite a good middle ground as a tactile
Silent switches always have the pillowed effect to achieve it, unfortunate
And u4 awsom except the extreme mushed bottom
If you want a budget linear switch to try there's gateron yellow pros
Personally, i prefer to say "light tactile, almost as if it was a linear " 😁, but gat Brown to me still is clearly a tactile switch
Gat yellow good value yes
Or gat black (same shit but heavier)
Those with milky top are also nice sound wise
I mean it's a nice switches, i have my own bias towards tactiles now as i feel like it's just an inferior MX black 😁
But still in my top switches
Plus depending on the batch and when it was made tactility is different on them
Like between retooled, pretooled, hyperglides, vintage ect
Plus the lube job does have an influence
But looked like that hyperglides are more tactile than vintage, but then not all batch are equals
I think I'd need a mad man with a good experience in those switches to know 😁
Yes i have some in my 2.0add Xmas
Very nice
At first i thought about removing them, but I've come to like them
I mean those are lubed
And butter browns so already broken in
Plus as i swap often keebs i think it's négligeable 😁
I think the general consensus is that after 650k or so actuations it can’t get noticeably smoother
yeah, idk why this place doesn’t like them
probably only been exposed to rgb cherry mx
Hello everyone Im new around here and I'm considering buying a mechanical keyboard
I'm a very slow typer
embarrassing slow
a good run for me is in the range of 32 wpm
so you know Im willing to invest in one to try to improve or well try to
but I never had a mechanical keyboard before and I have used a red switch hyperx of a friend of mine
and clacked the switches of a blue one before but that's about it for me a mechanical keyboards
First off you don't need a nice keyboard to type fast. That said keyboard awsom and still a good buy if you want to get one.
well that's the thing idk I'm not super sold on one yet Idk how it would feel
I have used a dell sk-8135 all my life
well not all my life but a very significant portion of my life
and every else I have used was worse
so Im tempted
I type faster on laptop then I do any of my mech boards
me on the macbook keyboard 💀
I mean my laptop keyboard is good
it's not out of the water good
it's an Hp elitebook G5 keyboard they pretty sold
but I don't really find them super special than my dell keyboard
that take seems uncomforting
perhaps I may never know how a mechanical keyboard feels like
computer
Do you have some parameters?
Or like an idea of what you want
no not really
I liked the red more than the blues
that all I ever tried
for like 30 secs
I haven't tried the 60% ones but they look painful ig that's a parameter
I use the arrow key alot
I don't mind a numpad but if I'm paying premium I want it to be portable so not having it is a plus
actually
getting it local is a massive plus
customs don't play nice here
so I can throw in ones and ask for opinions on it
so the ad listing that got me thinking in the first place
a hyper x alloy origins tkl
I don't even know what switches it has
So a 65%
I think
Unless you have a custom keyboard store near you, there is close to nothing you can pick up close to you
not new
but used
I think I can mange
like the hyper x alloy origins tkl I was talking about
Ik nothing about it but that it's marked down a good bit
should I consider it?
I will go pick it up so I can check it so that's no issue
but is it worth the time
My keychron k2 shipped today bois
Will Vaseline be any good for lubing a membrain keyboard?
You can lube a "membrane" keyboard in a sense, as long as there are mechanical parts to lube
Some exceptions like topre as an example
But you could also mean the stabs
I'm lubing it rn
But Vaseline is not a good lube for plastics
It's petroleum based, so id i recall it's not going to end well overtime
I'm being lite with it
It's not about being lite 😁, chemical reaction are chemical reactions 😁
I mean could work
So far everything seems to be just fine
Not recommended long term to use Vaseline if i recall
But i mean, i guess this is the kind of keeb you can afford to replace when it's cooked
Cheaper than my switches 😁
Well my tx stabs sets cost more 😂 (though i prefer using a cheaper combo, cherry clip ins + C3 wires)
Ngl
I like membrain more
I know there a slight delay with membrain but
I don't notice it
Is that by choice ?
I don't think membrane has a delay ?
can we see?
Or it's it tied to your contrôler ?
Lemme dif out my mechanical keyboard
you sure it’s not just uh, polling rate?
I have a few mechanical keyboard myself 🤣
Imo polling rate kinda bs on keeb especially over 1000hz
Maybe if you are like hardcore OSU player 😁
It's been collecting dust in my droors for over a year
I mean standard is 1000hz on most modern keyboards
200hz can also be found
so that’s why I’m assuming
Most people could probably live with 125hz
Yeah I use 1000hz
Scratchy blues..
I dunno what the hell is that switch but probably not very good indeed
makes sense you don’t like it since you called membrane better since it had more “thock”
I have had experience with cherry reds
rgb cherry reds are horrid
Yeah, I don’t think anything past 1000hz is important
some people do care (idk who) and buy stuff like wooting
I haven't tried their hall effect switch so i cannot tell if it's objectively good or bad
I do think that some people will take benefit of it
But keyboard input is different than mouse input for gaming
Btw you don't lube the membrain switches
There are no membrane switches ?
No there are
Well maybe you can call them membrane switches
But that's not what you lube when lubing a membrane keyboard
You lube these bottom things
There are not exactly switches
Ik
its the stem
Can't really tell on camera since the mics mid af
But omfg irl it sounds soo good
btw Vaseline is petroleum based
Ik
so it can (and probably will) destroy your board
yeah it’ll deteriorate
It's a cheap one
By the time it's ded
I never checked on the k55 i had of the "meca membrane" parts had stuff that could be lubed
I still have it in a box somewhere
Now that i think about it, the only ever membrane i owned that i could remove caps was the Corsair k55
Vaseline will eat away the plastic in due time
they’re well aware, it’s an e-waste board so they don’t care
so despite the fact that I jam packed my keyboard full of foam it still has a twang sound to it. The twang is drastically dampened now, but it isn't fully gone. Could it be the foam I am using? I am usign various types of weather proofing foam that we had laying around the house.
well that aint happening bc they are all soldered and I really don't feel like desoldering all of them. At least it is considerably better than it was stock.
thanks though
You could probably use even more sound absorbing foam
but I think it’s negligible difference
Inject some oil like 105
true
Only works if you’re using alps or the plate has the proper cutouts
is there a way to have a keyboard key-in unicode character? Or do I have to pick from charmap every time I want to use multiplication symbol?
I remember back in windows xp you can set some sort of software keyboard with different sets and you can use those chart symbols quite easily
anyone know something similar too IFK blacklight
Should I get holy pandas or 110 ktt Kang whites v3 for 17 pounds on AliExpress
what
outta curiosity, do u think that it was a coimbo of case and switch ping, and while I obviously fixed the case ping for the most part the spring ping obviously remains?
also the entire top half of the switch seems to be mounded above the keyboard, and there appears that there might be a seam between the transparent part of the switch and the black base that is sitting on top of the aluminium plate and what the clear part of the switch seems to be attached to.
Think they could be disassembled?
My Akko creams are here and it’s miles better than cheap mk browns clones
Still need to lube which I’ll have to find time to
Akko changed their packaging?
sad
Yeah but it will get cot somewhere or trip over it plus I can just put my laptop anywhere and I can just use it
I mean wrapping up most of it would solve that but sure. I was just saying good wireless boards at that price are not easy to find
i feel like akko has gotten a lot better recently
I mean it’s one of the cheapest long pole switches on the market
that’s a pretty cool thing
did it come in a mock-up leather box?
Which is made of cardboard
No but it’s only like 17$ for a 2 pack
damn so they did really change their packaging
Damn
packaging doesnt really matter anyway as long as its here safely, and they save some money on selling it to me cheaper then ill take it
Yeah but Akko packaging was really pleasant
I think it’s feasible but it would be hard to get back into working order, since you’d just be using brute force to take apart the switch
Yah ive decided thats not really worth it. Especially because I was able to get rid of most of the ping with foam, and to be honest I usually listen to music at my desk anyways which seems to cover up the remaining ping.
Thx for everyone's help though
do ppl usually like building zmk locally or on their github or what
anyone would take a guess at why my dz60 wont work upon boot ?
and needs to be replugged in order to work
always at login screen it lights up but doesnt type
when you run out of dielectric grease and your stab start to tick
Never had that issue with dz60, interesting
Do I need to buy a certain keycap set for my keyboard or does it not matter
I mean, most of the aftermarket keycaps will physically fit on mechanical switches that have the MX compatible stem
However, if your keyboard is a 75, 65 (or 1800/96), you need to check the compatibility of the modifiers
In most aftermarket set sold for the custom keyboard hobby his shouldn't be an issue, but for cheaper stuff i don't know, though you definitely have some options that have everything
What keyboard do you want to buy caps for ?
Are rog NX switches MX compatible?
yes
Not sure what you mean by sharp but if you want more circular try XDA keycaps?
Yea
anyone have any recommendations for good wireless tkl or smaller mech keyboards?
k8 pro
can you solder
no and keychron dont ship to aus on their website for some weird reason
well at least last time j tried to buy one
there are plenty of aus sites that sell keychron keyboards, but not the one i picked out on their site
are there any other brands that are similar to keychron
On another side, is wireless super important for you ? (well i did had a g915tkl at some point and autonomy was good, so not wired often), however i ended up being ok with a cable later on
well i already have a wired one atm and its annoying, plus im trying to build a really clean and nice setup, small pc itx mobo, wireless peripherals etc
so im tryna find a good wireless keyboard thats small too
was thinking steelseries apex pro tkl wireless 2023 but i was hoping there was something closer to custom keyboards that i could get
My fix is expensive, having a nice custom cable 🤣
I did had some coiled cables before, to be honest i don't understand too much the esthetic and practicality
So straight cable and less problems I'd advise if someone would want a custom cable
so... there is no good wireless ones then
What itx case do you want by curiousity ?
because... i dont want a cable
K8 pro not bad for the price
I had one
not itx case, matx case but fractal pop air mini
In all honesty, if the typing feel is ok to you the g915tkl was quite practical
Does AliExpress ship to Australia well? I like nj80, bit smaller than tkl with 2.4ghz reciever
But meh switches to be honest
This is quite a chonker and expensive for someone outside the hobby and the gb has ended a few weeks ago but the class80 had bt support
nah
i search it and it comes up usd
ah yes i see it now
but not a fan of that keyboard
is there anything similar to drop ctrl keyboards
cause they are so cool but literally so expensive to ship to aus
not a site
forgot the .net
yea
Keychron K8 QMK/VIA Wireless Mechanical Keyboard. Supports out-of-the-box QMK/VIA. Wireless or Wired. Hot swap every switch in a breeze with the hot-swappable feature. Compatible with Mac, Windows, iOS, Android, Linux. Keychron Gateron G Pro Mechanical Switches. Connect up to 3 devices. 15+ RGB Backlight
Hey everyone, I’m in the market for a mechanical TKL keyboard with white or RGB backlight. In terms of price I am placing my upper limit at around 140 CAD/110USD, but could go higher if it’s compelling. Doesn’t need to be a gaming keyboard per se.
Keychron V3
I should add I do want to go with a white theme
