I don't need a daily bag so I keep mine at home but there are cases where I'll take at least one with me (Hitchhiker's Guide says you should always know where your towel is after all), and it was extremely useful because I was at a festival-type thing and the time came to sit on the ground for a bit and I used the towel as a blanket

I'd kinda hoped originally to order during the sweepstake event and try my luck for an ROG Xbox Ally X but ultimately I didn't; kinda glad because I wouldn' have got the black and gold items otherwise

It’s built amazingly well.

It doesn’t work well for me for travel.

First, I find that the laptop side has a ton of volume that I can’t effectively fill. I’d love to keep my Canon R6 in that side of the bag, but it’s too thick. I usually end up just popping my Bose headphones into that side of the bag and nothing else.

Second, I really really wish it had the luggage handle sleeve that the commuter does. Especially when also have a carry on item, which because of the R6m2 i always do.

I found that for travel days, the Commuter bag + a camera bag is the right option for me.

For daily use? Especially when I used to work in the field, I love the full-size bag.

If you mean the original backpack, I love mine. I think my only disappointment is that originally they said it would hold its shape in a way that keeps it standing up, but they had to remove that once it was clear after a while some people's units wouldn't. If I have a bunch of stuff in mine it does stand but if there's less in the main area it will lean a little, but even then it's still standing.

I've worn it for hours without issue, and when I went away a couple of years ago I used it for its original design purpose: a tech holdall. Held my laptop and its charger, a tablet, my Steam Deck, my Pixel Stand 2, my DSLR bag, battery recharger, device chargers, cables, screwdriver, I think my Switch was in there too, all sorts and it didn't bat a proverbial eye. Packed a lot in there, no sign of strain, it was comfortable to carry. It was probably heavy but I didn't weigh it and it wasn't a heaviness that bothered me

Totally the sort of bag I would've loved to have at school but also not the sort of bag I would've afforded back then either

Welp, I messed up.

I got one of those $50 mastercard giftcards for my birthday, and unfortunately LTT store is like every other online retailers where they don't let you divide up the payment sources at checkout

So I used it for a $50 gifcard on LTTstore itself, which worked

But all the things I wanted are all sold out.

If I could have just used the mastercard to partially pay, i would have known that I couldn't have bought anything I wanted and now I got an LTT giftcard that I can't use for the current sales cause I don't want any of the other things there.

The split in the stores only happened somewhat recently when all the tariff madness happened. If you're outside of the states you would almost certainly want to use the global store anyway since the main difference is US prices are higher than global ones.

it's fine for day-to-day, but if I needed any more storage I'd probably use the bigger one; that's what my husband uses.

Absolutely normal, depending on how many orders LTTStore got, AND how busy the courier is during the same timeframe. Back when Canada Post workers were striking and tarrifs were just starting, couriers (UPS, FedEx, etc.) in some areas were so overwhelmed they literally didn't have warehouse space to pickup shipments for weeks.

Items would not be physically picked up by the courier despite a label being created 1-3 weeks prior.

Anything that gets double paid they'll generally refund, but you'll need to look carefully at what you're paying in each case. Sometimes stuff like vat gets double charged (which is often mistakenly collected a second time by couriers), but sometimes theres just extra fees that werent collected at check out. Its a lil messy since people all along the chain disagree on who is supposed to be collecting it and no one wants to be on the hook if they were supposed to but didnt.

I believe the threshold is £135 before there are taxs and stuff, but i believe thats "full price" so even if you get a good deal etc, it can still be listed as more than that on the package.
that being said, I've had an order over £135 from LTT that never got any fees, but the one containing my backpack did.

if its just a screwdriver you should be OK. Worst case it'll be cheap. On a WAN backpack + K70 keyboard (free, but still stated value in the package) AND a stubby, my import fees were £4 + £12 Parcelforce handling fee. The rest was VAT, which I got refunded (although not all of it, because i paid VAT on the keyboard, which i was free from LTT so I didnt pay vat to LTT if that makes sense?)

I paid 82CAD in VAT on checkout, which later got refunded, but obviously ended up paying the £74.55, so I ended up £35 more on VAT. I assume it is because I paid VAT on the keyboard too despite it being free (it had a declared value on the package) that doesn't account for all of it, but I suspect the rest was just shitty conversion fees and them judging it to be more.

I had a similar thing happen regarding UPS brokerage fees with my Mimic Dice kickstarter order. They didn't declare the value wrong... they just didn't do any of the required paperwork (like, none at all) for a small handful of orders, even though shipping, taxes (calculated based on my address), and import duties were listed as part of the Kickstarter reward level. UPS then hit me with a $55 CAD import fee, comprised of $17 in taxes based on the listed value of the dice I bought, and $38 as their brokerage fee for having to fill out the paperwork themselves.

Had my invoice not included "shipping, taxes, and import duties" (which means the seller should be handling the import paperwork) I would have happily paid. Luckily, the Mimic Dice folks admitted they missed paperwork for some packages, told me to pay UPS, then they would reimburse the taxes. Just the taxes. I said "wait hold up, that means I'm still out $38 CAD in brokerage fees that I would not have to pay had you filed the paperwork properly. I don't want to refuse delivery then have you re-send it (because you and I both know that will cost you way more) so what can we do here?" They agreed and refunded me the entire UPS fees. 🤷

Please keep in mind this was a continental shipment from USA to Canada, where, in my experience, the import / export and customs paperwork process has less red tape than shipping elsewhere. I'm not privy to how postal / mail / courier and import / export customs systems work in other countries. If contacting the government to file the right paperwork is as "fast" (it's anything but fast) as it is here in Canada... Ripperoni to any small business that wants to ship things between country's.

In Canada, if I wanted to try self-clearing (prove I already paid import duties and taxes) to avoid paying UPS's brokerage fee, I would have to call UPS (or email their special import fees address and hope they provide the correct self-declaration import form), print it (yes, print, in 2025), then physically visit one of a select handful of government offices authorized to handle such paperwork (yes, physically visit, in 2025), then fax the paperwork back to UPS (yes, fax, in 2025) and hope they accept it. I probably should have been more detailed, so I apologize.

But more or less, ASICS dominate when the work is static, that is, it never changes. The same workload, forever. Custom silicon always wins in efficiency.

Most machine learning cards are more so accelerators instead of ASICS. They're still programmable, but are made for a class of computations rather than just SHA256 or something.

I used ASIC as a "blanket, catch all term," which was a poor choice of words lol

architecturally, a GPU is an accelerator. Just that it's more or less a parallel accelerator for math heavy loads, which is why it's useful for stuff like AI.

You can also have something like a TPU, which is for linear algebra, or an NPU Which some laptops have now, for neural acceleration.

In mixed signal system design, we often take a ton of stuff like that and put it into one package.
