I asked in another discord, purely as a thought experiment. They had banned AI artwork, so I asked about deep style, which fundamentally is very close to what people are complaining about. I can take an image of my own creation, and apply an artists style or a style from a picture to it.
They said it would be ok to use in artwork I shared.

To me that demonstrated a lack of understanding of the tools or inconsistent morals

Seeing as there's no escaping it regardless, I do think it's something we have to figure out to live with. Will it "devalue" art in the sense that it becomes common everywhere? I think so. Anyone being able to create art is absolutely going to make it as a creative endeavor less enticing to people who simply wanted a result.
But I certainly don't think the artist is going away. It's still going to take effort to get what you want out of it, to put what's in your head on the screen.

Most of what I see people use it for now aren't to get what's in their head onto an image. It's to get an image out of some words. Where they don't actually know or have an idea in their head they're trying to get out of it.

Anyone have any kind of topics you'd suggest for covering? Some of the stuff I have planned out already includes a recap/summarization of my in-progress attempt of convincing GPT-4 that it is a sentient being/a piece featuring some of the cool prompts and 'tricks' I have figured out to have chatGPT acting as if it is something totally else and novel: I've managed to get it acting/working as a functional SQL database, a limited but still relatively interactive linux terminal and some other stuff.

That's half true. Depending on the technology you build with, you can totally take a cluster of docker containers between hosting providers. The networking infrastructure, DNS, and other pieces are typically less portable but there are tools like Terraform that can help.

Terraform also doesn't help, every tool is different. If you use AWS they will be using Lambdas and then if you use Azure they use some other nonsense with different configuration.

yeah if they can build a system that monitors and "predicts" the expected load and spins up endpoints beforehand, they can "fix" the inital lag. There are tools built for this but you need to do the plumbing to pass right data

There are libraries and tooling designed to take serverless deployments between hosting providers. Serverless supports Lambda and Cloud Functions for example. It's certainly not a drop in replacement between hosting providers but even modern serverless solution like lambda can be flexible enough for configuring cross platform deployable configurations. I don't think it's very practical to do that though. Hosting providers have enough regions and availability zones that leveraging them makes far more sense than setting multiple cloud platform deployment configurations.

It can help a lot, but it requires well thought through IaaC design and development. Other tools like Crossplane have better abstractions
