you can also fit in some other keycaps or switches with the leftover
personally i like to have mono led so i got this one
still in transit so cant say a lot about the quality but from many of the reviews i saw it is a respectable model for the price and the presence of hot swap is a god send for when a key malfunctions(has happened to me with other cheap boards)
It can be same size or above. So you can do 87K+.
Will surely consider
guys
BlitzWolf BW-KB2
how is this one?
both the listings look great, dk about the barebones kit
anyone know whats best quiet mechanical keyboard
depends on the budget
there's no best
Womier WK61 is an RGB Mechanical Keyboard with 61 keys. It has various application designs, such as two-color Pudding key caps, Translucent bottom case, All keys without conflict, Hot-swappable, brilliant color backlit, control of hardware backlit, make your own key function and FN multi-function...
apparently this is a good keyboard
for the price I mean
it looks pretty nice (imo anyway), apparently it's pretty decent for the price too (according to randomfrankp)
and since it's hotswap, it's probably a decent foundation to use for customizing as well
maybe, i would go for the ilovbee i61 though
The hands down best board for the price rn, gives you more budget for switches, lube, keycaps etc
not wireless though, so if thats a dealbreaker then dont get it
Does anyone have experience desoldering Leopold keyboards? Heard they can be tricky
you could retrofit wireless in it though, if you wanted to - although I'm not sure how well it fits the necessary components
you could I guess, but you would need to fit a battery in it which i dont know how big of one could fit, but you could probably buy a rk61 or something similar for that price and time
yeah, you need to consider how much space it has internally for a battery, charging module/board, as well as wireless transmitter
don't need a huge battery, but the smaller you get, the less battery life you'll have too
If I wanna order a board online, is there any way to know what the different switches are like other than trying them when you get it?
I’m unsure what my current keyboards switches are, so I have no reference between different keys
If you go the make your own route, you can build a pretty quiet one
I personally use stock silent alpaca switches, but with lube and a good dampening pad in your board housing, you can make a really quiet keyboard
you can buy switch sample kits, but they can be bit expensive
but depending on how particular you are with your keyboard preferences, it's probably enough to know whether you want tactile, clicky, or linear switches
also which keyboard you have now if you want something that feels similar to it
and to find what switches you have now, you can pull one of the keycaps off of it, and you should be able to see the color of the cross the keycap is sitting on
presumably by looking close you should be able to tell the brand of the switch too - most likely a Gatreon or Cherry MX switch I would guess
probably depends on the set I would guess
yeah, but most keyboards should follow a very similar standard, so you can fit custom keycaps to them
no clue what an rk 84 is though, but there are some keyboards that are just too custom afaik
never heard of rk, but from looking it up, it does look like a pretty normal 75% keyboard layout
rk are decent boards for there price, I'd personally save and opt for an akko or keychron tho
he was looking at keycaps though, so presumably he already has the keyboard(?)
unless I missed something that is
tkl best size
I kept going back to my One2 Mini for some reason, which is 65%
Kinda wanna change the keycaps of my RK100, what do you guys reccomend?
Something cheap
Also probably like gray and simple
what is 98%
anything larger than TKL is too large
yes
100% but squished
it doesn't look good
tkl perfect size
not too small or too big
CoolerMaster MK730 TKL is unironically one of the better keyboards I've used (MX Brown switches)
has function and arrow keys and the other important stuff
No numpad
my Ducky One2 Mini has everything I need too!
Numpad is non negotiable
who tf needs a numpad though
what do you even need a numpad for?
numpad is useless
Calc
unless you need it for flying in certain games
Writing a lot of numbers
i got some %60 keyboard with blue switches
Writing your ssn
if I got a tkl keyboard it would've been better
ssn?
can do that just fine with the numbers row - I would even go as far as saying I bet I could do it quicker than you with the number row!
Social security number
We use it a lot in my country
Or its equivalent, rather
Smh smh smh
takes me about 2 seconds to type it out with numrow
Based and redpilled
what's redpilled
Like you
ok then
I'm new to keyboards but I want linear switches which sound creamy idk how to explain but its a bit damped but not clicky when it hits the bottom
Any recommendations
ping me for answers
whats the budget tho
200€
Custom white or beige keycaps preferably white
and custom switches
I would say less than 200€ for a first keyboard to experiment but I think you cant find anything good for 100 or 150€
I want a 100% keyboard with numpad n all cuz its used in some games
and my password is faster to type on the numpad
My kind of good sounding keyboard turned out to either have extremely old and unrecognizable switches, or it's membrane 😔
I'd recommend looking at Akko and Keychron
https://akkogear.de/
https://keychron.com/
do keycaps change the sound of the keyboard?
im planning to put hyperx pudding keycaps on my redragon k552
Metal spacebars sound like your dropping a penny. It's so terrible :(
can you ship it unassambled on keychron?
They have barebones
G815 packs advanced gaming technologies into an ultra-thin and sophisticated design. Fully customisable per key LIGHTSYNC RGB technology also reacts to in-game action, audio and screen colour as you choose. With a sleek, impossibly thin yet durable and sturdy design, G815 features high-performanc...
any thoughts?
I like low profile, wish it was tkl but it's on sale...
Logitech ... :/
I thought they made good stuff...
I see... would it be better to go with a cheaper brand then?
thanks, will do
Keychron K3 Ultra-Slim 75% ISO-UK-Layout Wireless Bluetooth/Wired USB Mechanical Keyboard,84 Keys Hot Swappable Low-Profile Keychron Optical Brown Switch White LED Backlit for Mac Windows-Version 2 https://amzn.eu/d/cg2nVQk
This looks like exactly what I want, thanks for recommending @unkempt dome
they have barebones and fully assembled depending on the model (they have a lot of models)
Just picked up the Corsair K95. Taking some time to get used to it.
I am trying to help my friend find red switches keyboard for around 60 bucks,What would you recommend?
my condolences
I hated my K70
how much did you have to pay for it?
Keychron make good and affordable keyboards, usually with hotswapable switches
Is rk61 a good choice?
no experience with it, never heard of the brand - that brand is not a thing in Norway
icue has a learning curve, but its very powerful once you get used to it
are cherry speedsilver switches good?
they are one of the better Cherry MX switches, but there are better switches from other manufacturers
Ok i can get them for free from a friend so ill settle for now
Its a great choice
however, if you dont care about wireless the ilovbee i61 is cheaper and still very good
so you have more budget for better switches and keycaps
What switches do you currently have?
free is free
honestly for free switches, they're totally usable. Enjoy!
Bummer! I have a K-something.... I quite like it.
well, if you like it, that's what matters! 🙂
I keep going back to my Ducky One2 Mini (brown switches)
I recently got the Discord keyboard, and that's pretty decent (also brown switches)
I have never found the 'perfect' KB.
and you never will if you start looking, ask anyone who tried 😂
Probably more choice in KB than any other peripheral.
I will end up getting a few variations of keyboard cases, and some hotswap PCBs for them, then swap between switches (lubed and non-lubed), keycaps, etc
sound equipment has a fair amount of choices too 😂
Yeah.
not only can you go get some extremely expensive headphone, amp, and dac, but you can also get multiple amp/dac combos for the same pair of headphones for a new sound experience 😂
guess it's pretty much like keyboards, just even more expensive
I find it harder to pick a KB than headphones tho.
thank you!
i also have a k70 lmao
My corsair mouse did die but I use it a lot and its a few years old. Might have a go at fixing it when I can be arsed. iirc it's the wheel that died.
hmm, not to me, keyboards are significantly less expensive - usually anyway
I have 2, one in pieces, 1 is broken from water damage
was gonna play with the second, make the cable detachable, practice soldering, maybe do some modifications, such as wireless - we'll see 😂 another one of my soon™️ projects
Do people like tenkeyless? Personally I use the number pad multiple times a day
(Mainly for my pin and calculations)
Yes
Meh ... it's preference but in the grand scheme of things you can find speed switches better than cherry ones ...
I used to use the numpad all the time, but after switching over to TKL, it became obsolete quite quickly
Tkl is too big for me ... 65%ftw
right now I use a 65% keyboard, so I don't even have dedicated arrow keys 😂
it's my go to even for programming where I tend to use arrow keys A LOT
Yes
ah, my bad! thanks for clarifying that lol
but yeah, 60% is my go to even for programming 😂
Akko 3068b multimode
just couldn't get used to the layout with page up being print screen etc
Fn p is print screen
I read the manual before getting the board to be sure there was nothing absurd or annoying to me
looks very nice
I like how the mouse actually matches the colors, dont see that often
Xtrfy m42 retro color
ah
yeah, problem is I'm like "Oh, I can get used to that, np!" 😂
haven't bought any keyboards in a minute now though
I mainly wanted a decent wireless one, preferably one with 2.4Ghz as well as Bluetooth (well, doesn't really need BT that bad, but it would be neat)
Me who has a full with numpad and all lmao
Some retro looking caps on drop I really like. Can't remember the name for the life of me. Kinda wanna get them for a bitchin' sleeper build I wanna do in an old beige tower.
Well... I think they were on drop.
Spose' ultimate would be model F but that hekkin expensive.
yeah, get rid of that shit!
chop off that right side of it then, DIY TKL
I was joking anyway, don't chop it off 😛
Haha i thought so
it would look terrible for one, and I'm fairly sure you'd end up breaking it regardless
What kind of budget you talkin?
honestly any
just throw some options at me from various budget categories I guess - if you have the time and care to
I mean I probably won't spend $1k on a keyboard, but I'm curious about the options out there - for just the right keyboard I might even be crazy enough to spend $1k if I can manage to set aside that amount of money for a keyboard😂
https://www.mechmap.tech/themap this is a nice site that highlights some of the best kbs in different price ranges and styles and sizes
the one I use right now is 60%, but TKL is nice too
Cant go wrong with a bakeneko
Bakeneko60 Endgame feel, affordably priced CannonKeys is proud to offer an affordable in-stock aluminum keyboard with great sound and feel. Originally designed by kkatano, the Bakeneko60 is an open-source keyboard featuring an o-ring gasket. An o-ring between the plate and PCB provides friction to hold the plate/PCB
oo I like this Lavender color ngl
The colors are really nice
yeah, anything specific you'd recommend?
well im most well versed in budget boards and typically just use wired so idk many specific higher end boards, kbd67 or kbd75 is a great board but idk whether it does 2.4 or not
i suggest taking a look thru the site i linked and seeing if any catch your eye
I guess something I could do is just get a BT kbd and retrofit a lightspeed module from a Logitech kbd into it
yeah, I already did, will take a closer look tomorrow! thanks for the tips 🙂
I don't really care what it costs though tbf, as long as it's good - I'm not the kind of snob that goes for the expensive shit to get expensive shit 😛
Found a good deal and jumped on it :)
Speed silver
Yeah yeah I know gaming prebuilt board this and that
But darnit this was cheap
imo rk61 is a better buy but if you like it thats all that matters
That's quite expensive for a used corsair keyboard
What? No it’s not. Corsair is 100% better
No it’s not lol
Regular price is $131
literally not true lel
corsair boards are built like dog shit, not close to worth 130
Ok for one, RK stabs are horrible and Corsair stabs are actually decent
2 RK switches suck
switch options I mean
Corsair had better software
i mean at worst outemu as scratchy as cherry retooled
Huh?
yes
once upon a time the king of budget linear
up until akko sprung up with their cs switch lineup
no? I have an rk84 and the stabs were pretty solid stock, rk switches are solid as well, they are rebranded kailh switches which are on par sometimes better than cherrys
depends on which switch tho
RK browns are better than cherry browns as well as the blues
dont know how good the reds are tho
i think if i have more money then i could get one then i can buy when i am going to mod my keyboard 🤡
There is no way your stabs are fine stock. You have to HEAVILY tune them for them to sound even some what decent
delusional
yea, true
i personally modded them and it took me maybe 10? 15? Minutes
I didn’t say it takes long
Where did I say that it takes long to mod them?
Who’s delusional now
why are you debate lording for corsair keyboards?
bc RK sucks
ok bro
the pretty much unanimously agreed to be the best board for the price sucks
defo
Send a sound test of your RK stabs
im not debating w u so cya
🧂
still, 130 msrp usd for not even hyperglide cherry and in a basic ass 60% with corsair branding and bloatware slap onto it
sounds like a great deal huh
still better than RK
RK is probably best for a budget of under 100
bc you can mod it very easily
Sorry best for beginners on a budget
Maybe if you replace the stabs it would be fine
I would use an RK if there was different stabs
and linears
nice linears
Ugh, that bad? I’m hoping I get use to it enough and liking it. I found it on Mercari for $50 so I couldn’t pass it up. Looked like the previous owner hardly used it. Like new condition.
GMK is compatible with more boards that have more functionality
a lot more features doesn’t necessarily cut it, there has to be a catch in merely only that instance
Such as excessive resource consumption considering other applications that can do far more than save settings for devices
another thing some people like is minimalism; I don’t wanna use my Corsair keyboard on the go and be targeted by some expert thief or get mobbed by poor children dreaming of RGB lalaland
For some reason mainstream gaming companies have to make products that aren’t software-less and sometimes rely on the software to live up to its marketing
Whereas Ducky does a damn fine job of using hardware based macro mapping and now has a signature FaZe X ducky keyboard
For those who don’t pay attention to the topic, FaZe is an esports org
Which demonstrates it ain’t good software which attracts pro gamers
If you’re a Corsair diehard, I understand how invested you might be and how practical your fav company’s innovations may appear to you
But for now it appears the company is heading in the profit only direction
Not too bad, I paid over $100 for mine if not close to 200, can’t remember been a while since I bought them
Worth 20$
I understand that, and totally agree you don’t need software. I was just pointing out the fact that it has better software.
It’s lightly used
Just a few times
New is $110
And I don’t really care if y’all say it’s a horrible board
I like them, also really like the software
Would you guys say its worth it to buy the razer huntsman v2?
Everyone in this channel is a keyboard snob and will tell you that a custom $400 board is the only way to go
Haha
Is true though
I suspected that
Told me a k70 pro was absolutely garbage tier- 4 months in and loving it so much
Am nearly a year in with a logitech g910 and g902 and it's good enough
naw bro
custom $2k board
only way to keyboard
Idk how you could spend 2k
Literally best keyboard I could buy for myself is about $400 and then requires some custom work which is absolutely less than 1k
A keychron will be better than most gaming keyboard for half the price ... you don't need a 400$ keyboard to have something better than a gaming one
people have complained about input latency with keychron
I have no prob on my keychron
Then get leopold
but I can't say I'm good enough at FPS to notice any
And yeah my master kb is a keychron q6 with shine thru caps, whatever good switches, and a modified pcb to use North facing switches
Or varmilo, or durgod, or ducky, or akko
And optionally a modified case to use bottom Routed cables, and the normal usb c as a passthru
That's the dream
ugh I wish mine were north facing LEDs
I'd love to use shine-thru with a static backlight
Yeah
I don't use led on my keyboard
I'm very very slowly working on designing a replacement pcb which rotates every switch around
I don't know why the hell they have leds and then use South facing
It's nice to have backlight at night when I don't wanna turn on any lights
Around keycap lighting
Silly
But I guess the board don't even come with shine thru so you aren't intended to use led in the first place
it doesn't; just a personal preference\
I don't like the profile of the stock caps I replaced them with $20 shine thus immediately
But they really don't shine thru very well
Even if I turn around the cap to stimulate North facing its kinda crap, terrible compared to my $40 2014 keyboard that has non pbt caps shine thru
Apparently akko is making a shine thru set that is hopefully better
True what was I thinking
I’m a moron, obviously
Just got my 35$ hot swappable keyboard and replaced the keycaps💀man this is a good upgrade compared to non changeable rgb boards
that depends though, I generally don't like Razer myself... what does it cost?
usually it feels like Razer just prices their crap based on the fact that kids will buy it as fashion products, just because it's Razer
£150
way more than what I'd pay for something like that
you'd get way more for your money elsewhere
what exactly appeals to you about the Huntsman V2?
recomondations?
maybe
switches and aluminium body
which switches though? they have multiple alternatives
don't have any experience with those switches tbf, or what they are like in comparison to other switches
fast and responsive?
long day
i meant responsive
well fast response time
I mean, I don't think my Cherry MX Brown equipped Ducky One2 Mini would be much slower
true
unless you mean travel distance before the switch activates (I'm not too into all the details of kbds, so not trying to be a pita over technicalities)
Well I like the idea of upgrading the switches over time with the same body
but it does seem like the optical red ones are meant to be similar to other red switches
meh i may buy it but will look elsewhere
does it even have hotswap?
if it doesn't, you'll have to desolder and solder in new switches
ahhhhh
doesn't seem to have hotswap from Razer's product page
np
Keychron do make some very affordable keyboards, that are actually very good too
ill give them a look
lots of variations, though I suspect wireless performance will vary depending on circumstances etc, if you look at wireless
ok thx
keychron is one of the good options for someone who is starting out imo, their stock is good enough but also offers a lot of customisation
yeah, and I'd probably even got as far as saying they are good period 😛
sure, you can probably get better
but at least if you don't want to dish out $400 or so right away, you can go with a Keychron as a foundation and mod it along the way
yeah, i do like their aesthetic
here with a 35$ hot swappable rn
yeah, idk if you'd be limited with their chassis and/or PCBs though, but at least you can do a lot of other stuff with them
if starting out im sure someone would first try going for DIYable mods
like me here, tried to use elmers glue to destroy a board
I would play with different keycaps and switches first
maybe some foam and lube as well
maybe some stabilizers
keycaps did work for me. Cheap keyboards have really bad keycaps sometimes so i invested in some hyperx pudding keycaps. They were much better to the glossy ones that came with the keyboard
yeah
I took the keycaps off of my Ducky One2 TKL and threw on it
I keep going back to use my 60% Ducky One2 Mini though
btw, i wanted to ask if outemu switches also exist in 2 pin variation??
i hear about duckys a lot but i dont quite like the look
mine just looks like a black small keyboard 😛 they are good, but idk if I'd be adamant about recommending them over something else
are these the ones you have?
like get a Keychron and some other keycaps (unless you happen to like the ones it comes with), and you have a keyboard just as good imo
yeah, with black enter key though
yeah, i just dont like the edges a lot
also done with rgb
static backlight is fine
yeah, RGB just happens to be there for most stuff
mine are like a purple-ish static color, and I haven't changed it in ages
could probably just turn it off entirely too 😛
but RGB is nice because you can change the color profile of your stuff whenever you want
Need something small/portable and not super noisy so I can use it in public. Don’t care if wired or wireless
Under $200
Or so.
Same as mechanical red with a but less friction
Only with other optical switches ... and the choices are really limited
It's 3 pins or 5 pins ...
Some keychron 60%, 65% or 75%
Or akko in the same size
If you want low profile and with a case then nuphy air lineup
I’ll give them a look. This is going to be a travel keyboard for my steamdeck
Nice
That nuphy air looks awesome. I’ll probably do that.
It's a good board ... not perfect but good
Good is all I need. Don’t wanna carry around the pinnacle of all keyboards in my backpack
Indeed
anyone know what this means im trying to install the icue software for my new keyboard
Run it as administrator
ok
So I recently started a RK84 build with Akko CS Lavender Purples (Unlubed). I bought Glube to mod the stabs and they turned really good. Is it fine to lube the switch with left over Glube or do i need something lighter?
I might also use Super Lube for the spring.
Let me ask why you have mc launcher and mc on your homepage.
Mc launcher has bedrock and java built-in now.
overclock your keyboard fr
Up that polling rate
Lmao
Anyone know of any think usbc/wireless keebs like the horus?
Logitech G Pro X Superlight suffered today
bottom corner chipped off, now I have a hole which is probably gonna short the PCB if I happen to spill water into it and the feet were pushed in
does manufacturer's warranty apply or is it retailer, since I didn't buy it right off the Logitech G website?
oh shit I hope my sensor lens isn't damaged as well
it would appear a clean half is gone
Is the huntsman mini analog good
nope
if you want analog buy the Wooting 60HE instead
pretty sure they're not that far apart in price tag
in my experience Razer products are mostly cheap hardware with a Razer logo at an expensive price
Nah I’m not paying double because of customs
Analog is good in reviews
my advice is to buy something other than Razer, there are plenty good keyboards that aren't Razer and aren't twice the price of a Razer keyboard
though I'm sure if you're an average PC user, you'll be happy with a Razer keyboard as well, they aren't necessarily bad - it just seems they don't last very long
If you don't need analog you should get like a ducky one 3 mini or something
also I bought a Razer Mamba Wireless (which tbf is a mouse), and man was that ever a bad mouse! wireless was stuttering and just overall a terrible solution
Happened to my te mamba but worse
Keychron is probably a good alternative too, they are also cheaper than Ducky(?)
Yes
I have a Wooting One at home somewhere, collecting dust
yeah, idk their model names either, just know that they are fairly affordable and fairly good too, like objectively good keyboards
afaik most of their keyboards are hotswap too
so if you want to get some ezpz upgrades in the future to spice it up, you can get new switches and keycaps
yeah, I know
I've considered switching out my One2 for a One3 😛
but kinda want to go back up to a TKL keyboard, guess there is also One3 TKL
perhaps that is the route I should take, One3 TKL, buy some lube, some foam, and see what becomes of it
Meanwhile with my g413 which was 40 bucks on sale
I might get a wireless Logitech keyboard just to get the wireless module out of it 😮
haven't done any research on how well it'd work if I retrofit it into another keyboard haha
qc?
Quality control
that's nice tbh
I did look at the G915 TKL, because it looks nice, from the pics it looks like it's decent build quality too
and the wireless tech is as far as I'm aware very good
but I'm not a huge fan of the low profile (I think)
Logitech wireless is the best
also doesn't look like it's hotswap
I also tend to want to steer away from the mainstream (gamer) keyboards (or anything mainstream (gamer) tbh), because a lot of the time it seems they are more expensive because of their market position
like Razer for example; just make something look nice, perform average, price it alongside competition, kids will buy them anyway
which is true, but if that's actually what they do, that's very eehhh
there is also the Everest Max, but I'm not sure it's worth the price
if you want nothing more than a basic keyboard with your built-in low latency tech, Xtrfy K4/5
completely driverless, no software
Hmm, might give that a look
What foam do I buy and where from if I want to foam my ducky keyboard for example?
I is no idea
I'm the basic level nerd, you'll want to ask @spark hatch
no worries, was asking the channel as a whole 😄
I'm also a basic level nerd with too many prebuilts 😂
yeah, I get why you answered it though haha
for a budget option the Pulsar Lunar Alloy TKL is there
because it was obvious I asked you, even if I didn't, because of how Discord works and how I decided to do it xD
$49, non-hotswap but easy to foam/cotton mod and the like
yeah, I would like to play with foam on for example my Ducky One2 TKL
the barebones PCMK for the same price, same and you get the Pulsar software for control as a plus
both are transparent though
also wondering what limitations the chassi and/or PCB in a prebuilt will be
so you see the PCB inside
well soldered switches duh
I mean hotswap ones 😛
and maybe a harder time getting into the keeb
with screws hidden under feet and such
yeah, sometimes that's the case, but that's fine
if you happen to have a spotty deal, bad build quality
as is the case for my Logitech Pro X
was more thinking about if I retrofit a Logitech wireless module in a wireless bluetooth keyboard for example 😛
hotswap, but creaky plastic chassis
With hotswap Cherry AND Choc AND RGB AND e-paper!

this looks cool
I wonder what becomes of it
a lot of his content is about 3D printing
also if the new PCB ends up solving the issues he's talking about in the video, surely people are going to make chassis for it 😮
guess I could design my own PCB too, but haven't had the time to get into that
I also wonder how I can make my own USB cables, or well, source the right stuff that I need without paying an arm and a leg
I guess it's mostly about which housing or whatever I want to cover the plug itself
I was pinged whats up?
discussing keyboard stuff 😮
I had a question that apparently you're the right guy to answer haha
this is what I'm talking about, bit bad example, because satechi mass produces their cables, so they have had a manufacturer design something, which will be extremely expensive for me if I just want a few cables(?)
this was the question you were pinged for initially
but a good portion of the following convo is also probably relevant if you want to chime in 🙂
Huntsman mini has incredible build quality Btw
tbh that's one of the qualities of Razer, they like to use alu bodies on their keyboards
so that's at least pretty nice
The switches on the analog mini are also really nice offering variable actuation and analog ability
you could get that with the Wooting 2 or 60HE
and the Steelseries Apex Pro
problem with Razer is that their analog functionality is quite inaccurate at times
Nah I’ve watched multiple reviews and reviews over time and it seems just as good
Also apex pro is ridiculously overpriced
Wooting isn’t available
I believe if you do buy Razer products, their keyboards are probably also their best products overall fwiw
their wireless mice is absolute garbage, at least last I bought one (like 4 years ago or something)
Or, very overpriced
for the top end stuff
the Razer orochi has a sensor that'll do the trick but has some deviation problems with DPI
I bought a Mamba Wireless thing, with RGB 😂 so yeah, wasn't cheap
well, using the mouse wired wasn't too bad, but if I were buying a wired mouse, I could've gotten a much cheaper one
Endgame Gear XM1r, Xtrfy Mz1/M4/M42
I bought a Roccat Leadr, which was even more expensive - however the wireless worked pretty flawless and the mouse was very nice, I liked that one a lot
Glorious Model O, Pulsar Xlite
G-wolves skoll mini
the Pulsar is also wireless, now in its second iteration
I just bought a Logitech G502 Lightspeed, because I wanted one compatible with Logitech POWERPLAY
then I bought second hand Pro X Superlight and G903 as well
chipped off the bottom corner
how did that happen?
and now the feet are pushed into the PCB area
oof, break/bend them out?
tripped over someone, booted my laptop bag with enough force it'd be like a basketball dropping from a diving platform
now I suspect the sensor lens is also damaged
oh, doesn't sound like something covered by warranty, sounds like insurance would be your bet
I'm aware of stuff some people don't see, like the occasional stutters my cursor now has
seems to be DPI over/undershooting sometimes
but on the + side, you got a mouse for spare parts, or parts to mod another mouse - if that's appealing to you to do for some fun
well I'm not sure about that
the little hole in the housing doesn't seem like an easy fix
and I don't have that much to spend no more
on 3D printed frames and the like
well, there are mice you can fit for example the charging circuit into, and then buy a POWERPLAY power core (the charging puck), open that and fit that into it as well
then you can charge it wirelessly with POWERPLAY in the future if you chose to get a POWERPLAY pad
or you could not buy the puck and just buy a Qi pad, and charge it wirelessly with that 😛
many possibilities, but the nice thing about the POWERPLAY solution is that it'll charge your mouse while you use it
hi... i just built my first mechanical keyboard!!!
clicky
looks nice though!
clicky is nice to use too imo, aside from their noise, the noise they make makes me go crazy 😂
is this a good way to make my kwyboard sound quieter/thoccy? i placed paper in the switch
anyone?
Their currently wireless mice are some of the best at the moment, things have def changed
Anyone know how I unmap my analog input for razer analog kb
Specs?
Also has anyone used the new g pro 2.0 browns?
are these ok switches Tactile Mech-Domes
@vagrant blade what’s the keyboard
G213 PRODIGY
are they atleast decent
For that price you can get more bang for you bucks with something like a keychron board
Depends what do you want in your keyboard
Do you like a tactile feedback when you press a key or just a linear force
what is the difference
tactile has a bump so to speak, linear is just linear
even force all the way, while tactile needs more force past a certain point
Helps with some people to know when they actually “press” a key
I like brown switches for example, they are tactile
some people prefer red switches, which are linear
and there are a ton other switch variations out there, but all boils down to tactile, clicky, and linear
Anyone want the keycaps that came stock on my keychron q6 (carbon black pre-built)
How do I get rid of these lmao
eat them 😮
is there any major difference between low profile cherry mx reds and the normal ones or no
is one just smaller
I would think there will be less travel distance but I have never used a low profile switch so I am not sure
I was looking into this not too long ago and yes, you do have less travel
thats fine
i was wondering if one would break faster or not
i play rythm games a lot so that was a big concern
Take normal ones
Not cherry branded
Lube them
Have some spare
Have an hotswap board
im just trying to get a prebuilt board that isnt horrible so by the time i need a new one im able to get one
Also long pole switches
just get a prebuilt with hotswap lol
yeah, not really much point these days I would say
do you get any benefits from soldered switches?
something you can't possibly get without
nah, that's not relevant
you pop them back in, np
but either way, a soldered or hotswap would break if you throw it
my little sister likes hiding things
might've recently got one of those lol
how long can I expect it to last before I have to get a soldering iron out?
weeks to years
too many variables to give an accurate answer
(probably gonna use it 6-8hrs a day, gateron lp browns)
yeah no, nobody can give you an accurate answer to it really
look at the specs of it, it should have something about how many presses it's designed to be able to take before it breaks
says (up to) 50M so quick napkin math says about 2 years at the bare minimum (Imma cross fingers and hope for 5)
ok napkin math was wrong
Hey, has anyone experience with import tax in Germany or the EU with keychron keyboards
Germany VAT regulations apply, it'll be handled during customs clearance
Keychron's pricing is without VAT
according to their FAQ, Germany haven't previously charged VAT on Keychron keyboards
mx blue, rk61 board
Yo, searched if razer cortex was installed but all I get are two logos and p sure when I plugged in my keyboard it installed it as I selected all programs.
When I search for it in settings it doesn't pop up sooo tf does this mean?
Uninstall and reinstall?
You built a custom keyboard…. And put blues in it.
I don’t even have words to describe how disappointed I am
Just finished a gmmk pro build, lubed tealios v2 67g and kbdfans sweet girl keycaps
anyone know of a good budget wireless keyboard thats tkl but also low profile, but not as high prices as keychron? not to say keychron is bad, its just crazy expensive
even buying from amazon w/ free shipping is expensive
is there like soemthing thats like atleast $70 for wut im looking for?
also ya i may want backlit forgot to mention so i can see the keys at dark
I'm looking at getting a razer BlackWidow V3, is there anything bad with this keyboard?
Not a bad keyboard, but you can probably get a better value/specific to your preferences for about the same price
K
I really like it, was just wondering if anyone was like "don't get it, it's really bad" or smthn
I’ve never had an issue with any of my razer keyboards, I just prefer custom stuff now
anyone?
what rubbishly said, also it tends to be pretty loud with a kinda not so great sound profile imo, you can get a better feel and sound at a lower price and a much better feel and sound at the same price
clarification, its a yellow key switch, not the green switches
there r 2 types i think
and i had a play around at a mates, and i really like it
as i said b4, its just incase there is a major problem with it
i mean I personally cant recommend but if you love it then thats what you like so go for it
sadly yes, im lubing gat yellows and putting them in
im trying not to get used to blues
Keychron is basically budget friendly while also good - not sure there really are other good alternatives, especially wireless ones... Keychron K6 iirc is wireless, but not TKL though, it also costs like $60-$90 depending on which configuration you get
k2 is legit 79 dollars
k8 is 72
guys suggest me a good mechanical gaming keyboard under 60-65$
i need full
its more than 130$ in my region
keychorn c1 for full size
if rk and keychron is over budget just go to your local tech store and find smthn
yea it doesa
ohk
cause they're good boards
For the price there's hardly anything better than keychron and akko as far as I know ... that's why it's the go to suggestion ...
Oops

because they are cheap and good at the same time
also I think all of their keyboards (or most of them at least) have hotswap, so you are very flexible with what you can do to it in terms of maintenance and/or customizations
Ants is on my keyboard what the hell do I do
I removed the keyboard backplate but there is still some crawling out the logic board 😭
Oh thank goodness
Can someone tell me?
Buying ducky one 3 tkl matcha no rgb
Any cheap better alts?
Must be silent red silent black
ok thanks, but i mainly want low profile.
move over to #build-a-pc
@wraith reef yo sry i didnt realize i forgot to change channels
There's better silent that exist
Which you could put in an akko or keychron board
which ones
Hey I had asked for some recommendations on a low profile 65 yesterday, I suppose I forgot to mention I’m on Debian Linux (steamdeck) and I have decided wireless would be nice the more I think about it.
That nuphy air looks amazing for me but I heard mixed feedback on the wireless compatibility.
Uhhh keychronn k7?
I found a github page dedicated to keychronn compatibility so I’ll do that.
are their any switches that come in 2 pin config?
take a pic of your current 2 pin switch
I'm fairly sure you're mistaking a 2 pin for a 3 pin
Which keyboard is most comparable to Logitech G810 in feel, i love RomerG keys.... Cherrys have too much key wobble (stem moving from side to side)... However RomerG is defective by design, those small plastic pegs break on the caps and I'm on my 2nd keyboard now that started double typing/not registering randomly due to the flux corrosion issue with them... Which other brand have something where the keys have similar feel to RomerG
Try the cotton mod, dip honey on a cotton ball’s surface opposite that which will touch the PCB, once that’s got ants put on gloves and take the cotton out
well my “cotton mod tbh”
I don’t know if pesticide or insecticide is safe to use
That's actually really smart. Yea either do that or if you have compressed air blow them out
yeah, i’m lubing them with kyrtox 205g0
Not that I know of ... at least for cherry mx style switches
All the gateron silent line up
Kailh silent box lineup
Zeal zilent
Silent alpaca
And probably one of the best silent ones : boba silent lineup
If it's for gaming then forget about wireless bluetooth ... 2.4ghz is the best for that ...
I ordered a K7.
Anything with box stem will be better than normal cherry for wobble ... like kailh box lineup and there's some akko that also have that square around the stem
I only wanted the wireless functionality for if I wanna browse on the TV, if I’m gaming I’ll be sitting close enough where i can use a cable
Any big brand keyboards that actually use something else then cherry or cherry clones, that have similar feel to RomerG?
They’re on his PCB. Wanna have him electrocuted the next time he tries to use his keeb?

Ty ❤️
The only problem would be if he sticks it the wrong way around and the ants start enjoying a silicon feast
Another idea I have is to cut open the middle of the cotton ball, stick the honey in there then adhere it shut with the sticky properties of honey
Ants will form a circle around the incision but you won’t need gloves to avoid your fingers sticking
He won't get electrocuted
Hose it down and then rinse with an alcohol+toothbrush scrub
Let all the moisture under chips fully dry and ur good to go
Noice
Hmmmm
Yea well you can’t be sure how much moisture is within a nook or cranny that may not be dry
And that could be a crucial component
Maybe it’s just that I’m too paranoid and don’t know enough but that’s happened to me more than once
np
They are quite expensive man. You can buy a better keyboard with that price range
it's AUD
Yeah there's still some better options at that price range
neat, got any recommendations to look at?
Epomaker has some good ones if you can some on sale. Usually the colors that sell less are the ones you'll find super cheap
You can check their website directly or visit Amazon. By the way are you looking for a 60% or a full sized keyboard
full size baby
Ah full size alright let me check
That is in Canadian so it's 10% more expensive in AUD
that's alright, as long as i get a good keyboard for a reasonable price
ohh that looks nice
what's "hotswappable"?
It means that you can switch the key caps
For example if you have optical yellows and you want to swap them for something heavier etc you could play around
oh nice. is the cord detachable as well?
nws, thank you!
If you get an optical board you're stuck with optical switches and the choice is really limited
I would not go optical juste cause of that
wait... I thought it meant you could switch the switches
btw, if I wanted to, could I just unsolder and re-solder on any new switches? are they generally cross compatible like that or do I have to stay with the same manufacturer or something?
Ah yes my mistake keycaps are the top layer and then the lower layer on the pcb is the switches
So yes I theory any keyboard is key swappable
But not every keyboard is hotswappable
yes it does
he probably didn't type carefully
yea
Ya know a few weeks ago I was complaining about my keyboard switches (gateron optical yellow) being to sensitive. Turns out that I just had to get used to it. Now it feels pretty comfortable to type on it, the lubed switches sound amazing, they are very sensitive but it's nice over all after you get used to them.
https://a.co/d/4u28jxK 100-40$ off T83 for 60$, its a rebranded ik75 with pudding keycaps minus the pc plate really good deal good keyboard basically the best deal if you need tri-mode
akko board can be found for the same price or less
What's a good low profile tkl board with rgb
I’m trying to decide if I should build another keyboard
Currently I have an nk65 with silent alpacas
I’m thinking another nk65 with gateron black ink v2’s
Gotta get that thock factor
Why get the same base tho?
that's 3 pin
Yee 3 pin, the plastic bits count as a pin.
bro wtf im so dead rn
I made a custom board as a portable fight pad for some friends that are way too into guilty gear.
Firmware is mostly written just gotta solder the switches and OLED display onto it.
and repeat that 5 times
i wish i remembered the name of the keyboard of the person i met when i was on vacation
the board sounded amazing
it had backlight and was like $60 on amazon. but i do not remember the brand
it wasn't low profile but i remember saying man i'd buy that
What are some “must try” low profile switches? I’ve got the keychron reds right now
Besides this I’ve literally been using the same razer blackwidow since about 2011 😂😂😂
does akko have tactile switches?
there's not much low profile switches to begin with ... kailh shock are probably the go to and that's about it
Idk it works great and I didn’t even clean it until about 2 months ago 😂😂
The pics are in this thread. It was horrid
And it’s funny because I’m a germaphobe neat freak, I just never thought to clean under my keys
dang
i got my BW chroma v2 for chistmas 2018
it stopped being usable in mid 2020
then i got an apex 7 tkl
and now it's the same story
I will say my dang naga trinity is only 2 years old and is already having issues with the left click switch. Off topic for this Channel though
im looking for something ill be able to fix and also wont break after 2 years in the first place
budget
idk 200 or so
and size preferance?
tkl
I’m going to build a new keyboard for my desktop soon. Bout $800 budget or so so feel free to go hog wild tagging me in parts 😂 full size.
i would get the tiger lite but idk if i can justify not having any back lights
Keychron Q3 is a fully customized 80% TKL layout mechanical keyboard packed with all premium features and endless possibilities. Q3 is an all-metal keyboard that allows customizable capabilities for every key switch, keycap, knob, and stabilizer. It’s made for your personalized experience and a more comfortable typing experience.
keychron or akko would be my recommendation
keychron is an aluminum build
akko don't have tkl as of now ... they are planning on releasing one at some point tho
they dont? they have acouple dont they?
I have half a mind to just CNC my own case. Cuz why not. But also lazy.
they have tkl
maybe it's the most new one I thought was not released
ah maybe
why is backlit like not a thing anymore
and why are keyboards so complicated and hard to find good looking ones
like all the name brand (razor, logitech, corsair) 10/10 looks but then when it comes to back lit it's like only available in a weird color, has weird key caps and no back light or rgb
there are a few ofc that have rgb but there are other problems with them
the ctrl
i would buy that rn
but people say it's OP'd
That's why you go with enthusiast brands like Keychron and Ducky
I tend to run mine with RGB off during the day
But then at night, I'll turn it on dimly. Comes through pretty well
what board is that
GMMK Full Size
is it hot swappable
would you recommend it
Yeah, I've had it for a while now and I love it. Software is nice and unobtrusive, the deck of the board is a nice brushed aluminum, and the keys feel excellent. I got the brown switches, personally.
I got both their keyboard and mouse, they'll both probably last me 10 years or so
ok because after my razor died i went with the apex 7 tkl and it it didn't last much longer
While I would pick Steelseries over Razer, those are probably the worst two brands you could buy from, especially for keyboards.
dang i didn't know that lol
i would have gone with the everest core if they didn't do that stupid machining pattern
it looks awful
They just don't make good stuff. If you're going to go with a "name brand" like the kind that are popular in stores, Logitech is king, Corsair is second. But if you want keyboards to last you a long time, go the enthusiast route like Ducky, Keychron, Glorious, etc. You don't need to buy one big ecosystem and stick with it. My headset is a Hyper X Cloud II, keyboard and mouse are Glorious Model D and GMMK, and my mousepad is a Steelseries QcK+
Ironically, I'm pretty sure the only good thing Razer makes is their laptop, which is what most companies get wrong
if you ask me
the logitech carbon g512
is greatest looking board of all time
or the drop ctrl
That title belongs to the White Logitech G915
i think they ruined it with the top
drop ctrl ... nah it's really not good for the price
yeah ik but if i money wan't a problem i'd buy it
it looks good
it's everything i want in a keyboard but people keep telling me it's over priced
why is there no one else with a cheap ctrl clone
the get something better than some drop board
I would get that way before a drop keyboard ...
Premium custom mechanical keyboards manufactured in Denver. Personalized layout with multiple layers and LED patterns. Keyboard available for Windows, macOS, and Linux.
also akko board have backlight
in fact there the acr line that is focused on that
that layout 😬
best layout
idk i might just go with the glorious
gmmk is not as good as my akko
Yeah, I paid $110 including shipping for my GMMK
it's a nice board but clearly inferior imo
akko 3068b multimode
Yeah, exactly, that's why I went with Glorious
which layout is it that has an enter key that fills 2 spaces
Iso
Cause there's other places than just the USA that have needs for other keys layout
which keys should i get
also it makes it seem like it's like $20 more to pick your keys
It depends on what you like
^^
best sound but not scratchy like blues
not hard to press either
maybe even a click idk
rn my steel series doesn't have a click
it just feels like pushing down a spring
Brown switches then. Little bit of a click, but not super loud and annoying like blues.
thats a linear then, if you dont want that and would rather have physical feedback when it actuates then look into tactiles or clickies, for the sake of people around you i would go tactile but if you use it alone some good clickies (kailh box thicc clicks etc) would work, “scratchiness” is likely from just using a scratchy/cheap switch i.e. cherry (non retool) and some cheap cherry clones like outemu
Probably a red switch keyboard then. Brown is halfway between red and blue
gateron or hailh
why dont i do this?

and why is a custom keyboard my expensive
on the glorious website it's only $109
but if you wanna change the switch you have to make it "custom"
and then it's 117
why would i not do this
Any switches can be scratchy... it's not blue only
Brown switches don't have click mechanism ... those are tactile
@onyx schooner what would you be looking for in switches
soo.. tactile?
Your not getting tactically with gat reds or blacks 🤡
He doesn’t mention lubing so safe to assume he’s not looking to open up every switch
i just assumed he was going to lube because unlubed switches are awful
But hey what do I know
i had a full size before i got a custom and it was not good
i literally do not know what that is
customs?
Ofc
my custom is literally just suuuuper minimal
black wireless case with blank black keycaps
I’m coping a scarlet, frog, and mr suit if I get the chance
A lot of others I’m considering
Thankfully my job allows me to spend irresponsibly while paying bills
lucky
Not quite
im in hs without a job
I’m trying to save for a car
what car are u thinking, just anything that works?
maaan i dont even have my learners license yet
just very lazy, had every chance to get it
I've used both tkl and full but if they're the same price why not full
