I remember asking a UX designer from Google one time why their phones don't allow you to choose between a vertical app drawer and a horizontal app drawer, and he said in their research, they had found that having the app drawer be vertical meant that you couldn't skip to the page that you "knew the app was on," thus causing you to see your other brightly colored icons, leading to more phone use time

Finished WAN, the last merch message about working at asurion as phone repair. Working alone in repair is an option. However the path I took was cell phone repair (which included PC repair, Console repair/HDMI ports, Tablets, however based on that persons description sounds like they were just an asurion phone tech), to a repair tech for a business fixing business equipment, and now for another business I fix board level manufacturing equipment, hydraulics equipment, HMIs.
It's interesting how I work right alongside someone else who took electrical engineering, and I've not a day of schooling past highschool. Another path could have been electronics recyclers and refurbishers, There's a lot of warranty work for companies. Maybe I'm just lucky with the options I took, but the response Luke gave just seemed very limited vs the experience I've had.

Does anyone know if dark-mode is supported there yet? I recall a while back on WAN they said it was a very low priority, but I think I heard something about the beta supporting it at some point. Really wanting to subscribe on Floatplane to support the channel, but native darkmode is a dealbreaker for me on a content streaming platform. But in a home, there is no common areas. If you're worried about your guests causing damage or stealing things, you just buy insurance that covers it. And that is why hotels are so much more expensive. You are paying also for the insurance that covers theft and damage done by guests. Of course, this will make airbnb no longer as cheap, but that's the point.

I hate phone keyboards.. wasted space 95% of the time, and for much of the time it is useful, its still a pain cause the keyboard is fixed and doesn't adjust for the content you are typing into..

For somethin in my pocket I'd rather maximise screen minimize everything else.. except 3.5mm audio jack.. screw those who remove it.

Don't know much about the city stuff but the booth consisted of giant rings that had led screens, you got in line, scanned a QR code to join their discord server then you were given a bracelet to tap a ring that made a special animation play.
