I work in healthcare, and have seen many people die with no one by their side. Their last moments are spent alone.
It’s very, very sad.

I’ve also been in the room of babies being born, including my own, and can’t stress enough what a miracle childbirth is.

Again, in MY OPINION, life got a lot more meaningful the day my son was born.
Linus is right,…his point was to people that don’t have kids, you have no idea.
It’s not to say you have to have kids to be fulfilled…not at all.

I've never done CES but I have done Dell World which I think is kind of similar? REally great for putting hands on teh latest thing your business may purchase. Lots of access to people that can answer extremely niche questions. As pure entertainment it's no good. I think CES is best experienced via youtube.

As a hobbyist drone pilot, honestly I am fine with it. Because people should be smart enough to know where they can’t fly their drone. If you are legally operating a drone in the restricted space with FAA approval. You should be able too. The problem is there are idiots that don’t respect and learn the rules.
Would be nice if there is a setting that you have to opt into in order to prevent those idiots from default flying in restricted space. But I build my own drones so this doesn’t matter to me

For the record, I do agree with the point GN made. LTT is one of, if not the biggest voice on the internet for the industry, and we've now had YouTubers mention actual correlation to affiliate link payments increasing since Honey has been getting mass uninstalled.

Consider the years that have gone by since LTT dropped honey. How many millions has Honey gotten? If this drop in their install base had occurred earlier, how many more creators would have had an easier time surviving, especially in this current economy? Over the pandemic? And how about LTT's own affiliates? People having honey from other creators promoting it still hurt their bottom line from them simply having a massive user base that likely overlapped with their own viewers.

LTT didn't directly do anything wrong, but the inaction is just disappointing. They have a platform that could be used for meaningful benefits for the community as a whole.

A single person promoting Honey hurts the entire creator community simply on the basis of viewer overlap. Honey doesn't just steal that one creators affiliate links, it steals all of them.

Listening to Linus's full response, that included him thinking some would hang him from a tree. He's essentially saying if there's a group of people that would blame him for it, even though speaking out against it would be for the greater good, he would decide not to speak out about it.

He used the same excuse as to why he won't disable superchats on youtube, because a group of his viewers would be mad at him for it. While not thinking about those new viewers who would send a question through a superchat, that would expect an answer because other youtubers work that way, but then never get one due to LTT's specific setup for live streaming not even able to show superchats, and therefore those new viewers waste their money doing that. Instead he has to explain every single time LTT is live, that to ask a question, you must send a merch message through buying something from lttstore.

I think he just did that part wrong. The point he was making is that LMG didn't really pause to consider that if Honey was doing that to them, they were likely doing it to many others, possibly irreparably harming smaller creators to the point that those creators had to give up. What if this had happened to LMG back before the Langley house? How many channels could have grown big by today if they had a bit more funding to start?

I don't see any reason to be angry at Linus and the team over this oversight, they really didn't do anything wrong.

It's just disappointing that they had an opportunity to use their position to enact some meaningful change that would have helped others more than themselves and didn't do it.

I'm talking from before that, when Linus had just gotten the channel from NCIX, which was the point where even a few hundred missing from their funds could have been a death blow.

I think Steve should have read back what Linus said on wanshow regarding the browser extension honey, but from the second time it was brought up. Showing that short clip can have it be taken out of context. He needed to show or read out what Linus was saying for the entire response, not just a 10 second clip of it.

If the test today is just launch the game, it fails, cause by default Control prompts you to pick between DX11 or DX12 exe's.. and when Linus launched it it didn't ask, so it could have been set to launch in 11.. Minor complaint though.. he gave it to nvidia but framerates were better on Intel..

I got a problem with the term "fake frames". I think the name is criticizing the wrong thing. My problem with frame gen and DLSS/FSR isn't that the frames are "fake" so much as the fact that upscaling technologies like DLSS and FSR have a MASSIVE problem with trailing temporal distortions and ghosting behind moving objects. Also, Frame Generation tends to have graphical problems when rending shadows and other moving objects while moving.
