Originally, the page said having a connection to PSN was an option but not a requirement. The page was changed after the fact. There are copies of the original page circulating to prove that having a PSN account was not, in fact, mandatory to begin with.

This is no different to any other company changing the TOS after people have purchased the product.

Personally I don't care if they require it with future games, as long as they are upfront about it, and don't sell a game in countries you can't use it.. after all if Sony wants to limit their reach, thats on them (and something any studio will be wise to consider if they pick Sony as their publisher).. it was the bait and switch here that was the real issue.
