LTT does tend to shy away from preorders, 99% of stuff they sell just shows up one day, or is announced that its coming, but doesn't get sold till they have it.. Even the Precision Screwdriver, they have them in hand, so I like many others are wondering what the actual delay is.. Most of the times they do do a pre-order is something they want to see how many to order, or in the case of the scribedriver they sold out of twice in a row and wanted to give everyone a chance to order the third time lol

indigo rover
#

if they had any on hand it was a very small amount.

paper mirage
#

They did actually have them in hand, they sold out in no time.. Linus actually talked about it on the livestream where he was selling them at LMG, and how they were going much faster than they even considered, especially the cases.. they expected I think it was 50% driver sales to also get the case, and they real numbers was >90%..

#

He actually talked lastnight about how they have swung from ordering too much of stuff and taking too long to sell, to now they seem to be ordering too little and its gone in no time and then everyones waiting for more..

Thats a subjective decision, but the best thing I can give you to make an informed decision is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=845HUaWYSQA

Brands: LTT, PB Swiss, Snap On, Wera, GearWrench, Williams, Irwin, Megapro, Milwaukee, Klein Tools, Husky, Lenox, SATA and Black+Decker. lime fossil
#

I wouldn't say it's novelty priced

#

Its priced right in line with other screwdrivers in the market based on usage

cobalt jetty
#

regardless that video helped a lot and i think im going to get it

lime fossil
#

Is it a 1:1 copy of what it's based on?

#

No? Then it's pricing likely will differ

cobalt jetty
#

no it’s not that’s why i said based off of. but ur right the price isn’t really novelty but it’s still 46$ more than the megapro but i think im going to get it.

paper mirage
#

Ya its not novelty priced, but is it priced at a point where either the added features matter to you, or the name.

#

And a lot of people its gonna be the second, even if the claim the first..

#

Of course I own one, no regrets, it'll likely last me a lifetime which makes the price compleatly reasonable, but I don't use it enough that I can honestly say the extra smoothness on the ratchet and such is really justified..

hollow pewter
#

while mega pro is good

#

their price on canada amzn is pretty insane

#

oh nvm

#

their price dropped back to normal

#

it was 70 cad for a couple of months

#

that vs ltt about 90 cad id say ltt is very much worth it

#

as current price megapro does give you a lot for what it costs

#

note: megapro stores 12 full size bits in shank

#

which does make it noticebly heavier

#

and most weight are at tail end

#

ergonomics is still pretty good tho imo

Im pretty sad about the precision screwdriver though

was hoping to have them in hand in time for an event thats happening at the new estimated ship date

LTT customer service pointed me to discord to see if anyone has a suggestion to this issue with the backpack luggage strap so here it goes:

I travel quite a bit for work and have loved the backpack for my last few trips since receiving it but I was wondering if there is a possibility of purchasing something a bit sturdier for the luggage slip? The Velcro comes off every single time when I slip it onto my luggage.
I'd be more than happy to purchase a stronger slip secured by buttons/snaps/zipper or do you have a suggestion of something I could purchase third party that might work? Coming from a Briggs and Riley bag and this is my only dislike of the backpack.

Well, small update on my thoughts on the offsite bag. Don't use a surface book in it. The pressure from having a few pockets in the load out was enough to Crack the glass on my display. Haven't had an issue eith other laptops but yeah...bummer

#

I don't even have that much in it but it's still so much pressure to put on anything other than a slim laptop

lime fossil
#

#

lime valley
#

So, the solution to use a $100 laptop bag if you wish to be able to chaege your devices is to purchase a 3rd party power adapter for another $50?

lime fossil
#

ends up fairly comprable to my business card holder

#

thats just the one I use personally as its convenient and affordable for the task

lime valley
#

I understand your point, however can we agree that a $100 laptop bag that does not have the capacity to carry even a slimline travel adapter is flawed? And if the charger is the reason my display cracked, that makes it even more aggregious.

Flawed isn't the word I'd use - different bags are designed for different use-cases. I do agree it's frustrating to need a separate place to carry power adapters / other items OR have to purchase a slimmer adapter, but this issue is far from unique to the Offsite bag. Back when I worked electronics retail 15+ years ago I warned people about storing too much too close to the laptop compartment in $150-$300 "travel" backpacks. Many people thanked me for the warning; a few people were livid their device broke because of how tightly they packed it.

lime valley
viscid shell
# lime valley I'd agree to that, but honestly even just having a few usbc/lightning cables fee...

The way a cable is wrapped / bound up also makes a huge difference. If it's wrapped in such a way that it forms a cylindrical tube (like a pack of Lifesavers candy) it's going to create a lot of pressure, whereas if it's loosely coiled so as to be slimmer (less thick) but wider (horizontally) it won't put as much pressure on other devices in the bag. Tis how I pack an HDMI cable beside my laptop - loosely wrapped to reduce the pressure.

lime valley
#

I love my LTT backpack. And the offsite bag is the same great quality. I just feel it's suffering from an identity crisis. Where the backpack was meticulously crafted, the offsite had a everything in the kitchen sink approach, but the depth was missed along the way. This makes everything else in the design a mute point.

#

Like, I purchased it fully knowing it was a scaled back load out. But man, I wasn't expecting to hardly be able to use it as a stand alone bag.

Honestly, it's impossible to not overstuff it. It's very limited in what it can actually hold. Let's say you use pouch on one side, you absolutely cannot use the pouch on the other side of the flap. If you use the storage compartment AND have a laptop in the bag, you will be hard pressed to fit anything into the front zipper compartment. My slim wallet is a stretch to put in there. between the 15 pouches and 6 sleeves I'd say that maybe less than half can be utilized at any given time. The quality is absolutely solid, but it's just not practical as a standalone bag. It's a stretch to even say it can replace my tech pouch in my backpack.

Are you a mod of some sort somwhere such that that code would apply to you? Honey (and probably similar tools) has a tendency to spot and grab codes that only apply to a subset of people (e.g. mods or ltx goers), which is why you need to be logged in with an email associated with those things to use the code. There are very rarely general use non-expiring discount counts, and when there is they're usually plastered on the site or newsletter or wan show, so if something applied to you, you'd probably know about it.

Ditto. I recently ordered the "Anker GanPrime 65W Charging Station" from Amazon for travel purposes. It arrived with a hairline crack running through the shiny acrylic top cover, likely because they ship it with the cord plugged into itself to create infinite power to take up less space.

  • Could I have asked Anker or Amazon for a replacement? Sure.
  • Is it worth my time? Not at all.
  • Does the hairline crack in the shiny acrylic portion affect the functionality? Nope.
  • Is the shiny acrylic part going to get scuffed over time with use? You bet your ass it will, damn manufacturers using stupid materials in their products.
viscid shell
cold leaf

It comes down to why you bought the product in the first place. Is it because you have a functional need that needs fulfilling? Sure a tiny crack might not sway you. But if I just wanted a screwdriver I could have bought any screwdriver for 1/5th the price, but I bought the LTT screwdriver because I wanted a 'premium' screwdriver, and as a token of support for the channel. It isnt solely because I have a screw that wont budge. In my case, its not a dealbreaker, but it isnt what I paid full price for.

If it was my screwdriver or backpack then yeah I'd be pissed

My fav feature of the backpack was the double layer protection on the bottom, cause it shows they have a mindset of durability. I was sad when it was produced without it, but I'll probably never wear through it anyways

If it's the same "water resistant" style of zippers found on the Short Circut hoodie, you could try https://www.gearaid.com/collections/aquaseal adhesives. They're what people use to repair wetsuits, tent seams, and shoe soles that are separating.

what misleading about the delay emails? They knew they wouldnt be able to reach the original shipping estimate, so they notified people who were effected with a new estimate. Seems reasonable to me

the problem isn’t informing those who should’ve been informed, it’s informing those who shouldn’t have been

foggy sonnet
#

That’s exactly my thinking, outages are (hopefully) temporary, and if they’re long enough that I can’t get enough to eat, even from family/friends, we’ve got much much bigger problems

If I lose a hard drive and don’t have a backup, that’s gone forever (potentially)

#

I’ve had good luck and saved most of the drives I’ve ever had that failed

Definitely does not fit under my airplane seat easily 😂

Also the luggage strap is fiddly

But overall still happy

It was delta and mostly the front pocket thingy

And then the whole bag sticks out from under the seat a bit but that’s expected

My most recent flights were Delta but 2 were on flown by WestJet (737-700s) and 2 were Delta CRJ-900s

I was expecting issues on the CRJ because it’s smaller but it fit no problem

By my counting its 28 notches. Which doesnt seem that high? Lots of them tout 72 teeth

# cold field Do not buy a "racing" gaming chair... buy an ergonomic desk chair.

Honestly going from gaming racing chairs to a herman miller embody has changed nothing for me. The embody has better materials and isn't falling apart, but ergonomics?... I actually hurt my back last week after 2 years of using the embody, never did in 6 years or something of using a dx racer. But obviously the chair has nothing at all to do with it. Gaming chairs are overpriced for the materials, but all this talk of ergonomics leaves me baffled.

cold field
#

That is a very naive take. If you sit in a good posture in an ergonomic chair your back will be much better in the long term compared to sitting in a good posture in a racing chair.... You hurting your back while not sitting in the chair has nothing to do with it. That has to do with stretching, keeping your muscles strong, and lifting things in a good way.

Just got some short bits from Aliexpress to complete my loadout. Now need to figure out which ones are going in.

cold leaf
#

They seem to be good quality, we'll see how they hold up. They're both S2 steel with black phosphate coating. Got rid of the LTT squares (never seen a square bolt in my life) and a couple of the slotted bits. Filled up the upper carousel with hex bits, and threw in a couple of T9 and T5 bits which match my laptop.

#

So much cheaper than getting them from lttstore.com only £10 for the Ali set.

#

and they fit perfectly in the screwdriver

Didnt Linus state in WAN show or something about a future European distributor?

peak halo

#

I'm very far behind on WAN show now, but last I heard re: EU distributor was essentially: Ultra long term, probably. Any time in the forseeable future, extremely unlikely. Significant overhead costs and accounting nightmares from having an international physical presence, plus QA concerns without Linus being able to directly oversee things, plus inventory management headaches, all amounting to EU pricing needing to be notably higher. The net outcome would be EU customers would be paying basically the same amount as they are currently (albeit with much more efficient shipping times and less customs headaches) since instead of (normal base price+high shipping+customs) it'd be (higher base+low shipping). Extra work+minimal financial benefit for anyone involved make it a no go.

It's not never, and if they continue to scale and scale it eventually might make sense, but they're still very small in the grand scheme of things, so can't just absorb the extra costs like an amazon can.

Quick question. Mystery bottles also use Spout v2 correct? On WAN show Linus said all water bottles sold on lttstore will now have Spout v2, but product page doesn’t mention it explicitly

#

This may include any overstock of any previous colors/designs, as well as bottles that use the V1 Spout Lid

Nvm this is clear enough I guess. Would be fine if it’s all v2 tho

onyx drum
#

This is kinda just a suggestion idk if they are allowed but could LTT ever make a impact/installation driver that's battery compatible with one of the large brands 12V platforms and has a installation driver mode like DeWalt/Craftsman have rn (video attached shows what it does basically it's for machine thread screws and cuts off when there's resistance to stop from overtorquing)
I think a new battery platform is dumb but companies like Klein already run their 20V tools on the DeWalt battery for example

#

Having a installation driver in 12V would deadass be awesome for tech stuff

very good point. Its very good to remember that in most cases, adding something to your cart doesnt mean you are commiting to buying it. Sometimes that is the best (or only) way to get useful information. Just be a little more careful at reading buttons if its a site that already has your payment info saved (ive accidently bought things on amazon because sometimes there is a "buy now" button in the same place as the add to cart button lol)
