Keychrons are very well made
I have a friend that wants a mechanical keyboard with brown switches for under 30 for his setup
and they said they want it to be rgb
any reccomendations
At that price point get something used
That too
Does anybody here have any thoughts on any keyboards manufactured by ajazz?
no idea about their keyboards ... they have some nice switches from what I heard
Okay then what good typing mechanical keyboard is there that you guys can whole heatedly recommend me?
I'm coming from Corsair k70 and Logitech g845
So anything better then does I'll take it
Check keychron and akko offering
Will do and thank you
You mean like force-break mod?
no clue
Though I think everything after the Q1v2 had force break mod preinstalled
in which case, polyfil doesn’t compromise sound that much in return for getting rid of ping
How much of a difference is there between clicky and linear switches
well do you like click or do you like smooth
I have tactile cause I like them, but was just curious as a secondary
personally i really like linears
gives you the nice thock
especially lubed
and all the other mods you can do
I tried this in store at best buy and loved it but the key caps are a little small, is there a version with the same switches but slightly larger keycaps (not taller, I like short ones)
one has a audible click and tactile tactile feedback for when you actuate it
the only feedback you get from linears is when you bottomout
people tend to gravitate towards linears, clickys are a bit of an acquired taste thing
linears are about the most inoffensive type of switchh
When you say bigger keycaps
Do you mean the characters on the keycaps or do you mean the keycaps themselves
Key caps themselves, more area to press but keeping the same small height
keycaps generally maintain the same area
they just get taller or get less/more sculpted
You mean like uniform profiles?
Yeah
check out DSA
I think
It won’t be any bigger but it’s a more flat surface
Bingo
Thanks
I will take a look at it
also see XDA and KAT
Those are uniform profiles( I think? )
I don’t really mess around with any uniform profiles
The uniform version of KAT is KAM
Hmmmm kam
I really don't like it
Who knows? I'm new to looking at keyboards
Fair. Is it aesthetics or the use of it?
both
So they're not good keyboards in general? Damn gg
would really surprise me if it was good ... for that price I would look at royal kludge or redragon stuff
It's basically your run of the mill office rubber dome board now with lighting under it and sell for a bigger profit to parents whose children want gamer keyboard with RGB!!!1!1!1
Frick
It AUD, so would be like cheaper in CAD and would be around 26-30 USD
aud and cad are about the same value wise
I've seen roughly 10% difference in cost of things
cause australia have crazy high import fees ... canada only have really high import fees
I was talking about conversion
Import fees I'm not sure about, because I think we have trading agreements so that should make it cheaper in some regards
Anyone have experience with the Keychron V1 QMK
75% I’m greatly considering this board and modding it
Is there a software for remapping keys? I want to switch these two but Logitech’s software won’t let me
powertoys keyboard manager
i shall try it!
unfortunately it doesnt seem like that would allow me to change the function key :/
which board is this?
G pro keyboard
yea theres no other way
the fn key is hardcoded as its the hardware switch for you to access other layers
should I cop?

Are the Silver Kailh switches any good then
Ayo any hot-swap, small factor with numpad mech keyboards recommendations? Looking to get a new one under 80€
May mod in the future*
no this looks ass, so is the switches
small factor, but with num?
Alright then
Yeah i think its called a 1800 compact? Kinda new to keyboard stuff jeje
drop or akko
I've had a look at the keychron k6 and the drop ctrl so far
ok but those arent 1800 compact size?
indeed xD
ok lol
My laptop has no function lock, fn + escape doesn’t work? You think it could be in BIOS?
I am stuck with multi media keys
not really a keyboard issue is it
Yes I know it's not proper mechanical but I've tried this a few years back and genuinely enjoyed the tactility of it, and it's currently NZD$55
Should I cop?
If you enjoy it why not
I just know it goes against the mechanical keyboard thing
But this RK61 has dying LED lights and the L key is registering twice sometimes when I press it
I mean I would not recommend it but the most important thing is that you enjoy it and don't regret your choice
Hold on, I might be wrong

yeah my bad, it was the v2 or v3, just not the X variant
I would not buy any of them personally
better version of ornata is topre 55g fyi
topre uses capsense
Better version like the ornata v3 ?
The nice!view is a low-power, high refresh rate, premium display for wireless keyboards.
That might be a problem with the switch
clean setup 👍
just wondering, anyone know of any good mods for the keychron k8 wireless mechanical keyboard to make the switches or key more silent? My current one i have are gateron g pro red switches. i bought it from amazon just btw. thanks
Hi guys, y'all have good recommendations for green or gold-ish keycaps sets ?
Does anyone know how to fix some ticking in my right space bar stabilizer?
what are those keycaps?
Most likely GMK Wob
Look at taihao / akko for some inspiration
Add more lube
get new switches, buy Gazzew U4 SIlents / Gazzew Boba Gums or Cherry MX Silents or Outemu Silent White / Grays / Gateron Silent Ink Blacks
so any of those basically?
just choose your price / preferrence, they are all silent switches
or rather near silent, they still make thud sounds, but a lot quieter
well which is budget friendly?
outemus
so more quiet = more expensive?
or no?
and would i need a new set of all keycaps?
sorry
but i rather you buy a Leopold FC660M / FC980M w/ Cherry Mx Silents (spend more but would be better quality than your current board)
nope, those keycaps are compatible with those switches
basically yes
awesome!!
gl
if i may how much are each of the swtitchwe
wait
can i ask even the budget ones is it over or under $100
or maybe under $50
for the budget ones, it would be under 50
or maybe even 40
on amazon:?
just check your local stores
or the website?
I would suggest looking at these websites
lmao me sucking at typing lol
these are all keyboard websites
let me guess . i would also pay shipping?
yes ofc
fine
sometimes its not available in amazon
bet
aight gl
but ya ill give those a look
thanks
wait hold on
@chrome raft wait are u saying u dont like keychron or u think keychron is mid? i thought they were good and good quality. and reliable
was i wrong?
keychron is alright, its really a good budget board
for its price
I just like leopolds better since they come stock with silent switches already
suggested it because sometimes silent switches are hard to buy individually
i see. ya i kinda dont want to buy a new board tho
they are usually found in prebuilts
tbh
also i got my keychron k8 cheaper than normal price cuz on amazon i had like a coupon discount code which was cool
didnt rly do anything to quality tho lol
Keychron is better than most of the keyboards I've used tbf, so I would say their keyboards are good
not good for the price, just good
Does someone know what keyboard linus used in that starforge video?
I'm gonna have to finish my integrated Logitech POWERPLAY solution and post something about it, seeing how many people jank it together like that
It is, though
It fits both of my wrists perfectly
any context on this btw? 😛 what are we supposed to comment on here?
looks pretty random to me
It's an upload for #public-chat
oh
Domikey WoB
and these are XMI (21kb) Blue Cyrillic
what's the deal with these keyboards without windows/super key?
I couldn't live without that key
WKL
is that a f1?
the looks
you can remap windowskey to another key, works just fine
I know that
but fair enough
Aesthetics basically, nothing more nothing less
ah, still a pretty good board at least
it's aesthetic, you can still map it somewhere
I know, but other keys are also used for something, so not for me personally - guess it's a good thing I prefer the key being there aesthetically too then 😛
indeed, it is pretty nice
got the clack
thocc = trash

This build
can anyone recommend some budget white keycaps for my rk84? i have some cherry profile ones but i regret putting them on
Ouch
could anyone recommend me some top tier mac keycaps for a 75%?
currently use a PBT turquoise color palette
it will go in a silver GMMK Pro
yes, please give me attention!
I only have 1 monitor though, but I have multiple mechanical keyboards

Pbt fans have mac kits
Is it worth taking out gateron g pro red switches and replacing them with gateron yellows?
Got this old razer black widow at a flea market for $5
Wow that's good
Wait what currency
Those are about the same.but yellow have a slightly heavier spring ... not worth it imo
Get something better or different
what should I get then? sry im not very familiar with keyboards (this is my first one)
Good question ... there's tons of switches, it only depend what you like as a feeling ... I'm not really knowledgeable in linear ... only have gateron yellow, tecsee carrot and red jacket ... I tried some other but those were not that good anyway
Akko have some nice linear so I guess you can try one of theirs
People seems to really like gateron oil king so you could try that
You can also lube your reds for a different feeling and smoothness
Just get Cherry MX, that's what I've got. It is a nice brand
I am even designing my own Cherry MX macro keyboard
They are such nice switches to use
aint no way im spending 80 bucks on switches lmaoooo
Wait how many switches?
That's actually a good deal
Depending on what currency though
usd
Still ok
Yes lol
there isnt really budget switches
damn-
most switches are already under a dollar
should I just keep the stock switches then
if you dont have that much of a budget, yes
Cherry mx are not good for the price, there's way better switches for cheaper
https://www.amazon.com/Akko-Switches-Compatible-Mechanical-Keyboard/dp/B08XX7TTZB are these good or no?
Definitely, but I just like cherry
gat yellow
wdym
budget switches
and endgame for most people who actually use their keyboards
idk
they are also like 15 cents a switch lol
droybox said that they were not worth using
Not worth from the gateron red you have ... it's about the same switch but heavier ...
Doesn't make a difference
Except more miss click when going for lighter and higher actuation point switches
whats the difference between yellow akkos and green akkos?
damn you got some weakass fingers
It doesn't matter what you do with your switches, you can game with any switches
That is your preference, get yellow are way too light for me
navy parallel sequence with hyperglide browns, cherry clip-ins and pbtfans spark. thoughts?
What are good budget white keycaps that are not cherry profile for my RK84? Under 40 bucks is good.
you just generally said "gat yellows are too heavy for gaming" says who LMAO
Skill issue
yes, yes you did
Seethe
heard what happened to sugon?
sugon my balls
whats the difference between different switch colours in akko?
and also, you're the one talking about a switch being bad for gaming, I think you are the one who needs to go outside once in a while
They just picked colors. They don't correspond to the traditional red/black/brown/blue style. Each switch should have its specs listed
like what has more travel, what has more spring hardness (idk what to call it) etc
You have to read the description of the switch to know it's characteristic ... it should be in the switch page of each switch you want to see
where
bruh scroll down
Nah it has to be in the form of a tiktok bruh ong frfr
?
Go on the akko website directly for more info
Should be on the akko website
i think i will be going with matcha green
wait quicjk question
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08746ZJZ6 does this keyboard support 3 pins?
I've using the lavender purple right now and I love them
I also have matcha green, but I think im not that big a fan of heavier linears
oh
yes
I'm not one to ask
IMO just try the switches as is and see if you want to mod more
Don't use orings and yes switch films are worth
y not
Top board is lavender purple, bottom is matcha green
mmm mushy peas
🤣
my next board will probably be Akko
either an aluminum 75% or their acrylic Alice layout
im gonna get o rings anyway
because i dont want it to be clacky
also what do films help with?

Wobble
clack clack
Package Included Switch Films For Cherry Gateron Kailh Cream MX swithces (Not compatible for low profile switches, box switches) Details The double layer is made of HTV+PC,the thickness is around 0.18mm.The size is 15x11.6x0.18mm The single layer is made of MDI,looks little like foam, the thickness...
just a random anecdote
Probably
but I get key chatter with akko switches on keychron pcb
do I need a switch oppener?
Yes
kk
Dielectric grease
Read the description
...????
nvm ill just get durock films
gaming
and homework
i went with lavenders
oh damn-
didn trealize
lmfao
aughghhghggh which ones arent tactile
i want linear
Skill issue
kind of a btch ngl
ok so like which one should i get
if i want like linear and like weaker spring
Yellows are 60g lmao
If you think they're heavy you've got objectively weakass fingers
In what way?
LOL
Please explain what's so detrimental to gaming about its force curve
If it really isn't that deep why cant you just explain it right here?
Or are you just bullshitting
43 gf represents how much force is required right?
To support your argument lol?
Yes and it doesn't matter ... it's just a matter of preference ... won't make you good or bad at gaming
Atm your argument is I have objectively weakass fingers but they're slow for gaming anyway trust me bro frfr
kk
oh
Speaking from my personal experience of using 70g actuation force topre switches for gaming over the last 5 years, switches don't matter, saying they do means you're coping over being dogshit
Not everyone has your fingers g
Actually, I'm pretty sure most people don't
https://omegakeys.ca/products/jwick-black-nylon-switch-with-t1-stem is this a good price

Cad btw I'm im going to pick it up
I cant factory reset by keyboard
Ive got a Razor Black Widow Elite
Its backlit but unresponsive
dead, get new keyboard
I put a cherry mx silver stem into a kailh housing
this thing is stupid sensitive now
and thanks to the new durock v2s I installed, I can now have the smoothest most sensitive space bar in the world
that is, not knowing anything about enthusiast switches
do you have to lube switches
or is it not necessary
(like if they dont come factory lubed)
do you recomend i buy entirely new keycaps for french canadaian keyboard or simple stickers
budget is not a problem just seeing what you guys think
for context
i want a wooting 60he but i cant find a french canadian version
wouldn't stickers theoretically peel?
yes they could
and thats a concern
cause keyboard is on the premium side of things so i want premium feel
so personnaly i'd go with keycaps but i just wanna see what you guys think
keycaps imo
im not like
super into keyboards
but i feel like keycaps would probably be better
like for example if you wanted to buy a rubiks cube you would go with stickerless if possible
thx
You don't need to, but it change the feeling and also the sound
There's no mods that you need to do, it up to preference
Those are quite cheap
The nylon housing is really appealing to me
Might get those at some point
You'll have a hard time to find a French canadian iso layout with the proper keycaps ... specially if you want to stick with wooting
thsi is what i fear
thats why i am asking you about sticker
but thats bad ik
what can i do ?
Does the wooting even comes in iso layout ?
No idea ... haven't check them out
Usually most keyboard comes in ansi layout
Based on the picture it's ansi
Also there's no iso canadian
wait srsly
yeah i think i am gonna stick to ansi
between i am new to this keyboard master race (lol) so sorry if i get information wrong sometimes
Anyway the iso short left shift is a complete pain in the ass
Well I don't know why you would go with that keyboard in the first place ... there's other brand that have iso layout
ik but rapid trigger i want to try it
and also it would be my first premium keyboard
Why would you want that
I hope it's for fun ... cause it won't make you better in cod
ik dont worry haha
Well if you want to try that go for it but don't expect miracles
Well for about 1 week to 1 months most likely yes ...
you could make that argument yeah
rapid trigger just for fun
it will be my first high end keyboard
nothing that serious
high end is what then ?
ik
yeah gaming keyboard i want
i already have a full fat keyboard for working
ik but just wanna have fun with cool tech
i am playing now with old ps2 keyboard
the marketing is very hard
yeah too
thing is it will
hopefully
really ?
didnt knew that
ah
60% is very small tho
its surprising
ehhh
yeah less space on the desk
so get yourself a 20$ keyboard then lol
just kidding
If you can link that to aim increase then Coolio
I can’t really relate cause I use 16K dpi @ .45 sens
On anything
Raw 16k for like anything that doesn’t have proprietary sensitivity
And like around .50 for anything that does
I don’t play valorant
you ahve a 100 inch monitor ?
That’s your preference
But I guess more desk space could really benefit you then
But then again you could get a 40%
it exists ?
Mhm
no way
I kinda want one
Mercutio40
Check it out !
lol
It’s the same thing as accessing your F-row on 60%
then i bet youll like the one key keyboard lol
Damn ur still wilding here lmao
I don’t see what you find so stupid
You have no use for one so it means it sucks? Great logic
I mean I could use a 40%
Someone I know uses a reviung39 for fallout 4
I could use a 40% for gaming all day
If you don’t like it that’s cool, but that doesn’t make it objectively bad
Love how you specified that its bad for fps games which literally benefit from more mouse space
Depends on the game lmao
I could play csgo with a 40% lel
For you
Back on topic though
Exactly
Wooting?
ah its just me wanna try new cool tech from wooting old subject
Difference in latency seems like a bit of a little nuance to be switching layouts for
bruh just drop it
Im amused by your statements
okay okay kids no more arguing now ok just keyboard talk
Your opinions are bad lol
Scroll up
You didnt say in your opinion
Just generally stated that they are too heavy for gaming
Idk where i should ask this but its regarding gaming mise
Idk anything about mice
I’m chilling with a basilisk ult
I like the shape
You didn’t offend anyone, it’s just not an opinion
Didnt know 50g is heavy
Yeah but im not sure about what brands should i be going to
Pulsar for value
My gf doesnt stop asking me what i want for birthday and i cant imagine anything but since i have been waiting a new mouse for a while why not that but since she doesnt know anything about mice i decided to ask for options here xd
I gave her last year a black manba mouse from razor idk mutch about mice but seemed fine
Yes and thats how you measure the weight. I use alpacas with no issues for gaming and typing daily
Which are 62g actuation
okay no
who doesn’t bottomout
I usually dont
odd
When gaming yeah sometimes but when typing nah
I haven’t hit bottomout like 3 times ever
That’s still YOUR preference
Calling them objectively too heavy is just dum
bruh
Ever heard of sponsors LMAO
spring weight is entirely preference
If 63g~ isn’t your cup of tea then that’s fine
Just say yellows aren’t your thing for gaming and move on
Doesnt look like a logitech sponsored player to me lmao
Different brands are more strict, logitech being very strict
Corsair knows their mice arent up to pro players standards
So they just tell them to use their headsets etc and rest are up to choice
It was an example
it's not because something is used a lot that it's good in any way tho aka ath m40x just to name one
Also just cause no one use yellow in keyboards that don't come with yellow makes yellow bad for gaming
Yellows are bad for me cause they are way too light for my liking and a bit to wobbly too ... doesn't make me shit on them all day saying that they are bad switches tho
Cause they are gahmer and they use gaming board
Can't use a switches that isn't sold in gaming brand cause those are not hotswap and most won't bother to swap them for something actually good
Also most gahmer don't know anything about keyboard
Doesn't make a difference tho
Which pins of a 5 pin switch do you cut to mount to 3 pin board
the plastic ones
Most switches will only have two metal pins. You can cut the plastic ones if they don't fit
Which are the plastic ones
just got a huntsman mini from razer will any keycaps work on it
or do i have to get the 50$ razer pbt keycap and coil cable bundle ?\
any would work
The ones made of plastic
That's what I'm saying!
They are way too light for me to like gaming with them
I might just be weak but I like yellows for typing as opposed to gaming
I still use them for gaming regardless
and also are a really good value when lubed
Yes they are
I like Gat Lynx Lubed switches (pre lubed)
Have a small assortment of other switches, some lube tools, and some lube, so might try to lube some switches soon
alright, made my mind up on my new keyboard
I had tried it out a while back and genuinely liked the feel of it, despite not being proper mechanical
Just got a Blackwidow V3 Pro wireless keyboard. Has anyone experienced the keyboard interfering with a wireless mouse? My Deathadder has started stuttering since switched to a wireless keyboard. Both are using the same razer dongle.
#justrazerthings
I just use my Gaming Laptop's keyboard.......
do you guys sleep? 1:00 to 3:00 in the morning!
if i don't want a staggered keyboard, what options do i have for budget, no solder keyboards?
Wait you want an ortholinear keyboard then right @cunning anvil ?
looks like it
timezones exist
hello guys, im looking out for a mechanical 80% keyboard with budget of 250$, can you reccomend me some?
good point. What time is it for you rn
2336
Are you going to custom pre bulit and what switches do you want
though i wouldn't be opposed to ergo as long as it's symmetric, i suppose
Ortholinear is as bad as row staggered board ergo wisz
You should look at columnar staggered keyboards
brown or red
im more annoyed by the asymmetry of standard row stagger, in a petty way ig
Look wise? @cunning anvil
yeah it bothers me
And by assymetry you mean the mod keys?
Do you wanna make the keyboard or just have it pre bulit
whatever is better, i will watch a tutorial how to build if i need to but need to bet swappable switches
Hi. can the asus mx cherry switch be swap with akko switches?
Yes
Is there a way to make Glorious Panda switches clear? Just got a GMMK 2 with them and I find the RGB to be a little dim for my tastes (and this is with pudding keycaps on)
Change the switches for something that will let more light pass
Would it be feasible to change the housing instead? Like, would these fit?
https://mechanicalkeyboards.com/shop/index.php?l=product_detail&p=1650
Are red, blue or brown switches better?
depends on your own preferences
Dam
In this short I compare the Keychron V1 with a Razer Black Widow.

I like this keychron sound
So im trying to buy it
But theyre giving me too many options
Thing is i've been a laptop player till now
So i have no point of reference
Why would you go with all that trouble when you can get good switches that does what you want without messing with them
What decision r u stuck on
I JUST bought these switches and like how they feel. Ig I can always return them...
In that case are there any good clear-housing tactile switches that feel similar to the Glorious Pandas then?
LEDs are north-facing in the GMMK 2
Those are the akko switches I found that are tactile and have clear tinted housing
There's no tactile that are completely clear from akko
I don't know about other brands and haven't done any research about it cause I really just don't care about rgb
My entire setup is RGB lol. Thank you for the suggestions, I'll keep those in mind
usd
Run. Putin is here
found this keyboard at a thrift store for 5 dollars it has very basic lights very curious if anyones heard of these
wtf
Akko switches are light asf
How is that close to a glorious panda
See Drop Halo True/Clears
Looks like e-waste to me
it works pretty alright its actually pretty quiet but still feels decent
if you like it I can’t tell you otherwise, have fun with it!
Yeah you're right I'm just a moron
Nah
Most of akkos offerings are light
I bought some of their ocean blues a while back, came to the realization light tactiles aren’t my thing
Durock Medium Tactile Switches a tactile switch with a tactility in between the Durock T1 and Durock Light Tactile for a more balanced bump. Durock Medium Tactile Switches Features: Tactile Top Housing: Polycarbonate Bottom Housing: Nylon Stem: POM Bottom-Out: 65g PCB Mount, 5-Pin Lightly Lubed Price: $0.55 per switch
There ... satisfied now
Also according to the force curve graph of the glorious panda the tactile bump is 58g
Which is not that much more than the tactile bump of the jelly purple at 56g
If anything the bump on the jelly purple will feel sharper than the glorious panda
Ohh that one has clear bottom housing as well
They don’t look as good as those all purple switches.
True, plus the Akko ones are way cheaper
What about Zealios V2?
Thats even more expensive than the durock
Oof yeah they are, nevermind lol
Alright, ordered the Durocks. Thanks for all of the suggestions everyone!
My first custom keyboard. The order was missing some switches so dont mind the missing keys!
i will mind the missing keys, what happened
its not a keyboard if it doesnt have all the switches
I miscalculated and ordered less switches than i was supposed to
what switches are they?
I didnt have much choice so I got ice white's
its a Keychron Q1
oh
Does anyone know what other games work for Logitech LIGHTSPEED keyboard lighting
Broke my left_shift socket so I hooked it into the right_shift one. couldn't think of any issues it might cause (with hotkeys etc), anyone might know if this is safe (or not)?
why not just get a new socket
I got plenty, but the whole trace was 'peeld' off the keyboard
tried to solder it back, but I only had the vias to solder onto
so the pcb is broken too now?
had to scratch of some coating to reveal copper of the vias, but also scratched the traces near it. Tried putting putting some tape over the unwanted traces but the area of the via was too little
no, the trace is just removed from the surface, it only has it vias
oh ok
concluded it was impossible to solder the trace back on with the lack of my setup. so instead of soldering the to the via of leftshift i soldered to the rightshift socket
what pcb is this again?
Bakeneko65 from Cannon Keys
its great so far, was just curious if I could fuck something up doing so
typed 2 days using right-shift instead of left-shift, was a horrible time
just get a new pcb
and you broke it?
bought the wrong stabelizers
...
so bought new ones and thought those were the right ones
installed them and it fucked up
no? resoldering the trace was not an option
living with left shifting being my rightshift is what im doing now
as long as i don't have to spend another 100$ on a pcb hehe
its 40 dollars
Not sure where to send this but ill send it here
ok
Ive gotten my laptop for almost a month , however i realized that the space bar is more pressed on the right , not a big deal but its disturbing me ,
- why did that happen and
- how to fix it?
Whats a good
Uhh
Beginners introduction into mechanical keyboards
Not gonna mess up my first impressions
holy shit thank you
Bruh sometimes my main PC randomly messes up its driver for the keyboard so the Lshift, tab and Lctrl keys don't work, and you have to factory reset to fix it and doesn't work no matter what keyboard is connected
Its the worst thing ever to have on a pc
hmm I think i had something similar where my ctrl key was held down forever
Lol
My keyboard collection 😂 have a few other keyboards too lol… most of these are pretty meh though
i was testing my PCB and shorting traces for find the right one, had to reboot to get it unstuck
I just made my own RGB macro keyboard (designed the PCB myself ) put of an rp2040 lol
Out
yeah they look meh 😅 try some colors
asside from ur RGB lights
RGB makes things better
most of them are meh, as in most of them are bad
I figured 😉
most of them are prebuilts, and when I bought them there weren't very many options with colors aside from RGB 😛
disagree, I disable lights cuz screw em
Sometimes it is cool
I like lights, but not rainbow lights, that's a bit much
I was trying to get QMK to map my LEDs to a heatmap of switch usage
so when you use the keyboard, the keys most used would shine brigther then those who are used less
Plus I learnt when PCB designing that for each LED you have is about AUD 10 cents, and they are really easy to interface
I have some other keycaps and switches on the way, but it's so annoying to get ISO nordic keycaps, especially nice ones
yeah im ISO BE here, I just got into ANSI and switchted from Azerty to Qwerty
currently have blank caps and prefer the flat ANSI enter
how hard was it to get into PCBs? I tried to use a open source PCB design but sucked so hard
I designed my own casing with Solidworks and printed it out, would be cool to make some cheap PCBs for testing
I wouldn't mind ANSI had it not been for the "<>" key to the right of the LSHIFT key
but I do like the big fat enter key that ISO keyboards have 😛
programmer? wait until you see { [ and } ] share the same key, as well as ' and "
it is soooo much easier
big fat enter key is overrated if you are hitting it with your pinky, chances are you smash it with your middle finger? (atleast I used to)
i prefer a wider 1 height enter then the ISO enter
https://www.keychron.com/products/double-shot-pbt-cherry-full-set-keycap-set-royal I ordered these keycaps
Double-shot Cherry profile keycaps. The keycap is made of PBT material with a double-shot production method, making it oil-resistant, durable, and long-lasting. The legends on the keycap will maintain their original state much longer than many of their peers.
yeah, but <> still kills me 😂
got them at IKEA? xd
I wish Discord/Kono made an ISO version of the Discord keyboard, or at least the keycaps
lol, yeah 😛
https://www.keychron.com/products/double-shot-pbt-cherry-full-set-keycap-set-grey-white-and-blue these look pretty nice too I'd say
Double-shot Cherry profile keycaps. The keycap is made of PBT material with a double-shot production method, making it oil-resistant, durable, and long-lasting. The legends on the keycap will maintain their original state much longer than many of their peers.
and the all black set isn't too bad either
im more into these flashy colors
I bought 60% instead of 65% so I had to get creative and mix it up with some purple flashy keycaps xd
I did like my Ducky One2 Mini, which was 60%
hated the 65% keyboard I have
Keychron K6
the keyboard is good, I just can't stand the 65% layout 😛
ye now that i look at it I might prefer 60
who knew arrows would be that easy to use in 60%
I've been using a 60 the past year and some change and the arrow key usage really isn't bad. You get used to it pretty quick
Yeah, I actually think I prefer the 60%, because less travel for my hands 😳
But with certain other stuff TKL is just nicer
I ordered a brass plate for my Keychron Q3 board, so we’ll see what that’s like

Might build my own 60% down the line too, but we’ll see
I cant stand the 60% laylout
Oh I designed the PCB using kicad. What did you use? You can find a variety of instructions for it and is very well documented
I use 80% cuz I do programming a lot, but a lot of gamers do use 60, making it still a popular choice
65 is for me the best option rn
Never heard of it lol
Might build a numpad tho
What u never heard of?
Why blues
Bruh cherry MX is the most popular though
get diff board, not switches
And I like the blue switches
Doesnt mean its the best…..
bleh, clicky
U ever tried smth else?
box whites are way better than blue switches
I've bought switches from them too, same story, in comparison to other switches from Gatreon for example
who cares about most popular if they aren't the best? though in fairness, it's (probably) a matter of preference anyway
I just feel like Cherry MX is so overrated
If u say u like blues ur basically saying u never tried anything else except cherry mx
most popular ... clearly not the best
I'm interested in what shortcuts/keys you use the most. I'm a software dev and I've been using a 60 (moved to 65 recently) for quite a while
I used 60% for programming as well, not a problem at all
O thats rare that i see a software developer that uses anything below 75%
I'm not a huge shortcut user though. I'm pretty quick with the mouse
cherry is only popular because "gaming" keyboards for most people others know cherry from their old boards
for me it's 65% for now ...
Hmm i see
I try to stay away from the mouse as much as possible, still used 60% quite comfortably
main reason to stay away from the mouse is to avoid having to move the hands unnecessarily, and a smaller keyboard also helps with that
Most popular gaming switch shpuld be gatheron optical if we look at specs only
Yeah same I don't really use shortcuts and macros although I will set a few when my macro board is operational
I just like the extra space on the desk for gaming - get to whip my hand around more
Arentthe arrow keys a must with software developing?
And I'm just saying, a lot of people like them
that's what make them so popular
They should spec wise
it doesn't matter much
they like them cause they usually haven't tried anything else
I use arrow keys all the time - they are super easy to use on a 60 after a couple days of owning one
yes, but they are very accessible on a 60% tbh, at least on my Ducky One2 Mini they were, maybe even more than my TKL
65% is for me the best choice tbh
people like cherry as they haven't tried other switches and are used to their keyboard
people love Cherry MX because they had patented the tech until not too many years ago, but man have they ever lost a lot of the market already lol
hated the arrows being where they are, and having keys so close to the enter and backspace key etc, I just couldn't do it 😛
I just switched to a 65 and I can tell I'm going to love the physical arrow keys and delete + end keys. Will be ever so slightly faster
if they don't step up their games I'm not sure about the future of that company in the really long term
maybe if I built a 65% of my own, and just mapped it how I prefer it
some are 99% custom mapping
Do any of you use page up/down keys?
usually you can't move the FN key ... usually ... probably some can
yeah, my Keychron K6 couldn't be remapped I think?
sometimes
or quite a bit actually
That true yh
I use page up/down really rarely ... I use home and end way more
There Bit out of reach
yeah, I use all those 6 keys quite a bit personally
I never had any use for insert and scrl lock
scrl lock is above though, idk what it even does 😂 same with pause
not since the '90
so out of those 9 keys, I don't use those last 2 ever
same with the rage mode key (capslock), so useless
What does scroll lock even do apart from being good for macros lol?
Caps lock is my friend thanks to SQL lol
think it's supposed to lock scrolling
I just write lowercase sql commands, doesn't matter
useful to enter some alphanumerical combo with numbers when it's all in caps ...
It doesn't tho
STRL+SHIFT+U iirc toggles casing in my IDE, but I guess it can be handy sometimes
Since when is scroll lock good for macros?
isn't it to underline ?
yeah, my guess is that was what it used to do, but software doesn't implement it anymore, but it's just guessing based off of the key's label
It has no other purpose, so....
Its a scroll lock only…
because it's a key that does nothing useful, so you may as well repurpose it for something more suitable?
scroll lock can be useful for those that use excel a whole lot
O like that
Thought he meant scroll lock itself is usefull for macros
figured 😛
Off the cuff in an editor I use lowercase as well, but for checking-in changes to a stored proc/table/etc. I use all caps
but yeah, no, it's pretty useless for majority of people
Well if he did that would be dumb
I remove my home and page up button aswell tbh
Gotta put the scroll wheel to use i guess
G502 here we go
well, in that case I'd just use my IDE to change the casing 😛 impo it's no difference between lowercase and uppercase SQL
home and end are really useful to me
Tell me
I have that, good mouse 🙂
I have 3 wireless ones
Od mouse aswell
only have 4 mouse
I use all the buttons so cant really switch
G502 lightspeeds??
2-3 Corsair IronClaw, 1 Roccat Leadr (partly defective), 1 Razer Mamba (shit wireless tech, basically useless), G903(?), G502, Pro X Superlight
Get a PowerPlay mouse, will change your life lol
O like that
yeah, I have a POWERPLAY mat, it's modified and ready to be recessed into my desk, so I can put any mouse pad on top

No tf why
Picture
I haven't plugged my mouse into a cable since I got the thing back in March, that's why
this is what I have right now 😛
I have one of the first wireless from logitech ... the one with a huge receiver
the g305
cooler master mm710
xtrfy m42 retro
it's been a WIP for a minute now
Cant really see it
I've been meaning to buy a new desktop
you can, the housing is taken apart, so you can see the modified wiring 😂
I just charge my main every 2 days for 10 min when i sleep
And the one for school every 3 weeks
I also cut off the rubber thing on it to get rid of excess rubber stuff
Did u change rhe surface aswell i really dislike the surface of the poweplay pad
I can whenever I get someone to CNC a pocket for the charging mat that's flush with the desk top surface
You can just shove the powerplay underneath a mousepad and it'll still charge - that's what I'm doing with the LTT mousepad. I'm not sure the maximum thickness this would work tho
my plan is to get the wiring on the underside of my desk, so it's 100% invisible from the top side, and effectively gives me an actually wireless moues that's always charged and ready to go
I know, but that's janky as f
Whaaaaat no way
think it'll work fine with 4mm mouse pad tbh, probably depends a bit on the mouse pad itself though
I thought u made it in the wood of ur desk at first tho
that's what I will do
that way I don't have to account for the height difference of the small area that the POWERPLAY is on under the main mouse pad
O hmm
I still rather charge it every few days
started designing a mouse pad concept
Looks great
but that's where I left it off months ago 😂
Really like that tbh
Tbh, in the desk would look way better though - there is a visible bump in my mousepad where the powerplay ends
yeah, can't do it, I keep forgetting 😂
I just put it on the charger at night tbh
yeah, that's what I mean - I didn't by any means try to say it was a bad solution 😛 because what I'm talking about is not trivial, maybe even significantly expensive too
Even when its empty its only 5 min charge for 50%
yeah, if I remembered to do that... life with ADHD I guess 😂
Right right - putting it in the desk will make it look nice and seamless
I mean, for me, it's more about the tech than the function, but it's a nice convenience while at it though
and I absolutely hate how small the Logitech POWERPLAY pad portion is, they could've made the charging area X portion of the larger pad...
because the tech with wireless charging is limited in the area it can cover
but that doesn't limit you making a bigger mouse pad portion on top of it...
Theres is a rather easy remedy for adhd
