That's only part of the equation

Get a "Kill-a-Watt", plug that into your wall outlet, your PC into it, and it'll start telling you how much your system is consuming

Ye, there is some diffrent loads allright, the 14279 gives nerly 800k ppd on my underclocked Vega, while som other it was down to 350k ppd

I had a threadripper system that I tried to use for folding month but I couldn't get it stable no matter what I did. It would always run for at least a few hours and then it would die.

My gaming PC was way more stable for folding, oddly enough. But that is in my bedroom and I couldn't stand the heat and noise it produced.

Yeah. The only thing I didn't try was replacing the power supply, but I just figured it would be really unlikely that a 1 year old AX1200i would have trouble with a 1950X and a Radeon VII.

You join a network of protein folding tasks and use your hardware to run calculations, then those results are submitted back to the servers.

Papers have been written from these produced calculations too!

So as a means of stresstesting my new homelab, I've been folding. Finally conquered the mess that is remote clients within F@H. I have two thin PCs, one with a 4170, and another with a G1820 (planning to upgrade), I also have a Lenovo M73 with a 4460, and lastly I have a M83 with a 4130. I'm curious to see if it's worth it to install a GPU in the M83 and M73, and get a little more utility out of it in regards to points per day.

GPU supports parallelization, so it will go much faster, although some work is CPU exclusive by nature

I had trouble dealing with that many GPUs. The video cards are connected through a Liqid PCIe switch that are in our Sumo 20GPU expansion box

I was having a driver issue. For whatever reason, after folding for a like half a day or so the GPU would drop down the clocks even when told to stay at a higher power state. Even the CPU folding would get hung up after a day even if the GPU folding was disabled.

You can either edit the config.xml or load up FAHControl ( on windows I right click the FAH tray icon and hit Advanced Control). Then to go Configure > Slots and remove the cpu one

I have looked into single slot GPUs for folding many many times, and honestly, they are just never worth it. Also you really don't wanna be folding on low power AMD cards, the high power ones are worth it when you look into the watts they take. The best I could fine was a card by inno3d or the Galax 1070, Will link both below. @spare epoch

With Core 22 rolling out, I was finally able to start folding on my 5700 XT. Between that and the 2060 KO I got, I'm almost to 10 mill for Feb already \o/
That took me an entire month with my old 970 and 750

Nope! There's event badges as well as usual "Contribute X amount of points" badges. You can get the contributor badge after 21 work units finished. You get Bronze after 1 million points, silver after 25 mill, etc.
The badge request form linked a few posts up has all of them listed

@abstract wing usijf 72MB of system memory folding both gpu and cpu. And using 1.7GB of gpu memory but that is also with 2 monitors being used as well. So it shouldn't be an issue

Hello, I just started folding a few days ago and I can see that my gpu (p5000) is at only 27% usage (even with 7 threads only for the cpu (4 cores) folding) is there anything I can do so that my gpu can work harder

Windows Task Manager GPU usage is atrocious if that's what you're using.. o3o
MSI afterburner would show 100% gaming (accurate) but see like 30% in task manager

You can see it in Task Manager, it's just it the 4 boxes don't show what pipeline F@H does by default. You can click the names and select the correct Compute one. I can't remember what it is for Nvidia cards, but for my amd card, I choose Compute 1

Nvidia cards should have a lot less in the dropdown so it'll be easier to find. It's accurate enough if hwinfo is to be believed as well

Running it on two machines. Yesterday, on my AMD+Nvidia machine, it was timing out when it tried to connect to download a work unit
