I ordered into wave 1 of both screwdriver and backpack but backpack ended up being $300 after taxes and shipping (into US) and screwdriver was just $100 after everything

Honestly, I wasn't expecting to buy a screwdriver today. I was just catching up on Floatplane releases today, and the last Intel Extreme Tech upgrade they had uploaded reminded me that my iFixit screwdriver isn't up to the task for mounting AIO coolers (which I had to do recently). The LTT screwdriver just seemed to be exactly the right thing for what I was looking for and with limited research I couldn't find one for cheaper that also met my criterias...

A ratchet screwdriver, with a grip that is hand sized (not too big, but also not puny), with a decently ergonomic grip, a decent amount of bit storage and one that can last me a long time

The one from Würth looks like it's also a licensed design from Megapro tho (as-in, slide-out bit storage in the back, very similar looking ratchet housing, thicc grip), whereas the Wera... well... you probably have seen how their grip looks. Not particularly ergonomic (I do have held Wera screwdrivers in the past and they weren't my favourite)

They seem like a tool for specific jobs where you hold the handle from a specific angle

I think the idea behind the buldge in the middle of the Wera grip is to kinda mimic the cavity that naturally forms in your palm as you warp it around objects, but I just find the feel of it in the hand is weird, and leads to a preassure spot in the palm (which is not great if you're trying to tighten a screw)

I have great use for the screwdriver with a better magnet on it. So many times in my job now I’ve used my electric screwdriver like a normal one to be precise in unscrewing something to a specific depth. Also the magnet at the end

Even though that’s how most warranties are. Many many people on Reddit did not understand what an actual lifetime warranty is

If it weren’t so public facing it wouldn’t be a big deal. They’ve got better policies internally, but having to put something in writing would mean they’d have to involve lawyers to ensure it’s worded properly. As Linus said, no lawyer would allow them to put what their internal policies were in writing.

Electrical equipment has to have set time frames typically. But solely mechanical has more leeway in terms of lifetime warranty. Electrical equipment wears over time very differently, so I wouldn’t consider the PSU equivalent until they release an electric product

Most electrical product warranties are for specified time frames. However if you don’t use your screwdriver for 8 years, and 11 years down the line something happens, a lifetime warranty on mechanical equipment might still cover that whereas a psu not.

is there a tracking number? those tracking numbers will be for the carrier that is doing the actual transportation

like when i get a wizmo email, it has what ends up being a UPS tracking number in it. I can take that and put it in UPS to see the status there instead

The one thing that might come in handy is the stronger magnet, but it’s certainly not worth shoving an LTT screwdriver trying to use the Y000 bit in an iPhone.

The ratchet would actually make working on small devices worse. The low resistance spinning top of the ifixit driver is a much better tool for electronics work

yeah I wouldnt use ifixit bits with the ltt screwdriver i was just wondering really. I like the shorty bits LTT has but i really wish that LTT had a different box for all the bits they sell. I dont want to buy a bunch of kits with 12 bits in each then have a ton of tiny boxes that i need to carry with me to have all of the bits. I wish they had a box similar to Ifixits mako bit set with a part tray. Im not gonna return my driver over this, it would just be a cool thing to purchase alongside the bits.

You can buy a foam holder for them

Yeah, but you'd still have to buy a bunch of sets, in which many bits are replicated from the one included with the screwdriver. So you end up with a lot of redundant bits. Take the PH3 for example. Just to get that one, you'd have to buy the entire Phillips bit set, in which the PH0, PH1 & PH2 are replicated multiple times. All three of these bits are included in the standard bit set already (and It's not like you'd be breaking bits all the time)

So some sort of case with all the bits not included in the base set (or maybe even every bit they have to offer, I honestly wouldn't mind a spare, but I don't need 4 spares >.>), which also doubles as a durable bit holder would be great

I built mine to specifically fit in an /international/ carry on hard case I gutted out. International restrictions are slightly smaller than domestic. However, that was gutted. I think the backpack probably won't support it unless it's those Velka cases with just an APU.

Just saw that little preview of the magnetic mounts, power management, organizer stuff on the LTT video. I've got a 8x3' desk I had custom made and I currently use pegboard for holding most power stuff in place and /gun magnets/ (4 of them) to keep my external radiator enclosure hanging underneath, etc.

When that line of products is released, I'm going all in. I'm almost as excited about that as I am the screwdriver.

I hate having to cut zipties everytime I want to add or reroute something and velcro ties are too big for the pegboard.

Yeah, it's pricy, but it just means you're not buying a replacement later on. This chair I'm using I bought for $800 refurbished (Aeron) and it lasted 10 years, broke the seatpan, and they replaced the seatpan and repaired the rest of the chair and paid shipping both ways for free.

I used to have to buy an OfficeMax chair once a year due to some random failure with no replacement parts.

That's good. That's not really uncommon to do. Honestly, you seem to have made up your mind about the bookbag and seem to be erring on the negative side of things, which is fine and valid if that's your conclusion.

I think based on what I've seen so far with their willingness to wait for reviews before selling the screwdriver, to hand it off to PF, to send their bags out to durability testing facilities, etc., they stand by their stuff and really go above and beyond when it comes to QA.

I don't really feel the need to worry as much with LTT based on their current track record. If something has a problem, they improve it and they are upfront about the problem and seek to make everyone happy. And I've only ever ordered from them once, so I'm not a repeat customer. This is purely going off what they've presented to the public over the past couple months.

Companies that make bookbags for a living haven't created videos detailing everything as they have, let alone any company that makes screwdrivers.

And that 100% wasn't me saying focusing on the bad was /bad/, as everyone has different critiquing systems. Was just me saying that you seem to have made up your mind based on your own system of review.

same. I went with an external watercooler on my latest sff build. it has quick disconnects and I have a small portable res/pump combo I can use for traveling, but it's reserved for long trips. too much of a hassle. I may swap back to air next time.
