That would only bring forth people accusing LMG of 'shilling' for Frameworks and ignoring (most of) the new laptops models, as almost all of the reviews will include the point that "it is not as customizable as FW, but is for content creators or gamers" over and over again. Kinda like what happened with Jayz and Nvidia releases.

Exposure would be fine but LMG would need to be careful on how they deliver it, since it'd be the difference between good apples to apples comparisons, and an apples to oranges "haha new port goes in" ordeal.

But I just can't see how investing could help more than damaging. Mostly the type of accusations and wrongdoings that might come from it. Anything that an invested LMG makes could negatively reflect on Framework (and we've seen before multiple times how the community reacted to sponsors or specific videos)

The thing is though, in my opinion, if Linus were to invest, he would need to be 100% cut off from A N Y laptop content whatsoever. And i think that will be very hard to do. I also think that by discussing this so publicly on WAN show, they might have already poisoned the well a bit for future laptop sponsorships

Both the LMG and LTT branding made sure to splatter Linus in front of it, despite them deviating a bit with more hosts from the staff it's still a Linus-lead channel. The fact that WAN show is hosted on LTT instead of a dedicated channel (yes I know of the clips channel, doesn't count) means any statement Linus gives will be more or less an official one unless disclosed otherwise. Whatever Linus decides and says at this point will heavily affect the group as a whole.

And ye, was a nice change of pace. Lots of engagement this time, altho half of it was spent on the Frameworks ordeal

I do think the "answer" was pretty clear in the end, regardless of what LMG employees will think.

I do however think Linus will look at other ways of supporting Framework, and i do think that is good.

They arent big enough yet, but hopefully they could become to the point where other manufacturers actually have to consider at least adding more repairability and modularity into their products

Maybe things like a one-time sponsorship for a tutorial or live stream to show just how easy it is to assemble or as I mentioned tutorials on efficient ways to plan out your customized laptop, since otherwise you'd need to spend hundreds more just to get more ports you did not account for.

Companies like them would force others to act, otherwise they'll lose out and even get hate for limited customization; almost all of the laptops and models are shipped with a warranty that many new heads in the tech industry won't want to come anywhere near, even if it was as simple as replacing a drive.

We're seeing this in the mobile industry already

Will be interesting to see Linus's "final" final decision on this, maybe in a tweet or something.

Hey guys I wanted to get your opinion on Linus with Framework

I have my thoughts

I believe Linus should invest into the Framework company because it seems like they have good intentions. The company seems to be very pro consumer and someone as prominent as Linus would show other laptop manufacturers that he stands with the consumer when it comes to upgrade paths and longevity of devices. As long as they disclose everything regarding Framework whether it be becoming a stockholder or a partner I see no problem with this.

I think there would be a great deal of headaches from Linus's critics saying he sold out or is shilling for personal profit or whatever else, which regardless of accuracy would cause a lot of drama. People have gotten cranky over showcases where he's getting a deal on personal home upgrades (which is often kind of the point of those videos -- they're not intended to be reviews), so actual full on investment would be many times worse. If the cranky % then cause a stir and start anger disliking videos, it could futz with the almighty algorithm, and then LMG on the whole could end up worse off. I'm on team give them sponsorship discounts (and/or free advertising when criticising other laptops) without any direct investment, and trusting in the influence impact.

(Also probably worth noting that voting was fairly split even with the WAN show audience, who is probably the more enthusiastic crowd who knows linus's well meaning motivations and stance on stuff better than the average joe, who might be less understanding.)

Ok great, thanks for replying. Also got one of the TP light switch so that my dad could turn off or on a pump for his house but yet had time to install it. Im not sure if his Wifi gets all the way to the boiler shed yet. But glad I saw the videos, its a better alternative to manually adjusting the dampers for the kids bedroom and the basement every 3 months. I'll also use it to turn on and off the gas furnace and the AC, but also will try to add the humidifyer, HRV and dehumifier in the mix. It will be nice with beestat.

So posting here so it might get a bit more traction. I had a coworker that needed a new PC and due to the LTT sponsorships, I recommended Redux. They placed the almost 3 months ago and have reached out several times after a month had passed. Several times they said that the PC would be shipped by the end of week and even once by end of day, but it still not been shipped. The last communication that was sent also has not been responded to. Just wanted to put this out there in case anyone else is also having issues, so that they know they are not alone.
