Hey LMG Staff (can't mention the group, so hope staff sees this), any chance you could be able to incorporate Discord into the show? I understand that you have messages from SuperChat on YouTube or when buying merch on LTTStore.com, but some of us folks don't frequent those places. I, for one, use Discord and Mastodon quite frequently, though I sometimes post on your forums (usually with technical problems).

It could even be a paid feature in this server (though I'd personally join the chat for free).

Apart from merch messages, only Floatplane chat is really being monitored. Occasionally YouTube or Twitch chat, but really, they very specifically emphasize that only merch messages are really the ones they're focusing on, and silently the Floatplane ones. Also, Discord is just not made to be a platform for live chat, it isn't really suitable for that. Also, how would you make it paid? There's only one way to donate to a server owner via Discord, which is by boosting a channel, but that's really not doing much for LTT (it's only for unlocking features, but I doubt these would really be utilised here).

So yeah, if you want to make yourself heard by them, Floatplane or Merch messages. Sorry friend.

This is not really comparative. To be fair, your government ID is technically not yours, it belongs to the government. So if the government requires a person to use any official government ID to identify themselves, that's legally within their right. Whether or not it's ethical is a lot more complicated issue, especially since social media isn't owned or fully overseen by any government...but everyone can always opt-out by not using it. (Yes, I know it's not that simple, currently social media is the only reasonable way for me to contact my dad for example - just pointing at the issue, how your photo ID typically isn't really yours....)

Stuff like this always makes me really curious about what these people are being taught and being asked for despite being in university.

I mean, last semester in one of my classes our entire grade was a somewhat simple project that was basically meant to test how far LLMs could go in that topic.

In other words, it meant not only we actually had to do the project ourselves and properly show our work, we then had to compare our approach and results with those from (ChatGPT et al., 2025), after trying to get the LLM to get realistic results, so we had to train them a bit for each part of the project.

I already knew LLMs are absolutely fucking awful with physics/dynamics, so I told the professor that it would be shit, and asked for a regular project, even if it was more difficult, but she chose to keep that project and, lo and behold, the results from the LLMs were shit.

Though the first part, where we were actually doing the work, was fairly straightforward and enjoyable, the second part made it one of the most difficult projects I've had to do thus far, solely because it was a fucking waste of time and I couldn't stop thinking about that, so I hated every second of it.

Of course, “lifetime” doesn’t refer to the lifetime of the product but the lifetime of the company before it was sold off to another company under false pretences. I now have another “lifetime” subscription to another service but who knows how long that’ll last before *waves hands* inevitable enshittification.

Um, okay, and how is that the problem of those who've purchased product X as originally advertised? This is 110% the new owners responsibility. They took a risk by purchasing another company, didn't do their homework, and now are changing the terms of sale after purchase to make up for their mistake.

Obviously, a lifetime subscription to anything that has ongoing costs to a company isn't sustainable. However, businesses that offer lifetime / perpetual subscriptions (like TeamViewer's old licensing) are almost always setting themselves up for eventual bankruptcy, consumer backlash, or potential legal issues.

Reviewing a mere 6 to 12 MONTHS of records is hardly enough due diligence. I would require at minimum all relevant data going back 7 years, or the equivalent number of years one must retain records for tax purposes in both my and the company's jurisdictions - whichever is longer.
