Well that page is still correct. You don't pay for the customs fees in checkout. That is not the same as tax. If i understand correctly the page refers processing fee from customs or courier charging for handling the customs process etc

Example. The VAT is not the same as the customs duty. VAT is precalculated but the customs duty is a different thing that has to be paid regardless. for VAT you paid at checkout you will get refunded but not for the customs duty

Lets say now I have to pay 70$ Tax to get the shipment.. once it reaches me if my country's customs holds the package and sends me a notification to pay 70$ for tax.. I have to pay and then send that invoice to LTT store support and get those 70$ back.. however at least here there is 75 SEK or around 7 euro Administration fee from the Customs office, to quote Process the package unquote.. those 7 euros I am not getting back 😄

Thats just a guess on the refund bit though, and primarily for stuff like stickers where its a surprise 5 dollars extra. People arent going to go from 70 shipping to half that or anything.

Theres people who speak of costs in terms of raw material costs, people who speak of costs as in what linus is effectively paying including staff costs (but not shipping or taxes), and people who talk of costs as in the all in final price including those things. because of the pop up shop, and some previous issues, they had to open the reviews up to "all people"

before it would only post verified only purchases

since they weren't purchases made on the same shopify store.

it's going to be a cat and mouse game for a while, but once the original pop up shop peeps get their reviews in I'm sure they'll turn on verified reviews only again

there's some other settings they can tweak, and Nick said he'd look into them with the team on Twitter 🙂

There's a much different audience looking to buy the pack vs the pillow. The backpack is practical (and yes expensive), the pillow is a nonsense product created because they wanted to. Someone buying a quality backpack is a bit different from someone buying the pillow. I'm not sure why people are here upset about the tax on the backpack, that has to do with their government not LTT, but the difference in the products would explain why we see that frustration with the pack and not the pillow.

I'm a fedex employee, and even my discount only brings it to $106 - so the discount they're getting on whoever they use is pretty decent

and then for customs, they have to follow the law - individuals usually get around that by claiming shipments are "gifts", which gets around some countries import laws, but they have to do it right

In less than 48 hours they have already sold 16.5K backpacks. There are plenty of people who haven't pulled the trigger yet (paycheck timing, or wanting to order it on the WAN show etc). There are def still much more gas in the tank to make an even bigger dent in the 40K total order. Even if they don't sell through ALL 40K off the rip before delivery then that gives them time to have a smaller than minimum order qty stock so people can continue to buy the bags and they not take up half a warehouse...

Anything that delivers similar wattage out of an AC port will be of a similar size - I got the entry-level Jackery 240W and it’s not exactly small, but I wouldn’t be looking to travel with more than a 22500mAh battery or two anyway

Yeah I am pretty sure the backpack is designed to "ship as a single item" aka in its own box and everything .. hence why the sticker packs were causing additional delivery fees to be added cause it was thinking the sticker pack would have to be shipped in a separate box. So I do not think you will actually save on shipping specifically with backpack+screwdriver or backpack+ anything else. However Screwdriver+anything should save you on shipping costs.
