per year across a million workers, that's almost 6 billion dollars in the super

The sources aren't the issue; I had this conversation with my partner on subjects relating to his scientific work. The Kurzgesagt videos often oversimplify scientific facts, which is what their intention is (since their audience is the layperson and younger people). If you're an expert or at least have a deep knowledge of the topic, it might seem inaccurate, but in these cases you're also not the target audience. There's only so much you can do in 5 minutes using good enough visuals.

This is most likely something like an MSI PR rep, probably making $50-100k a year, getting an email from the press (LTT), not doing enough research or being confused by what they found, and responding with incorrect information. Small mistakes like this happen very often in the working world. And when they happen, you don't take a scorched-earth approach and attack everyone, cutting all ties. That difference in communication is the difference between drama-tubers and people who have actually worked real jobs.

Like, sure, the companies could lie, but by that logic what's to say that any card that LTT receives is reflective of the population of all cards of a particular model anyway? Not a super strong argument, granted, but it's no weaker than the one that BZ fields, especially when to verify the manufacturers' claims firsthand would involve scalping an already-precious resource.

I think it was a misunderstanding personally. Only the FE cards use the vertical connector with single post, but all 16 pin cards with the exception of the astral have a single plane that all the pins directly connect to - electrically the same.

Talking about the respecting the source material, and writers getting a do-over.. The Expanse.. Lots of changes between the books and the series (though mostly faithful) with the authors in the writers room (and gave them an overview of the full book plan since the show started before it was over).. and a lot of changes improved the story.. Fewer characters helps, making characters that were very simple in the books far more complex, and introducing characters early in the show that never appeared till later in the books.. One of the best adaptations I've seen in terms of end product, not necessarily being 1:1

They will not open their drivers to let them be part of the SteamOS ISO

And the current Nvidia drivers are ass on Linux because they A) Do not work with the tech that Valve uses for the SteamOS instant sleep mode, and B) Just do NOT run steam big picture well on Linux.

I cannot open Big picture mode on my Fedora machine with a 3070. The frame rate drops to like 5 FPS.

I'm always late to the wan show (by a day) cause of stuff.
I just viewed the part where they talk abou emails and workplaces.
Here in sweden, and I would assume Europe as a whole, its Much stricter thanks to GDPR.
In sweden at least, the employer is only allowed to view your mails if they have strong suspicions of disloyal behaviour.
There are exceptions, but, the employer must always warn before reading private conversation, even in case of work supplied accounts. There is some other exceptions, but its not a clear cut case of read whatever you want.
The employer is not allowed to view what websites the employee visit either. Ever. They should instead work pre-emptively by blocking un-allowed sites, or white-listing allowed sites.

Regarding emails, it should also be stated in the company policies what should be allowed.
If the employer has stronger needs to be able to read everything, "shared" email accounts should be used.

Legally yes, but they still have the ability to do so because of how networking works. That was more to Linus' point. They often don't monitor everything people are doing, because why would you waste money hiring dozens of employees to do that? But because the traffic all goes through their systems/organizations, by definition, they can see anything you do, even if they don't/aren't supposed to.

In the US they could snoop on everything you do legally, so people definitely need to be aware. But regardless of where you are it should be known that it's a technical capability.

if you use corporate assets to browse the internet or email on your corporate email, that’s corporate data. any of that is searchable and we definitely do so via certain DLP methods. I work in ultra secure workplaces where you can and do get fired for sending certain things to personal emails or for accessing certain things without approval.

people sign a document that details this when they commence employment, and during training are explicitly told “the moment you log into personal resources on your corporate laptop that can and is searched through.”

Legally I can't say any more, but, yeah, it's not exactly a new thing that companies (and governments) can and absolutely will search through and monitor your email, work accounts and work machine if they even get the tiniest hint that something is awry
