I always see people do “budget builds” and show what the best price to performance for games is based on the components. But one thing I am extremely interested in and can’t seem to find is a price to performance build that can play VR games. Most of the gaming I do is in VR and it’s hard to find any information on what spec hardware I should invest in to have a decent experience. Currently I am using a Walmart special gaming laptop from about 5 years ago and it tends to stay around 20 fps on a good day in games like VRchat I’m not looking for insane graphics and I don’t even care about having the game on more than medium. You can also make it act not just like any terminal, but a specific person's terminal, and in it you'll find files that fit with their persona. A horrible example I saw was Epstein's computer 😆

But as it often is the case with ChatGPT it went to a whole other level. There was a video, and asking it to check the media info of the video and audio streams gave very real data, and when asked to transcribe the video's audio via a Python script the transcription also made sense.

What keeps me hopeful for the future (or more specifically my usefulness in a AI future) is that these are fundamentally tools. Incredibly smart tools for sure but they still need someone to tell them what problem to solve and who knows enough about the subject to know if they are full of it.

So like for a calculator you still need to understand math pretty well to use them effectively. It’s just taken a lot of the memorization and tedious work out of the subject. Hopefully these new AI do that too
