if another manufacturer came out of nowhere with a chip of the same specs and performance and put it in a laptop at that price with that good of a display and trackpad and everything they'd be praised to heaven and back even without all the great stuff apple does on the software side

it's only because apple can do better at a higher price point that they're expected to at £600, and i think that's just a silly way to look at this

Haven't watched yet but that's not surprising. Even in bulk magnets are expensive. For something as (relatively) simple as MCM, that can be so easily replicated, I'd wager you're unlikely to save more than a buck or two by printing them yourself (at least if you don't factor in shipping).

Hahaha, I mean, not even the LTT one is perfect, the GPU fits to a number of holes and the mouse fits to both its own and the volume symbol's hole, so there's place for improvement. But currently she only does the "sorting" through the big opening on top, the proper holes are too elaborate to easily figure out (she just turned one), but she's good with embedded puzzles (where the shapes don't fall through a hole, they just sit in one)

The only conversion I need is the imperial/US to metric for recipes (and a lot of recipes are already have the conversion tool embedded). For currency I just use the XE app, and the calculator is literally a base app on both phones and pc (plus we have physical ones as well, just in case).

Yeah, the issue is that it really doesn't reflect the actual exchange rate so well, if the source isn't consistent. XE is an everyday mid-rate, so I know it's +- 15-20% to either side (sell/buy). If I'm actually exchanging money, I'll check with my banks directly anyway (and I do have to handle money in 4 different currencies in my everyday life, so Google wouldn't be much help there).
I gotcha, it's really convenient, but it's also not trustworthy enough for me.

Linus when talking about the Jet that LMG bought, when he said, he wanted to feel like a billionaire, is all I needed to know. Everything else that was said was him trying to justify buying it. The moment he uses it for a family vacation though, is when it will truly show it was bought because he wanted it for some personal use, not because LMG the company needed it. And seeing the exodus of this year and last year of former employees of LMG, does show that even though the pay rate he claims is higher then the average, he never said it was high enough to buy a house in the greater Vancouver area.

To be clear, I'm not speaking about the jet, nor choosing a side here; as with all things in life, there's LMG's opinion, there's the public's opinion, and then there's the facts.

However, I will say that even if CompanyX decided to raise the median wage of their staff by something abnormal, like say 10-15% per year, staff still wouldn't be able to afford a residence in the lower mainland that's a reasonable distance from work. This is because housing prices in BC are around 20-40% higher than they're actually worth when you calculate what they should be based on the average inflation of other goods over the last 20-30 years.

I do believe that business should strive to ensure their staff can afford to live, however, the housing problem is caused by a larger global phenomenon known as Private Equity that has and will continue to harm humanity in more ways than any other entity ever has in the current era. Until housing is no longer treated as an investment (Japan isn't perfect, but they understand how housing should work), both employees and businesses will continue struggling.

Infinite growth is unsustainable. Full stop. Until the powerful wealthy understand this, things will continue to get worse before they get better. /soapbox

Now that I have subscribed to the new Wan Show Channel I keep getting the little wan show snippet videos in my YouTube Queue which is quite annoying since I already watched them in the full Wan Show. Anyone have a way to filter them out (I use Unwatched on my iphone but didn't find anything useful to filter on) it is pretty annoying having to constantly dismiss these video snippets I would never watch

I am willing to try a different app on my phone if there are suggestions as long as it isn't the stock YouTube app because it is useless

Until they add something like #clips to the title, I don't think there's a way to force it out. I don't have the algorithm picking stuff for me, as I use FreeTube without recommendations, so I only see them show up once: when they are released, so I mark them as watched and they no longer polute my feed.
