I really wish I could say the same. I'm lucky if I am at 1/4th that level of usage, and it looks like a cheap knock off 😭
I had a bestbuy employee ask to see my bag cause he recognized it, and when he looked at it, even he commented on how severely the shape seems to have been lost. That made me notice it much more, and yeah...
Can you take a picture of the bottom of your bag? preferably laying it flat on the back of the bag
the bottom looks perfect honestly
Could you humor me regardless?
The bottom looks
It's just those HORRIBLE creases 😭
My guess is that repeatedly creasing in that manner has led to it being more pliable in that direction
Even completely empty, it leans so far forward it almost falls over. And it has literally nothing in it
I think I can 3D print a little structure at the bottom to at least help somewhat with the forward lean
I WOULD get the bag of holding, but its just so expensive for what it is. That little thing is half of what I paid for this whole bag 😅
actual physical wear and material wise, this bag is an absolute BEAST. I think it could outlive me. My issue is the frequent falling face down and sinking in makes me not want to continue using it, if that makes sense
You can see how bad the creases are on the inside from that angle as well
I am looking more at the design, and the issue I am having has nothing to do with the panel material. The structural weak spot is below the zipper. I just put a glass dish thats near the perfect size, inside, and now it stands up no problem. It also still opens just as easily and doesn't inhibit the flex of the dome
@undone copper
so if that bottom section was just a little more structured or reinforced (below the zipper where no bending is needed) this issue would be solved
I am probably gonna 3D print an insert that serves a similar function. Thats kinda why I came in here, to see if anybody had made something like that to solve this
You can see how it almost completely gets rid of the crease there, and also helps the bag sit up vertically now
It also allows it to open perfectly fine still
I'm gonna reload everything with this dish inside and see if it can stand up
it stands up perfectly now
you have basically no creases
See here. It makes a massive difference
I'm gonna design a 3D print to reinforce the bottom so it doesn't fall over so easily
granted, thats with nothing inside, so its the worst possible case, but even with a decent amount inside, it falls over always
ok. If I make a design that works properly, I will share it in here for anybody that needs it
Even with all your tea equipment woah
Im still waiting for my backpack to arrive 😅
They must have chosen walking as the delivery method
Soooo, it's 30th Jan. Truespec cable launch when?
During Wan show hopefully
Damn, so will be whilst I'm asleep. (UK)
Yeah sadly. Im uk as well. Sometimes the links are available at around 12am
I'm just hoping they're not too expensive
its also possible they'll release it earlier in the day (like 11am their time, but this time isnt based on much) or right before wan show
Isn’t it usually 6pm uk time for shadow drops?
Iirc thats when Black Friday/lime day deals start
if im doing my conversion correctly, thats 10am their time so would make sense
With quantities of each SKU in the first batch being “limited” they might prefer to launch later in the afternoon, closer to WAN - guess we’ll see
Or they just prioritise those who signed up for the drop notification email (as well as those who check Whenplane)
I just hope ill be awake for when it launches
Depending on price im planning to buy a few.
oh that reminds me i should set it to check for new products more today. normally it only checks every 3 hours
Is it a manual override when you know it’s a “big” Friday or other day of the week tabled for a launch
I foresee some eyeball popping prices akin to the screwdrivers when they first launched. Not inappropriately priced for what they are, but people anchored to dollar store prices (and qualities) might be yelling.
i just set an extra cron trigger that runs more often during a specific day
iirc linus said at some point that they will not be cheap
I think that was in one of the amd ultimate tech upgrades
Cheap, on spec, durable, one of these doesn’t fit the other two
What do you guys think they’ll be priced at?
Im guessing $24.99 for the cheapest one
which one
Floatplane precision driver
im ngl i saw the title and thought it was a full size driver
oh my god there is floatplane on the case too
i don’t see it
people talked about it in the floatplane channel when the video was released
fair, but its also merch so
fair 😄
CABLES ARE HERE
US
A -> C from $17
C -> C from $22
yeah looks like the collection isnt on the global store yet, but the cables themselves are
Actually about the price I thought.
and i just got the email
wait
those are cheap
actually
yeah i'd say so tbh
for what they are anyway
i think its broken
or idk, like every c to c is 29.99 cad for me
on the us store, most of the c to c cables are $26.99 except for the 480mbps ones that are <5m which are $21.99
Is it meant to say the wattage next to the speed?
its not in the metadata for the variants, but it probably should be in there I agree
Says in the description
are they all 240w then?
Id assume so if it says 40gbps
not all of them are 40gbps tho
Ltt may have made an oopsie with the clarity
looks like they added wattage to the title
woah some variants are already sold out on the us store
I don't think I currently need them, but if any applicable cable of mine show even a hint of being flaky these will be my go to for replacements I reckon.
I ordered 2 from the Global.. 3m A-C, and 2.5m C-C.. balance of speed and length..
How useful is a 10cm cable even, that's so tiny
To someone who wants cable management, very.
Like to an external HDD next to the comp, or otherwise connecting a device that doesn't need range..
I guess so
The cable from my monitor to my webcam is one I replaced with a much shorer one..
I mean I'm not paying $30 to do it, but if it was say your MacMini to a USB NVME Drive, then maybe you want a short high speed cable
On my old OG G4/Intel MacMini I had externals using Daisychain FW cables, each cable was not even 10cm, just long enough to go from one drive to another.. so clean.. apart from the 5 power bricks.. but that was another issue 😄
Yeah my desk has a number of cables, but most are for power bricks
FUCK
Had a truespec cable in my cart and my bank declined the transaction bc it's technically international and now that I've gotten it approved the longer length is out of stock
Damn they’re selling out quick
Yea
Legitimately before I got the page up, the 1m cable was gone
The 70cm is gone now too.
This is what you get for knowing they were gonna drop today and not staying up all day hitting refresh :p
Fr :/
They all are still in stock on the global store it seems
times like this make me really miss the days when we could see how much stock was left
I'm waiting on my friend to get back to me to see if he wants to split shipping
ANOOO
Don't wait
It'll be gone
Unless you're global
Uk
Then you're probably fine
Idk on the global store all lengths of both cables are still there
floatplane video out about the cables
it looks to be formatted like a normal ltt video (and its not marked as fp exclusive) so i assume it'll be out on youtube shortly
Lmao we've peaked. Paying for the chance to watch an ad for a product unironically.
XD
Well I was able to get a 1ft cable :/
Mostly useless for my glasses tho :/
Pick up a DeltaHub Carpio G2.0 gaming wrist rest in an exclusive LTT colorway at: https://go.deltahub.io/carpio-ltt-gaming-edition
GET YOUR CABLES!!!! https://www.lttstore.com/collections/ltt-truespec-cables
USB cables are needlessly complex, but they don’t have to be. Well, at least they don’t have to be for the END USER. So we tackled t...
LMAO I clicked the notification for it so fast it still said it was private XD
i think they double uploaded or something
Riley's song for the end is so peak
And the one at the start too
Well, 2m and 2.5 c-c are sold out on global, both went out of my cart when I went to checkout
So yep, all c-c cables are 240w capable
Welp there goes my pay
Also petition to rename this channel from lttstore-merch to lttstore-products
Yes, checkout chats now, not merch messages
Yes
I wish they did some USB C/A->B cables.. especially long ones, I'd love to replace the one to my monitor, as its streached to the limit lol
Give them another few years. That's the truespec equivalent of the transparent screwdriver
Same with HDMI/DP
Shiiiit I'm an hour late and they're mostly gone
They're gonna make the most popular cables unfortunately the B cables are not as popular!
Thinking of it from a business/manufacturing view
They weren’t lying when they said limited stock
Was not waiting for wan show to make a checkout chat, those cables are going FAST
i hjave a couple of 10cm cables because I have a ugreen 200w thing under my monitors with like 8 USB C ports on, I only need super short cables for it
do LTT just hate my wallet or what
or i should say do they love it
Lol
Now thats actually so cool
I have spent an UNGODLY amountof money in the last 6 weeks but.... fuck
Also cables selling out quick af
They love your wallet, hate your bills, and wish your paycheck was higher even more than you do
i already have a regular precision driver + kit
Lowkey wasn't expecting them to drop before wan show
OOF
Same here otherwise i would have resubbed to floatplane to buy it 💀
I don't think I can justify it
i'd rather buy an orange prismagic driver
i want that so bad
or do i do both
I really really shouldn't bc im possibly about to buy a house
but
they are pretty
Lmg's really not doing much to mend that relationship with iFixit with this product XD
prismagic and floatplane precision kit is 225CAD after shipping + tax to UK
wow those cables sold out fast
1m was gone by the time the site loaded
Deadass
yeah i think i'll wait for the restock
That was my first thought too
I got an out of stock notif on the purchase page so I went back and picked a new length. When I went back to purchase the new one also ran out in the 30s it took
Gonna be funny to see this on WAN launching the product with zero stock
Maybe they held some stock back to release during wan
Possibly.
how much you want to bet they stocked like, thousands of them and sold out in minutes
Tens of thousand per sku
Maybe they’ll share how much they stocked during wan
I'm surprised the lengths were all similar pricing
The 1m 40gbps 240w is likely the coolest
i think the pricing is GREAT
Finding the fast data and high wattage is hard
The main cost is likely the connector not the cable
I've paid more for a 3' 40gbps cable from anker (pre shipping)
did 10 of the cable options sell out? why are they unavailable?
yeah thats why i am going to wait for restock, i would prefer the length i want
Really hoping the lead times aren’t crazy on these lmao
Lol I had some pretty bad sticker shock at the price, cant imagine double. At least I only needed three
Yes they did
Gonna buy one just for the few games I play that I use a controller
holy buckets
i think most every sku sold out
penguin video: but why?
I think im gonna yolo order prismagic orange and floatplane precision
fuck it
might wait for wan show though, i've had like 6 orders in the past but never ever sent a merch message
They love our wallets but wont sell us one. So it goes.
Floatplane precision? What's that?
If i buy it i can keep it pristine bc i will just use my regular precision set at work lol
Pretty bad experience as a canadian shopper on lttstore.. You'd think being canadian, linus would have the site set up to work for by default.. Seems they only tested it for americans...
Step 1: Click cables link in "4 years to makes this" video
2. Okay i see the products, it says USD but thats fine ill pay in usd if I have to. No signs of region/currency selector on the screen anywhere, scroll down a while, still nothing. Fine, add to cart lets go.
3. Added, it's just regular shopify stuff, my info pre filled, good. But it says this particular product can't be shipped to canada. like what?
4. Very confused, go back and try the screw driver which im pretty sure canadians have ordered.. Same thing.
5. Tecchy approach: Change lttstore.com to lttstore.ca .. For a second it redirects to some other url, but its so fast it and cant see what it was, before it goes back to lttstore.com as if nothing happened. No change to currency or shipping restriction
6. Look harder in the usual spots .. top right is where most sites put it, like aliexpres which the channel has many videos on, and imo has the best experience for switching currency/region.. Not there but there's a login, so i figure i can enter my canadian address tehre and it would set me up right... Well floatplane login, very weird. and shopify (Which is a bit confusing ,because i have a "Shop" account, not a shopify one, shopify accounts would only be for merchants, but i click it anyways and it easily lets me log in put in the address.
- Canadian address saved in there and i click shop and it links me to:
- Great jorb.. Even harder trying to make me american or believe you only serve american customers.
- Now what??? By this point most users would have given up im sure. But eh im a computer engineer, surely there's a way!
- Scroll down further, paste many advertisements and junk.. Then finally there it is, super hidden bottom left region selectors. geez. its like they want non americans so to give up.
- Still broken: screenshot:

You need to go to global.lttstore.com
Thanks might have to snag a few
yea i figured it out and got hte order in .. Just posting feedback how awful the process was
even after reaching global.lttstore.com, it than pops up a warning im on teh wrong site.. literally the message that should be on the regular lttstore.com that would help avoi this lol
The region select is at the bottom of the page
The auto detection probably thinks you’re in the US for some reason
yea very bad placement
im fine being auto detected as an american. Just should be a less painful process to switch it
not that they have any reason to . My IP detects as canadian just fine everywhere the last cpl years
Icons at the top/in the hamburger menu might be nice
personally id be pretty offended at being called an american but
well having that warning message not be bugged and displaying on the wrong site would be the easiest fix. Hopefully that one doesnt take 4 years too lol
and yea the region seletor belong at the top, not burried under a bunch of slow-load adverts
when did LLT merch become Hotter than Pokémon Center exclusives?
Offended for being called amazing? That's weird. Some folks are shy I guess
(Please note I am making a joke. It's mandatory to make jokes these days as things are so wild, we all need to get laughs where we can)
the cables sold out (in the sizes I want) fast!
Yeah that’s a weird break in the detection. It prompts me to change region when I go to the non global store
personally i get why they block canadian customers from the usa site, but id rather just being able to buy from it. Avoid some taxes heh (if its under $200, cusma imports are cheaper than paying canadian taxes)
Anyone know if they're willing to combine pending orders to save having to ship twice if you contact them? I just put in an order for a tshirt yesterday, but I won't bother support if it's a waste of time.
Well different warehouses fulfill American vs global orders
Linus said on WAN they were doing a smaller initial launch of cables and would restock at some point.
Generally during these busy shipping periods they don’t tend to do it even if you ask from what I’ve heard and even normally they don’t either
Historically they have declined to merge shipping costs, especially during sales. The price apparently helps offset losses
yea no idea how they are detecting it. IP is the norm, but i dont they are using that. You can check someones browser region, but thats also unreliable especially for gamers, since anyone wise leave thats to default (US-English).. cuz otherwise it just causes bugs with the stupid french canadian keyboard layout (and nothing else relevant uses that setting anyways)
You might get em in one box, but I wouldnt hold breath on recovering shipping costs
No sale, just their dysfunctional product release cycle. But good to know, I won't waste making them read an email.
I haven’t heard of other companies combining shipping either
would be more effecient for him to get rid of his customer support staff and just use AI/canned responses.. But it exists, so worth a shot id say
Depends, some smaller companies do. I'm no expert, maybe it's not a feature of order management systems, but I would think a company like LTT (which as far as I'm aware still uses people to pick items and package orders) would benefit if their system aggregated parallel orders that haven't been picked yet into a single list. Still, not really a complaint, small company logistics are what they are, just wanted to poll the masses before clogging them with another email.
update: wallet sad
what is peoples perfect cable length? i typically get the longest cable i can and wrap the extra with a cable tie
i like 5 foot or 10 foot
but i got the 14.5 ones instead of 16 foot ones because they are still 21$ instead of 26$
I've had them merge shipping for me a couple years back. I had ordered the screwdriver, then took advantage of a black Friday deal. I contacted support, but said it in a way that to save them sending 2 packages. They refunded me on lot of shipping and bundled it all together. But I did have to place 2 separate orders
if the longest 40gbps cable was still in stock i'd have got one just because but longest was 40cm i think
not intereted in that short 😄
Had to sketch out a lil diagram to be 100% sure I got all the cables I need
Bunch of lengths back in stock (us)!!!
just got my order in for most of what I wanted
@night arch
@leaden carbon
doesn't appear to be the case on global 🙁
I'm happy with the 3 20cms I got, but thank you. Short is probably good for my ingest application anyway
Ah lol, was scrolled way up. I see your diagram now, perfect application.
I probably should've graabbed some short lengths too but ¯_(ツ)_/¯
I am curious what the bill of materials looks like for something like this. Is the above market cost mostly validation?
That's odd. I saw prices of 26usd
Didn't really have time to check if I was on the us site
US pricing has tariffs built-in, where applicable
Ah, thanks orange man
Still not a bad deal to get guaranteed max performance, at least wrt the cables themselves
Agreed. I set my expectations for pricing a bit higher than what they went with, so I came out pleasantly surprised :P
I was expecting $30-35
are we going to change the name of this chanel now that LTT no longer sells merch
...a valid point
huh?
what do you mean by that
Linus has in the past said they make more than "merch". It's not just a t shirt with an LTT logo on it, etc. They are fully fledged products that they sink a lot of RnD into and are ground up designed by the team usually
He seems to feel quite strongly about it lately lol
so much so, renaming merch messages because it's not merch
ngl, that feels a bit silly but I understand it being more than merch. But that was a harmless term
ah
yeah, I only have the screwdriver and shirts cool to see they make their own blank shirts instead of just printing a design on a basic gildan shirt
I cant unsee that monitor tilt 😭
Thats why you buy a bunch, of every length!
Hi
Also lets be honest, most people barely change their setups, even as they upgrade over the years, same general positions for everything.. there are exceptions, like me, who likes change, but for most it'll be fine
I did a desk upgrade more recently than my last PC/tech upgrade
I should really get a new monitor…
I hear Plouffe has one of those
does the 40gbps cables support pcie tunneling
they are USB and not thunderbolt so probably not
usb 4 does
news to me
If its part of the USB Spec then from the sounds of it, it should support it.. but best to ask, either via support or get their attention during wanshow..
But as they showed on the video, the USB spec is huge so I have no idea whats in it lol
it's an optional part of the usb spec
Is the floatplane screwdriver really supposed to ship separately
Was gonna splurge on cables, a prismagic driver and the floatplane precision kit.
Aaaaaaand everything I wanna get is sold out except the Floatplane precision driver...
I always hit this issue - and I end up buying nothing, because the shipping+import cost for EU shipping makes it too expensive to make multiple orders :/
first world problems.
I'm curious if floatplane precision would have shipped separately for you
In the US, it says it would ship separately no matter what I do
can't say - as the out of stock for all cables (2x3different ones) and purple and turqoise prismagic is out of stock.
that would've been another issue if that happened
(you could select a random product for test purposes)
Just not finishing the checkout
I'll check!
But either the precision isn't ready to ship yet from US warehouse, or it's shipping from canada
It doesn't tell me which
Otherwise I see no reason it would be a separate shipping item
The shipping isn't too bad if that's going all the way to Europe
There'll be import fees on top of all that too
Just makes it unfeasible for me to pay that kind of shipping+taxes+import fees
twice.
if I were to only get the floatplane precision
which is all they have in stock of what I wanted
I already missed most of the cables I wanted to I think I'm just getting floatplane driver since it ships as its own thing
Hopefully regular transparent continues to be stocked by the time more cable stock is available
well with sub $10 shipping I'd do it too
I don't have one. Have been holding out for the Purple one mainly all this time
And I realistically don't need cables at this time
and when I knew cables were coming soon tm, I held off a little more - to save a bit on shipping
now I get none of it xD
I am just that unlucky with these things,
but it's a first world problem at the end of the day.
Damn, that was a quick turnaround.
Ah man the floatplane precision kit looks dope. But I like my numbered precision driver from the pop up launch more, heheheheh
Yes, I know it probably won't get shipped for another couple days, but damn, CW is on it
I wish I lived in Canada for moments like this
My order just shipped too \o/
So what exactly is different about the Floatplane driver from the normal precision driver?
You've piqued my interest, but not enough to justify the purchase since I already have the precision driver and kit (which I have used a grand total of 0 1 time)
God dude, they sold out of all the good cables already
That was lightning fast it feels like.
looks like they did it in waves cause they sold out then came back in stock
when they launched earlier today they were all in stock then sold out then hours later were back in stock
from what i saw 2
ive been refreshing the page since launch
Texting can cost money etc.
You mean in BC
You say that till you see the prices
BC is very affordable, as long as you live where the people aren't 😐
Are the 20 Gbps and 40 Gbps USB-C to USB-C cables that LTT sells compatible with Thunderbolt 4 / USB 4 speeds?
I have a Thunderbolt 5 eGPU dock and another multi-port USB 4 / Thunderbolt 4 dock and would like to have extra cables on hand for them. Would LTT's cables work with them?
Think they've said they only promise the speeds and charging capacity but not gonna swear by that.
Linus did mention the USB4 spec in his video so I was wondering if it would be compatible, and also if it might be backwards compatible with Thunderbolt 3 too
directly from WAN
huh interesting, since C-C passive cables that report USB 3.0 speeds on PD 3.0+ should be able to handle Thunderbolt speeds on USB4 hosts. But may not be backwards compatible without the Intel alt mode on Thunderbolt hosts
Can they update the store page with actual specs 🥺
I assume the only specs they promise are the speed and power delivery..
Everything else is "should" or "mileage may vary" ..
Does DP alt mode capable mean "it will work" or "your mileage may vary" 🤔
I'm not an expert, so take this with a grain of salt, but my understanding is that as long as its a USB3 speed cable, and the ports support DP Alt mode, then the cable doesn't matter.. Its not something special that needs to be done to the cable itself..
So the 480mbps cables would be a nogo, but the 40/20gbps should..
My knowledge of what is based on the physical cable, what is based on the physical ports, and what is based on what is digitally being asked for/sent has never been super clear to me. "Optional" specs make everything crazy. I hope theres a timeline where we end up with USB 5 or something, which is just called "USB 5" and it does everything without any optional maybes, but I suppose that might be asking for too much.
Yeaaahhhh, its a hard problem. But we're currently in a mess where like 5 of the competing standards have the same name >.<
Linus talked about not getting the cables USB certified because it seems all it does is let them use their confusing branding in the cable video..
I wonder if the cables will be dust-magnets. Anytime I deal with silicone, they end up dusty and kind of annoying to clean
Life hack, buy LTT Cables, hang them around your house, never dust again..
I hope they restock fast, I was too slow to get a new C to A cable for my car
Also fuck you Sony for still using USB A on your head units
Linus said on WANShow, aiming for March.. they have the cable already which saves them from it being June..
I hope I don't throw this cable out the window in frustration before then
Just order a bunch of small cables and some A-A or C-C female adaptors to chain them together..
DP Alt mode means it works
I'm familiar with the USB PD spec. That's only true if the cable supports PD 3.0
otherwise it has to expose the DP and TBT alt modes if it's PD 2.0
** actually this is for Thunderbolt Alt mode / USB 4 data ^^
for DP, passive USB 3 cable works fine as well even if PD 2.0
just ordered very excited
my carplay cables have been failing after like a month for like forever no matter what cable i buy
so hopefully this doesn’t
What ass cables were you buying before???
Fuucckk I forgot to order pozidriv bits AGAIN
I would kill for a 40gbps/240w that has a built-in monitor
Guess I could just use a monitor+cable, still would rule out the cable but not sure if any monitor also meets spec
Wait, I just realised, when I ordered the cables last night, I wasn't prompted to add anything from the bonus bin? Has that finished now?
The bonus bin doesn't always have items in it
Close Enough? picture taken on a desk not on a floor
I always see Linus kinda talk shit about how USB has optional standards that no one follows...
But he didn't actually disclose if the new cables have all of those optional standards?
How can we check to see if these new cables include all the optional stuff
What kind of stuff are you wondering?
They purposely didn't pay for USB certification because its so vague, costs money and difficult to understand
sheesh i ordered exactly an hour after you and i still got nothing
(which is fine!!)
my last order was done about the same timeframe though as yours was
Bonus bin was discontinued (for now) because of tariffs.
All that stuff
Do these cables have all of those
this is the only extra info we have
This screenshot is from an ltt video where Linus is complaining about USB 4, so I would imagine they would add all that stuff to the cables
I get what you're saying but Linus isn't advertising these as a USB 4 cable
they are 40gbps, 240w cables. The extra stuff (dp alt mode, thunderbolt) is not certified, but Tynan states should work
I think like half his reason for not making these "USB 4" is because the standard is such a mess
also unless im mistaken that screenshot is about device capability, not cable
I mean I understand not wanting to pay for the certifications, that was what he was saying. You're basically just paying for a poorly named logo
I just want to make sure that outside of getting certified, it still has full capability
Surprised there's still no JIS bits offered to go with either screwdriver
But we get PZ? What? How does that make any sense
Those standards are things the device manufacturer decides if the device supports. So long as the cable used is capable of the rated speeds and power delivery specs, it's up to the devices to support things like DP Alt Mode.
We recently switched to Dell monitors that have USB-C docks with Ethernet built-in. We've already had people who've found a way to break the plugs off the ends so I acquired some affordable USB-C cables that don't list anything beyond speed and PD spec. They work just fine with our Thunderbolt capable laptops and older DP Alt Mode laptops. 🤷
Perhaps... Pozidriv is more common than JIS? At least, I've seen Pozidriv in the wild more than JIS so... My biggest problem is I can't find anyone who makes short versions of 1/4 inch bits except LTT. I'd love to buy a full bitset but only if they're short bits that fit in the handle.
JIS is almost entirely a japan exclusive afaik
But electronics there's o many Japanese made/designed electronics which is where you see JIS
PZ? You see it in.... Uhhh ikea stuff?
Cant recall seeing it anywhere else (other than EU designed junk work related, which I doubt many folks here encounter)
PZ are quite common in EU
Where the fuck are my cables
sold out
G'damn
Ad was out for only a day
Really struggling with the LTT store recently
All the good stuff sells out way too fast
I can't afford to keep doing separate orders for individual items so I just don't end up buying anything at all
I really wanted the floatplane screwdriver but there's nothing else to ship it with - everything is just sold out constantly
Would love to get it with a floatplane hoodie, some cables, the gold pin, super soft hoodie, wan hoodie v3 but they're all sold out
I don't think I've ever seen any of those items in stock together at the same time
I was thinking that the inconsistent stock availability is probably having some unfortunate side effect on their metrics. I'd love to buy the cat/gamer underwear for example, but I havent done so despite it being in stock in my size, but I haven't done so because I also want to get coloured blank tees in my size which are out of stock. It'd suck if theres a lot of people in a similar boat and the business people conclude "yeah the cat underwear was a flop" or something.
US Store started to sell out in minutes.. Linus said they really underestimated demand.. but they have more wire, so restock should be in March..
For a new product catagory they didn't want to get loads of stock at the start and find there wasn't demand..
the demand is really high, so it's almost impossible to keep up
Cables aren't what decide the compatibility of these things
You just need a good cable
Yeah it’s odd that they completely removed them
They weren’t even completely sold out I’m pretty sure
Thought I was having a glitch when I opened the website, do we have any idea why?
I don’t
Guessing some issue came up that'll be fixed when they're back in office on monday
found the quote from the USB-C spec (appendix F.2.4) that explains thunderbolt behavior for cables that don't have a Thunderbolt VID from Intel. Modern thunderbolt devices are supposed to work in proper thunderbolt mode for a passive USB4 gen 2 (20Gbps) and USB 4 gen3 (40Gbps) cable. They just aren't allowed to claim "“Compatible with Thunderbolt™” without a Thunderbolt VID (USB4™ Thunderbolt3™ Compatibility Requirements Specification section 6).
If the Intel/TBT3 SVID of 0x8087 is not returned in response to the Discover SVID command, the cable is a
Non-TBT3 cable. If a Non-TBT3 cable’s Product Type is Active Cable, it shall be regarded as not compatible with TBT3, and
TBT3 Discovery shall exit.If a Non-TBT3 cable’s Product Type is Passive Cable, the USB Highest Speed field in the cable’s Passive Cable
VDO shall determine TBT3 functionality and speed. If USB Highest speed is “USB4 Gen3” or higher, the cable
shall be regarded as a TBT3 capable cable at Gen3 performance. If USB Highest speed is “USB 3.2 Gen1” or
“USB 3.2/USB4 Gen2”, it shall be regarded as a TBT3 capable cable limited to passive Gen2 performance. If
USB Highest Speed indicates “USB 2.0-only, No SuperSpeed”, TBT3 Discovery shall exit.Note: Legacy TBT3 platforms may not recognize USB4 Gen3 or higher passive cables that don’t also include
the TBT3 Passive Cable Discover Identity VDOs. When this happens, the USB4 Gen3 or higher passive cable
will still function but will only be used at Gen2 speeds.
Ofc as always, words in the spec are one thing and reality can be another. ymmv
personally im just waiting for some in depth 3rd party tests of the cables to come out on some other youtuber's channel that goes over everything and really tests to see whats possible and whats not. i mean i feel like there has to be someone who will do it
I donno of anyone that does dives into Cables.. I think we'll get more subjective reviews based on people using them with devices known to work, and seeing if the cables do-don't..
But since most USB and TB specs work around "if the cable is good enough" I expect anything not needing a TB Chip to work..
im just waiting to see pcie tunneling for egpus and such working with my own two eyes
And thats wise.. I might have ordered mine day one, but I'd never suggest anyone else buy something on launch day with no reviews or or testing..
yeahh, i mean, shit. for the price, even for just 40gbps and 240w pd, a cable that long is pretty damn good. but i got 240w pd cables and cables for 40gps that are short. a long one would just be convenient
Thats what I got, 3m USB A-C, 2.5m C-C.. the balance of length and speed.. and from there I'll decide if I want more down the road..
In theory, thunderbolt devices could have their firmware updated to no longer require the TBT3 VDOs from the cable's emark IC, but that relies on a vendor maintaining a product lol
Yeah, I was so sad that I couldn't get any.
I was going to purchase like 10.
Well labeled and good quality cables are hard to come across.
It sucks, but I 100% get why Linus didn't order more.. a wrong decision could have ended up with them having stock for years.. But at least they were smart and are ready to "quickly" build more..
I think they really thought they were going to be a niche product because it was ""expensive"" and maybe they also thought no one cared about good cables
Yep and thats why Linus was cautious.. cause it very easily could have gone that way..
Maybe the prices were wrong that's why it gone from store?
Otherwise idk why anyone would call them expensive or why they are gone from the store
They are gone from the store cause they are sold out I assume
They were almost sold out of all lengths by WANShow.. all that was left at the start of WAN was the 2 longest and 2 shortest
I still don't see why it would vanish from the store completely
Maybe someone found a way to trick it into letting them place an order for soldout sku's or something?
But the prices weren't wrong, linus went over them on wan.. even if one sku got the wrong price both prices were very close..
Hmm okay weird
Because they seemed like great value
Well I will just have to wait
I think the diff was like $5 between the ones that just did USB2 speed vs Highspeeds..
Cause there was no diff in price based on length
Yeah it was and the 5m was also the higher price
Didn't see that, but that was a USB2 speed if memory serves and I only looked at the higher speed ones.. I orderd 2.5m c-c and 3m a-c..
Yeah the 480mbps 5m was higher price than 4.5m etc
Somehow they always come up with products I am looking for but don't expect at all
I hope they do extension cables in the future too.. cause for some reason almost every USBHub doesn't just put a USBC in port 😐 I know why they didn't initially, theres no actual standard for them and such.. but I think having a female end sku would be nice, especially for some of my cases..
I still can't believe how not expensive they were
I got a really fancy expensive usb hyb that is externally powered with usb c ports but it was way overkill money for it
yeah, anyone who complains about the price
obviously knows nothing about cables
these cables are actually fairly priced
hell, they're cheaper than some anker and ugreen stuff
Sort ones were pricy, but the medium-long was much more affordable vs other offerings.. since despite length not being a major factor in cost, other companies charge more due to perceived value (and to make up for selling short ones cheap)..
And the long high speed ones are flat out great value
i think in ugreens case, they also make niche cables, i.e display port to hdmi, and other stuff like that, they take lower margins on those, and higher margins to c-c cables, since c-c cables are generally easier to sell
I'm just excited to replace my car cable that I slammed into my door 8 times but still somehow it works fine charging
Why even have one long enough to reach the door? :p
Can't believe it took me 8 attempts to close the door before realising the massacre I created
lol, yeah, i was gonna say, a 1 meter cable is enough for a car
Idk it came with my car adapter lol
I just picture him plugging in an electirc car to a USB charger..
HAHA
https://www.reddit.com/r/LinusTechTips/comments/1qssfli/ltt_truespec_cables_delisted_from_the_store/
Ah okay so it was this then, but it wasn't a trick just an issue so that means it was probably all out of stock when I was looking anyway
a few people in the replies are reporting similar issues on their own shopify instances, so its not specific to LTT
This. And looking through /r/Shopify and /r/ShopifyDev ... It smells like Shopify made some kind of change to an API that didn't go smoothly for people. But that's just my observation; the API changes could be completely unrelated to the inventory issues.
either way, they clearly fucked something up 😄
LTT, iFixit, Wiha, Klein Tools, PB Swiss, SEDY, SHARDEN, Jorest, AXTH, XOOL, SK Tools, VESSEL, PB Swiss, TANYO, WorkBless, Soleilwear, AstroAI, TanSon, and Fanttik. Precision and electric screwdrivers compared for bit strength, bit durability, comfort, magnetic bit retention and torque.
I purchased all of the precision screwdrivers and test eq...
hmmm, dumbo here whats wrong with taking backorders on potentially successful product? some legal concern or is it because with such amounts it cannot be guaranteed by the March/etc times mentioned in the past?
are you talking about cables here? the issue wasn't that it was a back order, its that the store was showing them as in stock
Linus is broadly uncomfortable taking your money when either you don't know with confidence what you're buying (new product lines), or he doesn't know with high confidence that the supply timelines will be what they say. The latter has historically been rather difficult. (He made some comments on it rather recently on reddit if you care to dig into his exact wording.)
Backorders lead to a lot of extra work as people cancel them or keep contacting support over why X hasn't shipped yet because people don't read and/or are impatient..
So Linus would just rather wait till they have stock to sell stock.. even if personally I'd be fine doing backorder/preorder/etc
interesting because it would effectively create artificial scarcity as you can't predict how many will sell when stock appears, so you would by default manufacture less of them, and then cycle infinitely repeats
Smaller runs probably have a higher cost per-product than larger runs.. so they are probably doing small runs, get an idea, then scaling up to as large as they think they will need for some timeframe (like a year)..
I'm pretty sure the business team is very pro preorders since it can be great for stuff like that, but Linus is pretty commited to his stance and he's the final say. He's wiggled a bit on established product categories (i.e. shirts), but for new stuff like the cables its a calculated dice roll on how much to stock and whats skus specifically.
They have only taken backorders in the past when the product is ready but they don't have it in their warehouse yet
Shirts is a different story since they've already got the blanks and they're printed locally
What they've done with the cables makes sense, they've got the rolls of cable and all the ends ready, they're just not fully certain of what lengths people want more so they haven't committed to making all of them
Also backorders just add overhead.. which is something I think LMG struggles with as it is..
Especially in cases like this where while Linus has an idea when more will be ready, there is no set date, and its not all up to him as there are 3rd parties involved, like the one that does the testing for the higher speeds..
Quick one, where did the magnetic cable management and new cables go from the store?
Can you give a tldr please, in work and Reddit is blocked on the network
they're out of stock and shopify was having issues allowing people to place orders for out of stock things, so they removed them from the store for now
Ahh ok thanks, what about the magnet cable management?
It's still there and mostly in stock on global site at least.
Cheers found them
Here is part of a list.. looks like the USB A-C one, but C-C is very similar but with better speeds at the shorter lengths..
But ya lots of options.. so if you are looking to build around a specific setup thats available 🙂

Has anyone else had issues with the transparent screw driver and the racheting system locking up when trying to use it?
YES!
Someone else with this issue!
I have a standard black driver, and a transparent one, never had an issue with the black one, but it's a problem fairly often with the transparent one
Ok so I'm not going crazy and I'm not trying to be that person just feeling out for different stories
I have my black shaft screwdriver and it sounds different compared to the transparent one
Genuinely how i felt about it
I'd like to know what the result is if you'd be so kind
likely the number of pictures
And it got taken down again
Weird I've seen people post pics here before
I'll keep you updated and see what happens
It was locking up hard till I had to shift it to the other direction
Mine does that too
The black shaft screwdriver sounds more subtle sounding
For what its worth my transparent screwdriver has been as flawless as my solid colour one..
Worth more than you think imo
Thank you 🙂
I've been wanting an LTT screwdriver since the release and saw the ProjectFarms review and head to head match ups on the LTT mega pro drivers when he drop that video I know I'm fairly new to the server but I've been following Linus for a few years now
They are quality screwdrivers.. the worth is subjectable of course, not everyone needs an expensive screwdriver, but they aren't $5 chinese ones with a LTT Logo glued on either :p
That's fair lol Ive munched through screw drivers and wanted a decent driver for a change now I could afford it
I suggested a bunch of people get them when they had the mystery driver deals clearing out the noctua and retro stock.. at those prices it was a no-brainer for someone needed a reliable driver.
Ya my view was I spend once and never again.
(hopefully)
I got my little brother a OG bookbag from LTT and it's best quality bookbag I've seen
I use the Commuter Backpack daily, its been fantastic.. Nothing I've got from LTT has been a letdown quality wise.
I might've received a faulty unit cause I wasn't using it for anything out of the normal and I wanted to send a few photos of the recent pictures but the bot is saying I keep sending too many photos it can result in a ban so I mean
It's all good
The black shaft racheting system is definitely quieter in comparison
they removed them from the store because apparently shopify was letting people place orders for them even if they didnt have stock available.
You can view them on the whenplane (unofficial) archive though, if you're just wanting to see what lengths were available (and some of which will probably be available again once the shopify issue is fixed).
If you expand the "Product Metadata" dropdown, then look in the "Options" section, it lists the kinds that were available

After over 5 years of development, LTT “TrueSpec” cables are here!
Where most USB cables are bargain-bin conductors wrapped in hope. What you see on the cable …
def seen a few people have this
reach out to support
You're seeing that message because you don't have a role. If you grab a role via the instructions in #welcome, you'll be able to post more photos at a time. That limit is there because of the recent volume of bot spam, and is automatic -- it isn't considered an "infraction," so no need to worry about a ban or anything. I know the wording is kinda scary :P
my noctua driver had the same issue and support gave me a free replacement black/orange driver, i'd imagine they got you in this case
Does anyone know if https://www.ula-equipment.com/product/fidlock-magnetic-sternum-strap/ will work with the ltt backpack? It looks basically identical to the one they used to sell on the site but I was wondering if anyone had some insight?
hoping my orange prismagic doesnt have that ratchet issue 😄
I just logged into LTT forum and it turns out my account has been active since 2022 lol I gotta figure out how to link them now
Thank you for that btw
Sweet lol I'm green now
I couldn't remember if I had an account then I logged in using google
Right rules sorry for the ping
They couldn't replace it with the same noctua screw driver I'm assuming cause the limited drop was finished right?
yea, no more stock, but still plenty happy with the normal one, especially cause the noctua was a mystery color purchase and slightly cheaper
it still works has a fixed driver, the ratchet mode just bugs out and slips
Ahh I see but you still have the noctua one you probably just don't use it as much
That answered that lol
Just testing but here's what my transparent screwdriver looks like
Everything looks normal
i still wish they had a green transparent one
Glow in the dark
Even a collab with dbrand for glow circuit style imprint inside the mold of the handle and it actually glowing
That way you could retain the same surface material while having a cool aesthetic of glow circuit
Transparent screw driver with a glow circuit twist
its also a diff plastic
Is there a confirmation of that somewhere I would like to read into it
I see the differences and I can see the differences in structural integrity
That's probably why I'm having these issues now
Tritan is a natural clear material that's normally used for water bottles and other products of that nature
But it's a strong material
Yeah it’s what Nalgene uses IIRC
Its interesting that they beefed up the delrin on the transparent one
I wonder if the transparent driver can be polished lol
I’ve found that the standard driver gets a sheen as it wears
Haven’t used my transparent enough to know if it wears similarly
I was looking at the reddit post of a black shaft being used for 2 years
Definitely has a shine to it lol
Transparent was made to be the work horse I've been wanting the black shaft screwdriver since release so I'ma just cherish it 😆
I'm just hoping that support gets back to me cause it would lock up on me randomly and the selector for the drive looks scratched up bad but it's barely been 2 weeks of getting it and I haven't used it heavily till yesterday
I wish it was the cryoteal I ordered
Wait is this material sheet public or just server information
probably because the ABS - as it happens the same with ABS keycaps for keyboards.
Makes sense
Is the screw driver good?
I think so.
I've used it more to put together IKEA furniture than building PCs lol
It's worth buying
cables are back
I see that too, when it says "WE FOUND MORE!' does that mean orders before will ship sooner?
Yes. Look at project farms review of screwdrivers
I know my order from the opening hours are already on the way.. so I assume they were conservative in how many of each they listed as available in the first place.. LMG has a habbit of finding extra stock of their product lol
interesting mine havent gotten an update email nor a tracking number so I guess I'm waiting till march
I should say mine are shipping from-to Canada..
But ya I got the shipping notification Friday Night, and the carrier got it in their hands today.
Does anyone know if https://www.ula-equipment.com/product/fidlock-magnetic-sternum-strap/ will work with the ltt backpack? It looks basically identical to the one they used to sell on the site but I was wondering if anyone had some insight?
Highly recommend grabbing a Pozidriv bit set btw, if you’re using it to assemble IKEA furniture. They use it pretty widely, and you can mostly get by with Phillips but will have a better time with the proper bit.
What length to get hmmm
Aint got many choices
... Do those C-to-C cables have indicator lights on them?
No
That's a hole
And the copper shielding behind it
Weird that it's on those and yet not the A-to-C ones, even on the C end.
is there any information to when we can buy the cables?
there's a guy in my theater that i harass by constantly telling him "lttstore.com"
Is a TrueSpec 40Gbps USB-C to C the same as a Thunderbolt 4 cable?
no
@undone copper support got back to me asking for a video
Finally sat down and made a video fingers crossed
if that's of any help. what Tynan said during friday's WAN show.
That's great. Thanks. Will definitely try one and see.
the only caveat is that old devices from the thunderbolt 3 era that didn't/don't receive firmware updates won't operate at 40Gbps, however they should still function at 20Gbps
I have a dock to which I connect 3 different laptops, one of which is a M4 MBP. Its cable is getting old, and since it's critical for work I absolutely need to have 2 at all times
if it's a thunderbolt 3 dock that was released before thunderbolt 3 was brought into USB4, then check if you can get firmware updates for it. They may have updated it to allow 40Gbps operation without a thunderbolt VID. Originally, thunderbolt 3 only allowed 20Gbps operation when a thunderbolt VID was not present in a passive cable's emark IC.
If it's thunderbolt 4/5, then you're good and none of this matters. Even if it's thunderbolt 3 and never got a firmware update to change the behavior, it'll still work at half bandwidth (20Gbps).
I don't get how their TrueSpec cables are cheaper than some of the Anker ones I bought. Step up Anker.
Can anyone that has gotten their cables already and own calipers please measure the thickness of the USB C connecter, I want to see if I want one for my mouse along the rest I'll get later on.
What manufacturer did they partner with for the cables ? Can’t seem to find that info anywhere. And yes I watched the announcement video
For reasons obvious to people that know, manufacturers for things are generally not disclosed publicly
Has anyone use their commuter backpack as a personal item during a flight btw?
I just realized it is pretty close to the dimensions allowed.
So i just purchased this cable for my Wooting 60 v2. And a day later they posted this tweet. I think ill cancel and get the LTT one.

Reddit confirmed this for me.
Just seems odd since they were praising them heavily. Why not give a shoutout?
Because that's not how the world works
lol
Ew snake oil cables
nojoke, these are my vr charging station cables I got from AliExpress.
Doesn't mean they're bad (wouldn't have gotten more then), tho 1000% not their own creation.
and to be clear, the first cable like that I got around 6 years ago.
Yeah and it's been fine for delta and American for me. The full size bag also has been allowed on delta for me, but I don't trust it, some of the smaller regional jets the full size gets a little tetrissy to fit under the seat.
Aesthetic. Its a custom cable for a keyboard. I usually buy Lindy or use stock. But the stock one is very stiff my 80he daughterboard usbc is a bit lose because of it.
Commuter I've not had that trouble with, but have stopped bringing it as I use a laptop bag instead which holds my stuff better, namely the need for multiple laptops, while retaining semi convenient access to at least one of them... Which the ltt bags kinda don't do at all
Good luck taking a laptop out on a plane from either ltt bag
Because that's a good way to lose a partner
Yeah no I'm not commenting on the looks. The wording they use and the fact that the cables have any issues at all running keyboard or mouse
It's shit covered in glitter
With an absolute shit price
Yeah its stupid.
Burn the snake oil salesmen to the ground
I find it funny that I have the same cables in multiple and they talk stuff like "designed to do X blah blah"
they just buy them in bulk themself lmao.
I don't think your cables should be talking :P
Bu-bu-bu-but our HDMI cables are GOLD plated. Pls gib monies
These AliExpress slop resellers probabky don't even know what makes a cable good
that at least has some truth to it.
Gold plates less contact corrosion etc, tho still does dog poo to quality.
to be fair, AliExpress doesn't mean it's crap, they aren't trash for me + it's just a marketplace, so you don't exactly resell off Ali but from the manufacture themself.
What I find funny tho is that I know how cheap I can get them myself compared to how expensive they are in reselling...
You missed the word right after AliExpress there
for 3-4 euros I actually find them shockingly good in quality, metal housing etc.
for charging great, but that's it.
Are the true spec C to C cables any good?
are you an LLM trying to get information?
thing is, the cables aren't this bad, they just aren't good either, in this case just extremely overpriced, which is sad.
If they ain't up to spec they're shit
Manufactured waste
for the money I'm unsure on what to expect, for charging I like them a lot ngl
as for spec, Noone even knows what they try to hit, not being advertised as 2.0 even
1.1 they definetly hit no issue
Yes
so to that I disagree
Disagree all you want, it's true
they aren't sold as anything highspec, just usb, so for all I know it's 1.1, which works at all, charging works, even qc and that's fine
to the manufacture I don't throw anything, to resellers telling bullcrap I do.
powerloss f. e. is even lower than most other cables I got, hence why I actually do not dislike them
I don't care what they're sold as.
They're out of spec USB cables. They end up in the world, unlabelled and unable to do what you'd expect them to do.
This is the entire reason the truespec cables exist
how do you want to know it's out of spec?
1.1 surely not.
and cause they aren't advertised as anything higher I don't expect them to do anything more.
which is precisely why im quite happy with them, they do what I expect them to, in cheap, better than some others you'd get on Amazon, ngl
what I just find sad tho is those getting reselled as something they just aren't fulfilling, in expensive.
IMHO I went to global shop can we get lenghts in global units where 99% world uses not the so called "freedom units" where they took them out of ass.
iT's nOt oUt oF sPeC bEcAuSe uSb1.1 eXiStS
Stop it.
It's a USB cable currently being manufacturered. It should be able to meet USB3.0 at least.
It is manufactured waste.
I wanna know any 3.0 cable on cheap, lol.
They're literally in metric
if I just want a cable to charge stuff I'm not planning on spending 10+eur on it.
if I want something to use my external nvme or whatever I get something actually good and no snake oil resold bs.
well not quite but i have to go in to each one to get metric

okok now i saw 😄
lmao
tho brackets seems my eyes follow much more
btw, even truespec cables arent all 3.0+.
In the stupidly long ones.... Where it's basically impossible to do more than 2.0 in a passive cable
personally I'm quite happy that there are cheaper options for things where it just plain doesnt matter. important to me is clear communication on what it is.
Which is entirely acceptable
then don't be like "anything not 3.0+ is manufactured waste".
They're also Clearly labelled
prices are reasonable, tho out of stock 🙁
Context is important
that's the thing, I expect labeling to be true. When it doesn't promise anything - I don't expect any meaningful performance. And fitting pricing.
which is why I f. e. heavily dislike cables falsely claiming some fictive speed or being a blue housing while performing usb1.1. all while mostly still not being cheap.
Again, that's the problem. you know the price and where you got it. Someone else using it doesn't, and it's not labelled. It has USB C so people will have expectations and will then be disappointed
which imho is the fault of the reseller.
the manufacture doesn't give false promises (tbh no promises to anything other than being usb at all, aka 1.1).
on c to c cables I'd get what you're talking about. on a to c, tbh - I don't.
Also the spec doesn't allow 1.1 on C so yes they're out of spec
I found out they actually did get the manufacture to produce c to c. Didn't actually realize that. Sorry bout that. Yea should fulfill 2.0 at least with being clearly sold as that (not being 3.0+)...
Doesn't matter what end the C is on if it has it at all it has to be 2.0 or higher
usb be like
sike, 1.0 is now 2.0 low speed, 1.1 is 2.0 full-speed and 2.0 is 2.0 high-speed
to be clear I'm not entirely sure if that's actually true and changed like that, but honestly, it wouldn't surprise me if it's not just a joke but true... Supposed to have been in 2003.
Holy crap they seem to actually have done that. Which explains why in type c theyre just talking about 2.0.
jup, the older speed classes are legit part of 2.0 now. You simply cannot make the random crap usb does up.
that usb 2.0 now can be applied to anything that's 1,5mbit/s all the way up to 480mbit/s is just comical.
and that's also why my 2.0 usb isolator doesn't work with 480mbit/s. And not even lying with the spec... lol
USB C is just a connector.
It can be any spec inside the wire.
USB 2 is very common in "high power" cables, since you can have fewer, but thicker, wires to support 100W of charging or whatever.
To get a high wattage (100W+), high-speed usb 3 cable? (IE: 20+ gb/s) you're going to pay a very significant premium
For some work setups, I went out of my way to buy a few: USB C to Mini USB B cables
because the device used Mini, and the new laptop had a line of USB C plugs
ngl im surprised you didnt come to that conclusion already 😄
For south america thats normal shipping times lol
My max wait for an item in-stock was 5 months for a book
5months? Did they have to plant the tree first, before getting the paper?
what is even going on? i saw steve belching out more nonsense on mute.
?
I'm not aware of any new drama..
But I don't watch GN anymore.. not just cause of his LTT stuff, but I got tired of his general rants and such..
i unfollowed a twitch streamer because they had steve on blast for an hour, saw something about cables wasnt sure what was going on
yeah
this twitch streamer is not a tech space person, so they had no idea what the actual context was, so yeah nope
i want 2 smol cables for my mac mini. thanks much
I miss his reviews but I clocked out after a few times where mid review hed stop and go on some rant about a specific way the marketing phrased something and the like.. Like, I get it, it might not be accurate, I don't need 10min on it..
mhm
I got my cables on the way, I expect to be happy, and expect to buy more down the road..
i wish i could get the grass skin from dbrand for said mac mini, but its only like handheld stuff it seems
I love my MacMini.. great value..
yes. was like $350 certified. last gen intel
Ahh I got the M4..
anyways, glad there wasnt a steve rant about the cables.
There might be, but if hes gonna rant he sould wait till people have them in hand :p
nice. i needed the expanable ram - upped it from 2x4gig to 2x16 gig before the ai scam bubble of course.
sigh
But I'd rather he not.. both Linus and Steve need to forget the other exists..
agree
linus has that adhd/on the spectrum personality which can get hyperfocused & sometimes he looses sight of things, but this not the channe lfor that. gonna go see what the situ is for US cable availability
Probably not much.. but restock in March hopefully(tm)
But the sort lenghs were low demand so they might still be available.. I ordered mine from Global 10-15min after Launch and only just got my stuff in before they were sold out 😄
I think for me it was the constant negativity. I mean, I appreciate the work GN does, exposing bad behaviour and stuff, but you really get tired of it
Invite him on the wan show to hash it out in person like adults. They’re so transparent, right ?
I don't think that would be a good idea for either of them.
Exposing bad behavior is good.
But Steve goes on vendettas and loses any form of objectivity.
Dear God no. Let's not and say we didn't.
Linus I think wants to never acknowledge Steve again. But I don't think Steve will ever let it go.
Every few months Linus will make a thinly veiled common on WAN.. so while he might know better, both live rent free in eachothers minds..
my cable is now delayed till mid april :\
Was it ordered later in the day? Probably one of the victims of Shopify making up their own quantity..
It sucks, but congrats on forcing Linus to do a preorder!
lol
Just got my gift card. Just wow. Wish more merchants were this good. First the carabiners for my ltt backpack and now this. 👍
I have been using an LTT Threadripper pillow as my main pillow for a year and a half or so now. I fucking love this thing. I'm so glad I have another thread ripper pillow and an intel one still in the box. I'm so sad they got rid of them. 10/10 pillows. I have MANGLED the stuffing in this pillow into all sorts of interesting shapes, still great.
Funny thing about their giftcards is LTT doesn't even see any of the money until you actually buy something with it.
It's their shopping platform (Shopify or whatever)
Because of mentioning the carabiners, I would think they received a gift card for free (probably because of the recent cable purchase error?), instead of buying it for no particular reason
But yes what you said is still true
-# I think I heard it on WAN
Wireless charging is convenient, but when you actually need a quick top-up, cables still win. With USB-C capable of fast charging and serious data speeds, not all cables are created equal.
In this video, I take a look at several USB-C cables sent over by Linus Media Group, including a high-end USB-C to USB-C cable rated for up to 240W of power ...
Yeah somebody asked it on WAN once. Technically they don't see the money until you actually buy something. Instead Shopify or whoever has it. We're all giving Shopify interest free loans, lmao
Also im very sad because they didnt have in stock one of the items I bought :/
So they cant replace it 😭
There's a pinned message in this channel with a link to the subreddit where they explain.
TL;DR: there was a Shopify inventory "thingy" but also... people bought the cables REALLY fast.
Hmm on mobile i don’t see pinned stuff 👀
Yeah you have to dig for it. Discord is silly like that on mobile.
Here we go - quick link to the message with the reddit link: #lttstore message
Oh, I don’t use that site but I’m glad I’m able to read it anyway
I was about to send a link to my partner for something she can get me for Valentine’s Day & the store page was 404’d
If I’m able to get the external drive enclosure that I want. I will probably get a C to C cable also.
That probably has to wait for a bit though cause I just bought a monitor
Gonna be a little while before the restock so just send her the gift card page
huh yeah i didnt know that but i searched it up and sure enough they said that in 2022
https://whenplane.com/history/show/2022/04/15/transcript?find=do not show
up on my sale report in the Shopify
dashboard does that mean Shopify holds
the gift card money or do they send it
to us
uh I believe that they hold it until
it's used
okay so then#match
I don’t believe Linus was correct about that
nick said that, not linus
Regardless, it isn't accurate :P
Businesses wouldn't let that fly.. it'd be disastrous for cashflow
i'd assume shopify has public documentation on this somewhere, i just cant search for it rn
https://community.shopify.com/t/does-gift-card-purchase-revenue-get-deposited-immediately/260225 this seems to cover it. Linus(/Nick?) probably looking at the daily sales number and not realising that the money does show up despite not being considered revenue.
Hello! I am aware that gift card purchases do not show up in daily sales until they are redeemed. But does that money get deposited into our accounts? Or does it just sit in limbo until it gets redeemed? Customers purchasing gift cards is great way to help a struggling business but not if the business doesn’t get the money until it is redeeme...
Heyo
Out of curiosity does anyone know what's in the line up for the mystery screwdriver rotation?
a while back it was mostly noctua. but no idea now. usually mystery is a mixture of stuff we can’t get rid of or we have too much of or to little of.
Noctua would be cool but what are the chances of a prismagic one probably slim to none right
I wouldn't be opposed to a custom color one I wish I could get a purple/green one
Sorry for the ping
yeah i highly doubt that they will put a new release in a mystery bin. but you never know.
no worries
Do you have a ballpark of what's left? Cause I highly doubt for a noctua one
Well there aren't any available on the global store, but it's probably the special colourways they did (green, pink, yellow etc) that are in there now. Pretty sure they ran out of the Noctua ones a while back
I think its out of stock because they have no colour ways they want rid of rn
idk what us site has in stock
different DC so
not sure if your in US or worldwide, but i guess theyre out of noctua in the US atleast as they couldn't replace mine
I'm in the US
id guess is a mix of black, orange or retro then.
How often does the ltt backpack go on sale and for how much? I'm going to be in the market for a new backpack soon and don't want to order and have a sale pop up a week or two later
Usually it's just during big sales like Lime (Prime) Day or for the Christmas season, and it's usually the backpack with some items bundled with it rather than a flat discount
It's a great bag though! I got the commuter backpack and it has served me well
yea i can't recall if it's actually gone on sale, just bundled with other things for the same price
Works for me. I'm kicking myself for not picking up one last year
I do wish the various mystery things included the pool of possible things or things that ever were possible. I understand it's mostly to do with what they have random stock of and odds would fluctuate, but it's not always clear if certain things are 100% excluded, or when/if things are added to the pool. If they were to for example do a 'mystery sweater', it wouldn't be clear if hoodies are included (or vice versa if a mystery hoodie could include unhooded things) since they're all the same category in the store, but also kinda different things. Or when applicable if premium/luxe variations of products are excluded or if people could get extremely lucky, etc.
The current mystery options are fairly narrow, but at the same time who knows if one could have randomly gotten a mystery prismagic on launch, or if they're excluded now or only be added to the pool later, or how that works.
As others have said I don't believe it's ever gone on sale directly. I bought the WAN backpack on lime day and I got a free K70 RGB TKL with it
The free shipping swayed me more than the keyboard though if I'm honest
I don't think they tend to do major sales outside if lime day and black Friday. There was the ship storm thing last year but that was a rare situation. I'd say you're safe to buy
@undone copper got a good update
So instead of getting another transparent screwdriver I asked for a mystery one
Two new colors of the Super Soft Hoodie are up on the store
Istg every time I order a product, you guys drop a variant I like even more.
Have you not ordered since the store split?
Anyone know what pants those are?
I lied ig.
Hopefully MCM sticks to my desk good.
Would support even know if I hit them up?
Nice.
Yeah I wanna know what pants those are too
wouldn’t surprise me if they are an upcoming product
Anybody know if USB A -> B and USB C -> B Cables are planned, this is used for DJ equipment, looking for a good durable cable
and yeah i too would have loved to known more colors were coming. would have been nice to have multiple colors instead of multiple grays. oh well.
usb b is not used a lot compared to usb a/c. so probably not. but haven’t seen any official news about it
most digital audio equipment has USB B ports, it's actually really common
but compared to A & C it is not lol
a lot of newer audio stuff uses C anyway
a-b cables usually aren't very problematic either
I'd say not enough of a market for them to bother
woooooo my prismagic and floatplane precision kit is coming Monday
this is by far the quickest delivery yet
ordered on the 30th, arriving on the 9th
10 days
easy. blue.
thick lines, but cute!
I want it to last and believe it or not it was printed at .15 resolution
what is .15 res? .15mm?
the line width on it looks bigger than i would expect
but im not sure how much of that is being exacerbated by translucent filament
yea .15mm
i started with .2 for the first layer for better adhesion then the rest is .15mm and very low part cooling and its going at about 100mm/s with accelerations
low part cooling for better transparency
Not quite Noctua brown and beige but it's what I had on hand
That looks sick
Thank you!
Not sure about the rules, can I post the link to the model?
It's a remix I did
I wish I found a print in place model instead of using screws
I would love this model if you wouldn't mind if anything without the noctua logo
But it saying black shaft cause I managed to snag a black shaft screwdriver
I might try to remix it as a print in place but I actually like the screws, gives me the option to replace it if something happens
https://www.printables.com/model/1580673-lttnoctua-screwdriver-case
That's my remix but the original one is linked in there
The logo is such a pain to press fit lol
I used a BT to print it in one go, no way I'm gonna do it in separate prints
I don't have a multicolor printer unfortunately
I looked for a while a couple weeks back but without luck... is there any case out there that has a normal size screwdriver + shaft extension? I only found those with space for a stubby too and I don't want a case that's bigger than necessary lol
just bought the super soft hoodie in blue
i have never measured myself this much before
Stupid question but who uses their screw driver as a fidget spinner lol
I like having fidget stuff (not necessarily a spinner) in my pens. So I guess that, if I, instead of a pen, used a screwdriver, then yeah sure I would like that
Do you have a LTT screwdriver?
I have been waiting for one for more than 70 days lol
bought it for cyber monday 😭
😭
I got my black shaft and transparent screw driver in about 3 weeks
Wow
And I got a mystery screw driver coming in soon as a replacement to my transparent one
The order got lost, and they no longer have replacements for the black/brass scribedriver, which annoys me A LOT
Black/brass?
You got a picture of it?
the pen
Oooo
My order of things I cared about was Backpack > Scribedriver >>>> Screwdriver 😭
And now they dont have scribedrivers 😭 😭 😭 😭 😭 😭 😭 😭
yeah yeah
its either a refund or replacement item for the same price :/
And they do have the silver/brass but its so much uglier imo, also it doesnt combine with my rotring 800 mechanical pencil
A lot of things have been going wrong for me lately 😩
I mean wouldnt it be better to just get the refund and wait for the next best thing?
As I said, bought it for cyber monday. There they have free shipping. Otherwise, shipping to south america is $90
Oh Jesus
yeah..............
I mean they could accommodate with free shipping voucher/coupon code for your next purchase if you ask
And today I finished listening to WAN show and Linus said like "if you want an item from the store, buy it NOW, because we cant make another batch of 4000 items just so you can buy one", no shit, thats what I did as soon as I saw that pen 2 months ago, and now I got no pen 😭 , I am so frustrated and sad about it........
I asked something like "hey, could you send the backpack + screwdriver and the pen in different shipments? I wanted the backpack by march and its been more than 2 months, but I also want the pen, so could you send it once you have more stock?"
but that was a no 😭
So you could ask for your refund plus a free shipping voucher/coupon
Cause it sounds like your scribedriver mightve been stolen
yes it was
the thing is, if I ask for a refund, I might not ever find another good deal of the commuter backpack + screwdriver
so I would be wasting money anyways
And I need that backpack
Idk what to say then lol
I travel 5 hours a day to university and to work, and my current backpack sucks
If I am travelling this much I want to at least be as comfortable as I can
(I take the public transport)
Yeah... At one side, I am like "at least I wish they gave me a compensation, like, "hey, you can replace a scribedriver for a 50 cad item instead of a 40 cad because you have been waiting for your stuff for +2 months"", but at the other side, I understand that they already lost a bunch of money with my free shipping twice and a bunch of expensive items
I was sad when they refunded my cryoteal driver so I know where you're coming from
The packages should at least be insured for losses as long as they declare the right value for them
You know they can refund individual items in an order, right?
I must be blind omg 💀 feel like I scrolled all of printables, haha. Thank you so much!
@subtle folio well... I ended up working on it.
Can anyone confirm that the new Prismagic screwdrivers are the same dimensions as the regular ones?
all the drivers are the same dimensions
we made it
what happened to the fancy screwdriver boxes 😄
cutting costs eh?
thats /s btw i do not care bc its just packaging
Is there any way to safely remove the bit-carry-part of the transparent screwdriver? So I can fit a light ring beneath it
oh i never noticed a purple/silver precision driver
Think it’s the floatplane one.
I think the floatplane has a blue body and blue cap
unless his camera just turned it purple for some reason
funny you should say this, i sent it to a colleague off site and he thought it was purple too. Along with his colleague
my camera must have got weird with it 🤷
but yeah, its the floatplane one
Yeah this happens
At one point our dog had a leash that, in most lighting, would show up purple in photos
It was not purple
Must just be the lighting in my office. I'll see if i can reproduce it tomorrow
was on my 16 pro max so hardly a shit camera ¯_(ツ)_/¯
it looked a little purple in the fpx of luke seeing it too so
It's definitely just a white balance thing or something
ny office lights got changed 6 months ago and im still salty about it but
¯_(ツ)_/¯
the hue of the light was way better before
haha im glad I'm not insane!
this was what i got back from a colleague
as soon as i saw that i was like oh i definitely see it
i think you're just covering up an accidental leak of a new precision driver colorway!!!!
Is the AI for support email down? Usually I get a auto reply saying thank you for submitting and that it will be reviewed
The bits also have a gold hue
so what we've established is my office is just not good for taking photos of precision screw drivers
I don't even have a window bro
IT always get the shitty office
Nerds don't need sunlight
-# /s
the ONLY upside is I have aircon
a big ceiling unit aircon that is all for me
its overpowered as fuck for the room, it can cool it in minutes lol
backpack proving itself once again for travel
nice
what's your experience travelling with it by a plane? I'm planning to take it with me as a carry-on but i'm not certain if it would fit the description due to its size because it exceeds the limit for some airlines (wizzair through which i will be booking a flight with - 40Hx30Wx20D cm). did you need to purchased the additional space?
