I think everyone has their own priorities. I also think that when you start wanting more and more from a bookbag than exists, but also want the price to stay the same or be lower, when it already offers more than other bags on the market for the same price... It's okay to want more, but you're probably going to have to pay a lot more for it. Honestly, I don't see anything about the $400 backpack that would improve upon anything the LTT one has.

I think at a point you have to realize that Linus built the backpack based on what he wanted and if someone else wants something different that isn't available, they need to look at another brand or build their own.

Yes, and that's fine. I also said that if you want a proper review, you need to reach out to the EDC groups themselves to ask LTT about a backpack. I gave examples of how you could get more info. I wrote an entire paragraph about how my issue is how LTT is being put on a pedestal when nobody ever seemed to want as much info about other backpacks that only ever offered a few pictures, whereas LTT offered a damn video, hands on popup shop, and more.

I never steered the conversation to, "Everyone should just be happy and never investigate anything, etc tec."

It's fine that people want more info from LTT, but I just want it known that it feels like there's a lot of hypocrisy. Be it the backpack, the warranty, etc.

1. It's a tech youtuber designed bag, easily could have massive problems with it,
2. It's a tech community, we would never buy a graphics card without overwhelming info of how good it is. Goes the exact same way with the bag.

i guess 3. People buying these bags have never bought such an expensive bag before, and weren't planning on it. They want to get something good for their money

Overengineering has always felt more conceptual or philosophical in nature. What appears over-engineered to one person may be revelatory to another. a curved piece of plastic with magnets that can help with cable management is cool. Having it be strong enough to hold up a power strip and allow cable to be removed means you need to find a sweet spot.

I think they are taking "over engineered" to be a bad thing. I think the products LTT is making HAVE to be over engineered for their to be a reason for them to be made. Linus has said numerous times half the items they have done so far outside of like shirts and what not is because he had "minor gripes" about existing products. The only way to fix those gripes is to over engineer something.

Even in the Making of the screwdriver video he said point blank they could have just rebranded a megapro but didn't because they wanted specific changes (EI "Over engineering").

All of the carabiners, both zipper pulls and the one on the side feel good. Very strong springs, doesn't get stuck open

I really like my PeakDesigns bag, but most of the time, there's no need for all the dividers that fill the main compartment.

I know I could take them out, but most of the time, I just go with a work-swag backpack for a laptop day bag. I could definitely see this one taking that slot.

Even jay went out of his way to point out that his fell in a very unlikely way. Linus did a drop test from 3x as high on solid unpadded concreate and didn't get a snap off. Acting like this means it's going to be super fragile seems really disingenuous when even Jay felt it was highly unlikely and required falling on a tiny zone.

Kyle and his people have been testing from a ton of different heights and been unable to replicate, with the leading theory currently just being a one off flaw in the molding of that particular screwdriver.

A laptop is probably the middle ground between using the LTT driver and say an ifixit driver. The scenario they both work with. It does depend on screw size. Anything smaller than a standard laptop is best left up to the ifixit

It's insulation is not nearly as good as the original lid.

I live in a humid area, and i put iced water in the bottle

The condensation is wild.

And it only accumulates on the cap.

My ice also melts a bit faster than it did before, so the new cap does in fact make the bottle's insulation less effective.
