I’m just waiting to find out this LTT sponsorship too. Wondering if they get a creator driver.

#

And betting 99% it’s Hacksmith

#

Considering their builds and what Linus said, sponsorships for them do cost a lot yet

rose spade
#

Even if it's just for the durability test, p. sure that if he doesn't get sent a creator edition one, that he'll buy one to test xD
Then again, it's not a phone, so I dunno

hushed sonnet
#

Unsure if he’d make anything more than a short for the screwdriver. He is a phone guy

#

I’d like to see one go to mrwhosetheboss, however I feel he wouldn’t have much use. Doesn’t really focus on anything per teardowns, just phone tech

#

So I doubt he’d be getting one

rose spade
#

P. sure one of the red ones goes to MKBHD (I don't think anyone has a doubt 'bout that)

hushed sonnet
#

Hacksmiths colors are also black/white aren’t they? If they were the sponsorship could also make sense

tribal meteor
# blazing wave Wonder how much each of those cost to produce lol

The same as the regular screwdriver, the only thing they had to do differently was run the endcap and ring molds with a different color plastic, they didn't show those molds in the screwdriver video so it is possible that they couldn't have made just 1x of each color as the molds are likely multiple (The screwdriver handle mold itself is two). So outside of the cost of any of the specific colored plastic the only increased cost really would be the labor to swap out the plastics after only doing 1 round of each color.

blazing wave
rose spade
#

It's be pretty cool of them if they started offering more colors once they're through the initial release run, and they can start having screwdrivers in stock, ready to ship out

I don't think they were planning on selling the other colors?

Just wanted to share some thoughts and pics of my backpack I got yesterday. My order was one that sat from "Parcel Departed Terminal" on 08/31 until UPS started updating on 09/06 "Origin Scan" in Redmond, WA and I got it yesterday 09/08 in California.

The only quality issue I could see is the chest strap had some marks or dirt on it right in the middle. Box was sealed and it was still wrapped in plastic so not sure how that happened. I emailed support to make them aware but its not urgent since I don't plan to use it anyway. Hopefully when they have some spares I can just replace that part since it is removeable.

One design issue that doesn't make sense is that pens / pencils bottom out before they hang by their clip on the very front pocket. Can see the same thing on the product pictures as well.

Not an issue with the backpack but the 2 battery banks I have fit perfectly in the pockets, but are too big to plug in a cable and use the passthrough.

Its pretty big. I have a flight next week and will see if it fits under the seat in front of me on Southwest. After traveling I'll post a review on the store page.

My box said 8198 of 9700. Pics: https://imgur.com/a/Umz7j7H

LTT watching the Project Farms video: "Yea, Project Farms. Yea, science!"

#

If you didn't get that I'm disappointed in you

quartz comet
#

Does anyone know if iFixIt bits will fit in the LTT Screwdriver? I believe they are 1/4" bits but include an adapter for 4mm if that's needed. I know that 12 wouldn't fit inside of the screwdriver but I just want to know. I was thinking about just getting the iFixIt Pro Tech Toolkit rather than the LTT Screwdriver (for just $5 more), but I believe I want to get the LTT Screwdriver with the Mako Driver Kit.

#

The one thing making me think about not getting the LTT Screwdriver is the long waitlist for wave 6 by now (and I likely can't order for a little while) so I might not even get it until next year...

#

However, it literally looks like the most perfect screwdriver.

hushed sonnet
#

What are you trying to fix

#

The LTT driver is not a precision driver. It’s a ratcheting driver

chilly tartan
#

You can use the adapter

#

But you probably don't want to

hushed sonnet
#

If you’re fixing something that needs precision bits, go with ifixit

chilly tartan
#

The ifixit kit is much more versatile for everything pc and tech

hushed sonnet
#

The screwdriver never should’ve included a Y000 bit

#

It’s about usecase

#

Just like you wouldn’t use an ifixit driver to properly build a PC as it’s tiny. The LTT driver is too huge for precision work

#

Ifixit is for phones. Laptops. Tablets. Maybe controllers and consoles

#

I’d actually use the LTT driver for a Playstation or Xbox

#

That’s where I’d say they might be interchangeable

#

Right around home console size devices

#

As I have repaired consoles with the ifixit in the past but the LTT driver would seem reasonable

chilly tartan
#

While maybe slightly undersized, i have had no issue using the pro tech toolkit screwdriver to build all of my PCs

#

There's only a handful of actually large screws that i feel like the LTT would be good for like case screws

worthy prawn
#

My backpack just arrived and I think it has a defect. One of the main straps connecting to the bottom of the bag (the adjustable part) is not fully looped through

#

The thick part at the end that prevents the adjustability from coming completely loose isn’t actually thread in

#

And because it’s the thick part I can’t exactly just push it through

chilly tartan
#

pic?

worthy prawn
#

How it’s meant to be:

#

chilly tartan
#

oh thats weird

worthy prawn
#

I can’t just stick the thick part back through

chilly tartan
#

Right that'd be tough its twiple wide

#

wow thats a massive fuckup

#

What was the argument for why they use aluminum strap thingies

#

I've never heard of one breaking before

molten prawn
#

They're strong asf.

#

I don't think the one in the photo broke, I think the strap managed to end up out of the buckle and doesn't fit back in.

quartz comet
#

The problem is that I'd possibly want to do all kinds of repair, as in having a catch-all screwdriver without breaking the bank.

chilly tartan
#

i know his strap isnt broken

quartz comet
#

The main thing I'd need a screwdriver for is my space heater gaming laptop, but other use cases could be possible.

#

No it literally is a space heater lmfao

chilly tartan
#

but I feel like the only thing metal straps would do is marr up the straps quicker

#

i have no idea though i will have to see when i get mine

quartz comet
#

So, moral of the story, should I just stick with the iFixIt Pro Tech Toolkit?

molten prawn
#

I don't know for fact, but I'd assume it won't be too bad for the strap. They're certainly stronger than the typical cheap plastic buckle, which is a plus.

chilly tartan
#

buckle thats what theyre called

quartz comet
#

Then I get everything else as well, like the cool suction cup thingy and jimmy

molten prawn
#

If you need precision drivers just get the ifixit kit.

quartz comet
#

I don't exactly know what I need.

#

I mean, I take off the screws on the bottom of the PC and pry off the case, and then sometimes I take off the little screws for the fans/heatsink to access the CPU/GPU (have done this before for thermal paste replacement (yes it was still a space heater afterwards))

chilly tartan
#

you dont need 70 dollars of anything just to take the screws off ur pc door

quartz comet
#

Ik, but it just seems nice in case I want to do other repairs.

chilly tartan
#

But I would say the IFIXIT then

quartz comet
#

Maybe replacing my phone battery with the max capacity of like 73% KEKW

chilly tartan
#

theres no way you'd want to use the ltt driver for replacing a gpu cooler

#

and a phone, ifixit as well

quartz comet
#

Not replacing that

#

Just the thermal paste

#

Lol I'm going overkill, aren't I?

#

That's good, though, just like the LTT Router

chilly tartan
#

yeah thats too much

molten prawn
quartz comet
#

I see.

molten prawn
#

That also applies to the insides (and sometimes outer shell) of laptops.

quartz comet
#

Here is a screw that was in my gaming laptop

#

It's not anymore due to the fact that the hole screw holder thing came off of my laptop's motherboard, idk why

molten prawn
#

I'd just think of a the LTT driver as more for household standard sized screws (pc thumbscrew category of screws), and go with an ifixit or other precision set if you're going mainly for smaller electronic screws. You'll need to have both at some point, but where you allocate budget depends on your own day to day.

quartz comet
#

Okay.

#

I do have a household screwdriver somewhere for a flathead and probably a philips.

#

Therefore, I might just want to get the iFixIt one.

#

Getting the Pro Tech Toolkit seems like the right move to me, however, as I can then get a lot more than a screwdriver and some bits.

Brands: LTT, PB Swiss, Snap On, Wera, GearWrench, Williams, Irwin, Megapro, Milwaukee, Klein Tools, Husky, Lenox, SATA and Black+Decker. Ratcheting screwdrivers compared for efficiency, precision, and durability. Tests include working arc swing, ratchet back drag, magnet strength, bit retention strength, build quality (shaft wobble), shaft rota...

It's a good ratcheting screwdriver, competitive with the luxury brands, and carrying a moderate merch tax

#

Unless you want to support the channel, you might regret how much you spent on it, but you shouldn't regret having it in your toolbox

chilly tartan
#

Thats a good way to put it

stable ridge
#

With light use I don’t see why I’d need another driver for a very long time.

#

That’s most of my justification

plain fern
#

It'll probably take him at least 3 more years to release a v2 anyways

peak smelt
#

Even with heavy use it should still hold up well, based on the PF rankings it and the PB Swiss were decently clear of 'the rest' and if the locked rachet play worries you then just use a fixed handle driver.

chilly tartan
#

Okay but I honestly think if im not bashing it against stuff that an amazon basics ratchet would also last 3 years

#

but I have no desire to use a ratcheting driver, so i really got no clue at all

plain fern
#

And it's perfectly fine to not be the target market

#

Just means you'll have more money to throw at cable ties and magnetic cable tiedowns soontm

hushed sonnet
#

I would find it interesting if they could do a general fixed driver, but with bit changing and an extra long shaft

plain fern
#

I think there would be a very limited market for that, especially in PC building enthusiasts

chrome night
plain fern
#

They'd be competing more directly with ifixit, and as long as there are interchangeable bits, it wont be great for tight fit locations like the shielded pcie bracket screws

peak smelt
plain fern
#

For a fixed driver, personally, I'd probably buy the GN kit instead if supporting the industry, or wiha / wera / etc.

hushed sonnet
#

No I’m thinking like foot long shaft

Extra long shaft drivers exist

#

I’ve got a few at work I use

plain fern

I got a hazard fraught set I use

#

It's great for deep things

hushed sonnet
#

Something I’d rather have than independent long drivers

#

A single long shaft

hushed sonnet
#

Yes. That requires me to carry multiple drivers if they’ve got different heads

#

The point of having interchangeable bits is to avoid that

plain fern
#

I'm curious though. Why would you want that to be a fixed shaft?

#

Vs a ratcheting mechanism with a long shaft, and just dealing with a bit of slop, but having more options in a single tool

Just placed my first LTTStore order, driver, bits, 40oz and a mystery 21oz bottle. I wasn't expecting the extra taxes on top but hey, it'll be worth it. Now to wait for shipping over to here in the UK

As a tech enthusiast I had to get both the Backpack and the Screwdriver asap. The additional cost for shipping do Germany did surprise me a bit at first, but after Linus explained it I totally understood the reason and want to support his enterprise even more.

#

Recently I was looking into storage gear for working out. I wondered how people normally wear their smartphone, battery bank and cables when movement or location does not allow for a backpack or carrying belt around the waist. I bought several crappy upper arm contraptions for holding a smartphone, but they all failed to impress me in both comfort and build quality. On amazon there where mostly cheap imports. The most expensive one I could get was just as uncomfortable to wear. I wonder if more people would have a use for such a carrying contraption.

little hemlock
#

The only gear I carry when I work out is my phone and earbuds, sometimes a water bottle. I either use a small runner's backpack, or a pocket in my shorts / runner's leggings if it's just the phone

eager charm
#

Since I am using a mobile router to get get internet on the go I normally have my smartphone, earbuds, router and a powerbank on me. While the powerbank is optional in the fitness studio, I still need a place to stuff 2 smartphone sized items when working out on a bench - cant use a waistbelt or rucksack for that. My last test included was using 2 belts for my left and right upper arm, but as I said, those bags are really not made to be worn comfortably for several hours. The straps were just basic cheap holding straps with cheap plastic holding them together. I would really like to find something more durable and comfortable to wear while training.

still junco
#

What about a powerbank that you can put rechargeable batteries in it, like you'd put AAA.
And as for the connections, what about a modular design for the power output, if you need usb-c or something new comes up, you'd just slide the usb-c out, and put the other output in?

#

Also would LOVE to see an LTT Computer Case. Something nice, affordable and GOOD like the bequiet pure base 500dx.

But in this is basically every current standard cable variant, a ton of flash drives, some adapters, an Anker 30w slim wall charger, and a Sandisk portable SSD, with the pocket on the back able to fit any variation of ipad mini along with their smart cover

I can't find the BUBM one as I probably threw it away, but I think one of the failures was the zipper wasn't sewn underneath the cloth at the end so the zipper fell off immediately

#

Then went to sleep and got up at 5am wave 1 was gone

Your order # = your spot in line.

#

That's how it works.

#

I don't know what mindset you're in to think differently

#

I was within the top 300 people to place my order. So I got mine from the first container.

peak halo

And yet I didn’t

Jc is 328### and hasn't had his shipped but the one on the twitter link he just shared is 329200

That's why I'm in a mindset to think differently

Mines alittle higher than the guy so I get why he got his before me, but it's more JC I'm thinking of

candid fern

Does he have a label created but not shipped?

When you're filling orders especially international it often makes sense to work on a target country or region at a time for various reasons

#

Such as justfillin out all the customs forms correctly etc

candid fern
#

Even region is funky.
I was order #3xx
My friend who lives less than 10 miles away from me was order #6xx

I got my bag a full week before him.

vivid stirrup
peak halo
#

Backpacks shipping separately in their own box suggests they’re just slapping new labels on them as they come in (ETA regardless of where they’re shipping to)

lime fossil

Rather that jumping back and forth order to America order to Germany order to Madagascar order to New Zealand another to America oh one to japan

peak halo
lime fossil

Just a cluster frick of ordering

serene cargo

It might be that address changes or other adjustments might affect order number without affecting order in queue. I'm just speculating.

I think you guys severely underestimate the amount of time it takes to create labels and ship 1500 backpacks.

It takes a month to get to me

candid fern

The website also says SHIPPED BY September 20th. Which means you're not getting it by that day, they're just estimating that it will leave their hands by that day

candid fern
#

It's also an estimate. And Nick Light has said that there are delays

vivid stirrup
#

I don't expect it to ship immediately after buying it expecting a wait

#

I just don't know how I go from ordering with 8800 left to being 6700 or less in the list

peak halo
#

There are timescales in play for two of my orders 😞

vivid stirrup
#

Cuz I watched it drop from 8000 to 4000

vivid stirrup
candid fern
#

Bc people were sitting and waiting...
For screwdriver I ordered within the first 5 minutes. I'm in the 3000s
I placed a second order to buy a screwdriver and ship it directly to my friend's house as a gift. It was less than 5 minutes after my first order. That order is in the 6000s.

I don't know how I was order 18000 for the Playdate and I'm still in Wave 5 of receiving my playdate sometime before the Sun burns out

peak halo

I can wait for the screwdriver but not for the backpack

vivid stirrup
#

So if I'm not in the next 1500 I don't get the ordering system if someone with 329200 shipped and mine 3296## hasn't

regarding backpack size, I use a Precision 5750 (17" screen) for work and it fits fine so it's definitely both a combination of screen size and thickness for compatibility

#

So some people have received their order in Germany? I’m curious if we ran a poll for all German orders in wave one how many would say theirs has shipped

#

If anyone who’s from the UK has had theirs shipped

vivid stirrup
#

Dis is true

#

Why don't they put frankfurters in the packages,

hushed sonnet
#

Yes. But even so. Pallets sticking together going to individual countries from there makes sense in logistics rather than splitting pallets up

vivid stirrup
#

This is true aswell even though I don't want it to be

lime fossil
#

Would highly highly recommend folks not think of shipping like a line at a store

hushed sonnet
#

“This pallet goes to the UK” instead of “let’s find each package that goes to each country on the pallet and split them up.”

lime fossil
#

If you bought yours first yes it's higher on the list but that doesn't mean 100 people behind you aren't gonna get served first

#

Just like how just because you were seated first at a restaurant doesn't mean you'll get your food before another table

hushed sonnet
#

I can only Imagine they’re really trying their darndest to do shipping as efficiently as possible with such large volume packages

vivid stirrup
#

Oh I don't think it's a line at a store that's why the order numbers being shipped is out of order

#

But I ordered early hours of the day

#

So if mines shipped with wave 2 uk orders what would be the point ;-;

hushed sonnet
vivid stirrup
#

Also I'm very patient and I understand that canadas port is FUBARED

hushed sonnet
#

It’s about efficient pallet space. Once you’ve got multiple pallets going on, you don’t need to worry about them as whole pallets will generally be separated regardless

vivid stirrup
#

I get it, just hate it

peak halo
#

I’m just very, very worried

vivid stirrup
#

That's not actually true

peak halo
#

If it ships much later than the original estimate I won’t be there to receive it

vivid stirrup
#

I've had a parcel that was a ghost once and cost me £100, the store wouldn't replace a package they "shipped" the delivery person said he never delivered a parcel for me, and PayPal wouldn't refund it cuz they claimed it was lost in shipping or something so not the companies fault

#

(Then a few month later the website I ordered off disappeared)

serene cargo
#

What's shipping cost for a ghost?

#

a 100?

vivid stirrup
#

Never got an answer, they stopped replying to me after awhile

chilly tartan
#

So I guess

#

my understanding is that the expectation was that the first 1500, then 3000, etc would get shipped, but this euro guy was in the top 3k and it didn't get shipped?

vivid stirrup
#

But yeah only time it's ever happened so yaknow

chilly tartan
#

I think so

#

so he was left out assuming he really was top 3k lmao

#

that blows

#

Do we know how many are in the port?

hushed sonnet
#

Probably all of wave 1

chilly tartan
#

Even if they were all unloaded right now, I doubt it

#

Since im wave 2, im mostly concerned with that

hushed sonnet
#

I assume it was all one one vessel. The issue is different containers

chilly tartan
#

Are the delays purely because of the port?

hushed sonnet
#

I assume wave 2 is shipping on a separate vessel

#

The waves are manufacturing waves, hence a wave being shipped on one vessel

chilly tartan
#

Right so

hushed sonnet
#

The issue is going through different pallets

chilly tartan
#

It sounds like every wave is going to be severely impacted

hushed sonnet
#

Sorry different containers. Not pallets

chilly tartan
#

But at the same time its not like a wave 1 delay is going to impact wave 2, unless the port stacks up multiple backpack boats at once

hushed sonnet
#

Exactly

#

The delay is individual containers being unloaded or loaded beneath others on the same ship. Unless they are behind on multiple ships

#

It’s a when they get to that container, vs when they get to that ship

#

And I really doubt wave two will start shipping before wave one is complete

chilly tartan
#

Yeah

#

Im just thinking how late wave 2 will be i got no idea

My 3D printed solution to all of the LTT Screwdriver bits arrived. Gotta say, I'm impressed. I've never ordered a 3D printed product before.

i got a tool organizer just like that from dewalt that does half bits and half sockets

@coarse sage can you link it? The only ones I could find actually came with bits and sockets. I'm curious what yours looks like.

Looks like something that came with the sockets and tools, whereas I've been trying to find storage solutions that are universal so I can use what I have, which is what lead me to the 3D print. HOWEVER, I might actually grab one of these you linked just to keep in my car or my bugout bag.

I've had my bag stolen before, but I left it for just ten minutes in a room at a convention. I think it's about as common as any sort of theft.

I was asking cos i wanna know if it falls out

molten prawn
golden path
coarse sage
#

i dont leave my edc bag unattended for a long period of time but ive never once had my 511 bag stolen

inner marsh
#

The airtag pocket thing is tricky. If it is just a loose pocket, tight enough to keep it from falling out if turned upside down also means it's hard to get your fingers in to retrieve it. But if it's too loose, then if you turn it upside down maybe it can slip out. But then again you can always just buy airtag cases/covers and whatnot to thicken it up if need be.

chilly tartan
#

shoulda had a tab of velcro

coarse sage
#

it is cool they thought of some "secret" pocket for it though

molten prawn

Someone had suggested sewing it shut with the tag inside. Idk what you would do when the battery needs to be replaced, but it's an idea.

coarse sage
#

you can replace airtag batteries?

molten prawn
#

You have to. They're not rechargable.

#

Uses like a watch type battery. I think you twist them open.

coarse sage

im just surprised apple lets you replace them and not buy new ones

I was too lmao. Would be a very Apple thing to do.

coarse sage

i use the samsung version of airtags, they are also very nice

chilly tartan

coarse sage
#

yes

chilly tartan
#

thats kinda cool

coarse sage
#

2032 to be specific

chilly tartan
#

But yeah if you look at the video, the airtag just kinda falls in

golden path
#

So, didn’t sit on it but gave it a good hug. I’d say it kept its shape very well. But I wouldn’t sit on it to be honest.

chilly tartan
#

it doesnt look like it has any level of friction to hold it inside if even turns upside down

#

What do you think would happen if you sat on it then, hard creases across the bag?

coarse sage
#

depending on whats in my 511 bag i prob wouldnt sit on it either =\

inner marsh
#

Is it just me or does it seem like people are wanting more features from the LTT Backpack than backpacks made by Booq, Nomatic, and others, that cost 300 to 400 and have less features and look worse inside?

chilly tartan
#

Like wat

inner marsh
#

I mean, people can talk about whatever they want. I'm just kinda sitting back and watching every day people bringing up stuff about it that I never hear being talked about with these other expensive backpack companies.

#

Which is /fine/

#

I don't mind the talk. I'm not buying a bookbag either way. It just got me looking into bookbags (including some mentioned in this chat) that are similar or even more expensive.

#

i'm more of a messenger bag/map bag kinda guy, honestly. I've had a timbuk2 for like 15 years now.

coarse sage
#

the only thing i wish was done was that linus and team sent a few bags to some big edc review channels. just be interesting to see how the stress test would hold up, compared to "reputable" brands

stable ridge
coarse sage
#

id probably buy a bag if i was in the market for one and risk the "limited warranty". but my 511 bag been going strong for 5 years and no signs of issues

chilly tartan
#

Probably like a lot of other ppl, I didnt do a massive amount of research into other bags. But all other bags ppl recommend looks like they would not fit what i need to

inner marsh
#

I think, like with the screwdriver, the channels reached out to LTT. So I'd contact those EDC channels and inquire with them.

coarse sage
#

yea i wouldnt recommend 511 for a tech savvy edc bag guy

inner marsh
#

And one thing about other bags that cost as much or the same is you just get a little write up and a few pics, whereas LTT did a long video, hands on stuff, etc. Yet people are willing to buy the other backpacks that are 300 to 400 online with even less info. So when I see LTT being held to these super strict and exacting measures (which isn't necessarily /bad/) it just seems kinda weird that it's only with LTT that people are doing it and I never saw people doing such deep dives on any of the EDC subreddits/forums, etc., outside of just a couple questions.

So it just feels like we've gotten far more info from one company, but we want even MORE and yet with other companies it's just been, "Pretty pictures. Here's my money."

#

I guess it's just because LTT is a big youtube channel/group that people are more talkative?

#

i'm not against it, I just think it's bizzare
