Yeah they're pretty cool, the LTT screwdriver has a slide out top with a bit rack, which does make switching bits pretty easy but you wouldn't be able to fit nearly as many bits as the current design choice allows

I think the current design holds 12 bits, a design like this would really only be feasible for a 4-6 bit carrier

it does get a lot better over time, for the first few weeks the pillow will be compressed from shipping and will smell quite a bit but totally worth it after 3-4 weeks or so since it puffs out and the smell gets a lot more faint

I have the swacket. Comfortable and warm enough. I wear it under a ski jacket shell in 30-ish°F weather. I’ve heard some people say that the chest material can start pilling but that hasn’t happened to me yet. Only had it a few months tho

An everything box that actually had everything seems kinda impractical realistically. The people who'd be into it are the keeners who already have a decent amount of merch, and everyone else would see the 1-2k price tag and nope right out of there. They also manage to (quite impressively) have a new release almost every week, so keeping the box updated with everything and updating the price alongside that would be impractical. Not to mention people have placed legitimate orders where they had a 10k shipping fee just since it surpassed the weight limit of what they're set up to ship, so a one of everything would likely also have that issue.

Trick is instead to just place regular orders and build up your own ultimate ltt box

French post is telling you, you must now pay import duties and taxes, not the sales tax, it's a longer explanation, but the "taxes" isn't VAT nor is it any other EU tax, fee, or duty. He's not paying the same taxes twice, because the taxes and other fees associated with importing an item bought online from a shop located outside the EU are the responsibility of the buyer and not the store. LTTStore can't collect this stuff on you behalf, because they don't have a European business entity. Or at least that was the case prior.

@slim knot couple of suggestions after watching the wan show. The screwdriver holster should have a tech theme. Like being able to hold a USB stick or batteries.

The backpack back mesh material should be a different colour. The grey does not look quality, even though I suspect it is. The luggage pass through has been done well by Peak Design Travel bag. And the Peak Design Everyday bag has material options I think you should consider. Adding extra straps to the sides for carrying at any angle is great. Has thought for hip belt with pockets been considered? I also find the peak design shoulder strap mechanism for adjusting the length of the strap really easy and would suggest looking into that.

For the LTT sweats. I got mine. But not happy that I can't zip with one hand. I have American eagle sweats with big zippers that also lock. It's easy to open one handed and access my phone from any position. Would have preferred the zipper style used on the wan hoodie v2.

i almost got the oakley kitchen sink back in the day for 250, but the measurements weren't quite right for what i wanted. i have a 5.11 rush 24, and some more expensive backpacking gear -- expensive bags are 100% worth the quality

I don't travel with a backpack a tone, so I tend to just go for ones around that $100 price point. Still get good quality materials and reinforced bottoms, also plenty of padding between internal and external. However they do tend to be more like thin compartments and not a tone of padding to protect your device from other objects in the backpack.

I bet if you travel a lot though those expensive bags are worth it.

I'm slightly concerned that the % of the audience comfortable spending 80ish on a screwdriver might be smaller than hoped, and it won't be quite the smash hit he's counting on. I don't doubt that it's worth the money, but theres been plenty of people who hear that price and are like "lol, it's impossible to design a screwdriver worth that much. Maybe it'll be 20?" since a lot of people don't actually seem in touch with what high end tools cost.

Yeah once you add shipping and any taxes many people will be near $100. I'm interested in it and would buy one at like $40-50 range, but I don't think I'll be buying one if it comes in at $80 subtotal.

I don't doubt the quality and work they put into it, but the value to me is low since I just don't need a fancy screwdriver very often. So I'd rather buy another game or two for example and just use a boring cheap screwdriver.

But if you use a screwdriver all the time, like say you work at a local PC shop I could see it being worth it. Maybe they can move a lot of units to pc repairs shops and similar. 🤔

I am not cool with this. I ruined 3 different mats this way. Also online most people seem to agree using soap on the rubber will turn it sticky, which is exactly what happened to the mats, the back turned sticky and fell off or started to leave a residue.

The firsts 2 i washed them with some jeans the last one of them alone only soap. The last one lasted 1 wash and then die on the second.

Can't speak for the LTT merch but previous desk mats of mine have washed nicely using Baby Bath in the sink with luke warm water, I can't recommend using dish soap on any rubber surface though I was always told it had a mild corrosive effect, certainly would explain the sticky not grippy feeling.

Well, my flannel didn’t survive a dog attack without damage but mostly protected my arm. I was hiking on Humbug mountain (Oregon coast) and a couple had a German Shepard that lunged at me and grabbed my arm.

Minor bruising but I assume it’d of punctured my skin. Mad that it wrecked my shirt and people hurried off as I got angry but hey, you can make the nerd reference that it provides resistance to mauling

Yep. Need to buy another flannel, it’s funny as it’s the first ltt apparel I bought as typical geek culture stuff isn’t me. The LTT flannel is on the lighter side (which is good for every day). That said it’s heavier than the workout style synthetic material long sleeve tees I’m prone to wear hiking (and things like running/biking etc) like Mountain Hardware or Nike. I’m glad I picked to wear the flannel yesterday as I’m positive that the looser fit and thicker fabric was a positive.

Linus has technically a separate company (for tax credit reasons) known as "creator warehouse" that does all the merch side of things. These days it seems like the process is loosely they source raw materials (such as linus buying a quarter million dollars worth of alpaca wool awhile back), and then they primarily enlist factories in china that have been vetted for quality and ethical practices to actually do the manufacturing, with the design part being done by the design folk on staff. Recently it seems the approach for clothing is to get a bunch of blanks shipped, and have the designs printed locally. Probably a similar process for their non-clothing merch, but of course it'll depend on the specific item.

It won't be as sturdy or robust as a straight shaft (for high-torque applications), but it is good enough around your desk. It's just a little beatdown by things like iFixit kits, or other cheaper kits still

Also iFixit really doesn't have a competing screwdriver? None of theirs are ratcheting for one, and I don't think they even have proper, full-size, high quality tools? I have a Pro Tech Toolkit and it's been great to carry with me and work on small devices like laptops, phones, tablets, etc., but it is no replacement for even a cheap full-size purpose-built driver. The iFixit kit is quite cheap sure but very different purpose and definitely not the best thing around. Heck, the LTT screwdriver is the same price as a pro tech toolkit, if I want a general, non-small-electronics-repair-kit screwdriver, the LTT one is the obvious option

Also the iFixit thing isn't bulletproof anyways, Linus has mentioned this previously and I have had this experience as well, the bits are kinda cheap and tend to bend 🤷‍♂️

I had no concept of how big typical towels are compare to the ltt ones, but it appears they're all rather big, or at least, rather long. Haven't dug too deep but the pricing actually seems almost cheap compared to some bath sheets I've seen for 40+
