I mean i generally play MMOs, arpgs, strategy games, puzzle platformers. 100% my 970 is burning out and doesn't always cut it, and there is no way in hell I can play at 2k or 4k. If I'm buying a card that should last me another 5 years, since I don't build every 2 years, then hell yes I want the best thing I can get now, so it'll last me as long as possible.

Regardless, it's a really generous thing for Linus to do. I'm sure getting 700+ (or however many) GPUs in stock costs over a million bucks, even at whatever wholesale rates the manufacturer can offer. That's not a small gesture tying up that kind of capital in inventory that you stand to make $0 profit on, and most likely only lose money in the cost of figuring out logistics and building the VAG program

Even though you are helping gamers, paying the markup to a scalper is rewarding that toxic behavior. Linus was wrong about the 10700K, it only has 16x Gen 3 PCIe lane. This means you won't have the available 8x lanes needed for the equivalent as gen 4 4x. Just thought it was worth noting following his recommendation for the 10700k over 11700k. His original idea to upgrade to 11th gen in the future if direct storage is necessary

As someone who got one, I know this might be an "easy for you to say" thing, but when it comes to it the reality is that it will be down to luck and you should try to temper your expectations and view it as a chance you'll be lucky at the right time rather than something you have to be prepared for.

Yeah, I was lucky enough to get in on the CPU drop in time, but let the reservation go back into the queue because I couldn't actually make use of the upgrade without replacing my mobo too. So yeah, the YT notifications were sufficient for that and I was lucky enough to have a lull in the middle of my workday to go through the motions.

Arguably, there was probably less contention for that drop than there will be for the upcoming 6800XTs

Here is something for the show today, Quickbooks has had a major outage where payroll was not processed. They have not made an official announcement, shut down their phone and chat support as well as only responding to tweets https://twitter.com/QuickBooks/with_replies
They say the issue has been resolved and paychecks should hit bank accounts before EOD, but the information is scattered across multiple tweet replies. Some of them are suggesting that it was an issue with a third party, but information Quickbooks is releasing is sparse.

due to how ltt handles sponsors, they will never review the product (if the review is good, then it looks like it's because it's sponsored; I'm sure a cynic would find a way to point out how a bad review is similarly shady). I'd suggest making a forum thread about it. if it gets enough traction, linus (or another team member) will probably see it, and might respond to it

I reached out to other people who had problems and asked if they'd mind posting about their experience in the thread, but they haven't, yet. Volta said my return, which I showed then a video of it not charging my devices, was "In a state where they could not resell it".... Which either means they resell broken cables as new (as they don't have a used section), or... IDK...

Has your cable worked with: An Oculus Quest 2 or Sony WH-1000XM3 Headphones? 8BitDo SN30 Pro, SN30 Pro+, or Razer Raiju Mobile, controllers? Have you tried it with a Raspberry Pi? It said it's undervolted when powered with it from my Nexdock Touch. It worked with my phone... Great, but "one cable to rule them all", which only works with one of your Type C devices, is kinda useless.

I'm trying to operate in good faith, here. If those devices, or other Type C devices like them, do work for you, then I suppose I just got a bad cable, and enough other people also got bad cables that their support line is backlogged and it takes 2+ weeks for them to respond to emails. I'm not interested in "anecdotes".

I may be wrong, but im 99% sure that for different devices which have different input requirments, you need a different adapter to use behind the cable

That's true. It still didn't work with their original AC adapters. And even then, if my Quest 2 charges with any old USB power bank, and my Skull n' Co 45W AC adapter, AND its original AC adapter.. But not the Volta Spark cable, it's probably the Volta Spark cable's fault.
