lol, TKL first, then 100%, then 60%
Only 2 switch types available tho
They were struggling to sell the old optical analog boards until it blew up in the fortnite scene
Does someone know any budget keycaps similar to red samurai's or deep forest keycaps?
Preferably similar to deep forests cuz smt like thag would fit my keyboard much better
If anyone has any suggestions tag me
I just modded my keyboard a bit more and holy fuck does it sound good
Gateron Optical Yellow (Switches and strings lubed) + tape mod + a bunch of cotton balls under the pcb
GK61/SK61 from Epomaker
Wow... that's basically therapeutic! Complete keyboard noob (still have a membrane keyboard) but even to my untrained ear that sounds amazing!
Thank you, I am a noob myself this is my first mechanical keyboard. It was a learning curve to test out what sounded best but the end result is very satisfying to type on.
Do you plan on getting involved in the keyboard modding community?
I don't have the money rn, and there are other things I need first like a good chair
but I do find it interesting so definitely something for the future
Ok so idk if this counts as part of keyboard but is it ok to customize your mouse plate?
I wanna make a custom painted one but I wanna know if it's safe
The bottom of the mouse?
No the plating for the top of one for a Bluetooth mouse
Check out this dude guide on it
Ty
logitech mx keys mini, apple keyboard with touch ID or keychron k2?
Keychron
Look really good tbf
Anyone know of a keycap set that goes with the northern lights deskpad? I preferably dont want shine through legends
I will keep those in mind but if there is any that have some more of that like Caribbean green color i like that
Kraken Keycaps are an AMAZING way to take your setup to the NEXT LEVEL! Get keycap sets with colors to match your set up, favorite teams, favorite colors, or just go wild with random colors that LOOK GOOD! In the end, it doesn't really matter why you choose a certain color combo, just as long you as like them, that's a
Pretty cheap too
35$ usd
thanks, these look neat, depending on profile and price might mix and match both sets tbh
Damn these look sick for a halloween themed keyboard
They kinda remind me of my shoes I got a while ago
That's the latest set I got
Can you show pics
That’s some neon genesis evangelion vibes.
The strange thing is some times their measurements are less then the shorts. And that’s with the overhead of button, case, screen, and game. But I don’t know how many times they test. Like shorts people test many times and have a range. With the averages time. It would be interesting to see them test both at the same time. I think the shorts people are testing in us now.
good point
thats because they've just updated their methodology
used to be raw data, perhaps they've gotten rid of some variables such as monitor input lag to calculate it now
like the latency for the Superlight used to be 9.5ms wireless
its now 3.5ms
there are still mice they have which they haven't done the new measurements on yet
like the ASUS ROG Keris
does it have a software?
answer.
now.
Custom build gat yellow id87 light I think
Did you lube the space bar
Keep in mind first build
I tried to Baind-aid mod it didn’t work the one where you put tape under the stabs and I lubed all the switches + stabs
Do you want to see something
😂
Rattle
Ah i lubed my switches and the spring too. Applied a tape mod on the back of the pcb and on the top of the keyboard so the keys don't rattle (where you push in the keyswaps. I also added some cotton under the pcb
It's in the box right now
No problem
Is there a way to lube my stabilizers without desoldering
My stabilizers aren't visible like in normal boards
If they aren't visible then probably no
Ah that sucks man my space bar makes such a loud noise
Someone with no experience in soldering could do it without breaking something you think?
Yes, just need to get a better soldering iron than one from the dollar store and watch some video ... and use flux for best result
bruh what its not even hard
i went from dell office keyboard to planck
i know tons of people that never modded a prebuilt
Well good for you
almost nothing can make me like steelseries again after experiencing their customer service for 2 times. The fact that i even needed support 2 times.
cheap indian companies do like doing that stuff
added to the list
gonna look that up
But like bruh fox racing is a company that makes bike parts and accessories how the hell did they come up with stealing thier logo and putting it on keyboards 🤔🤔😐😐
can anyone recommend me a hotswap keyboard for 70-170$ budget
I am particularly interested in a 100%
but I am willing to drop lower for potential performance
Its over budget if you get 100% (195) but the keychron Q series is good https://www.keychron.com/products/keychron-q6-qmk-custom-mechanical-keyboard
Keychron Q6 is a fully customized full-size layout mechanical keyboard packed with all premium features and endless possibilities. Q6 is an all-metal keyboard that allows customizable capabilities for every key switch, keycap, knob, and stabilizer. It’s made for your personalized experience and a more comfortable typing experience.
if you want to go cheaper the keychron V1 (75%) is pretty good
or if you are set on 100% keychron K10
its worse than the keychron but still good, at around 90$ the rk96 is 96% and pretty solid https://rkgamingstore.com/products/rk96-96-layout-mechanical-gaming-keyboard
RK ROYAL KLUDGE RK96 90% Triple Mode BT5.0/2.4G/USB-C Hot-Swappable Mechanical Keyboard with Number Pad & Magnetic Hand Rest. This wireless mechanical keyboard is armed with 2 built-in USB pass-through ports and 1 Type-C Port, allowing to back up more facilities, like a mouse or a headphone.
Anybody got a good macro pad recommendation? I just need something simple for mic mute, switch audio outputs, and maybe a couple more things
thank you
erm does the rk96 have a black variant
and is there any loss to using wireless over wired in keyboards?
there is, you have to click the drop down that says white currently
If you are using 2.4 its basically no difference but if you use bluetooth then i wouldn’t recommend playing competitve or fast paced games on bt
Also, brown switch means tactile so there is a little bump when the key actuates, red means linear so its a smooth consistent motion down the whole keypress, and blue means clicky which makes an audible click sound as well as having a strong bump like a tactile
what switches do you recommend?
It's really personal preference
what switches do you personally recommend
I mean between the three options the rk96 has but thanks for the input
red/brown/blue
blue = really annoying clicking sound imo
i have them now
red and brown are pretty good
I'd go for browns
Yeah blues are cancer if you're gaming and someone is sleeping in the same room
CLACK CLACK CLACK CLICK
This is my lubed gateron yellow switches
They are more close to the browns than the red I believe. Correct me if I'm wrong
i think so as well
How can the yellow be closer to brown than red ...
either those are some real bad linears, or some real bad tactiles lol
I know ... but that doesn't tell me how yellow and brown are alike
Still ... it's weird thing to say
starting to think i should use miryoku in qwerty mode first before jumping straight into colemak-dh miryoku
i never use my qmk board lately because i always wanna type fast
uhhh yes
They are closer to reds no contest, yellows are linears, reds are linears,
That’s an interesting point. I haven’t seen any data comparing windows VS raw. Like is it same, slower, or faster.
By raw I mean clicking the switch with the finger cover on by means of a solenoid, using a mic to pick up the sound of the click, timing when the sound of the click is registered
I think it’s a little more complex than that though
well what are you doing with the board? Just gaming or are you also typing a lot or doing work etc
Most testing is done on Windows
Just gaming you cant really go wrong with reds but i would recommend lubing them honestly
i have the tactiles, they arent too strong but not so light you cant feel it
personally i like the browns on the rk board for the price
(I have the rk84
Keychron K10 has the Allu frame with browns in stock tho if you tryna spend the extra like 10-20 bucks
From what I’ve just read @past vortex RTINGS used to measure how long it took for a signal to be registered by the PC, now they just test for when the mouse itself sends out a signal
Because the former methodology meant you’d have to factor in stuff like monitor input lag
They now use a USB sampling device for their latency measuring
Over a camera
if youre going wired get the k10 but i think its only BT so if you tryna go wireless go rk96
IMHO
everything really
wired is fine thank you
Have you tried tactile?
I do not know what that is
alright
if you’re doing some typing on it i personally think the browns are a pretty good all rounder so I recommend them
Is speed a focus or accuracy?
ie are you a discord mod sending out important announcements or a casual chatter
y’know thats a really good question for switch preference i somehow never thought about that
honestly I am not sure
Well are you a discord mod of any sort
though tactiles wont significantly lower typing speed
Or a staff member of a server
Nah, but linears are pure speed
do you need to write essays or reports for school or work on it?
well yes sure
Depends on your experience with switches
but I can press backspace like two times
and undo any mistakes
I don't really care about that
If you’ve been typing for quite a while I’d opt for linears, middle ground are Tactiles
I do gaming as well
What genre
Well that tells me a tactile and hotswap board will do the trick
right
personally, i feel like if you arent lubing them id go for tactiles at this price range/switch class
Since a pro player would probably settle for a dedicated gaming board and typing
a pro player would use whatever their sponsor gives them
yup
That depends
I know quite a few COD pros prefer custom gear and actually don’t use gaming headsets
Mostly open back stuff
keyboards tend to be customs made by fans too
Also tournament scene vs practicing at home
i think ill try to go for the keychron k10
with either brown or red switches
i may get an energizer or something first though ngl
Beanz will fill me with beans for this, but Keychron is great for typing but high latency for gaming
ill just use it wired
Although, you can overclock polling rate in QMK or something to improve that
High either way, but if you’re not pro nor trying to be one it’ll be ok
not like 20+ms
Just over 10ms
You need to have really weak finger for that to make a difference tho
No it doesn't
Doesn't matter what you do with the keyboard ... switches are preference and that's it
I gamed on buckling springs for years
Never had any problem with that
Also we're talking about mx anyway here
Cause it was the topic ... red vs brown it doesn't matter at all
Buckling springs
thanks
Lots of people here really like topre
are there hotswap buckling spring switches
Never tried topre tho ... I wish I had money for that
is that even possible
No it's not ... the switch is part of the keyboard structure
Lately I really like the red jacket ...
And before that akko lavender purple
whats a good white keyboard
Can someone help me with my keyboard I cant use certain keys for some reason ita not my key bord its something to do with my PC and I dont really know what to do my keyboard is a brand new key bord from razer
what keys are you trying to use, and what operating system are you on
if its scroll lock, pause, insert, delete on the homepad - those aren't designed to work with macOS
print screen doesn't work on Apple computers as well
look at this glorius testing https://www.bilibili.com/video/BV1RK4y1s7zk It's so over engienred. the whole bed raises and lowers, and they move the hole keyboard to test keys.
looks good
im gonna show my keyboard and how it sounds let me know your opnion
https://www.bilibili.com/video/BV12C4y1H7fH?spm_id_from=333.999.0.0
their mouse tester in inaction 👀
do you have a link to their new testing?
I can link you the methodologies page; with regards to knowing their testing system from before, it's only oral information now since that article is long gone
stereotypical membrane
what?
thats a membrane keyboard
oh yea
https://www.rtings.com/mouse/tests/changelogs/0-8-1
This is the old methodology they used.
i got it when i first got my pc
https://www.rtings.com/mouse/tests/changelogs/1-1
This is their current testing for latency
Any budget mouses with tonnes of programmable keys?
thanx ... it's my diagnostic keyboard so I won't be using it much unless I have to ghetto rig something
it does feel way better than when it had the outemu blue
ah I see, yea im sure its much better
yes totally ... but still not as good as the stock 3068b
yea but thats a totally different price bracket and if you already had it laying around might aswell make it nicer to use
k552 was one of my first mechanical keyboard
hu, seems like it's behind a pay wall, so no clue what their new test method is.
nani
you get three free reviews
and, how I manage to get an infinite amount? Apple iOS/macOS glitch
once you're out of the freebies, double press home button or close safari on macOS
I don't know, like I click on them,a nd they're all blurred out.
on iOS, go back to the last free mouse review, refresh
on macOS, refresh once you're back on that mouse tab
which one?
the links to the reviews?
all the ones on the page you linked to
it's all 'Get Insider Access for pictures & test results'
I'll send a ss rq
ignore the second latency point, idk the latency before this update
second image is the current update
first, the previous one where the GPX's latency was 9.5ms wireless
rn its latency is measured as 3.5ms over USB receiver wireless (second method)
everything I see is high speed camera. 🤷
could be both high speed camera and the USB capture
video filmed by high speed camera
but the actual data given by the usb device
This was their previous methodology. You can see this critic wasn't too happy with it for the same reason I thought it flawed.
written October 18, 2021
the current methodology was implemented May 30, 2022
and the SRAV graph for sensor accuracy deviations was added very recently, 5 days ago on Aug 01, 2022
Done before you asked
tangled cables @past vortex
been like this for 1 1/2 years now
I hope linus hunts you down, and pimps your house with intel. 😉
He already made a statement about how difficult it'd be to hand over LTT to family members as CEO if he dies, probably won't risk his life for it
I have a steel table that can make quite the impact and resulting imprint on his forehead
though it'd be a regretful death, since I watch daily his channel's videos
also, he wouldn't kill a child if he has one too, would he?
I'm adolescent
like if they're mesuring the diffrence between, 2 to 3. that seerms promising. But if that's what they're doing, they don't make it clear that's what their doing, and there no specs of the device. Like if it's usb 3.0, 8000 hz, running at us, extra.
what affects a keyboards response time? is it the switches? if yes then whats the best possible choice? i hsve a keychron c1 and i been interested in replacing the gat browns it has
Polling rate can play a factor too
switches don’t affect a keyboards response time unless for some reason the conductive pads or hotswap sockets are failing
at worst, they’ll worsen your reflexes because switches are preference
but yeah, main factors are usb polling rate, firmware and hardware on the pcb itself
scuffed sound test plus u can hear me deafening pressed the keybind on accident
and dw the dog wont judge u
Hi!!!
Need some recommendations, want a TKL low profile ISO keyboard. For Gaming and productivity, I really dont care if it is wired o wireless.
check if keychron have something that fits your needs ... I'm pretty sure they do
stuck between logitech mx keys mini and the mechanical mini
well some switches activate at the top of the strokes, bottom of the stroke, or some where in between. More travel time, the longer it takes to activate. D bounce can cause latency as well.
So, in the heat of battle, you can easily not bottom out switches?
you only have to bottom switches if you want to. 🤷 Ether way you have less latency.
Not significantly tho
Or just get wooting switches and set the actuation wherever and have it reset wherever
that new wooting board is so enticing. I cant justify another KB tho
Just sell your current kb
the second I pick one to sell, Ill immediately regret it, I know it
Does anyone know where i can get the akko 75B plus. In silver and black with white or sliver lubed switches? I dont know much about keyboards but it seems to be out of stock everywhere. Also if there is another similar keyboard then i will def check it out. My budget is around $100 USD
You checked their website and also amazon ?
And also epomaker website ?
Check their mod line in DIY section ... might be something there for you
No ISO layout for the K1 in Spanish or us english
should i get the rk68 or the keychron k2
Are you planning to use it wireless and are you planning on using rgb or just a solid color or no backlight
Is anyone using the keychron k2 v2 ?
wired and rgb
so ima guess
the rk8
well depends on whether the extra cost of the k2 matters to you at all
rk68 has better wireless support and is a great budget board with better rgb software but the k2 is a better board overall esp if wired
rk is still a great board so if the extra 20-30 that the k2 costs matters to you id go for the rk
costs matter so rk it is
plus you can spend the extra money on lube, better switches, keycaps, stabs etc etc
im typing on an rk84 as we speak and i love it :)
im on windows 11 and the keys are v esc x z c r t f g and control
How’d you type them rn
has anyone got the kechron k2 v2
why do you ask?
well its a good keyboard for the price
i have the rk84 which is a bit cheaper and usually the go to budget 75% pick for me
though the k2 is also very good so you should look at sound tests to find which you prefer, the switches wont be drastically different as both use similar switches
wired or wireless? RGB or no RGB?
also up to looks of the keycaps if you arent swapping them out
personally though id say the rk84 is better but they are somewhat similar in “performance”
eh, it's just that RK's QC is crap
I'd rather spend up a bit to get something like an Akko PC75B/5075B
Not really…
Plus pc75b is pretty loud stock
rk84 is basically the best budget board full stop
akko keyboards are amazing and their designs/art is really dope
thanks, so if i ever want to get a lower response time, i have to buy a keyboard that has it
if it’s advertised to have a higher than average polling rate, it probably does
then again anything higher than 1000hz in a keeb is not worth it
Optical switches usually have faster response times
^
but replacing a kb with mech switches to optical isnt possible right?
Nope
Cause how they registered a keypress are different
white backlight and maybe brown or red swicthes
I tested my keyboard responsiveness on a website while simultaneously trying to hit a key as fast as I can I get 64ms on average and some close to 12ms
It's an optical keyboard
for anyone with any logi bolt comptatible devices - do you use the logi bolt ot bluetooth to connect to your device and why ?
I am looking for a white mechanical keyboard for a build. Do you guys have any recommendations?
budget?
@urban panther : Quality 🙂 I'll pay for it.
aight, thousand dollar keyboard rec time
its time to buy a model F
any recommendations on nice gaming keyboards?
That’s the amount of debounce time registered by the computer
I’ve used those websites before, always pretty high; most accurate measurement = tap the key as quickly as you can
I assume you casually pressed a key once, then tapped it
Any razer or corsair with optical switches
I personally prefer light, linear opticals for FPS gaming
Wooting HE series beats that a long way
Glorious GMMK 2 is also a good choice @granite thicket
thats gonna be better then any razer/logitech out there?
Yes
By a long way
@swift forge What would you say are the main differences between the two?
I have a razer blackwidow chroma v2 and i feel like its pretty ok but was curious if there was anything better
Razer used to be really robust, heavy keyboard and their old cherry switches were not that scratchy ... but now I don't know... I think they decided to just cut corner everywhere and give up on build quality
Something like the gmmk will just feel way better and it's not even considered that good nowadays
One thing I can say about my blackwiddow stealth 2013 ... it was feeling/build quality was way better than the Anne pro 2
so what would you say would be a good upgrade from the blackwidow chroma v2?
In the low cost side royal kludge
Kemove
If you want a bit more premium keychron and akko
Better than that it's probably group buy stuff territory and such which I don't know much about cause I'm not rich
so something like this? https://www.keychron.com/products/keychron-k5-ultra-slim-wireless-mechanical-keyboard
Keychron K5 is an ultra-slim wireless mechanical keyboard. With Gateron low profile red, blue, brown switch. Wireless and type-c wired mode. Mac layout, compatible with Mac, Windows. Aluminum frame. 18 types of RGB backlight included white LED.
Yes ... but personally I would not go with low profile but that is up to you
If you want more premium it's the Q series from keychron and the mod and acr series from akko
In theory could I just cut a full keyboard and just take the numpad out?
you're better be buying a separate numpad ...
You’ll want to use that wired for gaming
Personally I feel if it’s only for gaming you’re better off with a Glorious GMMK 2 or Wooting 60HE
They come feature packed for the purpose, Wooting having adjustable pre travel, the ability to map multiple functions to one key, tachyon mode enabling very low input latency, online website for customising software (instead of a bloatware app)
The HE are also Hall effect optical switches
If you decide to type normally on the 60HE, optimum tech says it beats his custom in terms of acoustics
does any other company sell buckling springs other than unicomp?
ahh qwerty is slightly weird after even just a bit of use with another layout
Hall effect and optical are different switch types
You mean Hall effect analog switches
Mb yes
But do Hall effect digital switches exist?
or are those just normal Hall effect switches
Hall effect is always analog. I suppose there is a way to implement the sensor in such a way that it’s got a small enough sensing range to effectively behave like a “digital” switch
You can also get analog out of optical
Just not as accurate, I’ve heard
Like the unstable implementation on the Razer Huntsman V2 Analog and Huntsman Mini Analog
I’m not familiar with the huntsman other than it’s measuring light intensity and converting that to analog
Reviews say it’s not worth more than a try
Since optical is a lot less accurate than HE
But wooting’s old analog switches were optical too and pretty good
Their switch was a lot more complicated however
Well always gotta be a reason why they switched to Hall effect
^
The Wooting One was a hotswap board compatible with other optical switches tho
Perhaps the complexity was why they switched
The stems had a couple refractors on them that redirected the laser to different parts of the sensor, and they were able to map the different areas to different analog levels
I mean their HE is hot-swappable too
But only with Gateron X Lekker switches
The old one was also only hot swappable with their own switches
Well at least they had two variants of optical
Clicky and linear
Now you only get a teal stem linear
They had manufacturer issues with the flaretech switches and later batches were kinda rough
they could jam a click leaf in if they want
clickiez proved that its possible in the mx footprint
otherwise they could ask kailh to make a click bar version
Well it does have a very different top housing
It’s also not the first Mx compatible alps switch
Well they stopped with the Wooting Ones production
All this is likely just a pipe dream now
Yeah it didn’t sell well
Until after they were sitting on dead stock for a year and it blew up in fork knife
I would’ve bought it tbh
I wonder with the dead stock, if the employees just customised it with some manufacturing gear and made the remaining TKL boards into Hall effect switch compatible ones
for their own usage
Well that’s why it’s only for the employees
Just revamped the inside of the remaining Wooting ones
possibly they did that, I cannot confirm
Nor endorse the idea that they never tried this
I’m 99% sure they didn’t
The tooling costs wouldn’t have made sense to make like 5 PCBs
The whole development of the Lekker switches is pretty well documented in their discord
They went full size first with the Lekker because the wooting 2 optical, a full size, sold a lot better than the wooting 1, which was a TKL
The original manufacturer for the Lekker switch actually pulled out which is where gateron comes in
Which is interesting because gateron also makes the other Hall effect switch, omnipoint, for Steelseries
It’s Hall effect??
as in Omnipoint
Yes
💀
However their sensing isn’t as precise and their software sucks
Welp I mean, the only thing you can really do with Omnipoint is adjustable pretravel
and it’s a mechanical switch as well
so you have debounce
No it’s just Hall effect
There’s no debounce because there’s no contact leafs
If Steelseries were actually good they could implement a lot of wooting’s software features into their board but nah
Steelseries marketing for HE switches - longer lifespan than mech, adjustable pre-travel, lower key press latency
Wooting - four commands to one switch, adjustable pre-travel, instant reset, tachyon mode
I think they did it that way to make it easily understood for normies
I mean the four commands to one switch thing kinda already screams low press latency in its own
Like how else would you be able to rapidly activate four commands on a single key
Press it at different angles? She trippi-
I think their strategy was to expensively price the Apex Pro to earn enough to implement the other features Wooting did
With some residue to fund new projects
Or build confidence by seeing the size of the customer audience for Omnipoint switches and start a poll on Reddit or somewhere to ask whether Wootings features could be implemented
But they made the price too high initially and it was seen as a luxury
Good theory, except all they’ve done for the omnipoint 2.0 is slightly more accurate sensing and 2 actions per key press. Even razer copied the 2 actions per key press a lot sooner.
Plus the practicality was seen as “not really” by most users
Yessiree
Wooting - Lets max out the Hall effect
the one thing Steelseries did wrong with the Apex Pro in my opinion was to give it a 100% format
In which case you could just normally map macro keys with 20 extras as options
there is a TKL
but the Wooting 60HE is endgame, as the compact layout is essentially virtually doubled with the mod tap and 4 per key function mapping
If every key were set to 4 functions, you’d have 240 total or more (haven’t bothered to count the exact No of keys on a 60%)
steelseries also recently launched a 60%
With Omnipoint?
yes
But that’s wireless and even more expensive
its not competitive from a features standpoint
Wireless could be a pro
But the 60HE is a universal gasket, so you could mount any 60% board on top of it and put the Lekkers in that
but your average consumer is more likely to recognise steelseries than it is to recognise wooting
Wooting is defying that rn
i hope so
With my statement I was referring to initial strategy, btw
Pretty sure it was 100% first then TKL version release
no the full size and tkl released at the same time
Welp either way not effective in terms of HE implementation
Wooting bested Steelseries here mainly because of the mod tap functionality (Apex Pro Mini vs 60HE)
tap a key for one function, press and hold for another
This is especially useful in a compact board as secondary functions tend to require FN + (insert key) to activate on many other boards like the Razer Huntsman Mini, Logitech Pro X TKL and the Apex Pro Mini itself
And no one wants to need to press two keys for one function if there’s a board which can do it with only one key just pressed differently but not enigmatically
mod tap has been around in QMK for several years at this point
it is nice to see them bring more stuff from the hobbyist side of things
Relating to your point, is Steelseries GG more widely known or QMK?
lol
No mod tap in steelseries software = L
GG is pretty new and quite a lot worse than just the old steelseries engine
And for the record, Glorious Core is the software for mice
Bajeal K300 / K100, its hot swappable, just buy your own switches its from aliexpress/banggood, i made min into a $400 keyboard
guys what do you recommend for a first DIY keyboard ? (Full size if possible)
also i forgot I am in Japan so I need a JIS keyboard ...
@swift forgegermany. pretty dang cheap like 60 euros. keybaord linear rgb (with software) dosent need to be hotswappable. im also looking for a decent like 20 euro or 10 mousepad. desk size and maybe a decent mouse like 30 euros but bluetooth
https://www.amazon.in/Mechanical-Keyboard-Certified-Anti-Ghosting-Functionality/dp/B08HVMHYHY/ref=sr_1_1?crid=S6CDO4IUHDN&keywords=hermes+e3+optical&qid=1660073875&s=electronics&sprefix=hermes+e3+optical%2Celectronics%2C182&sr=1-1 Does this keyboard really support analog like input like the more premium optical keyboards or is it just a marketing scam type thingy?
If you want good quality analog buy the Wooting 60HE
I don’t think mechanical switches can ever do analog as accurately
i actually tried doing that
but its unvailable in my country
im just looking for a little bit of that functionality for GTA online driving
i am aware it is quite hard to control and is a bit of a gimmick
hey I wanna switch from a membrane keyboard is keychron K8 a good choice to switch to as my first mechanical keyboard?
Sure is, if you want to go down the enthusiast rabbit hole and have a bit more cash you could opt for a ducky one 3, around 8 different switch options
Then you can use hotswap to your advantage and experiment with other switches from other brands other than Cherry MX which is stock
like contact switches?
or you mean optical switches
I just acquired an old dell keyboard and it actually sounds pretty nice other than the spacebar which sounds like it probably has some bad stabilizers or smth =
Oh yeah and I'm just gonna hope none of it's glued or soldered because yeah I might take it apart for a tape mod
If/when I get proper tools ofc
Use some grease for the stabilizer
A toothpick and a bit of grease on it if it's hard to reach should do the trick
a tap mode makes the sound deeper
Yeah actually do you want me to send a sound demo
sure
I wanna share how crappy the spacebar is to everything else
let's do it
jesus why is the space bar so big?
Nicee
oof
Still sounds pretty good I mean I'm new to the whole "liking the way keyboards sound" thing

some people take it to the extreme
I just hate a keyboard that's loud asf
I mean... what else is there to say.

Yeah I like the quieter, softer sounding keyboards as well.
hi, im thinking of buying a corsair MM300 extended mouse mat, just wanted to know if its worth
What DPI do you play at?
for shooting games, i play at either 250 or 500
25- 💀
yes
do you prefer control, speed or a little bit of both
do you need an entire deskmat?
or just enough to move your mouse across the entire surface
whats the budget, btw
yea
budget is below 40 usd
im poor
😭

Enjoy a good mousepad for the price
how about the mm300 tho?
what mouse do you own?
this is a control pad, but rated for a "fast glide"
so you might need to use more finger strength to start/stop mouse movement
Is it heavy in your opinion?
its alright
what type of surface would you rate your current mousepad?
bro i dont even have one 💀
or before it started making you drunk
oh-
im playing on a wood surface
ah
Could couple that pad with grip tape tbh
just adjust your sensitivity if you find the pad with a little too much friction
ok
might take a few days or so to get used to it
aight
yo, I happen to own a rk 61 and want to mod it
I've been looking at the tecsee carrot switches and I really like the way they sound
this is the part where you tell me if I am stupid and need to buy something else or not
Carrot are quite good and if you get them on sale then go for it
buy silent switches
put in keyboard
press on key
sound
what a scam
I believe you can change weight
Lightest weight is still >100g
if you get used to it it will be light enough
I have 90g mouse
and its great
some cheap neon m10
Once you purchase the Logitech GPX you can never go back
Also, it’ll start to be a pain in the ass if you happen to have something like a wrist injury
At that point only true statistics saves you
if I upgrade my mouse,I'll probably go with razer
Don’t
Their software is a pain in the ass
I'm on strict buget,as pays in my country are small
There are far better budget mice
I've bearly changed colour of my keyboard
so this is obviously the high end of the market, but the viper v2 pro feels like a cheap toy compared to the superlight
Unless you’re talking the Viper Mini
G-wolves has the Skoll Mini, or SKS
Same price
is G402 Hyperion any good?
And lighter than the Superlight
Not bad
doesnt g-wolves have a pretty spotty qc history?
although ♻️
No
Not anymore at least
The skoll mini blew me away tbh
I might get that one and later upgrade to G305 hero
You get a detachable cable (wired mouse though), tin box for storage, grip tape, spare feet
but this one is still working,so in few months
first search
razer really does have issues with software
nice
Last time I came into contact with razer synapse was a demo PC at a tech store
I came in contact 2mins ago
Tried to set up the Razer Blackwidow V3, to no avail
Kept bugging me with ads, privacy policy, ts and cs
they have some "win stuff"
you can use razer cortex on phone by installing apps, watching adds and doing some other stuff
to get silver and if you get 150,000 silver you get some mouse
Hello. I have a question about switches. I'm new to mechanical keyboards (I've been always using membrane) and I'm looking for a good type for me. I'm a writer, I write a lot: essays, RPG master games schematics, etc. I write some things in Visual Studio Code. I also play games, but not that much. I've heard to avoid Outemu switches and go with Gateron switches. Red are good for writing a lot or it's better to use blue switches? Or brown? What would you recommend in this case? I don't have a possibility to test them (unfortunately)
Gateron switches are really good when youre getting into keyboards, i had the same issue with you and i didnt know what do get, obv it will all come down to preference but since u game and type a lot id imagine that you would also be a linear lover
i would recommend gateron yellows
i have the yellows and the browns, the browns just have that tactility which im not a fan of but the switch isnt bad
but the stock gateron yellows will feel really really nice if ur new to mechanical keyboard
blues are honestly too obnoxious, theyre really common for newcomers because the click is kinda the staple of mechanical keyboards?? if u get what i mean
they will feel nice if youve never had a mechanical keyboard but after a while you would find it way too loud and obnoxious so its better to go for the linears
anyone experience with the mountain everest max keyboard?
on youtube its all positive
damn that keyboard
but when going and searching reviews from individuals they say customer service is bad and some just arrive dead
do you stream?
ehhh wouldnt really go for that keyboard if u want a nice one
its popular because of its macros and all that other buttons
really good if ur a streamer
but for its price tag wouldnt really go for it
unless you love the accessibility that it provides
there isnt much choice
i want a TKL that is hotswappable (prefferebly mx blue out of box) and from a decent brand not some aliexpress shit
if you got any suggestions im open to it
i really dont have much use for the macros tbh
Keychron q3
Maybe logitech?
Type or switches don't matter, it's preference
I like membrane quite a lot
mechanic is quite good but membarane I've gotten used to
Membrane or rubber dome
Thanks for the fast replies ❤️
Not bad for $6 at a goodwill. Nice upgrade over my stock HP keyboard
Don’t like their g pro keyboard design
And I think that’s only one with hot-swappable switches
Keychron seems a good option just not in stock where I live
razer maybe?good keyboard,sh!tty software
Razed has hotswap??
🤔
Razer ... shitty software, shitty keyboard
I don't like software,but keyboard is good
meh, i would rather buy a wooting two he for the same price

but its not 75 usd?
under
yea
the blackwidow v3 you linked is 230 usd
also, the one featured in that video is the ornata which is a hyper tactile rubber dome with a click leaf to make you feel good for buying a rubber dome keyboard with gamer rgb features
right,different currencies
lol
its in description
then whats the point of the blackwidow v3 then?
and if we talk about the ornata, i have given my opinion
its a rubber dome board trying to be a clicky alps while appeals to the edgy gamer with the lightning
the value you got from the board is fucking shit.
have fun with rubber dome deforming and ghosting on you later on its lifecycle
if we talked about the video itself, all the options featured ranging from "its brand name its good" to "barely acceptable"
Linus is not much a reference for keyboard tho ...
I would take a rosewill, redragon or royal kludge any day before razer, logitech or corsair keyboards
No the main brand keyboards ask to much for brand rather than product
Okay so what about a
ducky one 3 rgb tkl
Or Royal kludge rk87 2022
My keyboard currently has shit stabilizers and I chose the wrong switches and it’s all soldered shit and don’t feel like wasting time on it
the keyboard arena has changed significantly since this video was released
As per recommendations,I got logitech mouse (G402 Hyperion Fury)
Hey people, i have a logitech G710+ and the windows key stopped working for me? any tips?
Switch may have died, how old is it?
maybe 3 years, but the right windows key dosent work either, and i cant find any solutions for it online
unplug and plug back in?
lol thats the 1st thing i did
have you tried using their app to restart it?
no i dont have the app for it, maybe ill try that
nothing in the software
i found it, the keybpard has a gameing mode that disables it
Ducky one 3 is decent from what I heard
Royal kludge can have spotty quality
As long as its working and not super gross, its a great find for $25
it has a lot of dust but it works and sounds super good
i don't like how the space-bar sounds tho is there a cheap way i can change the sound?
maybe look for k70 mods on youtube?
i think ill put some foam in the case and fully restore it
Keychron Q3
ayo quick question can i tape and foam mod any mechanical keyboard or only hotswappable? cuz i wanna test how a cheap mechanical keyboard would sound modded
Tape and Foam should be fine with any keyboard. Just make sure your foam isn't conductive or it may short the PCB
so long as you can get to the underside of the PCB. Lots of cheaper boards like to hide screws under rubber feet that get destroyed if removed
A pair of tweezers should do the trick, but you still might need some glue
Ill just use some super glue i think it should be fine
Is the keyboard hotswap?
and if it’s full size, isn’t there another on the right/left side of the kb
Decent buy
which one o fthese are better? i dont quite know the difference

With CHERRY Advanced Wireless Technology, you can choose from three connection modes. When you are in the incredibly fast gaming mode, there is no limit to your
None of them
What’s your budget
Red is linear, typically lower actuation force but no click or bump just a direct bottom out ahead
Brown feels like linears with stones in them, moderate to low typing resistance
Clicky has an audible click and feels tactile, higher typing resistance than MX Browns or MX Reds if we’re talking Cherry MX
id like under $200 and i dont want wireless
What currency? Saw a German thanks somewhere in #build-a-pc, suppose you mean euros
Or do you mean USD?
For just gaming or more purposes?
Sorry if this is quite inquisitive, just going through the stuff that gives accurate suggestions
AUD
i wann abe able to type for school or work as well as game well, and because ive never had one before, id like RGB lol, never had anything RGB before
if it helps, i am currently using a Lenovo KBBH21 keyboard at/for work and used to use HP keyboard that came with hp pavilion 7975 PC

what brand of mouse do you use?
Glorious GMMK 2
if its available somewhere in aus
use a $5 mouse i bought years ago, it's decent
what's your budget?
anything that doesnt have this part bunched up?
for keyboard $200 AUD. for mouse, idk, $20AUD?
The GMMK 2 does... 96% layout
theres a 65% as well
$20 AUD... 💀
wait doe sthe 96 mean keys take up 96% of the board?
I was going to suggest the Wooting 60HE but i just found out its $275 NZD my side so not that much more affordable your side
96% size
so, bunched up numberpad, no home pad (the part above the arrow keys)

Pulsar Lunar Alloy TKL, or the Royal Kludge RK61
Those are some outdated vids
theyre somethin to go by
not anymore, they're trash quality in 2022 ngl
tehy always werer
what i mean is, theyre good to use and look at the newer ones o fthem based on the vid and review
Game for several hours on end and avoid hand strain, with the help of a gaming mouse—now available at Officeworks.
quality of his grammar = quality of those keyboards
save up and cop this if you can 🙏
^^
it's good?
very durable, great weight, great package all in all
and you get good software and pog performance with that one
G HUB is mildly irritating, but not like Razer Synapse where its a pain in the ass
that vs the one you recommended, which woul dbe better?
regardless of cost
for the package, the G-wolves would be slightly better in terms of hardware
because it comes with a tin collectable/storage box
grip tape, and extra mouse feet
like the Logitech Pro X Superlight does, but even higher quality
the cable is also detachable so its easy to use third-party ones
for the G-wolves Skoll Mini
its software-less though, iirc
and a honeycomb mouse, so if you prefer heavier and not holes in the mouse body, Logitech G203 👈
also the Skoll Mini, like its name is a mini mouse
so much smaller than the G203
not too fussed on weight, but if the gwolf one is better and had detachable cord, that might be more preferred. better long term
you US right?
lastly just curious, the cord here detachable for this keyboard?
Glorious GMMK Modular
Yes
GMMK 2 yes
GMMK, not so sure
for both a mouse and keeb... not much I can do
dont you guys have tech speciic stores where you can check out keyboards? like test the ones within a price range out that are on display?
like best buy?
Micro Centre
Best Buy
yep they do
i would probs say that's @sharp hatch 's best bet really?
Ok can you tell me if the one I have is good or not
It’s a Microsoft brand one
I can’t get specs for another while tho
hard to tell, isnt there a lot of microsoft keyboards?
My keyboard is; pulsar PCMK TKL with circular matt black keycaps and EVGA speed linear switches. Switches could do with replacing but the rest is perfect.
(sorry about dirty mousepad.)
Keychron K line or akko
thanks ill check it out
Outdated video
yeah but i mean to use that video to look at those brands and simlar newer editions fo the recommended ones and see if theyre good enough or better
That looks better than I thought it would imo
It looks amazing with the RGB on too. Sadly no RGB software ATM so I can't use custom configs, only my last-used RGB config or any presets. Still cool though. The RGB software is nice too! Not very buggy, only sometimes crashes or goes out of sync so when it does that, animated RGB will look stuttery, but no other bugs! They're usually simple fixes too like closing and opening back up the app or unplugging and re-plugging in the keyboard.
Also you can get the keyboard as a kit or I think if you go on their website you can get it pre-made with switches and everything. I got it off Amazon though so I had to get switches myself but I had the keycaps just lying around off a cheap, other mechanical keyboard.
Preassembled is the Pulsar Lunar Alloy TKL, barebones and BYO switches and keycaps is the PCMK
Ohh ok.
Still.
That keyboard reminds me of typewriter
It's not though
circular keycaps tend to do that
I only like them because they feel nice under my fingers.
anyone else like me where they love the feel of oem e-waste keyboards from the late 90s and early 2000s, like old dell and hp pack in keyboards
yep, same reason I chose a 15 year old hp over a logitech g5100
Oh ok
which I for some reason own 2 of despit me pretty much never using them
thoughts on HyperX Alloy Origins Core Gaming Mechanical Keyboard ? i want a tkl keyboard
aint bad for 70 usd
Lemme check
Yeah. It's customizable and everything.
really?
whats the difference
Yeah. Thankfully..
Or mabye it's not hotswap and amazon lied to me.
def not hotswappable
they uses through hole led which sits on top of the switch housing
Do you really not know the difference between clicky, tactile and linear switches? Man I spotted a non-keyboarder.
so unless they also do hotswap led socket, its prob soldered
That's pretty normal for switches though.
man thats why im asking not everyone is
You could literally take 2 seconds to look it up.
Infact it's literally in the name of the switch.
whats linear doe
It's in the name. It's linear all the way down as you press it.
Therefore it's the most quiet out of the three main ones.
Tactile has a click sorta like clicky but it doesn't make a noise.
Clicky has a clicky feel and it makes a click noise when you press it.
tactile has a event in its travel that increase the resistance that you need to overcome
ic, ive been using this redragon k552 for a couple years now and its pretty loud
clicky is tactile but comes with an audible sound to let you know that you have actuated
It's why tactile has a clicky feel though.
It's literally the same as clicky except it doesn't make any noise.
i modded blue tacktiles that much there quiet
Andrew Tate is a terrible person.
they all have an event where the resistant to make the switch actuated increased but then dropped after you overcome
i would say that event fits the definition of tactile
it gives a feedback to your fingers
me or andrew tate
any other suggestions than the hyperx one?
I just said Andrew Tate.
ok
The one I went with, pulsar PCMK TKL. Then again it doesn't come with switches or keycaps so youll have to buy your own and do more research.
The RGB software is really good too if you decide to use it.
i mean i would but im looking for a finished keyboard atm
Then just buy a Logitech keyboard at that point.
which tkl one
Pro X TKL is hotswap; but that’s just about where the pros end
I have one rn
Build quality is 💩
Onboard mapped commands only work with software open
Any of them depending on what additional stuff you want; such as a LED screen with volume wheel.
oh keychron v1 could be one
Pulsar Lunar Alloy TKL
That the finished version of the PCMK
It’s soldered switches, but you can mod it otherwise
will check them out, thanks for the suggestions
Well that's stupid. The original PCMK has hotswap.
That’s barebones though
You get no switches and no bitches
Unless you cash out for your own choice of switches and caps
??? Yeah but they could easily just use the same board between both of them!
Infact that would save them money!
I mean I guess.
It did save Pulsar the money
Using outemu switches
Yeah but they could have used the exact same board for both.
Wait can't you convert a non-hotswap board to hotswap using the things?
Nani
The little hotswap holder things.
Cuz technically that's the only difference between a non-hotswap and hotswap board is those.
Atleast physically.
confused screaming are you referring to the switch/keycap pullers?
No.
The things below the board that hold both prongs on the switches.
Where the soldering would go on a non-hotswap keyboard.
yes
using a thing called millmax socket
but those are a PITA to soldered onto the pads
Can always use outemu hotswap socket
I need a keyboard and mouse better than my Microsoft wireless keyboard and mouse 850
Budget is $50 usd
Is there one better?
rk61 and save for a logitech g305 or g205 (same mouse but wired)
Anyone know of custom keyboard cases that supports either a display or something along the lines of what stream deck is? Preferably a TKL sized one (mostly concerned about left to right width)
I’ve tried quite a few keyboards, though just prebuilt one, and the one I stuck with has always been Ducky One2 Mini… I have the Ducky One2 TKL too, but it just didn’t feel the same to type on regardless of the switches being the same… guessing it has a different sound profile because it’s a larger/different chassi
@rocky crescent Hi! I've bought keyboard with Gateron Brown switches and I find them very comfortable for fast writing stuffs. I was gaming too (mainly to test them), and they're much better than my old keyboard with a "chocolate design" (where my Right Shift was not working properly for some time). Keyboard works smoothly and nicely. I'm going to test other types of switches (if I have a chance), but I'm in love with brown! Thank you so much for your information ❤️
i wanna change the keycaps on my redragon k552, any suggestions
akko makes some decent keycaps
yes totally ...
I also found some nice ones on amazon and ebay
will they fit or are there specific sizes i should know about
it's specified on the selling page usually
Rk61 or keychron c1
Well Brown or Blue switches?
Personal preference
i don't game too much but i have a lot of typing work
Do you want tactile or clicky
Clicky ig
is this not 75%?
You never told me you wanted 75% but no niether of those are 75%
well still can live without arrow keys
well nice options dude unfortunately i reside in India 😂
thanks anyway
Keychron has an Indian website but I'm not sure on there pricing
And royal kludge might be on amazon?
ah yikes
look at something from HUO JI, they rebrand e yooso keyboards and are the only hot swappapble keyboards i could find in my budget which was also 6000 INR
the g413 has romer g so i suppose you dont want that anyways
this one fits your budget almost perfectly
