I’m looking t the Anker 511 and it looks close to what I’m wanting. I do like the look of the 521, however if I got that I’d probably carry separately from a bag. Theres these bar shaped power banks I’m looking at which would be nice to sit vertically in a bag and are ideally what I’d like, but most the companies making these I haven’t heard of before.
I mean it has the pass through thing for the power bank

While I was waiting for the backorders to start I looked at other “tech bags” and found for the first time bags with an external USB socket you could wire into an internal power bank of your choice. My first thought was “yeah, that’ll get flooded fast”

I have a very cheap one that has the feature. It isn't useful because cable range most of the time (if it had a way to wind/manage the cable it would be better for wheb it's stationery, on the move it kind of works though.
It points down so is ok waterproofness wise but haven't tried it in the rain xD

What I’m thinking of MOS had this reach thing. It was basically an extension cable. On the end inside the bag you had a single wall power outlet and two USB ports. And then an extension cable leading from that to a side pocket in the bag. You could unzip the side pocket and extend the cable out being something like 6 feet. Meaning you could just extend that out and plug it into the wall, and things could charge while still inside your bag

Linus / Luke should have given each person at the pop up a special code with their purchase, e-mail it with the receipt, that code allows them to leave a review.
Then they lock product reviews for people unless it has been purchased on their account.

That's like leaving a food review for food that you've never tried before.
I think shopify does this with the “verified reviewer” things. If that appears, then shopify confirms that that person bought the product. Anything else is basically a free for all comment

It’s not so much the rain that makes it through the zippers but the general wetness that seeps through the fabric, fingers crossed the double-lining on the bottom holds up

Hi. I'm new here. I really don't want to dig up painful topics, but I thought the screwdriver was supposed to be released this week. Like, they shot a video about what they went through to make it and everything.
I thought it was gonna be released before the backpack.

The screwdriver probably won’t be until another few weeks at least. Linus is planning on doing the same thing he did with backpacks and have a pop up shop. And then give users a chance to review it for a few weeks. If he announced the pop up shop tonight. He would likely wait 2-3 weeks for people to use their screwdriver and share reviews before allowing back orders to be opened
Since he doesn’t want to allow backorders until he has reviews.
I can’t say they’ll make an announcement tonight for sure. They’ve just been saying “soon”. But if they did say anything tonight , it would probably be about 3 weeks before you can order.

That was Wednesday, and now it’s late Friday and my WAN Hoodie has already shipped to the wrong address. I’m really going to have to sort out my email account

does the backpack compress at all? like does it squish up/would it look less bulky if you only used the back pocket for laptop, etc and left the big one empty. like does it easily collapse going under airplane seat etc so its not as bulky.

blinks So was reading the reviews of the back pack and found it very amusing that we already have anonymous reviews posting about the product being shit and broken in shipping and calling Linus and scammer despite the fact that unless they're freaking time travelers or got someone to ship it to them from the pop-up, they can't have gotten the product yet, at which point what, they expect LTT to responsible for shipping by a 3rd party? And to be clear, I think I'm giving these reviews a LOT of benefit of the doubt here...
I know that Merch team are probably against review moderation given the discussions I've seen on the WAN show, but a "I have received a product that was damaged in shipping that haven't even shipped yet" seems like an obvious one to delete and/or flag with a comment.

yea, I know a few friends I have spoken too are thinking about ordering one (some even have the money set aside already) but are not in a rush so they are going to wait and see the quality from the one I get.
My only worry is I hope ltt isn't spreading themselves thin. They have ALOT going on financially rn
yea, as mentioned on the WAN Show the screwdriver should be a lot more reasonable shipping wise and with a lower starting point, and with 100k units it should help them too.
My guess is that they’ll need to sell 40-50% by the time the 4th wave lands to make this bet pay off… which is about November 10th. So there is still time. However, the bags are moving slower than I thought.
The separate shipment thing was a shock and probably hurt sales. Be good to see them pick up if and when they can combine shipping

By the time I woke up my normal time, wave 1 was done

Really glad someone else saw this. PD has had major issues with people ripping off there designs. I’m sure LTT will make its changes to justify the products existence, I just hope they vet the manufacturer to not be one that’s providing the cheap knockoff PD merch to other companies.

WAN Show. Linus showed off a prototype tech pouch for the backpack. Was basically exactly the Peak Design tech pouch.
Granted it’s an early prototype. So who knows what final product would be.

The PD tech pouches are really really good. Not sure how to improve on the design much in my eyes.
It’s because of Covid, supply chain issues, chip shortages, American ceo golden parachutes, stock market volatility, or any of the other dozen “reasons” (read as excuses) the world is using instead of customer service excellence. If you can’t support the hundreds of products and cs tickets, then don’t offer hundreds of products until you can. Adding more offerings isn’t the answer. Fan boys/girls/persons/etc will always flock to the cult of LTT merch, but us mere mortals just want a normal shopping/customer service experience.
If that's a deal breaker, maybe shop elsewhere until they get things sorted. Personally, I'm buying merch, that i also expect will be good quality
I've had support tickets take 2+ weeks to get an answer, but they do take care of me once they get around to it

I’ve already bought the merch, I want cs to reply to my requests so I can get a different size so the present (now very late) will fit the person I bought it for. I had put in the original ticket less than 10 minutes from the original purchase, but since the site has no cancel/modify capability, i has to wait for cs. The first response came a day before before the shipping service label was created (4 business days after the order was placed). Since the different sizes are the same price, it could have easily been removed from the ship queue and fixed before the box was labeled and shipped. In the first and only response, they wanted to wait until it was received by me before doing a return rma/label.
Im now waiting for them to reply to the request for the rma/label and have put in 3 tickets now (with the other ticket numbers listed in the body of each, done the tweets (which is a horrible way to communicate about something so specific, but tweeting specific people keeps being referenced on the wan show) and posted on the forum and discord. None seems to have gotten any attention. Since the posted return policy states 30 days, I’m at the point of that policy being a reason for them to refuse an exchange. No phone numbers or interactive cs chat on the website doesn’t leave many more avenues to get in contact.

Don't worry about the 30 day return policy thing, when there was a big backlog around christmas they assured us they werent going to deny things for that reason when its because of cs delays. (I also suspect they don't actually enforce the 30 day thing in normal times except if someone is clearly trying to take advantage of them. They tend to err on the side of being too generous rather than too stingy based on my experiences.)

Does anyone know the exact dimensions of the LTT Backpack? On the merch page it says “Meets carry-on standards for most airlines (just barely fits under the seat!)” but I haven’t found the actual height, width, and depth

They're aware and have been purging them somewhat regularly.
They have actually talked about how 90%+ of product and materials they get is paid for in USD due to it being 'the international currancy'

and if you had listed both usd and cad prices you'd have to hope currency exchange is very stable or one of the prices would just float away from the other ones... or you'd end up with prices like 27.33

The statement says that I should pay the fees in order to get the items and LTT will refund me after creating a ticket.
But Linus in the newest WAN Show said that I should deal with that through Last Mile courier.
I am hoping that's not the case, because dealing about anything with my country's postal service is a nightmare. Their response is so delayed that you will run out of time for the item in warehouse and will have to pay another fee -_-
They are doing things wrong, but you can't do anything about it and I seriously don't have the money to start a lawsuit.

Seems like a lot of people are having issues with the Ltt spot water bottle lid, is this a very known issue? Has Linus or anyone else acknowledged this issue?

This is a point that makes no sense to me. Ltt says everything is paid, which it cant be. You have the EUSt here in germany (which is simelar to the internal MwSt and about 19% which id say is the VAT ltt is talking about), which gets added in the ltt purchase (at least the ammount and i see nothing else where it would be paid) and then here it comes the so called Zoll, which is simply not paid, unless they take less for the product itself which i highly doubt.
This is the thing everyone has to pay and is i think annoyed about. (to be fair for purcases above 150Eur), and typically when the Zoll isnt paid the deliverer just assumed the EUSt is also not paid - which is kinda annoying, especially when there are companies like ups where its simply impossible to talk to them and to fix issues like that - there is no way, no number, no Email no nothing.
What sort of problems have people been having? Just curious

if you look at the lttstore site there are acknowledgements that state they are having issues shipping to anywhere in EU. LTT have payed everything its just the EU systems arent always upto date enough. This means you may need to pay it. DO THIS. Then email llt customer support and explain it. They will then refund that ammount
I just wrote it in my message. They Tell they pay vat, which is the EUSt but not the Zoll, id still have to pay zoll, thing confusing me is i never had any issues with that like at all, and from ltt i hear it back and forth from every direction.
Which would mean to me they are comunicating it weirdly/wrongly or whatever (or it may just be other countries other than germany, who knows), every Import i did so far was flawlessly, even bigger stuff where i had to pay the few Dollars for Import and the store did the vat (which is the bulk).
And if ltt says they paid vat, they did not pay everything. They paid vat thats it.
They even say on the webpage they do not pay customs duty which is for items over 150€, at least here if you have to pay customs duty you also have to pay vat so I'm mentally prepared to get my vat back from lttstore already for the backpack

Also sometimes the electronic information for IOSS can get lost on the way for packages under 150€. Our customs instructs us to do normal declaration and then we don't have to pay VAT twice but that requires the IOSS number which customs instructs us to ask from seller but lttstore will not give it from what I hear (meaning you're stuck paying double vat again) so when I order screwdriver I hope it works properly

Use a damp cloth or paper towel, Something you can folder a bit and wedge into the rings. Then just twist to scrub. I've used a bit of dish soap, but I don't know if that is bad for the gaskets
The ways of cleaning I've tried are certainly much more aggressive than that and the smell's still there. Though from what little experience I have with it, gaskets seem fine even with dish soap... and other sorts of chemicals apparently. :P
You may need to pry out the baskets if you haven't already. You could try soaking it in a vinegar solution

I don't like these lids for this reason too. In humid climates it's actually enough to get things in your bag wet

They ship pretty much worldwide as long as couriers can get there, it's just more remote places could be kinda pricey on the shipping side. Your best bet is just filling out your shipping address and seeing if it complains or not.

By september 20th. There is a reasonable chance it might be a few weeks earlier since they built in some safety with their estimates.

Based off what some guy around here said, it looks like support team is swamped and response time is like 4 weeks
They'll make things right, just might take a little bit for support to get to ya. They're working on hiring another person for 7 days a week coverage but hiring has been slow. They do tend to keep some extra stock of most things in reserve for customer support situations, so if a discontinued item doesn't make it theres still hope for a resend, and if they can't they'll figure out something.

Okay, so in the video for the backpack, Linus says that the big sleeve can fit a 17" laptop but on the website it says the max size for the largest is 15.5. The laptop he throws in looks like it has a lot of space left over but I use a 17" Lenovo Legion. Any chance at all that would fit?

Anyone had luck changing shipping addr on a LTT store order? Ordered a backpack, but want to change shipping addr. According to support their system doesn't support this..? Suggestion was to cancel and reorder.
I've heard theres some jank tax messiness that comes from shipping address changes which is probably why it's not straightforward. If support can't do it then you're probably stuck following their suggestion. Maaaybe you can work with support so they can ensure you stay in the same wave, but even that might not be viable depending on how much magic they've implemented into their backorder system.
Who suggested that? Support? Cause like I'd push back on that. Also, unless you're in Wave 1, the support email turn around time will be sufficient to get you sorted if you drop em an email.

If I were LTT I'd have put aside like 200 from each Wave for CS queries and stuff, just in case people lose positioning, etc. Plus, if you've in Wave X, and you drop from Wave X, that means they have a Wave X bag now unassigned, and operating procedure would probably be something like fix all issues, like yours, before offering a wave upgrade to the first members of Wave X+1.
I'd like to imagine that it'll just be a matter of passing on your new order number after re-placing the order, but work with support to be safe since we're just speculating as non-employees.

On paper, no, but they intend to make something official for the backpack before it actually ships since people are causing a kerfluffle. In actual practice, they stand by all their products in a manner functionally similar to a lifetime warranty, based on my own experiences with support and most of the stories I've read.

As an LTT support, this is really sad. I'm sure Linus was hoping to sell out through Wave 3 AT LEAST within the first week.
I'm sure Linus is extremely stressed out about this, each set of 10,000 backpacks is I'm assuming ballpark around $2 million
If something doesn't change soon, Linus is going to have to figure out how to store 10,000 backpacks at the end of October and then another 10,000 in November. Not to mention the huge hole of cash that he's missing from the backpacks sitting somewhere.
Then again Linus is a multi-million dollar company so he'll probably be "okay?" He definitely worried about this EXACT situation back in March when he was debating on increasing his backpack orders from 30,000 -> 40,000.

I had to check myself on this the first couple times i ordered. Im in the us so shipping isnt bad, but my APrime is rolled into my phone bill so i dont even think about it most of the time
I'm comfortable enough with the quality of the product and my financial situation that if anything goes wrong I can work around the damage, but I can understand that some people are going to be a little more reluctant to outlay that kind of money without some kind of assurance. Given their position in the market it would be somewhat hypocritical of them to not "do the right thing" when it comes to customer issues, but part of the doing the right thing is going to have to be formalising your warranty procedures, especially for overseas buyers, like me.
Additionally, we probably need to see early adopters (again like me) get the bag, show it off to their friends, cause with this kinda merch people wanna see it. If I were Linus or his merch team, I would be looking into doing a Feasibility of doing a "Pop up Mech Store" at major cities in key markets, but post Screwdriver. (I'm willing to help with doing a 3 days of pop-up in Auckland, Sydney, Melbourne).

Why is everyone so mad all of a sudden?
People are in a spicy mood over seeing super expensive backpack and then getting slammed with higher than anticipated shipping taxes, and then realising that it doesn't even come with an explicit warranty. Linus addressed it on wan show that he doesn't want to make legal liability for his wife/business due to some technicality in the warranty so any warranty would have to be airtight. He assures us that anyone who has ever worked with support knows that they'll take care of us regardless of warranty, and so there doesn't really need to be an explicit warranty that could potentially cause problems down the road. Loosely he's basically saying "just trust me bro" and people feel thats anti consumer.
Linus is commonly reminding people that businesses, including LMG, are not your friend, so people feel theres a hypocrisy here.

On twitter that I imagine many people haven't seen, Linus has also pointed out how his time in retail has has him seen plenty of blatant warranty fraud take place, and also seen plenty of companies blatantly come up with BS excuses why the warranty doesn't apply, so warranty only means something if you want to take them to court over it, which 99.9% of people wouldn't do since that would be a dumb waste of time and money for everyone involved.

Point is you're always stuck trusting them on some level, and unless you're prepared to go to court in the event of being wrong about them being a good company, then the warranty itself doesn't do anything for you.

My understanding of the wording is that all of wave 1 will be shipped by the 20th, they will probably send them out as soon as they get them in and have the chances to do the QC.
They’re probably over estimating the time it’ll take to get them so they don’t get a bunch of mad customers asking why their bag isn’t there yet

Ussualy changes can be made between shipments, not major ones tho. If it's only 2 weeks between shipments, it might be able to be changed on the 3rd wave, not 2nd.

it's intended for everyone who got backpack+stickers (and nothing else) on the first day before they realised that the 'free' stickers were costing people to get one refund of that. If people are legitimately getting the refund applied twice though, that's probably unintended.
