Ehh... I'm triggered a bit by ARM emulating x86 from wan show. Actually biggest issue for now is GPU performance, drivers and TDP, not emulation itself. Both FEX and box86/box64 are advancing both in speed and compatibility. Poco F1 with installed Linux can run Skyrim and Crysis using Proton and DXVK (I'm using box86 and box64 and Turnip driver) and it's pretty old phone. Pitty is that most PC like motherboards with ARM CPU's are based on really old cores or have issues with PCI-E support.

If anyone having Poco F1 laying around as spare phone would want to try set up like mine, install mobian using there guide from wiki and set up emulation using this guide https://github.com/Heasterian/Box86-64-on-SD845-mobian/

Afaik FEX already can run God of War, but at this moment it's harder to set up and it's slower as it lacks thunking of GPU libs.

Here's why I think x86 is not going away. The bootloader is an agreed upon standard. Everyone follows it. It's why you have a huge choice of motherboard, cpu (amd or intel), ram, case, video card, psu. You can build and assemble it yourself, or go with an oem maker. You don't have any of that with arm. With every arm based pc, it's a closed system that has no possibility of doing upgrades. Windows just runs on x86, where as with arm you have to get your hardware certified before it can run on it. That is what arm is competing against.

Depends on hardware, but many parts have foss drivers for arm64 (Nvidia don't provide any support for 32-bit ARM since years, it's main issue when you try to run Steam on Nintendo Switch or Jetson boards). AMD GPU's works fine with ARM using Mesa drivers if device supports PCI-E and UEFI afaik.

In practice I saw Honeycomb board running AMD GPU's and Box86/Box64 dev have Pythium D-2000 mini PC running AMD RX 550 in MXM3 form factor.

Even Mesa's Raytracing hack works fine this way.

I think unions are a must as those at the top not only can keep reducing the pay and benefits of the underlings because they can be desperate to have work, they can also use it to lobby for laws that favor them vs the underlings. It's why the c-suite executives get a golden parachute if they need to be let go, where as the underlings may only get a severance at best. Just like any dictator needs allies to stay in power, that's why the c-suite executives are paid way better, as that keeps the person who is serving as the CEO. A form of legal bribery. Collective bargaining helps keep that balance.
On another note, there ought to be a law that says the person that makes the most amount of money in a company, can only makes 5 times the amount of a person who makes the least amount of money.

So if a company is anti-union, workers should definitely want to form a union.

If employees currently have X (wages, benefits, etc), and union costs would be Y (administrative fees, strike funds, etc), a union is only worth forming if new total benefits (wages, worker protection laws, etc) would be at least X - Y. Some of this might be hard to quantify (e.g., what are workplace safety laws worth?); I just mean the trite observation that the benefits need to outweigh the costs, including intangibles, rather than that money is the way to quantify it.

My point was that, if a company is anti-union, that's a pretty good indicator that the benefits - costs of a union will be worth it

For the stipulation on why YouTube was marking inappropriate content as For Kids, as someone who works at a similar company:

• It wouldn't surprise me if it's a bug. I've seen similar things happen on the platform I work for like assets get marked as private instead of public on accident due to a bug, they get assigned another asset's thumbnail due to a bug, etc. This could cause misratings even if the approval is supposed to be manual if some rogue service is making direct calls
• Most big companies outsource manual work to sweatshops. Even the QA at my company has started to be outsourced. You can't really expect people on slave wages to care about the platform they work for, so it's not a surprise if they're just clicking through and miscategorizing/approving things. This is also why it's usually difficult to get support from public support channels. They don't have people working there that actually know the product. They're only able to manage the top several dozen requests that someone else has written a template response for. There have also been cases where these agents knowingly break the law and give malicious actors access to internal systems / data through bribes

For the Ubisoft topic, the response also felt over-assume-y. In my company, there are plenty of features users ask for that they tell us would be easy to implement and why are you guys so incompetent for not doing it yet, and it turns out to be much more difficult. It wouldn't surprise me if maintaining those services was difficult, even if it doesn't seem like it. Maybe even the DLC downloading for Far Cry 3 was difficult to support (e.g. only one that uses a specific compression format, that keeps breaking). Ultimately, I think a more reasonable analysis would be focusing on the end result rather than whether the company is telling the truth about the games being difficult to maintain without internal information. It doesn't matter whether the games are actually difficult to maintain or not. In either case, those services players paid for are no longer accessible. If these are difficult to maintain, then Ubisoft should learn from their mistake and utilize third-party services that can maintain them or open source like Linus suggested. We can get to the same conclusion without making assumptions without internal information.

Regular gaming keyboards got it somewhat figured out. I had a Corsair keyboard and all my other stuff is Corsair so it meshed well, but now I have a NovelKeys_ NK65 and have to run my RGB separate through VIA.
