So sideloading used to be super easy on iOS
I'd say it still is with some caveats
The common way before is some companies would be able to sign apps to distribute outside of the app store. I think it's primarily meant for corporate apps and internal testing. Either some companies sold access to these certs, or some people tricked apple into giving them one and then apps would be distributed online like game boy emulators and such. Apple would invalidate the certs when they found a company publicly distributing apps like that but they only started cracking down on it within the past few years I believe
Now sideloading can easily be done through alt store which takes advantage of the fact anyone can sign their own app for 7 days
I think if apple created a sanctioned way to heavily sandbox but allow sideloading, they could avoid a lot of the anti trust investigations without there being basically any change
They should also loosen the requirements on the reader app rules to allow linking to websites for payment since that's the only major difference I've seen with the play store
the fortnite thing is dumb imo and just epic trying to get more money; disguising it as an antitrust issue because that's what will get them the most attention right now

That's true, but Windows alone requires a minimum of 2gb and while a program may not be using all of the RAM it allocates at once, and can run with less, at some point you'll be giving it too little, and it's performance will suffer.

Okay 🤷 I imagine 4gb would be fine most of the time, too (the "A web browser tab" was meant to be an exaggeration), but I also imagine it would start to chug if you tried to stream 1080p video, like a Netlix show, while also running a chat app and maybe 10 more tabs for online shopping. I just wanted to point one thing, from the last WAN show when Linus said about Micro transactions are bad (when discussing about paying for software updates). See, micro transactions aren't bad, it what they buy, which is mostly loot crates, are bad. Cosmetics are a viable way to support a game past it's development phase.
The thing that's bad is the loot mechanics, which is basically gambling. Gambling is bad. Or selling stuff that will give you an advantage in game aka pay to win is bad.

The problem is just that according to discord rep, removing metadata from videos is a bit less straight forward, since Apple provides an easy way of doing it while Android doesn't have a standard way.
